Do not expect chem I lab to be easy! If you do not put effort into pre-/post- lab he will come down on you. If you put effort in, he takes care of you. Entertaining, very smart, and energetic professor! Can talk over your head sometimes, but he will keep working with you until you understand. Great experience!
Lab is not easy. Showing up on time is very important. He makes sure to cushion your grade by grading your lab notes. Turn in your lab write up on time. Overall he is very nice and likes to joke around.
Dr. Bushey is a great guy! The pre lab quizzes are usually super easy as long as you do your reading before. The pre lab lecture and labs usually take over the time given. Post labs are never too hard, but do require some time. He is always there to help you if you have any questions. He has a good sense of humor and is a very knowledgeable man.
He's a great professor, he explains things better than my lecture teacher. He is friendly and he is ready to help if you have a question. He gives a quiz at the begining of every pre lab. He is very quick to take off points on post labs so be sure you take your time and get questions asked before you turn it in.
Bushy is a great Professor. Chemistry is not my favorite subject but he made it easier to understand. He explained concepts better than my lecture teachers which was very helpful in understanding CHEM overall. He is a little picky on the post-labs but it's not anything hard. He's easy to talk to and he is always there to help. Take him!
Dr. Bushey is a phenomenal teacher, would recommend taking him for CHEM 131 over any other professor. He gives you what you need to pass the class but he doesn't baby you. If you make the effort to understand the class and ask for help, then it'll pay off. If you're looking for someone that'll basically hand you the grade then don't take him cause he makes you work for it.
I had Dr. Bushey for lab only and I learned more from him than my actual lecture professor. He knows what he is talking about and he is willing to help you but only if you put forth effort. He does not baby you and expects you to do your part which I like. He was very helpful with any questions I had for a post lab. Great professor.
Dr. Bushey comes off really intense in the beginning however by the end of the semester he really grew on me. He has 3 exams plus the final and 5 quizzes, which one gets dropped at the end of the semester. He is really tough on his students but is fair and willing to own up to any mistakes he had made. Willing to curve at the end of the semester
Nice teacher, but you must put in alot of studying on your own to pass this class. Get ready to memorize alot, and read the book. He rushes through lectures, so I highly recommend you print out his powerpoints before class because it is not possible to write fast enough to keep up with him, you"ll drown if you try to copy each slide by hand!!!!!!!
Bushey is VERY hard, dont let his funny stories fool you. His lectures are hard to get sometimes because he goes way too fast. His quizzes are tricky sometimes. I feel like you need to read the textbook a whole lot to get the material, then just use his powerpoints as backup because alot of whats on the quizzes were not covered in his lectures.
I had Dr. Bushey for CHEM131 lecture before I dropped it. I have never failed a class in my entire life. He goes through his lectures way too fast and doesn't explain concepts thoroughly. He gives practice problems to go through every week and he DID put up the answers for them but stopped after the first 2 sets. All in all, I do not recommend him.
I have to be honest, I thought he was a jerk. I WAS WRONG. he really wants you to learn and it makes you earn it. I Probably got one of the highest grades and I am proud in myself for taking the initiative in working towards it. He does curve assignments so don't be too afraid.
Bushey was a great lab professor. Very funny and helpful. Would take again but put effort into your work he is tough.
Dr. Bushey does not give students enough time to take proper notes. He makes mistakes in his example problems on the board. You are expected to memorize extensive formulas and equations and exceptions. Hardest class I have ever taken. 18 students dropped this semester (giving the university over $15,000) Be prepared to to teach yourself online.
I personally would give Dr. Bushey my highest recommendation, especially for chemistry majors. Through his class format, I was able to completely understand all the topics introduced. But don't expect this class to be an easy A, you definitely have to put in 4-5 hours of practice every week.
He takes up 30 minute chunks of the class talking about about random non-chemistry stuff, then speeds through the lectures at a ridiculous pace!He also punishes the entire class for one student's rudeness (i.e. if their cell phone rings, he threatens to walk out of the class-whether or not we've had our quiz yet!Gives prefernce to certain students.
Very good professor. Ordinarily, I struggle with chemistry, but I found his lectures to be very helpful. Despite taking his class as a long evening course once a week, I didn't feel like it was a struggle to pay attention because he is an engaging and interesting teacher. He encourages the class to participate and explains things clearly.
worst teacher ever. looks at me like I have five heads when I have a question. doesn't have any sympathy for failing students. if u do one thing that not in "his way", u get at least 10 points off. hes so loud and throws things like he owns the place
Dr. Bushey is one of the best professors I have ever had. He has a dry sense of humor and can come off rude at times. He is by far one of the best gen chem professors. He makes you work for it but grades on an average. For example the average on the first exam was a 60% but made a 60 a C. He is also very accessible after class and via email.
