It was a very hard class! He is too smart to teach this 201 class. He engages the class and is very helpful.
He's an amazing professor. Extremely hard course. You have to do a lot of work on your own.
Honestly, he's kind of rude. Not very helpful to those who need extra attention, though I'm sure if you asked he would help.
The class is absolutely ridiculous and has made me never want to take biology again. He is willing to listen but is not very helpful. He gets too caught up and excited about what he's teaching that it doesn't make sense to the rest of the class. Exams are next to impossible. More than half of my class failed the second exam he gave to us.
His test are way too difficult for an introductory course and you are expected to know a lot of information prior to BIO 201. For example he does a lot of chemistry that a lot of people would not know if they did not take CHEM 101. He does provide extra credit but his exams are way too difficult including short answers
Do NOT take this professor. He makes an intro bio class way more difficult then it needs to be. His tests are impossible with short answer questions that are not covered in class. I wish I never took this professor!
If you have an interest in Bio or if you have an interest in doing well in your education, UNDERSTANDING Biology then this is the course you should take. The class moved at a quick but it is not impossible if you are proactive. The short answers are designed to make you APPLY the concepts. They are hard if you don't understand the material.
He is way too intelligent to be teaching an intro class. If you did not take any bio or chem prior to this class, don't take this professor. He over complicates things, and his tests are extremely hard. He doesn't teach you anything, you're expected to learn everything on your own.
If you want to really understand and appreciate cell biology, take Dr. Covi's class! He is very enthusiastic about the subject and explains the concepts very clearly. Be prepared to really think and study and ask questions. The class is challenging, but it is definitely worth the effort. Highly recommend.
Covi is extremely difficult. For this to be an intro course, he wanted you to be very knowledgable which isn't a bad thing, but remembering general facts about the subject matter won't get you very far. HW was difficult & tests were even more difficult. I recommend going to class. He'll bump your grade up in the end. If you take him, good luck!
Very difficult class, Covi expects you to come in with alot of outside knowledge. Course moves very quickly, going to class and taking notes is NOT enough to get a good grade. Very hard tests and homework. Avoid professor if you want a good grade.
He expects you to do a lot out of class, which is fair for a college class I guess. The tests were tough with a page of short answer. He was always helpful when I had questions, so definitely ask if you have one.
I loved Dr. Covi, he is insanely smart when it comes to his field, probably one of the smartest people I've ever met. He loves this stuff and wants you to love it to. He's passionate about science and does pretty much anything he can to help you learn the material. He's hard, that's true but healthcare shouldn't be an easy A. You should know it.
i'm going to need therapy after this class. do yourself a favor and really think about your life before you take anatomy. i wish i had dropped before it was too late. you have been warned.
He is a very difficult instructor but the information he puts into your head will help for future science classes.
Dr. Covi is NOT an "easy A" professor! However, If you want to learn the material for later use in collegecareer, he's the one you want to take. Tests are the hardest academic test I've ever taken, but he's fair grading them. He doesn't take attendance, but there are participation questions built into the lectures. He also builds tests off them!
Dr. Covi was a great lecturer and provided help outside of the class if you strived for it. The only downfall was that his tests were too hard for an entry level bio class. I enjoyed his class at times, but as a nursing major I would avoid his class if I had to take him again.
If you are majoring in biology then take his class because he really explains and teaches well. He is a very intelligent person and is enthusiastic about the material, but he has high expectations and the level of difficulty for the overall class is high also. He never reviews before any tests and adds more material to the cumulative final.
Worst class I've taken here. If you're serious about biology DO NOT take Covi. Study guides are meaningless, they do not prepare you for the exam what so ever. Exams do not test your knowledge of the material but how you would use it in some messed up scientist disaster in the lab. I learned more from my bio lab instructor (student) than him.
Dr. Covi is brilliant. Could listen to him talk and talk he knows so much stuff. You will definitely need to spend a lot of time reviewing the notes in excruciating detail if you want to get an A in the class. Very easy to work with and talk to. Will do all he can to give you points backhelp you succeed. Did not use the textbook once-made a 97
Covi is one of my least favorite professors. His notes are confusing and he expects way too much from his students. He spends more time lecturing us about why we should be doing better in his class than he does actually talking about meaningful material. He doesn't use powerpoint which I hate & he completely changes question material from old exams
Anatomy and Physiology 2 is in itself a hard class. He uses very advanced language, and you need to spend quality time with his notes before class. Would recommend recording his lectures because he will trick you by not putting importing information in the notes. He is hard, but you have to work harder.
