Josef is a great prof. He has an open door policy at anytime and is very helpful. If you make the effort in his class then he will make the effort to help you succeed. He will push you to the limit but it is for your own good. Makes his own notes. Exams are well put together. Over all a great teacher. I would definitely take another class form him!
Definitely a hard class, but I bet there isn't a nurse out there that would argue that. He makes the class interesting and always bends over backwards to help the student, but only if you ask for it. He is a little intimidating, but got over that after the first midterm and saw my marks improve. when you talk to him he's really down to earth.
Definitely a harder class, attend lectures. I would recommend talking to Josef personally, very helpful.
Can't say enought good things about Dr. B. Made learning physio easy and fun. The PBL thing was pretty cool as well!
Great guy, and extremely approachable for help. Animal phys was an awesome class, would recommend!
Really cool prof and fun class. Hard but fun!
a great guy. Would take a class with him anyday!!!
Dr. B is overall a very good teacher. His tests were tricky. you CANNOT memorize the notes in his class, you must apply. Things were explained more complicated than they actually were. The textbook is a helpful tool to use. Dr. B is quick at responding to emails. The PBL are interesting but not being able to decide your groups created conflict.
Great prof. Is always there to help and push you to your best.
Dr. B has to be one of the best profs at UofR. He meets with students on weekends, evenings. Easy to get a hold of. Tries to make sure no student is left behind and will re-explain material until students get it.A real good guy.
Terrible Prof. Talks way above student's heads and complicates simple concepts. Would not recommend this class to anyone. PBL's are pointless and way too much work for the amount they are worth. Nice guy outside of class, but not a good prof.
Dr. B is a great Prof. His class is not easy, but he helps a lot. Tests are hard, but he is very good at reading your full answer and trying to give you whatever marks he can. If you do not understand something he will go over it until you understand the concept. It is not about memorizing but understanding how to apply the material. Great Class!
A hard class but wow does Dr B ever try to make you think!! Well worth it.
he puts it out there at the start. You put in the time, you will do well. Those that complained about not doing well, ask yourself how much effort you actually put into the course before blaming Dr. B
An interesting class. Much different that your standard prof, but in a very good way.
Very open professor. Gets some time to get used to, but he will push you to do your best. I didn't do well on first midterm, but going to see him personally made all the difference.
A great class, Great prof. Always with an open door policy. Helped a lot with decision to go to med school
Dr.b is rude right from the beginning. He does not care about his students, and when asked to clarify something he only makes it more confusing. Dr.B completely understands the material and does not seem to comprehend that his students are learning it for the first time.
A very good prof. Some students did not like him, but then again those were the students with an axe to grind. He said if you do your work you will do fine. I did that and received a great mark.
Very interesting class and guy. Would take another class with him any day!
Having taken the class in S'toon, it was a bit hard to follow. But I was surprised that I can call him (almost any hour!!!). Helped clear a lot of things.
What a hard class, but worth it.
would definitely take another class.
didn't like the video conference, but as a prof, one of the best. Very up front and humble. Knows his stuff. one of the only male profs though.
I would recommend, and I would take another of his classes. Super helpful (open door policy) you can go see him any time. Prepare to Learn a lot in this class because he knows his stuff!!
Uses powerpoints which he builds on. did not use the textbook for this class for him or finnlay so don't buy it. His tests were fair, but make sure to prep really good for his part on the final, some of the questions were very specific
Amazing teacher !!! So intelligent and helpful! I would take another class taught by him any day. I am taking biology with him in Saskatoon through video conferencing, he is available at all times to answer questions. Midterms are fair and revelant to choice of career. Best teacher I have ever had.
Very helpful! Teaching style encouraged the understanding of the material rather than regurgitating information on an exam. Tough content but lots of opportunities to grasp the content. (Review sessions prior to exams and open door policy!) Definitely recommend him!
Dr. B will push you and his expectancy of his students are very high. He is very approachable and outspoken. However, his exams do not follow the textbook very much. He loves using problem solving based learning for example he will draw from how would one infection cause a multiple system failure? Very interesting class, overall worth my time
Awesome class! Related it to our future nursing career, making it interesting. Always available & willing to help. Very knowledgeable!! Definitely pushes you to do your best and work hard and not just memorize information out of the textbook. Exams are extremely fair and not just all multiple choice. Would take a class from him again any day!
