Csicsila is awesome! He has a great passion for literature and isn't cut and dry like most professors. He is energetic, audible and uses his humor when necessary. Csicsila is great, and you would be a fool not to take his class.

Interesting lectures with a hot and funny professor. Why not take this class? The pop quizzes are the week following the tests. The tests can be tricky but hes fair and if alot of people do bad on question he throws them out!.

Take American Novel with Csicsila. He's engaging, humorous, lively, and so keen on the subject matter that you cannot but help get infected. He'll work with students falling behind, etc. Fair grader. I recommend him without question.

if you leave w/o taking csicsila you will truly be missing out..he's engaging, turns all your stale high school learning of novels upside down and presents them in new perspectives, you just find yourself wanting to be in class! amazing, and oh yeah, HOT!

makes literature interesting and engaging and is interested in students' thoughts- dry sense of humor, but truly a nice, nice guy- besides being extremely hot! Don't leave EMU w/out taking his class!

he reminded me of my high school lit teacher, and thats a good thing. very out going, engages the class in lecture, and pokes fun at many sexual references in the reading. i recommend this guy to anyone taking lit 100

The best teacher I have ever had in college. Very passionate about his work actually makes the work interesting and fun to read. If you can I highly recommened getting this proffessor. As long as you keep up on your reading you'll do fine in the class.

He is very good at keeping you interested. His walking around the lecture hall might get a little annying but its helps stay focused on where he is going. Overall a very good professor. One of my favs!

This was by far my favorite class I have taken so far. He is so funny and good looking so that always helps ahaha, but I really learned a lot from him. I highly suggest his class to anyone!

Awesome, one of the best teachers ive ever had. Seems to really care even in a big lecture hall class. Makes the material interesting by having a sense of humor and using pop culture references. Tests can be a little hard but go to class and study and youll do fine. Oh yeah hes nice to look at too!

totally knows his stuff, and is very willing to help. SHOW UP AT LECTURES - that's the most important part of this class - many test questions refer to class conversation. if you're going to take LITR100, take it from good 'ol joe. oh yeah, he's totally hot.

This class was one of the few I actually wanted to come to...he is SO funny, and he keeps you attention by making jokes and really relating to the stuff. Make sure you come to class tho- its the only way to pass the tests. He was very helpful, and OH SO SEXY!

I've had Csicsila several times. He's an excellent instructor! Show up to lectures, pay attention and you'll do fine!

I agree with the other comments. He is a good professor. I took him in the spring so the class was really fast paced but he didn't overwhelm his students. :)

he was very clear cut and informative about lit. i would recommend this teacher to anyone that still has to take a lower level lit class. he was probably the best teacher ive had since ive come to eastern, hes funny, upbeat and i never fell asleep once in his class! not too bad to look at either compared to others.

Csicsila's classes are easy if you attend and pay attention. He is an excellent lecturer both with keeping students interested, but also by covering important topics.

I am taking this class online, so far so good. Stories are easy reads and he explains everything. There is ample time given for each unit, which is a nice relief after the last online class I took.

Enthusiastic, breaks everything down. Made me excited about Shakespeare.

Csicsila is one of the greatest English teachers that I have ever had. Not to mention good looking too. If you ever have him, remind him that Clymenstra is the wife of Agammenon of the Trojan War and Cassandra was the prophetess princess of Troy...he'll remember that one

Dr. Csicsila is the kind of professor that can make you love a class at 730 pm and wish that you had it every night! He is passionate and inspired and it shows that he wants that for his students too. Really encourages outside opinions and is willing to explore for them. He rocks! And he has written a book, and he is Hot!

I had his online ficion class . . .until I was dismissed for plagarism. Still, the teacher was extremely sympathetic and understanding of my situation at the time. I'm glad he is still human instead of one who follows the guidebook flawlessly. Fun course, easy material and presented well online. I strongly reccomend him for any online course.