Dr. Covi is such a great Anatomy professor. You have to study a lot but it is Anatomy, no matter who you take, you need to study. Dr. Ballard substituted for Dr. Covi for a month and I was so happy when Dr. Covi came back, he is better than Ballard. He is willing to help you if you need it, and does not try to trick you on tests. Take his class!
I admire how passionate he feels about what he is teaching, but his test are impossible for an intro to bio class. I got a 51 on my first exam and studied 3 days straight. Learning the notes isn't enough, you have to be able to think beyond what he actually teaches you in order to pass the exams.
Dr. Covi loves the subject matter as well as teaching it to his students. Of course, it is important to memorize the basic foundations of the information, but you will only do well if you learn to apply and connect the information. I recommend printing out his lecture slides, which he uploads, and taking notes on them. He is a great professor!
He is an amazing professor and knows the subject really well. He is very passionate about science. His lectures are long but helpful if you understand the material. Test are extremely tough. If you are majoring in science I would take his class. It is tough but he will teach you the concepts and how to apply them.
He's a good professor who knows what he is teaching, but is almost too smart to be teaching it. I often feel like he assumes we know more than we do about topics, so just ask lots of questions and he does a good job answering them. He is extremely helpful if you ask for him and will work with you. He is the professor to take if you're medical/bio.
He's a very nice person, and I liked him, but his class was impossiable. Asking him questions is not helpful because he doesnt explain things simply, he makes things even more confusing. He's very hard to get help from.
People give him a bad wrap for being difficult but he is my favorite professor in UNCW. The tests are difficult but if you put in the work and study you will leave the class with an A and retain all the info. You do have to memorize practically EVERYTHING on the slide but thats how it should be. If you want to pursue science take him. Inspirational
Great teacher, but clearly to smart to be teaching. expects us to know everything he is saying. To pass this class you need to spend 24/7 memorizing the material. VERY hard tests (they'll make you feel like you wasted hours of studying for nothing ). THE LAB WILL SAVE YOUR GRADE.
Dr. Covi clearly knows a lot about the subject matter (biology), but he expects too much for a intro course. His tests are ridiculous, and no matter how much you study you won't do very well unless you're a mad genius. Dr. Covi has crushed my dreams of becoming a biologist. I strongly don't recommend taking him. AVOID COVI!!
Covi is a great professor. However, it's a very difficult class. Make sure to read the textbook, as it's going to be the difference between a B and an A.
I absolutely loved Dr. Covi's class. He was very clear with his expectations. While you definitely need to keep up with readings and make sure you study, I found his class incredibly interesting. His passion for what he was teaching made the class much easier to take. I'd definitely take another class with him.
Dr. Covi is a very tough professor. He should not be a professor, more like a researcher. He's too smart for BIO201 professor, he thinks that you come in knowing everything, however that is not the case. Some of us in his course have not taken Bio since sophomores in high school. Honestly, I would not take anymore of his classes.
Dr. Covi is a great biologist but concerning a 200 level course which many freshman and sophomores take the difficulty level is ridiculous. The homework load is okay however the tests are too loaded and difficult to understand, unless you think on his level. I have always had straight As and this was the first class I received a C.
If you are a genius like Dr. Covi, take him. You'll love it. Otherwise, switch to another professor or die. He is so nice and so intelligent but this is just too much for a freshman/sophomore class!! Tests are crazy. He gets so excited in his lectures but I don't know what he's talking about because he just goes too in depth.
Covi is a genius which makes his class ridiculously hard. His test material comes out of no where and it is overall a challenging course. I strongly suggest not taking a class that has anything to do with Covi.
Covi is a very nice and extremely intelligent man. He is however, WAY too smart for a 200 level course, and I would not recommend taking his course unless you are considering a biology major. You will learn a lot, but will become very frustrated on exam days, as most of the material comes out of no where. Great guy, very hard class!
