Very quick witted, personable, funny, punny, brainy & difficult. Lectures: interesting & fun but the bulk of the material on exams is in the book. Not much test review: prepping for tests overwhelming. Answers ques & is interested in student success.
Very interest classes, great person to learn from. Not for the faint of heart or lazy. Perfect for those who really want their monies worth. "Good stuff!"
I LOVE MR CAMENKER! HE MAKES A BORING CLASS FUN! THOUGH HE CAN BE DEMANDING AT TIMES, HIS CLASSES ARE ALWAYS LIVELY AND REALLY INTERESTING.
Tough teacher...but good!
Mr.Camenker is an excellent professor/lawyer. Classes are exciting, and you can really tell that he has a passion for what he does. BEWARE of cases, besides studing the class notes, it's a must that you know that cases, as well as the rule of law that pertains to the cases. And lots of reading!!!!!!
unorganized, hard to reach for appointment
I can bet this teacher wrote a review for himself on 12/8/04. look below! Hard tests and quizzes. Enthusiastic teacher but too hard esp if you had no previous experience with law, or love law. His favorite grade to give...C! even if you try your hardest.
A little disorganized, but fun. Doesn't give tests back in a timely manner, but I got a good grade even though I didn't know it until the end of the semester. Good teacher.
Good teacher. His class is not for a lazy person. I receved an A in his class - and I deserved it. Read the book and the cases, and you will do fine.

One of the best teachers i have ever had. I enjoyed his class well above most others. He knows his subject, and makes it fun. The tests are off the lectures, so do your homework, pay attention and you get an A.
Mr. Camenker expects you to read the material and do the assignments. Everyone can earn an A grade. He gives you your moneys worth. You won't sleep in his class, he keeps it alive. Everyone can participate. I was told he was terrible, but I can't say I agree, not at all. You want to know how law applies to business, you will when class is finished.
Mr. Camenker is one of those professors that you will remember many years after taking his class. He is great because he is not easy, he makes you pay attention and participate, but after you finish the class you will feel like you understand it 100% more than you did walking into it. Read the text and show up prepared and you will do great!
Love this teacher one of the best teachers i have had in Law classes
Awesome teacher, he is into what he is doing. He cares about the student, and is one of the most articulate professors I have ever encountered. Although his classes can be a little hard – but is not challenge what makes us better people. Take him if you have an opportunity, he is worth the time and money.
What an interesting teacher. You will never forget Dr. Camenker. I took Bus. Law 1 during the summer. It was fast paced but if you do your homework and read the chapters you will get an A. He takes the time to answer any questions that you have and welcomes you to his office after class. He really enjoys teaching and makes it very interesting.
If you come to class prepared and participate you will do outstanding. He WANTS you to do well, and will go out of his way to see that you do. I've had him for many classes and have aced everyone of them. My only gripe is that he doesn't give papers, tests, and homework back, you have to chase him to get your grades.
Camenker is my favorite teacher @ SCC. Being in his class was so much fun, and the only class I looked forwards to during the week!
I took the BizLawI online course. This was with Camenker and Artiaga administering. They both have a great grasp on the material, obviously, but they seem to need a tech-savvy TA to help administer. Camenker went out of his way to help me understand the material, incl. sitting in on other classes, email and in-person contact. Charasmatic teacher.
Professor Camenker is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make himself available to his students. He knows what he is talking about and that comes through in class. He gives extra credit to help students achieve the best grades possible. I have had him for 2 classes now. He sees the potential in students and he plays it up to them.
He is excellent. I started back at school after many years and the transition was wonderful due to Professor Camenker. His classes are very informative, fun and inspiring. I am very thankful I had him as my first teacher. Everything he taught I did not forget and will take his knowledge with me. Thank You so Much.
Second time having him for an oline class. He seems less involved his online class---assignments, quizzes, answers to posts, and answers to emails have a long waiting period. BUT, when he does answer, he gives full detail and more than enough clarity. He has an awesome personality and gives you an opportunity to help yourself if you fall behind.
I had him for Business Law 2 and he is absolutely off-the-chain. His explainations are clear. He does expect his students to read the chapter that you are studying before comming to class; and he will likely call on you--so you will have to study. But if you do that, you will do well.
does not get tests and paperwork back in a timely manner
does not return tests and other work either in a timely manner or at all. does not answer e mail very well
He is extremely helpful and will go the extra mile with any student.
