I graduated in 2001. I thought Davey was a good teacher. He may be a little hard, but he brings true meaning to the word 'professor'... THIS IS COLLEGE PEOPLE!!!
ball buster, will make u look stupid, loves himself but is an excellent professor, hard work earned me an A
Excellent professor, he's kind of hard, but if you do the work, you'll do well. If you're planning on going to law school you should take as many classes with Dr. Davey as possible, as he will prepare you better than any other Professor.
Davey is an amazing teacher because you actually remeber what he says. He's a man of definitions so stick with them, b/c he's tough but his class if definately worth the work
Very Hard. Thinks very highly of himself. Did not explain anything just threw it all on us.
I took him for four classes Love listening to his stories. Very hard class but you will learn. He is a Professor that you will either Hate or Love. Good luck and take good notes!
Great teacher-you will remember everything he tells you. Comical. Definition man so remember what he says.On tests, write the defs. and u will get an A, Awesome classes-only person I've learned things from.
Overrall the class was good. He teaches you a lot and you will understand it. There is a lot of case briefs. You have 2 midterms and a final which is only 4 essays.
He tells you want the test essays are on, if you fail them you must be retarded!! Loved his class and will take him again
Davey is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He is interesting, and your feel like you actually learned something when you leave his class. His tests are not easy, and his class requires work, but if you actually want something out of college, take Davey. I'd take him again anyday!!
very difficult. but really challenges you to think (this is afterall college) overall for being a writing intensive class, hardly any papers. his tests are INSANE tho! overall a great professor.
You learn a good amount about law and he's a smart guy but looks down on you if your unclear about something. Not the type of class where kids feel comfortable asking questions. His tests are insane, I would never take him again. He should have been a lawyer and not a teacher.
started off failing, but ended up with a b+, u just have to learn how to study for his tests and you'll be fine. very challenging class, but by far the class i've learned the most in, esp. take him if ur going to law school
one of the best professors in the law & justice department.
tough class if you dont pay attention but as long as you go to class, pay attention and study for the tests then you'll do fine. he's a very good professor, he just expects you to work for your grades which you should have to do anyway.
If your r a slacker, you will fail. Study, do the work and write essays his way and you will pass. If you plan to be a lawyer, take him. The class is 3 exams, if you have an A going into the final you dont have to take it.
Amazing Teacher!! Best Prof i've ever had!! His classes are hard as hell and you have to pay attention. You definately have to work for your grades, but hes fair and you'll learn ALOT!! His test involve alot of writing but if you do your briefs and pay att
I agree with every other comment on this apge. I had Professor Davey in 99 and 00 and got A's both times. I am still using what he taught me. Also, Im currently in law school and his testing and teaching style is very simlar to what Im experiencing now. Im also way ahead of the game in certain area's of Con Law than other students thanks to his classes. I wish I had the opportunity to take him again.
He is one of the best professors i ever had. I changed my schedule for next semester to make sure I had him as my teacher. I plan to take as many classes from him as possible. The class is tough but he will clear up any info for you. He makes you want to be a good student.
His class was very interesting and he definitely knows the material. He can be intimidating to approach if you need help, though. Overall a good professor, I learned alot.
One of the best teachers Rowan has to offer. Had him in '03, '04 & '05, got A's in every class. By far the brightest professor you will ever have, just take excellent notes and you will do well, if you DON'T, you WILL fail
Great teacher and an interesting class. Not nearly as hard as I thought the class was going to be. I recommend him.
Absolutley excellent professor for those who want to learn this subject. Teaches the Socratic method to perfection. Probably the best professor I've had at Rowan.
Davey is one of the most challenging professors I've ever had. He has a pretty good sense of humor but is a little annoying when it comes to sarcasm.. He makes nothing easy and to get an "A" you will work your *ss off. You have no choice but to learn under his direction.
the best professor i've ever had. he has a great teaching style and uses examples that you will remember. Yes, you must go to class and study hard, but if you do, you'll get a good grade. I highly suggest taking one of his classes, you WILL learn alot.
always made class interesting and gives examples that are easy to relate to. you'll work hard but you'll learn alot
Davey was by far the hardest professor i have taken! He will put you to work.Do not take Davey if you are not serious about the course. If you want an easy A don't take him.Make sure you come to class and take good notes!!Exams or insane! He is the first one to leave class so hard to track down for any help.I studied hard and only got a C! HARD PROF!!
