Sure his class is easy but you still have to do the work and read. It's a fun environment and you can easily express your opinions. He has an attendance policy-You can miss 4 classes...after that 5 points off your final grade each day after that.

Joe is one of the best profs at UNF. So many teachers just give you busy work and then grade it really hard--Joe actually teaches you to think for yourself, to consider things from a different angle, or look deeper into stuff. His LIT2110 is not so easy

Joe is one of the best profs at UNF. He and Dr. Kimball were my favorites. Joe will push you as hard as you like--if you found his course easy, that's because you're a typical tool who just wants to get by. You get what you put into his classes.

This was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken.

JOe Flowers gets you interested and motivated and gives you chances to rewrite papers and improve. He's sort of odd, but really NIce and Helpful. Very caring: He helped our class with math after class. I highly reccommend him.

first year seminar was a good class. evry class is different and mr. flowers was great. he kept us interested and borught lots of speakers in. mostlyh you talk about social stuff and college, like studying skills. he is too strict on attendance!

Joe is perhaps the greatest lit professor around. Not only did he keep a boring class interesting, he had us read good books, and he taught us more than just literature. Whoever writes a badcomment about joe is honestly an absolute moron.it is our right to speak our minds and possibly be offensive

This guy is the best teacher in the world. He makes this class so much fun. you dont have to write a lot. He grades very well, and you are guaranteed a B even if you dont do anything.

He is such a cool teacher, no you really do not do a whole lot of work, but he really tries to get you thinking. Oh yeah, really push him to get your papers back, or they will go into the black hole of his back, never to see the light of day again. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Joe rocks so hard. You can't fail this class, unless you don't show up or you don't turn in the essays. Essays weren't bad--lots of freedom in choosing topics. No final exam, either. And Joe is quite intelligent and hilarious. Definitely take him if you have the chance.

Joe is awesome. Best prof. I ever had. He opens your eyes to different points of views and makes the boring textbooks interesting. Its an easy A in the sense that he makes you WANT to do the classwork and makes you enjoy the class. If you ever have the oportunity to take his class, by all means, do it. This guy is one of the coolest people you will ever see.

The easiest class I've ever had in my college career. However! HE SO SCREWED ME ON MY GRADE! Take the man seriously when he says he counts absenses! MY GRADE WENT FROM AN A TO A C! I'm still pissed... Great sense of humor. He is consistently off topic and has great stories to tell. Don't think I learned a thing though.

He's really good at playing devil's advocate. He'll make you analyze everything and think about stuff in new ways. I learned more in this class than most of my other classes combined. I didn't want to miss class even though it was at 9am. Talk a lot, don't miss any classes, and don't plagiarize and you can get an A or a B.

Flowers is great at getting you to write better. His comments were really thoughtful and definitely improved my writing. It took him like a week or two to return papers, but he wrote more on them than any other professor. His discussions are great.

so far joe is freakin sweet and hes a vegan animal rights activist so even better.

He was saying that the MTV generation (raised on 3 minute videos) has 3 minute attention spans...and even then they need boobies and explosions to hold their interest. I liked the class, but it took forever to get papers back.

This class was an extremely easy class!!! I mean I think it is almost impossible to fail and if you do fail then you must have begged for an F. We wrote a few papers but nothing too hard.

Joe is the man. He is awesome, and he DOES help you learn to write, and I am an English Major. He is fun and the book selection is great even though you won't get around to reading them. Class discussions are also interesting, but they often get off subject which is fine. Take him, and go to Inertia.

He is such an amazeing teacher a must take if you want to learn about crazy topics and you get to write about them...There is never a dull essay asignment wich I liked the most because it made the essays ten times better to do. My grades were all Bs but I am not a good writer, if you are good you will get high B or A. My friend missed 9 classes and got a C when other teacher would have failed her.

He seemed disorganized at first but showed a genuine interest in how his students were preforming. His classes are a bit hard to follow at times [figuring out the assignment] but just listening closely to what he has to say teaches you a lot. I was scared about writing arguments before this class, now I'm not. I'll take his LIT 2000!

Great teacher! Great class. Actually cares about his students and helped me with my writing a lot. He even helped me with several philosophy papers. I agree with teh people who say you get out of it what you put into it with this class. He's a good guy and the only English teacher I've ever had who cared about how I do.

He gets you thinking about lots of stuff. Though you use blackboard, I also emailed him my papers and asked him to critique them a lot and he ripped them apart but still I got pretty good grades. I wish this had been a longer class. He is very funny and makes everyone laugh a lot. Very fair.

I had Mr. Flowers 5 years ago and my sister has him now. I still use things he taught me and I wish I could take him again, since I feel like I'm getting dumber after graduating. I learned so much in his class; take him! (and Dr. Alteri, Dr. Kimball, & Dr. Schwam-baird in poli-sci...all taught me soo much.)