This professor is the main reason I transferred to another program.I don't care how funny he is.He is all over the board with his personality. He can't focus. He brings up ideas that he never returns to and the things he should be concentrating on he slacks about. His teaching skills are lacking.Takes forever to grade tests.Never returns homework.
I had him for an online class and he doesnt return emails or phone calls, doesnt grade anything in a timely manner, he pretty much doesnt do anything.Maybe hes new to the online thing.. who knows. He says you should log on a least 3 times a week but yet he never seems to be on. He is really into what he does and expects you to be into it.
Already had my B.A. when I came back to school after my divorce. Camenker has been my best prof, and that includes my University days. I start a new job Monday, which he arranged the interview for. No one works harder to help you understand. Stay current with reading. Don't be afraid to call him with questions. Grades slow but very informative.
I have taken Camenker 2 times. YES, he's tough but he is ALWAYS willing 2 help. The 1st time I took him I got a C but was determined the 2nd go round and finished w/an A. U put in the proper time & effort & it will pay off. He's a great teacher & if u want a good grade go to his study sessions, call him, show interest! U won't get an A 4 nothing!
I took Business Law I online with Dr. Camenker. I was disappointed due to his lack of involvement. It seems like he doesn't care to do online classes. I felt neglected he never answers emails, rarely answers his cellphone and is barely at the office. Take the class on campus, I hear not as bad.
this was administrative law he was not organized at all made us do an impossible project and gave us no direction. everyone was totally atressed out the 4 people dropped the class. others wished they had. I don;t recommend this classs in fact stay away from it. he promises to get you things and never follows up. Terrible experience
HAD HIM FOR TORTS-HE LOVES HIMSELF AND FINDS HIMSELF ENTERTAINING. UNPREPARED,UNPREDICTABLE AND UNHELPFUL TO THOSE WITH INTELLIGENCE. HE SEEMS TO ENJOY HELPING THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH LEARNING OR IN PBL COMPETING FOR HIM.DOESN'T RETURN TESTS, EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS. HE REALLY DOESN'T CARE JUST ACTS LIKE HE DOES-
I took Business Law I online with Dr. Camenker and Law 2 on campus. I was VERY disappointed due to his lack of prepareness. He never had any test ready or grades and only seemed to care if you were in PBL! I would NEVER recommend to take these classes unless you absolutely have to. On campus was just as bad as online. My opinion was waste of time
i misread scale before and fixed
He never has anything ready. His tests are ridiculous and crazy as is he. He runs off to PBL competitions and leaves students paying for him to teach them without a net. This man should not be teaching as he does not follow up and is extremely irresponsible. The class is a joke . My advice do not take it. I should have listened to others.
Took him for Fundamental Law, he is quite the character. His tests are entirely too long. As a professor he means well and tries his hardest to help you excel in his class. He also offers numerous extra credit opportunities. Take advantage of it! Great Professor.
had him for Fundamental law as well, meaning well doesn't get it dome and if you need the extra credit for this class you're an idiot. P
awful class worst experience doesn't care at all except for demeaning his students. He's a real punk who at best has no desire to be teaching anymore. He used to be a decent person. Not so now
this professor hates teaching and his students as well. He shouldn't be teaching there is something wrong with him. He is either very happy or extremely depressed. This man need some strong medication. He only enjoys those who put him on a pedestal. The idiots who can't chew gum and walk. Those who question nothing. Terrible experience, legal writing
Dr. Camenker is a mentor, a true leader. He is by far the best instructor I have ever have. He is willing to do whatever it takes for you to grasp the material. He wants his students to succeed, and it shows. I highly recommend him
Dr. Camenker is a mentor, a true leader. He is by far the best instructor I have ever have. He is willing to do whatever it takes for you to grasp the material. He wants his students to succeed, and it shows. I highly recommend him
If you have a desire to learn and master the law, Dr. Camanker is the perfect professor to guide you on your journey. He'll explain every aspect of the legal environment you're exploring in clear, analogous, entertaining, and invigorating ways, while at the same time inciting in you the desire to sojourn on by yourself. Best professor I've ever had
Dr. Camenker is an okay teacher. If you are new to the legal studies program he may be a little overwhelming. He likes to put you on the spot, and often randomly picks a name off the roll sheet. Always be prepared, read the textbook. His tests were a bit lengthly, but he always informed us of what material to study.
