i think hes new.. he seems very unsure of whats expected, so its hard to study/ prepare for his exams.. his teaching style is one of a high school teached = easy.. his lectures arent intersting at all, you will find yourself going to sleep..
He is new. Does overkill on review. Tests aren't bad. Class is slow, but if you pay attention you can learn. Reminds me of H.S. Not very hard. couple of papers, some tests, he doesn't believe in pop quizes.
He is sooo easy. Also I talked with him personally and he even told me himself that he doesn't give hard tests because he wants you to learn. His whole exam is in the study guide, and he tells you what to study in it. So I love this class and I'm going to take him for 2020.
Professor Garcia is a really nice guy. You can tell he knows his history and is excited about teaching it. He assigned a few papers, but he doesn't grade too hard, just provide examples. This is a good class to take if you want to learn something about history without worrying too much about your grade.
He was a good teacher and was fair. The class itself is easy to get an A if you put so effort towards the class and study alittle, you dont really need to book jus the study guide. He is a good teacher keep him if you have him.
Very nice teacher. Easy class. Nothing hard about it. Willing to help and answer any questions. Very accessible outside of class. Wants u to do good. I made a high C on one of the tests He came to Me for extra credit! Very good!
Excellent Class! Three test total, the final is not cumulative, he's also willing to assist any student. During class he will focus on lecturing, but sometimes there is group work and videos. Very few and easy quizes and only 3 papers total. The classes are fairly and interesting, I would recomend this class to anyone.
This class should not be hard for anyone. He is very clear about the assignments and even gives out study guides that tell you what will be on the test. Unless you really like history this will not be the most exciting class you've ever taken. But come to class and take decent notes, you should be fine.
wow if there was ever an easy A this is it..most lenient grader ive ever had..three essays, three tests, no quizzes..this class was easier that my high school american hist class..TAKE HIM!!!...o yea, he's a real nice guy too and if you participate he will hook it up in the end if you're borderline
This class was insanely easy! I felt like I was in high school again! one of the easiest A's ever. Tests nor final is cumulative. Class is often boring but still go because he tells you information that's on the test which isn't in your book! gives a review sheet before each test that is exactly like actual test. Would recommend taking this class!
OMG! Take this Garcia! He is soooooooo nice and welling to help! If you don't do good on your tests, just go to his office and he'll offer extra credit! SO NICE... I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!! Best teacher at UCF for sure!
He is always very well prepared for classes and he makes the materials easier to understand. He knows his stuff very well. I learned new things about American History!
very nice professor. tests were a bit challenging, but he was always there for extra help. i was very impressed by his willingness to help his students.
He is a very easy teacher. I didn't read the book and I go an A in the class. The workbook was helpful but not the regular text. He gives a study guide and if it isn't on there it isn't on the test. If you take notes on everything he says, the study guide is easy to complete (its not mandatory to do). show up and take notes. Youll get an A.
I had this guy last semester and he makes this one of the easiest classes. Read the study guides before the tests and you will pass them no problem.
He was Amazing. Definitely an easy class. Just read to the workbook, pay attention to lectures, take notes, and you will have no problem getting an A. Definitely Recommend!!
Garcia is a great teacher, you will learn alot from him. And he is an easy paper grader. Tests are not easy...but they are fair.
GREAT PROF!!!! extremely helpful and straightforward!!! just make sure u GO TO CLASS!!!
Take him for AMH 2010 very vey nice man. Goes out of his way ot help. Very easy grader on essays. 2 tests and a final. You have to go to class though but its not bad at all. Loves Football. Definatly recommend.
He's a great guy. The class is a breeze if you go to class and TAKE NOTES. If you study what's on the study guide, you're set for tests. Easy essay grader. Likes group work and participation. 2 essays, 2 tests and the final, and 1 group project. Overall a great professor.
just talks and you have to take notes. grades more than tests. tests are easy if u can memorize a lot in a short amount of time.
He's such a great guy! He's really organized and very passionate about the subject. He's EXTREMELY helpfull. If you ever need anything, just ask. Pretty easy A, just make sure you study his reviews and the notes. Great professor! And the class wasn't bad either.
