This was the most boring class I have ever taken.. I could not stay awake. If you actually take the notes and apply them to the study guide before your test you will be fine.
The class was great, and interesting. If you are majoring or minoring in Geography take this class. The tests aren't hard if you pay attention in class and fill out the study guide. This guy knows his stuff!

This class is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to stay awake in! I don't think even 10 cups of coffee can help me to ever stay coherent in that class.
Best class I took at Central. I got the most out of it and did well too. Material studied in this class can actually be applied to the real world.
He was really boring, and so was the textbook! I made it through the class by going to all the lectures and taking a lot of notes. Pay attention to his lectures, heck....tape em'.
Very funny, very cute. Knows his stuff. Wants you to learn. Term Project is not too bad. Tests can be difficult, still not a bad class, not a great one.

This is a VERY VERY boring class. He has some sort of accent that sometimes I couldn't understand. I didn't think his test were that easy because when taking notes I didn't know what to write down, he liked to talk way to much.
Test suck and very hard. it is hard to take notes. he just rambles on and on.
He is confusing and hard to listen to in the lecture. His accent makes him hard to understand, you don't know if he is making a statement or asking a question.
Brea is a great guy and professor.You will do well as long as you study the study guides provided. He makes a dry course interesting.

I was entertained by this teachers attitude and voice, but after a while, it was very boring. The tests are incredibly hard, and he believes a C average for the class is great ?? I wouldn't take him again.
He was a great prof. He gave plenty of information for tests and made jokes that were actually funny! Take a lot of notes and you will do fine, plus he gives extra credit and bumps up grades according to class average.
Best professor I ever had. VERY helpful and clear about everything he wanted. Tons of extra credit, so it's impossible to fail. Take it in the summer. Get to know him; he's a great guy.
BORNG BORING BORING....He is a very unintersting professor that repeats himslef a lot and to think that the stuff is so interesting t everyone..i would not recommend taking him unless you want to take a nap every class :(
It's a boring class,isn't all geography? He's from Uruguay & definitely has the accent, but he really tries to interest you & be funny. He does lecture the whole time, but when its time for the test you get a studyguide and he spends 2 days reviewing. Not as hard as I thought,& little xtracredit.
Brea is an awesome professor, if you are serious (or even not) about learning, just stop by his office or talk to him after class. He is always more than willing to talk to students and help them out. He has a very dry sense of humor so some people have a tough time with him. Respects students.

This class is very easy if you pat attention, show up and take notes. Brea is really nice and a good person in general. The only thing that I hated is that he says ummkaa like 5000 times a night

It's a UP, and beats taking a language if you are bad at that. The study guides are key to passing, but they can be misleading. Class focuses way too much on climate regions and vegetation, with the material being very boring over all. Huge majority of grade based on tests and not enough on papers
He is an amzing teacher and a great person, he will almost give you the shirt off of his back if it will help you. Again, great guy, hard to understand at times, but he is the type of prof I wish I could have all the time.
Brea is a really nice guy and teaches the class well. His tests are easy. Stay for the review time, he gives you the answers to the tests. Do this and the movie right up's and you will get an A. The only bad thing is he says ummmkaaa alot.
The tests are all essay, but surprisingly not hard. This guy has a fun sense of humor. The class is a little boring sometimes, and taking notes is sometimes hard to do. But I recommend him for sure!
Excellent professor. Respects and cares for his students. He is challenging in all the right ways, and if you pay attention, attend class, and do assignments you will not only walk away with an "A", but you learn something as well. Conducts a great field study to the Dominican Republic each year.
Prof. Brea is one of the kindest teachers I have had here at Central. If you simply come to class, take notes, and do the work you will easily pass with an A. He does not try to make things hard for the student. The class itself is very interesting. However, lecture can sometimes be a bit boring. That may also be because I took it in 3 weeks summer
He is a GREAT man, the nicest... However, Your grade is based primarily of tests. I always recieved above average but if you get a C on your tests, you will probably get a C in the class. Papers are not really worth much so I recommened studyin' real hard from the study guide. Unfortunatly class goes by real slow.
Like Brea a lot, easy to understand. Test was easy, a lot of little things though. Easiest if you go to every class even if it is somewhat boring. Project is a little time consuming but not bad to do. I am a business student and this is a good elective to take.
Class is based primarily on tests. Tests are very difficult and are worth 80% of your grades. So you don't pass one test and you are done for. I wouldn't recommend this class at all.
Really nice guy, however his accent will sometimes make him hard to understand. His tests are very hard and he requires a couple research projects. He keeps you to the very end of class every class period.
Brea is a nice guy, really nice. But he needs some help in the teaching area. He LOVES the subject, but his lectures are tedious and boring. The exams are a snap. For the final he pretty much told us exactly what he was going to ask. If you need a 300 level GEO class, I would say take this one, its pretty easy. Just kinda boring.

