I took Prof. Coquilla's class on Introduction to Philosophy last Fall Semester 2012. I find him very interesting. He made philosophy easy by his approach. He has a very fair grating system, and you can tell your grade by the end of the final exam. He corrects papers promtly. I highly recommend this professor.

Great professor! You have to keep up with the work. He grades everything very quickly. This was a course in a 3 week minimester. It is not a blow off class but he makes it easy to do well if you try. He responds to emails very quickly also. Obvious, even as an online course, he really loves teaching.

Great professor! One of the most approachable and helpful professors that I ever had. I took him for a 3 weeks online minimester class, and the workload is very reasonable. The only reason I got a "B" is because I didn't had enough time to work on the assignments. Otherwise, I surely would have gotten an "A". I would recommend his class to anybody.

Great professor and a very interesting class. I took an online mini-mester and the workload was tough and very fast paced, but Professor Coquilla was very accessible. Very organized teacher and graded promptly.

If you do all of the assignments you will get an A! There are lots of them but most are very easy. He is also an easy grader. The quizzes are tough but they come straight from the book. You will have to do lots of reading for this class. I took it online. Overall good class!

This class is an easy A as long as you do the work. That being said, expect 2-3 assignments per week. The textbook is a must. For every unit, there's a discussion, vocab, 2 journals, 2 quizzes & an extra credit paper but fear not for he grades easily. Also, bare with as him English is not his 1st language, but props for quickly answering emails.

He is fair with his grading and expects participation, and attendance. You earn your grade it is not given.

I took him online, I made a B, an 88. He is a tough grader and requires a weekly discussion, post and quiz. He was very adamant about the quizzes online and the work being on time. Be prepared to study a lot.

I'm usually hesitant about taking classes online but I absolutely loved this one! It is easy flowing and professor Coquilla could not have been more pleasant. I usually dread buying muchless reading textbooks but I thoroughly enjoyed reading everything in the book. I wish he taught more classes because I'd love to take him again. Highly recommended

This class is easy and very interesting, as long as you put in the time and effort. You will have a quiz for every chapter so you must read (which are not difficult if you read)and a journal for each chapter (not hard to do). Would definitely recommend this class.

This class was by far the easiest and best class I have ever taken. The due dates are clear and each assignment is right to the point. I did take him this mini may semester and though it was super short, the assignments were extremely simple, so the class was never overwhelming. I can truly say this class was extremely easy and no one can fail it.

I took this class for a 3 week mini online semester. This teacher is amazing! I was very nervous about taking this class because I had tried taking it with another prof. and I dropped it because it was just to much. This teacher is not difficult at all, I learned a lot but with out dealing with the useless opinion stuff. I would recommend class!

Professor Coquilla taught an excellent online Introduction To Philosophy PHIL-1301 course. His instructions are extremely clear. Although we followed a textbook the professor always provided additional notes to go by. His grading criteria was extremely clear and participation was required. I really enjoyed this course.

I have a great learning experience this summer with Prof. Coquilla. He is very helpful to improve your grade. A well organized course and very easy to follow if your have a textbook.

I took his class online and it was really consistent. He assigns the same type of work every week. He seems to go easy on students so long as they meet the basic requirements in their work. I recommend him.

Great professor, took his class at greenspoint. Same Homework every week can be done quick, test are so so( most are taken on D2L) Book is needed and take notes.

This was an online mini. Reading is the key, you will not be able to answer quizzes without applied read. Written paper due on each chapter, a concept of the reading. Vocabulary every chapter. Mid-term and final can be tough if you have not read. Lots of extra credit chances if you blow a quiz or test. Accessible outside of class. Would take again.

I took him online as my first three week class ever, and it was pretty easy as long as you keep up with the work and READ. Your textbook is key to success in this class because his assignments are based on the chapters, that includes the quizzes. He offers powerpoints, but you definitely won't get it if you don't read the textbook. I recommend him.

Took his 3 week minimester. Had to log in several times a day to stay on top of discussions but he posted grades regularly and was an easy grader. Don't skip assignments just because they're only worth 10 points, they add up fast and make a difference when they class only has 500 points to it. Extra credit offered for each segment.