He's a good prof and really knows his stuff.I had trouble making it to class and that made it difficult to do well.I did enjoy the class and he tries to make it more interesting with group projects. The test are a little difficult only cause they contain material that was not covered in class but he does tell you to read the book.
Very nice and extremely easy. He gives study guides for the tests and the tests are almost exactly like them. He is an easy grader on papers and projects.
Great professor! The class itself is a little boring because it is a recap of what everyone learned in high school. But, he makes the class as simple as possible and grades very lenient on essays and short answers. If you don't do good on a test he'll talk to you about extra credit so you can get an A. Take him if you need to take this class!!
Garcia is a very very nice man. He loves history and will do almost anything to help his students. I would highly recommend taking him. He explains clearly the assignments and whats going to be on the tests. If you go talk to him he will give you EC and he is very understanding.
He is a great teacher!! He makes it an interesting as he can -- and he is such a NICE guy! He emailed me back on any questions I had and gives you a really good review sheet for each test. It is NOT hard if you put in a little effort, I highly recommend him!!
Easy class and an amazing teacher, nothing on the exam is a surprise. He is fair. This is my second time taking Mr. Garcia, his class is very easy to get an A- in but to get a solid A you have to work for it due to his tough grading scale.(93.9 is an A-)
He is simply awesome. He cares about his students and wnats you to pass. He gives a review sheet that basically is the test. An easy A if you study the material. On one of the tests, i accidentally skipped to pages, and he let me write a small psper to make up for those pages, and ended up giving me more points than those 2 pages were actually wort
He is a great professor! He doesn't give a lot of homework, only a couple papers assigned in advance. I took 2 of his classes and got an A and never read the textbook. He gives good test reviews and has good class discussions too. He's also very understanding about problems that might come up and offers some extra credit.
TAKE HIM! He's a GREAT person and professor. 3 tests, and a few papers. he's always willing to help students who need it. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! took him for 2010 and 2020 and got A's in both without studying more than a day before the tests!
Mr. Garcia can be a bit boring at times, but he is very clear on what he wants you to know for the tests. I usually didn't mind going to his classes (which is mandatory) and his tests are pretty straightforward. A few papers, but those are very easy As. Got an A in both 2010 and 2020.
He is so so so nice!! I was not interested in this class before taking it, but he did a good job of getting me interested. He gives an extremely thorough study guide for each test -- if you use it, you will get an A. TAKE HIM, he was my favorite teacher this semester!
Just go to class and pay attention, he takes attendence so dont miss classes. We get in groups for debates (those are annoying)...Nice and understanding professor, he wants everyone to get a good grade, will offer you individual extra credit if you dont get a A or B on a test!
GREAT TEACHER. use the study guides to study for the tests and you'll get a guaranteed A. Take him if u can!
Great teacher i took him during summer very help and easy to talk to as long as you participate some in class
Cares about his students, wants them to pass. He's always avaliable if you need help. His tests are somewhat difficult, but he gives you a study guide, USE IT!! It's basically the exact questions on the test. Participate in class, he loves that! Nice guy overall, would take him again.
Great professor that teaches about things you might not have known in history. He spent 30 seconds on D-Day and several classes on the Great Depression. It was interesting to learn more than just presidents and wars. Highly recommended. somewhat difficult tests for a gen ed but I managed B's on all of them and there's other parts to your grade.
Professor Garcia is a very respectable man who always more than willing to clarify any questions you may have. He is very reasonable and attendance to class only makes the test easier. I would highly recommend. Great guy.
Hes a great teacher if you have to take history take it with Mr. Garcia. Ive taken him for both history classes and have done really well. I would highly recommend him. Just remember to go to class because attendance really counts. :)
Such a nice guy!Really cares about students. If u dont do well on tests,go to his office hours,he will give u extra credit paper to do.I hate history but he makes taking it a lil better.Attendance is mandatory which sucks!U can miss like 3 days.Test are not bad if u study for them.I would take him again becuz he is very understanding and helpful
I took him for 2010 and 2020. Don't really have to use the book. All tests are based on his notes. If you miss class make sure you get the notes from somebody else. I got an A- in 2010 and A in 2020. On tests, there are always 2-4 fill in the blank questions so make sure you know the notes.
