Very hard working teacher! Come to class on time and get an easy A, yet I received a B in that class last semester. We watch videos and do the research from the internet. Take him and he'll teach you real materials in Geography.
Very helpful, he knows his subject matter and backs it up with interesting video.Mr.Cook will take the time to get you through the class.
He is very clear on explaining the topics required for this course.
Take him- I had Cook this summer and the class was very interesting. Cook will get a little long winded when you get to the "Silk Road" but thats ok his videos on the "Silk Road" are great.
Great teacher. Easy to understand and to work with. Fun class. Interesting Videos!!!

Best teacher ever...only reason the class is easy is because of its clarity! Will help you with what you need! A+ teacher!
Cook teaches this on Saturdays, great class, great times.
Seriously, dudes - you CAN'T be talking about Cook. If by "fun and interactive" you mean useless, disorganized, immature and confrontational then OK! Question: What person on the hiring staff is he related to that allowed him to score his job?
I am in his online class right now.....World History- Its great and he is there when you need him.
I take him online. He is a great teacher. I would recommend him to anyone.
The three of us attend Wayne State in Detroit, we waited all year for Cook to teach this class online at 1/2 the cost and its transferable....he is no bs..straight up and helpful.
Mr. Cook is truly a "dream come true". He knows his history and you will too when you're done. He is the professor to take.
Very helpful and understanding. Would refer him to anyone. Tests are easy. Don't know my grade yet but its less than a B.
Loved this instructor. Syllabus is easy to understand, dialogue with other students (online course), very helpful and will respond to questions. One of the best teachers at WCCCD, he deserves a raise.
Mr. Cook will make sure that you pass the class, all of the exams were online.
I took this class online, not only was it crystal clear and Mr. Cook very helpful; I actually learned something.
Teacher was excellent, I didn't like history when I started the course. I now love history and kept the book so that I could finish the chapters we didn't get to.
he is a great instructor. loved his class.
Loved his online class..Will make sure you pass
Very helpful..
i love his class. i signed up for in class but he required us to take all exams on line. easy and he kept exams open past closing date and if you needed him to reopen one so you can finish or improve your score he did with no hesitation. sometimes he gave you the answers at the end so you can just retake it with the answer key.
He was a horrible teacher. Wasn't helpful at all and was very rude when you asked him for help. He also told numerous of students that they were basically dumb and were not smart enough for his way of teaching and his class.
Mr. Cook is crystal clear and very helpful, exams straight from the book
Very Helpful...
He doesn't like seeing kids struggle and jumps through hoops to make sure they do well. Nice guy, funny too.
I took this geography class online, crystal clear ,direct, and to the point...
Mr. Cook was a very innovated and helpful online instructor; he?s always there for you.
The best online class & teacher in the Midwest...
Wayne State University(Detroit) loses about 250 students a year to Cook's WCCCD online geography class; it was great... I saw him on the main campus, not bad for a older guy.
Ladies an Gentlemen please do not be fooled by the comments that are posted this man is horrible very rude and unclear. He does not respond to emails and does not give his number out you contact him through blackboard!!!! I would not be suprised if he had someone write these comments for him he is horrible DO NOT TAKE I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN
I had Cook in the spring for geography (online), it was a great class and it's true, he is very helpful.
He came to Washetenaw Community College for a semester, easiest A I ever got, simply because he just gave us all A's just for doing the tests and homework without even looking it over and let us punch in our own grades. Yeah he doesnt help in the long run but I don't like Geography and wanted to get it over with. Easy A.
Mr. Cook is a easy A, he's one of the best online teacher's I've ever had. He never was rude to me even after numerous failed attempts to send my paper through the digital drop box, he still was polite about it. Mr. Cook always emailed me back in a timely fashion. If anyone fails this class its because they didn't do the work.
What do you say about Cook…? I never have had an online professor stick that with you the way he does. A lot of work (weekly test); I got my A and he made me smile. Three cheers for WCCCD and Mr. Cook.
AbosluItely a great teacher! I would take him for any class he teaches. If you dont an A, you do not deserve it. IIt can not get any easier. Helpful and kind , 2 thumbs up
GREAT TEACHER. CLEAR, HELPFUL AND SIMPLE.
Awesome Professor! My first online class, and for a summer class it could not have been better. He is extremely helpful and gives you every chance to earn an A, you haveo want it. Great job professor SMILE .i am taking him again next semester for 149!
Great teacher. Fun to listen to even if he is all over the place. Real information not 100% book info, but some reality information. I would recommend him to any one lookiing for a great teacher. Had him both in class and online. Looking forward to taking him again
I just finished up with (Cook) geography 202 online- fall 2012. This was my third online class and I couldn’t have asked for a better class and experience. Mr. Cook is helpful, direct and to the point; Smile Mr. Cook.
He is very easy.....very easy but I thought he gave us too many chances You get two chances every test plus at the end of the semester you can redo some of the test. No need to get the book because he get the test from offline. But if you want to be a lazy person.. Take him. I feel like I wasted my money
I had Cook for World History 152 online; I took this class and Cook on the advice of my fellow students at Wayne State University. Mr. Cook was a no-nonsense/no BS teacher who got the job done.
Awesome professor, He has a more relaxed teaching style which allows you to relax and actually learn insteaad of being stressed out and not soaking up the information, I would recommend him to anyone. plus he tells you to smile often and enjoy the course
Truly laid back. He answers his emails very timely, gave extra credit, and even re-opened a lot of the tests at the end of the semester...no other Professor I've had has done that! Take him for History and/or Geography; you won't regret it, I sure didn't!!
Easy!! I took HIS-151 online. It was simple. Read the chapter and take an open book exam every week for the whole semester. How can a class get simpler than that! U have 2 attempts to pass the exam. And all the answer are somewhere in the chapter word for word! It is quite tedious...but worth it for an easy A! Take his class!!
