Prof Foster makes teaching calc look so easy. He always knows exactly where your understanding goes wrong and presents the content in a way that will make sense to you. You can also ask pretty much any math question and he would answer it beautifully and precisely. He has clearly mastered the art of explaining. Also extremely accessible and chill

Just a note, that last angry review was written immediately after a midterm. A lot of people complain that he's a terrible explainer when they really just lack the algebra skills, which was a prereq for calc. If you can't do basic algebra, you're at fault, not the prof. He's really good at explaining, plus very chill and funny and sarcastic.

Foster is really great, I don't understand students who don't show up for the lectures and then complain about his exams. Yes, his exams are harder than other profs, but you can do well if you do the worksheets he assigns and pay attention in recitation. Foster is always available for help and he is insanely good at explaining concepts.

He is a very average teacher tbh, but I found his class very depressive and there is a lack of energy in his lecture. He's not very patient when answering questions from students, I have seen this multiple times in class where he will leave a student confused after answering their question. If you are interested in math you might feel discouraged.

There is no reason that a MATH CLASS should have required participation. If you want to know the truth, people will voluntarily attend lectures if they are valuable, and his were not. The only thing he did in these lectures was parrot what was in the textbook. He canceled office hours the week of or the week before an exam TWICE. Just doesn't care.
