Do Not Take Baca, hes speeds through the lecture piles on homework, and expects u to understand the material once it comes out of his mouth. If math is not your subject(like me) then u will be better off taking Math 101. It's much Easier.
He is a great teacher. He offers help and is always trying to take time to make sure everyone understands. Even if Math isn't your thing if you put in effort you will be fine...After all Math takes time
Baca is a very good teacher...if you dont understand something he will explain it to you until you do...he is the best math professor on crc campus...
Baca is a straightforward professor with a seriousness about math and a love of life with humor applied through the lectures. The material is emphasized and a lot of homework is necessary as the tests are hard. But I am excelling in a subject that I generally dislike. Baca is a passionate teacher who cares if you learn the material.
Great teacher, he explains everything clearly. If you have a question or need help he'll explain it until you get it. Just don't miss the classes or lectures, and do your homework! He doesn't collect all of them but sometimes he would collect lessons out of no where. He just wants to make sure everyone gets it! Great math professor
Really easy, gets kind of sad when people leave during his lecture. sometimes he can be funny and sometimes you just wanna fall asleep but he's really cool and helpful during his lectures. he explains really clear, you just have to listen and follow along. if you fail, your just dumb
He is a really good teacher but sometimes gets you confused but you can ask him again. He is very helpful in his office hours and if you do the homework, the tests and quizs are similar problems. I highly recommend him
Baca is a great professor. Baca is willing to meet with students outside of class if they need more help. He also offers extra credit that adds on to your final exam. Stay on track with the homework and the tests will be easy.
He is a good teacher ,but he assigns a ton of Hw. He also uses webassign which sucks. The whole class had problems with it. He was fair though and drop abunch of the HW to make up for it. I would take him again.
Baca is a great teacher! His lectures are fun so therefore you won't fall asleep in class. If math is not your subject (like me) don't fret, ask questions and he'll explain it to you until you understand. He's very encouraging and fair in the way he grades. His test aren't easy, so study and keep up with the HW and you'll do fine.
Algebra is a difficult subject for me. I worked my butt off in this class and passed with a B in summer school. Professor Baca did a great job. His sense of humor makes a dreary subject tolerable. He was very helpful and supportive if I needed help
He is a great teacher to take regardless of your understanding of math. He makes it clear and goes step by step for those who need it and willingly answers question for those with a higher understanding. His class is actually fun to be in, try not to miss any days and be on time (its best for you).. One of the best math teachers I've come across!
Helped me understand math. Math is difficult for me, but, Professor Baca is good at explaining math concepts taught in class. Highly recommended!
Math isin't my best subject. I passed this class this semester. It's challenging, but is explained well by Baca. Good Class, Take Him.
Great teacher very very easy i like attending class he made it go by fast and was kinda funny at times so far he is my favorite professor.
great teacher funny at times explains very well and his lectures are very clear
Math is my worst subject, but Professor Baca takes time to help you understand the material just ask. Very Helpful.
Online hw w/options: watch a example, see step by step, chat w/tutor & practice another version. Was apprehensive about a hybrid class but I think it really helped me. Credit for hw, in clss wrk, quizzes, tests and also give ec. Very fair grader, open to all questions very helpful, funny and sweet. Go 2 class + take good notes + do all wrk =passing
Statistics 300. He is a nice teacher but the class is very hard. The homework is not what we go over in class. Should spend more time explaining, but doesn't. As a professor, he is very nice, but if you're like me, who hasn't been to school for a while because of parenting, then dont take this class. Very Hard.
Algebra is not my favorite subject but Baca is a lively teacher and works hard to keep the class engaged in the topic and spends all of his time in class working on examples and answering questions. He is passionate about teaching this subject and it shows each day. He gets an A for energetic effort!
In my opinion ladies, or gents, this class is HARD. I'm in his Tuesday and thursday Stat300 class and let's just say this....about half of the class is failing. Very hard teacher. The test you take online was not taught well in class. He doesn't thoroughly teaches you each section. Very hard ladies. If you want to pass find another teacher.
very hard teacher. most of the class is failing, i eneded up dropping it because he moves too fast. 3 lessons in one day. the hw sucks because its all online and the questions are nothing like what we would learn in class. and the website is very picky with how you are allowed to answer a question. hes a good person but not a good teacher.
ive taken 2 math classes with him. I hated math(had f's through hs) before, but the way he teaches is great helped me out step by step, put it in simple terms for me. make sure to ask questions and he will help you. he is funny and a great teacher. would recommend him dont miss class or you get left behind unless u put the extra time in.
Class has online components-hmwk & quizes. He may be good @ lower division classes but not STAT300. The most challenging class EVER! I'm a straight "A" student & almost done with the class-3wks left. I have a low "C" now. Quizes/Tests-DONT study, worthless, NOT at all similar to anything he teaches, so you'll fail anyways. Good luck with him.
