smart guy - kinda rough. dropped his class...
very nice but test are hard, have study text very carful, easay have to back up with facts your opinion. ids can get away by using notes but some from text. take very good notes, goes fast write board a words so need more info. he know the material.
This guy was really interesting, tests are hard but if you listen to his review and follow it you will be ok. I would choose him over Dr. Rao.
Very smart guy, learned alot, but his exams are really really hard.
Brutal exams! Very boring. Avoid...

bongiorno is a great guy and he knows SO much...he knew about an obscure RR in my town which is in Jersey that I dont even know about. His exams are difficult...its the multiple choice, they killed me, i studied like mad and am a good student. learn alot
Smart professor, knows his stuff. but his exams are insanely hard. really have to know the reading and notes well.
Good - you will learn a whole lot. Bad - although you learn alot, it may still not be enough to pass his brutal exams. Avoid if possible, Very Boring at times.
ALOT OF CRAP NO ONE REALLY CARES ABOUT OR WANTS TO HEAR. A TOUGH GRADER.
The professor know his stuff. Knows even the small details of the period he teaches. If you are interested in learning about history this professoer knows his stuff. I thought his exams were easy because they multple choice and you are not required to do a term paper.
He is a nice guy and very smart but he is hard as hell. His tests are up in the air and hard as h*ll. His lectures get boring at times and he writes stuff mad fast. try to avoid him if you want to do good!
I GOT A B- AND I AM VERY HAPPY! HIS TEST AREN'T THAT EAST AND SHOW UP TO EVERY CLASS FOR THE NOTES!
Very knowlegable, however the rudest and least encouraging of all professors that I have ever had. I would not recommend taking him for any class.
This professor knows everything about everything. He is really tall and looks like George Lucas with classes. You feel like you accompished something after one of his courses
hes a good professor, very intelligent but hes talks to fast and you have to be a good listener to get all his notes. his tests are so hard if you dont study you have no hope! his class is easy but his tests are the worst, but he does give makeups. i wouldnt take his class ever again!
He tends to talk ALOT. He puts the notes all on the board but seems to always go off on a tangent about history. KNOWS ALOT. Very very smart guy. Can get boring after literally 1hr and 30 minutes of non stop talking. Tests are pretty difficult. especially if you dont study.
very interesting class...he knows his stuff...you have to show for each class and study really hard to get a decent grade.
Very intelligent! you have to study in advance and take all the notes and read the text book. I got a B which is good for his class!
Ya he goes off on History. What else should he do as history professor? He is a very accomplished man. We are lucky to be around him. If you like to learn.
He is a nice guy who teaches a difficult class. He wants the students to do well. Lots of effort is required. He is a good guy though.
very infomative, knows his history. Can ramble a bit. Taking notes and reading the text is all that is required. You can pass if you just keep to the notes and some of the required reading. There is no reports to write unless you request to do one. Had to take both my U.S. History courses with him and got a B+ both times. it just takes patience.
awesome teacher...adorable guy. in class u take notes.. tests seem hard but u always do good. I LOVE HIM...
good teacher
Very knowlageable but difficult
goes way too fast with lecture
Brilliant man. Knows his stuff, willing and more than able to answer any questions you may have. Tests are simple; majority of questions are taken from in-class lectures. Loved that he didn't use a powerpoint. textbook use is up to you, so if you're looking to save a little money, do so by not buying this one.
Had this man for three history classes!! Had no choice he teaches every freakin course! He sucks-his class is a nightmare-he goes way too fast, doesn't repeat himself. You don't learn sh**!! His tests are very hard and makes you think you need the texbook but you really don't (don't buy the text)cuz he makes up his own sh** on the tests!

BORING!!!! He just talks and laughs to himself during his lectures.