I graduated from SCC w/ A.S. Paralegal and it turned out to be a useless waste of money. The teachers know it is too but they won't tell you.
He is caring towards students, gives plenty of x-credit to help and is always willing to meet w/ students. He literally lives at the school.Has a hard time with online program (which sucks).Best teacher I've had in the law program.Puts law into normal terms so its easier to comprehend.Had such fun in Fundamental Law,that I signed up for BUL w/him.
Professor Camenker is by far the best professor I have ever had. The class was difficult and it required many hours of work. The reward, however, was a thorough understanding of the subject matter. You will learn, but you must work for it. His grading is nothing but fair and he is always there to help his students. Make use of office hours.
This professor seems as if he has too much on his plate. Doesn't return emails or phone calls, and when you want to ask him a question outside of class he acts like he's too busy. He doesn't return papers or tests. This class was a complete JOKE. I learned more about this subject on my own, then from Camenker. I do not like him at all.
I agree this man is an idiot. Extra credit does not equal caring it just makes it easier for him to pass students and award higher grades than they really deserve. It in reality makes him look better to the school. This professor should do everyone a favor and quit.
This professor is a joke. He thinks the sun rises and sets on him. If he has issues the entire world is impacted. He makes promises he doesn't keep. He acts like he cares but really he doesn't. This man should do us all a favor and move on. I agree with the previous reviewers. Those that can't do teach. He can't do,can't teach. No bar license.
I had this prof for two classes-my choice. I think he is extremely wonderful and very helpful!!He taught me alot.If you want to actually learn- take his classes. He is a great prof and is willing to help you whenever you need it. He is a little tough however esp tests and don't be alarmed when he assignes alot of homework or time consuming projects:
This professor helps those who are so stupid they need it. Anyone who feels his tests are difficult should be in special education classes. To chose him is to demonstrate just how gullible one is. I agree with the other who understand that this man should quit. He loves women with cleavage. He adores those who worship him. QUIT FOR EVERYONE'S SAK
One of the most disorganized teachers I've had the displeasure of being with. 4 weeks into the class he's managed to put us behind by 3 weeks. He can't use the online software. Assignments are noted as being due last year. It's probably time for him to go hold a sign on the side of the road advertising a food establishment or new development.
I guess the saying you get what you pay for is true. Tuition is cheap so it goes. He is so disorganized that it boggles the mmind and crosses the line of sanity. He needs to get his act together. There is a reason he can't practice law. The State of Florida understands this, why can't the school. Treats adults like children offensive.
He is extremely disorganized and treats us like children I must say this strikes me as a very low level class. Most of the students are rather slow and inept. Not at all like the University I am used to The class should be titled Law for Dummies. I am leaving the school in favor of College. This is not a College level class Awful He's a JOKE
I can't believe I am in this class dealing with this clown. He doesn't know up from down. He seems to live in the past and treats us like children. There are some students who are acting like infants, therefore the rest of us have to endure this. He needs to elevate rather than stoop down. I AM RETURNING TO THE UNIVERSITY THIS IS AWFUL
I was interested in law until I stepped inside the legal classes at SSC. The professors are a real turn off. It's no wonder that neither of the full time faculty can practice law in Florida. Kudos to the students for passing along that info. Camenker should teach Law for Dummies. His class is filled with them. Moving on to real college U of Florida
Can anyone say TOOL. This man needs to go. The fact that this creep is teaching when he is unable to pratice law illustrates how SSC doesn't give a darn who teaches at the school. The second worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't give a damn about anyone or anything. Loves himself too much. The student's themselves are really slow and stupid.
horrible he needs to go. I am transferring to Valencia. A waste of my time. Doesn't return emails or phone messages. Doesn't care at all.
awful. don't understand why they keep him. he's a clown and always needs to be the center of attention. avo im like the plague
Makes class fun!
Like the previous reviewers have said AWFUL if you need class to be fun then go to nursery school not college.
Glad to be done with this class. This teacher is one big dog and pony show. He is incredibly egotistical and arrogant. Doesn't return tests and homework. You have to figure your own grade. Terribly unprepared. His behavior is outrageous.
terrible experience. He doesn't follow thru or return emails and phone calls. it appears tat he is totally disconnected and really does not like teaching on line students. would not recommend this class. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE.