He is such a good teacher! You use webassign for homework and the quiz plus test are easy if you participate and listen in class.
RUN!!!!!!! Do NOT take this professor. What he teaches in class is not at all what is on the quizes/tests. HW is NOT 2 hr per day as he claims, it's more like 6-8 hr per night. Better off teaching yourself from the book. Definatly need the calc. He always states "don't worry about it" when you need additional assistance but it's your grade rrrr!!!
Easy teacher!!! Super fun, and super funny!I love math and took the class because I was rusty and didn't do well on the prelim exam. He uses Webassign which is a really nice site with quizes and homework available online. He has extra credit available frequently.
Best math teacher ever! He goes over material very well. His sense of humor makes math be a lot more interesting. Homework and Quiz's are on web assign.
He is such a nice teacher.
best teacher totake for math :)
I recently took him for the spring semester for Math 100 and I can say that he is a nice, funny, and interesting professor. He gave extra credit on every homework problem completed 24 hours before the due date and he gave 10 percent extra credit on the final to anyone who corrected all "4" of their exams. He is an Excellent professor.
Great teacher. At first I really disliked the teacher but as the semester progressed i realized he is really helpful! You can come to him in office hours and he will answer any questions! He gives a TON of extra credit!!!! Its very manageable to get an A or a B, but you must do the hw and keep up to date with it!
he is really helpfull when you need it. he explains everything so clearly. BEST teacher to have.
He is a really GREAT professor. I took him in the summer for math 30 and he was very understandable and clear on explaining the assignments. If you don't understand he will explain it to you until you understand it. He also makes the class fun and exciting. He makes up song catchy songs to help you remember the steps to take, in some situations.
Class has online components-hmwk & quizes. He may be good @ lower division classes but not STAT300. The most challenging class EVER! Quizes/Tests- online and HARD!!, NOT at all similar to anything he teaches, so you'll fail anyways. Good luck with him. Hes nice but not enough to round your grade up so you pass! RUN dont take him
Prof. Baca is a great teacher! He helps you with problems, breaks down everything if you do not understand. Handouts are pretty easy since you just go over the lesson, homework is online when i took him (WebAssign). Class is really easy if you just pay attention not hard but really laid back professor just dont use your cellphone in class.
Don't take this professor for Stats. 300. If you have a question, forget about getting clear answer. He is just unable to explain things in a simple manner. 90% of his students need tutors or sit at math labs asking for help. Lots of Hwk &Qzs on WebAssign. Tests are hard. I got a good grade in his class but that's because I self taught myself.
Baca is great teacher who is interested in your understanding the concepts and provides many opportunities for you to boost your grade. Pleasant class attitude and he makes it more interesting than others I took. I took one class with another teacher, then I had to repeat so took online. Baca was best of the three.
Honestly, the worst Professor. Doesn't review anything in class, expects you to do lecture online and not need any explaining on how to do the problems. If you ask for help, he doesn't answer or try to help, he expects the people in your group to help even if they don't understand. Just over all horrible. Funny but not worth it Ended up dropping it
He does not teach at all. Puts notes online and expects you to be able to do everything without help. Dropped the class because I learned absolutely nothing.
He's funny--but horrible teacher-Suck BIG TIME! Home works, quizzes are online, and it's extremely hard-- beware! his teaching is not the same as the work online. He does give extra credit if you turn on your work one day( or more) early, but how the hell do you turn it in when you don't even understand how to do them?!
This guy SUCK big time--funny guy, but understanding the course? Forget it! Homework, and quizzes are done online, and its nothing like what he teach in class. Extra credit if you turn homework in early, but most of the students in my class wasn't able to do that because they can't even understand the assignment.
This professor has his notes for you to read over to study. Homework and class work is an amazing buffer to your grade if you suck at math (30% max). Gives out extra credit and responds IMMIDIATELY to any questions. Professor also is very accomidating if you do not understand something. Like extentions or adding extra credit work. Fun class.
His class is largely based on your effectiveness to do and study the homework and class notes. there are no study guides and the tests are not easy. Expect to do some collaboration with fellow classmates for group study. He does give some extra credit to balance your grade, but with that large amounts of homework that are collected every week.
10 percent of your grade is home work, masteries (at home quiz), worksheet (u get this in class). Baca only wants 9/10 Homework and Mastery, the rest is extra credit. Worksheets are not corrected, but they ARE YOUR STUDY NOTES. Free 10 points there. Meaning that 25-30 percent buffer right off the bat. Grades off the curve on everything. Good prof.
Baca is a good professor, but he does not adequately prepare you for the mathematic problems you encounter on the online homework. Although the online homework comes with instructional videos, they're not as helpful compared to an actual professor.