He gives 4 tests, 25% of your grade is each test. I never showed up to class, I just took every test and passed. If u fail the test(below 60) than u can take the test over again and the highest grade u can than get is a 60. If u don't care what u get in the class and just wanna show up and see if u can pass the tests like me than take this guy.
he taught DNY like it was my major. had to summerize articles in 2 pgs that were as high as 30+ pgs. make sure u show up the day before they're due bcuz he goes over what to include in the summary. read chapters thoroughly that he's testing u on. take some kick ass notes. the more the better.
ive taken like 10 classes with him because im a history major. his classes are pretty easy as long as you show up and take good notes. the tests are hard but as long as you study you should do fine. buying the text is helpful but not really necessary.
I LOVE THIS MAN!! TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WILL LEARN ALOT!! Awesome Professor! He is absolutely brillent!
I had professor bongiorno for 2 of my courses Geo and Constitutional Law in American History. He is a brilliant man and very nice. He is very involved with his work and gets a little too carried away with the law class. But overall a great guy, take alot of notes and make sure to read the book and youll be fine.
his law in amer. hist. class was awesome. he's a really funny guy if you give him a chance.
He is a really nice guy and a pretty good teacher. He knows alot about many things and you can learn alot. His tests for dny are 20 ID's and a short essay. Not to bad if you come to class and take good notes...
I've taken this profressor so many times. He is an amazing man with so much knowledge. I learn so much in his class, I know all his little stories. The test are a little difficult but you will learn something from this very intellegent man.
An intellectual elitist that has lost touch with reality
This guy thought Aaron Burr was Federalist...even 5 year olds know he was a Democratic-Republican...overall he has no clue what he is talking about and has no life (he watches PBS all the time)
Really out of touch with his students...like a robot...also he enjoys bashing university professors for being intellectual elitists when he is one himself
Don't take him and don't have him as an advisor...this guy should ONLY be a lawyer, not employed as something he has no skill or authority in
This guy thinks that the Mexican public schools teaches that the American South West is a part of Mexico...overall, he is the worst teacher I ever had...
As a history buff, this guy clearly as no idea what he is saying and should not be teaching at all
I see I am not alone...really horrible teacher indeed
Super Bad...
BAD!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM
I dont know everyone gave him such a bad score. Bongiorno is probably the smartest professor on campus. He comes to class, gives a ton of notes and give about 3-4 exam. Just take the notes and review it and you should be fine. An easy B+ if you try. It's history, all you have to do is remember stuff.
Love him!doesn't take attendance, but lectures are important.Make sure you always get the notes. Its alot, but copy it-Study it-Pass the class;its that's simple. He doesn't make history Exciting, but he's a very nice, intelligent man, willing to Help!History is never easy, but his class is definetly as simple as it gets. & makeup exams for a passing grade!
He is not the most interesting, but he is not as terrible as some of the other teachers I have had. He does not take attendance which is ok. When studying for the test use the vocab in the book it helps alot.
He is literally the worst teacher I've had since I've been in college. The only feedback he gave on any of the work was a general statement addressed to the class. I emailed him several times throughout the semester and never got a single response. I got As on all of the tests and did all of the work, but somehow got a B in the class.
i took him for an online class and he was very unresponsive when it came to emails and asking questions. the class consisted of four exams with essays and definitions. the weekly summaries and readings take a long time so dont wait last minute to do it. textbook is required
Don't have to come to class but his 4 tests are literally impossible unless he gives his review sheets which he often doesnt. cancels class alot though
Doesn't offer any help to students. Boring as hell! You will fall asleep before you even step in his class! Doesn't teach just rambles on about how he doesn't have a life... Starts speaking different languages during class thinks he's cool but really his class sucks! just being honest
He is a very nice teacher. The only reason people give him a bad review is because no one ever shows up to class, and then they do very poorly. He always offers office hours, so I don't understand why someone said he doesn't offer any help, because he honestly does. NO HOMEWORK. ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY. MUST GET THE BOOKS!! Great teacher!
