Very good teacher. I have never been in a class that I had to do this much work but I actually learn from it more than in any other class. His lectures are the best and makes the class super interesting.

This man is a real character. He is easily one of the most unusual professors I've ever had (in a good way). As others have mentioned, he can be extremely sarcastic, flamboyant, etc. but I've learned a lot and then some.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! I took his class at 7 am and even though it was extremely early, I did not mind at all. His test are oral so YOU MUST STUDY! but the questions are always the same so it is not that hard to pass. You do NOT have to buy the book, he actually tells you to return it. one of the most hilarious professors i've ever had. GO NOLES!

Took this class online it was kind of hard. He was very helpful and it was fun to actually visit a museum. Some of the answers to the test you can google and find a pdf with the majority of the questions/answers.

This is undoubtedly an awesome teacher. He's always in a good mood, and his enthusiasm is just contagious! He is a very literate person and actually knows what he is talking about. The way he sparks discussion is very funny. He will pick on you, or make jokes, so be prepared for it, he won't do it in a mean way though. TAKE HIM!!!

This professor is something different! He will pick on you A LOT! He knows his stuff! Yes, a lot of work but believe it is 100% worth it. Really good teacher. He really knows how to teach his class. His assignments are pretty easy.There's is only two things I didn't like about him, his oral exams and his attitude sometimes. This professor is brilliant at what he teaches you will be amazed. I fell in love with art and music all over again. I'm an english major so I love writing but if you don't then I would reconsider. Donis requires lots of written work. You do not need the book. There is a total of 31 assignments, 3 oral exams, and 1 research paper.

Professor Donis really made my Humanities class very interesting and was well worth waking up at 5am in the morning and looking forward to his entertaining and clear lecture. But do not make a mistake that since he's funny and jokes about something during his lectures his class is easy. WRONG! His class is very much in a college level.

Amazing professor! He has a great sense of humor which helped me learn and generally look forward to class. The course work is rigorous but it's college so that is to be expected! That being said, he is very understanding and tries to help those who try. Best advice I can give is to do all the assignments and if he gives extra credit: DO IT!

He is so strict, but very clear and intelligent. He explains as many times as you need, and whatever he says it is going to be tested, it's exactly what you get. There is no way to go to his exams without studying. There are many researchs homeworks, but extremely interesting. You could feel frustrated, however don't give up.

If you are a high school student I recommend this class, you will learn a lot, but if you are an adult working full time I don't recommend it. and works full-time He is super sarcastic, but once you know him you starting to not care and laugh of his comments.

I took him my first year of college, you didn't have to show up to class. Not a lot of work but when he does give you work he expects it to be perfect. I had a blast in his class, the lectures said everything you need for the exams (verbal exams) and if you didn't attend class there is a study guide always posted with the lectures as well.

I am currently attending his class for dual enrollment and I have nothing negative to say. He understands that a class from 5:40 to 8:10 is too long to conduct in one sitting. He is hilarious and makes sure to check in on his students whether it be to see if they are paying attention or if they are understanding. Truly an outstanding teacher!

The tests are oral but don't be scared because if you simply memorize the material it will be super easy. He gives an exact study guide of what the test will be on. Alright everyone, whoever has to take HUM1020 at miami-dade take this professor. He is the funniest professor I've ever had. I have him for an 8:00 am class and not once have I gotten bored or sleepy. Excellent teacher. The assignments are easy. Hardest part would be oral test which is just memorizing certain information (requires actual study).

Easy class and funny professor but sometimes he can be annoying. EASY A! Quiz in the beginning of class which he tells you. Oral exams is just memorization everyone literally passes and the analysis and research are easy but a pain. Oh and you cant use your phones.

Professor Donis is extremely funny and makes his class entertaining but educational at once. Although he's strict on people following his instructions for the homework, the work is extremely easy and his exams are based on pure memorization. I passed his class with flying colors and just a little bit of effort.

