fabulous man

Very rich lectures, but he holds very biased views.
online lecture notes are excellent and suppl. reader is long but worthwhile.
One of the best courses I've taken. Very expensive, over $200 for textbooks.
Peterson's class has SO much reading, but he's a good lecturer
he's enthusiastic, although i wouldn't recommend this course if you're not into philosophy... this course is WAY to artsy. assignments/essays need more organization. you basically don't even need to read his text and still do pretty well.
Peterson is one of the best psych professors at UofT. Take this course!
I don't understand many of his lectures!! He's defintely very enthusiatic, but his choice of words is hard for me to comprehend(note that my first language is not english). I feel that it's more like a philosophy course. The readings are long and hard.
lectures orgasmic. readings long but interesting. disorganized but that adds to the experience - you come to class not knowing quite what you're going to get. enlightening, in short.
This former Harvard-prof is a diamond in the rough at UT Psychology. It is true that he can be artsy and unprepared for class, but he a genius (and helpful to boot)! Take his class as personal individuation as well as academically. He interestingly links psychoanalysis and neuropsychology.
THIS MAN IS A GENIUS!!! He may ramble on, but if you listen carefully, it all makes perfect sense. He just knows so much!! It's bliss sitting in his class, finding more about the world and myself. This prof opens up a whole new world. NOT recommended for those who speak English as a second language
The most engaging, dynamic, and insightful lecturer ever. Lectures are always informative, interesting, stimulating, and conducive to an invaluable learning experience. Has made my undergraduate studies more meaningful because of his highly sophisticated and intellectual lecture structure and style.
I have to agree with almost everyone that the content and style of his lectures have a wonderful depth to them. However, in my opinion, he is also the least helpful professor (outside of the class room) in the psychology department when it comes to responding to questions or emails.

The most amazing psychology professor in the department. One that has tremoundous character, compassion and understanding for students. This course as said by his university ratings, will transform your thinking and perspective on life.
Possibly the most engaging and insightful prof at U of T. Every word he speaks is gold. A role model for other teachers. That he may not be very helpful is not his fault - he is simply too busy.
HIs lectures can be really, really inspiring. It helps too that he practices as a psychologist because his experiences have great impact on giving examples. He does help students right after class. His lectures are not merely given as a way to teach theories but, as cheesy as it might sound, the theories become sort of a lesson about people and lif
He is a good speaker and is able to fool many with his pretentiousness, but there's not much behind the words. He's not particularly well-informed or bright and rarely has anything insightful to say.
Not sure what the last two comments are on about, he is a genius. I want to be him when I grow up. Read "What the best college teachers do", and he does all of them. Absolutely fantastic. I will be taking more courses by him and sitting in on this one again.
Amazing prof who gives life-changing lectures. People who say he's not helpful have not witnessed him answering questions after class for 30 mins. There may be a lot of readings but all you need to know is the gist--the tests are easy. I don't understand the 'biased' claims--he's opinionated, but open to different views. Passionate & brilliant.
The post below on 3/30/08 is completely ludacris. Peterson is the best prof I have ever had. He is not pretentious, he is in fact very kind if you ever talk to him one on one. B+ class average, lots of source readings (not prescribed textbook),presents cutting edge theories and draws from his ongoing clinical experience.
I like his lectures a lot but he does in fact have certain biases, especially displays of orientalism.hes also said that some womens concerns were bull****.will never answer email, phone, no office hours. wait about 2 months for a 40 question mc scantron exam to b returned. but his lectures are captivating.
Amazing lecturer
Without a doubt the most intelligent, charismatic and articulate prof. I have ever encountered. He mesmerizes the audience with his flawless speaking skills and infinitely vast pool of knowledge. THE most inspiring lectures any U of T student could attennd! Simply "bloody amazing" experience!
