Good: Great laid back teaching approach. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable, will do examples of any questions you ask, grades on a bit of a curve, assigns select hw assignments. Bad: class can be hard, weekly quizzes are a pain, makes u keep up though!

Good teacher. Kinda funny. Taught well, doesn't take attendance, so be careful there. His tests are pretty hard.
One of Solano's finest. Dr. C is organized & presents lectures clearly. His exams are tough--so be prepared. Do the homework, go to lecture, stay on top of the work. Dr.C is very, very good about answering questions & clarifying material. He grades carefully & fairly. If you can--take his course!
He's good at explaining things and genuinely enjoys being a teacher. Woo!
The best math teacher at Solano period! Funny as hell! Lectures were VERY clear. He will not test you an anything he didn't cover. Lots of partial credit on tests! If you do all homework, and do good on weekly quizes, your gauranteed at least a B+. TAKE HIS CLASSES, and you'll agree with me.
hes is one of the best math teachers at solano. the way he teaches just makes sense. great choice for a teacher!
Mr. Conrad is a great math teacher. He goes through the homeworks and answers them on the board. He helps out a lot too! His tests are pretty hard though. He says jokes too!! Pretty funny!!
Very logical...reminds me of Tuvac or Commander Data from Star Trek by how he goes about his lectures. His method (don't know where he got it from) for solving second-order nonhomogeneous differential equations was great. I think he is hoarding how much he knows though.
I don't know where you all got that he was a good teacher, but I beg to differ. I've always loved Math and I hated everything about it, He is so monotone and I want to fall asleep whenever he lectures. I just ended up dropping his class because it was so bad. And if he was going to talk about the "math Mugger" one more time I was going to die
has great examples and explains things well
the greatest teacher ever! he explains the problems and gives clear examples..long lectures but he is very helpful! tough tests..but if u do the h/w it's not that hard..he's the coolest! :)
I don't know if the person that feel asleep in his class is talking about J. Conrad that: is very explanitory, gives good examples, has difficult exams that test previous knowldge, and who enjoys teaching without detracting from the subject keeping interest. He is strict, but gives partial credit, he does not have patience for those who don't try.
J Conrad is a wonderful professor. I Hated math before I had him. Now, I do fairly well. He is hard, so make sure you come to class and do homework. However, he is a fair grader. He knows his stuff!! Very friendly and cute!!
This teacher is a very nice and easy going person. He is very helpful and willing to re-explain lessons, if necessary.
He is a great teacher. You do have to do homework and study, but he explains everything clearly, and his lessons are well structured.i would defenatly recomend him especially if you find math difficult, really nice guy, and wants his students to do well =]

Very thourough
I've been out of school for almost 10 years now and was very, very lucky to have him as my math teacher. He genuinley cares about each individual student and is always eager to help. He's very organized and his tests are always easier than the homework. Go to class every day, take notes, do the homework and you'll get an 'A.'
He is a really good teacher and I highly recommend that you take him. He is very thorough and will work with you if you do not understand the material.
After reviewing what others said about Dr. Conrad from this website, I decided to take him and what a difference. He is very helpful, clear and concise. He is also very fair in terms of grading tests, quizzes. He gives the opportunity (unlike others) for extra points from hand in hmks as well. I recommend him to anyone!
He has a good sense of humor
By far the best math teacher I have ever had. If you plan on taking a math class at Solano, make sure you take it with him is possible. He has great examples, his exams are fair, he has a great sense of humor, and he makes class fun and interesting.
Dr Conrad is right up there with Martinelli. This class was the hardest class I had ever taken, but I learned so much I feel I didn't pay enough to take this class. The course is hard because it's TWO separate courses in one! He is one hell of a teacher, a benefit to solano. I may change my major to math because of this man. THANK YOU DR CONRAD!
Conrad is the best math teacher ive ever had... take him and u wont be sorry. he doesnt make it too easy.. but he makes it very understandable. i will always work my scheduale around to take his class.
Professor Conrad is great during a regular semester class, but not an intersession class. He is more concerned with staying on the class' time schedule, not with answering explaining lessons step-by-step. Confusingly, textbook homework is worded differently from quizzes & exams. If you aren't already familiar with trigonometry, don't take him.