I love the class. I can get ahead of the materials and gives me a lot of time still in my job and my home. Very enlightening class. Recommended...

I did the 6 week summer class. 1 discussion, 10 vocab words, 2 journals (1 page each) and 1 extra credit assignment each week. Total of 8 quizzes and 2 test (midterm and final exam). Over all just do the work and you will pass. Some tests questions are difficult. Grades fast and fairly.

Learning is fun and personal. Feedbacks are timely. Online class with him is not bad. I may get an A.

This Professor was very engaged for an online course. Assignments were short & clear, & graded within a day or 2. Discussions were interesting & fun. Exams were directly related to the material, wording could be a little tricky, review chapter & you're fine. Do all the Extra Credit! Participation is key for high marks. Take this class!!!!

Online. Units and chapters I completed in a day's time. He provides you with everything you need to pass the course and essentially get an A! DO all extra credit assignments and it'll help you out in the end when averaging your grade. An interesting class and solid choice for a professor. You can tell he cares about students and his profession. :)

This class WAS AWESOME!!! I was worried about taking this course due to the amount of material that you read, but this class was smooth sailing. If you do the work and participate as expected, you're guaranteed to make an A. Professor Coquila also offers extra credit which goes towards your final semester grade. If you fail, you just didn't try.

This class was very easy just do all your work and you'll be fine. We are able to work on EVERYTHING at HOME! At first it may seem overwhelming but it really isn't, plus if you show up to class he'll talk about all the homework assignments. He is also pretty dam funny and works well with you! Would definitely take this professor again.

I took this class online and it was very easy! We had discussions, readings, quizzes and tests. Yes there was work required and takes some time, but I learned a lot and if the only way to fail is by being lazy.

This is a good class to take. It seems a bit confusing at first because there are lots of tabs to click on but once you get the hang of things , it's smooth sailing. Really great Professor. The work seems busy but not hard at all. Would highly recommend this Professor.

Very nice & kind. Lots of busy work. U actually NEED the book. He will not give u an extension bc your book is being delivered or what have you. The discussions & chapter assignments are okay, there's actually reading required & busy work but not impossible. I'm a lazy student and I got a 92 but I actually worked a bit hard and did all Xtra credit

Professor Coquilla is an amazing professor! He is very organized and follows the syllabus. I am glad I took this online class with him, because I was able to understand the material and enjoyed the interesting information that was provided.

Great class. Everything outlined on the syllabus. All quizzes and exams taken online from home. Textbook is required, be prepared to read and commit to weekly discussions and journal entries. Seems like a lot at first but it is easy to get the hang of and get into a groove.

I took the online class. The syllabus is very clear, do the work (follow the directions) and should should be able to get an A! You get what you work for! I would 100% recommend to take him! Just read, do what is asked and you will pass!!

The guy is great!!! I really had no idea of what I was getting into, but I'm glad I did! He is very funny but gets his point across and really tugs on your brain in a good way. I learned a lot and very satisfied with him and the course. It is a nice amount of work but its not too hard to understand in his lectures.

I like this Prof. He's very generous with his feedback and grades. Take him if you want an easy A but you have to do the work. I am not crazy about Phil 1301 but he made the topic easy and understandable :)

I took this course online, and it was actually pretty awesome. I learned alot, and I am able to look at things from a broader perspective. I have taken two Philosophy classes, and let me tell you this, THE PROFESSOR MATTERS. If you do the work, you will get an A. Lots of extra credit offered. Highly recommend.

Recommended to take if you need a philosophy class. Gives good feedback when you write papers and gives extra credit. Class is not hard at all and there isn't too much homework. I had enough time to do the things I do out of school.

Dr. Coquilla was an excellent teacher. His grading rubrics were clear and concise. If you do what he tells you to do, you should be fine. Be prepared to do your reading and understand reading assignments for quizzes and major exams. You cannot get away with not reading and expect to perform well on quizzes and exams. Do extra credit assignments!

