Jose Rocks!!
Incredible teacher! I took all of my math classes with Jose, because he is so clear and makes everything much easier to understand. Cares alot about his students, always there for people, has even come in on days off to help people. I would recommend him for people who usually have trouble with math classes.
Jose is awesome. I took him in the summer and got an A. I usually have trouble with math but Jose took time outside of class to tutor anyone who needed help. By far one of the best teachers I've had at Wright.
very wonderful teacher. helpful and understanding. makes sure everyone is on the same page and doesn't move on until everyone understands.
I had Jose for Math 99 my first semester at Wright. He was very helpful and clear about everything. I think the best part of how he teaches, is how he goes step by step through everything until everyone undertands it. He made it very easy for everyone.
Wonderful math teacher! very helpful and makes you think a lot. Very student orientated and is always willing to help with anything. So far my favorite teacher at wright.
HE JOKES A LOT..keeps the class with attention,, breaks are short though, ..i like him
Great teacher! He knows what he's talking about! Nice guy and will do whatever he can to help his students pass. I recommend him 100%
Horrible teacher, he tries to re-teach you the basic adding and subtracting laws with a different method. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone
I needed a Gen. math class and Hernandez was recommened to me. I had a great time in his class. He is a very good teacher who knows what he is teaching. He can explain things a million different ways if needed. I definitely recommend him for anyone who needs math!!
I took him and had to drop he covers the easy chapters first so everyone passes by midterm, he makes up his own tests which are very tricky I do not recommend him. He likes students who go to his office all the time to ask him questions I signed up for the class again w/ a different instructor and I just finished the class was crystal clear.
Best professor at Wright by far. He really knows how to teach you the math so it is clear to understand. He also goes out of his way to help you if you are having difficulties. Also a good college advisor. Totally recommended.
I took him during the summer. He is a great teacher and he explains a lot.
Hmm just take the notes that he gives in class. you really have to do the homework because it will help you on the test when the lessons are done.
Great mathematics professor. Good clarity lectures with down to Earth teaching style, and very helpful during office hours.
Great teacher of the subject makes it seem easy and always willing to help
I had a great time in Jose's class. If you have a question about the work, you shouldn't hesitate to ask for clarification, because Jose goes out of his way to make sure you understand the lesson. Highly recommended!
He is truly one of a kind. You can go ask for help and he is dere. he may look like he is a rush but thats what makes his class less boring. Very LIVELY and his love for comics is adorable =) The fact that he draws them too is AWESOME!
Jose is a great professor. He keeps it interesting and fun. He does everything possible for success. I would HIGHLY recommend taking any of his courses.
Good Teacher. He knows how to explain many other subjects besides math. He doesn't let you use the calculator but he shows you how to figured it out on your own. He is a great guy to talk to after class but don't listen to his advise on teachers he is bad at picking them. But he does help with other things.
Great teacher. Didnt have any issue with him. As long as you show up to class to learn material it should be an easy semester, Jose makes it easy as well as fun to learn stats, take him and you wont regret it.
Worst teacher ever, harsh grading, does not give you any chances to boost up grade if failing. do not take him!!! I have taken calculus 1 and 2 easy a. this guy lucky enough to get a C. Takes points away from quizzes for nothing!!!
One of the best teachers. You definitely will learn a lot from him. Makes time from his schedule to have additional study groups to help his classes out. Makes class funny and breaks down material to make sure you understand it.
Funny, debonair, an extremely competent teacher. Went out of his way to make sure I understood the material. Kept the class interesting and didn't have any pretenses about who he was. Very down-to-earth and entertaining. I would highly recommend him to anyone vaguely interested in the subject of statistics.
I slacked off for the majority of the semester but then when i saw my midterm grade i freaked and Jose really worked with me to ensure that i understood the material and i was able to pass the class. Very Helpful, Knowledgeable, and Energetic
Awesome!! He will go out of his way to help. Review sessions every weekend. Try not miss class... He goes over new material.