You think you understand the material but on the tests and quizzes, the problems are VERY hard. Quizzes online are timed which does not provide enough time to fully answer the questions and be able to double check your work. When grades are compared to other students, almost everyone has said that they failed them. Try your best to not have Bushey
Hes horrible. Not a goood professor do not take him . Very rude. Hes really mean and angry. Doesnt teach martial good at all and gets upset when you dont do well on exams and quizzes. Hes trash and the entire science department . Dont take him . I didnt start failing classes until I transferred here. Thats how they make their money.
Bushey is the worst teacher. He goes way too fast on lectures. Just be prepared to fail every quiz and every exam.
Great professor, but very very mean. One time he made a girl cry in the middle of class because he thought that the girl cheated, when she didn't. He is a very very tough grader, but he is great at explaining things clearly and he cares a lot about making sure the students learn. If you pay attention and try, you should be fine.
Honestly, he is a very tough guy. He comes off intimidating at first possibly to get people to drop his class. Lectures are fast paced so make sure you print out his slides prior to class. Going to office hours helped me out with a lot of the concepts and also scored me a few brownie points, so make sure you give him a visit so he gets to know you.
Very good professor. I enjoyed his class a lot. He does keep things fast paced so be sure to keep up and review the material before class. He does expect you to read the book and know what's going on. Tests and quizzes are tough, but if you prepare and study, you will do well.
He is not a bad teacher, you just have to know your study habits. I was so close to a B- but my start in the class made it hard to reach that grade. He is very understanding if you go in during office hours. It is not the end of the word if you get his class. You have study and understand not just memorize. He curves a lot of the in-class exams.
Very confusing lectures doesn't explain much just shows himself doing the problem. tests and quizzes are extremely hard. I do not recommend taking him.
It's a hard class. No matter who is the professor, don't expect to fly through without putting in the work. That being said, Bushey is very straight forward and can come off rude. He tells you how it is because he doesn't want to waste his time or yours. His lectures are just like him: straight forward, clear, and consistent. Great professor.
His test and quizzes are very hard. I personally never struggled in any other science courses like the way I did in an intro chem class! His lectures seem all over the place and he goes way to fast and does not care if you wrote the entire problem down! Its hard to go back and review notes since you don't even know what he was teaching.
Oh boy. He's a nice guy, I guess. BUT AVOID. AT. ALL COST. Dont think your just going to get by this course with a little bit of effort. Lecture? Mandatory. On the same hand I never learned anything useful in the lecture :/ (I learned and understood more studying on my own) avoid avoid avoid unless you have some understanding of chemistry already
This course was difficult and covered a very large amount of material. The instructor too often went on tangents and made poor use of lecture time. Most of the lectures were very rushed and examples were far and few between. He was willing to assist students during office hours and after class.
A great teacher, but you need to care about his class and at least try.
Dr Bushey is a great guy and professor. The lectures don't cover a bit of the material so make sure to read the text book and make study guides for yourself. Although it doesn't seem like it to most people Bushey cares about your grades! He curves a lot, so don't stress your raw test scores, but make sure to study. Put in your best effort!
Dr. Bushey is a great chemistry lab supervisor. He's a tough grader, but is straight-forward with what he expects of you. He's fairly quick-paced but is open to early-turn in for assignments to give students a chance to make corrections to their lab reports.
Bushey knows the material he teaches and what hes talking about but if youre looking for a professor thats slow steady and nurturing of your grade, this isnt the class to take. You will mainly have to teach yourself outside of class in order to understand the material.
Dr. Bushey is a strict but respected professor. He may seem intimidating at first, but he is kind and will help you if you make an effort. He is knowledgable about the material but he does go rather quickly through his lessons. It is a good idea not to miss class, read the textbook and stay on top of the material.
One of the worst professors I have taken. He is awful as a person and awful as a teacher. He is condescending and isn't flexible at all when it comes to helping you outside of class. His exams are ridiculous since majority of the class never finishes on time. Rarely curves and rushes thru his lectures leaving me with no understanding of material.
Chem is a tough class and Bushey was a tough professor. The first day of class he told us that CHEM131 is one of the most failed classes at Towson. He knows his stuff, but he seriously overcomplicates a lot of the notes and he moves fairly quickly. The tests are too long, I ran out of time on every single test and quiz.