This class is one to avoid at all cost. Did not learn a thing. This professor is not really well versed and does not enjoy teaching it.Also avoid ACALR awful as weel. I took it despite being informed my mistake. He really should be put out to pasture.
Seems to care about deeply about students and tries hard to make class interesting and engaging. Prepare for class, do your homework, apply yourself and you'll be fine. Complaints about his tendency to be distracted, disorganized and technically inept are valid, though, so avoid his on-line classes.
Dr. Camenker cares that his students learn the material. He offers illuminate sessions at night for online students and any other students interested in attending. He is also very generous with extra credit; offering many opportunities to boost your grade. It is true he doesn't return papers, but I do not know of any college professors that do.
i hated this class! his lectures were boring and i didnt understand a thing he taught..he was very unorganized, so he never told us what assignments/hw were due..all of his work will be done thru sakai so make sure u do the quizzes etc. overall i would NEVER take 1 of his classes again...EVER!!! but good luck if u have him! lmao
I cannot believe the comment made by another student claiming no professors returned papers. How ridiculous a statememt. Of course they return papers. The only reason not to return them is becuse they haven't been graded. Stay away from his classes. He doesn't care if he did he'd do his job.
terrible!!!!!
I would avoid at all costs. Did all of my work, missed an exam because I had surgery. Had an 88% avg on my quizzes, not sure about the rest because he did not return our tests. had to send 4 emails (unresponded) and 4 phone calls just to take the test. I'm a 3.7 student never missed deans list, and I recieved and F in the class.
Avoid him like the plague. I don't understand why they retain him. Maybe they cannot find anyone else to teach full time. Doesn't return e mails or phone calls. AVOID HIM
I agree with others. He really is terrible. Seems as though he is bored. I guess I would be as well. Great for bedtime reading if you want to sleep. Needs to get his act together. Doesn't return tests, Doesn't return emails. He is ignorant and passes his deficits along to the class.AVOID
Agree with the rest. Avoid his class at all costs. Does not return emails or phone calls. Attempts to give extra credit to raise grades, but is selective to the students he grants this to. If you're interested in learning and receiving a grade you earned, this is not your guy.
Dr. C will not hold your hand and spoon feed the material. He will challenge students to think and organize those thoughts. ACALR is not offered at other local schools and it is a *must* to navigate westlaw with confidence. Attend class, take notes, read on your own and ask intelligent questions. He does return calls and keeps office hours.
Class is not necessary to learning the material. I learned more on my own than in class. It's true he does not return email or phone calls. The problem is the professor is unprepared and very disorganized. I do not recommend. Others warned me not to take it, I should have listened to them. I do not recommend this class. He tries to sell it. Avoid
Others have advised others to avoid any of Prof. Camenker's classes, and I would agree especially if you are not willing to actually WORK and EARN your grade. Avoid him if you don't want to be challenged to THINK and LEARN. Don't take his class unless you want a reasonable understanding of the subject matter. Welcome to college, folks!
While I found the class interesing I too experienced problems with this professor following up after tests and returning e mails. I am very familiar with college as I have my Bachelor and Masters degrees. I do not want or need my hand held but do expect a professor to return calls, emails, homework and tests. This is not the case. Avoid him.
I thought this professor tried to make class somewhat interesting. I too hold a Bachelor degree and was dissapointed with his teaching. He was disorganized and unprepared. He would not return paperwork and emails. It appeared he did not want to be there. I transfered to another school. It is far superior to SSC, teachers assist and follow up.
I hold a Bachelors degree in English and returned to school for a career change. I am of the impression that this professor thought he was dealing with idiots as his instruction was absolutely ridiculous. He treated us as one would children. He was disorganized and often rude. He failed to return emails and calls. I found his behavior unconsionable
After reading some of the responses I can only agree that this prof. is unprepared, disorganized and inordinately rude. He has little or no interest in teaching. I cannot imagine how or why he is department manager. Perhaps he was the only choice ss no attorney would accept. His license to practice law was revoked by the state.I transferred.
I have taken 2 classes with Dr. Camenker and he is phenomenal professor. He does have a strange sense of humor but he makes sure you learn the material. I have taken back more from his class than any other. Those who complain about him don?t like that he is always testing your knowledge.I?m paying for this class and I wouldn?t expect anything less.
