Wow!!! He goes really fast... He is very willing to help. You really must come prepared. Difficult course... Very nice instructor
It reqiures a lot of studying if you want an A or B. If you have bad study habbits don't even bother. Fassler is cool. It is his 1st year and he gets kinda nervous at times. The only reason I suggest you take someone else is because in his class a 88% is an A and in everyother Chem class an 85% is an A. He flies through material and uses every min.
Not a difficult class. Write down everything he puts on the board, actively recopy your notes, and study with the study guide he gives out and you'll get an A.
Mr. Fassler is extremely exacting! He is frequently impatient if you do not immediately grasp a concept, but he also spends a TON of time answering stupid, repetitive questions, and then has to hurry to finish the lecture, so the concepts aren't drummed in as well as you need them to be.
Flew through material as if it were a marathon. Most students had little or no chem background so I was surprised at his frustration with the lack of understanding. Keeping to his schedule was more important than making sure the concepts were understood. However, in all fairness, he made himself very available for help outside of the classroom.
Seemed to forget that he was teaching to people who had little or no chemistry background. Was more worried about keeping to the "schedule" than anything else. He did make himself available often during office hours but his inexperience and uneasiness in class overruled his good qualities.
Fassler is your classic nerd. Really smart, thinks everyone else is stupid, but he is patient and helps me a lot. I go almost every office hour and he is totally helpful. Everyone says he is harder, so if you are looking for ease, take someone else. If you really want to learn, be exposed to more material, etc, take Fassler. I really like him.
okay teacher. gave alot of information, but was all over the place with his lectures, wouldnt help students or answer questions. was unorganized and always rushed to try to finish his lecture. would have been nice if he slowed down a little and connected more with the students.
I loved this class and could not have asked for a better teacher. I disagree with others who said he is not helpful. These people must have not been going to the tutoring center where his office hours are held for extra help! The class is what you make of it, try hard and he will hwlp you, dont spend your time complaining, it's a waste of time!
Prof. Fassler was awesome. I was at first reluctant on taking a chemistry course with a new teacher, but I was fortunate enough to have done so. He's a great teacher. He's clearly passionate about the subject, and it shows through his enthusiasm and great experiments during lecture! Lab hours flew by fast, usually finishing an hour or two earler.
This is a tough class, you can't be lazy. Fassler doesn't expect you to know the material, but he also doesn't expect you to be stupid. He tries to keep the class entertained with his experiments and jokes, which I think are funny! He's a very approachable professor and very helpful. I recommend Fassler if you are going to take Chem 60.
He knows what he is talking about but he is still really young and has a lot more to learn on how to teach. the class would take control of lecture and ask stupid questions and he'd answer. but most classes the students don't ask stupid questions at all and let the professor teach throughout the class period.
Hard Class - Great teacher. You can tell he loves Chem. Fast paced class. He makes it fun.
Fassler is a pretty good teacher, though you need to go to the tutorial center a lot (Yay Jack!). He moves fast, but as a lecturer he's pretty good. His religious teaching of creationism on the last day of class, however, pretty much sent me away with a negative experience.
Fassler is a good teacher i did spend alot of time in the tutorial center. He makes the information clear but you need to spend alot of time studying. He does move fast but he makes it interesting and fun. His religious teaching the last day of class shocked me but it was sweet and honest to let us understand where he is coming from. ***HE BLUSHES**
I don't think he's the right teacher to take if you aren't the best chem student. His favorite phrase (in chem 1A) is "but you should know this already." Hard tests, tough grader on labs and hw, pretty nice guy, not for everyone.
Joe is a wonderful chemistry professor! Be prepared to understand the concepts, not just memorize notes, but Joe makes it as easy as Chemistry can possibly be! For those that feel he's too fast paced...hmm, it IS Chemistry people.... if you think this is hard, wait until Anatomy or Physio!!! GOOD LUCK!! Maybe consider a different major/profession?
Joe is a very nice teacher and he realy knows his stuff! I was a little nervous taking the class because i have never taken chemistry before, but he made the class fun and interesting with a lot of show-and-tell. great teacher. i would recommend him to anyone!
Nice guy. Funny, makes the material interesting and explains it well. BUT, there have been problems with the course that he hasn't cared to address. The online HW system is a mess - make sure you print out your scores! He won't correct your grade if there's an internal problem. Also, his tests are usually too long - lots of people don't finish.