Typical arrogant doctor. Sure liked to talk about his research. Was hard to follow, did better if I didn't go to his lectures and just watched online so I can slow the tempo down. Glad I passed his class I guess, but never want a prof like him again
not a good class. we hear lots of stories during teaching.
This was a necessary class in our nursing program. Dr. B said it all pretty much in the first lecture. "this will be a hard class that will push you". Some students pushed back and demonstrated their immaturity, but I think I grew from this challenge. Thank you Dr. B!
Dr. B is very down to earth and will go that extra mile to help. Walk to his office and he will drop everything for You.
A really neat introductory class about the nervous system. Dr B teaches at an intro level. The textbook wasn't of much use though.
He made the class very applicable and interesting. I only wish I took it sooner.
He's okay
Dr. B is not very understanding with people who dont speak english as a first language or who have children. Very ignorant during lectures and expects you to know absolutely everything. His 'short' quizzes were 100 questions long and it is also timed. Isnt considerate about the fact that we have other classes on out work load as well. TERRIBLE PROF
A big change from Dr. Finlay (but in a great way!!!). He pushes the class to strive higher. Unfortunately some students are too lazy to appreciate that (can be seem from below comments). Having taken this course in 2014, if you work hard, you will do well. If you just sit and complain, you will fail. Pretty cut and dry to me!
Now, this professor is a real piece of work. One of the most uptight professors I've ever come across. Yes it is important to work hard and try and do well, and its great he pushes his students to try hard, and his lectures are well explained. However, timed assignments, and "my way or the high way," does not facilitate good learning.
Neurophys was a complete blast! As complicated as it is, Dr. B made it interesting, and funny. Would take the class again any day!
Only gripe I had were fellow classmates. Maybe it's because we're mostly ladies and the female profs in first semester were easy to push around. While Dr. B is neither easy to push around or female. in second semester, we had to grow up. Sadly many students didn't, even in 2nd year. From what I heard the students this year are the same. kids.
I am in a unique situation. I passed his class (barely) but now have to repeat it again. Advice to the wise. Pay attention and do well, because you will repeat this again (not if you just fail). I goofed off in first and eeked by, but never understood the material. Lesson learned, the minimum effort is not sufficient.
Pushes students to do their best! Getting my best marks. Really easy markers, you write anything, you get marks! Don't start petitions against him - he doesn't like that...
Dr. B really facilitates for success - for students who are willing to accept the rules and do the work. He is very willing to assist people with any struggles they may have. He is more than fair as a marker.. giving marks for anything you put down pertaining to what you've learned. Who else can say that of their prof?
Dr B. is great! He is tough and expects alot from his students, but he is thorough and is always there to answers questions. His exams are not difficult if you attend class and take notes. he doesn't write good notes on the powerpoint, so pay attention. He marks fair, he gives a lot of bonus questions on his exams
Helpful if you personally asked for help. other than that lectures were pointless and the workload was crazy.
Great class. Needed for Nursing. Only complaint was the moving of the passing grade to a 60 percent. But that was not Dr. B's fault. Dr. B is a great prof! Not only talks about systems but also related diseases, which makes things more interesting.
Great class if you want to learn the nervous system in much detail. Dr. B is always there to help students. I didn't realize, until taking this class, how truly complicated the nervous system was!
After having Dr. Finlay 1st semester, Dr. B was a major disappointment. His lectures are not clear, and he does not know how to simplify concepts. He teaches as though we are all experts in the material. In addition, his pompous demeanor made it very difficult to respect him, especially because he offered little to no help when you needed it.
He wants you to be afraid of him or hate him. He is a Sh*t disturber and cocky. He will only help you if it is convenient for him. He also acts like this is the only class you have all semester.
Dr. B is always there to help. Holds many review sessions. Even got help during the weekend!!. And super down to earth. One thing he mentioned at the beginning of class is that you either love him or hate him. What I found out is those that hate him are usually the immature ones failing the class. A good indicator of students to avoid in group work
Hard class but if you do the work you will pass. Not sure where the comment that he doesn't help come from below. Am in saskatoon and call him all th time for help. Only part that intimidated me was he knows his stuff and was worried he would think my questions dumb. He is NOTHING like that. Very friendly.
Dr. B knows the material very well, and is willing to help. You as the student need to take the initiative to learn. Don't expect everything to be handed to you. If you do the readings and pay attention in lecture you will do fine. He has weekly online assignments that are long and you need to be fast.