He is an Amazing teacher, He gives you plenty of time to make up work, do practice quizes and tests online to gain EC. He has study sessions all week! You just have to attend! He pretty much gives his students control over their own grade! LOVED HIM! wish I took it serious sooner. However, I still passed bc of HIM! He is GREAT!
Good teacher if you show up to class. Insists on being called Jose because "Mr. Hernandez is my father." Makes the work understandable.
One of the best teachers I ever had. Really helpful. Class is not easy but he makes much easier with a lot of examples. I admire his dedication and his extra time he gives to his students. He is GREAT.
He is one of the best professor I ever had!!!! If you are really interested in statistics take his class
He is awesome!!!! Best teacher ever!!!!!
One of the best teachers I have had.
Great teacher. He makes everything crystal clear. Alothough attendance is not mandatory, it is highly reocmmended because if not you will fall behind. Do the practice problems and you should do well.
Awesome teacher, Straight to the point. Can be difficult if you don't pay attention in his class. Very funny too at some points, would make the class laugh like a comedian would.
his class is hard but i guess any math class is hard. you need to put in an extra effort if you want to get a c or above. overall he is a good teacher
He is an amazing teacher. He goes out his way to help you out. He comes to school on the weekends if you really need it. I went to all his math review sessions on the weekend and it paid off. AMAZING teacher
You get out what you put in. Do all the homework and you should be fine. He is available to students and this is good and bad. If a lot of people are waiting for help, you will have less time with him. Tutoring for 118 is scarce. I missed the next letter grade up by a point and a half, every point counts. He is a good teacher and tries to help.
Really great teacher, crystal clear if it comes to lecture. Gives you homework from book. It's not graded but 95% of his tests are pulled out from his homework and handouts. He does Sat reviews to help students understand the material. Also very nice, fashionably late 5min. Took him during summer semester, got an A. So it's possible if you try.
Awesome teacher teaches you problems step by step and helps you hoe to get answers to problems i have to say he is the BEST math teacher i have ever taken!!!!!!!
Easiest class in the world. All the homework is all the quizzes and tests. take him during the summer! shorter chapters!
This class requires you to be in class every day. Professor Hernandez gives very detailed notes and encourages you to ask questions during class. He is a very resourceful person when it comes to his availability and explanations. We did not use the book much, but only for select problems. Most of the examples he provides in class.
Do the homework even though he does not check it, It helps you and the questions in the quizzes/exams come from the HW. If you miss class you miss lots of info so don't. Very helpful teacher answers all questions and comes in on the weekend to help you if you need it.
Jose is great. He helps you out so much that it's totally your fault if you fail. Gives you as much points as possible. He also comes on the weekends for reviews. Really nice guy that's ready to help anytime.
Jose is a really good teacher but I hated the way he graded. Knocks off points for everything which can be a good or bad thing. Anyways I passed his class but not with the grade I wanted.
Stats isn't the easiest subject, but Hernandez did a great job explaining the material. He offers to meet students for study sessions on the weekends. He answers students questions and tries to get everyone to understand what he's trying to say. Homework wasn't mandatory, so I never did it, but if I did, I probably would've gotten the A i wanted.
Definitely recommend Jose I enjoyed coming to class. Hes a great teacher who does the best he can to make sure you understand, even has weekend reviews. You can get easily an A if you work for it. Do the HW even tho its not mandatory b/c thats what the quizzes & tests are. Easy stuff if you study. LOTS of EC. Got the A i needed. Thanks Jose u rock!
he decent. you need to really study hard to pass the class. exam questions are tricky.