I also had high expectations. However, I too was dissapointed. The students who seem to enjoy this instructor are those with no prior college experience. They equate his simple tests and quizzes to learning. I felt as many of the others that he was disorganized, unprofessional and unskilled. I too transferred to the university to finish.
My experience with this professor was less than favorable. Even though I earned an A it was no learning experience. He teaches at a very low level. His tests are far from challenging. Unfortunately many students struggle. I guess you get what you pay for. He is rude, disorganized and unmotivated. He will not return email or calls. AVOID!!!
I personally enjoy Dr. Camenkers classes. He seems like he WANTS to be there and enjoys teaching. He seems passionate about the things he teaches and tries to make his classes fun. It is true he is bad about getting grades back to you at a timely manner, but I find him to be very helpful and always goes out of his way to meet with students.
I too had this professor and can't understand how some students feel it's OK not to get feedback in a timely manner. My guess is that they are used to this type of behavior and accept it. For my money I find it irresponsible. He may be funny but that doesn't get it done. When I want to be entertained I will go to a show.Go elseware,I did.
I had him for my first and last legal studies class He was rude, and irresponsible. He would not return tests, e,ails and homework
My friend warned me about this instructor. She was correct. He is rude, and disorganized. He doesn't return tests, email or calls. Don't know why he teaches. I found out he can't practice law anymore. I don't wonder why. I am leaving in Jan and going to Daytona State. What a piece of work.If you give tests return them.
This is my first and last legal studies class. I am transferring to Valencia. I cannot believe this professor teaches. His jokes are ridiculous, his assignments even worse. He fails to followup or return paperwork, tests or email. For my money I want feedback. Totally disorganized and self absorbed.
Just finished the class. I think he sets us up to fail. No help when you need it.Allows senior students to help hey know nothing. The guest Judge was wonderful. Very insightful. We learned more from her in a short timethan the professor. I think her name was Barnett. I would like to learn from her again.
Dr. Camenker is great. Show up to class. Do the work. Read the book and ask insightful questions. If you are trying to bs through the class; he will spot it and call you out. I look forward to taking another class with him.
I took this class and can honestly say there were no insightful questions. I was able to BS my way as did many others. I am like some others, moving on and transfering to the University. Most of the students there need their hand held. The standards are minimal.
He is great! I dont know why anyone would not agree. He tries incredibly hard to help everyone. If he's hard on you, it's because you're a Law major or taking Paralegal studies. You NEED to know what he's teaching if you are majoring in Law. I wouldnt want to hire someone who doesn't slid by in their law classes.
One of the finest professors you will ever have! He was fascinating to listen to. Loved his sense of humor. Incredibly knowledgable on wide array of subjects and very well read. I highly reccommend this class to anyone. Have to work hard, but so worth it.
He's awesome. Witty, never a dull moment. I'm going to miss him this semester.
Super mega helpful. Always is in his office, always is ready to listen to you and help. Tests may seem a bit hard if you don't study, once you show him your effor and desire to study, no matter how low your grades are - he is willing to help you! Very enthusiastic, dedicated, and full of jokes! He will be missed!
This teacher is really great, and wants to help you know this subject that he is clearly passionate about. He goes out of his way to communicate the materials to you, even as far as creating videos going over submitted questions. If you do not do the work and keep up, this class would be very easy to fail. Just learn to find the joy in the subject.
Dr. Camenker's Advanced Computer-Assisted Legal Research class is a must for anyone serious about becoming a paralegal or going into law. He is a wonderful professor who always goes the extra mile. It is truly a privilege to have had three classes with him. He strives to help students be all they can be and contributes to their personal success.
Now I understand the saying "those that can - do, those that can't - teach." He is disorganized, doesn't return tests, email or calls. This was an online course and everything could have been posted through the schools website. Unfortunately, this professor didn't know how to use the schools system.
Dr. Camenker's class is not easy if you don't read or prepare for his class. However he is very funny and if you pay attention during his class you won't have a problem getting A.
This Professor is a great teacher, and he is willing to help if you ask.... He is extremely talented I failed his class, but he is great!!!!
Outstanding, helpful, and incredibly knowledgable. You must be willing to give maximum effort. He doesn't accept halfway.
