A good teacher, too bad the subject is somewhat hard. He works hard to help you understand though, and really does want his students to do well. Pretty funny too. I would reccomend him.
I am not a math wiz. As a fairly new teacher, Joohwan is very laid back and cool. He teaches Stats and Calc. His nickname is "Chewbaca."
Joohwan deserves 10 chili peppers, he is AWESOME!!
he be good man to us of all and likes to fish or I hear. he be funny man with happy feelings all thee time sweet suzzie.
joohwan made me totally look forward to statistics- its my favorite class! Oh yeah and he's really hot too!
He is overated. Nice guy, but not very organized. Syllabus is unclear and gives random hw except for take homes.Doesnt go over hw or collect it, which is bad because it doesnt keep you on track. A good teacher is alot better than a comedic nice guy. Sorry Joo-bi wan Kenobi
Joohwan is an awesome guy. His stories will make you want to come to class, even if it is for math. I didn't enjoy stats, but Joohwan made everything fun. I'd take him again if I ever felt like taking a math course again.
Tough teacher but REALLY good. No calculators! You will learn if you take his class. Always there to help you if you are stuck.
extemely hard. i had the hardest time after recieving an A in 058. Hes homework is extremly challenging.
hes really funny guy that i've never met. but seriously if u r looking for As, dont take him! he's tests are pretty hard and sure you gona fail.
I agree with the first comment...if you want to pass math DONT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you already know everything there is to know, but then why the hell would you need this class. His teachings skill...what skills? He gives incredibly hard take home test and doesnt find it necessary to explain the answers! I strongly state, DONT take this class!
This here the homey. He will work you lke hard beef, but a smoking good teacher. He ius so chili pepper all the way. This G homey can handle the rubix cube in 30 sec. Single ladies, watch out... he will steal your hearts, minds, and maybe wallets if he does not get that raise he is waiting for. Keep it real with this teacher.
this guy's cool
He means well but sometimes doesn't check the accuracy of the problems he assigns. Tests are difficult and half the time the instruction isn't clear.
Awesome guy & teacher! Great sense of humor! It's a lot of math but he tells stories to keep you interested. Extremely intelligent man in every area of math. He really wants to help you learn & pass. You can understand the material w/o doing the hw b/c he's such a good teacher! He gives you the formulas on the test so u don't need to memorize them.
Joohwan is ridiculously hard. His "Take Home Quizzes" and tests do not test your knowledge of the material covered in the course, instead the tests and quizzes go way beyond the course material and into the twisted and company deprived (he's single and going to stay that way) mind of Joohwan. I feel like I'm being punished every time I take a test.
It's me, Student X again responding to my previous post about the excruciating hard tests. My goal was to warn potential students of this malady. I would also like to apologize about the personal attack (always going to be single). It was childish and inappropriate, even though it's true. I did not mean to make you cry in front of the class.
Lee's tests aren't hard if you pay attention, unless you work slowly. Good grading scale, he covers how to do everything you see on the test. Ranting about his personal life makes class much more enjoyable than most other teachers.
he makes the problems rediculously hard and you are not able to use a calculator!
Well his class is ridiculously hard....but if you attend his lectures and go to the TLC lab often...you should do fine. He grades his tests at Petes Coffee..so if you want brownie points meet him there and keep him company :-p
I passed this class, but A LOT of people dropped a couple weeks in. You get 9 take-home test that are extremely hard that you HAVE to get help from the tutors. He is very helpful but since there are no calculators his test are so hard for no reason. unless you are great at math and have all the time in the world to go to the tutors, DONT TAKE HIM
hes an awesome teacher--i wish i could take him for all my math classes! he will try as hard as he can to help you no matter what because he really cares about his students and wants them to learn--he's really inspiring--i changed my major to math after taking two of his classes!
If Math is your major and you love to stay at home having fun doing exercises, so then take his class. Personally I found it really overwhelming since he always seems to choose the hardest exercises and put them on the test. I enjoy getting the answers but he makes it really hard.
I did not like his class. Extremely hard.
