This class is easy if U go to Class EVERYTIME! don't miss cuz U will suffer with all those in class assignments that are weighed a lot
SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER! unless you speak the eco langue, you will not do good in her class.when she teaches, she looks at the floor and recites things from memory. if you ask her a question, she is not capable of telling you in simpler words. I missed 1 day and my grade dropped to an F because her assignments cost you ALOT of points! AVOID HER!!
Worst teacher ever. She will not help you out no matter how many times you go see her. i had a family emergency, tried to get some grades made up, and she didnt help me at all. She is not understanding and cant teach anything. anyone can just read off all the slides like she does, i dont really think she even knows what shes saying half the tim
She is the worst teacher i have ever had. She was unhelpful and found 5 ways to say the same thing wrong.
Dr. Charles was very helpful and very patient. I would highly suggest her- especially for nontraditional students who have not had mathematics in a while. She uses real life examples for homework. Do your homework and turn in all the "missed work assignments." You will be successful.
Dr. Charles was one of the best teachers I've had at Texas State. She is very helpful and willing to help her students understand the material. She provides study guides for all exams, and assigns homework that will be seen on the test.
Dr. Charles changed my fear of equations. I got a C in Business math and a A in her class. She is very helpfull chiefly during office hours. It is not a class for slackers, it is a class for people that want to understand how economics reflects in business. She is by no means one of the best teachers that I had at Texas State.
As others have said before, you are HIGHLY advised to go to class, unless you want to risk missing a pop quiz that happens to be worth half a test grade. Homeworks are worth an exorbitant amount also. She offers little to no clarification on subjects, speaks way too quickly, reads solely from slides, and is fairly monotone and boring. DO NOT take!!
Seemed very unorganized. Students had to correct her on many different occasions. Class is extremely easy (half of it is learning how to read graphs all over again). Easy grade...
I missed some assignments early in the semester and had a 50 in the class after making 80's on the first two tests. If you are bad at tests, but good at busy work you'll do fine, but if you're like me and forget to check the syllabus that a homework assignment is has as much weight as the tests you'll do bad like me.
Must attend class... their are alot of in class assignments and they have a big effect on ur grade. Notes and study guide are online, very useful.. you dont really need to buy the book... Dr. Charles is a ok professor..boring at times.. test are similar to the practice questions given in class... the class is tough be ready to study!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! She is absolutely horrible. She is scatter brained in her lecture, assigns homework she hasn't even discussed in class, she expects you to know most of the class already. Ive been to her office hrs a couple times and she acts annoyed. Worst class and prof I've taken at txstate.
Tough class to take in the summer! Study, Study, Study! Attend all classes and do all the homework/quizzes on time. Nice enough, she really knows the subject.
If you like teachers who think out loud, ramble, and have no energy, then this is your teacher. Not only is she a boring person, she throws her own opinion into lessons about issues in economics. Her tests have trick questions that she never gave examples of in class. Easy class, but a real heartless woman. Good luck.
This lately seems pretty smart/nice but really is not a great teacher. She stares at the ground when lecturing and will say rhetorical thoughts aloud under her breathe. The test are pretty hard too but there are homework assignments that help out more than you think. Don't take this lady unless your an attentive, perfect, student.
Very easily the worst professor in the school of business, probably one of the worst at the University. Scatter-brained and unorganized during lecture. Never is specfic when giving out hw/assignments. Makes the class do a project one semester and then passes it off as her own research and work to others the following semester. Just leave plz.
I actually enjoyed this professor. Her tests are pretty hard but they don't hold much wieght when it comes to your final grade. Going to class is a must because catching up in this class is almost impossible. There's definitly easier economics teachers at Txstate but I don't think she was horrible.
This class was a complete joke. Failed both the midterm and final and got an 89 in the class. I came out of that class realizing I learned nothing. Homework is weighted 200 points and the midterm and final are each 100 points. If you do good on online quizzes and homework, you have a good chance of passing even if you fail both exams. Easy A or B.