Not exactly sure why Bushey gets poor ratings? Chem isn't for everyone so rating him poorly because you didn't understand the material is unfair. Bushey's class is straight forward and organized. All the lecture notes are online ahead of time and all of his quizzes and tests follow the notes perfectly. He does a lot of practice in class as well.
If you don't have previous chem experience, Bushey is not a good prof for beginners. He's willing to help if you ask questions or put in effort to see him outside of class, but in class he goes too fast. Disorganized thoughts and switches often back and forth between powerpoint, writing on paper, and writing on the board.
He is not a bad teacher but, he goes quickly and will sometimes poke at you in front of the class for asking questions frequently. To do well in the class be sure to read the book before lectures and take notes. You can google how to do the homework for help. My class had 10/11 tests because chem dept. was trying a new thing, not too bad.
At the beginning of the semester I wasn't a big fan of Bushey, but he has grown on me. This class is very difficult, definitely a flunk out course. But, if you are willing to put in work you can pass. Do not skip class, he moves very quickly and if you aren't paying attention you will miss a lot of material. The tests are hard so definitely study.
He's an awesome professor, he's just kinda, the chem professor version of a football coach. He does post his lectures online, but I would suggest being there since sometimes stuff doesn't make it to the online version.
He wasn't great at explaining things, but he wasn't terrible by any means, either. If you pay close attention to what he's saying, you should be fine. He's also really funny.
He told me that "since I was not a chemistry major, I don't need to pass his class" and was not very helpful during lecture or office hours. You can tell he knows what he's talking abt but has a hard time relaying it, MAYBE would have been good if I had a strong chem background. But not very "user friendly" for an INTRO TO CHEM prof :(
I had Professor Bushey for CHEM131 and he was fine, however having him for 132 was hell. He is not good at explaining material, and often moves wayyy too fast. He got some of his own answers wrong and made the learning catalytics very stressful and due at the very beginning of class, but would get you the code minutes before. Not taking him again.
A lot of people take their dislike of chemistry out on the professor. Bushey's a great guy! His lectures are super clear! He's super receptive of questions and will never make you feel stupid. He's also kind of funny. Don't be afraid to take him.
If you want to do good in this class watch the lectures he posts online before class. Instead of taking all of my notes during lectures, I took mine from the videos, then adding anything that wasn't covered in the videos during the lecture. It's a tough class if you haven't taken chemistry in high school.
Very hard to keep up with, knows what he's doing, but not very good at explaining himself. This is the first class I have ever failed. He is also not good at posting grades on blackboard, so you aren't able to see what you have overall in the class. Would not recommend.
I had him for only lab. He seemed to be a little more chill about labs than lecture (from what ive heard). The only thing is that he NEVER responds to his emails--ive prob sent him 5 email since march and still havent heard anything back... so we'll see what i got in his class. Do the work, be prepared, and be smart and he'll like you
I recommend this class to any chemistry major. He does teach fairly quickly, but he covers the topics completely. I recommend printing out his PowerPoints beforehand and taking notes on that. (lifesaver) Read the text and practice. His tests are difficult, but if you do the study modules (extra credit) and homework, you won't have any issues.
Bushey is HARD. You must put excessive amounts of time in practice aside from homework, to get it fast and be ready for weekly quizzes. He also changes questions unnecessarily and makes it 10x difficult sometimes. He is unfair on time for quizzes, and leaves almost no value in understanding what we are learning, b/c of how fast you must finish.
He is sarcastic but never mean, its just his sense of humor. Very clear and helpful, but you need to reach out if you want help. Good at explaining things and gives good practice questions. Tests are straightforward and don't trick you. Chem is difficult, but he wants to help you understand. Follow the book and come to class and you will be fine.
Dr. Bushey is a good guy and is very knowledgable in his field. He explains things clearly and tries his hardest to get to everyone's question. There is homework and quizzes every week. I learned a lot in his class, but the one thing that was bothersome was the amount of time allotted on quizzes, it was not nearly enough for me.
There are quizzes every Thursday on the information you learned the week before. Everyone had trouble with the quiz timing and could hardly finish in time. There is homework for every chapter on the Pearson website, and sometimes there are problems that were never covered in the lecture. If you make a mistake on the quiz you will lose many points.
He knew what he was doing. With it being online the quizzes were hard to complete with the short time limit. He was always available for questions. Theres weekly homework and options for extra credit. He also offers final forgiveness so if you don't do well a quiz then the final grade can replace 2 of those. He definitely makes you work for it!