Covi is so intelligent. The class was tough and the tests gave me the most anxiety I've ever experienced, but if you're going into biology or the medical field I would take his class. You'll never learn more from any other professor. That being said, you need to actually spend time each day studying or else you'll bomb the exams.
One of the most difficult classes I have taken, but also the most rewarding. He is strict and challenge you to earn your grade. He makes this clear the first day of class. If you read the material, learn the vocabulary, and think of how the material relates to the real world you should do great. He is always wiling to help, just ask.
Dr. Covi is the single greatest professor I have ever had. He has a passion for his work that is unparalleled by any other professor at this school and his enthusiasm to show his students the beauty that is science is incredible. Although he is very difficult, If you're serious about a science major I genuinely cannot recommend him enough.
Covi is a very intelligent man who loves his work but I would not recommend his class for people that aren't serious about going into the biology field.
Covi is one of the hardest professors at UNCW however he is by far my favorite. His passion for science keeps his class interesting. He is continuously relating the material to every day events. Covi is constantly reiterating material over time to show how everything connects. The class is tough but worth it. Read the book & take notes on your own.
Lecture time is "question time" expects you to watch videos b4 class I have never had a professor who wastes as much valuable class time ranting about useless material. He is a very very smart individual but does not portray the material in the best manor. I do not like his teaching style at all, tests are indescribably hard. for a 200 level class
Covi is easily one of my favorite professors I've had. He really cares about his students and he wants you to do well. However, I've never had to work so hard in a class in my life. If you don't do the work, you will not do well. I spent 2 days in the library before the first test and I got an A but the class average was a 50%. 3 tests and a final
I can not stress enough that if you are not SERIOUSLY interested in biology as a major DO NOT TAKE COVI. Covi is a good professor, he just expects you to teach it to yourself and have it memorized before class so he can ramble about random concepts during class time with his favorite students. I learn more about biology when i'm not in class.
Test are extremely hard. do not take him unless you are dead set on biology. DO NOT TAKE FOR JUST FOR CREDIT
He was a very hard professor. For a BIO 201 class he made it extremely hard and most people will have to retake. He was the worst Bio teacher I have had. His tests are seriously the most confusing questions, even if you study for days. Good luck to anyone who has him.
Covi is the hardest professor on campus. His test are extremely hard and he is a tough grader. If you have other classes that require a lot of attention (I.E. studying) don't take this class, his class requires a lot of time.
Covi is one of the hardest professors I have been in a class with. There is a lot of information and you will only pass the tests if you go beyond just knowing the information you have to truly understand the topics. I would not have this professor if you only want to take the class for the credit.
Hands down the hardest professor I've had all semester. Exams are extremely difficult! I attended all but one lecture and never even made a C on an exam. Let's just say, I have changed my major based on this class. Unless you are dead set on biology or anything medically related, do not take this class!
not terrible class but pretty difficult and lots of outside studying.
Had him for biology 201. He teaches this class like you have already learned it. You have to teach your own self. Almost everyday you will get an email giving you additional work. Besides the lectures in class you have to watch his online lectures. This isn't a work load of 1 class it feels more like a 3 class work load.
Covi is one of the hardest professors I have ever had, but he truly does care about the success of the students. You have to do a lot of studying to do well. He gives annoying last minute assignments and his exams are extremely hard. He does online lectures so attendance in class is often pointless but still mandatory to receive credit. Difficult!
Dr. Covi is one of the hardest professor I've ever had. His class is sort of like a flip classroom where you do the online lecture outside of class and you do discussions and assignments in class. It is highly recommended that you watch the online lectures and make sure that you fully understand the concepts because the tests are difficult.
You NEED to do the online lectures and activities in order to even hopefully understand what he's saying. Covi is a brilliant man but he is simply too smart to be teach an intro to bio class. Glazes over things and says things that aren't relevant which can sometimes throw you off your train of thought. Hard to know what's gonna be on the exams
He is a really awesome professor! However, his lectures are very complex, and exams are extremely difficult. I learned so much even though my grade does not speak for it....
This was one of the hardest classes I have taken. The tests were very difficult and required a heavy load of online lectures and studying outside the classroom. I wouldn't recommend this class to those who are just looking for credit. He is not a bad professor, this is just a difficult, difficult course.