This class is ridiculous she is so scatter brained. I would loose IQ points going to class. Then on top of that the gives out final grades of 79.49 and won't round or give any consideration. Dont ask a question in class its like she memorized her lecture anything she didn't memorize she doesn't have a clue about and doesn't answer the question.
Dr. Charles' classes are loosely organized and seem poorly planned. She assigns homework based on often vague lectures that end up being worth more points than research reports. She is nice if you talk to her, but heartless when it comes to grading, often giving zero credit for failed attempts. I've found her classes to be very frustrating overall.
She is really nice & very helpful. Economics is sort of a tough subject but she explains the material well. & she's extremely helpful if you go to her office hours. Tests are pretty hard, but homework is easy. Go to class because there are a ton extra credit oppurtunities which helps out a lot. oh, & always print out the papers she posts on TRACS!
She is a nice person, class wasn't too difficult just not interesting. No tests but in class assignments and take home assignments, pop quizzes. One group project which didn't give us enough time to complete, felt rushed on that portion, shes very scatterbrained, not organized at all.
Horrible teacher! Profesor horrible! Professeur horrible! ,,,, ok i said it in three languages just incase!
I don know what I was suppose to have learned in this class and most people didn either, I asked. She had speakers present 65% of the time which is fine if there was any continuity in what they presented and what we had learned in class. If you plan on attending don ask her any questions bc she wont know the answers outside of reading off her notes
Probably the worst class I have taken at Txstate. She seems to be really jumbled..if you're good at economics, it shouldn't be hard. but otherwise..don't take her.
great teacher. She provides a lot of extra credit! Bumped me up a whole letter grade. But, does not allow any late work. She lectures most classes, which can get boring because she is very monotone, but she provides a lot of great examples if you can listen. At first i had trouble not falling asleep. She does her job well and makes it easy to pass.
Go to her class simply because the explanations she offers are decent and you can ask question, and extra credit. She's honestly not that great of a tracher but GET THE BOOK!!! You can make an A between it and the handouts she provides on her site.
She always goes off topic, is very harsh on grading.. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! Can bump you up a letter grade!
I am a Finance major and just needed an advanced eco elective. I picked this class because it fit my schedule. It was a very lucky accident! I loved Dr. Charles; she tries keeps class interesting and will work with you if you are having trouble. I am not strong in eco at all but was able to make an A pretty easily. She is very sweet and patient.
Not that bad of a class to take, but she wasn't a very good teacher. Read the book for the tests. If she gives an online test like she did to us, make sure to be prepared before you take it. I would recommend looking to see if there are any other professors before enrolling in her class.
I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Class is very unorganized and often goes off topic to the point that the actual lesson is rushed. Dr. Charles' lectures are boring and she gives quizzes most classes. I tried asking for help once and she was very rude to me and seemed completely uninterested. One of my least favorite classes I have taken.
Do not take her, look for another professor if possible. Isn't willing to help students at all and has a poor teaching method. In my opinion, she doesn't deserve to be a professor.
Filled with busy work that makes you feel like you're back in high school. You will have between one and three assignments due every day. Lectures are jumbled and confusing. Would not recommend.
Ms Charles goes over every subject in depth so it is very understandable. Attendance is encouraged through quizzes. The class is setup so that you can fail every test, but still pass by doing all of the in class & online quizzes. There's a lot of busy work in class & online but overall she makes it easy. Don't miss class and you'll pass this one.
Expect to feel like you're back in ninth grade. You will have between one and three worksheets due everyday. Not only does she confuse the class, she confuses herself and has to backtrack so you end up scribbling out your notes cause you wrote down the wrong thing.
Professor Charles is not a great teacher. She is bad at explaining the concepts in class and not much better in office hours. Though she is not the best, her class is pretty easy. All homework is online and you get multiple attempts. She gives TONS of extra credit and even if you make C's on all the tests you can still make a B in the class.
This prof made this class horrible. I can't believe I went for as many lectures that I did.
