took his summer stat course--loads of entertainment and fun, hardly any work at all and i was still in high school!

He moves fast, but really couldn't make things more black and white. Witty. Not you average boring math teacher. Highly reccomend

Real interesting and funny guy when it comes to teaching math. He puts things in a whole new light and gives you a new way to look at things. Do all the homework and get at least 16/20 on his quizzes, you'll pass all of his tests no [prob.

This guy is great. The only problem is that he speaks very fast. So if you fall behind, you've got to work hard to catch up. He gives daily quizzes to keep you on your toes and it does help. His tests are very straightforward.

Phillips is simply the best math professor I've ever come across, even after I transferred. He explains everything extremely well and repeats himself which is good for me since I zone out a lot. Quizzes and tests are easy and the guy's funny as hell.

His feature: talks real fast. But that doesn't mean the lecture is not clear. You'll get used to his speed of talking very soon. Gives out many quizzes but a good chance to study for the upcoming test. Study hard for quizzes, tests & final won't be a prob

I feel like I am in an auction instead of a classroom. He should slow down when lecturing so that students can actually understand him. Other than that, he is a good teacher.

I got A in this class, everything is well explained. Taking note is not helpful in lecture. Instead, understand what he saying is the most important.

He explains things very well and even though some people may think he talks extremely fast you get use to him teaching the class..he is really good at incorporating life situations with the math problems. I enjoyed all the great jokes in class too. =)

Hes a great teacher, and like the others say, he does talk fast but if you pay attention, he will drill the info. into your head until you understand it. Take him!

the man talks really fast;However, it forces you to stay awake to listen to his very thorough lecture. very direct,and very approachable in office hours. Will help you until you get it. DO NOT attempt this class unless you are willing to do the work.

He went a mile a minute - like George of the Jungle after eating the ground coffee. He'd say to the class, "You get it, right?", but who wants to say "No" repeatedly? He's not very patient with beginning/struggling algebra students and can be downright snappy at times. But he can be funny.

Very Good Teacher

Ok... so he talks a mile a minute, it keeps you awake in his class out of fear you might miss something. But you know, he is one of the best math and stat professors I have ever had. He is acerbic, witty, way to passionate about using farm animals in his examples. But he is fantastic.

Great guy, moves through things very quickly but does a lot of review. Initially it seems hard because of the speed he moves at, but you'll soon learn that he is very good at covering everything until everyone wants to know the information does know it.

he's a little rude, but ive never understood math better than after taking his class! He repeats himself a lot to make sure the whole class understands, and gives you helpful hints to the easiest ways to solve problems

He is the best teacher that i've never seen before. Most people said he is talking so fast all the time in classes but i disagree because he is very patiently to express the concepts how to solve the math problems whenever you need help. Keep going!

If you want to pass Stats I suggest you enroll in this class. Very informative instructor always willing to help if your struggling. Oh yea he doesn't talk that fast people, what do you expect he used to work auctions.

Prof. Phillips is an EXCELLENT instructor. He KNOWS mathmatics, and he will show you the easy methods to the maddness :) He is aways available if you need extra assistance. He is WONDERFUL. He really and truly wants everyone to understand the material.

Everyone here who says he talks a billion words per minute isn't kidding. But he's an awesome teacher- his lessons may seem easy, but that's because he knows how to teach all of them. You look at the text thinking, "wtf?", then you attend his lecture and suddenly the light comes on in your head.

He should be teaching at one of the Ivy League Schools. Like he said,"If you take Phillips class, your IQ goes up." It's true. Take his class and find out for yourself. The best professor in SCC. That's probably why his picture is on the homepage SCC website.

Yes, he's hard. Suck it up. This is college folks. I am actually learning in this class. Stats is an important factor in the workforce and I actually want to LEARN stats. Phillips MAKES you learn. He hammers the information in and he'll happily back up and explain again if you are confused.He's good

i dont find him hard at all, i find this class very easy because HE teaches it so good. i took stats before and dropped it 2 days after because i was too confused ...but phillips does a greatt job explaining it. His humor might be harsh? on some ppl but its damn entertaining XD i dont fall asleep!

lectures rediculously fast but the class is rediculously easy. attendance and homework does not count. quizes are given twice a week for a 5 class meeting week. quizes arent too badd, just making sure youre doing your homework, and gives pre tests that are harder than the actual test.