His lectures and the homework do not correspond to his exams, which are extremely difficult. Very tough grader. Will only give you 2 out of 13 points if you solve the problem right, but graph the equation wrong by one x-value. only 12 studnets left in the class.
This guy gives 3-5 examples of a concept and expects you to deconstruct it on your own. His tests may give a concept backward or with content/material not gone over in class. If you are good at self-teaching, this is the professor for you, because he doesn't "teach"/care at all. Went into this class with a 4.0 and failed every single exam. Beware!
4 Exams and 1 final. Recommendation: Know your Circle, Ellipse, Parabola, Hyperbola; polynomial, rational inequality, Gaussian Jordan, Angle Bearing, Factoring, 90-60-30-and-45-45-90 triangle. Doing Homework alone will not help you on the exam. His exams focus on principles and theories. Studying similar materials from other sources will help.
His class was okay.. He was a great professor but math 120 isn't for me. His tests were difficult and there were many word problems. I'm kind of surprised that I pass with a C. He uses an online support which isn't bad. Math 120 in general isn't easy.
Great great great guy. He is always willing to answer questions and help you. Math has never been my strong suit, but statistics isnt too hard to understand. However, his tests are extremely hard. No cheat sheets, calculators are allowed sometimes, but not all the time. 4 tests including the final.
Read reviews before taking, DON'T TAKE. He seems like a good teacher, but doesn't know what he's doing half the time and reads off the screen for lecture. Does very few examples and doesn't do a good job of explaining during lectures. Online homework is a pain and if you can avoid him, AVOID HIM. Thought I'd do fine, but not a good teacher.
Fantastic teacher, you'll love taking his classes.
Fantastic teacher, you'll love taking his classes. Enjoy.
We used a textbook the whole class and he handed out worksheets to do no online aspect. He did assign a quite a bit of homework but gave you plenty of time to do it. He explains thing as simple as possible and always went over material if we weren't sure of something show up for class he's very nice and gives you every opportunity to pass.
For trigonometry just don't try him and don't be fooled by the rating. Click the categories button for math335. This is for the students that just aces every course, spending the whole day studying until they understand, and are spending the time to critical think and do it then review day and night. Love multiple concepts in the one problem.
Grading is a bit weird, but other than that he is a great professor. Ask any question as many times as you want and he'll answer it. Salute to his patience.
Baca is amazing. Granted I took a 5 credit course so there was a lot of homework however he does explain everything well and there is free tutoring. He is funny, he loves teaching and he is very understanding. As long as you participate and do all of the assignments you should pass with an A or B.
He possesses zero to no organization whatsoever, so be ready to get behind schedule by weeks margin. Since the homework and quizzes are done online, his grading expectation for the written tests is unclear at worst. Other than that, quite an entertaining guy, sure, but that's not what being a decent instructor is all about.
Baca is a great guy, funny, and wiling to help. There was A LOT online homework, quizzes every other week, then a test following week, in class worksheets and I felt overloaded even though I was trying my hardest to keep up. What he taught didn't correspond to what was on the test or homework and I had to drop the class.
He was great! Learned a lot from taking this class and he was ready to help at all times. Honestly a great teacher, loved taking this class.
great teacher. if you ask him questions he will definitely help you understand. its best to stay on top of the assignments online because it will pile up and they take forever. very clear on what he wants as answers on quizzes and exams, if you don't do all of it you get points off
Great teacher
I have mixed feelings about taking this class. The projects were easy and he gave step by steps on canvas which was helpful. The ConnectMath exams were difficult and a bit different from the exams. I would struggle with the homework but I appreciated the multiple attempts. He graded easier I think on our exams. He was nice. Project for final option
I was scared on taking this class because it was an online but after taking it, it wasn't so bad. I really like how the projects were easy and the exams are similar to the project but its just the numbers are different. The final exam if you take the class online is you could either take the exam or do a big project but with a group of people.
I took him for Math 341. Quiz every 3 sections.. 7 chapters. Exam after 2 chapters ( 3 in total) one final which replaces lowest score on your exams. It's not hard if you study every single time you learn a lecture. If I can do it and pass with an A, you can too! He replies to all my emails and is very helpful. Wants you to succeed.
Super nice professor! He will literally pause teaching if someone has a question- he is that helpful! Keep up with the online homework, pay attention, and you should be fine! Lots of extra credit offered, lowest exam replaced with the final. Most quizzes are take-home/group quizzes. Attendance isn't required but go! Take him! Plus he makes jokes!
He was okay. He assigned way too much homework, and gave tests too long for the time we had, and they felt unpredictable. I couldn't really follow his lectures all too well for any reason. Funny guy though.
Energetic, funny, if he doesn't know something he'll get back to you. Best thing is that he dropped lowest test and replaced with cumulative final grade which is more than fair and makes perfect sense if you struggled early on but learned from your mistakes. He really cares about your success if you put in the work.