Really good teacher, incredibly smart and knows what he is talking about. Tests are hard and mostly essays but if you take notes and remember the important things he stresses in class its possible to get an A. Highly recommended.
Great teacher, knows his material, but if you dont take class seriously or like to miss class dont take him. His Test are very hard
Unlike most professors at Rowan and in the Lawe/Justice Department, Dr. Davey is a truly smart and dedicated academian. Class is not a cake walk, but you will feel smarter leaving after his lectures....read the book like it is the bible and write down everything he saysor emphasizes.grades mostly on exams but is fair with a curve to the class avg.
I took Seminar with Dr Davey a few semesters ago and the material had nothing to do with law and justice. He made us update his book for our senior project which was not based on Law. He is not helpful and very egotistical. I learned nothing except for how much Davey gets away with taxes. Don't take his classes...
I had him at WNEC and to this day he was my favorite professor. I worked hard and he is the only professor I remember making us do presentations in front of the class instead of long papers (which is not useful in the real world). Thanks Prof Davey, you were the best teacher I ever had!
Best teacher I've had in my life. Very straight forward about what will be on the exams. Do the briefs, go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine.
Best teacher I've had in my life. Very straight forward about what will be on the exams. Do the briefs, go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine.
He is very intelligent which brings me to my next concern- why is he teaching at Rowan? His knowledge and complex method of teaching enables him to literally teach at any Ivy League Law School. Knows the law, teaches like a law professor& expects students to participate as they would in law school. BE PREPARED TO WORK VERY HARD OR YOU WILL FAIL!
Extremely hard, does not help, does not offer extra credit. He's also completely pompous and seems to think he's teaching at Columbia or Harvard Law.
Best teacher at Rowan University! I said best not the easiest! Teaches in a way that makes it easy to remember. Go to class, READ the book, be ready to be called on, hand in briefs and you will do great! Make sure to pay attention to his lectures, and handouts because it is EXACTLY what he looks for in the essay part of the exams!
THE TERMINATOR!!!
Extremely hard teacher. Class is extremely dry and not interesting. Quizzes are also hard. Tests are blue books that you need to fill with his exact words. Take advantage of extra credit when you can & try to get an A on your mid-term so you can be exempt from the final.
i made it for one day and peaced. alot of work for each class, harsh grader. took 5 points from a person on the second day because he did not have the hw from the first class (he just signed up that day). belongs at harvard law not RU
he was soo hard.i studied day and night for his class.too much work
got a c in his criminal law class then decided to take him for law and human rights, got an A-....once you get how he teaches it's not that bad....and for people saying he belongs at harvard law....this is college , you pay money to take classes here, get the most bang for your buck...stop b*itching
Comes off as an ass day 1, but hes cool.3 Quizzes HARD. Mandatory HW for every class, but its easy. 3 test which require ALOT of memorizing. He wants exactly his words. Basically tells you what will be on the test though. 4 Short answer, 3 Essays & 15 easy MC questions. GRADES HARD. You'll learn some cool stuff so Take him but be prepared to work.
A brilliant man. Knows how to get his point across. Changed my views in life, believe it or not. Keeps class very interesting and you will learn a lot of interesting things. Is hilarious when he gives examples in class and you really learn a lot. The best Professor in Law at Rowan, in my view.
Knows what he is talking about. Need book on the first day of clas you will get briefs to do every class which he will call on you to read. His tests are based entirely on what he says in class so they are extremely hard. His is very interesting and digresses a lot but you learn a lot about the topic and outside of it. Take him, worth the work.