To correct the rating below: meant to say Easiness - 4 (not 2). Sorry!
ive never taken chem before and i was absolutely terrified until i took this class. he makes the class fun, interesting, and easy to understand. sometimes we fall behind because he wants to make sure that the whole class understands the material, but its not long before we get caught up again. i recommend this class to all. he's improved a lot.
Explanations of advanced concepts were often unclear. Exams were thrown together at the last minute, usually too long and contained ambiguous language. Overall, I was left with the impression that Fassler is generally disorganized and not interested in going the extra mile to be a good teacher. Plan to spend lots of time at the tutorial center.
He is an ok teacher if you know the material. You do need to pay attention and listen and take notes....
Great teacher, very easy to follow. The people that are complaining probably just need to study more. This is a 5 unit class, and it's not easy! Fassler is the best Chemistry teacher by far!
Fassler isn't as bad as most people make him out to be. He's new but one of the better 1A chemistry teachers. He does mini experiments in lectures which made the class more fun and visual. You do need to know the basics of chemistry. If you do, you'll be fine. His tests aren't too bad but studying is an absolute must! Beware of the time limit!
I had Joe Fassler for the 2nd half of a 6-week Quantitative Analysis lab (only) at Santa Rosa JC and he was great. He clearly explains the lab/calculations prior to the day's lab, is VERY accessible for comments or questions during the lab and a very fair grader. I wish I had had him for the entire summer session.
Professor Fassler was one of the BEST chemistry teachers I have ever had!!! I went into his class hating chemistry. His lectures were super clear and straight to the point, and made sure everyone understood. He is VERY silly and fun, but sly about it. This is no easy A, but if you work hard and come to class an A is definitely possible.
lectures, labs and demos are great! Fassler is hilarious! but the tests were very hard and it seemed to me like you have to be an A student to pass this class. the tests completely turned me off to the class. Once again, the labs were really interesting, the demos are SWEET. Lectures are very clear and fun to listen to. tests not so much.
this is a great professor, I'd recommend him to anyone going into chemistry. he likes to go on about irrelevant little stories during lecture, and his offbeat humor is hit or miss. Very approachable and will do whatever it takes to help you if you're falling behind. he enjoys lecture demonstrations but a lot either don't work or just anticlimatic
This class was very enjoyable. Fassler's in class demos were great. He knows what he is talking about and is very clear when communicating it.The test were hard, but not unmanagable. The only complaint about this class the homework- I did not like the online homework set up. Overall this class was great and I recommend it to anyone.
If you are already a pretty decent Chem student you won't have problems. If you ever need help, Fassler will make time to help you. That's the good news. The bad news is that this class is hard(tests)! There is a tremendous amount of online homework. Many weeks it took 5-8 hrs just to complete the homework. This leaves little time for actual study.
He's #2 best in the inorganic chem dept (but that's because the faculty is bad overall). He's very helpful and will rarely put down anyone. He explains things well and the MasteringChem HW is very good. The bad is that his tests are VERY hard to ace. He is an excellent lab prof (explains the lab fully beforehand). Expect a B if you dont live 4 chem
Fassler is a Good teacher but pretty tough. Crams all that he can into a lecture. Great on labs make sure you do the math correctly. The online hw sucks because it takes a long time but it helps. Overall he is good, teaches the concepts and is there to teach. Just be prepared to work for an A or B
If you are taking chem as a pre-req rather than for your major, RUN!!! You will be expected to be a chem. geek to be in this class (not that that is a bad thing....) Seriously, this class is hard, lectures not mandatory (I learned better from the book) but labs are mandatory, and plan on being there the ENTIRE time.(No breaks, no finishing early)
Mr.Fassler is very helpful and his lectures along with his demos are interesting. The class may be a little boring at times but in the end you will learn a lot of chemistry. Make sure to attend class and labs and you will earn a good grade.
It seems that the only students who succeed in this class are the ones who were in AP chem in high school. If you already know everything, you'll do well. Between the buggy online homework, and his misogynistic and judgmental tone, it's impossible for most to get an A or B.
His lectures are easy to follow if you've had basic chem before. Go to the lectures always though, even if it's for a refresher! He explains what will be on the test and in what detail, which is nice. He helps out a lot in office hours, and late labs don't have too big a penalty.
Mr. Fassler is an amazing chemistry professor. He does expect alot out of his students but always prepares you. There is nothing on homework, tests or quizzes that he doesn't cover in lecture. His lectures are fun, he tells stories, gives fun chemistry facts, and amazing demos. If you have the chance to take his class do it! You will learn alot.