This class was pretty hard, especially with out the use of calculators.I spent hours on the weekly hw which was only 4 or so questions.Material is easy to learn, but i found that i would forget it the next day, probably because i never did daily hw. He will ask questions and wont move on until some one answers, so answer if you want to speed it up
He is a professors that knows the subject really well. But does not have the skill to teach. This is college but not to get our Masters Degree! Everyone drops from the class. I barely passed and I went to the tutors everyday. I think that he is not interested in helping students learn and pass. If you dont get it...oh well STAY AWAY there's better!
well, people seem to not really enjoy taking Mr lee's class. i think he was pretty cool, attendance is not mandatory, if you dont understand something just go through the book of the section he is teaching and you will fond all the answers. doing homework is stupid if you can have good enough grades on the tests.u just need the book to get to a B!
He's a sweet guy, and he's funny. Don't play with him too much or you'll get sidetracked from the material. :)
Sweet, funny, and INTERESTING (yes, I said it... you are interesting...) Always has time to talk and help, but if you don't ask questions and go to lab and show up and do homework (though none of those things count toward your grade) you will have a hard time passing. He took the time to meet our study groups outside of class to make sure we got it
Great teacher. As long as you study and go to the TLC lab you should do fine.
Class was harder than i expected. teacher is very helpful, but there is a lot of work. very fair grader... easy grading scale. you dont have to go to class but i recommend going. tests are hard but final is easy uf you study old tests. not hard to pass at all.
this guy is the SHIZZLE. i really enjoyed his class. He always helped out if anyone needed it. you can ALWAYS find him in the TLC lab, but don't mistake him as one of the students. There are 4 tests and homework isn't collected, but it helps to do it. go to class and you will pass. THANKS FOR A GREAT CLASS JOOHWAN !
This guy is awesome. He was def the best math professor I have taken at COC. The class was very hard; however, most stats classes are. He made it as painless as possible. He covered everything that would be on the test. Show up everyday, otherwise you will fall behind quickly. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! HE IS AWESOME!!!
Overall very good instructor. He tries to help people who have a hard time in the class. If you show you are trying, then he tries. His explanations are pretty clear. Overall, a good teacher.
he is a nice at times funny teacher. but not really usefull. at first the class is fun then in the middle it turns bad....watch out future students
Joohwan is a great instructor. As long as you put in the study time and do the homework, you will understand the material and do well on the tests. He is really helpful when you need it, ansering all the questions you aren't afraid to ask. On top of that he's a whiz at the rubix cube and fun to joke with. I would recommend him to all my friends.
Don't let him fool you, he will win you over with his charm and sense of humor. He will make you feel like you can do this class, but he is very hard. you will spend a lot of time with the tutors. Warning, you will start noticing tutors trying to avoid you, its not you its the take homes. Take him if you want know trig forwards and backwards.
Truly the greatest professor I have ever had. His class is demanding and you get what you put into it but he is a phenomenal teacher and you will learn a lot and be well prepared for calc. He always makes class interesting and worth going to but attendance isn?t mandatory. TAKE HIM!!!
Very helpful teacher and will make time for you when you have questions. He is a very funny guy and has some great stories. I will admit that he is one of the toughest math teachers I've had but I learned alot from him.
Joohwan is great. He loves to challenge/torture his students and you need a lot of time for his class. A few tips if you take him: he chooses the harder math problems for the test so do all your HW especially the last problems; attend every class day because sometime he gives extra credit; look at the Take Homes ASAP so you have time to ask him que
great
he is nice and funny
MR. LEE WILL DISCIPLINE YOU MATH KNOWLEDGE.
JOOHWAN is the greatest Math teacher ever. I wish I can have him as my teacher for all my math classes. He makes the class fun. Very helpful. I took it at night and that sucked but like I said, he made the class interesting. I HIGHLY recommend him for Math.
Great Teacher. Very hard.
Hard class, easy final He will most definitely improve ur knowledge on trig & will strengthen ur basic arithmetic skills w/out using a calc Take him whether or not you get an A or a C cause u will need the knowledge for Calc/Physics u will love his character he is very patient w/ his students even the annoying ones "ur instructor is ur best tutor"
Such a fun Trig Class. It sucked that we weren't allowed to use calculators and that I had it at night, but his personality well made up for it. He is HIGHLY intelligent when it comes to anything math related. The perfect teacher, smart and fun while still being firm.
He is a great teacher. But taking his class in a short semester was challenging. He wants to teach u the material, not just be able to pass HIS tests. The TLC lab will be very helpful for the take homes that he hands out every week. they cover material that isn't covered in class. He makes you use your head. Look at the take homes before the tests!