Charles is one of the worst professors I've taken at Texas State. Her lectures are pointless, you have to teach yourself everything in the class. Half the time I didn't think she even knew the answer. The homework's, quizzes (daily in class) and EC (also in class) is all easy but her tests are impossible. Find another professor if possible.
Dr. Charles always seems unsure about the material, doesn't explain well, & assumes students know what she's doing. Prepare to TRY to teach yourself the material or get with someone who knows they're stuff. You most definitely won't learn it from her. Exams are really tough! However, you can still make a B if you do all the other work she offers.
I was incredibly disappointed by her inability to clearly explain concepts during lecture since she essentially makes attendance mandatory with quizzes. Makes many mistakes while lecturing and seems to confuse herself, which makes for a disjointed lecture. Not a great professor - I would avoid her if possible.
She get lost in her lectures and then the test are well confusing. In the end I wish I could go back and take a different teacher but it is a little to late for that. she also messed up the first test in my class by leaving out a page with about 8 questions, so we went from 30 to 21 then include the missing 8 in the next test as part of the 30.
She is very sweet and is easy to reach out to and attempts to help when and she can. The pitfall is that her communication skills are highly inefficient. She gives you a syllabus at the beginning of the semester with certain criteria but verbally changes due dates to turn certain things in. Late on her agenda will make her refer to syllabus. Hyp...
I really liked Dr. Charles, I thought she was clear in her explanations and if you ever had a question she was happy to explain. She did quizzes basically every day and lots of extra credit to help boost grades, and there are two places for online homework so you have to do all the work or you won't do well. Dr. Charles was very helpful and clear
Her class is an easy pass if you go every day and pay attention. She explains concepts very clearly, and she's a good teacher. She gives quizzes in almost every class, so attendance is a must. She also gives A LOT of extra credit. I got almost 2 letter grades in extra credit. Her tests are 35 questions multiple choice and aren't too hard.
Dr. Charles is a very direct professor. She lectures for the whole class period then a small quiz at the end. So missing class is not your friend. Dr. Charles does homework through Pearson MyEconLab or something like that and assignments on TRACS. (She doesn't explain this very well). Overall: Great Professor.
Great professor who seems to generally care. She has office hours and is sure to make sure you understand the material. Reading is important, and she knows her Economics. She likes for the class to read and know what we are learning about and will occasionally call on her students for answers or feedback. Always there to help and kind-heart.
Joni Charles is by far the the worst professor I have had in my college career at Texas State. Not only does she confuse herself with her ramblings during her "lectures," she hardly gives any real info on what to know. Her tests rarely have any content covered from the lectures and her reviews are a joke - no help whatsoever. Run the other way.
As long as you go to class and even try to learn, you'll do ok in this class. Lectures are long and informative, but she teaches you what you need to know. Tests aren't too bad, but she does give lots of extra credit if you don't do so well. Many pop-quizzes and in-class assignments, so don't skip! Good professor, but this is not an 'easy' class.
Dr. Charles is a caring professor that really tries to help you if you visit her in office hours. During class she gets off track and it not clear with instructions AT ALL. No one ever quite understood the concepts she was trying to get across to the class. Overall, she is one of the worst professors I've had at McCoy, but still got a B.
Dr. Charles was a wonderful professor who has great lectures. She uses plenty of examples and uses real world examples too. She gives random pop quizzes and take-home assignments plus extra credit. being a History Major I was scared of the class but I made an A in it.
If I could take Dr Charles again I would. Here lectures are in depth and very informative. The HW and quizzes can be tough, but if you do well on them the test are a piece of cake. She gives plenty of extra credit and drops a couple of grades. Her test are super easy, i took her in a summer sessions and easily got an A.
Tests are tough. Help is there if you visit office hours and make an effort. Cannot skip this class, pop quizzes and in class assignments are a must.
Made a fairly boring subject as interesting as possible. Didn't make the class anymore difficult than it had to be. Attendance is 1/3 of your grade. I would definitely recommend taking this class. Very enjoyable professor.