Only two people in our class got an A (there were also 2 or 3 A-'s), but he was much tougher in LIT2000 than he was in ENC1101.

Interesting teacher that actually keeps your attention and makes you want to go to class to hear what he has to say. He is smart and funny but he will go off on tangents too long for a 50 minute class.

Amazing teacher. We watched interesting videos, and read some pretty cool short stories. Spent class discussing them. He went off on tangents, and sometimes didn't show up for class, but no complaints here otherwise. Encourages class discussion, and is thought provoking, an important quality in a teacher. Learn and enjoy yourself at the same time.

If you're a student who likes a detailed schedule with intense planning & not one for lateral thinking- this class is not for you. Jo Flo doesn't rule with a syllabus, it's not needed. HYSTERICAL! I had Jo for ENC too and he is better at teaching Lit. He shows up more and is super helpful. Some ppl may not like his disorganization but i learned more from him than other teachers. Will make you laugh and think. Don't take advantage of him just show up to class and do the work he will let you turn them in late you should get an A.

Joe flowers is sooooo great! i had him this past summer for college writing and i really enjoyed his class. i plan on taking him again for lit. He is one of the most friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful teachers that i think i have ever had. talks alot about current issues and how they apply to us. Very strong opinions on animal rights! HAH! Even if you attend, turn in papers and do rewrites you won't get an A!! I got a B even though I ALWAYS get A's in English, but he makes you come up with a thesis and find "gaps" in the book and stuff that is a lot harder than just saying what you thought of the story. I won't take him again.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I am taking him two semesters in a row and would take him for every class I could if he taught more than just english. Class is canceled a decent amount and work load isn't difficult. LOVED the class.

Flowers is awesome. He talks about everything and really opens up your mind to the real world. He is extremely open minded and will tell you what he believes. I didn't find him to be offensive whatsoever, he states his opinion and he's entitled to it. The class was very easy, we read short stories and discussed them, couple papers, nothing more.

He didnt give many assignments this semester but everytime we went to class we learned something new. He is a professor that likes to iscuss current topics and really opens your mind to what is going on in the world. He doesnt try to change your beliefs or insults you for the ones you have. I learned more in his class than all of my other classes combined. And now I can't look at movies and books the same way. His psych class will blow your mind, though the reading is very hard to understand sometimes (but he explains it).

While he's extremely smart and hilarious, he's also very disorganized which means that we practically did nothing. Definitely an easy A if you can write a paper and don't mind showing up everyday to learn random interesting facts. If you want in an in-depth film class, look elsewhere.

Watched good movies and read a pretty good textbook. I didn't expect "Film Appreciation" to be in-depth like the other poster, but it was good for what it was though he said the papers were good but then gave me a low grade. Mr. Flowers needed more time to talk about the movies than 150 minutes a week and seemed to always run out of time.

For the love of all things holy, take Flowers for any class he teaches. Real relaxed, be prepared for a lot of talking though. Ton of papers, but no tests. Grading not too harsh. Attendance mandatory, but he'll cut you slack. Do your papers, you won't fail (and if you do, I have no idea what to tell you...)

Fascinating stuff. My mind is blown, but some of the readings are very tough to follow its all on evolution and psychology and Flowers does a great job of explaining it. He grades tough bt adds a lot of points in the beginning though not so much in the end. He reminds me of Mitch Hedberg, a smart comedian who died, but he looks like Kenny Powers

The online course on reading/writing about evolutionary psychology is really good. Very thought provoking and engaging. Professor Flowers explains everything well in the discussoin board, but there are a lot of papers. I highly recommend this class, but with I had it on campus since its easy to forget to post every week which he requires.

Does not push his views on you (though many people mistakenly took it that way), but is very vocal about his opinions. Spent most of class talking about moral issues and his most recent debates with facebook friends rather than English. Was late/didn't show up on numerous occasions, but he is a good guy and it's a very easy class.

Professor Flowers is a very easy class no matter what type of English class. Very helpful with the writing and an easy grader. Pushes his views and loves to debate. Breaks down the class into current world events which were what most of my writing topics were about. Overall a good professor.

Online Ancestral MindModern World class was really interesting to me and had great essay topics and resources provided by Joe. If you thinking about humanity, psychology, philosophy, the evolution of thought, art, and our animal tendencies then take this course. The essay topics were broad and fun to write and he gives great feedback! Fun course!