Prof. is VERY disorganized, only follows 30% of syllabus but nice guy. Standards written tough but waits 2 post 90% grades last day. Quizzes all from book/auto graded. Hmwk/postings = some not from book. Tests = study guide /w too much info but helpful if u find info/study well; on campus /w extra credit & curve; offered us midterm 2 retake online.
He required high level readings, with understanding, which many times required research. He uses Sakai, but takes forever to post anything. He's very disorganized, with no feedback on how your doing in the class. A one credit class turned out to be the hardest, most time consuming class I've ever taken
This is a professor that makes you work to earn the A! But if you ask questions and talk to him if your having trouble you'll do fine. I have moved my schedule around to take him for several classes because its hard work but you learn so much.
Dr.Jordan Camenker is a great professor. He made class interest and learn a lot. He is very helpful for students. I like this professor's class So, I took his other law class in summer.
If you are heading into law to be either a Lawyer or a Paralegal, take this Professor. You will learn so much from him (and be corrupted by his humor). Participate, do the work, go to him for help (his office is always open), and you'll make an A in his class. :) Good luck!
Lectures consist of bad jokes and stories from HIS college days. Never writes on the board. No power points. Nearly impossible to take notes from. Doesn't follow syllabus. Doesn't grade ANYTHING till the end of the semester. Makes things 10x harder than necessary due to his own disorganization. Your book is your only source of info. READ IT.
Wastes valuable teaching and review time on unnecessary pet projects like mock trials. WHY? This is NOT law school. Students end up teaching each other or learning through personal online searches for answers. Does not grade anything or respond to emails. I would have learned just as much from an online course and without the stress.
This has been my favorite professor so far.. He is tough and wants to make sure you learn the material but that is why im here.. I will make it a point to take every class of his I can. Just make sure you show up and participate in class.. It makes all the difference..
He's interesting, goes above and beyond to help, if and whenever you need. Always gives you opportunity for questions. Keeps you on your toes. I think he's great and I will take him again! Some teachers don't care if you learn but he will make you.
Funny guy but wastes majority of class time telling crappy jokes and then proceeds to rag on you for failing tests when the only way we have to learn is through the book. Would not recommend ever
Professor lacks focus. Seems more interested in himself than supplying information his students need/ask for. Would not recommend.
Let me be the first to say that he is a gem however not the best professor! He will go above and beyond to help you, always offers to help find job shadowing opportunities or internships but he is EXTREMELY unorganized and will NEVER return a graded assignment to you. His classes are fun and only informative if you ask the right questions.
If you want to graduate with a lot of tools and knowledge to succeed in the paralegal field, I suggest you take all of his classes.
Dr. Camenker is excellent! When I read a few reviews of Dr. Camenker I was very concerned, but now I know the truth that he's amazing! I even dropped a class to pick up another class that he offers, PLA-2370. Dr. Camenker isn't your average professor, he has a sense of humor, he cares about his students, and he truly challenges you to learn!
Dr. Camenker is an amazing professor! You definitely won't be disappointed by his lectures! PLA-2730 should be a mandatory class! Be sure to sign up for it because it's only offered once a year! The final paper is by far the best assignment I've ever completed, however the paper was difficult but well worth the struggle! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This is my third time taking a class with Mr. Camenker, He can be a little out there at times, but I learn more in his classes and work harder in his classes then any other class. He truly cares about his students and is more then willing to help. He tries to make himself available almost 24/7. He is devoted to his job of teaching.
Easy classes, but if he likes you its easier. Hard to get a hold of him. Instructions and lectures are never clear. Play favorites. Makes you feel dumb in front of people. Very nice person. Brings his political views into his lessons. Overall very knowledgeable and great instructor material but just too full of himself.
Awesome guy. I defiantly believe the negative comments left on this professor are from those who weren't willing to work in the class at all. He even gives you hints on what you should expand on while taking exams. He is a little unorganized but that is honestly 50% of all professors. Goes above and beyond to help his students.
This professor was great as far as a person. Had alot of unnecessary jokes being said throughout the class. Never returns graded work or tells you how you are doing. Don't miss any classes, assignments are fun but very unorganized, only had two exams both were open book, he wants you to succeed if he likes you he will pay more attention to you
Don't expect a grade on work from this professor. This is my second class with him, and I don't think I ever received a mark on anything I turned in. I pleaded with him through the first class to turn in my grades so I could see them (online). Second class, I just touched base to make sure I was on track. Received A's in both online courses.