The material is very hard. I went to every class and failed two and barely passed the other two test, however, I still made a B+ because of all the extra credit, class assignments, and homework she gives out. You must go to class to receive extra points, she is very caring and an awesome professor, definitely recommend.
Went to every class! and went to office hours (useless) I payed attention and worked hard on this class at the end I finished with a 79.4% she wouldn't bump me up 0.1 percent!!!!! Idk what this teachers problem is I got along with her fine. but I wouldn't recommend her if you want any help whatsoever at any point in this class.
shes very sweet, but tests are tough. her class is easy to pass but difficult to ace
Sweet lady but hard class. She tries really hard to explain things but the majority of students struggle. Hard class over all. Get a tutor. But she does give a lot of great extra credit.
Lectures are sometimes hard to follow, but don't miss class, she gives lots of extra credit. Lots of online homework, myecolab and tracs assessments. Always something due. Gives many pop quizzes, you can work in groups and its always multiple choice.
This class is a tough one. There is a lot of work involved and very hard concepts to grasp. I didn't feel like I was picking up on her lectures and had struggled quite a bit in her class. You must come to class or you will miss any opportunity you have to earn credit. Take the time to read and understand especially the charts and tables. Good luck
Go to EVERY class. Almost every class, there is at least 1 worksheet. It may be counted as an assignment or extra credit, she never really specifies. Also, missing a class may cause you to miss A LOT of information. I found it very hard to correlate the lectures with the book. If you study everything and understand the concepts, you should be fine.
Probably the one of the toughest class I've taken. She gives worksheets almost every class that are for grades but most of the time she lets you do them with a partner. The book is a must for this class. She basically teaches from it.
Charles is one of the few high quality business professors. I got an F the first time and retook this course and got an A. Hard subject but she gives you many opportunities to comprehend and I learned so much more this time. She's highly intelligent and graceful to watch lecture and explain so well. Many class activities. No book. Tough exams.
Joni Charles isn't particularly interesting or engaging but her class is very easy to understand and VERY easy to pass. She gives out so much extra credit it is ridiculous. If anyone doesn't do well in her micro class it is only because that person did not do the assignments (half of which are extra credit) Attendance not mandatory but will help.
She's nice and all but she won't answer any questions asked in class, lectures are unorganized, and her real life examples don't really make much sense. She gets side tracked in her lectures and rushes through the material. Go to class to get the extra credit and remember to do the TRACS assessments! She does not bump grades! Good luck :/
Worst professor I have had here. Gives tons of long assignments. Loves to hand out pop quizzes, and her tests shouldn't be as hard as they are, but, the material she tells you you need to know for the test makes up about 5% of the test. Also she will not curve, the first test our class average was a 60 and we received no curve. DO NOT TAKE HER
Professor Charles was nice but extremely wordy when it came to lectures. Sometimes I would get lost just trying to keep up with taking notes. Gives a TON of take home assignments so even though attendance isn't mandatory, your grade will definitely be affected if you don't go to class. Tests are difficult and again, really wordy.
Is a very nice person but is not a good professor. Had speakers come for the last two weeks of class and did not teach us what was on the final. The group project was useless and unnecessary. Please save your time and money by not taking her for environmental economics.
Class is not mandatory, but there are so many pop quizzes and extra credit you have to go to pass. Study from the textbook, what she lectures over is not helpful. Does not post power points. It was a fine class, she is nice. Will not curve test. Not bad, but wouldn't recommend.
Attendance is not mandatory but she does give really good lectures and make clear points for you to take notes. Also she does a lot of examples and worksheets in class that are very helpful. She makes LENGTHY connect assignments due right before each test that are also helpful if you study that material.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS! Absolutely worst teacher i have ever had in my life. If you are unfortunate to take this monster, go to class because she gives pop quizzes every other day. Do the homework or you are screwed. Study a lot if you can. Good luck.
Joni is a great professor. Attendance is MANDATORY. She gives in-class assessments that help your grade a lot. She also gives extra credit that is helpful. DO ALL THE TRACS ASSESSMENTS. Her tests are really tough but she specifically points out that the other work she provides will help balance out your grade is you do not test well.
