i was surprised when i read the other commends, i dont think he is a bad teacher, when you ask he explains well. i dont like math but i pass his class easyly. and it was interesting, i recomend his class.

I was shocked when I read the comments. I feel that Perez is a very good teacher and although he went on tangents sometimes, it helped in that I didn't fall asleep considering I took the class at 8am and it lasted 2 hours. I do suggest going to the tutor. The tutor who sat in on my class was excellent and along with him and Perez, I made an A.

He is a great professor!!!!! he usually talks about his family for few minutes to amuse us and encourage us. Folks, take his class. He knows his material so well that if you listen really carefully in class, you don't need to study too much after class. That's how I get an A.

He is a nice person. He helps a lot students. You may improve your grade easily. I liked him. I wish all the teachers were like him.

Great Teacher! I don't really care what people say about him he is one of the best! He really knows his material and loves what he does. He cares about students, wants them to better themselves. I know i didn't do well in his class but I know i could've done a lot better! He is GREAT and recommend him as a teacher if you want to learn math!

He is so far the best math teacher i've had. He is very friendly, and sure he talks a lot about his family yet, that has nothing to do with the way he teaches.He is always there to help you. He knows everything there is to know about math.I can say he is a great teacher i really recommend him. So far im trying to take another math class with him.

He is the best Math teacher I've had in Laguardia. I took him for math 096 and I'm taking him for statistics, I'm having a little trouble but he really takes the time to explain everything to you when you ask him about it. He really reaches out and takes the time to explain things.not like many math teachers who just don't care!

I didn't think he was that mean but here are some tips: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. DO NOT BE LATE; if you are be HUMBLE. Use your CD (that comes w/the book). Be VERY SPECIFIC re: clarifications &concerns; show interest. He based our grades on one's top 3 exams +the final (sweet deal). Btw, there's wisdom to his family talk; take the humor w/a grain of salt.

OH YEA... AND HIS ONLINE SOFTWARE MATERIAL ARE REALLLY HELPFUL.. IT HELPED ME ALOT

I took this teacher for statistics back in 2005. He is from Chile and a very nice guy. Statistics is an easy class. Believe me i dont like math and I got and A. Do all the work and test are very easy.

Best math professor I every had. Taught me everything from the basice to sqrts. Only people that hated the class were the lazy students who didn't bother to study or try. And he even had patients with them. Do the homework and study. just like he said. Will answer all your questions and really takes his time until you grasps the concept.

He is okay but talks to much. he does tells stories and then I lose track of what he is talking about. He is a good teacher and reallt tries to talk to us about how important it is to study. But the reality is all have lives and families,and other classes sometimes I thinkhe forgets that. We have midterms next week lets see if I pass

I enjoyed this class.. I'm not really sure why so many bad comments. He does want you to work and he does tell stories but what teacher doesn't.At the end of the day if you don't like the class the online assignments help you alot. If you felt offended honestly you shouldn't be so thin skinned.

I took MAT 201 spring 2009 session 1. One of the best teachers. I dont know why people don't like him. He talk about his life experience but that is sometimes helpful. If you dont know math or dont wanna study math dont take Math class. you have to study to do good in math. Don't blame proffessor and dont expect u will pass math without hard work.

I was in his class for Statistic 1. He taught us so well. He always make sure his students pay attention to him. Though, he gives lots of homework. But it was worthed for me. :) I like his class.

Great professor who makes statistics interesting by small talk relating to the subject in between. He wants to see students studying/working hard, coming to class on time and paying attention. Do these things and you will do well.

Textbook is a must. Studying alot on your own is a must. But hes a good teacher who wants his students to learn.

he is in fact a good professor.. very dedicated to see his students succeed.. informal conversations help u not to get tired and have fun.. how ever your passing only depends on you effort because he is an EXCELLENT teacher.

Calculus is hard. Time needs to be put in to your studies to understand it. I dont get why everyone here says Perez is not good. He is very good and cares for students. Study hard and prove to your self you can pass. He cant just give you a good grade for showing up to class. It demands dedication and many hours of studying.

I had no problems with this professor. I particiapted in class, did all my homeworks, quizzes, etc. He teaching was fine, no complaints. He does get sidetracked sometimes talking about other things but it's nothing.

It's funny how he's rated low because I found him to be a good professor. The problem was more on the students who don't try to understand practice and pay attention. The key with him is discipline, if you have discipline you won't have problems with him. Also do the exercises! Like he says practice is the key, which applies to math in general -_-

I took Mr. Jorge for 096. Mr. Jorge's explained math clearer than in all my years of schooling put together. He is a great under rated teacher. He cares about his students and his work. He is a math boot camp, tough but it's worth getting taught by him. He is brilliant.