I left this class for my last semester at a JC & all though this guy has gotten mixed reviews, he really knows his stuff & uses lots of real life situations to explain stats. He talks fast but not so fast that it is impossible to keep up. Don't miss a class, you'll be lost the next time you show up

Mr.Phillips is a great teacher, just don't get on his bad side. Gives a quiz for every class meeting(if a 2-day a week class), and gives study guides for exams. Can be a little snappy, but is funny and will keep you awake. I would definitely recommend him for any math class.

I was terrified of this class prior to taking it but now i just laught when i think about. Mr. Phillips is by far the best math teacher i have ever had and this is from a guy who started from pre-algebra and worked his way up. Dont take this instructor if you seriously, cant take a joke. Mr. Phillips without question, is the best math instructor I've ever had. I've never got an A in any of my math class, in fact, I was always struggling to pass, but when I took Mr. Phillips' class, I got an A. I highly recommend him. We need more Mr. Phillips at SCC.

He is the best math teacher i have ever taken! He explains everytjing so well, and expects you to know it for the test. However he does prepare you for tests very well. He is cool and i am going to take his class in the summer for stats.

Great Teacher!! I took his STAT class and I actually really good, I ended up getting the 2nd highest score in class. In fact you didn't have to do alot of studying for this class. All you have to do is to go to each class and take every quiz he gives you. That will definitely make you do well in the exams. Great Class!

He goes quick and is scathing if students are slacking...(you're all worthless and weak kinda)...but, funny, funny...and he's smart...take notes, go to the lab, laugh at the jokes, sweat a little, you'll be fine...

At first I didn't like him. But as the class continued, I learned he can be helpful towards students who study before coming to class. Learn the concepts the way he teaches them, and watch out for the 3rd test. He'll help you if you're serious about passing the class.

this is a very hard class but he is a very good teacher. He talks fast and you have to keep up, cant slack off at all but he can teach if you do your work. stay on task, he makes jokes which is hilarious. DO NOT GET ON HIS BAD SIDE because he will and can chew you out. i saw him cuss out some ppl in my class..it was hilarious but craazy.

I took Phillips a few years ago and to this day he's still one of my favorite professors. Yes, he talks fast (fine by me) and he can be rude to some students, but only the idiots...so it is actually kind of funny. Do your work and ask questions and you'll do fine.

Excellent teacher. Clear and concise. Make sure to keep up with the homework, but that should go without say. He's about as good as a teacher can get.

Any guy,who can put up,on a daily basis, with that knuckle head Kings fan Gene Sellers,who shares the same office with him,deserves the admiration of the entire student body.When Phillips gives extra credit,he does not change it to regular assignment points later on.Unlike other teachers in the same office.I hope mike Bibby breaks a toe.

Ive repeated many math courses.I am horrible w/math, but Phillips is by far the best math teacher Ive ever had.The lectures are fast but he has his own way to solving everything, that makes it so much easier.Hes great & im passing w/a (B) so far.I recommend him to anyone who has struggled w/math in the past.

If you're mathematically challenged like myself, this guy us a miracle. He's amazing and he really cares. His humor always got me through the rough days. He honestly wants to see you pass, probably cause he doesn't want to see you in his class again.

Great Teacher, He does an amazing job, he makes sure his students understand what he is teaching. If he doesn't get to certain things in the section, he will cut it out of the test. He wants his students to pass, show up do the homework, you'll get a good grade, totally recomend him

i highly recommend this professor. he has a good personality and always willing to help us when we dont understand. He doesnt take role and doesnt collect homework, so if you take this class you jus have to pay attention to what he is teaching and you'll pass.

The first math teacher who is great in SCC. His lectures are entertaining; it does not bore you to death. Plus, he helps you aim for an A. By reviewing the problems that will be on the exam and gives you quizzes. We may use a page notes on his exam. Easy Teacher! the only bad part is he talks very very fast. We must pay attention .

Phillips is an awesome professor. He gives an easy quiz every day, and sometimes walks around during the quiz and helps you while your taking it! I couldnt have possibly asked for a better teacher. his tests are pretty simple and he goes over the lessons a couple of times. on top of that, the dude's freakin hilarious.

FANTASTIC teacher!!! He is probably the smartest guy I have ever met. He really knows his stuff and explains it in an easy way to understand. He doesn't waste your time. He doesn't take roll and doesn't college homework, so you don't really even have to go to class if you understand everything. He is the best math teacher I have ever had!