I took Bushey for lecture online and it was by far my hardest class. I would study for the quizzes so much and take a lot of notes while watching his lecture videos and still fail most of the quizzes. Theres a quiz every thurs worth a lot of points and he gives u barely any time. Dont take him unless your super confident and dont mind stress.
i know im not the best at chemistry, but Dr. Bushey was very rude even when it not intentional, writes everything on his screen so its very messy and hard to read, an tests and quizzes are very difficult
Prof. Bushey. I would never take him again. His lectures were way too fast and hard to understand. I got a horrible grade on every exam. You have to make sure to go to tutoring sessions outside of class because without them, you won't pass. I ended up changing my major because of how much I hated this class. Never again.
Please save yourself the trouble - take chem from anyone else. Hes chaotic and explains things in such a confusing way. I ended up using YouTube teachers to just barely pass, going to class was mandatory but did nothing to help my understanding. Not only would I say he is not a natural teacher, but his general attitude is obnoxious.
he will call on you randomly and his lectures go by so fast. it was hard to learn anything yet he gets upset when most of the class fails quizzes (one quiz every week) hes sarcastic and sometimes rude. he never gave us the grade to any of our lab reports until the semester was almost over so we never knew how we were doing until it was too late :/
Dr. Bushey has to be one of the best Ive had at Towson so far. You NEED to put in extra work. Watch videos, lectures, go to office hours, review notes, DO PRACTICE problems and be prepared to participate. You need to work in order to get a good understanding of the material. Otherwise, he is accessible and honest about his coursework.
He's a good professor for lab. Picky about certain things but he gives you all the information you need to succeed in the class.
I had Bushey for chem lab and he definitely was not my favorite. He did not give us a grade for any of the lab reports that we had to turn in which made it hard for me to accurately know what my grade was going to be in his class. He was a nice guy but overall not a great professor.
I had Dr. Bushey for lab and he was great. The only issue was that we didn't get our lab report grades back untill finals week, but he graded the reports having that in mind. Still, take your reports seriously! (Sig figs, neatness, include units, eqautions, etc...) Respect the lab rules... And if you take the class seriously, he will like you.
I enjoyed taking this class with Dr. Bushey because chem is a hard course no matter what professor but he was good at explaining concepts and posted his pre-recorded lectures from last year on Blackboard as a resource. There were weekly quizzes (50 points). Some were hard but they helped me retain the info. There are some extra credit points too.
Take Bushey!!!! He is straightforward and always ready to help. Lab was stressful but it was fun.
He will be tough on you, but if you ask him for feedback he WILL give you the feedback, if you need help on a report hes there to give it to you, if you just take good notes and accept the help hes willing to give you will pass the class very easily, thorough instruction and a good teacher over all.
He's committed to teaching his class, however, he doesn't adjust his teaching strategy in response to his classes progress/grades. He doesn't like it when you ask to skip his class due to a one-time schedule conflict with another class, proceeds to berate you, say it's your fault for not taking responsibility, and how disappointed he is with you.
Dr. Bushey is a great professor. Chemistry is not an easy class by any means, but if you take the time to learn the material, Bushey is there to help you. Lectures go by fast, but there are so many online tools to help you succeed in the class. He has office hours and plenty of opportunities to offer help outside of class. Highly recommend!
Bushey is phenomenal. Genuinely wanted class to do well. Posted past lectures online. Stays on topic and doesn't ramble. Easy to talk to. Smart aleck but in a sweet and funny way. Very engaged with class and super knowledgeable. You need to hit the ground running and stay ahead. Spend about 7 hours a week outside lecture working problems.
Good overall teacher but will call on people randomly to answer questions
Chemistry is hard no matter what you do. Have to do lots of practice problems and put in plenty of study time to do well. Even then, you most likely still won't understand anything. Bushey does his best to help you along but he can't learn it for you. I think he's great and chemistry is interesting but I'm also glad it's over.
Bushey is a great professor, he's very understanding and offers lots of practice problems and office hours. He made the material very easy to understand. I ended up withdrawing from the class because I did not have enough time to dedicate towards the practice problems each week and fell behind, no fault to Bushey.
be on time, bring your lab printed each time. I didnt know my grade until the very last day of the semester. he has his favorites. dont take him unless you have to. I hated this class but he was kinda helpful if you ask. will get smart about the tiny things. read read read and come prepared to class.
