He is very interesting...Not what you would expect from a geology teacher. He knows his stuff and is willing to help with anything. Even if you do bad on his exams, he gives you a make-up take home!! You have to try to fail this one.

He is such a nice nice guy. His notes are on blackboard which is awesome if you miss something. His tests are definately reasonable and he is so understanding. Definately take him if you can.

Seems concerned about learning. Some of the stuff was boring, but he presented things clearly. Talked fast at first but slowed down as the semester progressed.

almost TOO laid back...i only went to class for the quizzes and a few lectures at the beginning of the semester...puts notes on blackboard and stopped using the book. he's a really good guy and a great teacher, but i took his leniency for granted

i didnt think this class was as easy as every1 made it sound. i think it was pretty hard to get a 90% average on his quizzes so MOST of the class is guranteed to take the final-thank god that was easy!

He's an awsome guy! He is basically a genius with what he teaches. When I begun this class, I thought that I was going to die. After the first exam, showed that you'll be fine! He doesn't care about attendace but it's worth goin to class. He gives quizes and it has nothing to do with grades, it's practice and trust me that is helpful! Reccomended!

This class is easy and great. All I have to say is take this class if you want your G.P.A to go up. It is an easy A.

this guy is an awesome teacher. he is very clear and straightforward. sometimes the class is boring, but sometimes there is intersting stuff about volcanos and tsunamis etc. I hate science classes and went in this one fearing it and came out with an A. He tells you exactly what you need to know, and then he tests you on it. no guessing. great class

Hands down best professor. He is very clear and wants you to do good. Very nice and easy to talk to. All his tests have a study guide and the questions are basically the test questions, if you fail his class you have to lack a brain.

Great class for a GER. He had a good sense of humor, and if you studied you would do fine on the tests. Didn't use the text book, but he said he was getting a new one for the future classes.

Just take him. He's funny, no text (but said he may begin using one), no hw, all lectures are on blackboard, no attendance policy, and EXTREMELY REASONABLE - Gave a 16 point scale, told us he knows its a GER and it's supposed to be fun. He wants you to do well. Don't do well? There are makeup tests. No cumulative final.

ALWAYS let class out early. Need to study for tests. There is a makeup after the final which all questions come from previous tests (which he lets you keep). Attendance is not mandatory AT ALL. Very nice guy. Definitely recommend him!!

I took environmental geology, He was very easy and gave you the questions that were going to be on the test. He is a very nice guy and is funny if you are paying attention when he throws in random funny pictures in his power points. He is very clear and passionate about the material. He takes attendance but it doesn't matter and i snot required.

Great teacher, text he wrote for book is on blackboard. Study a few hours for the test and get an "A." Attendance not mandatory but could bring grade up a bit.Take him, I hat science but loved his class.

He is very nice and always asks if anyone has a question. He gives a quiz every class but they dont count and he gives you the answers and then those are the exact questions he uses for the test. I go like once a month and have an A-

I took his 2nd yr seminar class. It was very good. His writing assignments started out simple and built up to more in depth, not really hard just tedious.Gave option for final. Requires a medium amount of reading, maybe about a half hour every night. Very good teacher! Loves what he does.

he is wonderful. if loves what he teaches and it shows. there are a lot of movies that he puts on that can get boring but the class is worth taking. There is a lot of writing but it is not hard. If you do the work you will get an A

doyle is the man. great guy who loves what he teaches. He shows a decent amount of movies but they are always interesting. If you need a science requirement, dont hesitate to take him.

He's awesome. I seriously hate science and was only taking this class to fulfill the nonlab science requirement, but I am very glad that I ended up with this guy. He is always super enthusiastic about what he's teaching, and he is rather funny as well. I didn't love the class, but if I had to take it, I'm glad it was with him.

Environmental geology. I was dreading this class, taking it because it fulfilled a requirement- but it was FANTASTIC. He's hilarious, passionate, really well informed, intelligent,&gets the information across REALLY clearly. I recorded classes and listen to them for fun. Only four tests- quizzes don't count & no homework.SHOW UP. Take notes.GeekFTW

Possible the worst class I've ever taken. No book, no syllabus, no guidelines whatsoever. No blackboard literally he gives you nothing but worksheets. He's passionate but you don't learn anything and he literally rants on about anything but natural science. He uses terms that you don't understand unless its your major. Overall, it was awful.

Very interested in what he was teaching. Makes sure to ask class if they have any input on the subject matter at hand. Quizzes and test are super-easy if you study, and he gives you plenty of time to make stuff up. He is a very kind guy. Great professor.

Speaks Fast. All Multi Choice Tests (4 of them) No Reports.No essays. Makeup Test to drop lowest grade. Labs are fun/easy - Overall cool teacher, not that difficult if you take notes. he gives you an outline of what to know before every test. id recommend just listen closely b/c he goes fast.