Probably one of the best math teachers at Solano. I did not pass 104 with other teachers but I finally got through it with Dr. Conrad. He gives you quizes to stay on top of the material and drops your lowest scores, so his grading is very fair. His answers and lectures are clear. If you have trouble with math, he is the one to take.
This is the best freaking math teacher. He's organized and to the point. His quiizes and tests follow all the material covered. He's so understandable that you'll never find yourself asking for help.
Maybe I'm missing something? I took him for Math 31 and after passing Math 30 with an A, I found his class difficult. His teaching style was a little dry and his tests differed from the work we would do in class. I didn't have a good experience!
Conrad is a good teacher. His classes aren't easy but he will teach you everything you need to know. He provides real world applications to keep the curriculum relevant.
He is the best math teacher in SCC. He is very knowledgeable about what he is teaching. He tries to teach as much as possible; not only is everything on the book, but also he thinks it will help you in the furture. However, the harder part normally is not on the test. He does all the homework same time while his students doing it.
Excellent instructor. Clear and concise teaching. Walks you through the more advanced subjects so that you understand them.
Hard class. I took 20 units and kinda put this class on the back burner and that was a bad idea. Had all As except for this class. Just do your homework and try to form a studygroup. The final is ridiculously hard. Just make this your priority and you'll be fine. Does not round.
Amazing/hilarious teacher. Partially inspired me to become a math major. If he finishes his lectures early he will often tell you about the history behind whatever concept you're learning. Very few math teachers do this. It adds context to all this crazy stuff you learn and makes it much easier to understand.
An excellent math teacher, I am taking him again for MATH 051!
By far the most excellent math teacher at SCC. This is definitely a hard class and he is not an easy teacher but he is very fair when it comes to tests and quizzes. As long as you pay atention and practice, you will definately learn. Again, very excellent teacher and highly recommended.
He kept lectures interesting with his humor. His tests and teaching focus on being able to do a small range of problems very quickly. I would have preferred the focus to be on understanding a wider range, without some of the time constraints. The text book used in this class was TERRIBLE.
I don't know what everyone else is talking about. He is NOT hot, and he is not helpful... AT ALL. If you are not a math major and don't like math, then don't take him. He makes you feel stupid when you ask him questions and expects you to know things he never explained.
By far the best math teacher at Solano. This class was super hard but he was there to help you with any questions. He also made math very fun by providing real world applications to math. He gives four exams and a final, also gives 12 quizzes but he drops 2 of them. I highly recommend taking him, you will learn everything there is in Calc 2.
Great professor! The subject was hard (it's math), but he does a good job explaining and allows you to ask questions during lecture if you don't understand something. Highly recommend him! He is also very helpful during tutoring hours, and sits with you until you understand.
My favorite math teacher ever. period. he's totally likeable and has good teaching methods. overall, super nice guy. i definately recommend him.
Dr. Conrad is one of the most concise professors I've encountered. He breaks down every problem step by step helping students understand what must be done in order to be successful in any math problems he presents us. I highly recommend this instructor versus any other.
Really great teacher. Took him over the summer. Really clear. Doesn't let you use notes on his exams like other teachers but if you follow his instructions on what you need to do to pass the class then you wont need any notes. I highly recommend Joseph Conrad.
Dr Conrad is such an amazing professor! He will help you with your calc homework and is very clear at explaining concepts. I won't lie he's kinda hot when he picks up dat chalk.;)
This teacher is incredible. He is probably the most prepared teacher for lectures I have had. Homework is optional, which I love. The only real challenge is the very long tests for a short period of time, but doing the homework will help cure this issue. I would highly recommend this professor.
Great teacher! Took this class during the Summer, so cramming everything into six weeks was difficult but definitely not impossible. Attend the lectures; missing one class is like missing three classes in the Fall. The text book, I feel, is a bit dry, but the lectures really makes the information much more accessible.
Extremely helpful. Easy to talk to. Book is mandatory. He is very laid back and tells a lot of jokes and stories.
I had failed Math 104 with a previous teacher, then when I took Conrad he made it all work out! He is an AMAZING teacher. I hate math and although I didn't come to love it, he made me understand it! He doesn't grade extremely hard, he's very reasonable. Would take again! (And he's such a nice, funny old guy! What's not to love?)
Conrad was the BEST math teacher I've ever had. He's so nice and organized. He knows everyone's name by the second week. Everything turned in is graded and returned to the students the next day. There's one mac assignment a week, 12 quizzes, 4 exams and the final. There's also homework everyday but he doesn't collect it or check if you did it.
