Great teacher... wants to see you do well in his course. He gives you class notes and his tests are straigh forward. He knows his stuff which makes it easy to ask questions. When studying for tests, make sure you look at his review inside and out!
Great Professor. Knows his stuff. The school of business really did a good job in selecting him. He gives you notes that outlines the chapters. Wants to see his students do well.
Dr.Farhat is a great teacher! He has clear expectations and wants to see his students do well. He gives you notes for each chapter, which makes it easy to study and prepare for tests (make sure you read the notes!). If you pay attention in class and do the assignments, you'll do fine. I highly recommend him!
He is really smart and you can really learn a lot from him. He's a nice guy.
Tough class but fair professor. If you are taking a derivatives course, take Dr. Farhat. He is always there to help you out if you are confused. He actually wants you to graduate unlike most of the staff at CCSU. Do all your vista homework and you should be fine.
I would not recommend prof. Farhat at all. His lectures were dry and I did not find him all that helpful. His exams were a lot tougher than any practice problems given in the class or for homework. Make sure you buy the book if you want to pass.
Great teacher and truly knows his stuff. If you want to learn something he is the man. But don't take this class looking for an easy A. In his class your grade reflects the amount of work you put into it.
didnt seem super friendly or helpful on an individual basis but gave clear expectations. Notes reflected what would be on the test. He gives clear notes online that directly reflect assignments. Gives review sheets before tests that often mirror exam questions. NEVER used the book don't buy it.
Prof. Farhat is a great teacher, he is always willing to help with any questions. just go to class and listen to his examples in the lecture notes - they are basically the same on the exams. do not buy the book i didnt open it once. his reviews are almost identicial to his lecture notes..if u put in the work and do the assessments u will do good
I took this class one day a week on a WEDS night. Boring lectures, hard tests, difficult class. Have to work really hard to get a good grade. I didn't like the class at all.
Extremely helpful professor. Wants his students to gain a real world understanding of the concepts. Creates and posts class notes, so that students can spend time paying attention to fundamentals rather than taking notes. He refers to the book once in awhile, but doesn't follow it verbatim. If you apply yourself, you can expect to do well.
One of the major strengths of Professor Farhat is that he wants his students to succeed. He provides many tools to enable his students to do well in his classes. His lectures are interesting and informative. One of the best professors I have had.
He stops taking attendance after the first few classes.Gives vista homework weekly, usually about an hours worth. HW is 25% of grade so make sure you do it. Tests are pretty hard but he gives review guides. Do not buy the book, all his notes are on vista, book is not needed.
Smartest person to ever set foot inside of a university. DETAILED notes on every chapter working through ALL problems. Goes FAST, but repeats until every student understands (His personal website is "No Student Left Behind", so you will keep up. Not easy classes for easy grades, but what he teaches, you will not forget. Funny, friendly, HELPFUL!!
best teacher on campus!
He enjoys teaching, speaks & writes, respects students a lot, highly sensible, and very organized.
Great review of what you have learned in all of the finance courses. I wish the course was offered twice a year split into 2 parts. A lot of material to crunch in one semester which doesn't allow enough time to review things in more datail.
Best professor ever. He's not easy but you'll learn a lot. He cares about students. Very smart. If you get a chance take him.
Amazing professor. Very helpful and extremely respectful of students. Does his best to make sure everyone understands before moving on. His classes aren't easy per say, but his great teaching definitely helps.
Take advantage of all his lecture notes online. Good prof, just put your effort in and he is fair.
He is a great proffessor. Clear and easy to understand. I would choose him again if i had another FIN class.
Great professor! Really wants you to understand the material and will help you understand it. Great for those not sure if Finance is their major. Not like other teachers that expect you to automatically know the material before hand. Would take again for another class if I could!
Excellent teacher. He is absolutely the best I've ever had. The most efficient, caring, and knowlegeable teacher on campus. take him if you want to succeed. He actually wants you to succeed. sometimes I wonder why he's teaching. He can make so much money working in the financial industry. Trully a genius. You're the BEST Dr. Farhat.
Good professor, really cares about his students and giving them knowledge they will actually need later on if they wish to pursue a job in Finance. Don't really need the book, never used it. There is homework for each chapter but nothing over the top. Exams are pretty straight forward. I would take a class with this professor again.
Good teacher... I look forward to having him as a Professor again.
GO TO CLASS, do the HW, and pay attention! He is an amazing professor but does not tolerate slackers. Don't bother with the book never used it. Would take him again.
