Prof. Rodríguez is an excellent teacher. Even though, he has a thick accent, he is very clear and uses more than one example to illustrate theories. His exercises are tough, but if you read the book, and pay attention in class there is no reason why you shouldn't succeed in his class.

He is a really nice teacher. His tests are easy, but his homeworks can be difficut. Try not to overthink his homework like i have! That is what can get you. If you read the textbook and study you should be fine!

I took this class before and I got a D. I retook it with Professor Rodriguez Solis and I got an A. He is an amazing teacher! He has a thick accent but he uses real world examples that are funny. His test are timed but they are open book/note and at home. Homework can be a pain but doable. If you talk to him he even gives you extra points.

Very Fair. Tests are all online multiple choice with a fair amount of time. All concepts come straight from the book. While the tests pertain to information from class. More often the concepts and direct wording come straight from the book. The HW is harder than the tests. It requires listening actively in class.

Professor Rodriguez is a great. He knows his stuff and if you’re having trouble with the class or have any questions at all he will try and help you understand the material. While the class is not easy it’s not hard either. This is a college course and you do need to study. I’m going to take him for ECON 202. Accent is not bad

Mr. Solis is a pretty good teacher he's a nice guy and being in his class really made Economics interesting. I liked him alot. There is no homework other then reading the textbook which is a big plus. However, the exams, which make up your entire grade, are VERY VERY hard, and alot of times are not even completely on the importnt things we covered.

This class was great. Economics is not something that I am good at or interested in. I had to take this class. He will work with you to help you pass. He made the class interesting and gave good examples. The only thing is that he doesn't upload PowerPoints on to blackboard. If I had to take another Economics course I would take his class again.

He is an excellent professor . He gave us lots of opportunities to make it an A with extra credit and curving . The class is pretty intense though with lots of reading but you can perfectly get it in class without reading but you have quizzes before class.

I really enjoyed his class! It's tough, but worth the effort. I'm at UVA now and I can say that out of all the classes I've taken at NOVA, his class is the closest thing to a 4 year. Read the book, study, ask for help (He responds back to emails and has office hours). If you're trying to take econ for an easy A, he's not your guy.

I dont understand why professor Rodriguez has low ratings. He is one of the best professors I have taken at NOVA. Even tho it is lecture heavy where most of the time he is talking he allows for his students to ask question and join in his lecture. You must study for his tests. Overall I did not mind his class. I think he is a great economic professor. Although he has accent, he is very understandable. He talks very clear and will make you enjoy Economic. He gives us many real-life examples which are really fun and engaging. Great economic Professor. You do not need to buy textbook- He gives us free book online, which is really useful.

Professor Solis is a very knowledgeable professor. He will bring in many real life examples into his class that are quite interesting. You will almost want to be in class. But, a fair bit of the class is online. Be careful and make sure that you take the reading seriously for the online quizzes, and that you review well for the tests. Very good.

It's surprising that so many people left bad reviews, though at the same time it's not so surprising as there's intense bias based on the grade received. Get ready to read: There isnt actually that much reading, however what there is to read is very important. He tends to focus more on application than theory. Participation matters: Not that it matters to your grade, but to how you learn. You participate, you understand way better. Lecture heavy: Whats talked about matters a lot. Always ask Qs.

He's a great teacher judge by the way he teach. Always full of ideas and you could see the professional side of him when he help students with difficult questions.

Very understanding, although I didn't finish with the grade I wanted, he helped a lot and if it wasn't for his endless support, as I had a passing in my family and it affected me and keeping up with all the work, he worked with me and helped me as much as I could. I would definitely recommend him for anyone looking to take ECON. Great person.

Before each exam he posts practice quizzes that you can take an unlimited amount of times with all possible questions that could be on the exam. Attending lecture is essential if you want to do well on quizzes and homework and he explains the concepts from the textbook very clearly.

Professor Rodriguez is a truly old-school professor. By that I mean he's professional, extremely knowledgeable, and doesn't pull punches. His classes are lecture based so you have to pay attention, but he does a great job explaining difficult material. His tests are difficult, but he covers all the material in class so just pay attention.