Dr. B was very tough however by the end of the semester and at the end of a LOT of hard work you have the accomplishment of completing a very challenging but interesting course. As a nursing student A and P is the base of our entire future careers. I'm happy Dr. B made this a challenge. However online assignments are pointless and a waste of time.
Literally the worst professor ever. Have no idea how he has such a high grading on here. When you email questions, he LITERALLY gives one worded answers. He gives no direction to your learning. KNOW IT ALL AND EVERY DETAIL OR YOU WILL FAIL. He is also insensitive, inappropriate and has unrealistic expectations. Worst professor I have ever had.
Great prof!!! While it is true, you either love him or hate him (he even said that in class) what I found out is those that love him are the ones that are doing well or at least putting the effort in the class. The people I know that hate him are often doing poorly in class, but because of their own fault.
Great class about the nervous system. While the class is an elective it fills up FAST!!! Dr. B gave me an exception so that I could take the class, even though it was full already. Glad I took it on sooooo many levels.
I know not his fault, but I think the class could use a lab. He even fought to keep the labs, but the faculty opted to save money. Dr. B is really there for the student and is a strong advocate to make sure you succeed. You just have to work harder though.
I think it is safe to say that animal phys is a bio fav by many students. Dr. B is very helpful and gives really cool lectures.
Love the class. Also love the challenge of it, much better than Kerri's section. Textbook helps A LOT.
Ridiculous as to how long the lectures are. But Dr. B does make them interesting. Jokes are on the lame side, but heck, he's a prof.
Animal Phys is a great class. Really put the research bug into me.
Huge disappointment. Lectures are long, unorganized and boring. Over complicates everything. Tests are too advanced. Offers little help to students who take his class from Saskatoon. Extremely condescending & biased on certain topics he teaches. Ignored multiple of my emails. Textbook and Mcgraw Hill were essential for learning.
He is unclear in lectures, and while he says he is there to help he will respond in 2 word emails (if you're lucky enough to get a response at all). I learned this course material through you tube and the text. His final exam was not a good representation of the course material. He likes to induce fear, and enjoys that people don't like him.
Great prof and lots of fun! Really is there to help you
Lots of work for sure. Found out that Dr B will help you only if you demonstrate that you are taking ownership of your education. Which I guess leaves some on the side. But wasn't a problem I had.
Because of this class am doing research this summer. Can't wait! Huge inspiration
A lot of girls skipped class and suffered for it. You need to go to class and pay attention. I missed one class and it toook FOREVER to catch up again
Hardest class ever. Worth it. I think. If I passed the final. But thanks for the help Dr. B!
Can honestly say that I will be a better nurse cuz of this class. Prepares you in a bunch of ways.
Older students kept telling me how brutal his final exam is. Just wrote it, couldn't disagree more.
I really didn't expect this class to be this hard. But it definitely was. I quit going to lecture because he was so off topic and scatter brained when it came to lecture. Just read the textbook and memorize the entire thing and you might be okay...
Hard class, but he really does bend over backwards to help you.
Loved Dr. Hart's labs and Dr. B's lectures lots of fun. Heard they are changing the course next year.
Great class!.
He does push students to do better. Seems to me some students fold (probably not cut out for this job) and those are the whiny ones in our class. Others actually do very well in this class. I think I am in that group, as I did well in the class.
Be prepared to do the readings, attend class, and spend a lot of time studying. This class is challenging. However, if you put a lot of work into the class, there is a good chance you will pass it. Dr. B can be intimidating, but when I met with him after class he was pretty easy going. The review sessions before the exams were very helpful.
The hardest thing I have done (and I have kids) for sure. But it is soooo worth it in the end. Dr B, IMHO, is intimidating only to the immature students. From what I gather, mature students find him to be just fine.
great class. but you have to work at it for sure!
This was one of my favorite biology classes! It was so interesting and Dr. B was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. He was eager to answer difficult, inciteful questions and went above and beyond the course curriculum. The group PBL kind of sucked and his tests had difficult questions but he marked fairly.
Tough course for sure, Dr B is a good teacher. I suggest printing off his lecture notes before class, reading the chapter before class and taking notes handwritten along side his powerpoint notes. I also recommend getting a tutor from DAY 1! You need it, tough course and his tests are extremely tough. Start studying from day 1 and don't get behind.