Cool instructor. He is funny, his test are hard but he gives extra credit. Take good notes and attend class every time because he gives quizzes. He breezes thru chapters so make sure to ask for help. Overall you will have to do the homework assignmentsand study to pass.
He may be smart, but he has no idea how to be a teacher. He does not convey what he wants you to know for the tests and gives incredibly hard Take Home Quizzes that have nothing to do with the class. He gives homework but tests are nothing like what is in the book. I did all the homework and studied and still didn't pass.
Awesome Teacher. Second time taking the class overall and he seems hard to understand at first but you just can't be afraid to ask questions when you are confused b/c he gives useful help. Have to put in alot of time to succeed but being someone who is bad at math i passed with a B. Overall, Great teacher with good sense of humor.
He is a nice guy inside, just dont know how to be a nice person outside. He does help on homework and such, but never on takehomes. His tests are extremely hard; read it carefully. He talks too much about himself, and he acts bit like a girl sometimes. He also wants to beat the calculator and hates people who are smarter than him. DONT take class
I really don't understand how people can say he is hard. If you do the homework then you will pass the class, its math you have to put some kind of effort into it. He is a very funny teacher that made the class fun to be in! If i could take him again i would! Also, his tests are not hard, just do that damn work, and you will be fine!!!!
I took Stat with him over summer and I thought I was going to fail the class after my first test. But, with his extra credits and studying really hard for the others tests, I was able to get an A. He is such a funny guy ;) take him
Well, if math is your strength then this class may be up your ally. Converses on non math related subjects, easily averted, light hearted, attempts to be comical but monumentally fags out. Note that he's going through an early mid life crisis so don't falter to shoot him a positive comment to boost his "too big for his size" ego.
classes for smart people. He's cool and funny. Attendance and homework are mandatory. You can get upto an A even if you had 80% total. Class might be challeging if you are not good at math. I see a lot of people failling On the other side, if you are good at math, like smart but lazy, he might be the right one for you.
Class is very difficult. He is not the greatest teacher to be teaching Stats, but he definitely works with you. If he can tell you are trying, doing all your work, and attending almost everyday...he will most likely pass you. He is pretty funny and jokes with his students...which was nice for a morning class.
Far and away the worst math teacher I've ever had. It's very clear that he knows what he's talking about but his teaching skills are beyond awful. He does absolutely nothing to make the material interesting or relatable. If you're a math prodigy, you'll do great. If not, you'll be teaching the entire class to yourself. Totally miserable experience.
Prof. Lee has difficult tests, if you dont do the hw. If you have any questions, dont be shy to ask---thats the only way u will survive this class. Unless ur gifted in stats. GL!!
Take this class when you're not taking a lot of units, or if you're good at math. Tests are often far more difficult than the homework. Attendance isn't mandatory, but that might change if you're in grade trouble and want to prove you're trying. Possibly knows his flaws, which is why he's very helpful outside of class. Do all the extra credit.
I took him for 070 and 140. He explained the subject well and always answered my questions after class. He's easy to get along with and makes the class enjoyable. It's too bad he hasn't been teaching 130 or higher, I'd take the rest of my math classes with him if he did.
Excellent teacher, very sexy! lots of fun for someone who is interested in math!!!
Professor Lee is great! He's very funny and approachable, and is always happy to answer questions. The class was very streamlined, which made it much easier to learn. He's a bit difficult, but if you try you will pass! Textbook didn't help at all though, so make sure you attend class. Highly recommend this prof!
Be careful he looks at his ratings on rate my professor! haha Give us A's Professor Lee!!! You deserve some chillies!
Be careful he looks at his ratings on rate my professor! haha Give us A's Professor Lee!!! You deserve some chillies!
Great teacher really keeps your focus and teaches so you can understand =]
Joohwan is definitely very approachable. I struggled with stats, and always asked him questions on whatever I didn't understand. He's more than willing to help as long as you make an effort to ask/try. All you need to do is keep up with the homework and complete the take-home assignments he gives out.
YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS TEACHER! Just kidding! He speaks very good English. Tough class in general...Statistics gets tougher the further along you get but Joohwan is a great teacher. He's a very tough grader! Going to class is important because the book is hard to follow. This would probably be the case with any teacher.
The class is very hard, especially if you have no interest in Statistics. As for professor Lee, he is very funny & always willing to go above and beyond to do help you. I received a D in the class but that is because of my work ethic at the beginning and middle of the class. DO the HOMEWORK, pay close attention to him & MINITAB oh, & ATTEND CLASS.
