He's a great teacher. Super funny and always is making jokes. Although he's a little everywhere with notes, he wont test you on anything he hasn't covered in class. He never uses the book and you almost never have to do any reading. Tests are all mutliple choiceand he gives you atleast ten answers free. Just take notes and you'll so great!

He is a great history teacher. He's really engaging and makes jokes all the time which keeps you interested. Assignments are easy and you only have a midterm and a final. All multiple choice and alot of the questions are super obvious. If you don't get an A or a B in his class, you should consider weather college is the right place for you...

Such a good professor! He is so relaxed, funny, and tries to get his students interested in history. You only write a few papers and is a very easy grader. I thought the lectures were a little dull but he tries to get everyone involved by assigning a presentation each class. Try to take him if you can!

GREAT TEACHER! loves history, loves his students. wants everyone to pass. could fail everything you do in the class and still pass as long as he knows you tried your best and showed up to class. only 2 tests:midterm and final. really easy. 4 books to read and write papers on but put some effort in there with good critiques and you'll be fine. Awesome teacher... makes jokes most of the time during class attendance is pretty strict with him and most of your grade will be the critiques from the books he assigns to you... midterm and final and thats it. participation in class helps you out too.

One of the best professors at SU period. Really cares about you grapsing the material and leaving with a passion for history. No textbook required just a few outside readings. Papers are really easy and theres only a few and the tests are REALLY FUN. PLEASE TAKE HIM

Took him for his 101 then jumped at the chance to take amer gov with him for an elective. He's very knowledgable and passionate about his work. He cares about his students and aims to teach not to punish or whip into shape like some. Also has a great sense of humor, wish I had another class I could take with him, great experiences.

By far my favorite teacher this semester. He's funny, has a great personality and if you get to know him he will take that into consideration with your grade. 5 papers determine your grade and they are all short and easy. Take him and you will not regret it at all.

honestly... such a great guy. he doesn't care what grades you get, basically, if you just show up you'll pass. i failed everything & got a B. he's such an awesome professor. he's so adorable & reminds me of pooh! his accent is hard to understand at first but it gets easier as he talks more. definitely recommend!

Awesome is not the word. He loves what he is doing and it shows. Always explains the material and tries to relate it to other times and other places.There is lots of reading and papers to submit but it was the best history class I ever took. He encourages the class to think and not just memorize facts. It's amazing the amount of knowledge he has.

LOVED HIM! I did not expect to go into an American Government class and understand anything coming out! He has a passion for what he is teaching and it shows. He relates every situation to something understandable by anyone. Make sure you show up for all his classes.. attending is mandatory. Great sense of humor and extremely fair.

GREAT Professor! The class can be a boring but he does a great job making history come alive. Hes very easy to talk to and as long as you come to class and participate you should be fine. Their are multiple book critiques that are easy even if the books can be dull, and 2 exams. I got a C on the midterm and still managed to get an A in the class.

I never had a more interesting class than this one. Chaikel is amazing ! He is clear, interesting, and enthusiastic about the subject. I didn't liked history, but I made sure never to miss any of his classes. He made history come alive with his humor and his knowledge. Take his class if you can.

Not a class for the procrastinator.. he has a nose for BS. I didnt really pay attention all year and now I'm paying for it before the final. If you like history take this class if you're looking for an easy A look elsewhere

Why he's awesome: I took Mr. Chaikel for a few classes. He loves teaching, and he loves inspiring, and it is evident from the moment you sit down. Ask him questions. Be interested. And he will take an interest back in you and make sure you do well. Beyond that, he'll remember you and if you ask, he'll be a reference for you later.

Besides making history crystal clear, Mr. Chaikel made the course interesting and a sheer delight. His passion for history clearly shines through. His dealing with students is very fair and helpful. Thank you for a great semester.

Super easy professor. He doesn't care if you skip class. All of the papers are graded easily, I never read a single book and always got A's on them. You can even use notes on exams.

