Brother Anderson is a fun person. His tests are kind of hard. None of the review questions are on the tests so you pretty much just have to guess. He is nice and you can go and talk to him about anything. I would defiantly take this class from him!
Bro. Anderson is a great person and an entertaining teacher. His tests are difficult compared to what he goes over in class though, so you have to be careful to study hard. He is willing to help you out if you have questions. There's homework due before every class period, but it's not usually too hard.
Brother Anderson was my favorite professor this semester! He is great at what he does and is always willing to help his students out. I would definitely take this class from him over again- he's amazing!
He was such a nice professor and helped out if you didn't understand, but his tests were really hard and that's what hurt my grade. Go to open lab and you'll do good in the lab part of your grade.
He's a great guy and very nice, but I really didn't feel like I learned all that I wanted to learn from his tutoring and lecturing. Granted, he's new, but there are several other A P courses that are a bit harder, but will help you understand much better. Anat and Phys is a hard topic, take it from a teacher that will help solidify the material.
Bro. Anderson is a really great guy. He's pretty much everything you want in a professor but the course kinda sucks. The tests are difficult but he made the class bearable.
Bro. Anderson is really a great teacher. He is interesting to listen to. You MUST put in the time for the daily quizzes and the exams. There are 4 exams throughout the semester and they are all pretty hard. Use the study guides that he gives out sometimes and you will be ok. He gives out extra credit all the time. Take advantage of it!
He's super chill and is very considerate of all his students
Bro. Anderson was so helpful and wanted to make the class applicable to everyday life too. He kept the class entertaining and lively and still taught the material. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities too. He's seriously an awesome teacher!!!! Highly suggest taking Anat and Phys from him!!!!!
BEST Anat & Phys Teacher. He truly cares about your success. He is ALOT easier than some of the other anatomy Professors. He offers alot of extra credit; & I LOVE the way he has his class assignments set up. There is lab & Lecture quizzes each class period. The class is hard; but if you put in the effort, he makes it possible to get a good grade.
Amazing teacher. The class is super hard but he makes it really interesting. Take this class from him and you will love it. A ton of studying and time is required to get a good grade in this class but he teaches the class so that you can understand it! Seriously favorite teacher here at BYUI so far. Just study study study and you will be fine.
he is a great teacher who is super fun. uses power point but it isn't death. his opening comments were the best and he was a very clear speaker and loved to joke.
Brother Anderson was extremely helpful! He is an amazing teacher. He is a chiropractor by profession but is very passionate and knowledgeable about the course information. You will NOT regret taking this course from him! I promise.
Brother Anderson is amazing. He really made it possible to get an A. He makes sure you knew what to study and is always willing to help when you don't understand something. He gives a lot of extra credit and study guides. He's also super funny and makes class fun. I definitely recommend him!!!!!!
Very Interesting class! Bro Anderson is willing to help you with anything if you talk to him. His homework assignments are a little weird because the questions he asks are confusing and vague. But overall he is a pretty good professor.
He loves to tell stories, answer questions, and keep the material interesting. He doesn't want his students to be bored. The homework is simple, the quizzes are a pain, but the tests are super easy. Love this teacher!
Great teacher. He makes it easy. No assignments besides reading the material before you come to class. He gives in-class quizzes everyday, but they are worth like 2 percent of your final grade. Tests are difficult, but he gives you a study guide, and it tells you exactly what you need to know. If you study, you'll do great.
I REALLY LIKED HIS WAY OF TEACHING AND HE GENUINELY CARES ABOUT EACH STUDENT. HE WILL HELP YOU TO SUCCEED NOT FORCE YOU TO WANT TO QUIT.
He was an a good teacher, but the lecture tests are REALLY hard.
Best anatomy teacher! He explains things very well, and he really wants you to succeed. If you prepare, you'll get a good grade. His test curve is very generous- there are 55 questions and he makes your score out of 50. It helps a lot. And he totally deserves his chili pepper! I highly recommend Brother Anderson!
Science is not really my forte, but Bro Anderson made it really interesting.. I actually enjoyed his class (thats a first for science). He's really cool, and makes things easy to understand. Just make sure you really study your readings, and take notes in his lectures and you should be fine. His tests are on a little bit of everything so be ready!
