Gives extra credit, midterm and final, plus 10 quizzes in total, he drops the 3 of them. Don't buy the book, he gives you everything you need. His lectures are awesome. take him, you wont regret it.

Probably one of mdc's greatest professors, Dr. Obeso knows his material and knows it well. He relates how the subject we're learning in the lab applies to real life which enhances the classroom experience. He grades mainly on small, easy quizzes. The only negative is that he keeps you in the lab for the entire period allocated.

I am not a science major but Dr. Obeso made biology very easy to understand by relating it to real life examples. His lectures are interesting because he has a way of simplifying all his lessons. His tests are a little tough because he uses profound vocabulary which after his very simple lessons, it confuses me. But he is a fair grader.

His teaching style is very detailed. Who needs lecture: he will explain the material in detail before the lab (hence if class is from 5:40-9) and the lab is short you won't ever leave early because his lecture will consume majority of the time. Class is long but he makes it interesting by playing background music, making jokes and including videos

Its best not to miss any classes so you won't fall behind on quizzes and material taught. But you can always come to another lab session to make up for the day you missed. Textbook: his notes and powerpoints are thorough. You won't use the book in his 2010L but you might need it for 2011L.

I took this class online. Professor Obeso has all the quizzes, discussions, and exams open for you to do it at your own pace. The material is tough but if you use the study guides you will do well. Only the midterm is proctored, the final is not.

He has a passion for the lecture-style classroom. So expect the lab sessions to include the lab and A LOT of lecture material, not always directly pertaining to the lab. But he has a way of bringing cultural awareness and laughter into each class. You won't ever leave a minute early, even if class is late at night. But you will learn.

Class in general is a lot to take in, especially if you only taking the course for requirements. A lot of information to understand so do flashcards. Quizzes are simple but exams are tough. Professor is great and has the course set up right. Answer emails right away.

He's a really nice professor, inspirational, has knowledge, but, on the other hand, it's true that test are not that easy since most of the questions are tricks. Even when you study, the way he ask is confusing. He said" I like to play with your mind". So, you need to study hard and be prepare on not be tricked when he test you.

I think this is the only lab I have taken in which the lab professor takes up every minute of the 4 hours he's given, so if you plan on leaving early, he is not the guy for you! However, he is super helpful and his lectures are amazing. The class is based on weekly quizzes, a midterm(200 points) and a final (200 points). Get ready to study.

Although I hate biology, I absolutely love this professor. He bends over backwards for his students all the time & he helps as much as he can for us to understand the subject. I had Dr. Obeso lab's for two semesters (BSC2010L & BSC2011L) and lecture (BSC2011). Honestly, he's one of the few professor's that showed that he cared about his students. He always pushed for us to go after programs, scholarships and if we need any advice or recommendation letter. As much respect as we showed him is what we got in return.

The class is easy and enjoyable, although it's online you learn a lot about the labs because he makes it interactive and does simulations of the events during class. It was and easy class, there were not final test but keep in mind that the midterm is proctored and it is 80 questions ( all of them was on the previous quizzes and assignments) If you do all the assignments and quizzes you will pass this class with an A. To the online class I bought the book but we never used it.

Lab lectures/dissections are long and he rarely cuts class short but he makes them so interesting that you won't even remember to be bored. His class literally did as he said since the beginning, just a proctored midterm, NO Final, all quizzes were the major assignments due, which were all accessible 24/7 at your own pace, but make sure to do some work weekly. I absolutely love this professor! Dr Obeso was such an inspiration to me and pushed me to excel. His lab was easy to follow, and he made an effort to catch you up if your lecture was behind on material. I am definitely taking his 2011L.

obeso is an amazing teacher. i'm incredibly lazy and jaded but his lab is something i looked forward to coming to every week :) you can tell he is educated and knowledgeable on his subject, while still remaining humble and keeping himself updated on new things in his field. he's awesome, very flexible, and genuinely cares about his students 10/10

I needed to complete a credit for natural science. Bio was not my first pick, but I'm SO glad it ended up being this class an professor. Please do not look anywhere else. Straightforward, relaxed, no final, what else can you ask for really

TAKE HIM!!!! You will NOT regret it trust me. I took General education Biology online and so glad I chose him! Only 1 proctored exam which is the midterm other than that all non proctored.

I can't express with words how amazing Professor Obeso is. He's the most caring professor I have ever meet. You will love his class if you love science, and even if you don't love it, you will learn so many amazing things that you will end up loving it. Recommended 100%.Hes the best,I took him for Bio 1 and Bio2. I will never regret the experience.

This class is not difficult if you manage your time. Professor Obeso is fair, and communicative, and sets expectations for course materials. I'd absolutely take another of his courses.

Professor Obesa is an amazing professor, he is not only knowledgeable in his field but is also caring and super kind. I recommend taking his labs for both BSC2010 and 2011.His mini-quizzes and exams are not hard and are based on the PowerPoint presentation and videos he provides. Now don't be lazy you have to read.

Professor Obeso, was a great professor I would recommend him to everyone. He didn't only teach biology he even taught us about life in general. I would take that class a million more times just because of the way he teaches and inspires others. Thank you for being such a great teacher !

Highly recommend course for BSC credit needed with proff Obeso, took 6wk course and it was great. On canvas, the set up will be different since he really doesn't edit out his previous class modules, but all we have to do is the quizzes discussion post and some test. He will clearly provide what is expected and what is needed from us. It's not hard.

I love love love taking Professor Obeso's class. Amazing professor; he makes bio lab not even feel like you're stuck in a class while also allowing you to learn. He's an incredibly understanding & caring professor, also very knowledgeable on what he teaches & passionate. I would 100% recommend him to anyone who needs a bio lab.

Proff Obeso explains the material very well. I you read the power points and quizzes you will pass. He makes the labs fun 10/10!

Recommend you take his class, he's a great professor who will help with anything. There's quizzes and a midterm so not a lot of work which is good if you have more classes to focus on.

He's a great professor! I would 100% take him again. He makes it possible for you to do your best. He curves your grade and gives extra credit if needed. He's super helpful and very organized. My class had no final and only a midterm. A few discussions and quizzes.

This professor was awesome very open to students and considerate. Stay doing your homework and Unit exams you will pass this class.Consistency is what he looks for. Easy class if you just stay on top of yourself. There is no Final just a Midterm.
