Dr. Carcello is a great teacher! However, the material in this class is extremely hard. If you do not do the homework you will not pass this class. The best/ most intelligent teacher i've ever had. Considering all the USEFUL material I have learned in my academic career, i'd say about 60% pertains to material I learned from 1st grade to sophomore year of college. The other 40% came from this class. You're a new born baby crawling on the floor. He'll turn you into Carl Lewis. Good luck.

I earned an A in this class. How? I went to every single class and review, I recorded every lecture, I studied every day, and I did every problem I could find until I memorized them all (and then I made up problems of my own). Now the idiots that made fun of me for trying so hard are paying me to tutor them.

This class is a 98mph fastball. Dr. Carcello will be very thorough in the lectures and homework. He will be very straightforward about what will be on the tests. You'll know exactly what is coming. Hit it if you can. (I've taken almost 200 hours of college courses, his final was the most difficult test I've taken in any class).

This intro class is, unfortunately, the highlight of the accounting curriculum at UT. If you are expecting the rest of the program to be of the same caliber, think again. On the other hand, if you are an undergrad at UT in any major, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not at least temporarily declaring a business major to take this class.

When Joe Carcello was in High School, he played on the middle school team so he would dominate. In his fraternity, he was the head pledge hazer.. as a graduate student. Later in life, he lead the both the Highway 80 and Battle of the Junkyard assaults in desert storm. Accounting 301 is the academic equivalent of Omaha Beach. Expect no mercy.

Carcello is an incredible professor. You cant complain about him only the difficult of 301. Bring a blanket and a pillow to Hodges on the first day and live there for the semester is my best advice. The Tests will blow your mind. The Final will make you want to cry. But if you put the work in you will get the results. NEVER MISS A CLASS OR A REVIEW

One word: Arrogant. When I took this class, half of the class either dropped or failed. He does not realize his impact on the futures (and scholarshipgrant status) of his students. Or perhaps he does and simply does not care. He finds satisfaction in life by having 20-year olds fear him.

Dr. Carcello is an expert in the accounting field and is a very interesting guy. However, to be teaching an entry level course and making it as difficult as it is? Absurd. Juniors in the finance and accounting majors are usually taking 4-5 other classes at the same time, but you literally have to use ALL of your time for 301 to pass. Again, absurd.
