Very fun and challenging class. This professor made it an awesome experience with lots of learning and insightful class discussions.

Joe was my favorite teacher this semester. He's a super funny, good guy. The stuff he teaches is always applicable and you know that he knows what he's talking about. He does his best to make the class enjoyable. There's quite a bit of writing but mostly short papers. He will make you earn an A.

Super fun teacher. He didn't act too much different from the college kids but that's probably why he was so much fun. He gives about a homework assignment per class but it's generally easy and no more than a page or two double spaced. He would often say questionable things and that just made him even more hilarious. Lot's of class discussion!

Brother Griffin is an awesome teacher! He gives enough homework that you are able to learn, but not so much you're swamped. He explains his subject in a clear and fun way. He is good at making students feel comfortable to ask questions, participate, and discuss their grades.

Joe is a great teacher. He took the time to give us feedback on assignments. He likes to joke with his students and sometimes he will hold class in the crossroads and make it a "food day." He is a very relaxed guy and his classes are interesting. I highly recommend this professor.

English class is usually my least favorite class but this one I enjoyed. He is a realistic teacher that gives enough homework for the student to learn but it is not an overload. He is also a hilarious teacher. It was a challenging but I learned more than in any other English class. I would take another English class from this professor again.

Brother Griffin intends for an A to be difficult to obtain, but passing is fairly easy. He gives a reasonable workload with most essays being 1 page, a few being 500 words, and the final essay being 1100 words. Complete all your assignments and you'll probably pass. Interesting and lively group discussions.

Great teacher, you will read articles and write a one page paper of what you learned. He wants you to get something out of this class, he will challenge you at times is trying to challenge you but because he wants you to succeed. You will have the occasional pop quiz they are not hard usually 3-5 questions just from the reading.

This class was awesome! He makes english enjoyable by cracking jokes and getting real with you. Each class period there is either reading and/or a reading response due. The reading responses are easy, they are just a page and are not graded harshly. The papers are normal and are given in advance. The textbook is something online. Great guy.

Just Amazing, he really cares about his students, and he is willing to work with you if you have any missing assignments. If you do your assignments on time you got it in the bag.

Brother Griffin's class is refreshing. He brings depth while keeping things upbeat and interesting, and he facilitates excellent discussions. He is always willing to answer questions and help with assignments. He is knowledgeable, fair, easy going, and honest. He taught us not to take ourselves too seriously and to find joy in life and school.

Super cool guy. You do write papers, but he doesn't grade them hard, and they are topics that are actually interesting for college students. Only english class I have ever enjoyed.

Joseppi is the greatest english teacher of all time. Seriously a breath of fresh air, and by far my favorite class all semester. Super laid back, but just as involved as any other teacher. Workload is moderate, but at the end of the semester he literally uses class time for writing so he can help you write your final essay.

Joe Griffin is down-to-Earth, easy to identify with, and hilarious. He responds to emails quickly and is fair in his grading. He trusts his students a lot and enjoys what he teaches. I personally believe everyone needs to take this course in their college career to help them once college is over.

Joe is probably one of the best professors on this campus. He is knowledgeable about the content he teaches, but teaches it in a way that helps everybody understand. He is totally willing to help you out if you miss an assignment or are absent. You can tell he really cares about his students. Be wary, he knows when you are not putting forth effort.

I absolutely love this guy. He kind of becomes one with the students in that you can be completely open with your opinions in class. He respects everyone's opinion, and if you make a joke, he'll make one right back. Such a great teacher. He does, however, expect you to put in effort to get an A in the class.

Joe is by far the best professor I've ever had. His classes are inviting and accepting, making group discussion very free flowing and open to any answer. He's very clear with grading criteria but at the same time gives you space to make it your own and meaningful to you. He was always easy to reach outside of class.

You'll never be bored in class with this teacher. He cares about his students and knows his stuff. Was a pleasure to be in his class and he managed to break of some bad writing habits that I've had since high school. Listen to his advice and you'll go far. Organization was a bit lacking, however he was aware of this and did what he could to fix it.

