great teacher, fun class
Cool guy, lots of reading, easy quizzes, he's Canadian so he says aboot
awesome teacher, very easy
explains things very well, tests not that hard, overall a funny guy
Real funny guy, goes off topics and tells cool stories, very laid back guy.
ODD, but interesting, very fervent about work, 2 tests 1 paper and final.
very funny, helpful and excited about class, awesome Canadian!
if you read and can stay awake he's pretty easy, nice too
too many quizzes and reading, ethics blows no matter the teacher
Eventhough hes from a disgrace of a College, Loyola, he can actually teach
His unusual, yet funny comments make an otherwise boring class enjoyable
nice guy, entertaing stories, tough grader but easy course, and rather Canadian
Easy, almost as easy as Bostar. Gotta skim reading to get ideas, but that's about all. Lotta quizzes, not easy on papers (don't do 'em the night before). Funny guy, probably confused about his sexuality. Canadian as HELL. What's this all aboot, eh
Good. teacher. explains things well. funny stories. keeps you awake.
Great teacher interesting class interesting comments weird conversations not hard enjoyable
Awesome professor, never missed a class because it was so much fun. I now want to be a philo major because of him(unfortunatly you can't do much with that) Very funny very canadian and you will want nothing more then to get ripped with him.
funny canadian who really knows his stuff. always explains things so that you are able to understand them.
He's a funny, amusing guy... I wish his class wasn't at 8am, but what can ya do. From what I've heard though, he's one of best Phil teachers- so take his class since you gotta take intro to philosophy anyways!
Funny guy, keeps your attention in class even though it is at 8 in the moring. Test arent to hard if you study for them. And has one of the cutest daughters. LOL
Good teacher who really knows his stuff. Tries to make things understandable with stories and examples. Overall the class is boring but not because of him but because its philosophy.
If you pay attention to his lectures you won't have any problems on the test.
funniest Canadian ever! take his class...he's great
good teacher, keeps you awake in the morning. funny and helpfull. just do the readings for his class and its a breeze.
even though he doesnt take attendance you never wanna miss this class cause hes so damn entertaining. seriously cracked me up all year, presented the info clearly and you learn a lot, the tests are just tricky though.. but youll get over it.
Awesome guy, Joe is one of the funniest and nicest professors i've had. Tells great stories that help make the material easy. Tests can be tough, but you'll never want to miss this class eventhough he doesn't take attendence.
Joe is awesome. If you have to take a Philosophy course, take it with Joe. Chang your schedule or wait a semester because you'll be glad you did. Nice guy, VERY humerous examples that make the material easier to understand.
Joe is the man... he likes to put his hands on his head and pronounce things funny like "aGAINst" but it's a good time...
Joe was an awesome teacher. He was easy and kept what I thought would be a boring class fairly interesting. He gives funny stories in class and makes the material understandable.
Good teacher, explains information with clarity
very funny and clear, 2 papers, 2 tests, and a debate. stupid homework assignments that i never did, tough grader. he is a very good professor though, and very smart. curses a lot, jokes around, he will def make you laugh
Joe is a great teacher-he's really funny and tells funny stories in class. He makes the material easy to understand and he's really helpful with any questions you have. Tests and papers are generally easy if you read and take notes in class on what he says. Take him, he's fun!
Very nice guy who's down to Earth. Class atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable. Not a bad experience.
CRAZY MAN, great accent, tough material, ask him to explain things over and over, great kid he has, be clear on tests, participate in class, see him at office hours, ask for help, don't leave the final paper to last minute, really participate, take REALLY good notes
Took online course with him. WOuld recommend for this forum, he was VERY helpful, clear, and fair. Highly recommend.
He's a nice guy, but he can be a tough grader. Not a lot of work, no attendance policy. I recommend him..but keep in mind he can be boring, but he is funny
No attendance policy. Last couple of weeks of school asigned 300+ page book to read and paper, on top of other work. Grades ridiculously hard, depsite saying in the intro th class that he doesnt expect us to be highly philisophical.
zoned out in class everyday. understood what he was saying, but had no clue in where the discussions were heading. easily lost. books were boring too. but he was right in one thing-you go in there confused, you come out even more confused. great...
His ethic skills are like his sweaters, they are unbeatable. Very good teacher.
Campisi is one of the best teachers I have ever had-he is able to break down difficult philosophical concepts, by both explaining them, and having visual demonstrations on the board. In addition to his teaching skills, he throws in a quirky sense of humor for all his examples. The atmosphere in class is always relaxed, a great class, great teacher
ummm HATED this class...very very hard because he is an extremely hard grader...take someone else if you can..also kinda scary with some of the references he makes and stories he tells...DO NOT TAKE HIM
A pretty boring class...wish i didnt take it as honors,... i heard his other ethic classes got to debate and talk about current issues (abortion, war etc) We just do the same thing every period--- He's very unclear about his grading system, should use a rubric for his papers, very difficult to know where to improve....