Dr. Charles' tests weren't too hard if you went to class, took notes and studied her exam study guide. The group project needs to be structured better but overall wasn't bad. The guest speakers are probably the best part b/c you get perspective on environmental eco. Don't skip class b/c in the end it will lower your grade a lot.
Great professor, it's kind of difficult to pass her course if you miss class a lot or don't pay attention to lectures. But she is very knowledgeable and makes her class very passable for those who try.
Lectures were a little hard to follow and she mostly wrote in abbreviations.
Lectures are VERY hard to follow, tests are highly highly conceptual, and even though the homework is pretty easy, you have to get a perfect score on most of it to get credit. Do not recommend her class at all unless you are naturally good at econ. Nice person, just too smart to teach an entry level class such as this.
Her lectures are pretty boring, but besides that I didn't mind the course. Of course I was absent more than I was present after the first test because her classes put me to sleep. Do the LC's & MyEconLab and you will be fine. Use the reviews she posts for the tests & it isn't as hard as people make it out to be.
She's incredibly smart and has extensive knowledge about economics which I think makes it difficult for her to "dumb it down" for this entry level course. I went to her office hours for supplementary material, and studied for the exams for hours and still ended up with a B. If you do not know the concepts thoroughly you will not pass her exams.
If you can, try not to take her. Very difficult class and tests are hard! Attendance isnt taken for a grade, but she gives daily assignments unexpectedly and if you miss, you get a zero. Sweet lady, too knowledgeable for the course. Textbook helps.
She only does the minimum, hope you like to pay $100 for only 1/8th of your grade. She explain things horrible, she isnt the worst but she is bad at this. You can passed her class without paying myeconlab ahich I did very painfully but I guess myeconlab helps cover all the lectures she horribly explains
Awesome Professor. However, this class was far advance for me. I understood every word she said but I couldn't comprehend how to duplicate it on my own. This is an excellent class for someone who loves economics but not so much for someone looking to take a class to complete a business major. You must remember all the formulas.
She doesn't care if you learn the material, because she never did in the first place. She's all over the place in her lectures and doesn't care how well you do. Class avg on a test was 58 and I think she enjoyed mentioning that. Book comes with MyEconLab (which is required) and you will need that book if she is your teacher.
I would recommended you not taking her , she teaches a undergrad class at a graduate level . This was such a difficult class. Unless your fully knowledge at microeconomics and you can grasp difficult concept then go for it . Her test were hard
I would recommended you not taking her , she teaches a undergrad class at a graduate level . This was such a difficult class. Unless you are fully knowledgeable at microeconomics and you can grasp difficult concepts then go for it . Her test were hard
As far as lectures not reflecting what is on the test, this was by far the worst I've experienced at Texas State. I didn't really learn a thing and I'm an A/B student. Class average was a 58 on one exam. Would recommend anyone else.
Went to every class and had no idea what was going on most of the time. She seems like a sweet lady but gives uninteresting lectures. No exceptions for late-work. I'm glad I'm not an econ major, because I learned nothing from this class despite how painstaking it was to get through.
I had an A in the class until the final. Her exams made no sense tbh I studied really hard for the exams and didnt do well on any of them except the first. If ur stuck taking her class make sure to go to all the lectures because she does random in class points and make sure to do all the homeworks To 100% to get credit u should be able to pass
Lectures are boring, but she gives a lot of in-class work that can count as extra credit. Not clear about what will be on the test. However, she is helpful during office hours. To at least get an 85 on her tests, you need to study for DAYS. I would not recommend, but if you're stuck, make sure you do hmwk and review notes and hmwk before tests.
She seemed a good professor, but suddenly she was gone for a month and we were left with nothing to go over. When she came back, we were one week away from a test and nobody knew what to do. Even if you were physically there, its no help with her teaching way. Sadly I had a good grade on all my assignments until the final, never again.
