Exams are very long and difficult. Allows extra credit. Flaky
pretty easy...got B+ w/ very little effort
don't do anything and get a C+
He is humorous and really gives a big curve on exams, so take his class!
gives fat curves but class is boring and his exams are hard...difficult to get an A!
get 6 out of 50 on an exam, get a c-. Would have to go to extraordinary effort to do poorly.
Gives fat curves. Do not even have to show up for class nor do you have to study. The class is boring.
Fill in the blank tests. Doesnt remember what he covered, but is funny. Tests hard, but curved.
fill in the blank tests...hard tests but BIG curves...funny man...recommend anyone =)
Great guy. Learned alot. He is the easiest Business Law teacher in SJSU. Fat curves but hard tests. If you want an A gotta really know the material other than that if you want to just pass take his class. :-)
Very difficult class to understand. Go to class to learn more about Business Law. He knows a lot about law and can answer any question you may have. Uses great examples to help you learn the material.
This is a very good teacher, however his tests are very hard. Study and go to class and you should do good.
Excellent teacher. Comes across as tough, but in reality, is a softie. Very easy to approach. Very thorough with the subject matter. A pleasure to have as a teacher. I highly reccommend.
even though people say that this teacher grades "easy" reality is he is a really good teacher with good intentions. He explains business law to people who don't know law very well and thoroughly. lectures are well put and funny. denfin. recommen
Was an easy teacher who had nice curves. However administration got a hold of his teaching style, and there is no more nice curves. People actually got D's and F's this semester. No more free rides. Have to work the butt off for a C.
His lectures were average, and the class material was pretty boring for business majors (better for law majors), but his curves were INSANE! You could get a 5 on a midterm and still pass!
He's pretty funny. He has all sorts of stories to tell the class. He actually tries to apply concepts to real life situations. Loved his curves. Overall, class is easy. His tests are fill in the blanks, so u just have to know the terms.
Loved this class. The guy keeps you interested with his stories and cases. Tests are tough for most, but like everyone says, huge curve. If you take notes on his lectures and are familiar with the terms, you will be on top of his curve. Funny Individual.
Very interesting course. He keeps you entertained with all of the cases that he's tried. Great teacher, very knowledgable.
seems like a very unhappy guy. But he is very knowledgeable in law. And knows about lots of stuff. Talks about purty interesting stuff and keeps you into class. I had class at 7:30 am. and i was awake, unless i was hung over or somthing.TestsRcurved
He knows what he's talking about. The tests are a hard form of fill in. KNOW VOCAB IF YOU WANT AN A! He gives you a hard time if your even a minute late. Nice guy & Interesting Class.
He is an excellent teacher who keeps his class interested. He grades on a curve, is fairly easy and very funny. Don't be late to class.
Excellent, smart, knows what he is doing. If you do not read or come to class it is a dificult class. However, because se he is so good at explaining things the class can be very easy if you attend and pay attention.
Law isn't my favorite subject, but his lectures are interesting and informative. He gives lots of real world examples and does an excellent job explaining the concepts. His tests are HARD but he curves generously. Do your reading, pay attention, and you'll do fine in this class. Do not be late.
Knows his material, but doesn't have an organized lecture and is confusing when he speaks because he constantly makes mistakes in word choice. I.E. he'll use one law term when he means to use another, and you the students don't know the difference unless they have read the book. Killer final, but curves.
GREAT PROFESSOR!!! This guy is really interesting, knows his stuff cos he practices it everyday in his own law firm, fair, helpful, can lecture for 2 hours without boring you. Wish he taught more classes at SJSU!
Okay so the guy is nice, but he is SO BORING! All you do is sit and listen to him lecture ON and ON (about 2 hours) about law, without any powerpoint slides, hand outs, or papers. SO disorganized, and eventually people start to fall asleep after an hour of him lecturing. He does curve hard on tests, but thats the only good thing about this class.
Class only has 2 tests which are 50+ fill in the blank. No other assignments. Dworak is a lawyer and an equal opportunity hater. He likes to gives examples from his work. He's not a bad teacher and if you put some effort into it you can get a good grade and learn some stuff.
Great teacher. A no B.S. kinda guy. Teaches fairly quickly and doesn't stop or slow down unless you let him know. Tests are challenging but not extremely difficult. Just know the terms! Gives interesting stories pertaining to the material during the course. It's thanksgiving now and we've only had one midterm. No HW, no quizes, only a midterm so far
His class is relatively entertaining, tells good stories. He doesn't waste your time on BS and seems like he understands his students, and cares about what we do. If get to know him, and are a good student, he'll also help you out with job contacts. A real good guy. (his tests are different and hard but his curve is better than anyone's).
great class
Not very organized but overall interesting class. Use real life examples & apply to class content relevance. Curve very generously.