He provides study guides which are helpful. One essay each week. Textbook helpful. One visitation assignment to a museum. Make sure to quote in essays.

Professor Donis is super hilarious and his class is very intriguing. There are four oral exams and a final where you have to memorize the titles, artists, and stylistic periods of each piece he shows you. There are also quizzes every class, but it's more of extra credit. You do research with a group and analysis of paintings by yourself. Best guy!

Professor Donis is very strict about his coursework, he'll ask you to make the work how he wants without excuses. He is a tough grader and be prepare to write two paragraphs for his discussions. Tests/quizzes are not bad, but you have to do a lot of writing. However, he will grant you an opportunity to redeem yourself and do the work how he wants.

I take all my classes online and as a full time student this class is perfect if you have a full plate. I really did learn a lot, the homework and assignments were adequate. The quizzes and tests are very easy if you study. Professor Donis is super great, I would take his class again.

Profesor Donis is by far one of the best professors u have taken. Wouldnt 100% recommend and take again. He is hilarious but also really serious about his work. You can choose the percentages you want to be graded on. He makes it easier if you are not a big test person.(like me) If you pay attention and do your work, you will pass.

If you ever take college classes, for Humanities classes you may choose Professor Donis. I loved her classes, she always helps and is aware of her students. Donis is one of the best inspirational teachers there is. He does give a lot of work do- mainly the Oral Examinations which make you test your memorization skills and Online Assignments. Attendance is required but he's not too picky about tardiness. He touches most of the periods of humanity but he does so in an organize way. Can you handle it?

His a bit of a tough grader, do all his work and you will do well. He will let you know at the beginning what is needed to succeed. He has a very a bit of a high sense of humor. You will have quizzes in evey single class, so def be prepared. Not too many questions but it does require for hw assignment to be done always for quizzes to be done.

He is very funny and makes the class very fun/interesting. Youll have to study hard for his exams but, he extends some of the deadlines for some of the assignments or gives extra credit opportunities. Overall, very good teacher!

One of the best professors Ive had at mdc. He tries his best to make the lectures fun and entertaining even online. I really learned and enjoying this class very much.

There is a lot of work when you look at everything, nut it was well spaced out. Also, I loved his lectures because he kept it interesting and funny. We had to complete exams, research, and analysis. Every class he made us take an exam, but as long as you saw his lecture and did the research it was pretty easy.

Taking into consideration this was a full course packed into 6 weeks, its understandable the work load. It was a test, analysis, and research paper almost every day. The work is easy at first but gets harder. As long as you follow what he says to a T you should be good. He makes the lectures interesting and tries to engage with his students.

Jose Donis is a good Professor. He will provide you with all the material you need to do well on the homework and tests. The amount of lectures and homework is really excessive and he is a tough grader. If youre hoping that Humanities is going to be an easy class then do not pick this Professor. If youre willing to learn, then pick him.

He is a little bit annoying when it comes to the sources in discussion boards which are weekly but when you get the hang of it theres no problem. Quizzes are also weekly but really easy. Theres a proctor midterm but is not hard and a museum visitation paper which is not difficult.

As long as you don't procrastinate the work, then you'll be completely fine! He gives you 1 chapter of assignments a week which is due the next time he assigns a chapter. If you know how to use blackboard, then accessing his page is very easy and you won't need to email him at all if you just read the directions properly. 10/10 class.

Alright i am gonna be honest so you can trust my words. I took him for my fall 2020 semester. He is an amazing professor, he legit knows what he talks about. Donis is a great professor, however, if you don't want to do a lot of work and do study guides almost every week, don't take his class. The class seemed extremely hard at first but after a while, it was a little fun. I learned a lot in his class and he was super quick on grading and answering emails/messages on blackboard.

I recently took this class online for my fall semester. I recommend taking the class with him. He is a great and funny person. As long as you take notes on his lectures you will pass the tests. He gives a lot of research papers and art analysis's but they're easy.