He is very good in teaching for you to understand but his exam questions are difficult
Awesome professor. He knows all about the subject and the way he teaches class is very direct and clear. He's extremely helpful, easy to understand and brings in real life practical examples during class discussions. Does not require you to buy $200 book, and as long as you attend the class you don't need the book. Over all an easy class.
This professor is great. His lectures are very informative and he provides helpful examples . The tests are pretty easy, and he is always there if you need help.
The best class I took this semester. The professor is clear, you don't need a textbook, and as long as you attend lecture you will do fine. He provides lots of example and really wants you to pass so just attend class. If you have a question, he takes the time to clarify it. Overall a terrific professor.
This is the best professor I've had on this campus. It's great to have a teacher that lectures based on their knowledge, not from a text-book-provided powerpoint presentation. You have to do the assignments, attend class, and study before the tests and you'll do just fine. If you are serious about the subject, I highly recommended Prof. Farhat.
In my opinion, Prof. Farhat is one of the best professors at Central. He really knows what he's teaching. I would recommend taking his class to everyone. And don't buy a textbook. I have never opened mine:)
Dr. Farhat is a great teacher. He doesn't use a textbook or powerpoint slides made from a textbook which is great! He actually teaches which is rare at this school. I took this as a summer course and as long as you attend class, do your hw and study, you will do fine. Make sure you read the notes he gives you, they are very helpful.
he is a wonderful teacher. easy, helpful, and easy to understand
Best finance prof. at CCSU, definitely take him if you get the chance. Does not teach from PP slides or the book, gives clear examples, and questions on hw and self assesments in vista are good indicators of what will be on his tests.
Great professor, def best finance prof at CCSU, definitely take him if you get the chance. Does not teach from PP slides or the book, gives clear examples, and questions on hw and self assesments in vista are good indicators of what will be on his tests.
Types his own notes for class use, which are much more helpful than any textbook. His tests are based right from the HW's so you know what to expect. My favorite Finance professor at CCSU.
He is Pretty Good professor. his tests seem hard in the begining of semester but keep in mind to just go over his examples for the notes and review examples for the test all his questions on the test are from there. Don't buy the book you don't need it!
Professor Farhat is an excellent teacher. The notes he provides cut out all of the filler in the text and show exactly what you need to know. His exams are modeled after the examples in the notes and the problems from the homework. If you use them to study for the exams, you'll do fine. The total grade consists of 10 homeworks and three exams.
Great teacher. Knows what he's teaching about and his only goal is to make sure that you learn something. Does not use textbooks but you will learn more taking his class than from reading 20 textbooks on your own. Highly recommended!
Outstanding professor. Keeps you engaged in class, and does not use powerpoint. The trick is to print off the handouts and study them, as they are most often the basis for the tests.
This is a very hard class and Prof. Farhat makes it even harder. He does not use the power point only the lecture notes that he puts on Blackboard. The lecture notes are ok but HE DOES NOT base exams on them at all. He DOES NOT use the calculator and doesn't even bring it to the class. Everthing is based on formulas (of course) and you have to do y
hard class, all exams prior to the final were from his notes but at the end tricked us and had questions that we never learned. so i got a C- but overall good teacher
Professor Farhat is an incredible teacher, his style is, in my opinion, very attractive teaching and easy to learn the material. He breaks down the subjects in a clear and concise manner. Great all around professor, hes also a genius in finance
Professor Farhat actually teaches in a way that helps you learn the subject. He doesn't expect you to memorize formulas, he provides them for you on the exam. I found the class difficult, but helpful.
Very very hard class. The professor is completely useless. His lectures are also useless as he has a heavy accent and anything you do learn is from the uploaded notes. His homeworks will take yours to finish and the exams are extremely difficult. Do not take this course unless you plan on studying 20hours a week and teaching the material youre self
This professor posts everything he goes over in class online. examples that were gone over and instructions are all included. grading consisted of 3 exams and 10 homework's.home works were 25% as well as each exam
Very thorough. Works at an even pace. One of the best I've had.
He was a great teacher. Recommend him for any finance class.
Best finance teacher at CCSU!
He was a great professor. Didn't use a textbook at all. He provides you with his personal notes, and his homework assignments and tests were taken pretty much directly from his notes. He's thorough and helps you learn the material at a reasonable pace. 10 homeworks and 3 tests including final, which is not cumulative
Great teacher. He's very clear and really wants you to do well. if you go to class and do all the homework you will defidentally get atleast a b.