As some1 already said - "lectures orgasmic".But seriously, he says things that you need to hear someone say. You'll discover that you've always known all of that, but never put it into words. He does that for you & opens your eyes.I wish I were as articulate, knowledgeable, and bloody brilliant.A role model, not just for other profs, but for everyone
Great prof... Also a babe!!!!
I audited this class last semester so I can?t comment on the difficulty of his tests. However, the lectures were well worth the time. Cons: tries to figure someone out by the expression on their face, and then seeks to confirm his hypothesis on the most arbitrary events ?like leaving the room when he is talking about death or social hierarchies-?.I
.I found this to be obnoxious. Tells his students his dreams, I found this odd, why would anyone reveal their inner most core to strangers? ?note: this went against a generally unpretentious method of presenting himself-. Suffers from the condition that afflicts all intelletecuals: love-sterility. Lastly, has womb-envy.
Unconsciously/consciously? turns his wedding ring in front of attractive female students?very curious. Pros: He has probably experienced Dionysus. Integrates vast amounts of information into a coherent and interesting whole. Has stumbled upon some mysteries of the deep. Overall; Brilliant?U of T is lucky to have him.
i wan't to apologize if my comments offended. also, i did not say it, but Peterson is a very good person.
Inspiring lectures. GREAT Prof
Very interesting lectures, but test questions were very random, and sometimes not even stuff we read or covered, so it was very hard to know what to study.
This class changed my life.
Life changing class i think... I LOVED going to class
His course changed my entire perception of the world & it taught me a better way to live in it. By far it was one of the best, most useful course I've ever taken in all of my undergrad classes.
I LOVELOVELOVE his classes. He is so interesting that I'm actually attending a debate he's in next week, the night before I have two essays due. He is that epic.
Extremely confusing, hundreds of pages of readings, many of which are not relevant. Tests are hard. He's extremely entusiastic and loves/ believes everything he is lecturing, which sometimes makes it hard to keep up!
really difficult to keep up, jumps from topic to topic. Textbook was pretty useless as were many readings.
He has by far the most interesting lectures and topics, but not useful for getting high grades. The primary readings was where he expect you to learn from, but tend to be too technical. Textbook is useless. With all that said, if you are genuinely interested in what he is saying and put in work, it will be the most rewarding class you can take.
I wouldn't describe this class as "life changing" as most people here seem to say, but the lectures were definitely very interesting and a treat to attend. Lots of readings but if you get the main overall ideas, the tests are fine and easy. Overall a rewarding course with an excellent professor
The tests were hard and kind of unpredictable, but the prof was amazing. He was very inspiring, and really offered great tools for self-improvement, specifically student-oriented ones. Always made me feel bad for slacking - I want to be able to download his lectures and listen to them when I need a pep talk!
Great prof, most interesting lectures you'll ever attend. Not easy material and plenty of reading. But if you attend regularly and are interested in the subject matter you will learn a lot. Very satisfied with this prof, highly recommend!!
Great Lectures despite not having good power point sides. I loved this prof but I don't recommend this course to anyone cause its almost impossible to get an A.
He is absolutely amazing! He will change the way you view the world and will probably make you a better person if you take his words seriously. There is this depth to him and his lectures that most (if not all) other professors lack. He also cares about morality/integrity, which makes me respect him even more, as few profs make a point of it.
Poorly organized. This class will appeal to the same crowd that loves TED talks - its all fluff - he's more interested in telling a good story than science, in fact he's pretty anti-science for a scientist.
He talks like a TED talk :) ...tests are crazy hard though so I just dropped the course. Class average on midterm was C+
If you're not one for LONG philosophical readings, do yourself a favor and DON'T take this course! He says it himself at the beginning. His lectures are great. I wouldn't go so far as to say they were life changing, but they were interesting to say the least! Personally, I think auditing this course would have been a better option for me.
Test was way too hard. Some questions had not logical right answer, even if you study hard it doesn'tmean you'll get a good mark. His lectures were great though
Fantastic professor. Don't take this class if you aren't interested in philosophical ideas. Take this class with an open mind. Don't take this class if you are quite convinced of your current worldview. Comment that he is "anti science" is moronic.