He is awesome! Always willing to help and you can tell he wants us to succeed. Gives the most extra credit of all the A&P teachers. The study guides are great and help a lot. Makes things easy to understand and makes class fun. I would take him for any class.
Brother Anderson is the best professor I've had at BYU Idaho! He is fun and you can tell he loves his job. I've taken fdsci and bio 264 from him, and would highly recommend him for any class! He is always willing to answer questions, and as much help as your willing to ask for he's willing to give. I'd take ANY bio/science class from him!
He makes it possible to do well. You just have to put in the time and effort. If you don't, you will pay on the exams. Great teacher! He cares about his students and will help them immensely. Also, he's great at answering questions. Like I said, he makes it very possible to do well. You just have to do your part. It's college.
Humor is not lacking. I love taking this class even if it is only a foundations class.
SUUUUPER hilarious! he likes to make jokes all the time in class and shows awesome mormon messages the start of every class! he is the best!
I loved Brother Anderson! Not only was he a great teacher, but he was such a great person in general. Made me want to be better. Hes also really funny. He's always giving kids a break. Like if they missed an exam he'd let them retake it or if there's a concept i didnt get he would personally teach me until I understood. Hes amazing!
Brother Anderson is great. He explains things really well and he is able to connect science to religion. He always starts the class with a spiritual thought. Tests are not that hard as long as you pay attention in class and take notes. There are short essay questions for his exams, but it's always on material that is covered well in class.
Brother Anderson is a great teacher. He started every lesson with a spiritual thought and always answered every question during class. However, this class was way hard. It was 2 credit class, but we had 5 exams, presentation, and long homeworks. The teacher is great, but the amount of work is too much.
I really enjoyed anat/phys from Brother Anderson. It is a difficult class, but he makes it possible to get an "A" and be successful. He is always willing to help you and will review your exams with you after you take them. I would highly recommend him.
Brother Anderson is hilarious! He is very clear on what he expects. You have to attend almost every class has a clicker quiz. There is a lot of work involved but it's easy.
Brother Anderson is so passionate about what he teaches. His excitment and enthusiasm made me look forward to class! There was no text book, just had to read articles online and answer questions. Pretty easy. He would review before every test. Tests were straight forward. Very helpful & opened every class with a spiritual thought! Favorite teacher!
There are no words to describe how amazing Brother Anderson is! He is by the far the BEST teacher I have ever had. He cares so much about all of his students and is SOOO willing to work with you if you are willing to try! If you have a chance to take him, don't miss that opportunity. He has a lot of quizzes but it helps you learn better. GREAT GUY!
Brother Anderson is a boss! I love the man, and you will too! The only thing I wish is that we actually had homework instead of reading assignments, because the tests in my opinion are pretty tough. Plan on knowing how to apply what you learn if you want an A. Really though even though it's tough he rocks.
I really enjoyed anderson's 7:45-8:45 class WMF. this class requires about 8 pages of reading before each class, and you have a 5 point clicker quiz on that. He drops the 2 lowest clicker quizzes. He also gives you 6 questions so you can miss 1 and still get 100%. The tests aren't that bad, easy actually compared to shaw and hunt. He drops 1 test.
Easiest Anatomy teacher at BYUI. His tests are easy. He gives you a simple study guide for the tests. And he makes lectures really really interesting. My favorite class I've taken in college. One recommendation: go to tutoring after class. Helps alot
Take my word for it - this prof is amazing, and I'd take every course from him if I could. He's funny, spiritual, smart, blah blah blah. The tests won't be easy if you don't do the textbook reading, and it'll really help if you show up for class, and if you're still struggling he's always willing to help. Super great.
Great Teacher. Extremely nice and informative. I learned every point in the class and never felt bored or rushed. He still stops me in the hall when he sees me to ask about my life. Very cool guy. This is the class you're looking for!
Bro. Anderson is my favorite professor,he knows SO much about what he teaches and will help you anytime you need it. He is always in his office ready to help students. Although he is GREAT teacher he is hard and if you want a good grade you need to study a lot in there, but its worth learned so much in there!
Brother Anderson is definitely my favorite teacher that I have had at BYU-I. He takes time to get to know his students and he genuinely cares about them. I took a very hard class from him but that class would be just as hard with a different teacher. So switching teachers would not make a difference. I highly recommend you take a class from him.
