This is the kind of professor that love teaching using real life examples. Knows his subject very well. I love his class because he writes all the notes on the board. Very concerned of every one performance. Excellent person.

This professor is truely a professional who knows what hes talking about and is very helpful and insightful. He made economics the most interesting subject and he's just so down to earth and fun. He's an inspiration I recommend him 100%! DONT SLACK THOUGH

He makes economics a very interesting subject even for those who takes this class as a requirement. He has a lot of experience in this subject and teaches his classes thought real life examples. His tests are not easy, but if you do the online quizzes and you don't miss classes, you shouldn't have problems to pass with a good grade.I recommend him

I know a lot of people who said this prof is hard/difficult. I can honestly say that this man is one of my all time prof! He knows what he's talking about, teaches everything crystal clear AND is always willing to help. I learned more from him than any other ECO teacher I've had. I HIGHLY recomend! Best Economics Professor I have ever had!The class is hard, i am not going to lie and you are going to have to work for that A but you will learn a lot and Understand the subject perfectly. His test are more about understanding the subject then memorizing and be ready to work with lots of graphs.

Only 2 or 3 students gets ?A? on his class. So, he will perfect to lower your GPA; believe me; I regret not having followed my instinct and listened to the advice of other students. Good luck? Oh! Before I forget, he talks a lot about his children and that he always make good financial decisions.

One of the best teachers in Miami Dade. His tests are reasonably hard, but you learn a great deal. After all, I assume everyone goes to school to mainly learn (though I care about grades). If you want the easy A, don't take him, but if you want to learn, he's the best there is.

He?s an amazing teacher and very helpful. The lectures are fantastic. The material is not easy, but he explains a lot and actually writes stuff on the board. I did well because I read the textbook and studied the class notes. The professor is very knowledgeable about econ and it shows in class. If you wanna learn econ take his class. GREAT!

Good teacher. Very enthusiastic, you don't need coffee if your going to his class. He does a good job explaining things. He is tough but fair. He says he doesn't grade on a curve, but he does if people are doing bad. YOU HAVE TO STUDY! I failed because I didn't study. I actually felt bad for failing and apologised to him. You will learn a lot.

i learned lots in this class. thought it was going to be really hard, but it was ok. take good notes, read the book, and do study guide questions. the teacher gives detailed lectures and has lots of energy. i wish more profs were like this one. if you do your work you should get at least a B. take this class if you want to learn.

prof. calleja is the best! he know his stuff. learned alot in his class. Macro seems hard, but his explanations are clear. pay attention, take notes and read book. I got a low C on first test and got a final grade of B. :) make sure to do the work in the Course Tutor. its good practice for the tests. class and prof are great. highly recommend!!!

Took class Fall of 2011. Material is tough and his tests are as well. Explains and illustrates material well. Wastes time on on liberal politics . If you feel uncomfortable with leftist or separating politics from class Don't Take! Fair on attendance and on curving to an extent. You could find an easier proff, but it may not be as interesting.

I would recommend to NOT take the class if you have not taken ECO 2013, take ECO 2013 first and the first two tests that you do in his class would be pieces of cake believe me. He is really cool, but sometimes he start talking about random personal stuff. Very helpful and nice. Would recommend him. Use the Course Tutor, it's really helpful!

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! I really enjoyed taking the class with him! He makes it interesting and easy to understand! Only 4 test and 3 really easy papers!

My criticism is that he goes way off topic too often, doesn't give you a test score than you can drop, and he tends to obsess about the stories of his personal life sometimes. Also, he could be clearer about what's gonna be on the test. Some material on the test I did NOT recognize from the lesson in class. He does slightly curve every test though.

Very helpful, especially if you want to study economics. He gives you good tips on which courses to take for the major and is passionate about his subject, and tests are tricky, but very manageable if you do the exercises in the Course Tutor.