Great guy! Tests are passable, just requires a lot of memorization. Attend class and take notes along with doing the three small assignments and you should pass the class easy. Not a bad class for history (I never liked history).
Great Guy. i am not really big into history but he gives you relevant information as opposed to just dates and stuff. Study your notes extremely well that you take in class and you will pass the tests as well as the class.
What he teaches is actually INTERESTING! He's a great guy - cares about his students. Spend a bit of time memorizing before tests and you'll be fine. Go to class, write down what he tells you to write, and put in a bit of effort for tests and its at leas a high B. Oh, and he loves participation.
Lots of note taking which drags class on. Almost 100% of test questions come from notes and he gives you a study guide that helps a lot on tests. I got an A but studied a lot.
This teacher is awesome. His class is boring at times but he is a great teacher. i wasnt even interested in history before this and he got me to actually listen and learn. as long as you take notes on what he tells you to and do the study guides youll get a good grade on tests and quizzes. make sure your there for class so you dont miss the notes.
Awesome class!!Very easy to understand and definitley a passable class. information was not too difficult but required reading and studying to do learn the material. Mr.Garcia was a great guy and offered alot of help.
One of the worst teachers. I dont even need to go to class. I can just read the book. That's all he does.
Great teacher. Makes history simple and knows what he is talking about. Posts a nice review before the test. Always willing to offer help and enjoys students getting involved. Attendance is mandatory but its vital to your grade, as there are group projects and presentations. Take this class if you need a teacher who cares about your grade.
Great teacher and great class. Give nice study guides and usually crosses stuff off. Group work is easy as is the one paper. Attendance is mandatory but its a fun class. He's very interested in helping his students and is a nice guy overall. Highly recommend him!
Hard class. Basically just reads straight from the book.
Class wasn't hard if you showed up and took notes. 95% of the test comes from his notes. Group work is easy, just make sure you elaborate. Paper is pretty simple as well, it all comes from the book. Provides a study guide, which he usually removes thins from. He really loves history and he makes it interesting. Would highly recommend!
A few group papers take a couple of minutes to write. Individual paper not hard as well. Prepare for quizzes:only thing that kept me from an A. I got B+ w/mimimal bk use. His lectures cover most test material. Class mandatory. 9:30am class too early for social college students. 3 tests and last was non-cumulative final. I'm taking him for AMH 2020.
Garcia really knows his history. I took him over the summer and we had 3 Exams and were supposed to have 3 Quizzes but because of the time crunch, we didn't take the last Quiz and he gave all of his full credit for it. I think he gives you detailed notes in the Fall and Spring, but over the Summer we got little notes and had to read from the text.
Garcia knows what he is teaching. Make sure you go to class or get notes from someone. He basically tells you what is on the test/quizzes,"for exam and historical purposes"- make sure you write it down. Gives exam guides. 4 tests, like 3 easy quizzes, 3 easy group projects, 1 easy paper. Class was a breeze. I am taking him for 2020. Great teacher!
prof garcia's class is interesting and pretty easy. he's a really nice guy who will always help if you ask. he gives several "group projects" that are really easy and 3 big tests, but he tells you everything that's on it. I would take him again!
Prof Garcia is very kind and really wants his students to succeed. He helped me after class several times prior to exams to make sure I was studying the right information. It is not an easy class but simple to pass if the work is done. He offers extra credit (to bring up your score) if you fail a test. Very nice man.
Amazing professor! I had him for both AMH 2010 and 2020 and would take him again! Exams and quizzes are not that hard; keep up with the reading and you'll do great!
Take good notes, keep up with the reading. Not an easy class but as long as you try to succeed you will. Pretty much outlines the test and is very knowledgeable...don't be afraid to ask questions.
Great Professor! Makes learning easy and lets you know what is going to be on the tests.
You're lucky if you get Prof. Garcia! Very helpful and will work with you.
You're lucky if you get him.
Great professor. Super helpful. One major paper, 3-4 group assignments (arent difficult), 3 exams. Gives study guides and lets you know what to focus on. I'm taking him again next semester. He's nice and organized. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND him.
He is definitely a professor that I would recommend. Make sure you go to class and do the study guides, and you should be fine! He really cares about his students, and I'm planning on taking him again for AMH2020! Get him!
