Have him for virtual. He takes a bit to respond to emails, but he always picks up his phone. He is always willing to help and loves his job. It isn't so much work and he is really, really friendly and helpful when needed. :)

Very good teacher had him for ENC1101.He makes his own handouts that are used in class. Very nice and will help you when needed. Most of the class is writing essays but he makes them simple and he goes over everything he wants on them. A lot of class discussions but is not boring; he likes his students to participate. Taking him for ENC 1102 also.

ENC1102: I was a freshman, I had english at 7 in the morning. I missed six classes, I wish I hadn't. Although I passed with an A, I missed a lot simply bc he is an open teacher and the atmosphere is great and he is always open to any progressive suggestions. Definitely take him whether english is your strong subject or not, he is the best!

Currently taking his online course and its too much work. 5 modules to complete, 3 essays and a final project. EACH module consists of SEVERAL(7-10)readings to summarize, two grammar quizzes & an overall quiz for the module. Its not hard but you have to put in A LOT of time and effort. He has given an extra credit assignment so far worth 100 points

Great teacher overall. Taking his online section. He gives a lot of work but no exams. You will write 3 essays and a final paper with a PowerPoint presentation. Lots of discussion posts to do but gives about 3 weeks to finish them once assigned. He doesn't grade assignments right away. Can sometimes take weeks. Overall I would take him again.

Blanco is an amazing teacher took him for a mini term. Did quite a few essays(if you hate writing don't take him)they are easy especially if you follow his directions. Easy A if you can listen. He prepares you for each essay and gives you helpful links on how to do the essay write properly. Will take him again and wish more teachers were like him.

Mr. Blanco is an excellent professor. He connects with the students and communicates well with everyone. I enjoyed the writing; his instruction and the prep work made it quite easy. The Essay topics he selected were very interesting. I highly recommend this class and am looking forward to taking another class with him in the future.

I took him for both 1101 and 1102. Both classes were great! He truly cares for his students, and his passion for teaching really shows. In 1101, we wrote lots of essays and about 3 poems. In 1102, we didn't do as much essays, but we read poems, dramas, and short stories. Got an A in both classes. He is worth taking! You will not regret it!

Prof. Blanco is great,respectful and has a sense of humor. I took him for both 1101 and 1102 and passed with an A. We have about 5 simple fun essays with a wide range of topics.No tests just in 1102 I remember one test on a short story we read but very easy. Awesome teacher! Took my first virtual class with him and so far it has been a great experience. A lot of work but it is easy and he grades the discussions quickly for the most part. Gives constructive criticism when submitting essays. Hope he teaches 1102 next semester!!!!!

I found out that Blanco was going to teach this class in the fall, so I took it. This class was really easy, and fun. Obviously a lot of writing in this class, but it's all good. Learned a lot from others when we presented our writing to each other. We even published a magazine! Would recommend to anyone that loves writing!

As far as ENC1101 or just any english teacher I had he is the best. Very easy and very straight forward, he pushes you to do well in his class. No book useage really but a fair amount of writing. If you do the work, which isnt much, you will pass. Highly recommend Mr. Blanco, hes cool in a goofy way. He also speaks very good english, no accent.

He is amazing, but i must admit taking Enc1102 mini term with him was a bit challenging. 1101 was way easier but 1102 was filled with tests and plays that we had to memorize. We don't ever use the book. only the play called Fences. so save your money. Besides that, he is great. One of my favorite professors ever to be honest. He is the sweetest.

He is by far the best teacher to take ENC1101 for. You will have to write a lot of essays and do the homework but he is a great teacher. If you come to class everyday it's almost impossible to fail because he helps you.

Professor Jose Blanco is simply amazing. I took two courses with him, and I got an A in both. He does tend to be a little too lenient with his students, therefore giving them nuggets of huge lay back time. But overall, you wont find his lectures to be tiresome or tedious. He will work around your pace at any given time, and is fair in everything.

This professor looks out for the benefit of each student. I hated English with a passion until I took his class. He keeps you engaged and really makes you think. Taking ENC1102 with him because of my success in ENC1101.