Csicsila is a very fun teacher. He knows what he is talking about. He always goes into detail about every story you will read or every poem. He is very enthusiastic about his teachings. I recommend this guy to any and everyone..Plus he is great eye candy! [LOL]

I liked him, but it was pointless for me to go to class because even going and taking notes, the stuff on the test was not what I remembered talking about. He's not hot either, so if that's your deciding factor on taking him.. no.

He is really interesting to listen to. I took note of almost every single sentence that he said about the course material, because his interpretations are very logical and make a lot of sense to me. I highly recommend taking his class. One of the best English professors I've ever had (I have never taken notes as crazy before).

Very good Professor. Communication is +! Tests were challenging for me (I could have studied more). I enjoyed the online course he taught and did find it silly the whole system was in MST instead of ET, however, all due dates were clearly labled as Eastern Time. 10 Units, 3 Tests (somewhat challenging), 3 Papers, Discussion Questions, 10 Quizzes.

GREAT CLASS!! I took this class online and really liked it. He had the schedule posted so we knew what was due and when. Tests were a little hard. I read all the material and lectures and thought they were a little tough. Overall, great class!

He is a great professor!! This is not a bloe off class though, you will have to study and understand all the meterial in order to get an A. I ended up with an B+, but i believe that is because i NEVER once read anything,i would just study the notes i took in class.

I took him for both Lit 100 and 260. He's a GREAT professor, makes things clear and interesting. The only things on the test are what you talk about in class. Offers help and is a really cool guy. TAKE HIM!!

This was the best teacher I've ever had. He is so enthusiastic and really kept my attention. Tests are so easy, right out of the lecture, just don't skip because you might miss a quiz and those really boost your grade. He is amazing. Really cares about the students impression of his class and instructions. He is funny and makes you enjoy learning about whatever he is teaching. You do learn alot but it won't feel like a class. He is truly the best teacher I have ever had since kindergarten.

Joe is an awesome and helpful professor. american renaissance was a blast, and the books were well deserved but not all were great reads. class was relaxed, and he made my first year of graduate school an amazing experience!!!

Very good professor! Definitely one of my favorites at EMU. It's quite evident he loves what he teaches and it rubs off in his lectures. I always look forward to going to his classes even though I don't really have an interest in literature.

Great professor, enthusiastic about teaching, presents unique interpetations, picks great material, and is always VERY helpful. I've taken him twice and the only negative thing about his classes is that the test questions are sometimes confusing. Also, if you can take him in a smaller enviroment, it is usually better.

An American Renaissance course and we ONLY studied Hawthorne and Emerson - hmmm...was more like a ninth grade Lit. course - supremely disappointed.

I loved Csicsila. Some of the material in this class is pretty dry, but he managed to make it interesting. I wish he taught more classes so I could take him again! Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned.

Csicsila is on of the best professors I've ever had. I love literature, but I have a hard time sitting in lit classes and paying attention. I LOVED going to Joe's classes and only missed when I absolutely had to. He's entertaining, funny and a great teacher. It's obvious he loves his job and he's great at it.

Online lit101- I emailed him and it took DAYS to get a response. Easy course, the 3 exams were difficult but the quizzes, discussions and papers were easy. I wrote a paper 5 minutes before due and got a B. (I'm a pretty good writer). No textbook!

This is such a great prof.!! He taught me so many things that I will need in my future. He makes class a joy to be in and has a passion for what he does! Definately recommend him!! AWESOME professor!

This was one of my favorite classes. Csicsilla is one of the funniest and most engaging teachers i have ever had. He made my three hours night class fly by. As long as you do the readings and try your hardest to participate he is a relatively easy grader and will do all he can to help you with the papers and get the best grade. Very approachable.

Everything online pretty easy...tests are okay just reread all papers and what not. Attendance isnt mandatory but if you dont show up you miss some stuff but you can see pass the class...

I had a crush on this guy by the end of the semester. His class was fabulous, very informative, well planned, the information and the class discussions were always entertaining and engaging. Very open minded, helpful, and friendly! He blew me out of the water with some of his theories. Best class of my life so far! TAKE IT!