Brother Anderson is such and amazing teacher. He takes time to make sure you understand everything, and if you can't cover your question in class he is very willing to answer it in his office hours, after/before class, or through email if he can. You will get exactly what you put into this class. Work hard and you will get what you deserve.
Brother Anderson was my favorite teacher this semester. He's super chill and really knows what he's talking about. Also, he cares about his students and takes time if they need help. You still have to pull your own weight and work hard, but it's possible to get an A if you deserve it.
I chose Anderson because his ratings were so high on this website. Someone said he curves and gives extra credit. THIS IS NOT TRUE! He is a good teacher, but he does NOT curve and I wish I had taken a teacher who curves. Class avg 1st exam 60% with no curve. Tests ruined my 4.0 and I put over 30 hrs a week wno social life. I need to retake.
Brother Anderson is an amazing teacher. His tests are tough, but everyone takes the same test no matter what. The way he explains things is so simple. He will go over things with you until you are comfortable in it. He goes above and beyond to help his students out. I would highly recommend. Plus I think he's hilarious.
I learned a great deal about science and religion in this class. I felt like I understood everything talked about in class. The test however that I took said otherwise. I failed one of the two test but still managed to get an A in the class. Brother anderson is always prompt when responding to emails.
Brother Anderson is amazing! I just got done with my first semester and he made what could have been an overly difficult class a fun and understandable one. He really cares about his students and their success!! I would definitely recommend taking classes from him.
Brother Anderson is a great professor! Very clear when teaching subject material. He does not get off subject very often. This guy will motivate you and inspire you to work hard. p.s. don't expect this class to be easy.
Learned a ton in this class! You have to work for your grade and attending class, doing readings, and tutor sessions were an essential to pass! Anderson was really helpful and good at explaining concepts to students, but tests are extremely hard!
He was one of my favorite professors. His lectures are amazing and he is so open to questions and allows students to input in his lectures. He is the toughest grader in the biology department (doesn't curve or allow retakes) so if you are trying to get into that nursing program I would suggest a different prof that curves so you get a better grade.
Very good class! It is hard, but i studied a lot and went to tutors. Brother Anderson is very concerned about you as an individual and wants to help where he can! I went into his office many times to get help and clarification on subject matter. It helped me a ton in the class. He knows the material and explains things well!
Bro. Anderson is great, he really helped me to understand things. He is also a pretty funny guy and you can tell he cares! He expects participation but really wants you to succeed.
Bro anderson rocks!!!! Obviously the course is super tough but bro anderson does a great job teaching the course. He gives great options for extra credit. He rocks!!
Very interesting lectures. Funny guy. Make sure to read and learn all you can because tests cover much more than what is said during his lectures. He ends lecture earlier than the allotted time usually.
Bro Anderson is great! He explains things really well and gave me a new perspective of science. He is passionate about what he teaches, but not too crazy. He is funny and teaches with confidence and clarity. He has good values. He really cares about each student and he wants everyone to succeed. If you need help, talk with him and he will help.
I took this class because Brother Anderson was teaching it and is an amazing teacher. The material was hard. If you aren't good at anatomy and are looking for a random science class this class might not be for you. Lots of anatomy.
The way bro Anderson teaches fit my learning model perfectly, and I believe many others as well. He makes you want to work for the class, and is always willing to help you succeed. One of the hardest classes I have taken, but I'd take it again.
Brother Anderson is very smart, The class is a tough class, but if you work hard you will get a good grade. You need to use up all the opportunities in this class; study, go to class, and go to office hours with brother Anderson, because he will clear up confusing material in lecture. He is always willing to help, also do the reading.
Bio 265 L hybrid class. We had to go to a lab each week to take a quiz but we were able to choose the day. He always made time to meet to go over material you didn't understand and go over the test with you. You can tell that he really cares for his students and wants you to understand the material and pass the class, but you have to do your part.
Bro. Anderson genuinely cares and helps in anyway he can. But as with any course it is ultimately up to you to learn the material. He holds you to that. This was the first semester that the course was on 3.0. So the quizzes were a mess. He was great about accommodating for that fact. The course is hard but he does everything he can to help.
Brother Anderson is an amazing teacher, he teaches to what is going to be on the tests and is very good at helping students to understand the topics. Bio 265 is a difficult class but he is by far the best teacher to take it from. He really cares about his students and the topics he teaches.