The material is hard, and he is not a walk in the park. However, he's a very nice man who demands the best from his students and is adamant about studying. He does care about those he knows are trying. He is funny, and he tries really hard to explain the concepts in an understandable manner. I like him, and if you study you will succeed.

Dr.Perez is a very nice guy. He does rush through work and he expects all of the students to keep up or get left behind. I never did the homework so I failed the first test. Doing work at home is mandatory or you will FAIL if you're looking for an easy A this is not the class. He makes the math problems more difficult than they are I got a B

Professor Perez is a wonderful teacher, but KNOW that this is an EXTREMELY difficult class for those that need it - 2 yrs of algebra in 3 months. COME PREPARED-take the pre-class LaGuardia offers. Buy the book, study it early and DO. NOT. FALL. BEHIND. Come to class on time, NO CELLS, pay attention and Prof. Perez will open up a new world to you.

This professor is a good man. Spanish accent but doesnt matter. Hes nice and very helpfull. I met him the first time during the premath class in july. I passed exam even though I always hated math!!He makes you interested...Follow the class, spend some time doing homework and you will pass without any problem. RECOMMENDED

This professor was the greatest math professor i took ever! I had no clue of math, prior to his class and left knowing everything. He has a spanish accent, and likes to get off topic at times, but he is very helpful, honest, and actually cares. If your hispanic and understand spanish, take his class, he will make your life easier!!

Really good prof. but the class its self is really hard. but if you put in more than 100% you will pass with good grades. this requires you to put more that 100% and not just 100%. he likes to use the text book and he does explain the material good. he doesn't just go on and on with the class but he also likes to do references with todays society.

He is a great teacher and person. he is concern their students really learn. I loved his classes, he use to give very helpfull examples and math was really easy for me this time.

Jorge Perez is an excellent professor, Math is his passion and is happy to help you but only if you respect his class, be on time always, study hard. I learned a lot from him and his class. There is no excuse to not pass the class with a good grade. all those bad reviews reflect mediocre students who have no idea what college is about.

I enjoyed math for the first time in my life. I'm a foreign (Turkish) student and his accent wasn't bad at all. He loves art and talking about family. He inspired me a lot. Such a great prof. I appreciate his work. He is a Columbia Uni alumni.

He's an amazing professor and cares about his students. But there's times he does get off topic and talks about his past or family to "give examples about math". To pass you need to focus from the beginning or you will fail. And he doesn't know how to work the math website well so students will complain and no extra time on test.

Prof. Perez is genuinely concerned about you and whether you pass, as long as you are too. Be there at least 10 min. before class starts. Coming in late is unacceptable as he will tell you and the rest of the class repeatedly. If you have the intent of actually doing work then you will be just fine. Do lots of practice in the Aleks program.

Very helpful and will guide you through any problem you need assistance with. He cares that you pass and will spend extra time on any equation if asked to. Funny professor and inspirational as well.

Show up, do the online work, and participate. If you have a question ask he will go over it. Get tutoring if you suck at math. If you put your all in it he will notice. Try not to miss class because each lecture does contain a lot of information.

He cares a lot about the quality of work you put into the class and will put you on the spot. I love that and enjoyed the class a ton. He's a tough grader but knows his stuff. Great person, great professor. Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful professor. If you're looking to pass the CEAFE, take him. You want to pass? do the work, show up. The best math professor I had. Only thing I can say is that sometimes when you don't understand something, he can be a little condescending, but he will take the time to explain.

He genuinely cares about his students. Just show up on time, do the homework, and be respectful and you will pass! If you're not good at math, just study and ask questions. His class was enjoyable and he is really a very nice guy.

He knows what he's talking about I always felt he made the work harder then it needed to be. overall he was a good professor and as long as you're doing your work and showing up to class he will help you out as much as possible. Listen to the advice he gives out bc it's very beneficial

Prof Perez is a great professor, even though my class wasn't a credit course, he made it super easy for me (since I hate math). he really cares about his students and will go out his way to help.

Transferring online because of COVID19 was tough. There were a lot of exceptions from this professor that just wasnt realistic. later on, the class got better. Jorge Explained steps very clearly. I actually want him as my professor for my mat115 course. Sometimes he does go off topic. Attendance and participation is very important in his class!

Professor Perez is a very kind man. His final grade is only dependent on tests, as homework is not given. He only goes over the textbook while using the examples in the textbook with new numbers. All tests are just practice questions in the textbook but with different numbers. Sometimes theyre exactly the same. Its an easy class to pass

Dr. Perez class gave me a whole new outlook on math. I had never enjoyed math before, but he explains things in his own way that makes it easier to learn. For the first time in my life I could say I had fun doing math. There were times when I was frustrated in his class, but overall I believe he is a great professor that cares about his students.