Professor Doyle realizes that many students aren't Geology majors and dumbs the material down so that everyone can grasp it. He will accept answers even if it is not the exact wording. If you answer the overall concept in your own words and he can tell that you know the material, he will pass you. One of the best Science professors at BSU.

Doyle is pretty good, homework is mostly every class though, do it because it helps with the exams because he takes the questions right from the homework and the in class quizzes. I liked the class as a whole, and Doyle as a professor, but there are times where you will want to fall asleep. Pay Attention and you will be fine. Reccomended

Boring class but Easy! I managed an A in it! He is very enthusiastic and loves the subject. Gets off on his tangents and you don't always have to pay attention! Just do all your work and go to class for the ungraded "daily quizzes" that are put together into the tests and study those for the tests and a good grade is guaranteed!

Great professor! Lectures are easy to understand, and he will answer any questions you might have. Really knowledgeable in his field and he's friendly and funny. Make sure you take good notes, questions on tests come right out of homework and the lectures.

All you have to do to pass this class is show up to class. You get "daily quizzes" every day that don't count towards your grade and he goes over all the answers to them. Almost every question on the test comes from the quizzes and maybe a few from the notes.

LOVED his oceans seminar. We got to use our notes, book, homework on every test. Tests were only 2 questions long and short response. Super easy& interesting class. if you miss class you don't get the notes on the lectures, in turn you won't have for the open notes tests. Would definitely take him again ps He was a pilgrim at Plymouth plantatation.

I ended up taking more knowledge from this class than any of my other classes. Very interesting class and awesome professor he is super laid back and easy to talk to would definitely take again!

Went into this class to fulfill my science retirement. Joe is inspiring, he generates the interest of most of his students. His lectures are comparable to watching an episode of the Cosmos. He simplifies complex concepts for the ease of understanding. Show up to class, take notes, do what little homework he gives out and you will get an A.

Easy class as long as you show up for tests, (open note), not much homework, (like 5 homework a and it's just basic questions to answer). Interesting although can sometimes get boring, kind of weird, quirky guy but overall pretty good professor and really smart, easy A

Took him for a first year seminar and he was great! He's extremely lenient on passing in homework and has open note tests. You do have to read from one book and answer questions for homework but they aren't difficult questions. Lectures are very interesting and you get to learn about aliens. Loved him!

One of my favorite teachers I had at BSU. Hes a great guy, very interesting. I could listen to him for hours, he's the type of guy that knows everything about everything. The class is super easy, literally just show up about once a week and on test days. Take good notes in order to do well on the tests which are just essays. Highly recommend!!

Joe Doyle is one of the easiest teachers at BSU. If you get a chance to take any of his classes DO IT! Attendance is not mandatory and it is such an easy class to pass. He gives you the exact test questions before the test and its usually essays which are not bad I promise. He really loves his job and if anyone deserves a raise its him hahah.

Really easy tests and his lectures are super fun and easy to follow. He's passionate and very knowledgeable about his field as well as others. The homework is super easy and the deadlines are pretty fluid. Offers extra credit options as well as a couple make up tests. As long as you're great at writing quickly, you'll be fine. He talks really fast

Doyle is one of the best teachers at BSU. He is so accommodating of disabilities and his class is interesting and fun. You do have nightly homework and tests that are all open response, but he makes himself accessible and gives you the questions right off of the quizzes. It's a tough class and there is some Math but he really works with you.

One of the best professors I've ever had!! Super laid back class and an easy A. I hardly ever went to class but kept up with assignments/tests and I still got an A. Workload is not bad at all. Overall, a nice professor and would love to take one of his classes again.

Doyle is an amazing teacher who I would 100% take again. He's kind and has interesting subject matters. He gives HW every night but you can find the answers easy in whatever book he gives. Great for Humanities majors who don't like science or science majors looking for a great teacher.

Doyle is an awesome professor who shows his interest and passion in every class. He always comes to class prepared and knows what he is talking about. I took his 1st year seminar on the exploration of space and it was my favorite class of the semester. He is very laid back and as long as you do your work and pass it in on time you'll get an easy A.

AMAZING CLASS!!! I took his Exploring the Universe class for my lab requirement. Very interesting and fun to learn! You go outside and look at the sky through telescopes, about 7-10 labs the whole semester, 3 tests + Final... he gives you a study guide and everything on the study guide is one the test, so there are no surprises.

Pretty easy class and it was about dinosaurs... what more could you ask for. Your grade is made up of about 11 discussions that you take notes for and hand in, two short papers(3pages) and the final was a 10 page paper that your write a story about a dino of your choosing. (the first two papers help you write the final)

I liked this professor a lot. TAKE HIM FOR LAB! you need to memorize everything on the study guide to do well on tests, but theres only 25-30 things to remember. Labs were fun, nothing hard, everything done in class. He knew everything he was taking about. You watch shows in class.