Okay he is very nice even though he might seem to be intimidating at first. His tests are hard because he usually doesn't spend much time on writing them. It's easy to pass if you study and take GOOD notes, but hard to get an A because he is not responsive and his tests can be very confusing. Take him if you can afford to get a B at best.
Damn this teacher was soo kick back. I loved this class I got an A on the first exam kinda tough if u dont. Anyways i never showed up to class after first exam and took the final w/out studyin and still ended up with a A- becuz he lets u argue ur case.
Great class
He is incredible! His lectures are very easy to follow along with because he supports everything with real life examples. I thought I would hate this class (Especially considering it was at 7:30am!) however, Mr. Dworak made it as interesting as possible. Tests are SUPER easy too. I wouldn't take it with anyone else!
Likes to talk about El Caminos and how he gives his kids more in allowance than he makes teaching. Lawyer by day allows for lots of examples and stories. Two tests, fill in the blank. No homework, no quizzes, no papers, no projects, no problem.
Really cool teacher. Tells great and interesting stories relating to the topics. Easy to listen to. Test are fairly easy if you take good notes and actually read the book. He is also pretty funny because of the his stories and examples. If you have chance take this teacher.
This class is very fun, even at 7:30 in the morning. I'm able to stay awake. It's not easy, though. Even though I got a really good grade, the tests are fill in the blank of about 75 answers to choose from.
He's a great teacher! I took him at 7:30am and I never fell asleep in class. He keeps the material interesting and helps explain the terms so that you understand them. Tests are hard, (the material is hard) but he's a really good teacher! Take him if you can.
He talks fast but you will get a lot from this stories and experience. Tests are simple m/c, T/F, fill-in. An easy A while giving you a chance to learn more about what you really want to know. The book is not required but It was essential for preparing for the exams. I even got the 9th Edition and did just fine compared to others.
He is a very nice guy, talks abit fast though so a bit difficult to take good notes without a recorder. Overall this was an easy class and he uses helpful/interesting stories to explain difficult concepts.
This was a great class. The text is guide and best information came from lectures. Clear, concise and entertaining. Real world examples and he treats you as an adult. If you need to be spoon feed or want to be read whats in the book this class isnt for you.
This is a HARD class BUT Mr. Dworak is an amazing teacher! His lectures are crystal clear and he tells you exactly what you need to know. He covers A LOT of material each class period so attendance is vital! He gives you a list of the terms you need to know for the midterm. Always available to clarify any confusion!
Annoying lecturer- answers his own questions! Grades on easy curve, no hw just midterms and final. memorize terms on his cheat sheet and you will do fine. A bit intimidating and condescending.
My favorite class by a long shot. Learn alot Clear and entertaiing. Attend class and follw instructions and get a good grade. If your lazy and do ot attend it will be hard and confusing.
A professional Lawer and a Super good teacher. It's not easy mostly because the subject material is boring. But, he makes it fun, and includes people in the class in his examples. Always let out class at least 1 hour early. If he cancels class, he emails you. He seems stern but he's still a little fun. I'd take his class again.
this class is not easy but doable. there might be two midterms (depends on how far u get) and 1 comprehensive final. u should attend class cuz he give terms that are not in the text. the midterm and final is fill in the blank. he grades on an easy curve. i recommend him just be prepared to memorize 50+ terms for the midterm and 80+ terms 4final.
Best class I have ever taken at SJSU. Honestly this guy is a MUST if you are business major. He is a lawyer, so he actually KNOWS the material instead of studied it as a major or something. He is very very intelligent. Mid terms were fill in the blank, same with final. Final was a little hard 100+ terms on it. TAKE THIS GUY!!! best class at S
Take the class. You will learn what business is like. This guy covers material by going over what's important. If your a good student you will do great. If you not so good but try you can do well. Only prof I've had that wanted us to learn not just listen to him
Knows everything. Most profs read from text. He relates difficult concepts to his real cases or real life issues. Like the insanity defense in the criminal law part. The lecture covered the the shooting of the Mayor of SF and the first gay supervisor. I just read about the movie coming out and the prof was right on.
dworak knows his stuff. real lawyer in san jose, knows the business. if youre interested in bus law, this class is easy. he teaches real stuff and explains it thoroughly with real examples. you NEVER need the $200 book. he let us vote for either 2 tests, the final project and a final or 1 test, project and final. COOL PROFESSOR. TAKE FOR BUS80!!