Peterson's lectures, powerpoints, readings, and tests are all almost unrelated to each other. Material can be challenging. HOWEVER, he is an AMAZING and inspirational lecturer, so I highly recommend taking his course. Attend ALL lectures, listen closely, skim the readings, and you'll be able to get a decent grade and some life lessons too :)
I cannot rave about Peterson's genius enough. A true thinker who WILL challenge your ideas at the very least. Quite philosophically oriented so this course isn't for steadfast science folks. His research spans neuroscience, personality measures, big 5 IQ tests etc. Tests aren't that hard. Studied 2/3 days before each, got 86%. Don't pass on this.
Profoundly insightful. Life-changing. Great lecturer. Must take class.
Unnecessarily verbose. His ideas are interesting, but his presentation is disorganized. He could make the same points with much less words, but chooses to be somewhat rambly. His writing reads like a century old philosophy text (he authored the textbook).
Peterson is just amazing all-around. His lectures introduce fascinating ideas and he draws on both neuroscience and philosophy (so be wary if you can't handle both). His office hours are fantastic and he's exceptionally helpful and understanding. All the lectures are additionally recorded and posted online. Tests were pretty easy.
I fell in love with this course. His class is very fair, and easy to do well if you put in a decent amount of work. He definitely introduces important concepts from a philosophical background which is latter complement and supported from a background in neuroscience. Overall amazing class.
Best course Ive ever taken. I would recommen it to anyone having trouble in any aspect of their life. Its more of a self- building workshop than a psych course ... But tricks you into learning how to do both.
He cares about your life. he wants you to understand. The assignments are more an educational experience than a taxing task. You want to do the work more than youve ever wanted to.
he blew my mind.
He has very inspiring and abstract lectures, nothing is concrete however be prepared to read A LOT. If anything get together with a friend a split readings and share notes just to make it a little easier. His multiple choice exams are okay. Unpredictable marks mostly but good unpredictable - just focus on main points and things he talks about a lot
Dont take this if you dont have to.
Interesting lectures, very engaging. Quite obviously a very intelligent man and it shows during lecture. Some of the questions are unfair- you can study all the material and find nothing that would help you answer them.
Probably the best professor I've ever had. Very intelligent and passionate about the topic. His lectures are the most inspiring. I was never disappointed with any lecture.
He posts his lectures online but it will never beat his classroom lectures. Very engaging and inspirational. Requires you to pay attention, read books and work hard but totally worth it
Changed my life and how I think. Everything you could ever want out of a Psychology class - brilliant lecture, terrifyingly eloquent, and enthusiastic. Tests were difficult, but well worth it. Would take a million times over.
Doesn't have lecture slides or notes and is late posting practice questions. Extremely difficult to study for because of the lengthly and difficult readings. Hard to discern what is important and what isn't. His lectures won't be interesting if you're not interested in philosophy or dead people. His lectures are the complete opposite of succinct.
The only teacher I've admired in my academic career. Not your usual professor. This guy has a depth to his thinking and ideas. He's got life figured out!
Apparently you do not have to comment on the actual course on this site, and can rather make comments on the use of "pronouns" as an indicator of the quality of the professor. Dr. Peterson is inspirational, intelligent, and brave. He says what he thinks is right. He does not wander from it. Excellent man and prof!!
Peterson is absolutely brilliant as a professor and as a person. The content of this course is so important and you couldn't ask for a better or more passionate professor to deliver these lectures. Challenging and immensely rewarding.
Professor Peterson is utterly brilliant. He is my spirit animal, my guru. I love myself more after taking his course because I have a far better understanding of myself and the world after his guidance. He is a conduit for truth. Awe inspiring!