I did not like him mostly for the reason that he would on a regular basis go over the allotted time for class. I took a hybrid so we actually only met once a week, but I had other classes after his! There was a lot of homework, but I do like that he provided study guides for when we had tests coming up.
Loved Brother Anderson! He was hilarious and made coming to lectures enjoyable. No homework, just exams and they are difficult. If you don't study you're asking for an F. Good thing is that he curves a lot and is very fair. Definitely take 460 from him.
I loved Brother Anderson so much! I was really nervous about taking BIO 264, because of what I have heard about it, but he has made the class a lot smoother than I ever thought. He doesn't waste time talking about pointless information during lectures, but talks about things that will be on the test. AMAZING TEACHER!
Brother Anderson is an exceptional instructor. He always starts class with a spiritual thought that applies to the lesson. He uses examples that are easy to understand. The course subject is difficult but he answers our questions and makes great use of class time in explaining the material. I am definitely taking another course from Bro Anderson.
Brother Anderson is a great teacher. He cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. Lab is open all week, so you go when you when you want to, study the models, and then take a weekly in-lab quiz when ready. Proctored exams are hard. Make sure to study on the models and cadavers in lab or library as much as possible.
Brother Anderson is one of the best professors I've had at BYU-Idaho. He always makes himself available to students and wants to help you learn and succeed. He does offer extra credit but you definitely have to earn it. He always shares a spiritual thought at the beginning of class which I liked because most professors don't do that.
This is a tough class, but Brother Anderson really knows how to teach it in a way that students understand. He is so willing to meet with and help students and is very responsive to emails, which I really appreciated.
I took Bro. Anderson for both BIO 264 and 265. These are tough courses so you won't find a professor that will give you an easy A, but Brother Anderson is as close as you will find. Only teaches things you need to know. Most of your grade comes from tests, which are curved so the average is a 75. I wish he would teach all my BIO classes.
Loved Brother Anderson!
Brother Anderson is an amazing professor! One of the best professors in the biology department! His lectures are great and he pulls most (if not all) of the exam questions from them. Constant repetition of the lecture and lab material is the best way to study for the exams. Prepare to work hard and to have a great time in this class.
He has a great understanding of anatomy and explains things very well. The class takes a lot of time though simply because of the quantity of material that you need to memorize. Pay special attention to anything he says in class. One of the best things about Bro. Anderson's class is that he gives tons of extra credit and you get to retake the exams
A lecture heavy class, you need to show up every day. Most helpful thing was getting tutoring and going to the open lab multiple times a week. You have to work hard, but it is worth it. Doing very well on lab exams makes it easier to get an A in the class.
Very good teacher! If taking BIO 264 or BIO 265 definitely take him! He cares a lot about what he is teaching and really wants his students to understand it too. There are multiple module tests and the textbook is all online for free. He is also very good about meeting with his students. LOVED HIM!!
Professor Anderson is very intelligent, approachable and worked with me when I needed to rearrange a test during the semester. The class is very difficult, but it will prepare you for the future. Do the reading even though there is a lot, study in groups and you will do well.
Bro. Anderson is my favorite teacher at the school. He is what a teacher should be: knowledgeable and prepared, but also flexible and very caring. He gives a spiritual thought before class every day to invite the Spirit and uses class time well. He is willing to help students outside of class and wants everyone to do well. He is truly amazing.
I felt like I was drowning in this class, but that was my fault, not his. His lectures were engaging and fun. There are little quizzes for every class period, and you can take them repeatedly til you get 100%, but the over all grade is pretty much based soley on the few unit exams. They were so hard, and if you fail any of them, your grade tanks.
Brother Anderson is FANTASTIC. He is funny, caring and its definitely possible to do well in his class. Anyone that works hard and puts in the time will get an A. It does take a lot of time to memorize all of the anatomy. With lecture and lab tests there are 9 tests during the semester. Course is organized very well though.
Bro. Anderson is the best teacher I have ever had! I took him for BIO264 and BIO265 and I learned so much! His lectures are clear and easy to follow. He makes time for his students and genuinely cares about you! He even learned my name in a class of 80 people. Just take him, he is awesome!
Amazing sense of humor! Really connects with the students and s ty rives to help them understand. Teaches very simply and is always willing to work with you! One of the best professors I've ever taken a class from!