Took the Friday 7:30AM class. He definitely makes the law easier to understand with real life examples and stories. I missed like at least a third of the classes but manged a B+ with the midterm and final. I missed the final paper too. You'll learn alot from him since he knows his stuff
Took the Friday 7:30AM class. He definitely makes the law easier to understand with real life examples and stories. I missed like at least a third of the classes but manged a B+ with the midterm and final. I missed the final paper too. You'll learn alot from him since he knows his stuff
If you want to take bus 80 for req, Professor Dworak is your choice. Although law is very boring to begin with, he tries to explain all the fundamental stuff with real life stories and examples, which makes it easier to understand. You will learn lots from him. 1midterm, 1 final, and 1optional paper.
VERY EASY teacher, but VERY INTERESTING. You can go to class or not, the tests tend to just be definition memorization and knowing the context for them. No homework. One complaint though is that since he's so busy lawyering, he's VERY HARD to get ahold of. I didn't get 4.0 because of this class, and I have no idea why (he never responds to emails).
Like what others said, the class wasn't too bad. The test can be a bit stressful though. I took his once a week night class, so from time to time tend to get lazy to drive back to school, and ended up skipping it part of the semester. I ended up with a B+ so it wasn't bad.
This class is hard, but he makes it fun. He's a lawyer by day and a professor by night. He applies real-life examples to the material to help you understand it better. You will need to memorize 50-60 key terms for both midterm and final and know how they are applied. The tests are in story format and you have to fill in the blanks.
I learned an unbelievable amount in his class unlike most at SJSU. His exams are a "gimme". I don't understand people having trouble with them. While the class was long and nothing but lecture he kept it interesting, involving, and entertaining. He actually instilled in me an interest in law. Take him whenever possible!
he makes the class go by easily. gets sidetrack while explaining terms, but usually with pretty interesting real life examples and stories. midterm and final are based on terms that you have to memorize. it is a lot of memorizing and he is sometimes pretty last minute with the terms, but overall would def recommend him
Cares about students. You learn a lot if you attend class and are motivated. Best class at SJSU yet. Furlough made it difficult, but it was still great.
Class difficulty was moderate due to a lot of legal jargon but he had a lot of great stories and examples and would take the time to explain things when asked. Did not use text book; furlough days made it difficult and we only went to class 2-3 times a month. Two exams and one paper.
Hands down, my favorite professor. He really knows what he's talking about when it comes to law, uses a lot of personal experience/ examples to clarify the terms you need to know. Makes class go by very quickly and is quite funny as well. I never used the book until the midterm and final since it was where I found the definitions. Take this class!
This guy is awesome! He is one of the few SJSU profs that actually has experience in what they teach. This guy is awesome. Take him, he is fun, somewhat easy, and very helpful.
The last review got it right. Great class.
AWESOME professor. He's a lawyer by day and just teaches the class for fun. Really knows what he's talking about and uses examples he's come across to explain everything. Doesn't make the class stay all 3 hours and exams are pretty simple if you pay attention. HIGHLY recommended
So Awesome! He's a lawyer who teaches some classes for fun. Really wants everyone to do well, and doesn't make you do any work he wouldn't have wanted to do in college. His lectures are pretty good too because he's funny. Don't take anyone else!
Professor Dworak is amazing! He makes all his points comprehensible. Props to him because he teaches this class for fun. Prof. Dworak is a laidback guy and he always interacts with the class. Hilarious teacher that makes learning business law fun. However, his tests are a little hard, but I would still highly recommend taking his class.
He is a great professor! He lectures with examples so that the concepts are more understandable. We had take home midterm and test and one paper. Going to class definitely helped to understand the information. Overall made the class much easier because of good teaching!
He is very experienced. It is very useful that he uses examples from real life.
Best class and best teacher I know of at SJSU. Entertaining - Knowlegdable-Helpful
Wonderful teacher. Clear, interesting, intelligent, entertaining. Best at SJSU
Just took his midterm examination it was tough even so he his a great great professor. Funny clear good stories about law cases
Had him last semester. Best class ever at SJSU. Great teacher.
You learn a lot. Great teaching style. Tests are very difficult but are graded on a curve so it works out well.
There is not a better class at SJSU. What you learn is amazing
Prior to this class, I didn't know anything about business law. Professor Dworak made everything so much more interesting and fun! You don't even need the book. Just go to every lectures and take careful notes. Make sure you know the CONCEPTS (not just definition) for exams. I attended every week, took notes, reviewed for exams, and got an A-!
No one should miss this class. Very information. Wonderful knowledgable instructor. Helps students learn.