BEST PHILOSOPHY PROFESSOR EVER! he's super easy and communicative, you can email him if any questions and he'll answer right away. textbook required but the assignments are super easy just read and keep up with assignments and you'll be sure to pass!

If you need to take PHIL1301, take this class! I took it online as a 8-week fast-track course and was a little scared at first, but if you are willing to read, watch videos, discuss & journal, you will pass the quizzes! Prof. Coquilla had a clear syllabus and a very user friendly course schedule. I learned a lot and would def take him again!

This class was pretty easy once I got the swing of it. I had trouble understanding directions at the start because I felt like he was trying to be clear, but ended up over-explaining in text. He provided great feedback when grading. Class was great, a lot of extra credit to keep the grade up. I'd recommend this in person class, or be on your toes.

Prof Coquilla cares about his students succeeding. I took this as a mini mester & passed it with an A. It seems like a lot of work but if you manage your time you can complete everything on time including the extra credit. He grades everything in a timely manner. You just have to do your work and you will pass the class. Great professor!

This was an 8 week class. Lots of work? Yes. But I appreciated that Coquilla allowed us the freedom to speak our views without penalty on our grade. It made completing the work, easier.

Very caring and most importantly he is appreciative while respecting people's point of view on the subject. Really a wonderful person. I took his class at the being of this year 2022, and even though it took me this long to rate him, I never forget to do this because he deserves it. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I will say, I almost rated him a 4, but mostly for nitpicky stuff like typos and grammatical errors which made some of his instruction difficult to understand. But at the end of the day, this guy offers so much extra credit, and the class was actually interesting and easy. Nice to be able to speak your mind when you want to.

The course is very organized but you do have to commit at least 3 -4 hours a week.

Be ready to dive in and learn. He is clear on assignments and make sure to do them with time and you will learn alot! DO NOT try to cram your work in one day. You will be setting yourself up for failure. He is very thorough in what he wants you to be learning.

Take it from someone who work 3-4 days throughout the week, THIS CLASS WAS SO EASY! Tests come straight from the quizzes except for maybe 2-5 questions. i took the 3week winter minimester. professor answers fast to emails. be sure to reply to discussions on the day it opens, if not you will lose points. overall, awesome professor awesome class.

Took this class as a winter mini. He had clear guidelines and made it super easy and understandable what was due and where to do it. The workload was not hard and did not take long to do. You also do not need to buy a textbook as he provides slides and pages to access. Highly recommend this class.

Profesor coquilla had a lot of prompts and quizzes. I liked that he gave us reviews for the midterm and the final. He gave great videos. Explains in detail. Yes it was a lot of writing but I expected nothing less because it was a mini-mester.

Professor Coquilla, whom I had in a three-week mini-mester, was caring and attentive to someone who came in not knowing what to expect. He made sure that we were aware of the assignment and gave me a freebie that first week I was behind, in addition to giving me the chance to get caught up. I would definitely take him again in a full 16-week class.

I don't like philosophy, but his class was very easy. A lot to read but you can get by on skimming mostly for what you need. He also provides the materials needed. 4 quizzes, 2 exams, 5 discussions and 5 assignments. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.

Professor Joe was awesome! I would highly recommend. His course did involve a lot of reading and writing, but he was lenient on grading. He cares that you learn and pass–will give tons of extra credit to help you.

I took this course online, Professor Coquilla provided great rescorces and all the readings, you don't have to buy a textbook. I love philosophy but if you are not interested in it, it can get confusing. The work is easy; written assignments questions based on videos, quizzes and discussion boards. There were two exams, midterm & final.

Took his class in the Summer Mini-mester, and was extremely easy. The concepts in philosophy are super subjective, and most of the assignments you're asked to give your opinion and reasoning for it. You are supposed to do some reading, but it wasn't necessary for me to be honest! I'm glad I took this class when I did, simple and quick A

you have to write A LOT but if you read, the questions arent hard at all. it's not an essay but you're basically writing the same amount as an essay. SUPER understanding if you just email him ! would def take him again and wasn't as bad as i anticipated. super easy A. you're just asked to give your opinion and to be able to back it up.