Campisi is an unbelievable teacher- he is both adept at breaking down difficult readings and teaching them to both visual and auditory learners. His class is always amusing- his sarcasm in his examples for class makes him a hilarious teacher! As long as you read and come to class, you should have no problem passing. Highly reccommend!
I wish i took this class as a regular ethics course instead of honors... I would have loved to do the debates my peers talked about. would love to talk about current day ethical policies. Grading system is pretty unclear, hard to tell how to improve essays....must go meet with him during office hours, nice guy, political views are very apparent
Campisi is a very funny guy and makes touhg ethical theories somewhat easy to understand. Despite this, he grades extremely hard. Be prepared to have your thoughts shot down. He expects everyone to grasp these concepts and be ethical philosophers, even though in the first class he says he knows we are not all philosophers.
i had him for phil101 and again for ethics, think hes one of the best teachers esp for philosophy/ethics, i know a lot of people whove gotten bad profs. hes funny, very caring, and really breaks ethics down so you can understand. a ton of work piles up at really inconvenient times (finals/midterms) but its ok
Knows what he is talking about with his readings but is a tough grader!!!! Good luck and not recommended. True Canadian!
I hate philosophy and he makes you like it when you get him. I got a B and didn't put as much effort as I should have. 2 papers, one was with a partner and it was on the movie snow white. PARTICIPATE. Loves when class discusses concepts and brings stories or current events related to it.
He's a really good professor, especially for Ethics. He explains ethical theories very well, and uses funny examples to get his point across. There is homework everytime there is reading due, but its really easy. Other than that, there is a midterm, final, 2 paper, all of which can be very easy if you give him what he wants for them.
hes a really nice guy, but its hard to rate him because he changes his curriculum every semester. when i took him we had EXTREMELY easy homework, no tests except for the midterm and final, and 2 papers. But my roomate took the same course i did with him second semester, and she had tons of homework.hes a great guy though.
really nice guy, very understanding, and very helpfull, I will definitly take him for ethics also.
Great guy, Great class, mad champion status... this guy knows how to light the lamp
excellent teacher, very funny, very knowledgeable overall an excellent class.
One of my favorite teachers at Marist. I have him for honors ethics, so it is a lot of work, but worth it. He is so helpful, and very clear.. He is pretty funny too. I wish I could take him for more classes or that there were more teachers at Marist like him!
awesome teacher! he loves philosophy and he makes it fun and he is very funny. he knows the readings can be difficult but he does a great job explaining them. attendance isnt mandatory but theres no way you will do well if you dont go and take good notes. he gives 2 essays that can be challenging but he will look them over before you submit them
Campisi is an awesome professor. He is funny, energetic, and pretty brilliant. Difficult reading assignments can become crystal clear in class once he explains them and comes up with analogies. The exams and paper are pretty challenging, though, and there is a lot of reading to do.
Professor Campisi is a nice guy...the class is such a drag though. He tries to make it interesting and tells a lot of jokes. He grades REALLY hard on papers and exams so make sure you write as much detail and understanding of the material as possible.
I found the class to be very difficult, but he was a good teacher. I don't know whether he's just a hard grader or I have no skills in the subject, but I struggled..
Campisi is awesome. I had absolutely no interest in philosophy before I took his class, and now I love it. He keeps the class very interesting and he is hilarious. He isn't the easiest grader but you will learn a lot in the class and be glad you had him.
Great teacher! Im telling you, take campisi! his homeworks are hard reads but he literally told me that if you do them you get a 20/20. You dont een have to understand what youre reading because the next class he literally makes it all crystal clear! mid term kinda dfficult, just study and ask questions before hand, and 2 essays are long, 6 pages.
Great teacher, really funny and helps you stay awake for an 8am. Works with you on essays... gives helpful feedback & if you work with him you'll get a good grade. Philosophy is confusing, but he makes the readings so understandable in class. 1 quiz, midterm, final, 2 papers. Take the class you won't regret it!
There were a few questions to answer from the readings that were due before every class, but luckily, he gave full credit for them since the readings were hard to understand. They were easier to understand once he went over it in class. There was a midterm, final, and an essay which was around 10 pages, but we got to pick our topics which is good
This class was not bad at all and it was interesting, even though the readings were hard to understand, but once he went over them in class, it was easier to understand. I liked his grading system. The essay was not that bad and the good part is that we can choose what we want to write about. He's very nice, but sometimes his humor is in bad taste
Class is interesting, and I found the readings interesting, but difficult. His class is fun, and after class discussions the readings will make perfect sense. Homework given after almost every class but it is easy. Mid-Term, Final, and 1 quiz are the only tests given. 2 Essays are , be warned he is a difficult grader.
he is very quarky. he can be funny and is excellent when it comes to explaining the philosophy. The text can be hard to understand, but that's philososphy. He only gives out 2 papers, both not that bad.