I loved this Professor, maybe because he looks and reminds me of Jay Leno. The class was awesome! Tests are hard, but he grades on a curve. He was very informative and gave great examples. I would recommend his class to everyone! You're missing out if you don't.
Regarding the last comment, I do not know if he looks like Jay Leno but the class is as entertaining as watching Jay Leno and you learn a bunch. Wonderful excellent professor and class.
Great class! 2 hours straight of lecture, but he always let us out 30-45 minutes early. He could tell when you've had enough! Don't procrastinate on the take-home midterm, it took days! That and a take home final, along with an optional paper. All in all, a low maintenance class. No text book necessary! He provides you notes and summaries!
This class is different from a traditional college class because of the way he lectures. There are two midterms, a project, and a final. Tests are definitely fill-ins. However, he makes his tests really LONG and impossible to finish. I would recommend only if you are taking lighter load because you NEED to make time study for his class!
Smart, smart guy. Great lectures. Amazing professor. Love the way his class is set up. lectures and test. straightforward, informational class.
I can't argue about the easy grading. There is a large percentage of students that do not do well, as well as students that do well. This is a lecture-based class, and most of the work you do by memory or by studying the text.
Tests are terrifying, but they are designed to challenge you in a reasonable way. Just make sure you attend, pay attention, and read every now and then to get an understanding of what is going on in class. In the end, the course is all up to you. If you do your best, you could reach an A. But, it is a very difficult, yet immersive, course on law.
Simply wonderful and educational class
Great Class! Don't have to attend but it is fun to listen to him and learn about law the fun and interactive way that he likes to teach it!Attended maybe 25% of the meetings and ended up with a B.1 in class midterm for sure, 2nd midterm is tentative and could either be take home or in class. Final is tentative as well. 1 project and 0 assignments
He does not take attendance but not showing up for class is not a good idea. The lectures are the best and the exams cover what was covered in class. This guy makes law fun and entertaining.
One of the few classes in business where you learn a lot about stuff you will use in the future. Could not get enough of the lectures entertaining and often very funny. The only bus. 80 to take.
Most Profs just use the textbook and are boring. Not this guy. He uses the textbook as a reference and tells you what you need to know in your career. He is the best of the best. Wants the students to excel and learn.
Great professor. GO TO CLASS! He goes over info not in the book, including CA-specific law. Uses real life examples to make the material interesting and easier to understand. Emphasizes real learning instead of just passing so you can use the info later in life. Tests can be a bit hard but he curves. Not much HW, just 1 term paper.
The dude is great. Best class and instructor I had at SJSU. Very relevant stuff.
TAKE DWORAK! Literally the best professor I have ever had. He is amazing. Teaches you actual stuff that will help you in life and uses examples to help you understand. Tests are tough, but if you show up to class and take notes you will do fine. JUST GO TO CLASS. If you don't wanna go then don't take his class. Amazing professor.
Dworak uses real life scenarios/examples which makes very lectures interesting and entertaining. I learned so much about law and courtroom proceedings from him! Study hard for the exams as they are challenging and dependent on your analytical skills of vocabulary and concepts. Grades on a curve too.
Joseph Dvorak is passionate about teaching business law, and makes the topic interesting. This guy is the long lost twin of Jay Leno- he's also just as funny! His lectures are entertaining and a must because some of his tests are based on the lectures. Book is very helpful as well. His tests are challenging but grades on a curve. Highly recommend!
The guy is the best. Funny but informational. Amazing he can make law fun. You got to go to class.
Make sure to attend his useful class lectures. Most of the test material comes from what he mentions in class, so if you don't show up, then you're somewhat screwed. Overall, he has 2 fill-in the blank midterms, one cumulative final exam, and one term paper where you reflect on your day at a courthouse. Thankfully, he grades on a curve.
Makes law interesting. Understands and related to students needs and concerns. Best lectures I have ever had. Hands down this guy is the best
Take him if you want to actually learn. Professor Dworak knows what he is talking about. There are few main things if you want to pass. ATTEND CLASS!! almost all of his midterm and finals are from his lectures. You must understand concepts, you can't just try to remember terms. It's an easy class as long as you listen to his lectures...!
Excellent. Glad I took the course. The material is hard but Prof Dworak makes it easy. Love his lectures. Real life stuff. Best course I ever took.
One of the best professors I've had in this school. He gives you the idea behind the law and always has a great example that makes it easy to remember. Midterms consisted of fill-in-the-blank essays with a word bank and were open note until one of the students was caught cheating. He then changed it to closed note for the final. Great lectures.