He expects you to know things that he never taught you and you're never really sure what you need to study to get a good grade on the test
He's a smart guy and knows his stuff but because of that he expects his students to know things that they would have no way of knowing unless they came straight out of AP biology in High school! I didn't and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't keep up or understand anything! So I stopped showing up altogether.
Dr. Covi is the man. He has inspired me in so many ways. He tells you everything you need to know. He is by far the best professor I've ever had. He works his ass off to pass on his knowledge. If you just want an easy science and think you can get by memorizing things instead of actually learning them, you're going to fail. For sure.
Dr. Covi's class is hard but fair. Everything he expects students to know is in the lecture slides. A recipe for success in Bio 201 is to read through the powerpoint/book chapter before class and review your notes after class. He lays out the expectations, and most of the test questions require a good understanding of a multistep process.
This is a difficult class. I's alot of information & you HAVE to put in the work. Dr. Covi won't let you be a passive student. He makes you work, but it is because he genuinely wants you to understand. I've never met a professor more passionate about his course. He is willing to help always and gives GREAT feedback. Extremely smart & caring. 10/10.
I took this class over the summer and sincerely enjoyed it. This class is not inherently easy; you will have to work for the grade you get. Dr. Covi, cares about his students and will help if you ask questions. If you don't have time in class, then go to his office hours. You can succeed in this class, but need to put in effort from the beginning.
Dr. Covi might be considered one of the harder Biology professors but he also one that cares about what he's teaching. The work in the his class is simple to complete as long as you put in the time and effort. This class will definitely make you think and connect items together to better understand them. All and all it's for the better!
Covi is a genius. He does not know how to teach though. His lectures are difficult to understand and keep up with. The amount of information given each day is ridiculous. For a basic level class, he expects a level of understanding that is not possible for students who haven't taken a bio class in a few semesters. Find a different teacher
The hardest class I have ever taken. He is smart but has no idea how to get through to students who don't understand science. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS unless you are willing to put in 12 hours a week of studying. Test are not normal test... extremely hard. There are no study guides for the test.
Hands down the hardest class I have ever taken. Dr. Covi is very smart and knows everything there is to know, but cannot explain that in terms that you can understand. The tests are nearly impossible, the class average out of 380 students was a 62% on our last test.
He's very passionate about what he's teaching & clearly knows what he's talking about, but doesn't convey it very well to students. Honestly, he shouldn't be allowed to teach undergraduate classes. A really smart guy, but a really bad professor.
if you're a hard working dedicated student, don't let the reviews on this page scare you from taking Covi. His class is tough, that's true, but it's definitely manageable- just memorize the powerpoints thoroughly. Covi finds examples that make the complex topics we cover in class relatable to everyday life, and his lectures ARE very interesting.
Dr. Covis biology class was the hardest class that I have ever taken. Unless you are very passionate about biology and are prepared to put in 20+ hours a week studying then I do not suggest taking his class. His exams are next to impossible and he teaches this intro class like a 400 level class. He is a great lecturer but a bad professor.
Dr. Covi is an amazing biology professor. He might seem very tough but that's solely because of BIO 201 being a weed-out class for potential biology majors. If you put a lot of work into his class you will come out with a great score. He really cares about his students' success. If you are not a Bio major DO NOT TAKE COVI
He was a hard professor and if you dont love bio wouldnt take this class. Really made me love bio more then I did. Is really caring and wants you to do good. If you fail in this class its because you didnt put in the hard work not because hes hard. Also would recommend reading before the lecture so you arent beyond confused when hes talking.
Dr. Covi is a great person and a great professor. Material was not easy, but not impossible. There are only 4 exams during the semester (1 of them is the final), but at the end he does factor in other grades so your final grade is not just the exams. Studying will save you, the exams are not easy but he will emphasize this.
Dr. Covi is an incredibly smart guy, who should not be allowed to teach 201. He made the concepts way too difficult to understand, and overall made a lot of biology majors suffer.
Covi is an incredibly smart man, who is almost too smart to teach this class. It was ridiculously hard and ruined my love for biology.