Dr. Camenker is a very knowledgable in many areas and aspects of law. If you are really into law you will find everything he lectures meaningful. I enjoyed his class very much! :-)
He does NOT give you your grade on assignments, he rarely gives feedback even when asked. This class is VERY unorganized, the work itself isn't hard but due to the professor not giving grades and assignments in a timely manner it is very difficult/frustrating. He is kind and caring, but his intentions are overshadowed by his failure to grade etc.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! The actual classwork, the reading assignments are fine and the online quizzes and assignments are super straight forward and sometimes even enjoyable, but the teacher is a complete pain, he doesn't post the assignments till the last minute and makes it almost impossible to see what's due. Save yourself, DON'T SIGN UP!
Dr. Camenker is great! I took his course over a summer A session and got an A!! He really cares for his students and offers extra credit! SIGN UP FOR HIS CLASS!! He doesn't post grades but if you touch base with him he will let you know your grades. I absolutely would take his class again!!
Nothing was graded throughout the term. Everything is posted at the last minute, he told us we had a final exam 3 days before it was due, while having a final project and essay due the day before. I graduate this summer and have remained a 4.0 student thus far. This class may ruin my GPA, please don't take him! He's a good guy, but bad professor.
It is nearly impossible to get into contact with him through phone calls, texts or emails. He said "three exams and an optional one to replace a bad exam grade" and we got two exams, which we never got graded for even when he said the grades would be up soon. Lectures are done through videos. He sent out a lesson needed for exam 1 the day it opened
I've had to edit this review three times. I have to take him again so that's the only reason I said I would take him again. He's a great person, but a sucky teacher. He does try hard, but can be too demanding at times and sucks at due dates. Please beware.
Mr. Camenker is not a bad teacher at all, he gives lots of extra credit, quizzes and tests are a little challenging but he is slow as a turtle when it comes to grading lol. He is a nice person but he needs to work on his organization skills lol ;) he just put in my grade last night and he barely he made the deadline. he drove me crazy all semester
Professor C. is great if you want to learn. I love his classes! He encourages you to think and learn the material. He offers plenty of extra credit. If you study, participate and want to learn then I highly recommend him. Students seem to either love him or not and he can be slow on some grades, but he goes above and beyond for his students.
I took this class over the summer and highly recommend this course and Professor Camenker. If you plan to do Paralegal Studies this class will give you a head start on Computer Legal Research, especially learning to maneuver WestLaw and Lexis. Take advantage of the extra credit that is available to learn case law. it was a great class.
Prof Camenker is not a bad person. He extended the deadline for those who hand in work late. I handed everything on time and never recieved feedback. He never graded anything all semester. Lectures were good. Unorganized. Avoid if you can.
Wouldn't recommend. He did not grade half of the dated assignments When he did decide to grade a few things things it was at end of semester and was fuming at the quality of final papers he received when we had no guidelines for what he was looking for. Beware he makes uncomfortable comments to women and passes it off as "just playing".
Professor Camenker is awesome! I'm female and have been attending his classes for two years now, saw someone said he's inappropriate towards women. I've never witnessed this in the time I've worked alongside him as his work-study. He is super respectful and extremely informative. He goes out of his way to make sure you understand the material.10/10
AVOID THIS MAN!! Ive taken 3 of his classes cause he's the only option for most law classes. He doesn't know how the internet works, do NOT suggest him for any online class. Everything is “due” in the same day and you never know when the work is really due. He gives 6-8 assignments a week and are never in the modules. 0/10 recommend
Camenker is a great professor who really cares about his students. His teaching style is effective, and using Unstuck ai for exam prep was a game-changer. Engaging with the course material pays off.
Professor Camenker is a somewhat caring professor, but his execution lacks. Due dates aren't clear and expectations on assignments are not laid out thoroughly. Ensure to read the syllabus upon the hour of getting it. Rarely ever grades anything, the grades you receive are from autograde quizzes. Be cautious as sometimes he is forgiving, others not.
Do not recommend at all. The end project, the mock trial, was so unclear even he did not know what to do. We did not receive which side (plaintiff or defendant) we had until days before the trial. He never takes accountability for being unorganized and blames it on students. Debating on going to SSC about him breaching student-professor boundaries.