One of the best, most passionate and inspiration professors on this campus
Took his Personality course last year. I would describe Peterson's lecturing as nothing short of a profound craft. He drives home his thoughtful intellect with such conviction, and somewhere throughout that process, something in you becomes awakened. One of a kind Prof, he is.
Best teacher that I have ever had
Brilliant man. Does more than just teaching; he inspires. Bravo
I am an introverted person and had loads of problems in my own life. Prof. Peterson has become my medicine since his first lecture. He is such an intellect and I cannot get enough of him. He is always on point and never hesitates from speakiing the truth. If you don't got life figured out, come to his lecture and you will be amazed.
He's the best professor I have ever had. Absolutely life-changing. I have never had my views on so many subjects changed so rapidly. It is a tough class, but it's fascinating and totally worth your time.
I learned things about myself that I never knew before. Exactly what you'd want out of a psych class. Can this much knowledge be contained in one person?
Awesome
This guy was born to teach. You can't teach a person to control a classroom and maintain interest like this. He's got a gift.
He is a great professor. He is very smart and is not afraid to have an opinion. Free speech is crucial in order to ensure a peaceful world where we care for everyone and not just specific people.
Cool dude would do again.
Make sure to listen carefully when he talks about Jung, the book itself is hard to read but he's able to make it sound easier and interesting. Highly recommend.
An academic in the truest sense of the word. Cares about free speech, stands up to the Campus Left, and comes across as stoic without being pretentious. Love his accent.
Dr. Peterson is, in a word, wonderful. He is one of those rare professors who actively desires to help you learn and inspire you to learn. You'll never be bored during one of his classes, and if you are, it says far more about you than it does Dr. Peterson. He's a gift. Not only does he know his ish, he will help you to be a better person.
Awesome class. He records all the lectures on YouTube.
He is great
ROUGHLY SPEAKING, a gr8 professor.
best lecturer in the department
Alongside my official academic course load, I've been following Professor Peterson's spring lectures for his class "Maps of Meaning" on Youtube. I've taken it as seriously as my other classes, and I'd say I've learned more from this course than just about any I've ever taken.
A master sorter in all it's shining sorting glory
It's the first online class that actually made me want to buy and read books outside of my safe space. Jordan Peterson made me clean my room, write about myself and rescue my father from the bottom of the ocean. I am now a genuine individual.
Every lecture is like a TED talk. Very fascinating. Dr Peterson changed my life more that any other prof at UofT. I honestly can't get enough of him. Only negative is that the course could have been a bit more organized and his reading are exceptionally difficult reads... so his courses are not an easy courses.
Awesome Prof
Incredible professor. You can preview what kind of class it's going to be like by looking up his videos on YouTube, they got millions of views. Recommend JBP to anyone who wants to test the limits of their academic ability. World class
Best professor at UoT! You will have to work for grade, but it will be worth it.
Excellent lecturer. I listened to his Personality and its Transformations course. It will be truly life changing for those who haven't already deeply immersed themselves in the greatest philosophies western civilization has produced.
Love this prof and his lectures. Very intelligent and enlightening man. Highly recommend.
You must listen to his lectures on youtube. He is absolutely fascinating. This guy has so far blown my mind. There is so much more beyond the ongoing freespeech/Bill C-16 discussion.
Brilliant communicator. Excellent breadth of knowledge.
Amazing professor. I would go see his lectures even though I wasn't enrolled in the class. Inspired me to minor in psychology.
He is simply the best proffesor.
When a professor becomes famous because of his lectures you know he's good.
This man is brilliant. Best Professor ever.
Wonderful Professor, simply amazing
His lectures were spectacular. It was an enjoyment to listen to his profound thoughts. But there are tons of readings, like 100 pages a week.
Professor Jordan Peterson is one of the greatest professors of our time. Incredible professors and you should take his classes just to witness a living legend.
Excellent professor!
His lectures were spectacular. It was an enjoyment to listen to his profound thoughts. But there are tons of readings.