Dr. Brea is an amazing professor, he has an accent being from Uruguay (South America) but if you LISTEN to what he says you will have no trouble catching on. His lectures are fascinating because he's talented in teaching. I recommend him over anyone else in the department, maybe with the exception of Dr. Yamamoto.
LOVED him as a prof! He has an accent but does an EXCELLENT job at making himself very clear. He does really well in explaining the material and he LOVES the subject of geo. There are three exams and a project which is broken into parts. Study for the tests and you will do fine. He is ALWAYS willing to help and he is VERY accomedating. TAKE HIM!
Professor Brea has a genuine interest and passion for the subject matter. His accent is pleasant and easily understood. He is quick to reply to email and takes questions any time in or out of class. The material can be difficult for some, but the lectures are thorough and study guides are provided for all exams. Go to class, take notes.

Jorge Brea is the best. He can be hard to understand, but he is so goofy, and really funny if you listen during class. If I had to pick a prof. to invite to a dinner party- it would be Jorge.
A great, great professor who is pretty witty and has a true passion for what he teaches. Text book is useless.. just take good notes and study based specifically on the study guide. He is always willing to answer questions, even directly off the study guide... don't hesitate, he is a friendly and interesting guy to talk to.
TONS of material per exam so that is really hard. He's pretty cool as a guy, but his exams are really hard.

I recommend them just because he only has like 200 points available and they are all tests which are really hard to get good grades on. I am STEALING a B from this class.
Class is extremely boring, notes are pretty much right from the book, gives study guides for tests, very knowledgeable about topic, but just so boring. Sometimes not always clear on what he wants in movie reviews, but overall not a bad guy. He is willing to work with you.
if you have a game-boy, bring it to class. Sit in the back so he doesnt surprise you with a random question while he lectures. Tests are based right off the study guide. So do them. I didnt touch the 1st one and winged the 1st test. I got a 33%. 2nd test, I did the study guide, got 84%. You get out, what you put in, with this class.
Oh and believe me the tests are hard. I put in hours into studying and I still only got D+s. And I usually am a great test taker. I wish I would have taken Spanish instead as my UP, because going to his class was like listening to a foreign language.
This is the most boring class I have ever taken. He's hard to understand and tends to say mmmmkay a lot. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. The tests cover a lot of material and your grade depends on how you do on the tests. Overall, I found the class boring and somewhat difficult.
STUDY and TAKE NOTES. The projects are really easy but you have to pay attention in lecture to do well on the tests. He will keep you to the last millisecond of class. Really nice guy.
Gives you four homework assignments throughout the semester so EASY and make up a good portion of the grade. Tests follow notes exactly as well as the study guide. If you took down all his notes the tests were a joke. People saying they were hard probabyl never showed up for class because it was extremely boring. Grit through it and youll be ok.
Professor Brea has a very high amount of knowdledge. He has been teaching this class for a long time. However, he isn't very engaging during class. His lectures can be boring, but not a lot of homework. Read the book. Do the study guides and you should do fine.
Absolutely boring class. Only 30% of the class showed up and those that were there were txting or on facebook. Overall easy class though only four homework assigments and the tests followed the study guides almost perfectly, only like two questions from each exam werent on them. Endure the boring lectures and take good notes and youll get an A!

They probably kiss his a** to get a good grade because it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get a good grade on his MIND GAME EXAMS His doesn't give reviews before an exam so you almost have to guess what's he going to ask and how he's going to ask it Usually the way he asks stuff makes no sense

If you want to be angry every time you get out of class than take him. If not avoid him. He will put you to sleep and then call on you in class to try to put you on the spot and make you look dumb in front of the whole class. Take David Meyer instead of him. He's a much better professor than Brea is. He understands his students.