Stats sucks no matter who teaches. If you don't test well go to another teacher who doesn't have the bulk of the grade on tests. Got an A but had to work for it.He is hard, but the harder the teacher the more you learn. If your looking to skate through dont bother taking him. Brags that only 1 student has gotten a 100% on his tests.
Professor Lee is very funny & definitely takes the time to get to know his students. To survive his class do your homework & ATTEND CLASS. Try your best not to miss class because he knows how much effort you put into his class. Stats is very intimidating but if you go to class everyday & try your best you'll be okay. It's not easy but still doable
Horrible excuse for a teacher!Goes onLONGrants about how he hates America!I hadNEVERbeen absent&one day I went to talk to him about my grade&he told me that I should come to class more often! Then he lost my test grade&when I showed him my test he said I cheated&called me a failure! Transferred out of his class immediately to Sherry,HUGE difference
This guy pretty much saved my grade, I had trouble with his class but if you approach him with questions he will answer. Even if you ask the same ones 1000 times. Also, this guy deserves more chillies.
This guy pretty much saved my grade. I had trouble with this class but if you approach him he will help you. Awesome teacher.
Overall a pretty straight forward guy. Goes into extreme depth and detail to make sure that content is understood. Doesn't collect homework, but be sure to do it. He's extremely sarcastic which was refreshing and always provided for interesting interactions. Don't be scared from what he says the first day. Do the work, and he will work with you
Terrible teacher. Very paranoid about cheating. Most of my class was happy just to pass. Very dis-encouraging, telling everyone they are going to fail constantly. Only good thing was he was funny.
He seems super nice at first, but don't be fooled. His tests are EXTREMELY hard and he pretty much leaves it up to you to figure the lessons out. He never returns test or work, so it's impossible to fix your mistakes. He's funny sometimes but that's his only good quality. As a teacher, I do not recommend him.
Very helpful, not an easy A teacher but you will remember the material he taught
Showed too many wrong ways of how to do an equation, when he should have just been focused on the right way. very confusing for the students.
Honestly people who say he's not helpful or that he is confusing probably have never spoken to Professor Lee even once about their problem. If you tell him that you need help with something he will give you his undivided attention until the problem is solved. It's a Math class so expect to study! Besides you should be studying in college!
Joohwan Lee was the best math professor I have ever had. I am the furthest thing from a math person. I am an English, history type. He really made me understand the subject. I haven't been in class in 7 years, and he still got through to me. I actually feel smarter after taking this class. He's a great teacher, I would recommend him to every one
Great professor. He's a funny guy, kinda awkward at some times though lol. Many people didn't pass in my class, but mostly just because they were lazy. Not very hard if you pay attention and participate.
He is nice, and awkwardly funny. However his tests are ridiculously hard. I'd study for hours and never received anything higher than an F. I did the class work and the check point quizzes, but I had to withdrawal anyways. Only take this class if you are serious about passing.
Professor Lee is one of the best math teachers I've had. He's very specific and he answers questions without hesitation. His take homes are hard, but there are many resources to get help with them. Make sure to do the homework even though its not collected and show up to class. His grading scale is great and he grades his tests pretty leniently.
He is so helpful! I took his class, and it was hard (ngl) but it was good. I am definitely not a math person, but his teaching style makes you understand the math rather than just get by with memorization. Love it!
Great Helpful teacher attendance is not mandatory lets you out early everday very clear spoken little to no homeowrk txt book online and free
The professor is funny but the class is just weird. It's basically a survey of pen & paper tricks for solving tedious equations. No calculators or technology. Although the math isn't "hard", it's hard to motivate yourself to study knowing you will NEVER ever use this stuff in any job unless you time travel to before electricity.
I would say that Math 083 (Geometry) is not my best subject but only because of the proofs. I had to study and work for it. I believe Mr. Lee is fair and his explanations helped me with proofs. It was a Summer class, so a bit more intense. Go to class, do the homework and STUDY, and you will do well.
He does not allow calculators!! He provides sheets of paper with minimal calculations. However, you will be doing every calculation by hand, which gets very time consuming(especially for homework). He is very helpful and keeps you awake in class with decent humor. I took him over summer, do not expect to coast, work hard and you will pass.