Great guy! Out of my 5 classes this semester, he was the only professor who I felt properly accommodated students during the switch to online learning in this pandemic. His class is very easy, just listen to the lectures & keep up with the homework. Even tho I didn't pass in some HW and labs, I still got an A b/c I did great on the final.

Professor Doyle is amazing! I was dreading taking my lab science, but I am so happy I took it with him! He really opened me up to this field of science and has a really solid approach to both astronomy and education. Would definitely take another class with him!

A truly incredible lecturer who really cares about his students. He's inspiring and easily one of the best teachers I've had here. The class is interesting and his grading is clear. I can not recommend him enough for STEM majors and non STEM majors alike.

I took this class this semester to fulfill my last two Gen Ed requirements... and Im so glad I did! He really cares about his students and you learn a lot. Theres an online textbook for class so you dont have to buy one and just study for the tests/final and get the homeworks and labs done and youll be fine! Definitely take this guy.

My one and only complaint is that his lectures are mostly pictures and no words so you really have to pay attention to what he's saying which can get difficult. Other than that he's a super understanding and really nice guy. A lot of hw but all very easy assignments. 3 exams and a final. The lecture topics are really interesting as well

Professor Doyle is a funny guy and pretty easygoing. He offered zoom options for most of the semester and offered a make-up exam/make-up labs. He wants everyone to succeed! His labs only ever take 30 mins despite the 1 hr 50 min class slot! He also usually finishes up the lecture 5 to 10 mins early. The material is very interesting as well!

Professor Doyle made physics interesting to an English major. He's a really fun guy and keeps his lectures engaging. He responds quickly to emails and provides study guides for each exam. Labs were simple and only take 25-30 minutes most days.

If you need a requirement for a lab, quantitive reasoning requirement, or both, take this class. It was a super interesting and makes it easy to understand. Assignments pretty much consist of a few questions from the book and some tests. The professor is nice too. Would take a science class with him again if I had to.

This man is by far the best professor I have had. This class was very easy yet still learned a lot from professor Doyle. Very respectful, understanding, approachable, and funny. He views his students as people and truly wants the best for them. Lectures are entertaining, and he posts them on Blackboard after class. Super easy homework. TAKE HIM!!!

Best professor I have had!! He is so passionate about science and history and give interesting, funny, and easy to follow lectures. I am not a stem person but I would take any class with him. 10/10 He will inspire you!!

Professor Doyle is a great professor! Always had very interesting and well-prepared lectures, with short homework assignments and readings. Had a few tests online, which had some old homework questions and were not difficult. Strongly recommend taking a class with him if you get the chance.

PHYS299/The Science of Star Wars is an easy class. Mostly watching star wars and discussing. 4 papers on anything you want; put in some effort and you'll do well. Prof. Doyle is good at progressing conversations; he knows a little about a lot of things. Maybe too lenient of a grader but again the class is for practicing writing more than anything

Dr. Doyle is easily one of the best professors at BSU. He is so kind and caring and always has dad jokes to share with his classes. I took a night class with him and I 100% recommend, he lets you submit late work.

Joe is a fantastic guy who knows his stuff, I have taken as many classes I can with him. Couldn't recommend more, GREAT night class. If you have the option to take explore the universe at night with him, do what you can to take it!

He knows a lot about Star Wars and is passionate about his class. Very easy class, all you do is watch Star Wars cartoons. Attendance is optional, and you definitely do not need to attend in order to pass the class. The only assignments he gives are 4 papers that are short and about anything related to Star Wars. Great class!

Doyle is the best. I took this seminar a while ago then another course w him cuz of how much I enjoyed his lectures. Took the seminar online, so not much HW were assigned. Several tests, tho. Def need to take lots of notes to pass his class cuz its lecture heavy but very interesting & never boring. He's funny, understanding, & I def recommend!

This class was very interesting and engaging. Although lecture & HW heavy, it was very enjoyable & never boring cuz of Prof. Doyle. He's very nice & loves when u ask Qs. He's also very understanding when it comes to attendance & stuff. Show him u care & he will be understanding no matter what. If u r an astronomy lover, I def recommend this course!

Joe is a great professor. If you love astronomy, you will love this class. Take it at night if possible. Every class has a homework assignment due during the next class. You only have three tests and a certain amount of labs to do. If you do the work, you will get an A.

My course was hybrid so we only went to class once a week and he would post online lectures the other day. Really doable assignments usually two due a week, do the reading and the assigned quiz with it and you'll be fine. There are 3 tests which for us were online, and then a final nothing crazy.

You should take this course as an asynch online course if you don't want to/have the time for your lab science requirement. The Labs are built into the main course assignments and he provides a video to follow along with. Super awesome professor and extremely passionate about his teaching.

easiest class ever. doyle is the goat. everything is online you just have to go to lectures and listen to him talk which is awesome because he is so silly and funny but also very intelligent. great guy, great class.