Professor Rodriguez is an excellent professor! He is professional, he has a lot of knowledge about the subject. He cares about every student of the class, he wants everybody to pass and understand the class. The class is difficult, but he is willing to help and gives extra credit for you to improve your grade! IT IS ALL GOING TO BE ON TEST! attendance isn't mandatory but beneficial really Do all quizzes, all test retake no matter grade and limited extra credit will make difference at the end with a letter grade, you will learn and if you take my advice will get a A. The most thing I liked about professor Rodriguez was, his flexibility. He understands his students when they really need extra time for their due assignments. However, you might need to attend to all of his classes if you do not want to get lost before exams. Exams could be tricky with different terms and concepts that might seem the same.

His lectures were filled with excellent and relate-able examples, which made it so much easier to understand and remember the material. Reading the chapters before class helped. GO TO CLASS!!! It makes all the difference. I took the six week course-4 test (not cumulative) and a 10 question quiz for each chapter. He also provided a text book also

I really enjoyed his class, he's good at explaining complicated material and gives lots of examples to help you understand concepts. However, you absolutely have to complete all the readings and go to class to keep up with the material. There isn't a lot of homework besides online quizzes and readings.

So far I have never had a professor that not only knows the field above comprehension and has a way of teaching that makes class interesting thanks to the analogies he uses - relatable. This was an excellent class; however, the professor does ask a lot from his students. You should expect to take at least one quiz every week on reading from the textbook. If you enjoy a good challenge and are looking for a fun professor, this is your class!

I don't understand the negative reviews on this site. Jose is a good teacher who is always open to help you if you don't understand something from the class. You are expected to do weekly quizzes, but these are multiple-choice for the most part (I spectacularly messed up an application test, but that was on me). If you respect him, he respects you

During the pandemic, I met with him a couple of times via Zoom and he was very helpful. I have a B because I did not do so well on the first exam. Highly recommended

Mr. Rodriguez is the best professor I have had in NOVA so far. He cares about your progress and he is always available after class. He met the class virtually during our class days and he recorded the meeting for review, which was very helpful. He gives weekly quizzes, some are hard, but he provides all you need in Modules. Students who wrote bad reviews were just expecting an easy A class. He was a great professor, he knows the class objectives and he gives good examples in his lectures when he's explaining a topic. However, sometimes the lectures can get a little bit boring. He mostly explains curves and models in the class, so it's better to read the homework/book.

If you love economics, take him! I personally, don't understand it. However, he made it understanding and provides office hours. Is willing to always communicate and cares about your grade. 3 essays throughout the semester, and chapter tests every week. He does a lot of visual work through examples which are helpful for us visual learners!!

He provides a clear grading criteria, it is not an easy class but if you do the work and keep up with the class schedule you will learn the subject and get a good grade. He is available during office hours to go over any questions you may have. Be ready to write 3 essays in his class, and listening to his lectures will help you learn the material.

Best professor I have had this semester. He has this system for students to make appointments on Calendly and it works great, he will see you right on-time. I have met with him to go over my tests and he explained what my mistakes were. I like how he set his Canvas site and all the extra resources to help you prepare. Take him, you won't regret

This is an easy class. You are graded on 12 chapter tests and he will drop the lower two at the end. The tests are relatively easy although I have found a few challenging questions. He takes seriously his lectures and he takes almost all class to deliver them, but all he talks about in class is relevant for the tests. I strongly recommend him.

Prof. Rodriguez has been the best professor I have had this semester. His lectures are much better organized and presented than any other professor I have had so far. He keeps you working on a weekly basis with chapter tests, but I prefer it to midterms and final exams. He asks for three essays that are not difficult. Easy A if you keep up.

To get an "A": print and read the chapter before the class, highlight the important points in the book, attend lecture and take notes on his PowerPoint slides, review the highlights in the book after class, create a cheat sheet of any formula or calculation, take the quiz (open book, need calculator and scratch paper).

Just took a class with Prof. Rodriguez this summer, he is the best online teacher I have had. His class is so well organized, grading criteria is super clear and despite the monotony of listening to lectures via Zoom, he manages to make so many of them super interesting and engaging. Take him, you won't regret it.

Prof. Rodriguez put a lot of effort into making a very organized and manageable course. Great lectures, easy to reach out to, and genuinely cares about his students. Tests are 90% of the grade (open-note & online w/ lockdown browser). A lot of extra-credit opportunities, including attendance. A 75%+ final exam grade replaces your worst unit exam.

His lectures were always very informative, and I genuinely learned useful things from him that would benefit me in real life. If your bad at taking tests however I would look somewhere else. However his grading with attendance as well as getting a bad exam replaced by the final if you get 75% or over is very useful and makes it easy to pass.