Me. Baca is SUCH a great teacher!! He makes everything easy to understand and doesnt rush the materials like most professors. I have always struggled with math classes and didnt do well in my high school math class, but Im doing well in his class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Hes the best.
i absolutely love professor baca. he does his best to engage the class and will always ask if everybody understands before moving on. if there are no objections, he WILL move on. if you're falling behind, say something. hw can be really tedious+long and the exams can also be pretty hard. he drops the lowest exam and wants everyone to succeed
Students are responsible for completing group projects, McGraw Hill ALEKS math connect online homework assignments, chapter homework packets, and mandatory examinations. Although attendance is optional, participation matters most upon learning new textbook chapter material concepts and becoming prepared for examinations. Most importantly, DO WORK!!
Took Professor Baca for Statistics 300, at CRC. Professor Baca was an amazing instructor. He wanted students to succeed. He made the lectures interesting, by applying them to life. He had a great sense of humor when teaching, so learning was fun. I ended up having to drop the class becasue of personal reasons, I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Took Professor Baca, his lectures are amazing. He has a sensor of humor that makes the class fun and interstesting. He wants you to succeed. I submitted another rate my Professor and it was a yellow for like solid teacher or something, it should really be a Gem, I couldnt figure out how to edit it. Pofessor teaches stats using life lessons and exa
Professor Baca is amazing! This was my second time taking STATS 300, I received a D the first time. This semester I passed with an A. He cares about his students! Teaches his class using excel instead of the graphic calculator.
The overall course workload appeared manageable performing plenty of practice chapter homework assignments and online ALEKS McGraw-Hill Math Connect problems, therefore we applied Microsoft Excel software program tool and even sometimes calculators to solve real-world applications. Professor drops lowest homework and test scores at end of semester.
Caring professor who wants everyone to do well. Tests tend to be much more difficult than homework, but quizzes are very helpful in showing you what to study and are closer to the tests. Do NOT skip class. Highly recommend doing extra practice problems and get very comfortable with word problems. Sometimes a little disorganized, but good professor.
Professor baca was amazing. His lectures are filled with real life problems and he tries his best to be relatable and crack jokes. Lots of group projects and focuses heavy on excel which makes everything super easy. He asks questions throughout lecture incase anybody has a misunderstanding. Made labs and hw super easy during online transition
I loved having Professor Baca. He really cares about his students and wants them to excel. Although his lectures were not mandatory and were recorded, I highly recommend attending them. His lectures are very thorough, and he will not move on until you understand. The class itself is not that difficult if you do the homework and study. 10/10 guy :)
Overall, the class was okay. I could have received a higher grade if I tried harder. His class felt a little disorganized and he would sometimes go on tangents during lectures. Sometimes his explanations weren't helpful. He seems like a nice professor though and was always willing to answer everyone's questions.
Good professor. Discussions every week that covers most of the lab questions and homework is online. Exams are HEAVILY based on homework. Professor has a lot of patience in answering questions.
Mr. Baca is literally the kindest Math teacher one can find. He will patiently answer ALL your questions for hours, holds really good office hours and explains the concepts really well. Math 370 itself is really hard and it can get messy sometimes, but if you keep at it and do all the hws, you should pass. I will miss his class very much!
Professor Baca is an AMAZING math teacher. He will take time to explain anything to anyone. He makes stats easy to understand mechanically and conceptually. I leave this class understanding concepts and knowing how to do the work by hand, in Excel, and on a calculator. I recommend him.
Professor Gorge Baca is one of the best professors. He is a very nice professor and he cares a lot about his students. He helps the students to get good grades and to be successful.
Best professor ever! Stats isnt an easy class but he makes it possible to get an A. He truly wants his students to succeed. Unlimited tries on HW, 20 tries on each quiz, goes over lab w you. 5 exams that are just like the HW. Gives lots of time & latepass. Always responds & offers extra help. I def recommend going to his meetings if you want an A!
Professor Baca is an amazing caring teacher. He responds to emails faster than most professors. He cares about students passing his class. Extremely helpful when you need help. Gives extra credit if your willing to do the work. Highly recommend him.
Professor Baca would probably be one of my favorite professors from CRC because of his charisma and work ethic. I took him for the Summer and passed with A which is hard to believe since Im not a fan of math especially STAT 300. So, if you struggle with math, he will definitely help you understand the material and pass this class with a bang :)
Professor Baca genuinely wants students to pass. He will work with you to make it happen. He provided us with the book and a spreadsheet so we didn't need to go out and buy a stat calculator. Attendance ins't mandatory however if you're not keeping up with the work you will be lost. He is flexible with deadlines and provides extra credit.
Professor Baca was amazing. He is so understanding. You basically get unlimited attempts on homework assignments so that you can really grasp the concept. Attendance is not mandatory but it does help.