His pace is moderate, not too slow, just right. Assigns hw but doesn't collect. Quiz every couple of days. He reviews for quizzes and tests. And hw questions. He's not the kind of teacher that will throw in a problem on a test/quiz he hasn't taught you. He's in class to teach the math!

The good: he can teach math, first exam is easy and if you make it to the forth that one is easy too. Notes allowed on tests 2,3,4,final The bad: he lets the class know if you asked a stupid question, you get exactly 1 hour for exam. He makes **** comments political in nature. He is very discouraging if you are not doing well, he must have missed

He will go over things 3 or 4 times..he goes at a good pace. Doesn't grade homework and there is a 20 point quiz after each homework section. Throws out the worst score and takes the average. He's a great teacher!

He teaches math at a fast pace. Wait to ask him questions until the class is over cause he will make you feel hella stupid if its a dumb question. His tests are extremely hard. Greatest teacher at SCC ever!!! Pass the class with an A and i hated math. Notes are crystal clear. Test are fairly easy. STUDY THE REVIEW SHEET!!! That's because all he does is change the numbers around for the test. Quiz are easy and worth 20 points. He will go around to make sure you got at least one right. Very funny guy. DO YOUR HW THOUGH.

Mr. Phillips is defiantly an awesome math teacher. I can't stand math, but I totally understood the concepts he taught. He's lectures are easy to take notes on; he gives you a chance to ask questions on HW, and has a sense of humor that make class fun. He's not hung up on punctuality or attendance too much, Overall excellent math teacher :)

He cares,and for the lower level math classes teaches what is necessary. He was not comfortable with Math 34 students that lacked basic life skills. He whipped them into shape or drove them out. I suspect he's more suited for higher level math and more mature students. Great sense of humor and a warm personality. His office is open.

He is always in his office hours and you can tell he really likes helping you get the information. He talks fast like a carney or a hawker at the fair, it kind of helps you pay attention once you get used to it. He is really fair and he seems always prepared for lecture. I tell my friends to take him and they do.

Mr. Phillip's is one of the best teachers you could take at SCC. He is very knowledgable about the subject's he teaches. If you are a person who does homework and reads each chapter. Please do not ask questions in class regarding. He will embaress you, he hates dumb questions and considers almost every question dumb. Overall he's a chill guy.

I have taken this professor for math 100 and now for math 120. he explains everything you need to know to pass the class. He tries to scare you off the first week of school, but he is really a nice guy. if you are not good at math, take him! he will make you like math and also understand it.

Mr. Phillips is a great teacher. His lectures are very clear so you don't really need the book. Come to class prepared to learn because he gives 2 quizzes on Wednesdays and Fridays. It was tough in the beginning but it is well worth staying because you learn a lot. Very nice and willing to help if you are struggling. This was my favorite class.

Excellent! He goes step by step with the trick that you can catch all up. He makes hard chapter to be VERY EASY. No attendance but have quiz after class twice a week which you will learn by doing homework(don't need to turn in). He gives us review and go everything before all exam. All he teaches is in the ExaM. book just for homework)

Great teacher. he gives you full expamles until you understand. goes by his own formulas, and lets you have a sheet of noted for the test, and unlimited notes for the final. Need to show up for class because thats when you learn. No need for book. Highly recommended. Awsome Guy!!

Mr. Phillips is a quirky, fast-talking man, and a very good teacher. He is careful to make sure everyone is following along but he does move quickly. Has been teaching long enough to where he has it down pact. Knows exactly how to convey information to students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for stats.

Mr.Phillips is the best math teacher at Sac City.I had him for both 100 and 120.Math is my worst subject ever and he made it tolerable and way easier than I could have imagined.I tried taking 120 with another prof. and I just couldn't adapt so I went back to Phillips and was able to understand without any problems. Take him you won't regret it!!!

Hands down, the best math teacher I have ever had (and I've had over 3 years of calculus). If there were more math teachers like Phillips, people wouldn't hate math so much. He's not just smart, he's absolutely a riot in class.

I would take him over any Calculus or math class if offered. He gives a review sheet and goes over all the answers and how to do it to help you study and his review sheets are almost identical to the exam. Quiz everyday at the end based on hw. Doesn't collect hw. Does lots and lots of examples in Lecture to make sure you understand.