Fill in the blank midterms. He gives you a word bank before the exam and you can have it with you along with definitions (open note, not open laptop). He is really funny, and tells great stories in relation to law. He is a lawyer himself and talks about his experiences as well.
Hands down. Best instructor ever. Very informative.
If you don't attend every single lecture, you will not pass this class. If you don't take notes on every single thing he says, you won't pass this class. Exams are FIB style, open notes, open internet but people still get D's because they don't attend lecture. This man's teaching style is so amazing I have a huge crush on it! Super great prof
My all time SJSU favorite professor hands down. All you need to do is to listen and you will be entertained and you will learn a lot of great and useful stuff. He not like other boring professors.
Since he is a real lawyer, he has a lot of great stories to relate to whatever concept he is teaching so that's good. But his exams are really tough, even though he gives out a study guide. I enjoyed his lectures but I wish he had spent more time reviewing before the tests. Overall he is a good lecturer, but his class requires a lot of work.
THIS CLASS IS WHAT COLLEGE IS ABOUT - LEARNING USEFUL INFORMATION YOU NEED IN YOUR CAREER. IF YOU JUST WANT TO GET BY AND ARE JUST PUTTING IN TIME THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE ONE OF THE MANY EASY KNOW NOTHING, LEARN NOTHING SJSU CLASSES. THIS PROFESSOR WANTS TO MAKE YOU BETTER. HE WANTS YOU TO LEARN AND TO BE PREPARED. BEST CLASS EVER.
Best business I have had at sjsu. Informative practical. Best information from lectures. He does not need a textbooks he knows his stuff and can clearly explain the law.
He is caring person. He gave them information about the law. The grade is curve to avoid to have them struggle. Take him.
Go to class. He explains everything. I wish my other profs were as great as prof Dworak. Love love love the class.
Absolute best business Professor I have had @ SJSU thus far! He teaches using real examples so that the concepts are easier to absorb & remember. Super smart guy, a real practicing lawyer, and so funny! He is well known & respected on campus & in the community. Glad I took his class. Grades on a curve & seems genuine to students needs! He rocks!
Wonderful class. Best instructor ever. Makes complicated material easy. Used the textbook but tells you what is important and what is not so you do not waste time reading meaningless stuff. Relates well to students. Really cares.
Tests are extremely hard and almost impossible. Gives a list of vocab but even so the tests are hard!!!! Lectures were hard to comprehend.
Loved this class. Relevant to your career. You need to listen and if you do the class is simple.
Professor Dworak gives great lectures. He uses a lot of real world examples which made the material interesting and a lot easier to understand. Tests are open notes, so take good notes and you'll do fine. He also curves the exams and is very practical with his expectations. His lectures have a lot of energy which kept me engaged and awake!
Very interesting class. Lectures are extraordinary. Funny informative. Best of any business class I have taken. Test are hard if you dont come to class and pay attention. If you do they are a piece of cake.
Without question the best hospitality professor. Covers the law in a fun and funny way. Not boring. Cares about students and what will happen as the start their career.
He is a very good professor. Likes to accommodate for students and wants to see them succeed. 2 midterms, 1 final. Suppperrr easy and long as you study the terms. He let us use notes & laptops/phones while taking the exams. He just wants us to understand the material not kill our grade. DEFINITELY take his class, and get to know him so he likes u!
If you're looking for a business-law professor, TAKE HIM!! He goes over EVERYTHING that will be on the upcoming exam. 2 midterms & a final (can have an extra midterm if the class wants it), plus a small 25 page essay of your experience attending court. SHOW UP TO CLASS AND WRITE DOWN TERMS AS HE PRESENTS IN ORDER & "stories."
Makes law easy to understand and apply. TAKE HIM but go to class. I tried to read the TEXTBOOK but it made no sense. We he explained it was simple. Also his class helps with others. There is a lot of stuff my HR prof covered but it was confusing. Prof Dworak covers HR legal issues and makes it simple. BEST EVER SJSU class
Joe is one of the best, if not one of the best professors at SJSU. He is a lawyer so he is very experienced in the field he is teaching about. Most people enjoy his class because he explains all of the concepts with a story or a scenario whether it is fictional or one of his cases in the past. He is a fun guy and gives good life advice. Take him!!!
Dworak is the BEST!!!!!!!! You got to go class and if you do its an easy class because he KNOWS and EXPLAINS EVERYTHING about the law and more importantly what you need for a career. TAKE TAKE TAKE him!!!!!!!!n
I've read comments about this teacher being amazing and I don't know why. Yes he talks and jokes with his students, but the lectures are heavy and only 2/3 exams and 1 report. No extra credit, no quizzes. So if you do not understand all the terms and concepts you might have a bad grade.