Chemistry is already a tough subject, but Dr.Bushey made it fairly easy to understand. I got the grade I wanted because he was always willing to make time for office hours outside his class. He really takes the time to explain things if you don't understand. Overall, he's a great professor and it was a pretty solid class.
Joseph Bushey made my life a living hell. He aims to make his class average a C so that the one's who get A's "really have to work for it." What the frick Bushey. Moral of the story, chem is hard as it is, so pick a professor who doesn't intend to make it any harder.
Funny, but very intimidating. Responds fairly quick to emails-- luckily, because you will be emailing him about every pre and post lab. VERY strict with lab attire. Can only miss 2 classes max
Just use the textbook to actual understand the material and use the powerpoints for a quick summary and practice problems. Chem is hard and if u don't read that textbook u will not understand shii, 11 quizzes only once a week, usually about 2 weeks of material on them. There are 20 extra credit points you can get if u do the DSM which take 2 hrs Gl
Even at 8 AM Dr. Bushey brought a ton of enthusiasm to lecture. If there is a tricky math concept he will take the time to fully explain it. His accessibility outside of class kept me from getting discouraged even when I struggled. He will walk you though anything you don't get with so much patience!!! Also the course organization is CRYSTAL CLEAR!
He hasn't posted a single grade and where half way through semester. The teaching is very complex and its hard if you haven't taken AP chem to understand what anything means. He doesn't explain very well and I honestly I spend hours outside of class in the tutoring center just to get C's on the quizzes. Do not recommend at all...you will regret.
Very knowledgeable and wants students to do well! Easily accessible outside of class and holds office hours. The lectures go quick, but all slides are posted before class. Practice problems in class help prepare for the weekly quizzes. It'll help if you've taken AP Chem before, if not the class seems fast-paced - but doable if you stay on track.
I absolutely love him! Really kind and will always help you and answer your questions. Very helpful during office hours too. Gives lots and lots of practice questions. Only weekly quizzes, no exams, but he graded recitation questions and hwk. He never put in quiz grades until the end tho. Must study outside of class, the lectures go by quickly.
Gives weekly quizzes that determine your grade in the class, however, he doesn't post them until the last couple weeks of the semester. He moves through lectures EXTREMELY fast with little explanation and does not provide any review material that can help you on the quizzes in any way, if you are not a fast learner, do not take him.
Dont get me wrong, Dr. Busheys class is hard. However, he teaches information in a clear and concise manner, and has excellent practice problems to study on blackboard. You have to study outside of this class or you will be lost, but once you learn the material its easy.
If you never took chemistry , you're going to fail. You get quizzed every week but that's every chem131 class. Assignments are due at unreasonable times and he does not let you get an extension. Everything is fair game so for each quiz every week you have to study basically everything. It's extremely hard to balance class with anything else.
If you haven't taken AP chemistry, have a job or need to prioritize another class for the semester DON'T TAKE HIM. Chemistry is a hard science on its own, he makes it harder. He's the only professor that make his own weekly quizzes and if asked what topics to study, anything is "fair game". Unless you are a beast in science take another professor.
Good professor. Chemistry is a college-level class, so be accountable. It's not easy anywhere. If you stay on top of the BEGINNING (not scary, emphasize), you'll do great. Downside is gives out half-filled pdf's, you must attend his lecture to fill. Tbh spend 3 hr/w on chem, and you're fine. Think it's too much, you spend 4 hr/d on TikTok alone.
Dr. Bushey for General Chemistry 1 is someone who makes it very clear as to his expectations for the class. He will let you know if you are straying away from the path of success. Weekly Quizzes but provides plenty of resources to practice the material. Textbook is free, grading scale is clear. Don't be lazy and this class is manageable.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR RUN
Bushey is very intimidating at first and gives a weekly quiz. He talks about all material prior to the quiz and it is almost always apart of the lecture the class before and on the homework. I never really studied outside of class beyond the homework and in class problems. Recitation seems annoying but it is so beneficial, he also cares so much!
I absolutely loved taking this course with Dr. Bushey! He is extremely caring, funny, and always willing to help when needed. He responds fairly quickly to emails and provides great feedback. This course itself is not the easiest, but follow along in class and you will do fine!
Bushey seems like a good guy but isn't a great teacher. He likes to make a big deal about how hard the class is, but the content itself isn't too bad. We had quizzes every Thursday and as long as you study a little bit on Wednesday night you'll be fine. I ended up teaching myself a lot of the content because his lectures weren't super helpful.