This professor is awesome. He definitely cares about the students and if you ever want to meet with him or discuss anything he is more than willing. He definitely will admit his own faults and won't make the students suffer for any of his doings. In the other hand he requires you to be responsible and participate. Give and take. Would recommend!

He is one of my favorite teachers! He is so funny all the time. I've already recommended some of my friends to take 101 and 301 from him. There is enough work to help with your writing. He cares about his students a lot. He is super chill. Glad that I'm done with English classes but sad that I won't be able to take any other classes from him again.

He's hilarious which really helps in a 7:45 class. He's super reasonable with his assignments and gives clear explanations and feedback. I was worried about struggling in this class, but I'm loving how much I'm learning.

Best English teacher ever! He will help you with anything. He has a great sense of humor and he cracks jokes all of the time. He gets to know his students and he even comes up with nick names for each student. He gives a reading assignment for every class but he usually only gives 1 double page essay every few weeks. take him if you can!

Joe is FANTASTIC. All you really do is read an argumentative essay for the next class and have a discussion. You learn a lot in this class, and it is definitely insightful. We wrote a total of three big papers. He's young and funny. He understands that not everyone is an english major so he doesn't shove irrelevant english material in your face.

Joe is the chillest teacher you'll ever meet. If you have the option to take a class with Joe or anyone else, choose Joe. Do it. He is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had in all my years of schooling. He's a great teacher and does a great job with the 'Reasoning' part of the writing and reasoning class

I really enjoyed having joe as a professor. We usually had to do readings for homework and annotate them, and sometimes we'd have group discussions. Sometimes he might give you pop quizzes, but just make sure you do the homework assignments and you'll be fine. I had fun in joe's class, he's very funny and I highly recommend him.

I had this guy for FDENG 101 and he is still awesome. I love this guy so much. He is honestly hilarious, and he really wants his students to succeed. I cannot say enough good things about this guy, TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. You won't regret it at all.

Joe is a great professor he is always looking to help you do your best. There are not that many papers and the longest one was our Final paper which was only 1300 words. He is super funny and sincere, he gives all of his students nicknames to remember in addition to everyone's names. I'm looking to take him again for FDENG301.

Dr Griffin is amazing! Super chill teacher. He allows wiggle room on assignments if a good portion of the class is struggling. He's funny and understanding. Available outside of class. Yes, this is a writing class so you will be writing quite a bit. BUT the assignments aren't super hard. Most of them are like a page or two.

Brother Griffin is an amazing teacher who truly cares about the student's learning. There are a lot of small essays to write and mark-up, but all on interesting topics which you discuss in class. For an English class, I was surprised at how few papers we had to write but as I mentioned earlier, there are many essays to read and study.

Joe is literally THE best teacher I've ever had. He has an equal balance of talking about actual class material and going off on random tangents. He's reachable and flexible. It shows that he really values his relationships with the students and takes time to get to know the entire class. He's super chill and funny and I 11/10 recommend :))

He is so sincere with students, and always strives to make his class the best it can be. He is hilarious, and will always leave you with a smile after class. I took it from him with Zoom. His in class discussions (not on zoom) are the best since I also took ENG101 from him. He makes you write, and it's worth it. You wont regret taking ENG from him.

Joe is incredible! He is always willing to help. If you fail it's your own fault. I'm not a good writer and I did well in this class. You do need to read the chapters to pass his class, but they're short and easy. He is super funny so you're never bored! Great class and even better teacher!

He respects students time and makes sure he doesn't waste class time as well as doesn't give us busy work that doesn't teach us anything. He is awesome.

I took him in Spring of 2020 and he was amazing! The textbook in a need to pass his 301 class but its an easy read and not heavy at all. I personally have always struggles with Writing and he makes it actually fun, I wrote only 3-4 papers in his class but other people have told me that he's given around a small paper a week but that wasn't my case.

Bro Griff was awesome. Really chill dude, also really understanding, so make sure to reach out to him if somethings going on. Workload was typical of an English class, I was surprised there werent more essays tbh. Really liked this guy and always enjoyed his class

While his Canvas organization style wasn't my favorite, Joe's class was seriously pretty awesome. I normally hate zoom classes but I always looked forward to his. You do have to work hard to succeed, but he doesn't give a backbreaking load of homework either which is super nice. I would definitely recommend Joe Griffin!