Heard horror stories of this class. But it all comes down to how much work you put into it. Loved how he related the course topics. I know I will be a better nurse for it
Spent over 40 hours a week just on this class alone and I think that I should have spent more... Dr. B is a great prof, but the class concepts are pretty tough if you suck at memorizing stuff.
I heard horror stories going into this, but Dr.B's A&P class was exactly what you'd expect. It was a tough course, but he made it clear from the beginning what was expected from us. I know a lot of people who worked hard and succeeded, and others who didn't. Dr B's a great prof, but it all depends on how YOU handle the material.
Enjoyed the class A LOT. Some drama in the class but not Dr. B's fault. Usual immature stuff. I think that most complaints were usually from the weaker/immature students in class, which is sad. Especially concerning how important the class is. Rumour is that if you get at least a 70% in this class, you are almost guaranteed to pass NCLEXs.
One of the few that enjoyed this prof. I believe he was a fair grader and was very understanding when I fell ill the night before our 2nd midterm. I got a 87% in his class with standard input of effort. Yes, he expects a lot, online assignments are long, & the group PBL isn't ideal. Go into his class with an open mind & you may surprise yourself.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Its a hard class for sure but absolutely great content. If you skip classes, don't do advance reading and don't prepare... you will fail for sure. I spent at least 1-2hrs everyday to get a decent grade.
He's a really great prof who knows his stuff! But his notes can be hard to follow, especially in the last half of the course when his notes consisted only of pictures. He easily gets off topic too. But he marks fairly, especially on the group project (which was kind of awful to do). Very interesting class but be ready to work for a good grade.
Loved Dr. B. Lecture material was relevant to what was tested.
Not specific when it comes to tests, so basically study everything. His tests are very hard, he applies what you learn in real life and throws things in there that he did not cover in lecture. You have to really study for this class.
Heavy tests (recycled/unrevised) & most of them are not even included in the lectures. Its like you need to have a great background knowledge already in order to be most successful in this class The good side is, you can really learn from his class. Its more on application & understanding rather than just memorization. Hes inspiring in some way
I loved him and really enjoyed his lectures.
This guy talks about 407 like its a bible. He jumps around from topic to topic during lectures and talks at the speed of light. Wouldnt take another class from him, especially not 407. Thinks hes amazing too and acts like he knows everything.
Dr. B was a decent lecturer, however, I found some of his slides hard to follow. Especially when the slides showed only pictures making it hard to keep up with writing down what he says. His PBL grading criteria was also unclear because in the assignment description he says what sections he wants in the paper, but the rubric had different criteria
Gave us 55 questions and exactly 54 minutes to do them. Less than a minute per question. Made the questions either incredibly long, or multiple questions in one (but count as 1). This was after the COVID-19 frenzy that left many students anxious and scared. And to top it all off he calls his lamb with disabilities stupid. took months to mark pbl's.
Dr B did not accommodate students well with the COVID situation after we had to cut our second midterm due to the virus. He made exams harder and longer and did not help students. It was not until the department heads stepped in that he had to teach us online. Would never take him ever again. He has cute farm animals though.
Dr. B is a good lecturer. Be ready to take good notes and spend time organizing. He is very opinionated and not always respectful. When presenting group projects, be prepared to defend your research and stand your ground. I ended up doing well and enjoyed course material, but will not take class from him again because of how he treats students.
Dr B is extremely knowledgeable and gives interesting and thought provoking lectures. He does a lot of application questions that require you to think critically on tests. He is very helpful, especially if you attend his study sessions prior to exams. Being in his classes pushes you to think rather than just memorize. Study hard and keep good notes
definitely a hard class. This year was harder as it was interrupted with COVID. there was much confusion at every level. In the end we ended up doing zoom. Wasn't the greatest. In an email, the class average was much higher this year and apparently no one failed.
Dr. B does know his stuff. Was ready to answer many questions and go into more detail on various subjects. Fortunately COVID wasn't a case then. The second half of the class was thought by Mel. I think the both are an awesome team and I can't wait to take Biol407 in the fall with them. hopefully covid is not going to impact the labs.
I would rank him higher if it were not for the COVID situation. It made a mess of everything. he didn't know how the class was going to be conducted. This was a problem throughout the UofR. The zoom lectures were a mess (learning curve) with spotty connection at times. in the end I did better than expected. Open book exam (albeit timed) helped.
I am not sure what others complained about. I actually found the class very easy.