Brother Anderson was an awesome teacher for this class! He was super funny and he shared a lot of his spiritual experiences and testimony with the class 5 minutes before he started to invite the Spirit. If you have questions, he gives great feedback and is very specific. He is also very accessible outside of class.
Great professor, would definitely take a class from him again.
Brother Anderson is the Best. I took Bio 265 from him, I try to study before coming to class, in order to participate and understand better. He explains the topics so well and cares a lot about his students. He mad BIO 265 super easy for me.
You just have to read the textbook before coming to class. If you don't read the textbook before coming to class, it is pretty much a waste of "OUR" time because you are asking some really basic questions. People, please think before you ask questions. Sometimes he was just answering some really stupid questions. Great class. Learned a lot.
A fantastic teacher! Brother Anderson is funny and he really knows what he's talking about. He takes complex things and simplifies them to the point where anyone could understand what he is talking about. That being said, reading the textbook is essential if you want to pass the class with a decent grade. I loved reading the textbook! 10/10!
Brother Anderson has great knowledge about A&P. He explains things in context to help students get a clear understanding of the material. Not my favorite professor, but I would definitely take a class from him again. He gives lots of opportunities for bonus points, and tests may be curved.
Brother Anderson is hands down the best teacher at BYU-Idaho.
Bro Anderson is what you hope to get for a teacher. Very reasonable and explains things so that anyone can understand him.
Brother Anderson is very hands on and creative with his teaching. I could tell he is truly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter and because of that he is able to clearly break down and explain specifics that I didn't fully understand. All his lectures are on power point for convenient review.
BEST TEACHER EVER.
Guy is a wizard
Brother Anderson is one of the best teachers on campus. He is clear in what he teaches and is very patient with the student's learning process. He is very understanding and fun to work with and learn from. Very personable and engaged in his lectures.
Bro Anderson is by far the best professor I have ever had! Anatomy is a daunting topic for most, so having a professor that's so accessible and cares so much about his students really helps. He literally couldn't make learning anatomy easier or more fun! Prepare to work hard, though, anatomy is a tough topic. 90% sure he's Einstein reincarnated tbh
BEST teacher ever!!! He cares about what he teaches, and somehow connects with all of his students on a personal level. He keeps things light hearted, interesting and fun, even though this class requires a lot of work. Don't worry about reading the whole textbook, just go to tutoring and take notes during lecture.
I cannot begin to express what a phenomenal teacher and person Brother Anderson is. He cares not only about your education, but you in general. The class is fun and applicable. It's a 400 level class, so it's definitely a challenge, but he makes it manageable and interesting. 11/10
He might be a good prof, I hardly interacted w him bc it's online, but he sure didn't help improve the class. The class is terrible. There's lil-no instruction. Google is our teacher. The assignments tell us to look it up rather than actually teach it. Google is vast and largely inaccurate. V hard to determine which info we actually need to know.
One of the best professor I have ever had (including PSU, U of Wash, and BYU-I). Obvious that he cares about the students, personally and academically. Available for help or more in depth learning. Each assignment tailored to help students learn the material. Partnered with John Fisher, making twice the learning resources available for students.
I loved this class; 460 is no joke and can be challenging but Pro. Anderson made this class so much fun. I loved his inspirational messages and side comments. I learned so much in this class and he helped me feel proud about how much I was able to learn and accomplish.
Brother Anderson was awesome. He makes himself available when you need help and is an incredibly gifted teacher. I would totally take him again! I did take it when he took away Brigham's videos in 2022. The class is still super possible and easy. I also loved the 7:45am class too. It was really nice getting the class out of the way.
Hardest class by far. Doesn't listen concerns, no enthusiasm, lackadaisical, made us do almost all of our homework using google (which led me astray most times, anyway). No textbook. No explained concepts. Terrible feedback. Rough grading. Save your time, talents, efforts, sanity, money, and GPA by not taking this with Brother Anderson.
He's a tough grader, shares inspirational experiences, and is one of the most Christ-like professors I had at BYU-I.
Avoid at all costs. This professor provided the worst educational experience I have ever had. He removed video recordings of lectures so that students could not use them. The TA's were actively trying to make the tests harder. The lectures did not cover half of the tested material. Talking with the professor felt cold and uncomfortable.