He is very straight forward. He tell you what is going to be on the exams and quizzes. He will answer whatever questions you have, some people were just scared to ask. Will answer any homework questions before he begins lecture and is willing to help you out. Highly recommend him.
Worst professor so far! Calculators are not allowed. He would give take home assignments every week and the questions are so difficult that TLC tutors would give up on his questions. Tests are way too difficult. I don't know why people take his class, stay away if you don't want to pass this class with a C or D. Not recommended at all!
Doesn't let you use calculators but what math teacher does. Very good at explaining math in a way you will understand. Straight forward tests. Does give ridiculously hard takehomes and it's true TLC will give up on you. Class was light hearted and had good rapore with students. He is always willing to help
Do not take him for cal 1 unless you want to fail. He's test are nothing like the home work. He gives take homes that just waist you time. I do not recommend him for higher math .
Joohwan is one of the best math lecturers at COC. BUT during the summer session his take homes were ridiculous. Basically I had to choose between spending my weekend studying for the test or getting a 100% on the take homes. If you complain/whine you will piss Prof Lee off, so do the class a favor and don't show up. I would take again :)
You must study book. Tough grader though he will give extra credit. Homework and quizzes are fair but come test time and he strays from homework. You must know textbook. You must study and work hard or else you are in trouble. Many trips to TLC saved me and he does offer opportunities to get grade up if you are willing to work.
Would NOT recommend this professor in any way, shape or form. He is lazy when it comes to helping students solving equations and telling us to figure it out without his explanation. He also goes over the information way too quickly on the board and automatically assumes we get it. In fact, his sense of humor surpasses his lack of professionalism.
He's known for being one of the more tougher math professors. Gives take homes, which you can get help with in the TLC. You have to work for your grade in this class. It's not impossible to get a good grade, but it's not easy either. He is funny. He will help you if you ask. You do get extra credit opportunities, which will help with your grade.
He's really nice at first, but don't get your hopes up. His tests are EXTREMELY hard, you can study for ages but once you take any of his tests and quizzes, it's a whole nother world. He does NOT allow calculators and speaks with an advanced vocab. which can be hard for some students. Has a big heart but it's all black. Good luck trying to get an A
Professor Lee quizzes easy but tests difficult. You must study and go to TLC for help. Most difficult class but if you study and seek him out you can do well. He gives difficult projects during course. You will have to work very hard for an A
Simple explanation about Mr. Lee, come to class ready to learn. If you aren't ready you might as well go drop and go home. He will not spoon feed the material to you. His lectures are great, but you need to follow them up with additional study time and homework. He does not care if you pass or fail. You're an adult in college, it's on you to study.
Professor Lee was a fantastic teacher. As a person he comes off as somewhat arrogant but as a teacher he is very humble and very willing to help. You can ask even the simplest of questions and he will not make fun of you like some math professors might. He does give difficult take homes so be prepared to visit TLC regularly.
He loves math. That being said, he expects his students to put in a considerable amount of effort. He is challenging. I do admire his commitment to having students learn Calculus using the principles and fundamentals of math, instead of just memorization. Our final is next week. I might not pass, but that's my fault as a student. +Good life lessons
Mr. Lee is an amazing professor, take his class and tell your friends to take his class too. You probably won't pass, but that doesn't matter. Also, he loves puppies but hates the number 42 so keep that in mind the first day. He really wanted chili peppers on here, but like my take home grades, his looks just weren't passing.
First off, let me say he's probably the funniest math professor you'll have in a while. If you put in work (especially on the impossible take homes) he'll give you the grade you deserve. Gives lots of extra credit, curves the test, and he is amazing at lecturing. If you learn from listening to a professor, take him. He can teach really well.
He has super high expectations for students, but he doesn't meet my expectations as a professor. He doesn't do study guides. He can be irresponsible. He's lazy and doesn't care if his students pass. He is so full of himself and always talks about himself when nobody cares. He always tries to excuse himself for being lazy and it's unprofessional.
As others have mentioned: there are no calculators, quizzes (if he has them) are typically pulled from lecture material or the homework, tests are quite difficult though manageable if you pay attention, and the final is truly just problems pulled from previous tests. Many great stories and rants, Prof. Lee is unparalleled in the COC Math Dept.
Professor Lee is an amazing teacher. He may seem intimidating at first but he will not make fun of you if you don't understand a topic. He encourages questions and is willing to help you out either during break or during his office hours. He explains concepts so well that a course that was once so hard for me became my favorite class. Take him!