There are not enough words to describe how amazing he was as a professor. He genuinely cares about his student and wants us to do well. The knowledge he shared on every lecture shaped me into a better version of myself. He is so well read on so many different areas of psychology, neurology, filosphy, literature. He is a real gem at UofT.
Captivating lectures and useful material in the course and in life in general. I enjoyed the free-flowing lectures, but I can see how some people find them disorganized.
Inspirational Professor who genuinely cares. Unique viewpoints in a world where we must listen to one dull academic with thr same views after another. He us a fantastic teacher.
Amazinggggg. Literally helped me so much without even realizing it. The world is so complex and Dr. Peterson helps you develop the skills to navigate successfully through it.
Spectacular.
Great.
Truly life changing in empirical analysis. True genius...
The material he teaches has been unbelievably useful in my practice.
Dr. Peterson is by far the greatest professor I've ever had. He gives amazing lectures and teaches in a way that changes lives. I went into his class thinking what I believed was the end all be all but after coming out of it I reexamined my beliefs and learned that life was bigger than I had imagined. Dr. Peterson is the smartest man I've met.
Best Teacher Ever !!!!!!!
Amazing.
Professor Peterson is an inspiring and charismatic professor that truly cares for his students.
Smart guy
Most wonderful man I've ever met. A real inspiration for all his students.
Amazing
he's amazing!
From UofT prof to saving humanity from the brink of destruction. Absolute L E G E N D!!!
Although quite a few of the ratings on this page are from fans, Dr. Peterson truly is a great teacher if you meet him half way. He does have a few biases, but tries his best to be fair. come to class, read and you will get an A
Read - Read everything he asks you to - it will change your whole life
Lectures were inspiring! Check out Prof Peterson's Youtube channel
Best professor/teacher I ever had in my entire life.
I wish I could ask some more questions but his recent surge in popularity has also sky-rocketed the number of people in his classes. Not much time to dive into questions.
One of, if not the, best Professor currently teaching at U of T. A Real inspiration.
Changed my life
Great professor that knows what he's talking about and brings high-level concepts back down to Earth. Very inspirational, great personality, and is overall one of if not the best professor on campus and around the globe! God bless!
cool man guy 10/10
I love this man! He changed my life! Or maybe the life of all Canadian men.
top lobster
Amazing professors
good prof
Terrible prof.
A real gem.
Amazing professor & person.
This man saved my life. Literally.
One of the best profs I've had at U of T. Not gonna lie, I fall asleep during some of his lectures but thats just me, it is a very interesting class that is easy to do well in if you show up and just pay attention.
Inspirational Scholar
Fantastic experience!
Amazing prof. Hung on every word he spoke, really makes you think deeply about tough issues. Hugely popular now in the media and has acquired a lot of fame which is actually unfortunate for the students of UofT who look to him as a professor, to learn from, to take courses from.
best professor ever!
An amazing professor, with fascinating lectures and interesting course material. Open to questions and constructive, respectful discussion. Explains things well and cares for his students deeply. Also, love his book! It was an honour to have a professor with such a strong psychology background and one who is so respected worldwide.
Best professor ever! You can do this!
Pretty good lecturer! Provides great examples for heavy concepts. Tough grader, but you can do it if you show up to his lectures.
If he sticks to the subject matter he seems to know his stuff but then he enters into flights of weird speculation that he is passionate about but doesn't seem to be course relevant. Imagine a hyperactive teen who just got a library card and needs to share some random thought about each book he has read in an angst ridden stream of consciousness.
Hes a good teacher
He was one of the most intelligent and eloquent people I have ever had the chance to meet. Provides space for discussion, deliberation, and disagreement, and respects differing points of view. Fantastic person and profound speaker. I know hes not at U of T currently, but if you ever get the chance to take a class with him dont think twice!
Great Professor
His lectures were truly beyond what i could imagine
Excellent teacher!