Joe is great, he's got a good balance between being professional and being himself. He's so entertaining and is a great professor. His lectures are pretty good and he brings so much humor into his presentations. I adore him. Some of the assignments take more effort though, but he does want you to succeed.

I took Rhetoric 328 from Joe winter 2020. By far this was one of the greatest classes I have taken in my time at college. Joe's lectures are awesome and he teaches you what is important. What you put in, You'll get out. Joe's knowledge on Rhetoric will change your perspective on life. Take this class from him!

Joe is an amazing professor! He was fun but still explained things well. Participation is required but the group work is really helpful. His feedback is always useful as well. He's very understanding and clear of his expectations. Just make sure you actually turn things in and you'll do fine. Very worth it as a class!

Prof Griffin is awesome, he is really accessible and seems genuinely interested in his students. Reading the textbook can be slow but without it you would be lost in the class. My favorite thing was the in depth feedback he would give me for each essay.

Hands down the most I learned in my entire undergrad career. I wasn't expecting that, because it seemed like it would be a repeat of other English major stuff, but I learned a lot even from like writing a research paper. Maybe a bit disorganized at times, but he does not punish students for that and gives them leeway.

Joe Griffin is a truly amazing teacher, I worked hard on this class because I wanted to do well. His teaching style made me more motivated to complete the assignments. Do your best and make sure you know what the assignments are, even 1 point can make a difference in your grade. He is super fair and loves when you improve throughout the class.

Mr. Griffin is an awesome professor. He grades hard, so be prepared to put your best work forward. Mr Grif has some amazing stories and is the funniest professor I've had thus far. He gives you all the help you could ever need to succeed and goes out of his way to make things fun for everybody. The only thing he needs to work on is his dart skills.

I'd definitely recommend Joe! He doesn't really use Canvas-- we submitted several assignments thru email. Also it takes him a while to grade your work. There are not very many assignments in the semester-- so be prepared for class and do well on the big essays and you'll be fine!

When a teacher actually cares about their students it is evident in the way they teach. Joe cares, and it makes him the best teacher at BYUI. He's willing to work with you and help you become a better writer. BONUS: I was never bored in his class; the guy is hilarious.

You don't have to buy a textbook but he does make you print out everything, but that honestly isn't even that much of a pain and is super cheap. I highly recommend taking his class.

I absolutely loved Joe's class, but he could be very unorganized. He had a thing against canvas and a lot of time I would forget about assignments because he only told them about us in class. His grading was a little rough, he'd give me an B- and tell me I was a great writer. Overall I loved his class I just wished he was a little more organized.

While everything was really heavy assignments he was there and would answer questions each class. He as well was really good about letting us know what exactly we needed to do. One day we met just for fun to play a game while in class.

Totally a great guy! Super fun class and not too complicated with the homework. He loves participation, try your best and you'll do pretty well. His feedback is good and you can learn a lot if you just listen

ATTEND CLASS. Dude is hilarious and very secular. Harsh grader on papers, and papers MATTER. Be ready to print your drafts to bring to class, read the assigned reading, and stay off your phone. Participate in class often and respect your peers and you'll do fine. Accept criticism from peers during peer review and you're golden.

I am not the best at writing essays, but brother Griffin's feedback (along with peer-reviews done in class) really helped me learn and do my best. He is so chill and class is always fun. The assignments are a handful of papers to write throughout the semester. Some are harder than others. He gives good feedback but harsh-er with grading.

Great professor—very in touch with his students. For me, the content of this class was a bit dry (I'm not a huge fan of rhetoric/the different theories), but it was manageable with the entertainment that Joe brought each day. He keeps things light and funny, while still teaching effectively. Would recommend!

He is an english professor. 100% feels impossible to obtain, but if you try hard he is willing to give you a low A. He gives good feedback and does not stress over small syntax errors in MLA. I really enjoyed his teaching style. Biggest gripe is "peer reviews" of your essay, because fellow students suck at writing and give bad or little feedback.

Joe is great! He is a harsh grader, but if you make sure to have a great essay, youll be fine. Make sure you pay attention in class and do all of the reading.