I found that I could have finished with an A if I would have studied more, for real, the content is not hard to understand, you just have to study and go to every single class and take notes. He is as Democrat as it could get, so be prepared for his dissertations on Obama's financial policies, no joke. He is a good professor, nice personality.

HE IS NOT AN EASY PROFESSOR AND IT IS NOT AN EASY CLASS! We had 3 written assignments which are mandatory, and 4 to 5 tests, his tests are tricky and hard, you need to study! However, he does allow you to bring one index card front and back. I dont like economics so it was tough for me but If you like the subject you'll be fine. BUT STUDY!!!

Calleja is an awesome prof! His lectures are very clear and easy to understand. He is very helpful and approachable. He makes economics very interesting and you're always awake. I took a macro course in the spring semester and I did not like it. This class was great. You have to work to get a good grade. I would definitely recommend him.

one of my friends recommended this teacher and he was right. he's a great teacher. explains everything in detail in class and keeps you awake. can be a little intense at times but he really cares about the students. need to read the text and study for tests, but they are fair. i've had many teachers at MDC but none like this one. the best.

A teacher who's very straight forward but also passionate towards what he teaches. It's easy for him to go off-topic from the lesson at times, but in the end he gets his point across in order for you to understand the material. Rarely ever gives a boring lecture. Definitely taking his class for macroeconomics in my next semester.

Prof Lopez is great. His classes are interesting and easy to understand. This Prof teaches the entire class and makes it enjoyable. Tests can be challenging but are pretty fair if you study your notes and read the book. He can be serious and funny at the same time. I loved taking this class even though Im not am econ major. Class topics and lectures are interesting. You learn so much about the economics. Go to class and take notes. This was one of my favorite classes at MDC. He gives four exams, weekly quizzes and three writing assignments. Work is required but theres plenty of grading opportunities.:)

This is the best econ class ever! I recommend him to anyone who has a hard time with econ or stats because he explains it in a way you can understand. He gives amazing lectures that apply to the real world and cares a lot about his students. Amazing! I finally understand economics.

This was my second time taking this professor (for two different courses) and I would take him a third time if I could get the chance. His lectures are entertaining and captures your attention, he gives curves and grades more than fairly. Best professor I have taken at Miami Dade!

There were 4 exams. A 5th exam ,to replace a low grade. The 4th and 5th exam were given the same day. The 5th exam was accumulative. You have to study real hard for the exams. The last chapters , I felt were rush due to time. A normal Bstudent usually will get a C in this class. This class is very time consuming.

This class was great. Lectures are interesting and he explains everything in detail. Gives lots of real world applications. Lots of exams and quizzes and class participation counts. You have to go to class and read the book. Exams are challenging but fair and he gave curves on three of them. I loved this class!

Prof Calleja is an incredible teacher and a wonderful person. He advised me and helped me choose the classes I needed to transfer to UF. He is the best econ teacher and mentor Ive had at MDC. His lectures are amazing, he gives lots of tests and quizzes and is passionate about econ. I will miss him and his class. So sad.

For some of us that are not really Math enthusiast, statistics is challenging. The professor breaks down the chapters and homework in cheawable and digestible content. A fair grader!

I take most of my courses online due to my work schedule and he's the most responsive and flexible prof I've had for an online course. He made me work for my grade. Great class!

I've taken a couple of Prof. Lopez's classes and enjoyed them. Very knowledgeable in economics and explains well. The class slides are well organized and assignments and quizzes are clearly laid out. They key is keeping up with the weekly assignments. Exams can be challenging but he's fair. I enjoyed the class and most of my classmates passed.

Lopez knows his stuff. I learned alot in this class. His lectures are very interesting and he gives you plenty of information so you can connect the dots. Test can be challenging but if you prepare you'll be ok because he does curve. He really made me think & reflect - I can actually read economics articles from WSJ and NYT and understand them.

