I have had Professor Hurd for both MAT0018 and MAT0028. Both semesters were some of the greatest I've had so far at TCC. Mr. Hurd is a great teacher, who really does care about your future. He will go out of his way to make sure you get the help you need. It's to bad he doesn't teach higher level math classes, because I would choose him every time.

If you're bad at math, you need to take him. He'll work with you until you understand. On another note, you have to take four test, a cumulative exam (he rounds your grade), quizzes, the Pie chart, and WRAPS check. He also gives several extra credit opportunities. Show up, stay on top of your work, ask questions, and you may earn a C or higher.

Professor Hurd is a great teacher. Class lectures go by pretty fast so you must be alert at all times during class. He covers a lot of material but is really good at making sure you understand it. He care about the well being of his students and is very patient. If he were teaching my next math class, i would register for his class.

He was one of the best teachers that I have for my first year in college. I enjoyed the way he teach the subject. He let the class participate in conversations and questions. You learn a lot in that class and if you don't understand something, he will go through it as many times as you need to overcome it. Take all the extra credit you are given!

I'm not good at Math, but Prof. Hurd was patient with me, and all the others in the class. His patience and determination for me to succeed made me want to work to my fullest potential and do well. This was not an easy class, and there was a lot of work, but the interest shown by such things as answering emails on weekends, showed that he cared.

College Success was a great way to build confidence in my college career. The lectures can be dry at times, but Mr. Hurd does his best to spice them up. Attendance is important - there were lots of grades for in-class assignments. Tests can be tough, but they're not a huge chunk of your grade; take notes during lectures and you'll be fine.

My first semester attending college, my adviser recommended Professor Joseph Hurd. I had an opportunity to take my first (developmental) mathematics class with him last fall. I enjoyed his lectures. Also, he was patient with the students. The students could call, text, email or sit in his math class after hours for additional assistance.

I took him for SLS2261. He is amazing. He has an upbeat personality and makes the class fun. The content was not very stressful, but I did learn from him. I would take him again. The class was comfortable and we broke out into groups often. I advise others to take the class.

This class is a absolute joke and I hate how its a requirement to get a AA at TCC. You could learn this entire class in a 30 minute youtube video but it would be free and save you 4 months of your life. Don't buy the textbook most of it is common sense and he doesn't use it. Professor is nice and you have to be incompetent to not get an A.

Hurd was great, one of the best Profs I have ever had. Cear grading criteria, easy projects based off of the leadership textbook.Each week is usually a Chapter quiz with two attempts based on the textbook (very easy). Responds quickly, grades easily, understands your hectic life, and is always sending out info about TCC events/things to know.

Can't say enough great things about Professor Hurd. Made his College Success class very easy to follow, was always energetic coming into class and throughout, and always made jokes with us. I use to HATE math! I have always been good at it, but my understanding for it has always been limited. With his class he not only offers textbook references, examples, but video playthroughs on how to do the problems. As a hands-on and visual learner this definitely helped! He also ALWAYS responds! 10/10