Professor Conrad is one of the best teachersprofessors that I have ever had. I would highly recommend him because to his outstanding teaching abilities and relative easiness in the class due to this. And this is coming from a high school junior. Best of luck!
Conrad Is a great professor and I would definitely take him again.
AMAZING math teacher. Material is hard in general, but he breaks it down for you. Tests are long and no joke but manageable if you do all of the hw and pay attention to your notes. Is a funny person too. Genuinely cares about the students. Makes lectures understandable and fun. Is a very fair person. Gives quizzes every week, 4 exams, and 1 final
Professor Conrad is very helpful. He helps you with any questions you have and he breaks it down step by step. 2 exams and a final and 12 quizzes but 2 are dropped! He gives great lectures that really help you when it's time for the test.
Currently taking him through the fall 2016 semester and I must say he is a great teacher. Don't take the MTWTF classes that are only 50 minutes each. It's not enough for me to full learn the material so I had to obtain a tutor. He gives out an excessive amount of HW, Mac Assignments weekly, and online homework. Tests are easy
Great professor! Definitely one of the better choices here at Solano. Care about what you do in class, and participate, and you'll come out on top. Offers extra credit sometimes for Math Club contests, quizzes are straightforward, along with no surprises on the exams. He's in the MAC a lot too so you can ask him questions there.
Though Dr. Conrad's class was not successful, with the majority of the class after the drop date failing, the average grade in the class was 58%; however on a personal note Dr. Conrad is quite humorous.
He's a great teacher, but if you are like me, and have anxiety/depression or anything that can interfere with your focus, don't take him for the 50 min classes. It's not enough time to take a test, and my grades are largely a reflection of how I'm feeling that day, rather than my actual understanding of the material.
I've taken more than one of his classes. The dad jokes are great, explains things well and has good sense of humor. Does not grade homework, grade is purely tests and quizzes. Quite a difficult professor but is my favorite math teacher at SCC
I took Dr. Conrad a few semester back. He failed me, but what I find odd is that I achieved nothing less then an A or B then an now am finished. I felt he was grading me based on him liking me or not. Not on my work. I feel this is something that should be heard. Also he give 10 min quizzes 5-6 page test 1hr no exceptions on time. No ext crdit
He can explain Math 21 very clearly, and I like his class
Great professor with good sense of humor. He lays out the material clearly and is very structured and organized in everything he does. Tests are tough and makes you work for an A but it's clear what you need to study for and what material he expects you to know.
I took Dr. Conrad during my first year here, I was very intimidated on whether or not he would be a good calculus professor. By far the best professor out here on campus. He always starts class by asking if there is any homework questions, and gives great lectures with several examples. He is easily accessible and is always updating class work.
He comes off really nice but is an unfair grader. Let's be real. We are allowed to rate our professors based on our experiences. The majority of brown people in my class were failing. If you are IMMACULATE while brown you will pass. Otherwise, you will fail. He will pick your wk apart to the point that your answer doesn't matter. You do the math.
Best math professor I have ever had, barely passed calculus 1 and took calculus 2 with him and understood everything. A professor makes or breaks a class and he will make you enjoy math :)
BEST CALCULUS professor
I didn't think DE would be important until I got into the upper division courses at the UC. Almost every engineering course requires solving DEs. His class was just as strenuous as the UC math courses, only minus the curve, so it's harder to get a good grade :( lol. Also, his methods are so much easier/better than the textbook!!!!
While Dr. Conrad has an amazing personality, but his teaching is quite poor. He is excellent at teaching and tending to people who already understand the material quite well, but not for those who get even a little bit confused. 50% of our class dropped out by the drop date, but overall Id say 75% of his class failed.
He goes to fast and does simple it down for people, he tells us to practice in the text book, but I thill dont understand at the end of the day if he just went slower and broke it down on how to do the problems that would be great
Show up to class because he explains how to do everything there. Gives lots of homework, its not graded, but is good practice. Quizzes and tests are taken frequently and they determine your grade. Study, study, study!
Professor Conrad's knowledge for calculus is amazing, however his teaching style is not. He skips a lot of steps during problems and grades you ONLY by tests and quizzes. The homework is good practice but not worth any points. If you're not a good test taker then don't expect a good grade in this class. He also has a strong no extra credit policy.