This class was such a waste of time. I'm an accounting major and I really struggled with this professor. His classes were very dry and useless because everything he says is in his notes he posts online. Don't bother buying the book, you'll never use it.
good teacher. wants his students to get good grades. will not listen to any excuses. doesnt use the book at all so dont buy it. learn from his notes - exams are taken from there.
Dr. Farhat is the best finance professor at CCSU. The class is not an Easy A at all but he gives you more resources than any teacher i have ever had in my entire life. No need to buy the book, he posts his own notes and if you study those, his homework and online sample problems you can literally ace the class. Definitely recommend him.
Professor Farhat is amazing. He is hands down one of the smartest guys I've ever met and hands down is the best Finance professor at CCSU. His classes aren't easy but his teaching style and help he offers is just so much greater, that you want to do the work and learn. If you get the chance, take him, you'll learn a lot. His customized notes help
Solid professor who does give you many resources to pass the class. He has class notes, sample problems, and homework problems that prepare you for the exams. The class is easy up until the final. His final is very difficult and set up differently from the first 2 exams. Grade consists of homework (25%) and 3 exams (25% each).
Great guy, the homework counts as 25% of your grade, so make sure you do that. and he is very interested in the subject matter. all in all, take this guy for classes, very nice and polite as well. and he tells you to buy an old book that costs like $5 instead of buying a new edition for $200. any teacher trying to save me money is good by me.
Great professor. Go to class and pay attention and you'll be fine. Textbook not needed as he posts good notes that will prepare you for the test.
I can count on one hand the number of professors that actively read their emails, provide thoughtful responses, and consider students' input. Prof Farhat is one of them. Print off the handouts (no $200 textbook), show up, and then there's no surprises on the homework or exams. 10/10 would take this professor again, completely fair and reasonable.
Prof Farhat is the only professor in the Finance department I would go to with questions regarding career development post graduation. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His classes are not easy, as they shouldn't be, but he provides you with the appropriate information to succeed. Work hard, and you will be rewarded.
Very clear instruction. Focused on concepts so that the math made sense. Liked his teaching style a lot.
Great Professor.Didn't use the book once this semester considering his good notes. Homework was a little difficult but helped when studying for exams. Liked how he makes the class relatable to real world topics rather than just teaching concepts and formulas.
Great professor! He genuinely cares about his students' success. Doesn't use the book at all but provides better notes to use. Three exams, a few homeworks, and a trading project. Definitely the best finance professor at CCSU.
Very hard material, can't miss class or your behind. he doesn't candy coat it its the hardest FIN class at the school but Prof is very fair.
Great teacher but you will need to attend class and do homework to succeed
Take your time with the homework, read the notes. Tests are 75% of the grade so retention of the information is very important. Tests are only a few questions to see if you know the material. You will learn and you will do well.
Good Teacher. You actually learn in this class. Do not have to buy a book because he provides you with good notes.
He is an amazing professor. The subject matter is difficult and he won't hold your hand, but he will bend over backwards to teach you the material. He focuses on the fundamental concepts so that the calculations will make sense. If you want an easy grade take another course. If you want to truly learn from a master then take his classes.
Amazing professor, always willing to work with students as long as you show and put the effort into his class. Attendance is everything because the material is hard to conceptualize on your own.
You learn a lot in this class. It is the most challenging finance course central has for undergrads. 3 tests & 1 major project - no need for books, he supplies you with accurate notes. Exams are fair, but test your knowledge. Put 3 hours a week into studying the notes, you'll do fine. Good luck!
Professor Farhat is one of the best finance professors at Central. He genuinely cares that students understand the material, and is always willing to help. While Derivatives can be difficult, Farhat does an excellent job of explaining the topics and providing real world examples to make the topics seem more relevant. By far, best professor!
Absolute financial genius, I would consider myself blessed to attain half of Professor Farhat's knowledge. Extremely helpful with any problems you may have, even hard concepts will come to you with his help. 100 percent recommendation to take him if you get the chance.
Very hard material, not easy grader. Homework online, exams are Problems and few multp choice questions. There is a Trading project report you must write and Final is extremely hard.
Best professor and a genius by far. 4 exams and hw. Exams from notes and hw. Did not even open the book even though it is only $0.90. It is NOT an easy class, so make sure you do not miss a class, do all the homework and put in alot of effort. Provides with every resource to succeed in the class. Wants his students to do well. No curves. Got an A-
You wont use the text too much but the professor provides additional resources to help you succeed. The homework assignments and sample problems are most helpful in preparation for the exam. Material can be confusing so read class notes and do all homework assignments as the teacher provides feedback solutions.