I had no biology background going into this class and yes, it was hard. However, he is bar none the best teacher I have ever had. He will make you think, he will challenge you, and you will feel so proud of yourself for doing well in a class where you are held to such a high standard. If you are pursuing any type of bio/chem career, take Covi.
Ridiculously difficult. During the class, I hated my life and was worrying about failing. HOWEVER, you will survive and if you work your butt off you will pass and be thrilled you took him. His tests are hard cause he uses questions that are not simple definitions and truly apply to real world jobs. He is very approachable outside of class too!
This class is RIDICULOUSLY hard. It's a flusher course for people who think they want to be biology majors. It's insane how difficult the exams are. I had a few assignments, but not enough for an accurate grade rate. The class average for exams were never above 65 with no curves.
Professor Covi is terrible. The tests are so hard and if you don't study as much as he says, you will fail. Do NOT recommend.
Covi is way too smart to be teaching a intro class. He makes the test so difficult and will give you trick questions. He overcomplicates everything and explains things not on the powerpoint in class. Take another professor if you have the chance!!!
Dr. Covi nas a manner of teaching that works well for some and not for others. Lectures are packed full of material. Very funny.
You have to stay on top of every lecture, the material can pile up quickly. Covi is really passionate about what he is talking about which makes lectures engaging, but be ready to work hard.
I went to every class when the semester began. It was so confusing though. Covi is supposed to teach general bio, but instead goes way too into detail- higher level material that is not on your tests. The tests try to trick you. I stopped going to class and learned off crash course videos on youtube- thats when my grades improved dramatically.
Great teacher but you really need to study and learn the information.
Was a decent professor, but the tests are so hard. If you arent very good at memorizing information and applying it to real life concepts, do not take this class
Covi was a really great professor, yes his tests are a little difficult, but he prepares you for them. So make sure you go to the lectures, they aren't mandatory, but they help a lot. Also, don't buy the textbook, you'll need the access code, but don't waste the money on the actual book. I really feel like he prepared me for the future!
Dr Covi is very passionate about what he is teaching and will further explain a topic if you don't understand it so don't be afraid to ask questions. This class is difficult so do not take if it is not associated with your major. He is a very nice person over all and I really enjoyed having him as a professor my first semester at UNCW.
Dr. Covi is a very hard professor. The only grades in the class are tests and lab. Going to class is very important and if I skipped I would have failed for sure.
He was teaching junior level bio in an intro class. He enjoys people failing and claims we need to just try harder. Knows a lot about bio but not how to teach. Take anyone else.
Dr. Covi was an amazing professor, I was worried at first by his reputation as a tough teacher, but he is really good at making you actually learn the material
Dr. Covi is a very tough professor. His lectures very in-depth and sometimes difficult to comprehend. I would not recommend taking this class with this professor. He expects you to know every detail about everything he talks about.
The material is not super hard but his tests are very hard. He makes you feel like you are stupid because he says "you just need to study more" when you spend all your time studying for his class.
Dr. Covi is very passionate about his teachings and he is actually going to ask you to study and be able to apply real-life concepts back to the material. He is very accessible outside of class and wants to help. Go to class, take notes and compare to ppt when you study. You'll be fine. Bio 201 IS a weed-out class, so yes, it WILL be hard.
Dr. Covi is the best Professor Ive ever had. I sincerely wish I could have him for my future courses. The exams are hard, but having that level of difficulty ensures that we learn, understand, and retain the material for the future. My major is Biology and after this course, Im even more excited about it!
Dr. Covi is one of the toughest professors I have ever had. He knows so much about Bio that he doesn't know how to explain the concepts at an introductory level. His exams are extremely detailed and he requires you to know EVERYTHING he lectures about. I do not recommend taking this class with Dr. Covi unless you are extremely passionate about Bio.
Absolutely LOVE Dr. Covi! It's clear he puts a lot of effort into his lectures to make them clear and stimulating. Everything he does he does for his students to grow and learn. No busy work! He truly is the best you can get on every level!
Exams often include questions pertaining to subject matter not covered in the course.
Dr. Covi is very passionate, however, the tests are so detailed that studying does not help at all.
