Tests are 300 q's plus essay. It's designed to measure how much you've remembered, so no one is going to get 100%. Graded on a curve, 50% will be an A+. Remembering the name of the DP of some obscure movie only comes in handy for trivial pursuit. Hard.

Not a Professor! He is a video operator. He puts on a tape and leaves. His video clips and handouts are old and worn. He is apparently not aware that DVD's of these films are available. No real film experience (1 credit) and a poor academic. Not as smart as he thinks he is. Tests on inane subtleties rather than the heart of the subject.

He was far and away the worst teacher I've had in my six years at college. He was perpetually late and wasted our time by making us copy material from overheads. For anyone planning to continue their studies in cinema, Joe's 105 & 107 courses (the foundation of all film studies) are invaluable and necessary. The class is really easy IF you use the gifts he gives you. 90% of the questions on the review folder are in the test. The tutor, Ashley, makes everything a lot easier. He does not tolerate incompetence.

This class will take effort, no denying that. But Daccurso gives you so many tools to help you, and the tutor is also really great. I wouldn't recommend this class to someone who was hoping for an easy A, but if you want a very interesting class and some challenge I couldn't recommend this class enough. I'm really happy I took it.

Daccurso is as a professor; he plays abridged versions and short clips of films for most of the duration of the class, while he leaves the classroom. His lectures are him reiterating whatever is in the book and adding nothing new to the understanding of the subject. It's an easy A if you aren't completely lazy/incompetent, but it isn't worth it.

You will not see one movie in this class, you will watch small clips while he walks out of the room and then gets mad when the students are confused on what is happening, be prepared to do alot of work on your own. But he will give you "gifts" in the library and the "extra credit" at the end is the only way to get an A, you should still do it.

Prof. Daccurso makes you work for your grade but does a great job of preparing your for University level coursework if you intend to transfer. His lectures are humorous, he will answer any questions you have, has extensive knowledge of film history/subject matter. Kind, caring, and great fun, but you will need to work hard.

If you can't afford the textbook, like to skip class, and won't put time into this class, DO NOT take any of his classes. Overall, he's pretty cool. He offers tutoring for exams, and if you decide not to show up for them, you WILL fail. His tutor, Ashley, basically saved my life. If you try and put in effort, you will succeed. Coast, and you won't.

I truly enjoyed Cinema 107 with Prof. Daccurso and I plan on taking two other classes with him in the future. If you can’t afford the book and you don’t want to work for your grade, you probably shouldn’t take this class. When available he has provided a tutor for reviewing his material along with study booklets.

This class had me very scattered brained. Studying for the exams is like a scavenger hunt, which actually helped, a lot of cushion for your grade with exams that consist of a bulk of points. Not a movie buff or even a fan but I learned a bit. Daccurso is a great guy and genuine. Wish you the best Professor!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR BOOK AND ANSWER KEY AS LONG AS YOU ATTEND THIS CLASS! Dont miss the review sessions in the library and take advantage of the tutoring. It's not close to a walk in the park, but the preparation and value it teaches you is worth it. If the film industry is your passion, taking this class is worth it! Great teaching skills.

He's irresponsible. I still got an A in his class but you NEED to go to every class. Every test kept getting pushed back so on finals week we had two test to take. a lot of times he waists class time talking about nonsense and then still expect everything in his lecture to get covered. its just annoying when a teacher isn't on top of his game.

this class is pretty brutal. Daccurso's tests are legendary. Don't get me wrong, it's a great class, but you will have to work hard to get a good grade. If you have good study habits, then it should be a piece of cake. He pulls the test questions directly from the study review folders and the handouts he gives. Everything is in the book.

Worst class ever. Freezing old building, he always leaves during his old black and white 70-80s clips and is very very repetitive. Never let's you out early. Teaches you nothing before the tests saying it will 'help' but just wastes time. I have other things to do and all he does it waste time.

He gives out a ton of printed assignments that are handwritten Xerox's. They were of poor quality & very hard to read in addition to hand drawn examples that were mediocre at best. They were also included in tests, some of which looked as a bottle of ink was splattered on the paper & xeroxed anyway. Lectures weren't too bad. Take lots of notes.