The class wasn't as hard as everyone says. Do not take it in the summer if you are not planning on spending HRS after class reading. I took it for first time this summer and i got an A. He's really a great professor. AND he tells you what quests will b on the essay part of test- you have to b an idiot to not pass. class was really interesting
When you leave this class you will have learned something, regardless of your grade. Davey explains the issues in class and supplements his lectures with the case law from the book. You will read the entire book, (more than once for an A, and have to show up to every class to do good.) Taking good notes is essential as well.
He is so intelligent it's ridiculous. You need to remember exactly what he lectures for the test (which is a lot of information) but it's not impossible. I would recommend him to anyone because he is so interesting to listen to and gives examples that are hard to forget. Take him if you can!
This guy talks more about his personal experience more than anything. He is not helpful, always wanting to leave right after the class and not answer any questions.
Greatest teacher of all time. The mans a genius, he is the kinda of professor you hope to get at College.
The best teacher I have ever had in my entire life. His lectures keep you interested and you learn a ton if you pay attention. Grades on a curve
Davey is amazing... be prepared to accept a new way of viewing the world and how we interact with others. Make the book your new bible, memorize key lines in his lectures, and always have his book ready in class along with the case briefs assigned regularly. Its hard not to be impressed with his knowledge and stories from his career. Highly rec.
Anybody who says he is hard is just plain lazy. He gives you the terms you should use on the tests. All you have to do is use them and define them in the tests and you pass. You are exempt from the final if you are a certain amount of points above the class average. Lucky for me everybody is lazy and kept the average low. I passed with an A.
This class isn't as much work as people say it is. It's college, get over it. The three quizzes are a bit tough, so you have to read the book more than once. The 2 tests consist of 3 essays, 4 cases, and 20 MC. The final is 4 essays I believe. Take him; you'll get a lot out of the class if you pay attention and care about the law.
Great professor who was very intelligent and taught this very interesting course in a manner I could understand which resulted in high grades on my tests.
have him for law and human rights. very very very good teacher and he even wrote the book required for the class-very well written, clear and easy to understand. however, his tests are very hard and you should attend every single class if you want to do well. brief cases every class and discuss the relevence of the constitution. A+
Had him for Law and Human Rights. He knows his stuff, I'll give him that, and he even wrote the book required for the course. But damn is this class hard! The tests and quizzes are insane and the mid-term and final consist of all essay questions. Take him at your own risk!
people who hate this man are just mad they couldn't handle the work. it's college not hs. I LOVED THIS CLASS. He is extremely intelligent, up-to-date on all current events, & FUNNY. He has the best views on law & politics, I couldn't disagree with one thing he said. he gives you a letter of recommendation to ANY law school if you get an A
I dont think Ive ever met a prof this intelligent b4. Very enlightening on many subjects, not just CrimJ. He knows his stuff, and will write u a letter of recomendation if u get an A. Blue book essays for exams=make or break ur grade. Class is nothing but easy, but this man makes it entertaining! He has so much to offer his students, take him
The first day of class he practically growled at us for not wanting to come early to a class that was scheduled from 5-7 p.m. A Master's course where we covered 4 1/2 topics out of a possible 14 so we could here Davey B.S. Ruined a perfect 4.0 GPA Professor is a fraud who does the bare minimum then hammers u on grading with no explanation. Joke
Law and Human rights is a 400-level course so it'll be difficult from the beginning. The three quizzes are a little difficult, but you have to read the book a few times. The exams are easy because he gives you everything you need to put in the essays prior in class. Just go to class and write what he says down and you'll be okay.
I took Law and Human Rights and Criminal Law with this dude and he's the man. Everyone says he's so hard but it's a very simple concept to understand.. He wants you to write on the exams exactly what he said in class. It doesn't get easier. The material is dry but he gives it to you. Mostly essay exams and quizzes and he gives exemptions to finals
very hard teacher. take someone else if possible
HARDEST CLASS I'VE EVER HAD! I tried so hard and I actually studied but still managed to fail every test/quiz. This man is the toughest grader I've ever met. DO NOT TAKE HIM OR THIS CLASS if it's not mandatory
Davey will push you to your limit. It is a upper level course, and you should expect work from it. Do not take the class lightly. He is a very smart man, hard to talk to sometimes, but make yourself known and show you care/try, and he will notice. You basically get a F or an A in the class. I recommend it, I learned a lot.