One of the most patronizing teachers I?ve ever had. He thinks everyone should already know everything there is to know about chemistry, and if you ask questions he?ll make you feel stupid. I only had him for lab, and he always let us out early, but there?s no point in taking him when you can?t ask him any questions.
Mr. Fassler is an exceptional chemistry teacher. He is extremely passionate about the subject and tries hard to pass that enthusiasm to his students. He is very funny and very approachable to ask questions, although he does seem to disappear sometimes during labs. The tests were not too difficult but required studying. I highly recommend him.
He is funny but it quickly becomes annoying when you ask him a question outside of class and he is incredibly unhelpful. Disappears during labs and has an incredibly patronizing tone. The online HW was such a pain that about 2/3 way thru semester he stopped assigning it. Thanks for reviewing it before assigning it. Online HW is for lazy teachers.
Awesome chemistry teacher! I had him for 1A and 1B. He makes class entertaining, and I actually found the online homework to be really helpful.
Best chem teacher ive ever had. very helpful if u actually go talk to him, tests are not hard if u study ur notes, it really isnt necessary to read the book if u listen during lecture. i highly recommend this teacher for any class u r considering taking
Well, he is a very good teacher. His exams are tough though and it is impossible to get an A.
Fassler is a very good teacher! He is pretty funny and keeps the class time interesting with demonstrations. His tests are hard, but if you put in the effort you can get an A. He is very helpful if you go into his office hours, but he can make you feel a little stupid if you aren't understanding something immediately. I would suggest taking him!
A good but somewhat distractable teacher. He loves his subject and by the end of the semester most of the class liked chem also. His lectures can sometimes be missing certain information and he is a hard grader on labs. The online HW works well if you remeber to check it. Take him if you dont want an uneventful chem class.
I feel as though he teaches well in front of a group but ask him a question outside of class and you probably won't get your question answered. He is very entertaining and truly is passionate about the subject. I would suggest him. Work quickly on his test, they are long. Studies hours count big time.
Took 42 and 1A from Fasler, really liked him, he presents the subject with enthusiasum, humor, and clear communication. I would reccomend him, but he is a very difficult tester. If you're a Chem whiz, you might be able to finish every question on his exams & quizes. I studied, did all my homework with 100% and got a D. Remove 1/4 of test ?'s Joe
I've had him for Chem 1A and 1B and got A's in both classes(being a girl) You definitely have to have general test taking skills in order to do well on his tests (such as reviewing problems and starting with the easiest ones)I had no interest before this class and now chem actually interests me! He never assigned homework for either of my classes
Fassler is a horrible teacher! His lectures are unorganized and he goes off on too many tangents which wastes class time. He provides practice test for exams but they don't help because the exam questions are ten times harder than what is covered in class. He's so slow at grading papers!! He's a nice guy but a terrible teacher!
no comments
He is a pretty cool guy. Probably one of the best chemistry teachers the jc has to offer atm. He doesn't spoon feed the the material necessairly and because of that it can be difficult but you also learn the material. I would recommend him as a Chem teacher to anybody
I really love Fasslers lectures! He's funny, kinda silly at times, engaging but most of all makes the material interesting! His exams are tough but if you do the homework and material it shouldn't be so bad. By the end of the semester he usually knows all of the students names which is nice because he genuinely has interest in them.
Makes good use of class time. Explains materials clearly. Has good, nerdy sense of humor. Expect to put in a hefty amount of work to get an A or B. I felt his class was a rewarding experience.
I'm currently in Fassler's class, with one week to go until the final... I'll say this if you're going to take his class: get the textbook > do all of his recommended homework problems > take note of what you need for the tests (he only tests on what he lectures) and you'll be fine. Joe is a good teacher.
He's definitely a tough grader and, honestly, he can be very unfair sometimes. I'd often find points taken off for things that were actually correct. I would take someone else, if possible.
Great teacher. He has a bit of a nerdy sense of humor. While his references will make you laugh at times they will also make things very clear (and stick in your head). You MUST show up to every class. So much of the tests was just from lecture. His class is hard, but its the material not him. Did you think chemistry would be easy?
Fassler is a great teacher! I had him for 1and as long as you take notes from lecture, do homework problems and review practice tests, you should do fine. I strongly recommend that his lectures be recorded, they are great review material! He tests straight from lectures
I LOVE MR.FASSLER! I had him for lab for chem1a and he's extremely helpful!! I wish i had him both for lab and lecture. He explains everything clearly and makes all the difficulte concepts understandable. I would take him again in the future if I can!