He really makes you think. A very cool, nice and understanding teacher. The topics we write about are always so interesting and the papers are always short, usually 1 12 pages each. He does NOT push his beliefs on you, he is open about his beliefs and is interested in anyone's opinion

Flowers is an awesome dude! He's so funny & has lots of stories! I'm going to miss him! Anyways, he has some unique topics to write on & only wants anywhere from 500-750 words. He's very lax & lets turn in late w/ no penalty. Also takes email. I had him first class of the day & he was often a bit late "Stupid Parking!" Take if looking 4 easy prof:)

If you fail his class its because you were trying to. He's a super laid back guy, loves to tell unrelated stories in class and is also very opinionated. He assigns a few papers that are 2-3 pages double spaced but thats about it. If you just turn in the assignments and give some effort you should easily pass.

I enjoyed professor Flowers' class. It is an easy credit class and will fulfill part of your GW requirement. The topic is quite interesting but Flowers does not do the best job of posting the assignments that are due online.

I took ENC1101 with Joe Flowers and I enjoyed showing up to every single class. Flowers didn't go by the typical UNF modules but came into class every day and watched him surf the internet. He brings up great stories of the past and loves to talk. I would take this class again in a heartbeat.

I don't think I'll ever take an easier class. He is extremely liberal and opinionated and will spend the entire class of every class talking about his political views which gets annoying but is worth the no work and easy A.

Great professor, loves having everybody participate in his "lecture" (more like conversations,; either informal or formal). Pretty opinionated, but it open to anybody with opinions as long as they have sufficient evidence to justify themselves. Grades understandably as well.

Professor Flowers makes his classes enjoyable and entertaining to say the least. I enjoyed his character even if we didn't agree on the political topics he frequently discussed in class. The papers he assigned were opinion based and allowed creative freedoms. If you're a competent writer you'll easily pass with an A.

He is hands down my favorite Professor EVER. He doesn't require a textbook because he understands that it can be costly. He has super interesting stories and is passionate about the articles he makes us read. He talks about topics like politics which is a great way to learn and express your views even if you don't agree with him. He is very helpful

He is a really cool guy that will tell you stories about his life and about every two weeks we turned in a paper but he's super lenient. I would say take him if you can and aren't offended easily. The only bad thing was sometimes he would cancel class last minute and depending on the person they might like that.

I found his grading to be hard but fair. He's the funniest professor at UNF. Definitely don't miss more than 5 classes! I think he thinks if you don't want to learn how to write, no one can teach you, but he's very open to helping you learn if you really want 2. My bf and i found easter eggs hidden in his edits!

Professor Flowers has been one of the best professors that I have ever had as a college student. He did a wonderful job communicated with students and getting points across to us even when the topics seemed controversial or uncomfortable. His response to student was respectiful in everyway. Take this class if you want a fun English credit!

I wish I could give a rating for 0 on difficulty. Very approachable and knowledgeable, but barely any homework. Loves to talk about what is going on in the world and laugh overall easy A.

I love Prof. Flowers! He's chill and hilarious and so so nice. Only complaint is he's a very slow grader (it's dec and I have 1 grade) and expectations aren't communicated very well for assignments, BUT he gives great and thorough feedback and is super accessible through email. Barely any work and super short assignments, overall def take him!!!

I learned a lot and this class kept my interest. Fascinating material. I didn't get the Terror Management stuff, but met him on Zoom & he explained it perfectly (he's super into it). He needs to stop recording 15 minute critiques as that is obviously slowing him down--paper #3 took a month to get back. Best online class so far.

This class ended yesterday and what I got from it were things I will take with me for the rest of my life. He went above and beyond to meet me online, work with me, and show that he thinks of students as real people. The topics were all interesting and things I had not known about.

The "Ancestral Minds in the Modern World" class made me think more than any class I've ever taken at UNF. Favorite teacher. It was fascinating material and he helped explain it. There are so many papers. Make sure you are not redundant because he's into concise writing. Best stories! Fair grader.

Honestly if you have to take this class . I highly suggest you take flowers you will have no regrets .

Truly cares about his students and goes above and beyond to help them

Best class. His semester was worse than mine (car crash!). He got RSV in Feb, then lived in the ER/hospice with his friend who died, but always communicated and only missed 4 classes. reading and papers were good, and I like that he switches topics/discussion every 10 minutes bc I get bored easily. He shows how to support arguments/improve writing.

I've never felt more respected and like a prof cared. I was going through a lot he told me that my health was more important than anything. He worked with so I didn't have to drop. We went over one paper on zoom, and some days he had office hours at the lake so he could fish, which was funny. He keeps you interested. Wish I could take again.

He does get sidetracked a bit, but his rambles are entertaining and hilarious. But he does know what he's talking about, and the feedback he gives out is helpful to improving your writing. He also gives out simple projects that I found fun since they're mostly related to your personal interests. He's a good professor overall.

Great professor, wants his students to succeed!

There wasn't a lot of work and we would get plenty of time to do them. He's very understanding and caring if you have any issues and will always try to work with you. He's a slow grader but he had a lot of personal stuff going on during the semester so I don't hold that against him that much. He genuinely wants his students to learn and think.