Dr. Charles is a very sweet lady. But I sadly didn't learn anything out of her course. The lectures are hard to follow and the notes she gives aren't clear. However, she does grade extremely fairly. Lots of extra credit and ways to get a passing grade!
Go to class!!!! If you go to class there are many assignments that she takes for extra credit. Do the homework, it's a lot but it will boost your grade. Just show up and do the work because there are many factors that are taken into account other than tests. Her lectures are not always the easiest to get through but she wants to help you!
Avoid Dr. Charles like the plague. She has been by far the worst professor I have experienced in my college career. Unnecessary Canvas settings, like the inability to go back to a previously answered question during an exam or quiz.. Seriously, save yourself some sanity by not subjecting yourself to her at all. Lectures are unrelated to exams.
I had her fully online, and I made an A. All you have to do is participate in class for the points and make sure you take notes. She is super nice and cares about her students and was one of the best professors I have had at this university so far. I highly recommend her if you are needing to take this class. She also drops grades.
She has no syllabus no class structure. There is homework assigned but at random times during the year and since there is no syllabus there is no way of knowing when your homework pops up to be completed or whenever its due. She is not accessible outside of class really. not eager to help you learn. she did not communicate with us during the storm
do not take this professor! she doesn't allow you to go back on questions on your exams, assigns homework 2 days before its due and only announces it on the zoom. her lectures have nothing to do with the course. also everything in her class is worth the same amount of points on the overall grade so there's 0 room to screw up on anything
She sucks, do not take her again. She does not explain the material well. She gives a lot of homework and exams online but she just had no effort in communicating with us and helping us. She reads straight off PowerPoint and does not really explain. Stay away if you can
Do NOT take this class! We got our final exam review two days before our exam time and that's how we found out it was a cumulative final. No prior warning. She's horrible at communicating with students and you're better off just reading the book. Worst professor I've had. Her syllabus tells you nothing and she gives 2 days notice for hmwk, if that.
Nice lady, very bad professor. Reads straight from lectures and everyday there is a mistake in her own work. Says the book is required but does not go off the book, then gives exam questions from the book. Very clumsy as well in my opinion. If you come to class and do all the work, you may get a good grade on the final. Avoid her at all cost!
Would avoid at all costs.. lectures straight from her own power-points that are riddled with mistakes and just gives it an "oops" when coming across them. Doesn't give you a calendar with the dates of assignments or anything and will add assignments to the PearsonMyLab with no notification or mention in class. And just bad at explaining concepts.
Professor Charles is a nice person, but I wouldnt recommend the class to anyone. If she is your only option I recommend just taking the class at another time with another professor. She gives pop quizzes almost every class over the material you learn that class, these are super hard. Most things included she doesnt cover, same goes for test.
I was once 8 mins late to class because my dorm had an unscheduled fire drill and she didn't accept my homework. I got written notes from my RA & dorm supervisor and her reply was, "I'll think about it".
Youre gonna walk out of this class more confused than you ever were before. Did not learn a thing. You must do well on the homework and quizzes in class to pass.
class was pretty tough tbh i would not have been able to pass if it werent for all the extra credit she offers. definitely show up to class or you wont do well.
All 3 exams had a failing class average yet the professor refused to acknowledge any kind of flaw in her teaching style. Lectures are unorganized and half the information is never tested on. Show up to class because assignments count for more than tests. Worst professor I've had in my 6 semesters at TXST.
This lady finds joy in writing the most difficult test imaginable. It's like she can't stand to see a student pass her exams. Class averages on all of the exams were hovering around the 50% marker and she didn't do a thing about it. I'm honestly astonished that she still has a job with the test averages her students pull. Avoid her if you can...
It's a tough class. Her lectures kinda suck but there is a lot of in person assignments. She's not the greatest professor in the world but if you attend class and READ THE TEXTBOOK, you'll be alright.
The tests is HARD! Other work in the class is easy, but the exams are extremely hard to pass.