I had him for Chem 1a lab, good teacher, clear, explains in detail, fair grader. Helpful! Take him. He has a sense of humor too.
Fassler does a great job at clarifying the difficult topics that Chem 4A offers. His tests are difficult, but the tests draw directly from his lecture notes, so the book is useless. For his tests, he tries "to make you think," so make sure you really conceptualize all of the topics covered in lecture. He also has a nerdy sense of humor :)
He's great.
Honestly, Fassler was one of the best teachers I have had in my two years at the JC. He's awkwardly hilarious and a really effective teacher. He is very clear and helpful. He also LOVES to blow things up. Lots of fun. I highly recommend his class.
Fassler is a young, energetic guy with all the qualities of a chem teacher. He makes weird noises and explains every concept with glee. You do not need the textbook, I bought it but did not open. His lectures are clear enough you can learn the material fine. Can be a little harsh on tests but not too bad. Labs are fine.
Fassler gives great lecture notes and test directly from them. If you want an A in his class make sure to do well on lab reports and master the notes from lecture. He also like to play favorites with students in the class, so keep that in mind. I worked my ass off in his class, getting pretty much all A's on his test and still walked away with a B.
Don't believe the annoying comment below. Fassler is great. He's funny and interesting. I have to admit, studying is going to be your best friend in this class. Study notes and examples, because the test will be very similar to the ones presented. Try to think about the topics conceptually too, it isn't good to just rehash the problems.
Best Teacher I have ever had. Gives great lectures and tests directly out of them. He was also very nice and always had time for questions even if he didn't have scheduled office hours.
Fassler is one of the best Teachers at this Junior College. He is really enthusiastic about chemistry and loves to do demos. His tests can be tricksy but take him and ask him questions he is really nice and helpful.
Mr. Fassler is a great teacher. He's got a nerdy humor that I love. His lectures are super clear and enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Fasler is a great teacher, I love attending his classes because he not only explains the material clearly but makes class interesting with his sense of humor. Take him!. Do the online homework, attend lectures, and practice the in class problems and you'll do fine! Just put in the work.
Fassler is easily my favorite teacher at the SRJC. I had him for Chem 4A and Chem 4B and he's great. He is incredibly interested in what he does and conveys it well to the class. He frequently incorporates real world situations and examples into his lecture making the material he teaches relevant. He's a kind, smart, and funny dude.
Joe is a great teacher. He really wants his students to understand the concepts not just memorize equations. It's not an easy class but tests come straight from the lectures so as long as you go it shouldn't be too much of a problem. He's also a fan of demos, particularly combustion reactions.
Wonderful lectures very clear and helpful. Not judgemental! Helped me turn a grade around. Knows his stuff and most importantly loves teaching.
He's a good teacher would definitely encourage people to take him
Good lecturer. You can't really get away with not reading the textbook though. Huge amount of material covered.
I like Fassler. He wants you to learn the material. Fun lectures (lots of explosions). but The biggest issues are the test. They are tough. Takes plenty of points off for slight mistakes. Practice test are not very useful, sure they give a general idea of what will be on the real test. Tests are exponentially harder and cover way more material.
I would only recommend this teacher if you're majoring in Chemistry. He doesn't grade his own papers, he has someone else do it. The grading isn't fair as to where it's hard to receive partial credit for trying. It was my second time taking this class and I found it with him harder than the first time. You buy the textbook to teach yourself!
I now love chemistry because of this professor! His tests are hard. However, he is a very fair grader. In one instance, he gave partial credit for setting up a conversion problem correctly even if you didn't get the right answer. Several students had a study session in the library he came and helped us study. How many teachers do that? A+++
It's a tough class, but somehow he makes it fun. He loves to draw pictures. If you need help make sure to go to office hours. Tests are hard - lots of material to remember. Don't miss a class, his lecture notes are vital! He is a great guy!
I loved Joe!! Had him for Chem100 then for Chem60 (*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* taking chem100 before chem60 if you're nervous). I was very timid going into chemistry but his love for the subject is contagious. Overall he's a great professor-- clear, helpful, humorous, and very approachable. Definitely take advantage of the tutorial center when you need.
I took this class in the hopes that I could get an A and move onto other chemistry courses, but Joe is not the best teacher for that. His lectures were often vague, and his answers were mediocre at best. Because of that, many people in this class did not do exceptionally well.