BEST math teacher ever! He does talk fast but if you come to class everyday and do the homework you can pass with an A. There is a quiz in class everyday on the homework but he goes over everything before the quiz starts. He's very helpful and can teach like no other. Only if every teacher was like him. There is a reason why he is rated pretty high by many students. Those students are the ones who do not really study hard for their classes. They are the ones who are dependent in life and they lack self reliance. This guy does not teach well but helps you out in providing you what will be on test. So you need not study to Ace his class.

This teacher not only cares if you pass or not but wants to teach you so you would suceed in the next math level higher (if you do ),hes very great teacher and (LMAO) funny but doesnt mean you can mess around. he experienced teacher so hes good at catching people and hes very good at teaching and explaining :)his class is also full even til the end

Phillips is by far the best math professor not only n sacramento city but probably in the top 10 in California! He has been teaching his whole life, very smart. I have already transfered to UCD and I still pay him a visit once in a while... especially when I need help with math. Have the HONOR of having him as your teacher!!!

The best Math professor at SCC. I had taken 2 professors prior to him and it was a day and night difference. He's hilarious, so it keeps the class interesting. On the final he allowed a page of notes. I would recomend him to anyone.

very helpful teacher that explains the material.He tells u wys to figure out prob's easier(his formula)& they wk, listen & take notes & date them & go over them when you go home then u'll do great in the class. U can use a page of notes for your exam so the notes will come in hand if your notes are correct, but the 1st exam you can't use notes

this professor was a pretty koo guy. he always cracks up jokes out of no where to bring some fun in the class. he doesnt reqiure u to have the book but it is helpful to study. the tests are based on the notes u take in class so if u pay attention, you'll be fine. he really knows how to teach and is helpful if u have a question.take him i recommend

i took mr phillips for 34 and 100 and i can honestly say if it wasent for this man i would have never gotten through math. He actually helps and make sure u understand how to do it. When he answers your questions he is not vague and will even break down problems in depth for you. When your wrong he shows u exactly where your wrong also. i recommend

I love his teaching style! easy to understand. he gives out practice test which is similar to the exam. very helpful and he's a genius!!! he explains everything very clear. True he isn't often open for questions, but there really is no need if you have been in class and paid attention as he addresses everything you'll need to know clearly and thoroughly.He'll even help you out with a clue on the (2weekly) quizzes if he can tell you are trying.(Lots quizzes=well prepared for exam.) This is thee BEST math teacher! He explains everything step by step. He assigned homework, it was your option if you did it because we were not graded on it. He helps you during quizzes which are the same problems from the homework. Last but not least on our final he let us use a pg of ppr. He rocked i got a B & wasent tht good n math!!

GREAT TEACHER! I took his class over the summer in 6 weeks. I DON'T like math but I enjoyed his class! He's really good at explaining the material. You get to use full page of notes on test and final is open to ANYTHING you want. He talks really fast so you have to keep up but GREAT TEACHER! I definitely recommend!!!

Love this class and professor! Didn't do homework; only made use of lectures and notes. Daily quizzes were extremely helpful in retaining information and learning the material. Tests are challenging but he gives you a study guide beforehand (sticks to it exactly; different numbers) and lets you use notes after first test. Definitely recommend!!!!

My friend and I took Phillips for Math 100, 120, and STATS. Look, if you don't take him and you suck at math, you are crazy!! I got A's in math which is UNHEARD OF! Yes, he can be harsh at times, but he is extremely helpful and loves what he does. Ask him about the rooster story!

Professor Phillips is a great teacher. At first, he comes off somewhat mean and he lectures very fast. But as the weeks go by, you pay attention more because he talks fast. Hard to explain. He kept me on my toes and i understand it. It is really easy. dont get intimidated by the class TITLE

Phillips is a really good teacher. His teaching style is quiet different, but if you adjust to it you'll do fine. I don't know how anyone can not like his class its really easy to pass. He gives you this review sheet for the test, and you just study that and you be fine. Funny guy good teacher makes class fun and easy. I suggest taking him.

Great professor. Very straight forward with what he want. He is very passionate about math and want you to learn. Attendance is mandatory. If you go to class you will pass. Review before right before quizzes(2 quizzes every week).No homework. For final, he let you use cheat sheet. I would recommend taking him for math. You will learn in this class.

Mr. Phillips is a GREAT teacher. I failed the class, but this isn't about my failing it's about his teaching. The bad reviews are fairly accurate, but those students were exceptions, NOT the rule.. LOOK attend class, study the test reviews,and do more than ONE HW problem and you will pass the class.. like me next semester.