Lopez is an excellent teacher and lectures are interesting. He explains so a history major like me can understand it. The homework is open book and he gives plenty of time to complete it. He has extended the due dates a few times to accommodate the class. Students can bring a note card to each exam. One of the best classes at MDC. Really nice

Lectures are real interesting and they cover lots of current events. Unlike my micro class, which I took with a boring prof, his class is lively and stimulating. I love this class!!

Prof. Calleja is how all econ profs should be. He's knowledgeable, fair and very nice to students. He is opinionated and passionate about econ, but if you want to learn this is the best class. His lectures are interesting and easy to understand. He cuts through the nonsense and focuses on the important stuff. His tests are fair, and he curves.

Excellent instructor. Be ready to read and do weekly hw. His exams are about 40-50 question multiple choice tests. Tests are fair, and he allows you to bring a formula sheet. His lectures are amazing, and he makes econ understandable. Highly recommend taking his course.

Business statistics is difficult online, but his course is well organized and easy to follow. Exams can be challenging but he curves the exams and gives an extra credit quiz at the end. I took Lopez for QMB 2100 online and hes the best. Everything is clearly laid out and all you have to do is be on top of your weekly assignments. He responds quickly and answers all your questions. Two un-proctored exams, two proctored exams and weekly quizzes. He also gives an extra credit test and curves at the end. Great class if you work!

He is a fantastic teacher and makes the material interesting. You can tell hes passionate about his job. Always prepared for lecture and knows the material inside/out. He gets to know you by name and is very understanding. Makes you think and rethink how linkages work in economics. learned a lot. recommend 100%

If youre taking 2013, definitely take it with L-C. It was an amazing class. The lectures were clear, understandable and engaging. Hes knowledgeable and explains things in detail. The best online class Ive taken at MDC. The professor responded to my questions quickly and thoroughly. The class was organized, and he was very helpful. Gives weekly homework and quizzes, which are easy to do. Also gives practice exams, which help to prepare for midterm and final. Had to work but got an A. I would recommend this class.

Prof. Lopez's lectures really help you understand the material. What's not amazing is that stupid cengage that we use for the hw. The hw is difficult and not like the lectures. I took half of it online bc of corona. Bad thing, he never sent emails on when hw and quizzes were due. I spent so many late nights trying to finish 3 assignments w a quiz.

Very hard class. Not a lot of assignments, just one or two per week. No exams except for the proctored midterm AND proctored final. However, there was a large curve at the end so that helped a lot.

he is an od school. he doesn't grade solely on mathematical average, honestly wasn't expecting an A. Responds fast, clears mistakes, reassures student,s and judge the whole work made, not just midterm and final. I wished I took macroeconomics with him too.

Honestly, he's a tough professor, I took him as a transient and I was told this school was a breeze (no offense to anybody on this). There was a good amount of quizzes and hw and the exams are difficult. But as I sit here and take intermediate micro at my school, I can definitively tell you that I am better prepared than all of my friends.

Professor Lopez-Calleja was one of the few professors that really impacted me in Miami-Dade. He's very good at lecturing and isn't afraid to call anyone out. I took him online and cameras were required to be turn on. Read the textbook, do the hw, practice everyday and you'll be good. He also let us use a flashcard for formulas which was lifesaving

The material itself is difficult esp zoom. The professor was helpful, understanding, informative and knowledgeable. What you see is what you get.4 MindTap assignments per chapter, please study for exams. Please show your camera when you attend class. If you need help with something, he will be happy to help (just contact him asap and not last min)

Prof LC may be tough, but the material is worth the effort. Using unstuck ai and the free textbook made study prep a breeze. Attend class, engage with the content, and you'll be well-prepared for the exams. An excellent professor who cares about student success.

Firstly, Prof. Lopez is an economic expert; certainly, empowered with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Secondly, he shows up everyday and performs academic duties with professionalism as well as great leadership. Lastly, he created an environment that encourage growth with a splash of fun.

Tough grader but respectful. Give him a chance and be in constant communication.