Professor Conrad is amazing. His lectures are very well thought out. He's a very approachable professor, so don't shy away from asking questions! As long as you care about learning the material and get help when you need it, you'll be fine. Tests and quizzes are reasonable in difficulty, the best way to prepare is to do the homework RELIGIOUSLY.
I love him!! Hes amazing. Yes he makes you work for your grade but its better to work for it now and have it easier as you go up the math courses then to really struggle later on. Take him ! he's great!!
An incredible professor who's eager to help you succeed. This was a tough class, but Prof. Conrad was an immense help. I had to take half of this class online due to COVID19, but he adjusted well and I continued to learn despite the difficulty of being an online student. homework isn't worth points but is really helpful for graded test prep.
Insanely kind and cares a lot about the success of his students. Ive never been good at math, but Ive actually learned and retained many of the lessons he taught us. If youre not confident with your math skills, take his class. He is extremely helpful and only wants his students to learn and succeed.
If I could take Dr. Conrad for every single math class, I would. For this online class, we were instructed to watch prerecorded lectures & do homework before class. Class periods were for homework/quiz/test questions. While there is a lot of homework, it's technically optional - though I recommend doing it. You'll be ready for quizzes & tests!
Bless his soul. Hes very caring and understanding, hes aware that many students struggle due to online learning and will be more than happy to help in any way he can. One problem is that he uses shortcuts and does not explain in-depth, but the textbook makes up for it. Hes not evil. Trust me. But be prepared to study for weekly quizzes.
My class had zoom meetings 3 times a week that were optional and for those that didnt come they could watch a recording of what we talked about it class which were always just a could homework problems. He has prerecorded lectures that you watch before the homework and you do the homework before the zoom meeting! 4 tests. Quizzes almost weekly.
A great professor! He prerecorded each lesson and then reviewed them during the zoom meetings. There was a quiz every other meeting so be prepared for that (they were only 3-5 questions long). I will be taking him again in the future. *Note: I actually took Math 002 but that was not an option to choose from.
Avoid this professor, if you want to pass your class. Out of 25 students only 8 passed. He has weekly quizes(12 in total - 12% of your grade), 4 exams(50% ), and the final(25% ). Exams are one hour long but he gives you so many problems that it is almost impossible to finish them for the given time(on average you have 4.5 min for one problem).
He is smart a math, however his teaching style does not ensure that you will understand everything clearly unless you ask. He has a timed quiz every Friday that in my opinion was never enough time - 15 minutes and 3-5 questions. We started with 35 students and as far as I could tell 8-10 remained. The class average on the final was 95 out of 200.
Professor Conrad always responded quickly to any questions I had regarding the class. The material was very difficult but his videos helped make it more digestable. The class is very test-heavy, if you miss one or do bad, don't expect to get a good grade.
If you're a STEM major this is the professor you need to take to be prepared for upper division courses when you transfer.
I dropped his class after a week. Extremely rude & unprofessional. I tried to explain to him why I felt behind in class & he went off on me & told me that its not a valid excuse in the real world. He has quizzes every week that are at least 4 questions & only gives you 15 minutes. Ive never encountered a more unprofessional professor in college.
I love online classes, but his teaching style was a terrible fit for me. First he had a quiz every Tues on all the tricky problems from the last HW, don't login and you get a zero. He didn't lecture, he expected you to self-learn through 15 hours of weekly-study. In class he would just answer HW questions; after all that he would still grade harsh.
I dont know what these positive reviews are on, maybe he just sucks as of this semester because his class is rough. I am an honor-role student the lowest grade I have ever had is a B- and this is my last semester and I have a D rn! He gives us tons of non graded homework that doesnt help for the heavy point tests. This class generally depresses me
If you are planning on taking the calculus series at Solano, please take Dr. Conrad. He is a great professor and his lecture videos have been so helpful in other courses like PHYS 006. Hw is not collected, quiz every week, 4 tests total plus final. I wish he would give us more time during quizzes and tests but he won't. This class was a challenge.
He didn't put much effort into his online lectures. He only talks to you once a week and that is to go over homework questions. Worst math teacher I've ever seen
Professor Conrad knows his math and calculus. He is a great teacher as well. The only thing is that the test are extremely hard. And there is not enough time to finish. I had to drop the class because there was too much on my plate at one time. I did record and keep his lectures though which are still helpful. Would take his class again.