I never had a better professor or a class that I loved more. There are books to read and critiques to write but the grading is fair. Don't even think of plagiarizing. I hated history until I took Prof. Chaikel's class. He is the most passionate and motivated professor I ever took. His tests are not the usual retelling of the facts but analytical and thought provoking. I loved his class and l loved his style of teaching.

Only missed 1 class, Failed every assignment and got a C for the class. If you show effort to him and show that you want to learn you'll be fine. He's a great guy and wants you to succeed.

Chaikel is a great professor. Has 2 easy tests & 3 papers critiquing 3 different books. Classes are all lecture with no powerpoints but it is interesting information and he keeps you engaged. Tests are open note & overall he keeps the material as interesting as possible and is very very flexible and easy to work with. Show you work hard, easy A.

Chaikel is a cool guy. Lectures are boring but he tries to keep people engaged with his humor. I suggest not taking it in the morning because it won't keep you up. 2 tests both easy and open note. The 3 book critiques aren't on spark notes and he somehow knows if you didn't read. SHOW UP TO CLASS. This kept me from an A. Not a bad class though.

Mr. Chaikel is amazing. His lectures are informative and very interesting. Will clarify anything for you if you do not understand. But you have to read books and do reports on them and you only have to test. Midterm and final.

Lectures are so interesting, he keep you engaged. All you have to do it show up to class and pay attention and take down good quality notes. He has 2 test, midterm and final (5 questions) and book reports. His test are always open note so it is important to take down quality notes. I had his class twice and enjoyed both. I got A's in both classes.

I had Chaikel for history 101, which is a history that i don't personally like but he made it so interesting. We had to read 3 books and write papers that were only about 3-4 pages long. All you had to do was go to class and take notes and it was an easy A. He gives you like 4 skips but is reasonable about it. I recommend him to everyone now.

I have him for History 101 and love it. He loves teaching and he shows it in his lectures. He is hilarious,makes jokes throughout every lecture. You write three papers on outside books and only take and mid-term and a final. But they are open notes. I would 100% recommend him to other students. If you miss class, he is good about helping you.

CHAIKEL IS AWESOME!!!! I hate history nor do I like it and he makes it manageable. Assigns 3 book critiques with a midterm and a final (both open notes). So all you need to do is show up to class and take decent notes and you'll pass. He also adds humor to his lectures and you can tell he is passionate about history. Highly recommend him!!!!

If you have the choice take Chaikel! He doesn't use powerpoints, so you have to take notes while he is talking but he will let you look at his notes outside of class. His tests are open note and he doesn't make you buy a textbook. He is very lenient with due dates, if you need more time or have a problem just go talk to him, he wants you to do well

I'm not much into History but he really encouraged me and helped me understand the content. He relates his lectures to our everyday scenarios. You do have to read 3 novels within the semester and write book critiques but as long as you use citations in your text you will ace them. Great History professor. He only gave one mid term & can use notes.

Easiest A of my life. All you have is 3 book critic papers (everyone I know got a 100%, even people who didn't read the book) and one or two tests (all open note). He's very passionate about what he teaches and is extreamly funny which keeps class interesting. Would highly recommend!

Made the material understandable(theres a lot of people). Exams kinda weird but he's an easy grader (don't leave blanks). Heavy reading (4 book critics) but I got by without reading any of them (don't recommend doing that). GO TO CLASS B4 THANKSGIVING BREAK he gave everyone there an A on the last critic! def take him! He makes it enjoyable!

Chaikel is one of the best lecturers out there. He keeps his class engaged with passionate and detailed explanation of historic events. He is not a tough grader at all, and there are only three short novels you have to read with three papers. That's it. TAKE HIM!

I'm not good at history at all I hate it so much. But he made it better. He wasn't a tough grader and he really tried his hardest to help you get an A or a B. SUPER nice guy and likes to crack jokes during class.

One of the best professors I've ever had, very engaging lectures and he's not boring! Truly a terrific teacher and made me want to further my career in politics.