VERY GOOD TEACHER. VERY EXCELLENT IN EXPLANATION. I LOVE HIM
Great teacher, doesnt even require the book. Do the homework and pay attention and as long as you understand what your doing, you will get an A. Finance is tough, but he makes if a bit easier.
Challenging exams . He uses real world examples to make concepts clear. Straightforward as far as exams and grading.
Class was tough. He gives you excellent notes so there is no need to buy the book although it is only about $5. 10 homework assignments and 3 exams. Exams were timed but had similar questions from the homework. Study before the exam! Although he gives excellent notes you still need to work for your grade. I would take a class with him again.
I was very nervous to take finance. I've had many friends who have withdrawn from Finance due to its difficulty and bad professors. I decided to take this class over the winter and online with Professor Farhat. SO HAPPY I MADE THAT DECISION. I got a B- and was pretty happy with that considering I barely put in any work. He does not curve. Take him!
He uses real world examples to demonstrate concepts, which builds interest in finance.
One of the toughest teachers I've ever had. He is extremely smart. He gives you notes which are great and helpful. He is also funny. His test ARE IMPOSSIBLE!! I studied like crazy tried my hardest on homework, when it came to the test forget it there was no chance of ever passing though things. Overall 3.55
Dr. Farhat notes are very easy to follow and it helps a lot to go over them clearly and do all the homework. You basically get what you deserve, he is very straightforward with what he expects from you. Overall Dr. Farhat is a very good professor!
Great Professor. He is always there if you need help. I have had him as a professor for 2 different classes (fin 301 and fin 498) and would say he the best professor in the finance department! He grades fairly and will really help you to understand the material.
Great teacher and great course. It' a shame it won't be taught again for a while.
498 is the best class in the business school. I took it the last semester it was being offered, but if you manage to take it in the future, definitely jump on it!
Took the class online, extremely large amount of information to retain in 5 weeks especially if you are new to finance.
As long as you do the practice exams and assigned homework then you will do fine on the exams. Always do the discussions even though they are only worth one point each because they do help to boost up your grade.
I would highly recommend him. Best professor ever . An easy A ! Give u extra credit - 3 exams and are very easy based on homework - do not buy a book he provides u with his notes! Again i would say he is the best finance professor at CCSU !
Fair and straight forward class. Do your work and you should do well.
Online class is relatively easy if you read/look at his notes. Offers extra credit as well.
Great professor, took him online over winter break, thought it was going to be impossible, but he did a great job explaining everything. his notes are helpful and he is straightforward and fair. Highly recommend!
no textbook, easy online class
No surprises, class is straight forward. Provides extra credit on every homework assignment which really helps. Online class required 1 hmwk assignment a week. 3 tests.
Good professor, knows his stuff and is willing to help you pass.
Dr. Farhat is a genius. Read his class note that he provided, do homework and discussion, you will doing fine. Nothing in the exam that he is not covered. This is 300 level class, you need to pay attention in the class, and don't use your phone. I wish he teach more class, so I could take him again.
Take him. Show up to class and you will learn something. Do the homework.
He is an amazing teacher very clear on what he wants. Graded fairly and gives extra credit for every homework. I will take him again for my next Fin class.
I'm not good at the concepts of finance however I can do the math, I went him for explanations and I got what I needed. He was very helpful with explaining the concepts to me. online or in person this class is not easy,
Great teacher, upset he won't be teaching anymore (got promoted).
His tests were hard. Make sure you do the online assignments because he does not re-open them. Notes were very clear and hands done best blackboard set up of all the professors.
Great online class. Will definitely take him again.
He's an amazing professor, I will take him again if he is teaching any other Finance classes. A great online summer course
Very dense and pretty intense if you're going to take this as a summer course. Just make sure to participate and complete all homework because it definitely counts and goes right along with the exams.
take it online!! homework due every sunday but are easy assignments. Exams are a little more difficult but definitely still manageable
Best math related online class I have taken so far. The professor is very organized and posted work way before the semester started. Presents the material in a way that is easy to learn, like practice assignments without penalty. Lots of repetition. Take professor Farhat.
I took this course online over winter break, and it was very fast paced as expected. Lots of homework and an exam every few days, but it's really not bad if you just do the reading. Good amount of extra credit and very quick and clear grading, overall I learned a lot in a short period of time.
Dr. Farhat is an awesome professor. He is one of the best professor at CCSU. Very organize. Take his class as much as you could. You'll learn a lot from him. I took his FIN301, loved it. I wish he teaches more classes. No exams! Read the online book, do all assignments, and don't forget to do the discussions for every chapter.