He's the BEST Professor if you don't mind passing the class. You can get an easy A as long as you already mastered the Calculus.
If you are a straight A student and don't mind failing for the first time, take this class. If you spent $300 on a graphing calculator and don't want to use it, take this class. If you like not knowing your grade, take this class. If you've taken calc before and want to fail a class, take this class. Wanna get 5% on each exam? Take professor Lee!
Yes, pro. Lee is a tough professor. You need to do extra works to get a good grade. I also studied a lot for this class. He seems like he doesn't care about our grades, but it is not true! He is willing to help you! Show up his class, study hard and do your homework. Test is based on your homework problems. Show him that you are a hard worker!
Great teacher, nice guy, passionate. Yes it is not an easy A but he will help you as much as he can. There are some extra credit opportunities so take them!
This man teaches things. He teaches things well. He is an enthusiastic professor, always displaying his love for the subject. Provides study guides for exams. If you show up to class, take notes and study the material it is very easy to get an A in this class. He even allows you to drop your lowest exam score.
Professor Lee is helpful and doesn't mind answering questions. Sets up review sessions before exams. He is incredibly passionate about what he teaches, and that passion made a difficult class enjoyable for me.
The class is very difficult and demanding. I spend most of my days at the TLC. Basically to the point that my boyfriend broke up with me. My $200 calculator was worthless because you can't even use one. If you want a teacher who calls you ugly and your parents ugly as well, Professor Lee is that guy.
So many mixed feeling. Don't get me wrong, he's probably the best professor i've had before. BUT the way he teaches and wants us to learn is how we should have been taught since elementary school but wasn't. He doesn't just want you to memorize, but wants you to actually learn and understand the material. As long as you give your 100% he will help!
If you miss even one class you'll feel miles behind because this class has so much to it. He's a great teacher but for me personally the test were 10x harder than he made the material seem in lectures. You also can't get outside help for the class from anyone other than him because no one even knows what this kind of math is.
He might seem intimidating at first, but he is actual very nice. He will sit down and calmly explain to you what you need help in because he does not get mad at any question you ask. He is also very funny and will try to humor the class at times with slightly offensive jokes. Overall, you have to dothe homework to pass the test! His class is hard!!
He is honestly one of the greatest professors you will have. He genuinely cares about his students That being said, you definitely need to attend class every day, pay close attention to lectures, do the homework and study hard; however, he will sit down with you one-on-one and make sure you pass the class. Would 100% have him as a professor again!
Took his class over winter. His lectures are great and he always answers your homework questions. If you do all your work you'll pass, though don't expect an easy A. He assigns alot of homework but doesn't grade it and his tests are literally homework questions. His take homes are hard but if you have google then youll be okay. Take Lee!!!
Intimidating at first, but he is a nice guy. Lecture is super helpful and organized. Just put all your efforts into your studying. Best math professor at coc.
Great professor. Test are very hard. Assigns hw that isn't due. Take homes very hard. Final is made up of past test. If you get a B on the final C is final grade. A on final b is final grade. 100 on final a is final grade. Very helpful. but very HARD. If you dint do the homework that is not due you will fail. I needed three different private tutors
Lecture is nice and fun. I feel like he needs to stay on topic and just teach. We are there to learn math not other people or the prof. life story. Annoying but knows his subject. He also needs to slow down. There is a ton of material but he will use up too much time talking about random things.
His take homes take hours to do, grading is difficult, if you dont have time to study dont take this class.
Lee is hilarious and has the best lectures I've ever seen from a Math teacher. It is pretty hard in the Precalc class, but he curves all his tests so I passed with flying colors. You learn a ton but you have to study hard for it. If you really wanna learn the material, take Lee.
Beware of his tests as he is a tough grader. You will need to invest a large amount of time into studying for the subject if you want to get an A. He also assigns take-home assignments every other week. I highly recommend taking the class with at least a couple of other friends because the take-homes require more than just one brain.
Mr. Lee is a very good professor. He's a stickler for notation, but he lets you know what's expected of you. Tests are based off hard hw problems, although hw is never due. His weekly "takehomes" are challenging but are manageable. The final is cumulative but based on the 4 previous tests. The last question has a new theme each semester lol.