Will help you out a lot, if you want extra credit go to his office hours and ask for it. Group assignments which help your grade, wants his students to do well if you show a bit of concern for your grade and interest in the class he will help you however possible. Extra credit given if you miss no more than 3 classes but attendance isn't mandatory.
Great professor! Very helpful and easy to understand. Gives study guides before tests. A lot of notes but it's exactly what will be on the test. Definitely recommend him!
He was a great teacher, he truly cares about your grades and drops the lowest quiz grade. In order to succeed you must go to class and take notes!his tests come straight from the lectures. you do use your book alot so get it.
Focused class, knows a lot about what he teaches, informative, brings many outside sources, class flow is great, study guide is extremely useful, tests aren't easy but aren't impossible. Always there to assist outside of class, responds to emails in a prompt manner. Overall Professor Garcia is well organized, my favorite teacher this semester again
I absolutely loved the way Professor Garcia taught his class, very professional and interesting. Always willing to help students and showed us a great deal of respect. I'm a History Major who wanted to go to law school, and now I'm serious considering becoming a professor. I also found him kind of adorable.
He was the best professor i have had at UCF. There are no surprises and if you go to class everyday and take notes the tests will be very easy. The tests come straight from the notes. He is extremely helpful and wants you to do well--so he is always willing to help. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Best prof I've had. His lectures are straightforward. you can tell this guy loves to teach. I took the summer session of this class and it was still a breeze. Don't really need the book all that much except for several group assignments (which were a cake walk).Loved every part of this class. I actually looked forward to going most days.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! i highly recommend taking his class if you have the chance. his class is very straightforward and interesting.
If you want a professor that makes history interesting and easy to learn, take Mr. Garcia! He's an amazing professor and as long as you do the work (which isn't a lot) and take good notes there's no reason not to get an A. I wish I could take another class with him!
I already knew quite a bit of history going into this class but Mr. Garcia definitely taught about the things normal teachers don't go into. He's an ok teacher. Barely any work to do. He likes you if you laugh at his jokes. Class is not mandatory but you will miss quite a bit. Also, he tells you what will be on the exams. Recommend for GPA boost.
Great professor. He helped me a lot when i needed it and went over my study guides. He tells you what you need to know for the tests. There are 3 tests and 4 quizzes, easy to learn. Book is not really needed. I definitely recommend him, one of my favorite!
Great professor. He helped me a lot when i needed it and went over my study guides. He tells you what you need to know for the tests. There are 3 tests and 4 quizzes, easy to learn. Book is not really needed. I definitely
super sweet. straightforward. he tells you exactly what to study for the tests. group projects are EASY. pretty easy A as long as you go to class and get all of the notes. attendance is mandatory. 1 essay that is straightforward and simple...i just copied the notes and never read the book and got an A but i needed it for the essay.
Very straightforward teacher. The classwork is super easy and all you have to do is memorize the study guide for the exams. Attendance is mandatory, and he seems to have a fetish with the word "per-say." If you are struggling (which is unlikely) go to his office hours and he'll help you out with some extra credit.
Tests are straight from study guide and all other assignments are extremely easy clear and non-time consuming. I really liked how he remains neutral during every topic, and enjoyed the history channel video series he plays tying into each topic. Sit in the front and raise your hand every once in a while cause participation is graded.
He is such an amazing prof. He gives you a study guide that tells you exactly what will be on the exam. We have group assignments and quiz grades that help if you don't do well on the exams. I got D's and C's on my exams and A's on all my quizzes and received a B. He truly cares about his students and will work with you.
Best professor I've ever had!!He was very clear on everything he wanted and he gives you a study guide for each test! You have to write only 1 paper and all of your assignments are done in groups. You still have to study for the tests but there should be no reason for why you don't get an A in the class! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
This class is easy but if you want to learn and actually enjoy history, I would look elsewhere. He plays a lot of History channel videos and basically reads what you should have read in your book. It's required for the History major but the way he presents it is very simplistic and is a repeat of high school. Not a bad teacher, just not a good one.
Professor Garcia is very helpful and enthusiastic about teaching. He rewards those who come to class and participates and works with you if you have issues. He tests using key phrases or ideas instead of memorization of people and dates. Basically, come to class and take notes and you'll ace it. His reviews are amazing.