Professor Baca is AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed learning from him. He has lectures that are not mandatory, but I highly recommend you attend because you can ask questions and help with your homework. Super funny when we get into off-topic subjects at times which I also enjoyed. Great teacher, fantastic class.**chapter 2 -4 are the devil, lol
Very caring teacher, he would always change due date assignments so we would have more time for assignments. Also get up to 10 late pass assignments which I have not have a professor offer that before so it was very refreshing. If you cannot attend class, I highly recommend attending office hours, helped me get good grades on the exams.
Professor Baca was a great teacher. He made going to class more enjoyable even though I did not pass I wished I had started participating a lot sooner. It helps so much more when you do. Very understanding, always changed due dates if we needed more time. Only thing is he really watches you during the exams someone got caught cheating and got a 0
Professor Baca is a good stats teacher. In high school stats, I got a D+ and hated the subject but Professor Baca made the class easy to understand with his video lectures. I ended the semester with an 89.5% and he was nice enough to round my grade up to 90% for the A-. Overall a good professor for stats.
Straight to the point, good professor. Everything about this class is great. However, if you dont have a printer then I recommend not taking him or else you will have to copy the whole exam down and he expects you to do it quickly. Then you cannot look back at your computer. The only reason why I barely passed this class. It really frustriated me.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS, especially if ur DSPS. I had to go to war to get my accommodations which took 3 months to do FYI. Very unorganized, will always change due dates. U will see questions on the exam that u have not done or gone over. Exams kinda make up ur whole grade. The only reason why I pass is bc of my tutor. This class was a nightmare.
Tough grader, not tough enough educator. Little-to-no articulation in teaching what you need to know to pass testshell teach you 10 concepts, and then test you on 5meaning you wasted your time studying unnecessary material, and if youre unlucky, you unknowingly prioritized a non-tested concept over a tested oneannoyingly. Low-level teacher.
The most challenging aspect ofStatistics&Probabilitycourse was keeping up with everyday homework assignments and incorporating MicrosoftExcelProgramupon solving mathematical problems essentially getting prepared for importantExaminations/Quizzes. Honestly speaking, the course structure wasPOORLYdisorganized and fell behind misunderstanding concepts!
IntroductiontoStatistics&Probabilitycourse was indeedNEGATIVEstudent learning experience and majority of given assignments were graded on exams/quizzes section, especially assessing how much you mastered onMicrosoftExcelprogram and unfortunately students must self-instruct all lectured information via computer applications! CRCtutoringNOTsupportive!
Concerning IntrotoStats&Probabilitycourse,we honestly recommend additional friendly student cooperation levels and professional instructional learning environment! Exams/quizzesMUSTbe straightforward and transparent with coursework materials! Homework assignments and other supplementary material should definitely improve struggling grades please!
SeriouslyProf.Baca, students require professional instructional assistance and friendly communication strategies between fellow classmates. I dropped out of classroom learning environment due to submitting late homework assignments and failing onExams/quizzessection category. I asked questions with classmates and searched online for help thenFAILED!
The Statistics and Probabilitycourse was truly demanding and stressful negative experience for students struggling to understand MicrosoftExcel program functions and graphing calculator processes. Asking loads of questions and making commentariesdidNOTeffectivelyworkout! Prof.Baca, whyare classmates judgmental and ignorant whenever stuck for help?
I personally experienced several difficulties and other inconveniences upon signing up for Statistics&Probabilitycourse, because whenever you got stuck on most difficult mathematical reasoning and analytical processing questions then it's more time-consuming and prone to fail quizzes/exams. Mastering MicrosoftExcelprogram and concepts feltSTRESSFUL!
Mr. Baca is a great professor. I love him. I really like the way he was clear. Very understandable professor. The exams are from the home works. Home works and tests can be done several times. The part that can count the whole grades is the exam. If doing good in exams than you are good to go because it make the whole grade. Good luck.
Prof.Baca,I honestly recommend time effective study guides including mathematical problems from textbook plus lecture notes and simply state closely related exam/quiz content conceptual materials please. Some college students CANNOT AFFORD prioritizing on NON-tested exam material and then achieve failing grades upon already studying other examples.
IntroductiontoProbability&Statisticscourse felt likeAutocratic leadership where Prof.Baca literally constructed ALL DECISIONS and then tell students what MUST be done and how to do it. Prof.Baca impliedBEST LEADERSHIP functions best when dealing with lower-level learners whom are poorly motivated and require more supervision to accomplish the task.
IntroductiontoProbabilityandStatistics should also include instructional social responsibilities and officially represent students time schedule periods without misusing and abusing exams. Many businesses, recognizing that employees lack basic work skills, are becoming more concerned about the quality of educational backgrounds in the United States.