Easily the worst prof I have had. He talked too fast so I could never write what he was saying fast enough. His lectures were confusing and his midterm was so hard. "Everything is fair game including the textbook" He gave no outline for the exams and I still don't know my PBL mark. Only reason I passed is because the final turned into 3 assignments
He is a good teacher but he does makes you work hard for grades.
Kind of on the fence when it comes to Dr.B. Going into his class. He is a bit of a hard ass, but not as bad as people say. He expects a lot but if you participate, show up, and do your work you'll do fine. Goes fast in lectures but I enjoyed them! Do expect to know the info throughly for midterms. 0 help when it comes to PBL partner issues though.
Firstly, his personality isnt bad, but one of the worst profs Ive ever had! For the group project he gave us the rubric 3 weeks AFTER we were assigned the project. The tests do NOT match the USELESS 3-4 HR LECTURES. I do great in other classes, but even my whole class is struggling (current class average: 36% after 2 tests + multiple pop quizzes)
Great course. He has lots of information to give and relevance. only students struggling in this class seem to be those that haven't learned how to study or have weak study habits. The first test was really hard, but I learned he looks more for understanding than rote memorization. Would definitely recommend!
A very hard class for sure. But I changed my study habits from memorizing everything to understanding concepts. I'll be honest it is weird, but is seems to click for some reason. not a huge fan of the PBLs though. As for approachability, he's ok.
In my 3 years at the UofR, this has got to be my most favourite class. I can easily speak for everyone in my class, that this has a lot of interesting material. Dr. B is engaging (even if remote learning). The assignments also helped me to stay on task.
Unorganized, forgetful, disrespectful and classmates and I never had any time to complete our tests with the time limits provided. 20 minutes to complete 18 long answer questions and a large matching question with information that we were told we would not be tested on.
This class brings out 2 types of people it seems . Those that want to be the best, and those that complain and are lazy. I spoke with Dr. B and changed my study approach and my average jumped 10 percent. The comment of 18 questions in 20 min, is a lie. It is 10 questions in 20 min. I received, on average, a 75% of the last 3 tests.
This class is CRAZY. It is definitely hard, but Dr. B more than offsets the difficulty by making himself available. He will drop everything to help students. Many constantly ask him, including me, for help, and he rarely is unable to meet. Considering he is crazy busy, is impressive. The course also brings out the crazy students. So much drama.
I'd pay double my tuition for a different prof, but in seriousness, this was easily the worst class I've taken so far. Many people, including myself, got 60s-80s studying other resources (khan academy ftw), but if you waste time rewatching the lecture, you'll get a 30% unless ur the guy that goes "yOu JuSt HavE tO wOrk FoR iT, It's AcC EaSy" like-
Easily the worst prof ever. Avoid taking a class with him at all costs. Never gave enough time on tests and the material on tests did not match what was being taught in lecture. Had such a hard time learning the material as the 3 hour lectures were useless. Would not recommend this prof.
I would strongly recommend the 396 for those that want to get a taste of research work. Dr. B, is a great supervisor. Good feedback and I learned a lot through the course. I am continuing on with research as a graduate student (not with Dr. B), but that is because I wanted to try a different field.
Dr. B does a great job of making the class applicable. To me, it helps bring home the point of why we are learning various material.
I took this class as an elective. While not my area of interest, the class was pretty neat. I loved the comparative anatomy part of the class. The labs were VERY well done : )
A VERY hard class. That being said, I am doing great in it. There is a small minority of students here that are super drama. But then again nursing is all about the drama (can tell which ones are about that below. LOL). Dr. B makes things very applicable.
A very simple class. Not textbook though, so you need to go to class for the material. Kind of nice as it is easy on the pocketbook.
Lectures are long. Ridiculously long. But the material is important. Dr. B does try to do what he can to reteach difficulty material. He is super easy to get a hold of when you need help.
Great class to take if you are interested in the nervous system. He covers a lot of different areas. Pretty neat how he links them all together.
He is very willing to help students who need extra help, however he does actually make you work for the mark. Making students work hard to achieve a good mark in this class shouldnt cause people to dislike him. He wants us to succeed and is more then willing to help you with this.
At first, I was one of the students who hated this class. Especially after the first quiz. But, after I changed my mindset and the way I studied for this class. I extremely enjoyed it. I like how he connects the material to real life situations. He definitely makes you work HARDER! But he will help you! Make sure you dont miss any class!