There was one test a week with 50 questions and they were always tricky and whenever I had a question he made me feel completely stupid. I passed his course with an A and although the work load was nice and light he made for a stressful semester. Take with caution.
Cook is a very laid back teacher, I had him for World History 2 online. He made the class interesting & fun.
Professor Cook is awesome, The professor is really clear with his instructions and assignments. The assignments are weekly exams, mostly take home and due the following week. He will give extra credit if you ask for it. I would recommend his class.
Great class: Professor Cook integrated video into the class, much more interesting and the 2 hour boring lecture is gone...
COOK RULES!!!!! take his class!!!
I am taking Cook for History 249 online. There is a weekly test with generally 50 questions. So long as you read the text book, you can pass all tests easily and receive an A with no problem. However, the Professor is not very helpful. When a student asks for help, he replies and makes you feel like an idiot for asking.
The worst professor i have taken at the wayne county community college he really does make you feel uncomfortable when asking questions. Do not take him unless you don't think you will need assistance from him. I can relate to other reviews on here. He could have made the class more interesting.
Professor Cook had a clear grading criteria and it was a pleasurable learning experience in his American history class at the Downriver campus.
As long as you show up, you are going to pass. He is very fair.
Michigan history class was fantastic... clear cut and to the point; the best summer class ever.
You couldnt ask for a more down to earth class and professor. I like liked the weekly exam concept.
He was a good professor. The only assignment were weekly exams u have 4 days to complete and they are not timed.
He's a down to earth instructor online 24/7.
Weekly test for online class is 50 or more questions, any general course shoule be an easy A or B.
Cook is cool Weekly test is 20 questions, sometimes 10 questions - I never had a 50 question test. No midtem, no final Lives online, will answer questions pronto Buy the book, take the weekly test (more like a weekly quiz) An Easy Peezy, Lemon Squeezee A
This professor is good but he does not solve the students concern regarding exams, so sometimes he makes a mistakes in the exam and he did not agree with that he is wrong. When you email him he did not explain at all all what he write is ''Hello, yes, Dr: Cook, so it so disappoint to receive an ambiguous response from your professor .
He's a "Gem" I needed this class for Michigan State. I meet him at the Downtown campus, not bad for an "Old Guy" Smile
Thank you...
Prof. Cook has apparently reached a point where he just does not care about students anymore. I have had a multitude of problems with him. I am a fair and reasonable person so the first rude email i blew off the three mean ones after tells me something is wrong. I am currently carrying an A in the class and have found issues on tests as well.
This course was Actually interesting & refreshing. Ive spent hours studying & researching this stuff. Get ready to read & research. Each week an exam is due. You will learn so much about history taking this class. So many different kingdoms & dynasties.
Mr. Online teaches a World History @ the Eastern campus in Detroit. What a great class and a enjoyable time by all. Thank you Mr. Cook
Joe Cook is a pretty interesting guy and his class is fairly easy. He worked in Narcotics for DPD for a long time and served in the Vietnam war. He has a lot of interesting stories and insight.
The "Old Man" is teaching World Regional Geography F2F at Northwest for the summer... great class and a great group of people.
Very down to earth setting. Lectures run anywhere between 30-70 minutes, with online exams posted on a weekly basis. Exams are non-timed and generally include 50 or so questions pertaining to the given chapter. There were no midterms in my case. You are expected to be relatively computer-sharp, as Prof Cook's curriculum is largely web-based.
Easy Class and He is awesome. All we have is test every week.I will be taking more of his classes.
I don't' know what Cook did but it was a 8:30 am US history class. It was a pleasure to finally meet the "Old Guy" and have fun in a classroom. I loved his Blackboard site and use of Technology.
The best most down to earth professor Ive had, I have never met someone so interested in their students future and wanting to strive to the best of your ability! Great teaching skills and easy to talk to!
Hes a good teacher
Yes best most down to earth professor Ive had, I have never met someone so interested in their students future and wanting to strive to the best of your ability! Great teaching skills and easy to talk to!
Very understanding and wants his students to be successful. 10/10 would recommend for history classes.
I really enjoyed this class and the format it was presented in. For me, I learn and retain much more through an online class due to the fact you can do the course as an open book. Thank you
1st time taking an online class. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and take a quiz afterwards. As long as you read the chapters that are assigned, you will pass the test with an A. Easy class, enjoyed it and would definitely take again!! :)
Great professor! Easy A class and he gives opportunities for extra credit. Do the reading, take the quizzes after and you will pass. Take him, don't think twice.
great Professor!
If you gotta take history at WCCCD, take it with these man. He's a stand-up guy with a good attitude and is pretty understanding as far as I can tell. Rest assured, I'll be taking more classes with him in the future. I bumped into this legend of a man in the hallway before a different class and he gave me a pen when the vending machine was down.
He's a laid-back professor in Geography when I was his student in Winter 2005. We watched videos about any source of cultures. I wonder how he has been doing nearly 20 years ago and I hope for the best of his teachings and beyond. I have to give him my thumbs up to his success!
This guy is awesome! Just do the little amount of work on blackboard and he will pass you.
I had to drop this class after 1st 3 days because his syllabus, blackboard post, and weekly agendas all say 3 different due dates for the same weekly exams. When I brought this to his attention twice, he just said, "They are open on a continuous basis" and to "follow the due dates" He is rude. His high rating in inaccurate.
HIS255-syllabus was a tad confusing and his responses to email weren't that great, I saw it threw and found that the test were COMMON SENSE and were either all “C" or all “TRUE” if you get my drift, he post all test at the same time and I was able to finish the course early and focus on my other classes, EASY A if you can read and comprehend!