Be prepared with printing out labs. Either that or you will be required to write everything down, points will be taken off if not everything is written down. Exams almost every two weeks. Quizzes every week as well as 2-3 hmw assignments. He does not teach very well, uses excel A LOT. You will HAVE to teach yourself. This is fast pace course.
Professor Baca is one of my favorite teachers, I'm terrible at math and was my second time taking stats, but he made it so much easier than my previous professor. Has a decent amount of homework and quizzes, but you get multiple chances for every question, including tests. Tests aren't too challenging, but you need to do homework and watch lecture.
Intro to Prob&Stats felt worrisome and stressful demanding student learning experience. I honestly think it's impossible to interconnect appropriate psycho-emotional values combined together with mathematics rational considerations upon achieving mastery goal objectives on homework assignments and exams/quizzes problems depending on psychographics.
Took the class Spring '22 online. Met every Tu. & Thu. @ 12:30-2:50. Assignments have many problems and sometimes be things we had not learned. But, each class had an hour for questions. No midterm. Has a study guide of material that COULD be on the test, but is VERY helpful overall. Final was easier than expected. He is funny, nice, and caring.
Ienjoyedhis STATclass. I was new to Excel and its uses but the TAwas nice and helpedme out ofclass. However, it wasdifficultcompleting all the requirements: weekly homework and quiz, a lab per chapter, and 5 exams. There was just a lot to do. Sometimes that lab and homework were not even related or worded similarly. Just be patient and consistent.
Baca's class is easy to pass. He'll send an outline of what each question will be about on the exam. He explains concepts slowly and only rushes when near end of lecture. Understanding and doesn't scrutinize students for asking questions. HW sometimes felt unaligned with the lecture but he provides videos on how to do them.
Took as an online class. He is unorganized, the HW is long, and not a great lecturer. Lecture examples did not always go with homework. Slow to explain the topics leading us to get behind. Everything at the end felt rushed. 4 exams and a final. Takes the exam extremely seriously. Exams were proctored over zoom and the final was in-person. No notes
The most difficult part of completing all the requirements:weekly homework and quizzes, laboratory questions per chapter, and 5 examinations. Quite often times, lab and homework assignments were NOTeven closely related or worded according to instructional lectures. My honest counseling advice would strongly be to avoid Prof.Baca's mathematics courses!
We understand above course presented represents advanced Introduction to Probability and Statistics, although I honestly think there could have been better learning experiences upon re-locating and structurally seating classmates whom could tutor each other during lecture instructional periods. NOT present this difficult self-preparation processes!
I was SCARED to take STATS because Math is not my strong point but Professor Baca's class was easier than I expected. He gives you 100 chances to retry on the homework and you usually grasp the concept on the 5th try, and you get 2 more chances for exams!! Honestly one of the best professor's I've ever had! Take him if you can!
We understand that online synchronous and asynchronous methods have changed in-person instructional teaching methods, although unfortunately back then we did not have few more attempts on heavily weighted exams and partial lighter weighted homework assignments. Even struggling on concepts and missing problems on assignments was met with punishment.
Trigonometry andAdvancedAlgebra course college level of mathematics was really difficult material to master concepts, get prepared for pre-Calculus then beyond coursework material. After struggling day and night,I decided to do pass and no pass with admissions and records, then unfortunately failed exams and couldNOT understand final examination.
I remember couple of years awhile back, seriously, instructional lectures and practical homework assignment examples were NOT exactly administered on Canvas Instructure. We had to follow alongside McGraw Hill Connect homework chapters, timed quizzes, and most crucially challenging exams. There was NOT extra chances available to repair poor grades.
I was terrified of math class, but need it for my degree. I took Professor Baca's Honors Stats class. He is so awesome. He is hilarious, helpful and really wants his students to succeed. He will help you and make sure that you understand the material. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
The Spring 2020 school semester felt like more of go teach yourself style paced statistics and probability course. The learning environment was somewhat partially toxic and did NOT specifically address struggling students vulnerable weaknesses alongside strictly enforcing Microsoft Excel document program calculation procedures. Problems persisted.
Professor Baca is awesome! He uses excel to teach stats, therefore, you do not need a scientific calculator. I find it easier to learn stats this way opposed as to entering different functions on the calc. Be sure to watch his videos if you do not attend the live class. He always assists with questions after class or you can meet with the TA.
I am happy I took Professor Baca's stats class. I dropped another stats class before him, and that class had a lot of work for the first week! If I needed help, I always received it. I recommend him for stats 100%. He uses excel, so you don't need a calculator.
Back during early Spring January throughMarch2020 semester, our classroom mostly discussed data analysis and statistics about local pizza shops; political candidates and designated party affiliations; county neighborhood crime measurements; and wealthy successful business entrepreneurs and workshop owners leading on better lifestyles than students.