I'm an avid listener of his Youtube series
An honest man
For once, this is the one person that showed me my lack of knowledge in supporting what i want to say. Me being a liberal thingy, i wish i could have the data this man has to back literally everything i have stood for so far. I lost everyone of my liberal friends for doing so. So, thank you, for showing me that i am not a lunatic
Was a great professor ! Very inspirational
This maze of a man is amazing
Best to learn from. Very comprehensive knowledge, lots of background.
Mr. Peterson is the definition of an alpha male. Most of the students in class would tremble in fear as he said "good afternoon ladies and gentlemen". His lectures are outstanding, showing utter dominance on the topics. Occasionally there would be some arguing from the back of the class but Mr. Peterson completely shut them down with facts.
The man among boys. Tells it like it is.
I believe Dr. Peterson is a true teacher, learner and important for academia. Im glad I was able to take this class.
An absolute beast. Speaks with clarity and conciseness on a wide range of topics and for the most part leaves the hogwash at the door.
Inspirational individual
Exams can be difficult but hes an amazing professor.
The greatest.
His lectures have changed my life absolutely.
This man has changed my life. 100% would recommend taking a class with Dr. Peterson. An absolute legend. If you do not have the opportunity to take his class I highly suggest reading his book 12 Rules For Life. Life changer as well. Truly one of the smartest most well known and respected prof's in the world.
Found out about Dr. Peterson on the Joe Rogan Experience. After being accepted to U of T I knew I had to take a class with him. The best class I have ever taken in University (even though psychology doesn't really interest me), and the best professor I have ever had. Don't pass on an opportunity to take one of his classes. A true intellectual.
I would hesitate to commend his brevity (or all of his political stances); but regardless, he is the most profoundly insightful thinker I've had the pleasure of listening to. He has helped me find meaning in a nihilist world; he has helped me reconcile science, psychology, and belief; and he has a knack for synthesizing large time spans of wisdom.
He is the best prof I've ever had
Truly one of the greatest intellectual minds of modern-day and in academica. His viewpoints and lectures are extremely thorough and he is willing to hear opposite viewpoints. He always conducts himself professionally and is a gentleman to everyone, please take this professor if you wish to actually have your beliefs challenged.
This guy changed my life via posting his online lectures on Youtube. Scroll to his 2014 or earlier reviews to find people who actually took his classes. I hope that I can someday meet him and thank him for potentially saving, and at the very least, profoundly changing my life for the better.
What a legend. One of the smartest people I've ever heard speak. It's a true rarity to find a college professor who is so knowledgeable on seemly everything, and can articulate it well and respectfully to the class. If you ever get the chance to take him and actually want to learn from university, take this man.
Best Prof I've ever had
This guy is my hero. I have never listened to a more passionate, caring, introspective, and just all around respectable professor. I found it so genuine that he didn't always have all the answers (like most psych profs act like they do). He was reflective and open. JP was an absolute gem at UofT and he changed my life. I owe so much to you prof!
An amazing man. I'm glad he's doing what he's doing.
One of the most genuine, intelligent people you will ever meet. His course was definitely tough, but I can truly say I learned something.
It is really a privilege to have him as your teacher.
He was tough on grading.
Professor Peterson is likely the most knowledgeable man you'll ever meet. He is the definition of a critical thinker. An honor to learn from someone who teaches you more than an easy "memorize this" grade. Like him or not, the man speaks truth.
One of the best advisor I have ever encountered in my entire life.
The greatest lectures I have ever seen. I have rewatched several of them due to how good they are.
Best professor in the world!!!
he was ok but i no longer believe that psychology is a real science
enjoyed this very much
I should've become a medical doctor like my family wanted me to
He gave okay lectures, but truth be told he just had some weird underlying ideas that became apparent as the semester went on. Wouldn't recommend unless you really, really need the course, in which case try not to think too much - if you can avoid actually engaging with his ideas you'll make it through.
Great content, insights, style. Useful material. Tough assignments.
Hes great man, really a great guy, wish he didn't retire