I love love love Jose! He is such a fantastic teacher. He really helps you to make sure you understand everything. He is pretty funny as well, which helps when you're getting frustrated with all the math! He really loves to see his students succeed, and I am going to take him next semester as well! Math was my worst subject and now I understand it
Very good at explaining everything you need to know. Just make sure you ask for the help YOU need
Jose is a great teacher!! He is very fair and gives tons of opportunity for extra credit . I really struggled with math but he made sure you understood especially if you told him you did not. Would defiantly take again for math
Real good teach
never aging would i take class with him
he takes a lot of points from the test if you don't explain or show your work
Jose is a very helpful professor as long as one is willing to work for it and do hisher side of the job aka homework and preparation for the quizes and tests! He also has a good sense of humor which helps a lot during his lectures.
He is a very hard grader because he takes so many points off from tests and quizzes and mostly based from the homework. The homework in general takes hours to finish so you might need to go part time for his class. If your not a math major or suck at math don't take him you will end up dropping like some people.
Jose is a really cool teacher and there to help you whenever, even on the weekends he has sessions if you need extra help. His quizzes are based literally on the homework(even though he doesn't make you do it) , if you don't do it you won't know it. Class goes by fast but lot of info is learned. Tries his best to make you understand the material.
Gives out a lot points for extra credit to help you pass. Very good teacher .. over all very clear on the subject.. would take a math class again with him..
Jose is a very nice guy and is a good overall teacher. I had a lot of trouble in his class because it was simply just too hard. His tests will make you work beyond your belief. He does give extra credit, so make sure to get free points as you will see you will need them. Good teacher, just really hard and his tests are extremely difficult.
Great teacher, Extremely helpful and really dedicates time for his students! Easy to understand material!
Awesome teacher! His quizzes are literally based off the questions from the text book. If you get all the questions from the text book that were assigned you should do fine in the exams. He is extremely picky with his rounding rules. Over all funny sarcastic guy, definitely wasn't bored in his class.
his class requires a lot of studying. His exams are questions he makes up so he does try to trick you on some questions. He chooses the hardest chapters from the book. If your taking him in the summer be ready to move in a fast pace. He gives you a quiz and a test literally the day after that. However, he is funny but doesn't make the class easy.
The quizzes and exams are based on the homework so you must do the homework. The quizzes and exams I thought were a bit tricky. The probability quizzes and exam is where most students did not do well on. If you do not understand something, see the teacher. He will be available if anyone needs help. Do not fall behind or you will just struggle.
Funny and cool teacher. Would recommend
Jose is an awesome teacher. He explains the material during class where it actually makes sense. You def need the book but if you don't want to waste money on it you can check it out in school library or you can use an onlinebook I found of the 7th ed. Since I can't input any URLs google, bmalone weebly statistics book, it's the 2nd pdf link.
Very thorough and easy-going teacher. Ask questions if you don't understand him, he even offers out of class study sessions. Definitely Would take again.
Math is not my subject. He was a really great professor. The only math course I've ever taken that I didn't totally hate. He will also help you outside of class.
He is great and awesome!!!!!
The best professor period! Not only does he explain everything but he makes it easier for you to get it. He offers study sessions during the weekend as long as people want to show up. Make sure to ask questions he will always help you. The reviews on here say he is tough but as long as you go to class, pay attention, and take notes. you will pass!!!
Great teacher. Knows the subject really well and how to teach it in a very simple way. Can't miss class bc everything is so closely related. Tough grader, but if you just follow his directions you'll be fine.
I took my Statistics class with Mr. Hernandez and I have only good things to speak about him. He is a very good professor and he makes things easy to comprehend. Almost all Saturdays he would come in to school when he didn't have to, to tutor those of us who needed help. I will definitely recommend him! Great caring teacher
I took Math 118 over the summer. Jose is a great teacher and I enjoyed the class . As long as you pay attention and do your work you can pass. The subjects aren't the easiest but you will do fine if you study everyday.
The best math professor I ever had ! Definitely would take again ! He's nice and hilarious. He takes time to explain and answers all questions. He gives extra credits on every quiz and test. He does review sessions almost every weekend, so if you have any struggles, he's there to help you.
Very good understanding of the subject, his way of explaining is clear and concise. Do not get too comfortable just because the six weeks are easy. Homework is optional and he appears to be lenient about attendance. But DO NOT skip his lectures.