He's the first Math professor I have in COC, I should say that he's very unique. He doesn't care the attendence because everyone needs to be responsible for each of themselves. He doesn't force you finishing homework but you'd better to do to pass tests. There are some extra credits. You can get an A if you really learn the knowledge in his class.
Professor Lee was probably the most unfair teacher I've had for math in a long time. The tests given were incredibly unfair in terms of the time allotted to us. We would have 2 hours and 5 min to complete 10 differential equations. Now I know it may not seem daunting at first, but each equation takes 15 min to solve. So little room for error.
Washed. No calculators, accused me of using one to add, made the next tests harder, said I had no moral compass, he was in the wrong but pick your battles. Ironically admitted to cheating off others when he was in college. Tests are 85% . Do the homework. Class was too difficult for just 3 units. Transfer credit is always worth it tho lol
He is a giver, a giver of knowledge. Loves me more than my own mother.
I took it summer 2020 and this is the first time I can honestly say I had fun in a math class. Definitely a class to take over the summer because lots of homework even though he doesn't collect it. No calculators. Tests were fair and based on the homework. Seems intimidating but is quite nice. He's also funny and makes lecture interesting.
Prof. Lee is a funny professor and really cool. If you are looking for a cool Professor(personality wise) Lee is your guy. If you are looking to pass his class, he is definitely not a prof. to take. He is a hard grader and hardly gives partial credit. To put it into perspective, more than half his class if failing, and theres only 11 students.
I took Joohwan's Winter Trig class and although it was difficult, he really made sure we understood everything. He assigns non mandatory homework, but YOU BETTER do it! Answers to quizzes and test are almost always on the Homework! Also no calculators allowed, so be sure to freshen up on your long division and multiplication :D overall amazing prof
Stats is just one of those courses where it's hard either way, so you might as well take it with this prof b/c he really makes you learn. He has a good sense of humor to keep the class entertained, but his tests *warning* are really lengthy so make sure you study hard for them! I never read the textbook or did the hw but I went over my class notes.
I will keep this short and simple. He is not very complaint with students who don't learn quickly or have trouble understanding materials. I took him for Calc 1 and coming from someone who isn't the best at math, I would NOT recommend taking him for Calc if you don't have a strong past with math. He is probably the worst prof I have had at COC.
Only a complete masochist would take Professor Lee for anything. Allows no calculators, tests are almost impossible to pass, even the TLC tutors know Lee for his difficult assignments. He also has a bit of a twisted sense of humor though. But if you want to pass the class, find someone else.
I really liked my time working with professor lee, I had him from Calculus 1 all the way until differential equations. While none of it was easy, I learned a lot about myself and the things I need to improve on as a student. If you want to be open to learning a lot and taking a hard kick in the butt go for it, you'll be better off in the long run!
Easily the toughest class I took at COC. Prof. Lee is tough, he is a very nice and sometimes an understanding guy. If you want an easy class which you will breeze through then this is definitely not the class for you. However, if you want to challenge yourself academically and come out of it a stronger student, then this is the class for you.
He was honestly a pretty entertaining guy throughout his lectures. His class is pretty challenging but as long as you do the homework (oh boy is it a lot) then you should be good for his exams as the questions are very similar to the homework. He does grade pretty rough also. A big negative thing that I would say about his class are the take homes
This class was hard. He gives you alot of support and his class is 100% passable.I say go to his office hours and TLC and complete hw then you will be fine. If you have any issue during the semester and you go to him, then he will help you out as much as he can. I will be trying to take his class again. he also rly funny and has a cute kid.
Really fantastic math professor. Yes, the class is somehow difficult, but lee use curve, so it's possible to get extra on the exam. The final is easy, same problem as before. Additionally, lee's lecture is really interesting, you can learn a lot.
Professor Lee's classes are challenging but rewarding. The lectures are engaging, and he provides helpful office hours. Unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the textbook. Recommend taking this class with friends.
Bro had me grinding for this A. Very funny professor with amazing lectures but very hard
I wish I failed so I could take again. Professor Lee is the best math professor I have ever had. Very straight forward during lectures, clear explanations and always willing answer questions. Very funny, respectful and straight-forward. He would say don't do this because it will give him more grading but keep this man busy.
Pretty decent class when it came to the material. He has homework but it's not mandatory to do and not for a grade. He grades with tests and assignments. Every class there was an assignment at the end of the class period. He made lots of jokes more than he would do lectures.