I was not going to write a review on Prof. Camenker but his attitude leading up to the end of the semester was appalling. He wanted us to do an entire mock trial virtually. Over half the students did not show up to do it and he blamed the students that did for not doing enough. His “humor” is borderline creepy and you never know when things are due
Stray away if you can help it! He made this class unbearable. He NEVER takes accountability for messing up or not setting due dates. Mock trial project was a disaster. He thinks a virtual class should be treated as an in person class. He sometimes acts like he cares but will make the class insufferable towards the end of the semester.
One of the best professors! You can tell he truly cares about his students and their success. He's always willing to work with you and offer help. He really changed how I view being a paralegal and made me excited to continue with this program. Highly recommend!
I took torts last semester and he graded 3 things. 3 things, that's right. I don't even know how its allowed or why SSC hasn't fired him. He makes weird comments and never sets due dates. Bottom of the barrel professor who does not care.
He is very disorganized and should NOT be an online professor. AT ALL.
He assigns a ton of assignments to do and they are all usually one one to 2 questions, which is good but it is a lot. He changes his due dates a lot and there are like 4 modules due in one week. He also took 3 months to grade my very first discussion post. Also, he is very hard to communicate with.
he doesn't grade discussion posts and claims he's accessible outside of class and rarely is. disorganized and will ridicule you for not knowing something he hasn't taught.
Professor Camenker is one of the best professors I have ever had. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone gets the most out of his class. He is extremely caring and reasonable. He's even offered books (law and other genres) for me and my whole school multiple times. His class is not even difficult, as long as you do the work.
terrible attitude displayed by prof. camenker all throughout the term. don't listen to anyone who says he cares, he doesn't. he may act like he does but it's all to amuse himself. i have no idea why he's in this profession. ssc only keeps him around because there's no one else to replace him.
He treats this profession like a joke half the time and tries to appeal by using somewhat creepy jokes in class sessions. Doesn't grade select assignments- some of which had a lot of thought put into them just for them not to be graded. He views it as perfectly acceptable. Rude most the time in communication, which he lacks to begin with.
This is hands down one of the best professors you can land. You are going to learn the material, and you'll put in work. But you will want to. I have taken a few of his classes, while full time with other courses. This is not a “set it and allow a test bank to give students questions for tests” professor. You're going to LEARN. And you'll like it.
Offers many opportunities for extra credit, but his lack of organization and tired boomer humor were off-putting. He grades late or not at all. Canvas assignments are riddled with spelling and due date errors because he doesn't bother to proofread or update the content from past semesters. There's a reason he hasn't practiced law for over 20 years.
I do NOT recommend this professor. He is very unorganized. So many times I had to email him about inconstancies in the course structure and he was so dismissive. In a low class especially, organizational skills are needed and he has little to none. He doesn't care much either.
Camenker will make you want to drop out of what is supposed to be an easy class. He overcomplicates everything and can't even set due dates. You're lucky if you even get an accurate grade at the end of the semester. He grades practically nothing.
Avoid this class! You will not know your grade all semester and he is so unconventional, it is beyond exhausting. He contradicts himself many times during lectures and his organization skills are pretty much nonexistent.
This professor is one of the main reasons I'm switching to another school next semester to complete my Paralegal Studies degree. Taking his classes is unavoidable to get this degree at SSC due to the limited number of instructors, and I've realized he will never choose to improve himself. Zero organization, rarely grades assignments. Frustrating.
This professor is one of the best you can get. I was actually scared of taking this class due to reviews but had friend who took his class and told me how awesome he was. You're going to understand the material, and yes, you'll have to put in the effort but it never feels like busy work. He teaches, he explains, and he pushes you to really get it.
I find Professor Camenker funny but he can be rude. I think he needs serious help organizing his Canvas and all assignments in all of his classes honestly. I have turned in so many assignments and have yet to receive a grade from discussion posts from the second week, it's the end of the term. Random assignments will populate, dates are wrong.yikes
Professor Camenker is very fair and truly wants his students to succeed. He expects participation and effort. He offers plenty of extra credit. Top notch instructor. The mock trial is not bad at all. It was fun actually. It ties together all that you have learned in his class. Don't stress it.
Fundamentals of Law is exactly what it sounds like. It is not overly exciting, but it is important material. Make sure to read and study for the exams. Fair class overall.