Jose is a great professor. He does outside study groups almost every Saturday for FREE. He knows how to teach unlike most other Math 125 Professors I hear from Wright. Only professor you should take for Math 125/118 is either Jose or ChrisT. Homework was not for a grade which was hard for me to pass but I passed barely on a thread. Thanks Jose!
LOVED this prof! He definitely knows how to teach the material. Do the homework and aim for the extra credit on the quizzes, because those points can really help you in the long run. Look for the book for free online before buying it. Wish I took him for math118.
Professor Hernandez was an exceptional teacher. He sought to help his students understand math by giving the students independence to do homework, giving consise lectures, and opening up his own time in the weekend for review sessions. This teacher was very helpful, took the fear and anxiety out of math and instead made students feel comfortable.
This class was a true challenge, don't get me wrong he is an amazing teacher and loves teaching but he is a super hard grader. Expects you to be a pro basically at stats and not everyones strength is math. I dropped his class because it was way to stressful and also requires a whole day of studying that i didn't have. If your good take him.
If you are good at math and have time to study the chapter sections then take him. But be careful for his rounding rules, they cost me the grade I wanted.. also get help from the tutoring lab. I would take Chris Toni, he makes math so fun and he isnt a tough grader at all.
Jose is a good teacher, his teaching style makes Math fun. His rounding rules are very strict so make sure you round right! The quizes are litterly the homework, do the homework and you'll easily get a 10/10. Extra credit is offered on every test and quiz so thats a plus!
He is a great teacher. you have to do the HW although it isn't collected but its great way to study. His grading is based off quizzes and tests but if you study you'll do fine. Memorize his rounding rules! he does offer some extra credit.
Jose teaches you everything you need to know, but you need to do your homework and ask questions if you have lost. He isn't hard, you just need to study. If you like to skip school, do not take this class. Attend every class, do your homework, and pay attention in class.
I will talk about my experience with him. After we finished classes, I asked him to give me a recommendation letter for the University. He said that we would give me. He never did. I had to write few emails to remind him that I have a due date. Now I have to find someone in short notice to do that! He is unprofessional and he does not keep his word
I loved this professor! All you have to do is show up, pay attention, take notes and study! He's not asking for much ;). I would definitely take one of his classes again. Rent the textbook and make sure you do the practice questions he is suggesting because they are similar to what will be on the exams.
Nice & funny & does offer extra credit but he's often late to class, doesn't ever check emails & is extremely difficult to get into contact with. He does do extra & tutoring sessions on weekends but he's not the most hands on. He mentioned having personal issues this year, which Im understanding of but no excuse to be Inaccessible to students
Total of 8 quizzes, 4 tests, 1 Final Exam and homework that was done online. Usually there's 1 extra credit question on each quiz/test. It's definitely a hard class and you really do have to study, but Jose is pretty nice and funny. And he lets you retake a test at the end of the semester. The last two quizzes and last test, he lets you use notes
Jose is a great teacher, he is very funny and is willing to help you when you are stuggling. He even does Saturdar study sessions for tests. All you have to do is go to class, pay attention, do the homework and study for quizzes and tests! Your grade is only tests and quizzes so you better study for those! Overall, GREAT PROFESSOR!
I, suck at math. It's been a struggle since they started adding the alphabet to equations. But, Jose's a good math professor man. He uses layman's terms so you can clearly understand the content, and shows you every. single. step. Huge for my slow math people. Grades quizzes perfectly and always gives GOOD feedback.
His lectures are very clear and easy to follow. He's also super funny. The coursework is very straightforward so as long as you do the work you'll be fine. The quizzes come from the homework so even though he doesn't collect the homework it pays off to do it. Highly recommend.
I took this professor when we were forced to move online because of covid-19. He was alright in person before but as soon as we made the change online it became horrible. Hes a hard grader and his test formats were simply awful in an online format. I went from a solid grade all the way into a D. If not for ano credit option I would be furious.