If you manage to remain slightly attentive you will do very well. Taking notes isn't too important aside from writing down the little lists he gives you because you will need them for the test. He is very generous with grading! I scored a two Cs and a B on the exams and still pulled an A-. Do extra credit and study guides and you will succeed.
Go to class and take notes and the tests are VERBATIM from the last notes, like while you are reading the test questions you can hear his voice. Study guide is helpful. He has a very monotone voice, but he finds himself funny which is humorous. I enjoyed the class. :)
"For historical and exam purposes" is how you know exactly what will be on the test. If you write down what he tells/gives you in class you will do great on the tests. Very sweet, considerate guy who really knows his stuff. Great professor, my class was lucky enough to have a take-home final but I think it was a one-time thing. Take him if you can!
He was a great teacher. Very understandable, very helpful, really knows what he is talking about and relays information in an understandable way.
By far the best professor I've ever had - you could tell he loved what he taught, so class was always very interesting. I looked forward to going to class - the tests are super easy, just pay attention in class, take notes, and study the study guides and you will get an A. Also, I definitely recommend getting the book.
As a History major with a lot of background in both western civilization and art history, I was disappointed when he would glaze over topics that could be very fascinating for students. Very monotone, but laughs at all his own jokes. Extremely easy class with barely any work. Basically, just pay attention and you will do great!
He pretty much verbally lectures everyday and you have to take notes from that. Nice guy and not too difficult of a class. He doesn't put any notes online and takes attendance everyday no joke, so I wouldn't recommend if you don't like to go to class. Also there is some group work. I found the class itself interesting.
HORRIBLE. I like history but this was really dry. Tests were ridiculous and lecture was just memorizing a bunch of stupid long LISTS. Tests were filled with trick questions just to mess a student up. I highly don't recommend. Don't listen to anyone else. I am the most recent taker (2013 fall) of this class. And I'm telling you, not an easy A.
Prof Garcia is a great alternative to other professors. His course is a Gordon Rule credit but does not feel like one. You work together as a small group to fulfill the requirements. The class is out of 1000 points. Meaning you need a 900 for an A. His class is built around smaller quizes to ensure people who get D's and F's on tests will stil pass
He is honestly such a great professor! just go to class and take notes on what he says. When he says "for historical and exam purposes" - listen and take good notes, it will be on the test. Assignments are not difficult and he gave us extra credit too He is very knowledgeable and easy to listen to and understand. One of my favorites - take him!
He's a very good teacher. If you don't go to class you'll miss a lot. You don't need the book, the exams are based on what he says in class. Take notes.
I love this guy. He's so sweet and really loves what he is teaching. There is quite a bit of group work for this class, but it's not awful and is hard to not get an A on. There a a few quizzes that have a study guide, as well as the two major tests. He makes history very relevant, clear, and interesting. I'm taking him again.
WORLD civ class but he glazes over and neglects to expand on histories that aren't European. Uses same phrases all the time, reads from the book, super dry lectures, seems uncomfortable when students ask questions. Easy class, but don't take him for this class if you are a history major/minor or interested in more than Euro-centric perspectives.
High school formatted class. Garcia is very straight forward and clear. Unbiased and enjoys class interaction. Essay writing for class is laughable; simple thought process about the topic translates to easy A's. Tests are simple & similiar to study guide. Written part of tests are identical to lecture. Book is helpful, not needed, doable without.
MR.Garcia was a very good teacher. The key to his class is to attend and take notes. I suggest following the study guide while he is giving notes and filling out the guide to study for the exam. Overall, Guys kinda guy simple, easy to get along with and likes participation. Take this class
I LOVED his class. He is extremely helpful, easy & his passion for history is evident. He knows what he is talking about and makes it clear. The best way to get an A is by going to class & taking notes on everything he says. His tests are literally done from everything he discusses. Though you do need the book for quizzes and occasional easy essays
Prof is easy going. Clear about what to expect on his exams and he listens when you speak concerns. He is understanding and he is caring. You don't HAVE to read the chapters, but it only benefits you on the tests. The lectures are extremely crucial, he tells you answers to questions on his tests. his tests are tough.