Took ENC1101&02 with him, overall of 7 essays to pass both classes with an A. Really simple class structure(online) Everything is set up into modules and you're given 30 days to complete it. Everything is straight forward and set up to give you enough time. Easily one of the best professors at DADE overall. Pick him, you will do great.

My Favorite professor hands down hand him fall of 2015 and he is the nicest EVER !! He brought in doughnuts and gave the easiest of essays. I'm going to miss him lots :)

Professor Blanco was utterly the best professor I had this semester. He always loved coming to our class which made us motivated and excited to learn. He challenges you to think and write about things you haven't before. He is a perfect example of how most professors should be like.

This professor does not have a strict attendance policy; however, his class is very interesting. Jose Blanco cares for his students and he makes connections with them too.

You will need to study to pass the tests but they are not as difficult as they seem. His criteria for the class is simple just follow his guidelines when writing essays. Take his class you will not regret it. He truly cares for your success.

I took this class online, and the criteria was very clear. Everything was laid out nicely for you to work through it. There was one final proctored paper that you needed to get higher than a C in to pass. It was not an EASY A because of all the busy work, but it wasn't hard either. Total of 3 essays one being proctored.

Great professor. All I can say. He is very hilarious, and its not the try hard funny. He is naturally funny. Yes of course you have to read and write. But you learn a lot in a way. You don't have to show up, but that wouldn't be a good idea.... Your missing out.

Took Blanco class for ENC1101 and Im planning on taking ENC1102 with him for my next semester. I actually like him. Hes very understandable. Very nice and his lectures are really life teaching. Makes you connect yourself more with the outside world and the way others might think. Overall I think hes a great professor.

I took ENC1102 online and it was the best decision ever! Everything was clear and easy to do. There are 3 modules and everything is divided nicely. There is one proctored exam which is the final and no midterm. So easy and highly recommend!

Take this class and you will pass! I had to put four stars because I told him that I am an ACCESS student that I need extended time for my assignments but he gave a nice reply. I emailed another email to request extended time but he ignored my email and refused to give it. I would take this class again.

I took this class in the spring of 2020 and it was an Easy A. Completely online with no lecture. Textbook not needed. everything was provided online. He allows late assignments without being penalized. no midterm - one final essay (not proctored). He grades on the easy side so as long as you do the assignments, you are guaranteed to pass.

If you want an easy class, just take this one. The teacher does not pay attention to what you write in your discussions but still gives you 100%. Easy A, I totally recommend. He does not respond to his emails, though, so try joining a group chat if you have questions.

Self-Paced online class, no classroom just do the work before its due. Class is very organized & very easy. He is not a tough grader, & is a very nice guy. When I got sick with covid he worked with me a little bit, although his communication is a little rough (guessing he has a lot of students). Overall EXTREMELY easy class, work wasnt hard at all.

This teacher has been amazing since day 1. He's very caring & loves to talk to his students. His assignments are very simple. He grades very easily & doesn't go into depth on ur writing. I took him for ENC1101 and ENC1102 both classes were so easy, honestly he is the best English professor at MDC, 6 modules 4 discussions each and 1 essay per module, if you want to pass with a good grade just take him.

This is the best professor for English!! I took his class for enc1101 and enc1102. The workload is easy and not overwhelming at all. He is very understanding with deadlines. He is not a tough grader at all. Overall it's an easy A. I would recommend him to anyone!

this professor is honestly the best professor i have ever had in college so far. His lectures are not boring whatsoever, he explains everything perfectly. He is so understanding, and he doesn't have any exams just essays which were very easy. you do not need to have your camera on and participation matters.

I took him for the fall term 2022 super easy class. he didn't have deadlines for homework it was self-pace. you had to write essays and few discussions all the homework was online but honestly, he is an easy grader.

This professor was great and very flexible with deadlines!! If you need want an easy online class take him. There isn't many assignment; mostly discussion posts, quizzes and two essays.