Love love love! I have nothing negative to say about Jose. He's literally the most down to earth professor you'll ever have. He makes math enjoyable and is absolutely hilarious. Take him!!
The homework is similar to the test questions. He did study groups on Saturdays for test reviews and helps you with any math problems you're having during office hours. I think his teaching style wasn't clicking for me but later took another professor and passed. He takes the time to ensure that his students understand the subject taught.
He is the best. He makes us laugh when teaching pretty fun professor. His teaching method is really good. I would take it again. Homework helps as a study guide when there is gonna be a quiz.
I took STATS-125 as an online course and this was by far the most difficult class I had. He only grades quizzes and exams. He also teaches fast but he makes a lot of study sessions outside class. You have to study a lot, pay attention, and do the homework if you want to pass. I would not recommend this professor/course if you get distracted easily.
All in all, Jose was a good professor. Even though we were an online course, he tried to do everything he could to teach us and make us understand the material and constantly give examples for us to learn it and know how to use the equations. The review session and the homework he gives us is important to do because it's a huge help for exams.
I took his Math 125 course for this fall semester 2020, hes nice and chill and is clear about his syllabus, his grading system is whats worse. Participation doesnt matter, neither does turning in any homework, He ONLY grades quizzes and test, so if you dont pay attention in class or study on your own time you will fail.
I took his Statistics class for the Fall 2020 semester and I was a little worried since we were going to do remote learning. His lectures definitely helped a lot and being present allowed me to ask questions any time I wasn't sure of the concept he was teaching. He is a very patient professor and throws humor into his lectures. Take his class!
If Math is a hard subject for you, it's definitely going to be harder online. I just wouldn't recommend him. Nice guy but the tests and quizzes are ughhhh. Doesn't check if you do homework so your whole grade is based off tests. Good luck.
He's a good teacher but sometimes he's just too much ughhh!
Professor explained everything really well and made sure everyone understands the concepts before moving onto the next subject. Quizzes and tests were done on a regular basis which helped and questions were usually from the homework problems assigned to us.
If math is not your subject, this professor isnt for you. Gives a lot of quizzes and tests which are very hard that make up your entire grade but does give you about 2 hours to complete tests. Hes really nice and funny though but if youre not good at math, find another Professor.
The quizzes are based on homework, but he doesn't grade the HW so no points for you. Also no multiply choice on any of the test or quizzes. He rushes through everything or goes off topic. Doesn't answer emails at all. The test are even more difficult, if your not great at math don't that this Professors class!!!
This Professor is the worst Ive ever had, rushes through the material and expects you to understand it in one day. So many quizzes and texts that can cost u your grade. Asked you to do the homework but doesnt give you credit for it. Just dont take this class if your already bad at math.
If math isnt your subject, dont take his class. Super nice and sweet but in terms of his teaching style, youre only graded on tests and quizzes only. Overwhelming amount of lectures and content but cool guy.
You learn a lot just by listening to the lectures and everything is very well paced, despite the amount of content covered. I think that most people will apperciate the laid back feel of the class. Homework is not graded and is assigned just to help you with the tests and quizzes.
Professor Jose Hernandez was an awesome professor. I have always been terrible at math, to the point my friend had to take my placement exam to put me into Math 118 lol. The class has 5 exams and 8 quizzes and a writing assignment which covers 4 math topics. Attend every class, order the book, watch the zoom recorded videos and visit tutoring.
Jose is a great math professor. His lectures are clear and he does not mind answering questions. Attend class to do best on assignments. He is active and patient in office hours and email. I enjoyed having him as a math professor everything is laid out for you in terms of grades and expectations. He gives many resources and practice also.
Jose was kind and willing to help if you needed extra practice. He provided extra resources and held review zoom sessions on the weekend before we had an exam. He also offers a retake day at the end of the semester where you can retake any one exam and he took the time to help me calculate how many points I needed to be able to pass his class. :)