Great class. I have taken Prof. Farhat for FIN 301 and wished he was teaching more classes. He makes the material easy to understand, keeps the class engage with his lecture. The online class was well structure and really easy to follow. As long as you se a few hours to read the chapter and do your homework, you should get an A
Amazing professor! Presented the material in a way that is easy to follow and understand. One of the best professors at CCSU.
Farhat is an awesome teacher, by far the best online class I have ever taken. He lays out the course materials in a very simple and easy to understand way. *Extra credit opportunities which is rare to find in college. If you get the chance to take him, don't pass on the opportunity, he is a phenomenal professor!
This course is graded based on assignments on Mindtap. You are graded on your performance, so it's only an easy A if you do well on the assignments. You also have to write about 5 things you learned each chapter. I spent about 3 hours a week on this course, one chapter per week. Very informational course, I wish I could keep the book!
Discussion posts are required which seems like a waste of time to me. Otherwise all homework assignments are multiple choice and come with a practice set of questions. The class is probably easy to those who enjoy finance, which I do not.
Take him. I took the online class and really enjoyed it. Communication with Prof is quick and easy. Do all the assignments and you'll get a good grade.
BEST PROF EVER. Sometimes difficult to get a seat in his classes because about 1000 people on wait list , just because he's that good. I wish that he teaches more courses.
If you're taking this class online, be prepared to do a lot of work that's due weekly. Lecturer gives schedule with deadlines at the beginning of the semester, as long as you follow that and get the work done you should expect a good grade. Homework, assignments and a "discussion" paper is due every week. One of the best finance lecturers at ccsu!
Professor Farhat was a great teacher. I took his online class FIN 301 during the winter session. Assignments are due every 2 days. No tests. Work is pretty simple as long as you follow the textbooks and know the formulas. Overall great teacher. I would definitely take him again.
I have no idea how this professor has such a high grading on here. The homework material are heavy and alot. Get ready to fail if you take his class, he is lousy at helping and you better be ready to dedicate all your life to this class. Way too much homework and this class is just overall awful. Wish i had taken something else
The worst class I have ever taken at CCSU. This guy is the worst! The work is pretty tedious and it's hard to get full Mark's on those mindtap exercises. He needs to resign already
Good class with clear instructions. Service project is 20% of grade and is worth it! You can learn a lot of good things in this class that will help you in your own finances for sure.
give lots of homework but is very specific. i learn a lot from personal finance 300 that will help me in real life. he is very specific and clear on his assignments.
This is one of the best classes I've taken!
He didn't pass me (twice) so don't take his class if your not committed. Heard he's the school of business dean now, so sucks to be you guys. Just remember, if anything goes wrong with the school, as students or even employees, he's on the hot seat with the University's Board of Directors. Checks a balances should be in place. (;
You teach yourself in this course. Work is automatically graded. There is a weekly one-page single-spaced paper. No test in this class is a plus because the work was tedious and sometimes hard because the book shows horrible examples and charts. This class should not be too hard to pass, just lots of work.
This was one of the best-designed online courses I ever took. He is very responsive to emails and questions. Take him.
I took Professor Farhat's online FIN 301 course. Really easy! Weekly homework and excel assignments through Mindtap, as well as discussion board posts, midterm and final. I received a B in the course and would've probably had an A if I didn't miss a few assignments. I would definitely recommend taking this online course!
Super easy professor. Responds in a timely manner. Do your assignments and discussions and get an easy A! Would definitely take a class with him again
You complete one chapter per week We had a quick engagement activity prior to reading the chapter, a bigger assignment which ranged from 5-10 problems, a you decide activity, and had to write a discussion board about 5 things we learned in the chapter. The homework didn't take too long each week (probably 4-5 hours depending on how fast you read).
He is one of the few faculty members who genuinely care about students. He takes the time to explain everything.
I usually do not learn very well from online courses. However, the professor structured this course in a way that allowed me to learn a lot of new material and understand it for application-based usage.
Professor Farhat's FIN300 is well-structured, with engaging activities and clear instructions. Unstuck ai and the textbook were super helpful for study prep. A good class that teaches valuable financial skills.
Professor Joseph is one of the best instructors I've had. His teaching style is clear, organized, and highly effective. He encourages participation, welcomes questions, and creates a positive learning environment. His feedback is always constructive, and he truly wants his students to succeed. I would gladly take another course with him anytime.”