Really tough class, everything is based on a curve in the end. Do what he says and you should pas, takes a lot of work to do this though. He wrote the book for the class so you really need to read it and know it. Hardest class I have ever taken.
I took this class in Spring 2013. I did horrendous on my first quiz but only because I was extremely unprepared. If you put the work in and listen, the class is easier than everyone whines about. Take notes, listen, read the materials and you will do fine. It is a 400 level course, I guess people come unprepared!
WORST CLASS YOU WILL EVER TAKE! He calls on you in every single class, there are several quizzes and test. he can care less about your grade. very sarcastic and rude! He wrote the book so he knows everything like the back of his hand. Good Luck!!!!!!!!
Hands down, one of the best I have ever learned from. Actually expects you to be literate, able to figure things out, and well be actual college material. It's not hard if you do the reading and the work and comprehend it. The people who say he is just too hard and difficult are lazy, stupid, and should not even be in school.
Terrible professor, he grades ridiculously hard and doesn't care whether or not the whole class is failing. Brags about kids that have had to take his class three times to pass. If you don't have to take this class don't do it.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Don't run away from Davey by taking this class with a different prof. He is the man. Very witty and honestly the smartest prof I've had in my four years of college. Regurgitate what he says in class on the essay tests and you will do well. He wrote the book; READ it SEVERAL times and quote him in your essays and you'll be solid.
Class is very challenging, but do not avoid him because of this. He is extremely smart and interesting. Definitely read the book because he wrote it. If you do this, and pay attention in class, you will succeed. The tests are mostly essays, but he basically tells you what he wants you to write.
He is, by far, the best professor I have had yet. Also, he is the most difficult. This is because he expects the most out of every student. He is a fountain of information and I loved sitting through his lectures. I found that three hours flew by when listening to him. Please take him, you will not regret it in the end if you are a hard worker.
Great guy. VERY TOUGH GRADER. Only blue book essay tests.
This professor does not care about students at all. His classes are lecture heavy and there's lots of homework. I would not refer anyone to take his class. As he showed me from the beginning that he does not care whether his students understand the material or not. He is not accessible after the class. I wouldn't take his class if it were free!
Lectures the whole entire course. He doesn't create a power point and rarely writes on the board. So you need to be fully attentive at all times. He gives only blue book tests which normally is eh but he's a very hard grader. If you take this course expect to work your ass off and not even do that well tbh
The only problem that I had after taking Law and Human Rights with Dr. Davey was the feeling that most of my professors did not compare to his quality of teaching. Prepare before each class, pay attention, and review material before quizzes and exams. It doesn't take hours upon hours. If you can do those three things, you'll do well.
He's one of the hardest professors I have ever had at the two schools I attended. I did not pass his class but he will teach you what you need to learn. He made the law interesting to learn and his tests are simple if you understand the material. He doesn't change the style of how he tests you so after the first see what questions he asks.
Davey is awesome!!!! I recommend him to everyone who has to take Law and Human Rights. I love his lectures. You MUST read his book. He literally quotes stuff straight from his book. ALL BLUE BOOK TESTS. If you pay attention you will pass. He is very smart and love what he has to say. If you have the opportunity, definitely take him
I had Davey for Law & Human Rights last year and just had him for Senior Seminar (by choice). LHR has case studies (easy), 2 midterms and 3 quizzes. But SrSem was only two tests and a paper that he didn't put much emphasis on. If you take notes exactly how he says them in class and give as much of that back to him on the tests, you're golden.
If you are a Law And Justice Major i reccommend taking him one of the brightest and most experienced professor i've met my college tenure. Pay attention in class and take notes all of the information you need is in his books. A very tough grader but, as long as you study you should be fine. Yes he caused me stress this semester but great experience
He writes his own textbooks. Please read all pages & remember all quotes and who said them as he will be asking questions like this on his quizzes. You are graded on 3 quizzes, 2 midterms and a final-which is 5 essays. Makes you do 2-5 case briefs a week but does not grades them. Take notes and write anything you know in your essays.