Not bad if you want to do tons of stupid busy work that really doesn't teach you anything because you just want to get done with it. He doesn't give reviews before exams. He puts stuff on reserve in the library which is so old. Most prof. will scan it to Bb but he is difficult and likes to be a pain in the a**.
Absolute worst professor ever. Take another elective. Don't take this man for any geography classes take someone else. He is nice at first but, then his true colors show as the semester goes on. He can be a jerk and he doesn't want to see his students succeed. He makes things hard for no reason wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.
Pretty easy class. Gave out a study guide for each test and pretty much gave the answers for each question on it. Seems like a nice guy, pretty helpful if you need it. You really don't need the book, I just studied off of the guides and did fine. Class is very boring however. I don't think he is as bad as the other reviewers say.
He's funny and tries to make class engaging. The exams are strait from the notes and the class average on exams is sill "D"'s. There are no powerpoints. All notes are from in class and the book. This class is only good to fill the foreign language UP (IVB)

Jorge was one of the best professors I have had so far. He is from Latin America so you can expect an accent (sounds more German than Hispanic) but he is very easy to understand. Class isn't mandatory but the notes he gives are exactly whats going to be on the test. I loved the class and the teacher, defiantly recommended.
Very dry class. He knows his stuff. Not very much work to do. Do not need to read took. Exams are hard. Must be sure to study for awhile. Other than that this class is easy.

He puts the notes on the board so as long as you go to class and know the notes front to back you will do good in the class. Tests are multiple choice and straight from the notes. A few short papers are given for HW and gives some extra credit.
There's only three exams and three easy assignments. He gives a study guide with a bunch of questions and will go over the questions in class so you have the right answers. For exams you need to study to pass. Don't buy the book.
To get a somewhat decent grade in this class, you need to study for 10 million hours and its very hard. DO NOT TAKE

Brea, is pretty cool and his class is easy. His lectures are dry and class is boring less you are really interested in the topic. His assignments are really easy and he gives extra credit at the end of the semester. Also, he gives you study guides for the exams and they are mostly all on the test. If you need a easy 300 level take it.
This is by far the most boring class I ever took but I did end up learning a lot. Lecture is tough to sit through because he is so dry and boring but take the study guide and assignments seriously or you will not pass the class. The study guide is everything, especially because the low amount of total points makes them weigh heavily.
I took this class due to people on this site saying it was an easy A. That could not be more false. In this class, there is a total of 257 points possible (3 exams, 3 assignments, 2 quizzes). To get an A you need 240/25793%. That means you can only get 17 points deducted the ENTIRE semester. So get 100% on every HW&Quiz, and an A on each exam.

Breas class is easy, even without buying the book. Lectures are a little stale, yeah i admit that. But he gives a near word for word exam review weeks in advance. Hes always willing to answer any and all questions to the point. Just copy and paste the exam review into a doc and answer as you go through the units. Easy A or B at the lowest.
Great teacher, very boring but if you take notes and make a quiz-let out of them you'll do fine. 2 assignments that are easy A's and 2 map quizzes that are easy if you study for a few hours before. As long as you take notes you'll do fine, I didn't take notes and failed the first two exams. Very passionate about Latin America
Get ready to STUDY HARD. I studied for each test for 4+ hours and still only managed to pull off a C in the class. There were 3 exams worth 75% of the entire grade for the semester, so if you messed up on one you were basically sunk for the rest of the semester, unless you could ace the other two. the exams are super hard, class mean was 66%
Honestly, don't take him. He is a great guy but his lectures are painfully boring.
lectures are really boring and hard to keep up with. He doesn't use the whiteboard or any sort of projector so you have to write down everything he says. There are only 3 exams and 2 assignments so if you fail one test, you're screwed. You can skip as much as you want, but you should go to class because his study guides don't help with exams AT ALL
This class was the hardest thing I have ever done. 3 exams and two papers were all we were graded on. His exams are extremely hard. If you do not attend class you will not pass. Not everything on the exam is in the textbook. Honestly, most of the stuff on the exam isn't. He doesn't teach well at all. Reads off of a paper he prints out and brings.
Assignments due every week, but the exams are super easy. he gives self tests before that give you 90% of the answers for the exams that aren't lockdown browser or timed, and you get two attempts on each exam.
This professor is not clear in what she is looking for in assignments. Professor waited until the last two weeks of class to tell me that she proofreads assignments. The only good thing is the discussion boards and test are easy. However, I do not recommend taking this class. One of the worst professors I ever experienced at CMU.
His feedback is never helpful for future assignments. He will dock you a point and not really explain what you missed or why the point was taken. It is an online course, so you do read every week, but it is not a lot to me. The exams are easy and he does provide slideshows for chapters and exam practice tests, which are helpful. Didn't learn much.
The exams are straightforward with the professor's self-tests and multiple attempts. Though assignments are frequent, Unstuck study proved useful for efficient study prep.
Her or him prop a Her was the worst grader ever, and never ever helped me on why she was grading the way she was grading, she is seriously out of all my 4 years here the worst professor ever.