Brother Anderson is amazing. He truly cares about students, and he is passionate about anatomy. 460 is a difficult class, but tutoring, drop-in labs, and lots of hard work will pay off for you.
Anderson would be so much better if he did his own grading. His TA currently is not there to help you succed but to flex his knowledge of the subject (which he knows nothing about).
Brother Anderson truly cares about his students/wants them to succeed. The class is hard, but he does an amazing at giving you adequate resources and all that you need to success. If you put in the time required for the class, you will do great! His tutors/TAs are awesome as well. Those who rate him badly did not put in the time they should have.
Brother Anderson is a great Professor, he really loves his students and will take time to try and get to know you. He has a high level of love for his students but that also comes with high expectations. There is a lot of information that you are expected to learn but Brother Anderson does his best to provide all the needed resources.
Take from this professor! He knows so much and really want his students to learn. It's a tough class but bearable
Brother Anderson and his TAs are extremely caring about the students and will spend whatever amount of time you need to go over your exams and help clarify points. I struggled with performing well on exams because the material is 400 level, so do not think that an A will come easily. If you put in the time and effort your grade will reflect it.
Brother Anderson is one of the best teachers on the BYUI campus. He truly cares about you and will take time to sit down with you and ask what he can help with in now or in your future endeavors. He is passionate about what he teaches. He provides every resource needed to succeed in the class. He loves his students and wants the best for them!
Amazing professor! He cares so much about the wellbeing and success of his students. If you struggle, he will take the time to help you. He teaches application of knowledge to ensure his students are well prepared for their future careers. I left understanding/ retaining more than I have from most classes.
Brother Anderson is an amazing professor and his head TA adam is extremely helpful! this class can be difficult but if you put in the time and work you should get an A! I have loved this class so much! and feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with cadavers and advance my knowledge of the human body!
Professor Anderson is great! He makes his class really easy to get an A in. You don't really have to do anything in his class other than take tests. So as long as you study day of you should be fine. One thing I didn't like was the morning quizes every day, they are at 7:40 and you have to be in class to take them. Also Adam the TA is rough.
Brother Anderson is the best! The class has a lot of material but he makes it easier to understand. He always makes time for any questions in class. He also has the absolute best Gospel insights. You can tell he really wants everyone to succeed.
Most points comes from you memorizing stuff for lab. I hated the lecture portion just because it was VERY unclear as to what we need to know and the tutors I went to agreed. He gives lecture outlines but it does not touch on everything. The quizzes at beginning of class were pretty annoying. They do it since they know people won't show up to class.
Professor Anderson makes this challenging class understandable by using stories and jokes. He is easy to reach and always able to meet with you if you need help. He always shares a gospel topic before every lecture and is always willing to answer questions. He always makes time for questions and to go over things again if you are struggling.
Bro. Anderson is amazing. He is very good at teaching and helping when you are struggling. Adam, the head TA, is also very helpful! Honestly, if you put time and effort into the class you will be fine.
Brother Anderson is an incredible professor and one of the most inspiring men on campus. He wants all his students to succeed and expects you to put in the time and the work to make it happen. If you like a professor who says it how it is and is to the point then he is your guy.
This is an incredibly difficult class, but Professor Anderson makes it doable. He genuinely cares for each student, and is always happy to answer questions. His lectures are fascinating and he explains things well. Be prepared to study and memorize, but put in the work and you will do well. There are multiple extra credit opportunities
Study the anatomy atlas's for the lab, and meet with tutors for the lecture exams. The teacher is very easy to work with when it comes to wanting to succeed. I had no anatomy experience before this class, and did just fine with lots of diligent study.
He is one of the most respected on campus. However, I wasn't a fan of how class was set up. Your grade depends entirely on tutoring. The 3 lab exams are memorization, sure. But the 6 lecture exams are taught to you by the tutor outside of class. Only reason to go to class was the daily quiz. Lecture hardly prepared you for exams. I enjoyed it tho!
He's amazing. I'll be 100% honest, he's not the greatest teacher on campus. He dosen't prepare you for the exams a ton, or explain things the greatest. But, HE IS THE MOST CARING MAN YOU'LL EVER MEET. He will do anything and everything for you to succeed, and in my mind, that makes up for any of his shortcomings, this makes the class easy