Professor Blanco has a very clear grading criteria so you know what to expect in this class. Of course, a lot of writing but he did not ask any crazy amount of pages or words. Also, he gave a lot of time to complete assignments and I appreciated that because I like proofing my writing and change stuff around a lot lol

There is definitely quite a bit of work involved. Quite a few quizzes, books to read, and papers to write. That being said, he is super fair when grading. There was only a proctored final exam, which was also not that difficult. He provides a lot of videos to prepare you for everything. Even being online, it was easy to understand. Take this class.

Easy A. Just do your essays and you're fine. 5-6 Chapters, 5-6 essays.

Easy class. Stay on track of essay's if not you will fall back but over all easy grade and the professor makes the class interesting.

Prof Blanco is fantastic! While the final exam is proctored, quizzes are not. The course consists of two essays, 25% each to the final grade. Beyond this, there are no additional complexities to note. This class is highly recommended and remarkably straightforward to succeed in.

The professor is very caring and understanding. As long as you put effort and show interest then you should be fine. Very easy and manageable assignments.

This class was so easy online. I will say he does take a while to respond to emails or he might not respond at all. However, if you want to knock out an ENC1102 class, definitely take him as an online course. He gives so much time to do the assignments and they are not time consuming at all.

I took Professor Blanco in Spring term and the rating were all legit. He is a very caring professor and he really is good at what he does. There is alot of writing included in this class, but the good thing is he gives you time to turn in all assignments before the term ends, but don't turn do it last minute because its alot of writing. Take him!!!

took this professor for enc1101 and enc1102 fully online and he is amazing. he does discussion boards and a lot of reading but he isn't a tough grader and his assignments were very easy and simple. passed both classes with an A. i would definitely recommend him. he's very easy going and was easy to reach

This online class with Professor Blanco was a breeze. Easy assignments, no exams, and great flexibility. The lectures were engaging, and I found Unstuck ai to be a super helpful study tool alongside the provided video content.

Good english professor. I took him last semester (Fall 2024) he doesn't give much homeworks just essays over the stories and movies we watched. He is also very flexible, he doesn't deduct points if the assignments are turned in late but just don't take advantage of that. He is pretty chill and you will enjoy the stories he will share.

I took the class online, and overall, the writing assignments the professor gives are quite clear and easy. The only issue is that he takes a really long time to respond to Canvas messages, and when you don't get the highest grade, he doesn't provide an explanation unless you specifically ask for one. He has a MIDTERM PROCTORED and a Final Paper.

Professor Blanco is an amazing professor! I had the pleasure of taking this class via Zoom, and it was honestly one of the best classes. He truly cares about his students, the class has no proctored quizzes, and everything was clearly explained. If you're looking for an easy class and a great professor, definitely take ENC101 with him.

The best professor for ENC1101, really nice and caring, explained the material clearly, making it easier to understand. I appreciated his teaching style, it made learning enjoyable. He was always willing to answer questions and provide extra help. Overall, I had a positive experience in his class and learned a lot. I recommend taking his class.

This is an excellent class! Prof. Blanco is very caring, and his lectures are very interesting and fun. This was my comfort class after a very difficult day or a hard lecture I had earlier. He was always positive and ready to teach. Grades were posted quickly, and he would give you chances in case you were late to assignment.

He was an amazing soul, such a sweet man, caring compassionate, the perfect class to pass in a blink of an eye. He's truthful, fair, respectful. All his grading is fair and transparent. Such a chill teacher doesn't mind if assignments are a few days late just don't push it. Gives about 1 essay broken down into several components each month nothing too crazy. For the most part you're writing about what interest you so its easy. No camera needed.

It was an online course so there was little student-teacher interaction. A lot of assignments tho.

He's very nice, best English teacher at MDC. We had to write essays for each topic which wasn't rigorous and then one research paper at the end of semester. No textbook, No test, No quiz. Take him!

Jose Blanco saved me this semester. I was struggling beyond all belief because of the bullying and ostracizing I was receiving from one of my other classes. I explained my situation to Mr. Blanco and he, without hesitation, saved me from failing. God bless this professor. Truly. He is a gem that's hard to come by at MDC. Also, he knows his subject!

Just take him, you are going to be free, write what you really think and don't be punished for not using very advanced techinques. It will be a great experience for you to get used to writing in a comfortable environment.