His tests are based on both the lecture and lab. I felt like the problems he did in lecture were simple and then on the test they were complex . His answers to reasonable Questions are mediocre . He makes you over study the topics on his study guide cause leaves a lot out of the test . He doesnt grade his own labs! And he's a tough grader on tests
Nice guy and actually a little funny. However, his class felt very disjointed. The online homework was from another book and his tests were MUCH harder than the homework and labs. Expectations of what to know weren't really clear cut. Gives some extra credit and the overall grade is slightly curved. Chemistry is just plain hard anyways.
Fassler's class was my favorite of the semester! He broke chemistry down very simply, and tried his best to make sure everyone understood. He cares so much about his student's success to the point were he would stop his lecture for ten minutes to explain a simple question. Taking notes helps a lot!
Fassler was a great professor. I never understood chemistry, or liked chemistry until I took his class. He really takes time to make sure you understand the material if you are struggling. I would definitely recommend taking him.
Mr Fassler is a very passionate dude when it comes to chemistry. He makes chemistry something I want to continue learning. His style of grading Labs were very confusing. That's something I wish he was more clearer about. His grading style was hard to pinpoint. Overall, great teacher and a fun class to take.
This was my first time taking a chemistry course (ever) and I am so happy that I had Prof Fassler!!! He made the lectures interesting and was very good at explaining all the various topics. He's a fair grader and makes himself available if you have questions or need help. Did I mention hes hilarious?
Fassler is the funniest, dorky, and passionate teacher. Love him and his lectures. The class is very simple and fun, organized, and through. He is very helpful with helping out on problems, and understanding with life issues and considerate with the grades.
Joe is a very good teacher, a very nice guy, very helpful and kind with his students. I had no idea of Chemistry and now I love it. Hes also a very fair grader and gives partial credit for whatever your knowledge and efforts take you. Take him, hes super cool!
Do the homework, do the labs, read before lectures and you'll do fine.
I was very nervous taking chemistry at first but Joe was very clear, organized and fun to learn with. I never thought i would actually enjoy learning chemistry. You HAVE to attend EVERY class to do well. Attend EVERY lab and you will get a little bump to your grade. I found the tutorial center very helpful as well. Take him you wont regret it!!
Joe Fassler is the best chemistry teacher ever! His lectures are clear and easy to follow. He engages with students and is very accessible outside of class. Attendance isn't mandatory but it should be because a lot of material is covered in each lecture. Show up, participate, ask questions, stay focused and you will do great! Take him!
Dr. Fassler is a great chem prof. He uses power point for lectures. He's very helpful in class and his office hours as well as in the lab. Gives good feedback on what he accepts on labs and tests. Online homework was not my favorite part but it's not worth much, so you'll survive.
I loved this class. Joe is very clear, kind, and understands this is a hard subject. Online homework is a drag but do it, its helpful. Study guide practice questions are a MUST. He stops if hes going to fast and makes sure each individual gets help they need. Tutor center was helpful outside of class. He is looking to give you points in any way.
Professor Fassler is easily one of the most engaging and talented professors at the JC. Not only is there to help you every step of the way he also paves the path to success in his classes. His lectures are meticulously organized and concise. The class is challenging but he holds his end of the bargain as the professor, so you must hold your end
Joe has a skill at consistently touring our entire class through challenging new material. The online homework flexibility is great for me, but the # of online homework questions due each week feels like a lot. His class means taking notes, attending lab, studying for exams. Somehow his great presence and connect ability keep us at it each week.
Joe is the best science teacher I've ever had. He explains the material in a way that makes me leave class understanding it and confident about the subject matter. As a nursing major, it is really helpful that he relates a lot of the concepts/problems to the human body and prescriptions that are commonly used. Highly recommend!
Joe is comical, quick-witted, and really cares about Chemistry. This course is dense, material-wise, with a ton of information the builds on itself. Be smart about stacking this with other classes. You must pay attention to detail, and study power points. Use office hours, tutoring center, and ask good questions. Joe is great if you do your part.
I wish I had more chem classes to take, so I could have Joe as a teacher again. Chem is a TOUGH class, but he does take the time to explain until everyone gets it. He is a tough grader, and his tests are really tough. But I really enjoyed his lectures. I had a different teacher for lab, but I would assume his lab would be just as enjoyable.
Explains the material great especially for people who have never taken a chem course. Tries and makes his lectures fun and relatable. He takes notes with students. Great overall.
Wouldn't take this class if you have never taken chemistry.
Fassler made chem a lot better with his daily enthusiasm. Gives good feedback. Are graded by weekly lab reports and 4 midterms and final. Tests are fair and some Qs come from his previous lectures. Offers extra credit, which is the optional hw. 88% and up is an A. If stuck go to his office hours. Dont cram studying to one day before the test.