He is very passionate and smart about this subject. You have a couple group projects. His lectures are crucial to go to and listen. Everything he teaches is what is on the test. His tests are difficult, but if you take notes and sometimes read the chapters you should be good. He's a cool professor in general & cares for your success. Take him!
This course is a very dull and boring course to me personally, but the professor makes it fun. He is very intriguing in his discussions with students and cares about his students' gradeslearning experience. This class is very discussion-based. Tests are 99% based on his lectures in the class. TAKE NOTES!
Gracia is awesome! I recommend him 100% if you are looking into taking AMH 2020. He does assign papers but that's only because it's a Golden Rule course. He's really laied back and will give extra credit if you ask! His tests and quizzes follow his study guides exactly, so do them! He also takes attendance and it counts as part of ur grade(easy A!)
Not that hard but definitely annoying coming from someone who doesn't care about history. Study guides are incredible vague and his notes are really long. I got an A in the class because I memorized the study guides verbatim. Grades papers really easily. Not hard at all just annoying.
Garcia easily became my favorite professor at UCF. Lectures very interesting. There's three papers and a couple of group projects but he's a very nice grader. He's willing to help students out, too. Study guides for every quiztest are online and have exactly what you need to know. Take his class, you won't regret it!
Garcia is a great professor. He assigns several group projects but they are extremely easy to get A's on. He assigns several short papers, a few quizzes, and three tests. All these assignments are incredibly easy to get A's on if you study and actually try. He is by far the best history teacher at UCF so far. Enthusiastic teacher and fun class.
Professor Garcia was awesome! Everything was straight to the point and he made history bearable. Would definitely take again
Good professor, you can tell he enjoys the topic. 5 quizzes, 3 tests. 3 group reports. Gives study guides, fill in the terms from your notes and memorize, all tests are directly from lectures. Read book ahead, he like discussion participation. If you struggle, talk to him, he is willing to help you bring up your grade and do well. He really cares.
Overall, pretty easy course. He grades attendance daily. The class average for the 2 tests were C's, 2 quizzes are easy A's, and hes a very lenient grader for your 2 essays. He gives one extra credit opportunity of a 25 point paper (class is 1000pts). Definitely an easy B. The tests were a little challenging but other than that the course was easy.
He is a very good teacher. Shows great interest in the topic and encourages students to like the class. Most of his grades come from group projects. There where 3 tests and 3 quizzes. In average the class was very easy. Quizzes and tests are very easy as long as you read the material. He takes attendance everyday. He gives extra credit if you ask.
He is always there for you if you need it, one of his main lines being, "I am here to help you succeed". You can drop by his office hours and talk about anything you want. Also, he makes tests easy by providing study guides. By the way, Key Words: "For historical and exam purposes" (if you hear this from him on a topic, it's on the test) -Freshman
Garcia falls into a unique category of instructors. He offers time for every student within the class to finish taking notes, as well as understand the information he lectures. Which allows everyone to fully grasp the course material. The quiz's are a cake walk if you just look in your book. I highly recommend Jose Garcia.
Extremely helpful teacher. Took Western Civ during summer B with him. Passed with an A-. Pay attention to lectures more than the textbook.
He's a really good teacher and knows what he's talking about.
This teacher is AMAZING! I would leave every class learning something new; he really does know everything he talks about. There's 1 online quiz every week that comes straight from one page in the chapter, 1 paper, and only 2 tests (easy midterm & final 15% each). If you write down everything he says, go to class, and study you'll pass. Very easy A.

REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS' SUCCESS
This professor is a kind man, yet does not teach the best. He is rather dull with nonstop information, and then grades really hard. Would not recommend taking him for an easy A. You have to work very hard, and this teacher is extremely unclear with what he wants you to do.
I've taken Professor Garcia for both AMH 2010 and AMH 2020 and I couldn't have had a better professor for this class. History isn't my strong suit, but he made his lectures interesting and straight to the point. He gives exam study guides for ever exam which is essential for getting an A on the exam. He is also always there to help at his office
Pretty easy class. He posts the rubric for each assignment way ahead of time and is easy to talk to if you have questions. Expect a weekly quiz straight from the text book, a couple papers and a mid-term and final. Be sure to pay attention during lectures and to the study guides. Most of the tests are from there.
