He is a very smart man but wastes too giving lectures about reality. Fustrates very easily and often yells. He does answer all email questions promptly.
He is good at teaching, however,sometimes he is moody. Recommending!
Knows the subject well, but thinks you know it too. Dont mention marks he'll eat you alive. A bit abnoxious.
Basically, if yiou get this teacher run as far as you can@ Always confuses you, explains awful, his exams are the hardest to do! It's suppose to be an easy class...

He is a nice teacher, and he explains everything clearly. He will not refuse to answer the questions. He is an easy marker.
Rather snippy, a bit of a sadistic grader, uses his own notes for the class. You might consider getting an introductory OR textbook for a second perspective when you take him.
Is an extremely intelligent man, knows his math well. However, he is a horrible teacher and person. He is extremely rude, and insulting. Do not take this teacher. His exams are extremely hard, he will never make time to meet with you to explain anything. He expects you to already know everything.
Worst Teacher on this earth. Will fail everyone in the class and never gives part marks. Be prepared to do miserably bad in this class and probably fail. Cold-hearted, and you wont learn anything in class.

He hates to hear somebody talking in his classes. However, his classes are interesting and his explanation is clear.
i like this professor,he is really a good teacher.everything is explained clearly. he is patient and likes students participating in his class. his tests are not hard actually and u have to go to the last class before final exam cz he will show u all types of questions that gonna appear on papers.
One of the hardest professors, at Concordia, in the Dept. of Mathematics. Somebody has to be the hardest, and it happens to be him. We used to call him "Killer Brody". He was kind of funny.

Review hand-outs are not particularly helpful for tests, only about 50% of what ends up on the test is presented in the review. I did not like his approach to instruction, often illogical thought process. As others mention, don't talk in class. If possible look elsewhere.
dont try and talk to him after class, except if its before the teacher evaluation has been done. after that he's a an a$#hole. but other than that, hes a good teacher, and just make sure you THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK in his class! he'll burn you otherwise
do not talk in his class, think before u speak and ull be fine. he explains things very well and his tests r very fair. just come to class and pay attention.
dont ask him anything in his class if u dont wanna b embarassed. and if have him, u should try to understand stuffs urself. 60% of the exam will be stuffs that u should know, and rest of it will b something that u should not know in this course.
He always wants to get the class involved, vocal and answering questions, but only if they are giving the correct answers! Don't bother speaking up in his class unless you are certain you've got it or he'll give you a really hard time. Very helpful during office-hours visits, assigns grades fairly, writes good exams. Overall a great teacher.

He is a very stuborn teacher. Dont bother asking him any complexe questions or anything regarding exams or homework, he will SCREAM at you for not listening (even though he never mentioned or explained any of the above). Also he uses the damn computer for showing integral calculations, but screws up on the way and wastes time. He should retire now!
The worst teacher I ever had listening to him explain things made my forget what I knew and not understand the topic anymore. He refuses to help at any time and is mean to everyone. Every question ia stupid question!

This should have been an easy class but this man has no idea how to teach. Avoid his classes if you can.
i recomend that you avoid this teacher, however if you're stuck taking him, DO NOT be discouraged with your low mid-term grade. He cannot teach if his life depended on it. STUDY OLD FINALS and you should do well.
Not the best teacher in the world. HE can be funny at times, but often goes a bit overboard and rambles on about non math related topics. His midterms are incredibly hard, luckily the final counts for 100% in this course.
To quote him..."there are no stupid questions..only stupid people"..that should about sum it up for you ...Avoid unless you are very thick skinned
This man literally scared me into studying and working hard! Do not ask questions in this class unless they are "good ones", because he will make you feel like an idiot. Pretty available for office hours, unforgiving for late assignments, by late I mean even 5 mins. is too late. If only teacher available, mildly acceptable.

Dr Brody is a bad teacher. I am a student with a 4.0/4.3 GPA and have seen many profs throughout the years. He's obnoxious, rude, and cannot explain the material well. Experiments with his silly software on students. Avoid. There are plenty of good professors out there that you can take. I recommend Prof Dryanov instead.
he teaches math like it is a language or philosophy,he doesnt know that math is all about solving.if you really that desperate and dont have any other teacher except him,u can tell me and I will teach u better than he does

THE WORST TEACHER EVER. I HAD AN A- IN CAL 1 THE PRIOR SEMESTER WITH A STUDENT TEACHER, AND I END CAL2 WITH D+ WITH THIS GUY. ALL THESE COMMENTS ARE RIGHT ON, HE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING!!! I WISH I USED THIS SITE BEFORE TAKING THAT COURSE, THANK GOD FOR TEXT BOOK (WHICH HE SAYS WAS USELESS AT THE BEGINNING OF SEMESTER). AND YOUTUBE!

Never take this course with josef brody! Worst teacher ever! Everyone is stupid and he is the only genius... NEVER TAKE 203 or 205 with him!
*AVOID!!!!*((Out of 42 students, 28 failed. 6 got D's, 2 C's, 2 B's and 2 A's.)) If you do take him, dont go to his class, he picks on students, he asks questions to the class and then yells at everyone telling them they are incompetent if they don't have the right answer. Of course I should have studied more, but he totaly made math uninteresting.

All the ppl complaining below don't realize that this course was standardized to be difficult! A fair amount of practice is necessary, and Dr. Brody is available to help you. Very good/clear one on one during office hours. In the lecture's he seems a bit snarky, but that's just his sense of humor. Work on agility as the final's a KILLER on time. GL
Best Professor I have this semester, he's extremely helpful and funny, even though he diverts from the point it's rather fun sometimes.