Professor Fassler presents the lessons in a very easy to understand manner.
Joe is a great instructor, I loved being in his class. His lectures were very easy to understand, and all of the homework (excluding lab-related stuff) was extra credit that could help you recover up to 20 points over the course of the semester. He was very proactive during labs, and all of his exams were very fair. Great guy, would 100% recommend
This review is way overdue but I took Mr. Fassler during lockdown (Fall 2020 ) & he has made Chemistry both palpable and fun! Mr Fasslers ability to be engaging and approachable during an unprecedented time made Chemistry less stressful. Homework & Labs are easy and will help in exams to come. Do not leave any stone unturned and seek help if needed
Mr. Fassler is funny and passionate about chemistry and that's what makes him a great professor. His lectures are clear and he provides them for you on the website if you miss a lecture. The way he grades assignments is clear but there are times when it can be confusing because you don't understand why you are losing points.
Joe is awesome, funny and entertaining. Makes chem fun. Explains stuff well. lectures can be a bit boring sometimes, Super nice guy though and great professor overall.
Joe cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is always open to answering questions, and his lectures are very clear and informative. There is not homework outside of labs and some papers. He offers extra credit before each exam. Practice exams are very useful and prepare you well for exams. Exams are fair, but need to be studied for.
he really cares about his students and knows how to break down complicated subjects in chemistry and make them digestible for students his exams werent hard either expect for the last one and the final fassler is funny too and puts in the much needed energy into his lectures i could not recommend this guy enough he is amazing take him!! :)
Joe was easily one of the best professors that I could have gotten for chem. He would be super clear with his lectures, and would be super open to questions and clarifications throughout the class. He was super approachable/accessible outside of class as well. Highly recommend him for any chem course you have to take.
I would highly recommend Fassler to any and all chemistry students. He is super caring for students. He is very quick about grading, and his grades are very fair. He is constantly accessible and is always willing to help. There were very few assignments that counted for a large grade, so the tests can make or break you. Study for the tests!
Joe Fassler was a good professor for CHEM3A. Grade is based primarily on tests and quizzes although online homework will give your grade a slight bump at the end of the semester. Tests were on the difficult side, but manageable if you do the homework. Nice guy who will help during office hours, just beware no makeups for tests or quizzes.
Joe was one of my favorite professors! He loves chemistry and gives his lectures lots of thought. For lab he gives you a brief and understandable explanation of the procedure and cuts out unnecessary stuff. I don't like online homework but I will say that doing it sets you up to do great on quizzes & exams. He's super approachable for help as well!
Joe is the BEST chemistry professor you can have, he's very approachable and easygoing. He's lectures are very clear with many examples. There is not a lot of homework for t
What are you waiting for, just take him already! He is an incredible professor, super approachable, and great lectures. Homework was great preparation for quizzes and tests. Make sure to really prepare for the final because I found it to be more difficult than the exams. I have no complaints.
Joe Fassler is so awesome that I actually was excited going to class every Tuesday and Thursday. He makes sure you understand the material and will work with you one-on-one in class to help. He has a demonstration of the lecture topic almost every class which makes it much more understandable for visual learners, like me.
Nicest guy with a great teaching style. Happy to help and loves his students
Professor Fassler is an amazing lab professor. Labs are clear and he is always willing to help out with post lab questions and the lab itself.
They are awesome and always willing to help you out with any questions you have. I do find that the exams are always harder than the study guides, so make sure you over-prepare for them. Likewise, the final was very challenging. Joe is such a kind person, this is ur sign to take him!
The good: joe is a kind guy, responsive via email and accessible in and out of office hours The bad: HW is time consuming, online, and not congruent with lectures/exams. he's not very clear about expectations for exams, due dates or timelines. He's not great at explaining things in more than one way for students who are having trouble conceptually
Fassler replies to emails quickly, has a calm, caring demeanor, and enjoys chemistry. The homework is around 18% of the grade and the other 82% is 3 quizzes 3 exams and the final, he gives study guides. His lectures are easier than HW/tests but if you do the study guide + HW you'll be fine.
Approachable and kind professor. Quite forgiving and generous with grading or due dates. Generally, you shouldn't fall behind unless it's due to your own procrastination. As long as you work with the provided material, passing the class is very much feasible, even for me, given I petitioned to skip Chem 42 and didn't study chemistry for 5 years.