One of the most frustrating professors I've ever had. Lectures are very confusing. She talks herself in circles during lectures, almost like she doesn't even know the material herself. She also gives pop quizzes nearly every class and assigns extremely long online "busy work" assignments. If you have ANY other option DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
I'd recommend you take her if you want a good grade, but not if you want a great teacher. While she's occasionally capable of getting her point across, her lectures are all over the place and she sometimes seems lost. I feel most of my learning was from online activities via McGraw Hill. She offers lots of extra credit. Take advantage of it.
Show up to class every day because she offers many in-class assignments. She also does not announce when the online homework is due, so make sure to stay on top of that. I thought the lectures were decent in class, and she does seem to know what she stalking about (most of the time). The exams will take time to study for.
She has got to be one of the most boring professors I have ever had. A quiz/daily grade due every single class. drops some grades at the end.
Gives in class assignments that are due at the end of class. Her lectures are so boring and the exams are worth a major part of your grade. The one thing that may help is the fact that she posts a list of what to review before each exam but even then you may find yourself being confused with the material and the way she teaches.
She is the most boring professor I've ever had. She speaks in a monotone voice and rambles on for ages. Both her and her slides are overcomplicated and difficult to understand. ~67% of your grade is exams, the rest is homework and class work. The exams aren't bad if you do the study guide. The homeworks are DOZENS of questions long and takes AGES.
This professor was definitely not the best. Her lectures were extremely hard to follow and she also doesn't post the slides on Canvas making it hard to go back if you need a refresher. She gives exam reviews however they are not super helpful and sometimes don't truly reflect on what's going to be on the exam.
She uses a smart textbook where much of the focus of the text and homework she barely talks about in her lectures. Her exams are a really big part of your grade so if you absolutely bomb one (like I did) there is no coming back from a bad grade at the end of the semester. Also, make sure you go to every class as there is regular in-class homework.
Professor Charles is a very boring lecturer. The way she presents gives off the tone that she is not confident in her knowledge of the source material. But she is, so that's a bit strange. She utilized top hat which is a program that allows students to vote on questions asked in class kind of like kahoot. If you bomb a test you will fail the class.
Professor Charles is a sweet lady, and very knowledgeable. However, her soft voice does make paying attention difficult at times. If you show up to class you will be just fine, a lot of the grade is from work you do in class. Tests are not weighted a whole lot, so that is also a plus.
Professor Charles is a decent lecturer, however many in my class struggle to pay attention. Exams are much less of your grade now 30% total, unlike previous reviews. Most of your grade are in person assignments, with many dropped. If you've taken business classes before, this class is super easy. If not, concepts may be trickier to learn
The lectures can be dry, but engaging with the material through the homework and in-class assignments is key to doing well. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for efficient study prep. Overall, a challenging yet manageable course if you stay on top of it.
She goes through the slides like she's running a race. Or running away from something.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She gives an ungodly amount of homework (120 questions = 1 assignment). Attendance isn't mandatory, but you will lose multiple points if you miss class. The exams are straightforward as long as you study. She gives extra credit, but you have to go to class consistently.
This course is difficult, and having a bad professor makes it even harder. She gives in-class worksheets everyday. It makes me feel like I am in high school again. She allots maybe 10 minutes to do it at the end of class which allows no chance for learning bc you are rushing through it. Thinks it's everyone's #1 priority and the only class you have
She is extremely knowledgeable. Uses real life examples during lectures to help students grasp concepts. The class is difficult so stay on top of work, it's easy to fall behind. Tests are each worth 10% of your grade. Most grades come from easy online work. Overall, loved her class and style of teaching, however, tends to speak a little monotone.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but the majority of your grade is based on in class assignments. Basically, you need to be in class every day. Charles is also not a super engaging instructor. Class is so boring and it's almost impossible to focus. Tons of homework on McGraw Hill. Exams and reviews were never clear for me. Just take anyone else.
Professor Charles is very patient and knowledgeable, and is a pleasant person to have class with. If you struggle to stay engaged during long lectures, her style isn't ideal for you, but I appreciated her composed delivery. The homework assignments are time consuming, but very easy. Would definitely take her again!