Taking a 4.5-week summer class. Horrible mistake. I spend most of the entire day (10-12 hours) studying and completing the coursework. I always get A's on the regular assignments. However, when its exam time, 90% of the exam wasn't even taught. Class averages for exams are mid 60's low 70's. Other reviews are spot on.
Was very confident in setting up his class as watching and taking notes on lectures outside of class time, then using the actual class to 'work with the material', but the classes never felt productive at all. Tests are extremely difficult and contains some of the most niche parts of the notes. Has good intentions but be prepared to teach yourself
Exams are extremely difficult.
I usually never do these but Dr. Covi truly deserves a good review. Endocrinology is a high level class- It is not going to be easy but Dr. Covi cares about his students so much and will help you no matter what. If I could give any advice it would be to just go to class!!!! Even if its early- just go. And Ask questions! He will never think its dumb
I took this class my freshman year ('18) for a marine bio pre-rec. He lectures a lot & rarely is it found on the tests. He cannot & will not simplify concepts. His tests are designed to fail & doesn't believe in curving despite the average grade being in the 60s. This class is designed to "weed out" students. 0/10 avoid him at all costs
Proffesor Covi was a very smart and knowledgeable person on biology but his lectures were really boring and hard to listen to at times. His exams were really difficult if you didn't watch all the lectures and take good notes and his exams were also a huge part of your grade. Online was a lot easier - not mandatory attendance, and exams online.
Dr. Covi was one of the most interesting lecturers. Overall, he is very caring and intelligent and wants his students to learn for the sake of learning itself. He is very clear about what is expected on his exams and will email exactly what to study. He also gives great feedback and encourages students to continue learning beyond the class.
Bio 201 is the first college level science course for a lot of students and they are blaming the difficulty of the course on the professor. Dr. Covi is absolutely awesome. He'll help you succeed and he's always available. Take Bio 459 if you want to go graduate, medical, PA, etc because he'll teach you skills that'll help you excel after undergrad
Professor Covi frequently related the different course topics back to each other developing the foundation for cell biology as the course continued on. This helped me understand the overarching concepts and details better the more the topics were gone over.
Dr. Covi expects a lot from every single one of his students. The course work is the most challenging I've faced, and by far has the most amount of work. I have never met someone who is so passionate about what he does. Dr. Covi is so in love with the subject of biology which is the best quality he has as a professor.
Dr.Covi is an extremely caring individual and professor, he is always eager to answer questions and help you individually. He gives extensions on homework as long as you try to expand your knowledge. His exams are odd and not multiple choice but he often provides the opportunity to earn points back and improve your test grade.
Dr. Covi gives you all the resources you need to succeed. He is a calm-mannered, inspiring, and obviously passionate teacher. I've learned more from him in my Freshmen year than I have from any other class. If you care about your education, you'll do well and have fun. He cares that you understand the material and provides chances to amend mistakes
If you want a professor who you will actually learn from, take his class, especially if you are a science major. He asks for a lot, but it is manageable and worth it. He always left time for questions and discussions, had in-class activities and diagrams, incorporated different ways of studying and teaching, and always listened to feedback.
Dr. Covi is an amazing person who not only is passionate about teaching, but passionate about making sure we learn the materials. If you miss class, he will sometimes reach out and offer to meet during office hours to go over lecture materials or anything you need extra help on.
The course materials might be rough, but this man is one of the best educators I have ever had the joy of listening to. He will do everything in his power to help you with something regardless of its gravity. while yes the exams are hard, they are only hard if one does not pay any attention to lectures and assignments. only hard if you don't try.
I took this class for the credit but really liked how professor covi taught. As long as you study you'll be fine. His exams were all short answer and diagrams and he did hands on activities to prepare us for each one. I actually understood the content so I would recommend him for any bio majors.
Dr. Covi is one of my favorite professors. His class and exams are hard, but I was expecting that. He sees students as people doing life for the first time and wants to support his students the best he can! Some of his exam questions are confusing and the clarifications he provides for said questions are not always helpful. I would take him again!!