This professor was very helpful, always was looking to help students out. His lectures were also very informative.
One of my favorite courses! Professor Dworak makes the information really interesting and comprehendible. I absolutely recommend taking his class, one of my favorite courses and professors at SJSU
Amazing Guy and even better teacher
He was an awesome resource and always very honest and respectful to students. One of my favorite professors.
Professor Dworak is a great lecturer and the content is always interesting, engaging, and well prepared!
Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his class. Highly recommend
Easily one of the best professors Ive had yet. Lectures are always entertaining. Dont expect the class to be easy but it is so worth it. Dworak makes the class amazing
A wonderful professor who makes you work for it. Each time I came into a lecture he had something relevant to bring to the table and left a lasting impression with each lecture. I would highly recommend taking this class for access to his experience and insight. Class was lecture heavy, heavily depends on you paying attention and taking good notes
Professor Dworak was the best Professor I've had at SJSU. His brilliance is not only in understanding what he teaches but being able to give his students passion about the material as well. He challenged me to be a better student, and I actually had fun doing it. He cares about his students and listens to the opinions of the class. Truly a gem!
1-2 midterms (gives the option to take another midterm but will have a cumulative final) + One project. He's a lawyer from Berliner Cohen so he knows what he is talking about. Will write the terms on the board, but gives the definition and context really fast. Gives you the text written in his own words so you don't need to buy a textbook.
This is the low down. Most I learned at SJSU. Tests are tough -grading is not. Go to class and listen and get an A because he is that good. Students who want busy work or high school dont like the class He helps you and cares but treats you as an adult not a baby. I have read all his reviews whiners and grade grubbers are those that ding him
The beginning of this course was amazing. Professor Dworak would lecture for about thirty minutes while engaging the class in the conversation and then we would get to rate and drink beer. Then corona happened and class wasn't so fun but Dworak did his best to not make this class stressful. 100% recommend for in person class, if online eh.
Covers a lot of interesting material. Great information and presentation and preparation for your career. The best class for learning important info. Dont expect a lot of busy work like other hospitality classes
Professor Dworak is the best. His classes fill Up fast for a reason! He is very understanding of all students and his goal is to make sure we succeed in SJSU and beyond. Law was uninteresting to me before I took this class, and he made law as exciting as an NBA finals game 7 that went to overtime. 10/10 best class/Professor Ive ever taken.
Dr. Dworak is incredible. He is very understanding especially in this covid era. Dr. Dworak cares about his students and wants them all to suceed. Beer appreciation sounds like an awesome class on its own. However, beer appreciation and Dr. Dworak as your professor is a win win.
I didn't want the class but it's now my all time favorite. Prof is talented. I read textbook stuff -no idea what it meant and was lost. He cleared it up with simple, understandable real life Silicon Valley cases which are really really interesting stories. Listen and you get the material without difficulty. It's kinda magic.
Dworak is a really good lecturer and helps you learn a lot about laws and litigation. He usually bases his classes and tests on his lectures. Make sure to make note of every example and definition he describes because it will be crucial for the midterm/test. You don't have to read if you pay attention to his lectures but make sure you go to class.
The most accommodation professor, and most dedicated to his students. He understands what it is like to be a student, and to be a student during hard times, and having to work. He also still cares about how that affects his students. He ensures that you have all the information necessary to pass the class no matter how much work that means for him.
Professor Dworak is very knowledgeable about the subject he teaches and explains everything clearly. His quizzes are a bit hard, but he gives multiple attempts to better our understanding and learn from what we got wrong. He is accommodating and easy to reach via email.
Professor Dworak is a caring professor he helps his students out. You have multiple time to take the quiz. Hes been one of my favorite professor. I recommend to take professor Dworak. Easy to talk to and care for you openly to speak with.
The most helpful and informative prof. at SJSU. Makes difficult material simple and makes the work fun. Knows his stuff. The best. Cares about students. Contacts you directly using his is law firm's email so you are immediately informed of important info. Great communicator. Reads exams and he grades you not a computer program.
Overall the class wasnt all that hard as he did give you multiple attempts for quizzes and graded on a curve. BUT, he did not know how to use canvas at all. All material was emailed, my inbox was filled with hundreds upon hundreds of emails with lectures, syllabus, info, projects, etc. Very hard to keep organized and made me a little anxious.
Professor Dworak was great. He is willing to work with students to meet their needs to get the most out of the course (especially with virtual learning). It is a difficult course, but he just wants to make sure everyone passess and has an adequate understanding of the material.