Great, great online class. Challenging but not ridiculous. All of the assignment instructions are clearly laid out. No research paper! Mostly discussion group work that connects with the stories. Csicsila is very helpful and communicates with the class on a regular basis-returns emails very promptly too. Totally positive experience.

If you love a good drama king, this is the professor for you.....best lit teacher at EMU!!!! i took three classes with him and even though he told the same cheezy stories in all three classes his lectures were funny, and the reading material was good and SCANDALOUS!!!! LOVES IT!!!!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. Extremely good lecture/discussion. Really good at keeping the class alive and relating it to your life. This is the third class i took with him and I love every minute of it.

Best proffesor I've ever had. He makes class very interesting and explains material in depth so you know whats going on. You write 300 word opinion papers fot the bulk of your grade and you have a final. Had him in the spring and if I could I would have him teach all of my classes. Kept me awake and intrigued and goes off on weird tangents.

Really Nice guy. Easy class. He doesn't actually take attendance but go to do well on tests. His interpretations of the readings are really cool. All of your work is turned in online through EMU online. If you read the short stories, go to class and submit work on time it's an EASY A.

He was very funny, and made things relate-able. He is very passionate about literature. He breaks down every story we read, and the tests are based off comprehension and class discussion. I highly recommend going to class, because it is VERY helpful, but you will enjoy your time in class as well!

I just started his American Lit class and I'm already in love with it. He makes a 3 hour class bearable and very interesting. All he asks for is a few simple essays, tests and participation. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who asks!

AMAZING class. I usually don't like lit classes, but his classes are fun and he is always very clear about what he wants you to do. I am defiantly going to take another one of his classes.

This class is awesome. If you have not problem reading short stories and a 300 page novel, take this class. There are 3 exams, 3 300 word essays, and discussions about the story. He is a great professor and if you need a gen ed class take this one. You will not regret it.

Fun and interesting lectures, decent reading choices, and open-minded. Papers are purely opinion-based, no research! Tests can be difficult if essay exams aren't your forte. Very easy to work with in times of need!

I took LITR 101 Online with him. It was an easy class, but you have to read. Every two weeks you have to red two short stories, take one quiz over them, and participate in a discussion thread about them. There are 4 exams you take after completing so many units. There are also 3 essays to write along the way. His expectations were very clear.

I have this class online and it's actually my favorite class. I wish I would've had him in person but the online class is super easy. The readings are really good, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like to read a lot. But he likes to make you think. His lectures online are very helpful and I would take one of his classes again.

I'd select all good tags if I could but I only get 3. By far the best professor I've had at Eastern. His classes are clear and straight forward. You will always know what you need to do and when. He is always available if you need help and gives good advice. Great for professor and if you need an adviser. Super nice guy.

only bad thing is you have to do things on his time. 2 short stories, a quiz, a discussion board every 2 weeks, must reply to all posts on discussions. 3 opinion papers, get 100% on all of them as long as you meet the 300 word minimum. 3 tests, only get one full day to take it, all about the short stories you read. We "read" the great gatsby.

Dr. Csicsila was a pretty good prof. He's very funny. Don't buy book, you can find all stories online. Lot of short stories to read, one novel. 8 short papers. Tests were a little tough.

Love love love Dr. Csicsila! He is honestly one of the best professors at Eastern. He makes the reading material come to life in class and explains it so well. Lit 101 was one of the best Lit courses I've ever taken. You need to write 8 papers on short stories (all can be found online, DON'T BUY THE BOOK) and you will take 3 online tests. The final exam is online. Professional Csicsila is passionate about what he does and is extremely flexible and helpful with students. Take his class!

Great professor who lets you explore your mind and write from the heart. So far is the only professor I've had to be like this and he encourages you to be original and an individual. very positive guy and has cool stories and knows what he's talking about. entertaining lectures and one of my favorite classes.

Dr. C confirmed why I want to be an English teacher. Best teacher I ever had. Caring, friendly, helpful... He lets you go in any direction you feel fit for your essays and helps you make them better if you let him. If you struggle with English, I would suggest writing a draft a week or so early and let him help you make it better. He is THE BEST!!!