Professor Bongiorno is a sweet and caring man. Unfortunately, his lectures are very dry and hard to pay attention to. Also, tests are next to impossible. I took 2-3 days to study for each one, and still received in the 70s. 4 exams, 1 final term paper.
Great person! Test are very hard. He is willing to always help you.
It is not a very easy class. There are about four tests, he lets you re-take the tests if you do poorly. He does help you if you ask.People take this class thinking it would be an easy free elective, but it is not you are going to have to work.
I had Bongiorno for GEO1000. I LOVE geography and this class made me like it a little less. His classes are excruciatingly boring and his tests are ridiculous - very vague and asks you to identify places on a map using longitude/latitude to an exact measure which is crazy. Definitely not worth the aggravation.
His lectures are clear and informative. We did not actually complete all the material, so if you actually want a survey course this may not be your guy. If you are taking the course because you want to learn more about the material rather than just have a teacher speed through the course then he's a good professor.
His lectures are pretty dry. He tells you that you don't have to go to class and you can still pass, though some of his test questions are lecture specific. You MUST read. He offers a paper you can write to lessen the importance of the tests, but it is not required. All in all, he's a nice guy and you just need to read and study.
Online Colonial Times to the Civil War- Clear about his grading criteria and what he expects from you. He's free to email or visit re questions or concerns you may have; Also understanding to postpone some work due to holidays or bad weather. Discussions, responses, chapter tests, term paper. Don't take with a heavy load of other classes.
Simple online course, one written discussion a week, exam multiple choice were tricky but the answers were in the book and you had to dig deep, essays were easy to write and open ended. He is available for help, gives feedback and is a nice guy. Course outline easy to follow. I recommend him for the online course.
Lectures are very boring and dry. Lecture notes are posted on blackboard. You have the whole semester to write a 5-10 page paper. The tests are hard but they are online. If you need help the professor will always help you. Also traveled to Rome with him, best idea ever. Very knowledgeable and helpful
had him for history online and TOTALLY recommend. super easy and he's willing to help you if you need it, just reach out. i rented the textbook on my laptop and it made the assignments really easy-- just search for the keywords and done. one discussion board & one journal entry (25 multiple choice) a week. sometimes skipped assignments. cool guy
EASIEST ONLINE CLASS. Cool guy. Assigns 25 mult. choice and discussion board prompts each week for the chapters. All which can be done in less than an hour. You dont have to respond to other students discussion boards (so great) there was 3 tests but it was as easy as the weekly stuff. Replys fast to emails, always helpful. Must take for history
He is an interesting guy with a lot to say, and he has a really cool personality but sometimes it doesn't come out very easily. When he feels comfortable on a personal level with the class it gets better. He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and as long as you are willing to listen and learn you will do well. Dude also commutes for 3 hours a day
Prof. Bongiorno is a great man, and is very understanding. He treats all of his students with respect. His assignments may seem like a lot, but when it comes to grades he gives the students the benefit of the doubt. Probably the most educated teacher in his field
Took for HIS1000C hybrid. We would have a lecture for an hour and a half in class. Then every week we'd have an online multiple-choice quiz and online short answer question. Then once a month an online exam. The online assignments make up your entire grade and are based on the textbook. The lectures and attending class is just for additional help.
hes absolutely terrible
he gave a lot of homework and exams for a while.
Bongiorno is so sweet, but his classes can be hard to get through. It's all lectures and they aren't the most engaging. He assigns a TON of work that is shockingly difficult for a 1000 level class. If you express concerns about assignments, he's pretty willing to compromise or extend deadlines. Love him as a person, I just don't love his class.
Without a doubt the best professor at St. John's. All the quizzes, discussion boards, and test questions are sourced right from the textbook, he never tries to trap you with stuff that's not covered. Incredibly empathetic/understanding - Bongiorno will never assign work over a break/holiday and will extend deadlines if asked. Absolutely take him!