7/10 experience. Professor Baca was super helpful outside of class when struggling and asking for help. The class itself is not super fun but it's manageable. Must put in work to get a good grade. Fa2022 semester
This is great professor. He is the best. Really caring and really want you to pass. If you want to enjoy math then take him. not only in stats in other math courses too. Great professor.
Professor Baca literally pretended to act accordingly with LRCCD district standards by tricking students into learning conceptual materials getting wrong answers and luring college administrators with positive mathematics propaganda displaying higher end exam results. Struggling learners had ton of questions and comments, eventually failed to pass.
This class is how you expect a STATs class to be. You really need to pay attention to his lectures in order to pass this course. It is practically a requirement to be good at Google Sheets/Excel to understand what is going on. He is good with answering questions, especially during lecture. Do not skip any of his lectures, as you will not pass.
ProbabilityandStatistics concepts is officially deemed really difficult course because of satisfying those school curriculum requirements involves any combination of mathematics and real world application critical thinking mindset. Then we analyze data set that could be utilized to understand any given association in the data. Why bully classmates?
Statistics&Probability is the field branch set ofMATHEMATICS that studies how likely events are to happen without human beings physically witnessing situations. Therefore, having another formal basic understanding of probability, you construct valid informed decisions in the real world application workplace environment settings. NOTES WERE DIFFICULT!
Statistics&Probability is deemed difficult because majority of times, instructors teach homework assignment and exam problems out of context;conceptual information most likely appear to be arriving from nowhere instead of being actually based in real-life application scenarios, which is exactly where statistics truly belongs. Unwelcoming environment!
Statistics&Probability presents quite different concepts introduced in STATS textbook chapters, including descriptive AND inferential statistics that are reallyNOTtypically utilized in other mathematics courses. Inference probability theory is difficult concept and is the key lock opener to inferential statistics. DESCRIPTION visualizes data better.
This is the only math class I've ever taken in my entire life where I didn't feel stupid, actually got it and learned something. He's very patient in class lectures, gives plenty of time to work problems out, his homework is online and has infinite retries so you can keep going until you get it and understand it. 12/10 least painful math class ever
I learned STATS the old school method back in middle school and high school curriculum. How and why does interpreting Probability and Statistics through Microsoft Excel document spreadsheets become advantageous to analyze lab results, book and journal articles, and then actually aid learners within approaching scientific problem-solving strategies?
Overall stats was difficult but gives good lectures and explanation. Uses excel sheets for calculations, but also does google sheets for student. Willing to answer questions and clarify. Funny teacher. Will be taking his other classes too.
The teacher seems like a nice guy but is very un organized and his grading scale is all over the place and he doesn't have that big of a heart when it comes to students and there educational futures.
More importantly,I appreciate learning probability and statistics subject discipline, although strongly disapprove unnecessary heated argument debates about course syllabus grading structures and heavily weighted exams FAILURE. I then transferred to SCC for successfully reattempting course with powerful graphing calculators and other STATS programs.
Probability&Statistics subject should become more enjoyable and profitable investment for students, therefore I honestly recommend LRCCD district and mathematics department to restructure this course teaching methods avoiding further student dropout failure rates. Prof. Baca has better capabilities of instructing STATS100 level coursework materials.
Professor Baca has implemented the mathematical mindset of promoting healthy functioning brain concerning memory storage for exams/quizzes that operates at maximum capacity levels. Unfortunately, NOT all students stem from highly successful family backgrounds and financially stable incomes. Refer Sacramento homelessness and crime statistics rates.
The best simplified method of approach to successfully pass this course would be staying extremely busy like elite data scientists, with the help of tutors and mathematicians. Students must master the core concepts, probability,Bayesian thinking, even statistical machine system learning outcomes. If you struggle with computers, then end failing exams.
If you are normally struggling withExcel formatting applications & function keystrokes, while experiencing difficulties with any given computer programsANDstaying on track with numerous calculations, then I highly doNOTrecommendProf. Baca challenging mastery level exam based courses. Because you are expected to know everything on quizzes/exams.
Statistics and Probability is considered mandatory pre-requisite requirement by counselors and four-year universities, although due to the different concepts introduced inside statistics, including descriptive and inferential statistics that are NOT typically applied within other rigorous math courses, makes solving problems more challenging process.
Regarding Probability and Statistics, Prof. Baca specifically advised another classmate struggling on the chapter coursework materials, where you're supposed to self-teach mastery exercises and have prior educational experiences with Microsoft Excel program, regardless of failing assigned practice problems. My counselor said STATS100 NOT applicable.
ProfessorBaca just reviews theSTATS core basic principle idea and question hint meanings without explaining fundamental mechanics, simply as if he is just talking with himself and dismissed the fact thatCRCtutoring center has limited technology resource capabilities. Then students are expected to self prepare for really difficult exams and projects.
