I was told the Aviation Weather class was filled with very dry material. Mr. Lyons did an excellent job of presenting the real-world applications of the textbook content and he summarized the chapters for easy study. Take him if you are able.

Not too much homework, easy to get along with

A lot of his quiz questions come from reading the chapter. And whatever you do, DO NOT miss the test review days. I'm passing because of them! Take Lyons, it'll be the best decision of your life.

This is probably one of my favorite teachers ever. He is so funny, The best joke going around was us calling him a nurse... don't call him a nurse. He knows what he is doing and knows how to teach a class. He connected with us personally while keeping it professional and comical the entire time. I can't wait to take him for Instrument.

One of the best instructors out there. Some say his class is challenging, guess what? flying an airplane is challenging if you don't put forth the required effort. Mr. Lyons is a great professor! He is very accommodating and wants to help you. His class can be tough because he jumps around and teaches mostly by lecture (with limited use of PowerPoint or blackboard), but if you read ahead you will be fine. He is always available to help during office hours and in class. Would recommend if you have a choice!

Mr. Lyons does an excellent job lecturing on aviation. He explains difficult concepts clearly, and he is willingly to re-explain until you understand. He is interesting to listen to, and he is always willing to meet you in office hours to answer questions.

I took Lyons for University Seminar and he is seriously so laid back and easy. I was not a aviation major but he was so nice and easy to talk to! I definitely would take him again! we never used the book until the last day! We stayed in class around 15seconds to 30 minutes!

Mr. Lyons is fantastic and all the classes he teaches are great. You can tell he really cares about his students and the program. He also gives out extra credit randomly for random things and its awesome.

Dr. Lyons is absolutely amazing, I had him for my Private Ground 1 class. Since aviation is such a difficult carrel field, it makes this class all the more difficult. Taking that into consideration, Dr. Lyons makes it very enjoyable making a lot of jokes while also giving us the information we need. While that is true, it is vital to read as well.

I LOVE professor Lyons. He's my favorite professor in the aviation department. He's really funny and actually cares about wether or not you pass the class. He explains anything that you are having trouble with and explains to were its simple and clear. His lectures are awesome and he's just an all around great guy.

Dr. Lyons is by far the most entertaining teacher in the aviation department. While he may not really teach in class, if you bring a question to class, he answers it very fully so that you understand it. The material that is covered in class is not what is on the test, but it is what you may actually use later in one's aviation career.

Everything is really great with Lyons, only complaint may be there aren't many PowerPoints to guide notes, notes are up to you for the most part.

Professor Lyons is very effective in conveying the content in this class to the student. Even if the subject is not a particularly interesting one, he is still able to keep the lectures lively and enticing. The tests will require a lot of studying as they are formatted like FAA exams, but he gives numerous opportunities for bonus points.

Dr. Lyons is a great teacher who has an amazing ability to take the FAA course material and makes it fun to learn. He consistently comes up with good analogies to help his students out during class and helps break down the coursework so it's easy to understand. Just make sure you read the textbooks, the FAA does not mess around with their tests.

He is an amazing professor and keeps the class entertained while still learning. He wants everyone to succeed and likes hard workers. I would 100% recommend taking him.

Dr. Lyons is a fantastic professor. He is extremely approachable on all matters, and truly makes class enjoyable. He does not use power points 90% of the time so that can make note taking a little more difficult, but if you read the textbook, study Shepard air on the side, and pay attention in class it wont be that hard to get an A.

Such a good teacher to take as you start PRAV. He's funny, gives bonus and is engaging. He would rather talk about aviation than go over slides. He says Gangsta and Thug a lot. You will definitely learn what you need to. Read the book and study the book. 3 grades which are the 3 tests. 10/10

Doc Lyons is extremely entertaining. He makes jokes, is always happy, and wants you to succeed. His lectures are primarily dialogue-based with essentially no powerpoints; however, he occasionally does show figures during class. His only grades are Exams 1, 2, and 3, so there is little room for error. He does provide bonus points in class though.

Dr. Lyons is one of the best to ever do it. His lectures are engaging and funny and he makes you look forward to attending class. He has a very good grasp of what he is teaching and always has answers to questions, or will always find the answer to the question. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities.