Took his class almost a decade ago, and hes one of the only professors I actually remember to this date, His material and lectures are still remembered and used daily. Hes a very successful attorney and entrepreneur, Definitely a role model and someone I recommend to take a class with. He teaches from his heart, thanks Mr Dworak!
Two hour-long audio lectures, wrote to us a lengthy rant email about why Powerpoint lectures are a waste of his time, and was stubborn about not wanting to use Canvas. I understand that he has a lot of experience and credentials, but sometimes his action comes off as elitist and snobby. PLEASE learn how to use Canvas like everyone else.
Professor Dworak is very knowledgeable in his work and it showed through his lectures as he was able to make difficult concepts understandable. Although there were some technical problems with Canvas, what I appreciated about Professor Dworak was that he was always willing to work with you and fix any errors as long as you reached out to him.
Took the class online so it was a little difficult because he's not the best with canvas. However, he is an amazing professor! He is a practicing lawyer so he takes his experiences and knowledge to apply to his lectures. Make sure you take good notes because the quizzes and tests are based on the little things. He is also super accommodating.
Professor Dworak is great! He gives many real-life examples for the topic we are learning and listens to students' concerns. He posts his lecture slides and he provides textbook lessons (which is amazing). His quizzes and exams are multiple-choice and are related to the lectures so take good notes. Overall, very knowledgeabl and caring professor.
If you're considering taking BUS80, take this professor! His lectures were amazing and the chapter summaries he provided supplemented them well. There's no homework for this class but there are chapter quizzes. They are based on the readings/lectures. He also has a midterm/final but they're not too hard if you keep up with the class.
The Spring HTM 107 course was the best course i've taken in 4 years. I agree with everything the business students say. This guy is the best.
Professor Dworak is the best AND sweetest professor I've ever had. He went out of his way to make sure that everybody was not stressed about deadlines for homework by extending it to the end of the semester. Also, his class exams were graded on a really big curve where no one can fail (lowest possible grade is a C). Take his class if you can!
Subject is difficult but he makes it easy. He explains the legal concepts by cases he has had. The tests are very, very hard but difficulty is adjusted in grading. Captivating class. Every class I learned more in one lecture than I did all semester in other classes where prof just read the text and used slides
His lectures are interesting but they can derail and make it hard to follow/take notes on. He's disorganized and doesn't follow the textbook. He's caring/flexible and says he only teaches "what students actually need to know". You CAN'T FAIL since he HEAVILY curves test grades(curved 12/115 to C-). Hes knowledgeable but doesn't know what hes doing.
I am really glad I took this class! Professor Dworak is an amazing lecturer with lots of industry knowledge. He gets you very interested in the subject & works with you to make sure you succeed in his class. There is not much homework & the exams are open-note. I would definitely recommend to take him as your professor!
Really, really interesting class. Learned a lot. Great teaching style albeit lecture heavy. Flexible.
You want this professor, he is extremely helpful and understanding if you have any issues or trouble with any assignments ranging from homework to tests. I've learned more from his test than most of my stay as a student at SJSU. Avoid him if you want, just know that you will be missing out on one of the best classes you'll have ever taken.
quizzes are diffciult but you get many attempts. if you pay attention in class you can learn so much since he speaks from his personal law experiences and gives practical scenarios.
Best class ever. Come to class listen and learn. Explains difficult concepts in a clear and simple way. Great instruction
My favorite class. Smart guy. Funny. Makes law fun. Text not so great lectures make up for text. Learned more intetesting stuff than all other classes.. Heard is HTEM 149 class is best interesting and informative & a blast. His client paid for an after semester celebration at the Guildhouse .Noo cost to any student.
If you need to take an elective course take beer appreciation!!! You genuinely learn a lot and it is a super fun class. Also Joe is so nice and smart, you learn so much just being around him.
This is best of best classes. Lectures outstanding. The focus is on career guidance not textbook memorization. Cares about you. Wish all classes were this great.
It really helps if you come to class. He is very interesting and a great instructor.
My favorite professor by far. There is nothing for you to do but weekly quizzes + paper and taking notes in class. GO TO CLASS this is the only way you will know the material. Test are online but there a lot of questions asked on lectures in class ! 100% recommend to take his class hes great and gives amazing examples bc he is a lawyer irl.
Don't believe the 5-star ratings he gets! The professor is VERY disorganized and most of the time, the class can't even figure out what requirements he wants us to fulfill. The syllabus says this, but his canvas announcements say another. Try to avoid him as your professor if you can!
This class is the best. I learned more than any other business class. You should come to class. It was great!