I barely learned or understood any important concepts for the exams, Professor Baca heavily weighted quizzes/exams and projects for final grades. I also noticed this intentional pattern of discrimination against disability support program students seeking help on important practice problem solving strategies. That is poor unacceptable environment.
Comprehending incompatible online software components for exams and other applications for probability&statistics was deemed very challenging process, especially whenever students were concerned about their overall grades and attempting to learn important concepts. Prof. Baca should actually teach STATS100 level course with hyper-intensive lectures.
I took his class on summer for fun. He is one of the best teachers at CRC. He teaches very good. He really cares about his students and gives more time if they need. He helps all of his students with assignments if they need help as well as extending the due dates of the homeworks/quizzes if you ask. I would take his class again.
Professor Baca brings an unusual requirement to stats by using excel programs to do the work for you. Understanding these concepts aren't hard because in class he guides you and teaches you to use these programs. If you disagree with his use of technology, you simply can use the formulas he gives you on the test and the outcome is still the same.
Professor Baca is an amazing teacher. He made my stats very enjoyable and easy to understand as a student who has had prior difficult experiences with statistics. He is very flexible and understanding with grading and due dates. He has a passion for teaching students and creating a connection with them. Would definitely recommend taking him.
The professor did a good job with answering my questions when I didn't understand. I really enjoyed that a lot of the activities were based on the book. I was also nervous to use Excel for the first time but he made the process doable. It's a hard class but a worth it one.
I never leave ratings on professors but my experience with this guy was so awful. I don't know how many times the homework assigned is completely different than the labs he teaches from, prompting me to go online to look up methods other than what he demonstrated in class to solve the problems. Seems to have no passion about what he teaches either.
Overall, a really nice guy and an easy class. His lectures are a bit different compared to the homework, however you can always stay during lab and get help with any homework. He is very lenient with due dates, and almost always pushes them back if you just email him. You get a cheatsheet for the tests, so overall pretty easy.
He is one of the best professor that I ever had. He is such a kind, caring, and respectful professor. I will definitely take his class again. He gives amazing lectures. He helps you whenever you need. He gets his students ready for the exams. He does everything he can to support his students. Loved his class and his is the best.
Professor Baca runs a challenging course, but if you put in the work, it can be very rewarding. The lectures don't always match the homework, so make sure to use Unstuck AI and the free textbook to supplement. Attend office hours for extra help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. His lectures aren't even about the lesson, half of the time he talks about homework and even if it is a lesson the stuff we go over isn't even on the test. Also he puts a lot of homework questions so be prepared for a lot of homework as well as a boring math class. If you want a boring and awful teacher go to this class.
Awesome teacher. Very clear and detailed. Do the work and you'll do great. He's always willing to help. Great teacher
Amazing professor. Very clear and precise
The professor was great! The exams were fair, and a lot of the questions came straight from the online homework. We also did lab material together in class, which helped a lot. Stats was a tough subject for me, but if you put in some effort, you can get a good grade. He was really helpful and would even reopen homework if you needed it.
I took professor Baca for a remedial math class and he was a wonderful teacher. He is kind, patient and a good teacher. He is easy to talk to and you will pass his class if you put in the work. If your confused ask questions, go to office hours, the math lab and meet up with other students. You can do it!!!
His workload was way too much. He gives you time to work on lab packets in class but on top of that homework, there was quizzes and other assignments online as well. He moved extremely fast and didn't allow any notes, practice tests or study guides for the exams. The labs/ homework were also not even the same as the questions on the exams.
Mr. Baca is patient with his teaching, funny, and easy to talk to. He'll go over any questions students might have in class. Lectures are kinda short, and there's lots of time to do hw in class. There is a lot of hw and one quiz for each section. Quizzes are pretty short. He'll give outlines for exams so you know what to study.
Professor Baca was one of the best math teachers I've ever had!!! Just show up to class, pay attention, do the homework, and you'll be good. He is also funny, he makes lectures so much fun, he jokes around, he is very respectful and also patient. I wish I could take him for my other math classes. I rate him 10/10!!.
He is a great math professor, and his humor makes the lesson interesting. He interacts with students and is very accessible outside of class time. He is willing to help when students ask questions, and is very patient too. I had a great semester taking this course, quite easy, and it just breezed through. I recommend taking his class.
I highly recommend Prof. Baca. I took his Stat 300 class with no difficulty passing his class. He is very funny, patient, and willing to adjust deadlines for homework/quizzes if necessary. He will explain and re-explain as many times as needed. Attendance is recommended, but if you do miss classes, he has old zoom videos for you to reference.
Professor Baca is a funny and approachable instructor who explains concepts clearly. He is helpful during questions and office hours. There are four exams and calculus itself is challenging. Exam averages were low 50-60/100, but extra credit was offered at the end. Expect many assignments near the end of the semester that could be overwhelming.
A professor who actually cares about their students. My goat.