Professor Garcia is a great teacher, everything he expects of you is in the syllabus. There are only 3 written assignments which are fairly easy. Lectures are interesting. As long as you put in some effort and go to class at least 80% of the time, you can get a good grade.
His lectures are easy to understand. Professor Garcia really cares about students success. There is one quiz every week based on the textbook material. If you take notes during his lectures, it is easy to pass his tests. I would recommed this professor to everyone.
Pretty easy class, he teaches what you need to know for the tests and doesn't teach anything that is unnecessary. His lectures can be a little dull, but overall easy to understand. Truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
Professor Garcia is an excellent choice. He lectures only what you will need to know for exam purposes. He doesn't give you unnecessary information. There's a quiz once a week based on the textbook readings. Easy class and exams, I would definitely take him again!
Professor Garcia seems to really care about the material and his students. He tells you what you need to know for the unit tests and the chapter tests are straight from the book. Three group projects that are pretty simple, as long as you have a decent group, and the papers for those projects aren't graded harshly at all.
Professor Garcia was one of the best professors I've had at UCF. He genuinely cared about the material and his students. The test questions are taken straight from lectures, so it is very direct. If you attend class and do your part of group projects you should do well. There are group projects but you are given class time to work on them.
Professor Garcia is very straightforward and really wants everyone to do well in his class. Chapter quizzes were online & straight from the textbook. Tests were also online & straight from lectures. Theres 3 group projects that he graded nicely as long as you follow the rubric, nothing to stress about. Show up and take good notes youll do good.
All quizzes online, you have a week to do them. Midterm and Final online too, you also have a week to do those. Only a few writing assignments but thats just to meet the GRW requirement of the course. He takes attendance so come, take notes on his stuff because the final and midterm are word for word of what he says. Take him, easy A, nice guy
Really good professor. Always engaging in lecture and makes class interesting. All quizzes and exams are online, and there are only a few writing discussions. Easy, interesting, worth it. Hes a nice, solid professor.
Took Professor Garcia this spring semester and he was my favorite professor. He is very sweet and cares about his students. Quizzes and exams are take home, and as long as you pay attention to class and take good notes then you will do great! Attendance is mandatory but it pays off if you want to succeed in the class.
Literally the easiest class ever. Very clear expectations and deadlines. I recommend showing up to class because he gives notes that you won't find anywhere else (some questions on the midterm and final were based on these notes!!!) He's very knowledgable and willing to help you.
For my class he has us do 3 group presentations and an essay outside of class. Tests & quizzes were online, open note & at home so they were very easy. Attendance is required (he does a sign-in sheet every class), and most lecture notes were verbatim to the test questions so itd be dumb to get those wrong by not going to class
Attendance is taken, but showing up is actually pretty good. During lectures he highlights the important things "the key takeaway for historical and exam purposes..." understand those things and do the assigned work and you will do well. Just a few primary assignments, quizzes and final are online and you get a week to do them.
Take Prof. Garcia, he is one of the best. Although it's an online class, you learn a lot. His quizzes are super easy as they are just word documents that you submit. The discussions are easy as long as you clearly follow the rubric, beware though, they are long so you will be writing kinda a lot. There's 3 essays, pretty easy and straighforward
One quiz, a 500-word post with two replies, and 300-word essay per week. One 5-page essay at the end of the semester. I loved learning in this course as it was very informative and broadens your horizons. Put in the effort and listen to his feedback and you'll do great.
Easiest class I've taken at UCF by far. Learned quite a bit too w/o much stress which was a nice change. Took the class during Summer C (entire summer) and on average had 2 assignments a week (quiz + some writing assignment). The quizzes are cake, and as long as you put in a little time for research so should the writing assignments.
He is very caring and organized. Appreciates solid work and provides good feedback. Weekly writing assignment of min 500 words w two 250 word responses to other students. Weekly 15 question multiple choice (5 Options) quiz worth 30 points. One large paper. No final. A lot of work for a 2000 level class-the only reason I would not take again.
This course did have quite a bit of homework but if you keep up with it you will pass.