Campisi is a GREAT teacher. He loves what he's teaching and he's very clear. He's a really funny guy and al all-around great person. Not a lot of work, but enough that you actually learn something. Great intro class. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN.
Amazing teacher! I've had this professor for two semesters and he is just great. There is a lot of reading for each course I've taken which may be a done side, but he does a great job of clarifying the material. Great personality, and easy to get a long with. Makes learning the subject interesting an informative. Definitely a great professor!!
Campisi is The Man. Take his class because he is one of a kind at Marist. I'm imagining his Intro Philosophy or regular Ethics classes are easier than his Honors Ethics, but even this honors class wasn't too bad. Any extra work is offset by his great personality and you'll actually like going to his class even though the subjects may suck.
Would not recommend.
Campisi is funny, intellectual, and makes class worth going to. The reading assignments weren't too hard and his reviews for the midterm and final were extremely helpful. Two 7-page papers, including a book report, and an in-class debate are also included in the course. Overall an interesting class and an effective teacher.
He made learning about the philosophy of food super fun and interesting, sometimes he brought in food and had us do tasting / smelling experiments. It was a really fun class for a FYS.
Just weekly reading assignments during the year but his big assignments are difficult and tedious. He is a tough grader but will help you a bit during and outside of class. Pretty easy to get a B, almost impossible to get an A.
Campisi was one my favorite teachers ever. I had him for FYS and our topic was philosophy of food. His class was always really fun and interesting to go to. He is a great teacher and knows that he's talking about. He's also really good person in general.
He is a fantastic professor. He gives out a lot of reading assignments, but nothing that's not manageable. He grades them on completion and his lectures are based on the readings. He gives out 2 papers based on the readings. He also only has 2 exams that are based on the readings. Easy to pass the class if you put the work in.
Campisi is an amazing Professor. He is super funny and in class discussions are very engaging. He knows his stuff very well and is always willing to provide extra help. Take his class, you wont regret it.
Definitely a class in which I did not enjoy. A very tough grader so make sure to accommodate his needs in your writing. If you love Phil take this class, if NOT save your time.
Professor Campisi loves philosophy and teaches a good and entertaining class but is an extremely tough grader and gives very little feedback on the papers he grades. Would recommend only for philosophy majors/minors and upper level classes. Do Not take him for intro or breath requirement.
I had Professor Campisi last semester for an intro to philosophy class. He was super funny, weird, and interesting. He would sometimes relate philosophy to personal stories and had recorded lectures posted on Ilearn that were good to look back on.
Professor Campisi is hilarious during class and connects real life stories to the texts. However, he is a pretty hard grader for papers and you only have two of them for the whole semester as well as three - four tests, but he can let you hand in papers early to fix anything. So if you aren't a good test taker or writer don't take him.
Campisi had really good energy for an 8 a.m.! He was really funny and engaging and went over every reading each class, so long as you ask questions. There is a lot of reading, which is necessary to read for quizzes and papers. In my opinion, he isn't a tough grader, I recommend!
Campisi is so funny and it is really easy to get him distracted to pass the class time faster. There is a lot of reading but most of the time you can do the assignments without doing the readings and only watching his videos.
Campisi is an amazing teacher! You can tell how much he loves both philosophy&teaching. His class is not easy. But he wants you to do well in his class and gives you the tools to do so. He is organized and his expectations are clear. The rest is on you. If you have any questions, he is happy to help. Put in the work & you will do well in his class.
Def would recommend taking his Ethics of Food with him. He is very interesting. Papers (2) can be tough but otherwise fun and interesting class. Would def recommend for people that want a pathway.
Very nice man who cares about his students. Recommend taking but the work can be a bit much at times.
Professor Campisi was overall a good teacher however he grades essays / papers very tough. He is very understanding and accessible outside of class.
This was my favorite professor freshman year. He is very funny and he gets off topic a lot telling stories. The homework is very easy and there are only 2 tests and 2 papers the whole semester. I highly recommend taking him for Phil 101.
He is an amazing professor. He's so funny and knows how to keep the class engaged but this isn't a class you should take if you plan on not participating and or paying attention. If you are a decent student you will have no problem in his class. class is so entertaining it's worth it to take him. homework assignments are easy finished in 10 mins.
Overall easy class. Crazy guy but compares things to understandable and relatable topics to make it easier. Homework are based on readings and usually consist of just a few questions. Midterm and Final, and two papers that are very doable and will proofread and edit for you if hand it in early. One of my favorite classes.
He's pretty crazy but he was entertaining. Guy just went off about some super liberal tinfoil conspiracy about the food industry for the entire class every class. Didn't believe a word of it but he was entertaining. Super funny watching the creatures come out of the woods to sign up for this class and talk to him like he's a genius
Campisi is the most chill guy ever. He knows his stuff. He publishes food articles in magazines and does research papers for fun to present in front of boards. Respectable guy, amazing to have.