Dr. Bushey definitely cares for all of his students and wants them to succeed in their chemistry careers. He provides lecture powerpoints, extra practice problems, and a free online textbook. As long as you're preparing yourself before every lecture and keeping up with the material, there is no reason you should fall behind in this class.
Seeing all the bad reviews due to Bushey's swift lectures and 'many quizzes' is insane to someone who quite disliked chemistry prior to this professor. Yes his class is a commitment, however that should be a given. The weekly quizzes are not a hassle if you take notes and review the presented material, which is uploaded in blackboard.
I only didn't pass because I had a long commute, so I dropped with a W and took it in the summer. Professor Bushey is a great professor but does go through lectures quickly because there's a lot to cover. Show up to office hours, ask for extra help, and study a LOT on your own. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS!! It really helps on quizzes.
The professor consistently came off as self-important and dismissive. After class one day, he raised his voice at me in a way that felt degrading. I'm an adult, and the lack of respect made it hard to stay engaged or feel comfortable reaching out again.
This class is challenging no matter who you take. overall, bushey is fair but I can see why people don't like him.He is way too overqualified to be teaching this class which i think is the stem to most people's dislike.Dont recommend taking this class with ap1/2 or any other extremely content heavy classes.(p.s most professors have heavy accents)
Absolutely not.
Hilarious is an exaggeration, but he does make an effort to be fun and make friends with his students. CHEM 131 is a hard class for any professor, but I will say he's probably not the easiest. Very weekly quiz heavy with little completion and extra credit, though he is clear on grading, but I can see how students might find his style intense.
Dr. Bushey is a really funny and nice guy. He gives clear lectures with thorough explanations on how to do things with example practice problems. Not a harsh quiz grader and gives feedback that is helpful/makes sense. He really wants everyone to pass and understand the material. Put in the time and effort and he will help you succeed.
Easily one of the best chem professors at Towson. The amount of resources and practice problems he provides is amazing. Had to withdraw from CHEM131 with a different professor but retook it with Bushey and got an A. Show up to lecture, do the practice problems, and go to office hours and you'll be good.
Professor Bushey is knowledgeable and easy-going once you get to know him better. His sense of humor can come off as snarky at first, but I found it funny and it helped make the labs more lighthearted. His grading can be tough, but he's clear about his expectations and is always willing to help when you need it. I would definitely retake if I could
I loved Professor Bushey. After a couple weeks, you know exactly what to expect each week. Work problems on Mondays and quizzes on Fridays. I highly recommend keeping up with the textbook chapters alongside each lecture, they go into more depth and practice than you will in lecture. He gives you a ton of material to help you practice, use them!
He teaches exceptionally and explains concepts so every1 understands. I loved him. Has a good sense of humor and is very willing to help outside of class. All of the work you do facilitated a better understanding of the content. Short 5pt quiz on Monday to introduce content, Recitation to practice. Friday = Quiz. Hw every week to help U! Great guy
Super funny guy, type of professor to joke with students and he is very caring (stayed late every wednesday so I could take my quiz and not have to at 8am with ads) and wants to make sure you understand what you're doing. His "favorites" that some other reviews may be referring too are literally just students who raise their hand and interact.
Dr. Bushey has been my favorite professor at towson University thus far (and I am a super senior). He is hilarious and genuinely cares about students and their understanding of the material. Be warned, he will make sure you understand, so sometimes the lectures can feel overwhelming, but he is always there to help re-explain things to students.
Professor Bushey was a good explainer, but if you have anxiety, his class can be intimidating. He is very particular, and will call you out if you are not doing something his way. He can be domineering, but I think his heart is in the right place. I did learn a lot tho as it scared me into learning, so if thats what you need, I would recommend.
Bushey is definitely a character. He can come off as intimidating at first, but it's evident that he is passion about chemistry and wants you to succeed. Make sure you attend class prepared with notes and in dress code! He also likes students that participate in class and come with a clear intent to learn and ask questions. I'd take him again, 100%
If you are not a fast learner don't take him, this man flew through lectures foot on the gas no break. The example problems that's on the slides and the quizzes are completely different.
I would take his class again! He does go fast so it can be difficult, especially if chemistry isn't a strong subject for you. He is very receptive to questions and encourages them. His office hours are also very helpful in reviewing for the weekly quizzes. He is very funny and makes a lot of jokes during his lectures.
His lectures weren't helpful and he was barely available outside of class. His office hours were on zoom and he would constantly be late or not show up at all. He's not good at answering emails and wouldn't answer questions in class because he needed to teach the content. His lectures were just reading off a PowerPoint.