Dr Brody completely changed the way that I'll look at math forever. I used to hate math and thought of it as a series of steps I had to follow to arrive at an answer. Now I see the problem as a fascinating puzzle that I have to imagine and understand so that I can use my intelligence to solve. I will forever be grateful for taking this mans class.
Worst teacher I have ever had. I will say he will answer any question, but there is about a 60% chance of the explanation to be accompanied by an insult or two. He makes his notes in class and are hard to find information later. He doesn't bother using moodle to contact students just throws into the same word document over and over again.
Worst Math teacher I have ever had, that is including High School as well. When you see him 1on1, he explains problems clearly, although he is always very rude, including during lectures. He uses this Math computer program that shortcuts him to the answer instead of solving the problems on the blackboard so we see how to solve them properly.
if you enjoy being insulted, confused and bad grades i suggest you take brody, however, if you are like me, and most people...and you would love to enter a class where you understand the material clearly, the teacher is helpful and respectful and you get good grades AVOID AVOID AVOID Brody. you've been warned.
he's the worst proffessor I've ever seen. NEVER take any course with him even math 205. He made me cry just because i asked him about my mark. Don't ever try to email him, he will only insult you, and try to change your mark or ask him why he marked you like that... he will only insult you. Do Not take this guy! Spends half the class typing long tedious equations on his math software program which he projects up front. He uses the program to spit out an answer but refuses to use chalk and board to actually demonstrate the process. He makes errors in his notes posted on moodle. Long off topic rants distract from the already difficultcontent
Writes his lecture notes in class on the computer which takes time to solve and makes mistakes. Always finishes the lecture 5 minutes late. Really hard to read and understand his notes, assumes you know everything with minimal explanation. Weekly Webwork assigments are 2 weeks late compaired to his lectures and are twice as difficult.
Teacher expects too much from students in LECTURES. He will near insult you if you answer wrong and talk about philosophical speeches every now and then which breaks our focus on the calculus problems. The teacher should also use the board, not the computer to solve PROBLEMS. As a very smart student, this is the worst teacher I've ever had.

It is hard to fail, but hard to get an A too. There is a lot to know for each test and if you do not intent to study than you are screwed. A major project determines if you pass or fail. If you don't think you can do a major project and put a lot of effort and time into it then don't take this professor's psychology class.
This course it not a easy one, you need to work hard to gain the good grade rather than just complain your professor. As a teacher, he is responsible and patient. Whenever you have questions, he can help you but you must ask him! Nice one, I might consider taking Math205 with him.
He is very confusing and spends most of his time lecturing his students on irrelevant stuff that has nothing to do with math. He is funny, intelligent and probably THE best grand-father a child can EVER have. But those things really do not matter when it comes to teaching and that makes him one of the worse teacher I've had.
He's checked out. Talks about his life philosophy and fiddles with the computer for half the class. Unless you're ready to teach yourself the entire course, skip this one. It was bad enough that I formally requested to change to a different prof mid-semester.
Most people don't bother participating in class because he chastises wrong answers. He goes off topic frequently, and says that students don't know how to think and it's no wonder they have a hard time finding jobs after University. He can be insulting. He uses a LaTeX editor exclusively, and wastes a lot of time on the settings.
not nice, don't take him, better delay a semester than taking his class, I got my baby at the time of midterm, he refused to scale it to the final, he changed the grading on the outline .

The worst educator I have ever met in my entire life, I read the earlier reviews thinking I could do it despite how bad he is. Midterm came around and I had learned essentially nothing as he goes off on tangents about the government and how we dont get real learning. I should have DISC'd but didnt and paid for it, retaking the course DONT TAKE HIM
Didn't bother going to class, studied hard on my own and I passed the course. But the class average was a 1.5. If you unfortunately end have having him, just study on your own and don't waste those 2 hrs of your time on him.

Worst teacher I have ever had. If you have ANY other option, take it. If you are unlucky and chose him, study by yourself using the textbook and online resources. This is how I passed the class.
If you do love math, take him. He explains every single formula clearly and tells you how to get it. But he's too much into his self philosophy and wastes most of the time on the computer. You have to prepare the materials before class and learn the exam samples by yourself. Avoid him if you just want to pass the exam.

I took this teacher for MATH 203, but ended up regretting it. His anecdotes are interesting (in my opinion), plus you don't have to buy any book, but he doesn't explain the subject very well. I ended up having a good grade not because of him, but because i studied alone, without going to his class. If you have difficulties in math do not take him.
He wasn't very good at explaining the material, and on multiple occasions singled out students from the class to berate them, sometimes just for taking additional notes or asking a classmate for clarification.
If you want to learn math and do well, do not take him, if you want to hate math, take him.
active attendance gives you extra 5%. very weak in using the computer (on which he explains the whole course) even though he really teaches the students to UNDERSTAND math rather than memorize, he is not a good teacher.A good mathematician and a good person, but not a good teacher.
Don't do it. Brody spends a whole lot of time figuring out how his own computer program works - time you could spend learning form another professor. Also spends a lot of time berating the class for not participating.
There is no textbook as he teaches the topic his own way but his lectures and notes are riddled with mistakes that are only caught by the top tier students. Cares for his students but is extremely out of touch with the reality of education. Most of the class is either him struggling with his software or ranting about how the education system is bad