Dr.Covi is an amazing professor who genuinely wants his students to learn and do their best. endocrinology is not an easy topic but i feel like i learned so much that will help me when i continue to medical school. definitely would take this class again
Dr. Covi has been by far one of my favorite professors at UNCW. I was prepared for Endocrinology to be a difficult course, but he teaches in a way where you know he genuinely cares that his students are learning and understanding the material. There is not much homework and attendance is not mandatory, but going helps. Exams are also all written Qs
Dr. Covi is one of my favorite professors. Endocrinology was difficult, but I learned SO much! Go to class, take good notes, study and you will do well. He never made me feel dumb for asking a question and always made sure I understood why his answer was the way it was. You will learn how to understand, interpret, and apply clinical research.
Dr. Covi was a great professor! All the tests were compromised of short answer questions, and we had the option to make corrections are receive points back. As long as you attend lecture, take good notes, and take the time to study and understand the material, you will do great!
Covi was such a great professor. His lectures were engaging enough (for a biology class). His tests were very difficult and worth a lot of points but he gave points back after every exam. Lab is easy and boosts your grade a lot (is worth 25%) Would take this class again with Covi!! He cares so much about his students.
Took Dr. Covi's Endocrinology class and really enjoyed it! He really wants his students to succeed and makes himself available outside of class. There are some tough questions on tests but as long as you know the material and study the pathways, you'll do fine!
Dr. Covi is an energetic professor that will feed you a lot of information. He continually reminds students to put in the work to understand the material outside of class because it is a lot and he cares for his classes. Tests are fairly tough and point-returns help but students cannot walk through this class.
Professor Covi runs a challenging but rewarding class. He's passionate about the material and really wants students to succeed. Attendance is a must, but the resources like the free textbook and study sessions are super helpful. I found Unstuck AI great for prepping for exams.
Dr. Covi is a kind and passionate professor. His upper-level endocrinology course was challenging but provided all the tools for success. He genuinely wants students to learn, and the course is invaluable for those pursuing biology or medical fields. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.
The structure of the course forced me to apply the material in ways most of my other undergraduate courses had not. Not only was I pushed academically but I was supported through every step. This has been the most I have felt like I have gotten out of a class academically and growth-wise towards pursuing education beyond the undergraduate level.
I took the neurodegenerative disease senior seminar with Dr. Covi. He was very kind and cared about his students. The class itself was not difficult, however the majority of your grade relies on presentations. I would recommend this class to a friend who finds the topic interesting and is okay presenting.
I really enjoyed Endocrinology with Dr. Covi. I learned so much I had never heard about, and it was great using my prior knowledge and applying it into different contexts in biology. He taught us how to find reliable and peer-reviewed articles. We often went over data sets, which was something I had never done.
Dr. Covi is a passionate, talented teacher and genuinely cares about his students' success. Though he seems like a tough grader, he offers ample opportunities for extra credit. I couldn't recommend a better professor! Endocrinology was interesting, as it ties into so many body processes and helped me connect concepts from other biology classes!
I had the pleasure of taking Dr. Covi's seminar and enjoyed every moment! He's a fantastic professor and person who genuinely cares about his students. The class was graded on three small presentations in front of about 10 people and was discussion-based, making it a great way to exchange ideas. Very enjoyable & couldn't recommend him more!
hardest exams i have ever taken and i'm a chem major. in class = basic term definitions, exams = lengthy application Q's & make drawings. crazy discrepancy. memorize every single diagram. extremely condescending lecturer. his notes suck. need an A&P background to understand anything. material jumps around. no distinct chapter readings. dont take.
The class was very challenging but Dr. Covi is an amazing professor and really made it interesting. I appreciated a lot of the personal insight he has and how he related topics throughout the course to real life. He helped broaden my perspective on endocrinology. Overall a great professor very kind and helpful!
Dr. Covi was an amazing professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help students succeed. Although there is a lot of material in the course, he makes it very clear what is important to know and always gives helpful advice on what to study and how to study it.He is an excellent professor and I would highly recommend his class.
He is a tough grader for sure. The most stressful course I have taken besides organic chemistry, however, I did learn a lot in his class.
Dr. Covi is an amazing professor! he did a GREAT job teaching you the basics of a complex topic. I recommend taking the effort to understand all the drawings he provides. If you understand the drawings, you understand the concepts. He has a student-centered approach. It taught me about endocrinology, and also how to learn in better ways.