As a STEM major, humanities was the last thing on my mind. Dr. Donis taught me how to appreciate art and music. It was an absolute delight. At the very end of the semester, we talk about planning to incorporate art or music in our professional careers - very insightful. More than a fun class, it is one that you sticks with you after college.

I aim to give you a proper review, as he is one of my favorite professors. You WILL have to study art styles and concepts for this class, and you will have multiple assignments pertaining to art. That being said, his tests are no joke, you will have to study to pass this humanities class. He's a solid person and caring, but you have to work for it.

One of the best but toughest classes ive ever taken at Miami Dade, but still easily my favorite. His lectures are the best and he really puts his all into making sure you understand the material. Hes hilarious and a true character. Very tough grader. Make sure you do EXACTLY what is told for the homework.

Absolutely my favorite professor ever. His class isnt the easiest but he makes it really entertaining and fun. You will learn alot in this class. As long as you write down notes you will pass with an A. He tells you exactly what will be on the test and he records his lectures so you can always access them whenever youd like.

This was my first class in MDC as a Dual Enrollment student and I was intimidated at first but he doesn't even make you participate in class, I never even turned on my camera. Assignments are fairly simple if you watch the lectures he emails he a week before the next class. (1-3 hour long lectures) Analysis are easy and tests are simple but timed.

Where should I start?! Professor D was hilarious from the get, but serious at the same time. You will work in this class, from in class assignments to analysis works, but if you *PAY ATTENTION* and *TAKE NOTES* of the lecture videos you will pass. They're very fun, informative, and engaging. The professor is a legend and an expert in the subject. If you really want to pass the class, be ready to put in some effort. Professor Donis was by far the best professor I had for my last semester at MDC for remote learning. Classes are mandatory unless there is an emergency. If you want an easy A then this is not the teacher for you. If you're willing to work, you will pass. You work the whole class but questions are repetitive. He is hilarious a great teacher! This guy knows his stuff, is a little manic, but if you pay attention and take interest in the subject, it's not difficult. He manages to have fun and make things entertaining & informative at the same time. He gives some leeway for things as long as you aren't egregiously taking advantage, and is a rare one that wants you to love the material too.

Would definitely take this professor again. He made class interesting and fun and often cracked jokes. All the material on the tests is in the lecture and he specifies what is needed. This class is the easiest! You should take it and don't listen to negative people, they didn't do what he told them to do, he made it clear. It's an easy class. There are one Discussions, Connect, Packback, Quizzes, one essay, and there's a proctored midterm but no final. Just put in the effort, and you'll be fine.

I enjoyed this class a lot! Professor Donis was respectful and the class was very informative. I really enjoyed reading the things that was found in the book. The assignments were also super easy and we didn't have a lot of them! Only two quizzes, a packback assignment (which is basically a discussion assignment) and an essay.

I took HUM1020 in the Spring 2024 term. Prof. Donis did not really communicate with us as it was through Canvas but he responds quickly if you email him and he does help you with whatever you need. The course was pretty easy as its only 5 assignments weekly for 15 weeks.

Professor Donis is willing to work with you but you have to do the work! He has a daily activity everyday so attendance is important. Make sure to take organized notes as this is what you will refer back to for exams. Over all I learned a lot from professor Donis

Ok listen. He is a very good professor and if you try there's no way why you should fail this class. His class consist of about weekly or biweekly assignments with 3 art works analyzing them. Then about 3 tests in which you need to memorize the name of artworks and their authors. If you have a good memory and study which is not hard, you will pass.

He's an amazing at teacher i promise you, super funny and entertaining, some people say that he says out of pocket things sometimes, but lets be honest this generation is hypersensitive and takes everything to heart. Some assignments can be tedious & some week's video lectures can be hours long, but it can all be done as long as you keep up. Quizzes & exams are taken in his office.
