This man knows his stuff. His lecture method is great and he is has a great sense of humor. Very straightforward. By far one of the best professors I have had.

Come to class, take notes, read your book and library reserve assignments, and you have an A. Not to mention he is attractive, funny, and interesting. He's scary at first, but don't take him too seriously (You can tell when he's really serious though). You should have a good time in his class.

If you are relatively uniterested in politics and are simply taking this as a requirement, take something else -- that is, unless you actually enjoy taking notes and showing up to class everyday -- He knows the subject well but it's still really boring.

You cannot be thinned skinned for any of his classes. He is quite funny and can teach you alot about whatever class you are taking. He also travels abroad every summer and offers students the oppurtunity to go. I enjoy his classes very much.

Great teacher. One of the best in the POLS dept. Classes are very informative. Lots of information but if you study you can make a good grade. Doesnt take crap from anyone and will tell you the way it is, whether you like it or not. Also, very attractive professor.

I took Dr. D for IR this summer. He is a great teacher and knows his stuff. Very helpful and made a three class go by fast and I enjoy seating there listen to him. He is leaving AASU after this year to go back to Brazil for diplomacy so if you can take him for one class. I had his IR and Latin American Politics class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IN THE CJSPOL

i took dr. d online. he is straight forward and you know what he expects. if you follow the guidelines for papers you will do fine. this is an online course so you have to read but he gives out great lecture notes. always available via emails or phone call. great teacher and person. Great teacher and very helpful! I took Dr. D for an online summer class and it was better than I expected it to be. There was a lot of work, but as long as you follow the guidelines and read the chapters you will do fine. Would recommend anyone to take any of his classes!

POLS IPE class was the best ever. He is tough but fair. the previous comment was obvious from some slacker that just want an A like in other classes in the dept of political science without working...great teach highly recommended before he leaves after spring 2012.

I took him as an online professor. He was very clear what was expected and assignments graded fast. Did learn he likes a lot of citations in his papers! Wish I would have taken him for Pols 2100!!! Would take him again.

There is fee exams but 90 percent of the exam is from the reading so READ, he is so hilarious and you won't get bored. Definitely would take him again.

Dr. da Cruz knows his stuff. I am a political science major and I have taken several of his classes. He just returned from the War College after being away for two years. He is intelligent, hard working, very helpful to students. Great professor! Highly recommended.

Dr. D is a great person in the classroom and outside. Very helfpful. He has written several letters of recommendations for me anytime I asked. I highly recommend. but, you have to read and come to pass.

Dr. D is tough but deep inside he is a softy :-) He will help if you ask for help. Always willing to help and gives extra credit by encouraging students to go to the Savannah council on world affairs...I attended couple of times and really enjoyed it. Awesome! Took him online and on the first day of class he tells you what to expect for the whole semester. Does not sugar coat anything, but is there for you with any/all questions. I have taken his classes throughout my time at South U. He is awesome. I got A's in most of his classes and B's in the 2 that I did not. He gives you a standard test at first, then he lets you correct it. You learn from your mistakes. The classes are like a fun game that you learn from. Nervousness of studying is gone. He'll let you go early too.

I am taking POLS 1150 online. I was afraid at first but Dr. D is extremely helpful and kind. One of the best teacher at Armstrong. He knows his stuff. Read the book submit your assignments on time and you will pass. If you have any questions, ask him. Always available.

For the online class, set aside a specific day to do the online work, D2L posts, and papers each week, or it'll all creep up on you an overwhelm you. He's very smart and likes to hear differing viewpoints. You need both textbooks.

Loved how Dr. D laid out the course. Very easy to follow and get work done ahead of time. Was super nervous about a summer course but this was a great course. Highly recommend it.

Very chill but still teaches the material really well. You have to read the textbook but it's honestly not much to read. Lectures are pretty enjoyable, he explains stuff in a really clear way and has a great sense of humor. All his slides are on D2L and all the lecture stuff is in the book so easy A if you do the work.

I loved Dr. da Cruz, he explained the material in a way that you could understand. The tests were easy and came directly from the notes. We had to write about 4 papers which came from the book that he wrote himself but they aren't hard and he doesn't have strict guidelines for the papers either.

I took Dr. da Cruz's class online this summer. He was very clear on what he expected and helped me so much with everything. He is very attentive to emails and will respond to you very quickly. Even though I took him for politics I feel that he actually helped me a lot with my writing also.

Dr. da Cruz was AMAZING. His World Politics class was one of my most favorite in my life. His discussions are very interesting and his four mini-papers, although stressful, are pretty easy. He gives very good lectures and he really expanded my knowledge about politics all over the world. He also has a nice personality and is welcome to help.

He's a really great professor. He will help you when you need help as long as you reach out to him.

Dr. DaCruz is straight forward. Read the syllabus and follow it. It is an easy A. I have signed up for an upper level course with him. Discussions are straight out of the book and lecture notes, papers are two pages and easy. One page is a summary and the second page your analysis. If you have any problems, just ask him. Responds to email fast.

No tests/exams in this class just essays to write. Don't stress about the weekly quizzes they are very simple if you read the chapter. Get those discussion posts done, or it will hurt your grade a lot.

Dr. Da Cruz is straightforward on his expectations. Syllabus is very clear. Easy quizzes and four short paper. If you do the reading and keep up with the class it is an easy A. He is very knowledgeable, smart, and knows his stuff. I am taking Homeland Security next semester after fishing my POLS 1150.

Da Cruz is a pretty chill professor. He responds very fast to emails, and if you are confused on a topic, he does well at explaining it. There are four essays through the semester, you have a month to complete each. He grades them very easy. There are quizzes and discussions each week, and they are based off of the power points. Easy A for sure.

Professor da Cruz is great & helpful. Beware though, LOTS of reading & writing. Graded on weekly discussions & quizzes, & 4 papers. Discussions require you to read a chapter (15-20 pgs) and answer 3 ?s. They take me 2-5 hours each. Quizzes are EASY. Papers are over his articles (8-15 pgs) & are in-depth. I always get 100s but very time-consuming.

Not bad at all. You basically only have to do weekly discussion posts and one quiz in addition to four paper (one per month). The papers aren't bad but you definitely have to put in some effort and set aside time to read. Overall a good course. Just do yourself a favor and start on the papers as soon as you can so you have enough time.