Nicest instructor I ever had. He kept me informed and his lectures were interesting very much so and he was funny. I would take again.
Everything on tests covered in class. My sec was 7:30am and I was lost cuz i I was missing class. You skip class your are lost. what is covered is the real world not in a book. after going to class it was simple. not an online class. A learning class. Prof answered all my questions online and in class. Very nice. Learned a lot bunch.
Going to class benefits you. Great stories in lectures that relate to real life situations. Professor Dworak cares about the students.
Lectures were hard to follow since he rambles on and on about material that won't even be on the quizzes or midterm. Even if you attend every class, good luck getting an A, it's going to be difficult. No study guides, no slides, and nothing to follow along with. And the final will drop your grade by a lot if you don't do well.
Amazing professor. Be sure to pay attention! Exams are tough!
You can tell Professor Dworak is one of those teachers who genuinely wants students to get something out of the course. He is not driven by the grading scale, and is understanding when it comes to needing accommodations for an assignment. He lectures in a way that is inviting for students to participate and is always open to questions/conversation
Im going to end the confusion. Great professor, BUT very hard. To have the best chances on the quizzes & exams, show up to class. He creates his own questions based on lectures. Weekly quizzes, 2 midterms, a court project, a final exam. He genuinely wants you to learn and apply it to your future. If you REALLY want to learn business law, take him.
Wanted students to pass the class, and did whatever he could to make it easier, like giving 3 attempts for quizzes, midterms, and the final, but at the same time the class itself was difficult. Did not use lecture slides, only talked the entire time which made it difficult to follow along and know what was part of the lecture and what was not.
Very passionate about teaching and wants you to pass. He does not use slides during lectures and just talks the whole time. He makes his own quizzes and exams. He creates questions based on what he says in class, but will often have questions on concepts and specific examples that he has not yet gone over or that deviate from what he has said.
don't. just don't.
pls pick another class
Best professor I have ever had at SJSU, class was truly what you put into it. He was a tough guy but very fair
Students aren't putting enough effort in this class, and be wary of the low-rated reviews of students arbitrarily complaining, they're not genuine. If you want a realistic approach, he's willing to help you succeed in this class. Getting an A isn't easy to start with in college, as you have to put the work in.
how is this man still at a 4.3
Good professor.
Hes a good professor. Very lenient and old fashioned.
Professor Dworak is demanding, but if you put in the work, the class is rewarding. Definitely use unstuck ai and the free textbook to stay on top of the material.
Super chill. If you like business and law definitely take his class. Weekly quizzes are somewhat tough but open notes. Super lenient.
He is kind and has decent slides. The one problem I had was the lectures. He often rants and it can be hard to discern what to write down/memorize.
Definitely a person who likes to joke around so be prepared if you're sensitive. Quizzes every/every other week based on lectures, fairly easy. Have to show up to class (once a week) in order to get the full participation points unless you wanna buy the beers on your own outside of class but that'd be expensive. Usually try 6-8 beers each class.
His lectures can be a bit boring and lengthy, but he gives good examples connecting them to the real world. Attendance is worth points, and you have a weekly quiz to do on your own at home. Overall, not a bad class and professor and can be fun if you're passionate about business law.
Class is usually a lecture where he chats a lot but it's fun to hear! Then goes into beer tasting where you fill out a form for your participation and then discuss it after a few mins. This class is fun and he is knowledgable on beer. About 12 quizzes but you have 2 tries to take it. One paper but he isn't a tough grader. 1 online final
Lectures consist mainly of him talking, which does get a bit boring and long sometimes, but he's very passionate and funny as he tries his best to make business law interesting. He does use slides as much as he can, quizzes every week, does do participation points, 1 court project, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Honestly, I promise it's not that bad.
My Favorite class. Text is boring and unclear. Lecture explains stuff. Good dude! Loved going to Court for assignments.
He's a decent professor. His lectures are very confusing because he goes off topic a lot and he speaks extremely fast so pay attention closely. Creating a class server was helpful. Quizzes throughout the week no homework assignments. One midterm online One final in person Both open book. QR code tracks ur location for attendance.
Great and chill professor. You can easily pass this class if you do the one 15 question quiz every week (can easily look up). 1 midterm 1 final and 1 court project, which is basically a small paper about your experience going to court. Everything's open-book. Just come to class for participation points- qualtrics checks your location. Very easy A.
It's a lecture class, so it does feel long, but he does his best to make it entertaining, so you want to learn. He is very accessible if you have questions; he is more than willing to answer. This class is clear and direct. Honestly, my favorite teacher! love his class