He knows his material but doesn't exactly understand how to interact with humans. Accused students of cheating on every quiz, essentially told Saskatoon students that we weren't trying as hard as Regina students, didn't believe us when we said we were having issues with the testing website.... just the worst.
Dr.B does not recognize that Bio 111 is a class of mainly first year University students, which is also mainly full of nursing students with lots if heavy course work. When questions are asked he is very easily agitated. I have personally tried to reach out multiple times for help but never received an email back. Not enough time for pop quizzes
Review sessions were super helpful because I was able to make sure I was comprehending the material from class. There were full explanations and repeats of full explanations of topics to make sure I understand important or difficult material I think the weekly quizzes were very helpful, as it helped me retain information
Easily the hardest class I have taken. Lectures are 3 hrs. Tests every other week. BUT. He works hard to help students. Is willing to meet with you. The tests are timed (even then I know A LOT of people were caught cheating. Too bad for them). But I found that the tests helped me to focus on the material better. I managed to pull off a good grade.
Quite a bit of drama from a few students, but I heard they failed anyways. So I think the class is better off for that. They also caused problems during the PBL, which took away from that experience. Tests are every week. LOTS of practice and review sessions though. Dr. B is also willing to help and help you apply the information.
A down to earth prof. He's a bit intimidating at first (a very intelligent man). But it is very clear he genuinely loves to help. He met with myself and my group after hours. A few students were out to cause trouble on discord. So I recommend staying off of that. A cesspool of toxicity, especially some "mature" students. Which is a shame.
I am not sure how he puts up with all the drama in the class. For example, I heard Saskatoon had 30 students caught cheating!!!! He told us the class average for Regina was 66%. My first 2 quizzes were poor (failed both). But I put more effort into the class and changed my studying, as he suggested, and I finished with an 82% : )
At first I hated the class. It was harder than anything I have ever done. But looking back on my grade and effort, I am really proud of what I have achieved and learned! I thank Dr. B for that. He will push you for sure. But he will also help, if you seek it. Many of my classmates put way to much effort into drama than studying.
Dr. Buttigieg is an excellent professor. 407 is a fairly intense class but you should expect this for a 400 level class. He delivers the material very well and has great knowledge of neuroscience. Keep up with the lecture material and the textbook and you will do well in the class. Highly recommended him.
Awesome prof, I had lots of fun. However, he's a really hard marker and I BOMBED his midterm. Expects a lot of knowledge that i just didn't have.
A great professor. Lots of information is covered from normal phys to patho Biology 110 is more of a high school class, and Biol 111 is more of a real university class. I found the adjustment difficult and didn't do well on the first midterm. But I went for extra help, and Dr. B will definitely help you if you ask. My marks improved a lot!
I have taken biol 288, 378, and 407 with Dr. B. In each class he showed a tremendous amount of interest in the topic, was extremely interactive with the students, and is by far the most respectful prof I have ever met. His test are fair, and he does his best to ensure all his students succeed. 10/10, would recommend take any class you can with him.
A professor that is clearly passionate & knowledgable about his field. My only complaint is his unorganized teaching style. Cell Bio-- or just about any biology class, involve heavy and detailed info. His slides are basically just a list of key concepts paired w/ textbook figures. You're fine if you have few classes, not if you've five + labs.
Dr. B is a nice and funny prof who is passionate about what he is lecturing, but I would not have done well in the class going off of his notes alone. The slides were hard to follow, the textbook was my savior. Your grade is mostly based off of 2 midterms that are reasonable as long as you study, and he also kindly does review sessions!
His slides were hard to follow and only included diagrams. No clear notes or points in his slides. He test you based off the things he said verbally in the lecture and that could be anything so if u missed a lecture kiss your grades goodbye! only simps with purple and pink hair passed his lectures. Others I knew didn't do well.
Professor B is knowledgeable and engaging, but the class can be challenging if you have a heavy course load. The textbook is essential, and tools like unstuckstudy alongside review sessions can really help with exam prep.
Dr. B was an excellent instructor. His lectures were clear, engaging, and supported by simple slides and interesting research stories. He was very helpful and approachable, and the exams were fair if you attended class. Overall, BIOL 407 was one of the best courses I have taken so far.
Hands down best prof, very knowledgeable, helps students succeed, I have taken 3 classes with him, did not regret a single one. This guy gave me a goal to pursue neuroscience.