I wouldnt recommend taking American History with this professor. He grades super hard and his assignments are long and take multiple hours to complete. His tests are impossible and he asks questions that arent in the book. With literally no direction at all for almost assignments, its miserable
Overall loved this class! It was all online and could do on your own time! Quizzes were very straight forward and easy after doing the readings. If you turned in assignments early he would grade them right away. Weekly discussions/ papers as well as chapter quizzes. He gave excellent feedback and explained why you received your grade. He is caring.
Professor Garcia was awesome! His class is really straight forward and his quizzes are downloadable and not taken on Canvas. He required the use of the textbook for some assignments. Frequent essays, but they aren't too bad. He was always an email away and responds/ grades promptly. Absolutely loved this class!
Garcia seems tough at first, but if you just follow directions the class is fine. Expect 1 paper & quiz a week, plus an occasional discussion post. 100% need the textbook b/c direct quotes from specific sections are needed in your Analytical essays. I thought I submitted a paper & realized I didn't after deadline- he helped me out & took it late.
An essay or discussion and quiz each week. Quizzes are on words docs so a lot of time to finish. His grading is very fair and he gives great feedback, as long as you read his requirements and stick to them you will be fine. Small amount of reading because the essays require you to quote from small sections in the book. Definitely recommend.
Ridiculous amount of writing even for Gordon rule class. Imho, still do not understand some of the grading criteria for specific historical examples. Easy if you are a fast writer, but with my speed each weekly assignment took me about 3 to 5 hours to complete. Professor is nice, book is optional if you can pretend like you cited it when you didn't
Graded way too hard for a gordon rule GEP class.
Each week had a 500-word essay and a quiz with an occasional discussion. However, the two responses had to be 250 words each, which was a little tedious. The rubric is clear, and he tells you where you missed points. Put in some effort, and you'll do well.
TONS of writing, and many in-depth assignments and discussions so get ready! But he's really an awesome professer. Grades quickly, gives good feedback, and if you put in the effort he notices. I also really liked the way he organized the course.
A fantastic professor who gives great feedback and has a great balance of encouragement and helpful criticism in his grading! I had one assignment at the beginning of the semester that I did poorly on and he gave me the feedback I needed to do very well the rest of the semester. He loves when you cite historical resources often! 10/10
A good kind man. And he's a little difficult but not as much as some of others I mentioned, like Amy Foster, Peter Larson, etc.. But he's a good professor, and he is willing to help you. And he enjoys feedback. A far cry from teachers/professors in Brooklyn/New York. Hit it hard in his class, and you will pass and succeed.
AMAZING!!!!!! Took him for WOH 2012. Do the work and you will get an A. Quite a bit of reading but the weekly assignments are super easy. Every week is reading a chapter or 2, reading modules, and either a word doc test, PowerPoint project, or short reflection (easier than you'd think). Very generous guy!!
Amazing professor, was very responsible and showed he cared to students. Assignments and due dates were consistent and the textbook was a necessary and great resource. Generous grader and he was understanding when I ran into an issue with an assignment. Would definitely recommend.
Class is really easy while also being interesting. you don't need the textbook but it is helpful to have.
You get a paper, a quiz, and a crossword each week. The professor does absolutely nothing and the TAs are on a power trip, taking around 15 points off for minuscule errors that's after you wait 1-2 months for the grade to be graded.
Second class with Dr. Garcia and I absolutely love this man. Do the work and you will get a great grade.
Professor Garcia's class is a gem - easy yet engaging. The work is manageable, and Unstuck AI makes exam prep a breeze. Definitely take this if you can.
I like the way this course was organized and taught by a great professor.
Really easy class to pass. You will need to purchase the textbook. Lots of reading and writing. He assigns lots of papers to write which are 300-700 words and discussion questions (300 words) that needs 100 word responses to other people. Tests/ Quiz are 50 points each but all answers are on the slides, videos, or the textbook.
Dr. Garcia structures the course well and sets out clear expectations for each assignment. There is a chapter reading from the textbook and an assignment due on Friday each week, which can be anything from a quiz to a paper or PowerPoint presentation. You'll have to do research for writing, but most content is from the book. Just budget your time!
super quick to email back, very understanding, super kind