This professor is AMAZING. Very funny, approachable, and not too many curve balls. Quizzes twice a week, but they are not surprises. Tests and quizzes are difficult because calculus is difficult. But, everything is from the homework so he is consistent and fair.

He is GREAT!!! He really knows how to teach. He's funny and very approachable. On exam days you can come up and ask why your numbers look wrong and he will actually tell you! Doesn't grade HW. Gives review sheets before exams which mimic the actual exam. I'm not diligent about HM, yet I'm still getting an A in the class. TAKE HIM. He's GREAT!!!

He explains concepts so well. i took calc in highschool and i was always lost and confused. But with him everything was so clear! quizzes are twice a week and they are always invlolving the homework. and he comes around and helps u during them if he sees you struggling! he doesnt collect hw, but its best if you do it. exams are fair.

This is the first time I actually like a math teacher. Math isn't really my subject, but this guy made it totally understandable. It was like he dumbed it down to my level! Do the homework and you should be good to go for his daily quizzes and exams

Loved the class! Phillips was a casual but effective teacher. The pace was very quick since it was a summer class, but it was pretty manageable. Quizzes were given every single day and tests came every other week or so. Homework was optional. I highly recommend this teacher, he is approachable and is very knowledgeable.

Philips, is by far the best math professor! Very clear and precise lectures. Do not be overwhelmed and scared by his fast pace. He goes over some mistakes some students make on tests and quizzes make sure you listen. Overall, a must take professor!

This is by far the best teacher on this campus. I hate math but helps me understand everything. He goes fast but you can always keep up. He is hilarious!!!!! I took 100 with him now 120 and def will take stats with him too. He is a must take.

IMO the best and a very hard-to-top prof. I was intimidated by his pace at first, but it's very easy to adjust to. He's quite unique and will just walk in and start doing problems on the board and after a minute the board is half-filled.Just pay very close attention, take good notes, and as he says,"You'll do your hw the semester you want to pass."

Professor Phillips is THE BEST! His explanations are very clear, and his humor keeps the class very lively. I couldn't have asked for a better math professor. Quizzes and exams are straight forward, but that doesn't mean you don't need to study for them. Study guides are VERY helpful, so make sure you do them. Ask questions, and he'll clarify them.

Professor Philips is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He explains the material so clear, even better than the text book does. Phillips is a fast pace professor, but knows what he's talking about. Assigns no homework but trust me!! YOU SHOULD DO IT. Grades fast and fair. I recommend.

I do not like math at all, or math classes, but his class was actually quite a bit of fun. The concepts were very clear and easy to grasp, and he reviews the quizzes and exams in class before you take them. He also sometimes shares humorous anecdotes which takes some of the pressure off of the math. I plan to take him again for 120 and Stats 300.

Take this professor for Stats 300. He is very helpful and actually cares for his students. Total of 4 exams, quiz everyday and a Final. Textbook is highly used in this class. He assigns hw but never collects it. In order to pass you need to attend class everyday. I've always hated math and always passed with C and i passed this class with a A. :D

at first we clashed but at the end we came to be really good friends he's a really great instructor I never did the homework I didn't even buy the text book that's how great he taught the class. and I passed with an A :)

I LOVE HIM! i thought i was bad in Math until i took his class! He's very smart, funny and helpful! home works are not graded. Just attend the class and practice and you will get it. Kinda fast but it won't hurt to ask him questions. He will explain it very well. i highly recommend him!

I have taken 2 classes with Professor Phillips and he is absolutely the best professor at Sac City. I wish he taught more of the higher Math classes. He is straight to the point about what he wants you to know and explains it clearly with relevant examples.

This teacher is cool. He jokes and cuss a lot. His work is understandable and clear. He will help you if you ask for help and if you try. Sometimes if you make a little mistake in your quiz, he will tell you to go back and fix it. He goes super fast and he put you on the spot.

Took him over the summer. Very fast pace but understandable and is willing to help you out in class or in his office hours. No hw, quizzes everyday, 4 tests, and a cumulative final. Can use one sheet of paper for tests 2-4, not 1st test, and any notes for final. Pay attention, study, and show up and your good. Awesome teacher, highly recommended.

Phillips is the best math teacher at SCC hands down. He's a fast talker but explains things clear enough for you to understand, miss one of his lectures and you'll be behind. I took him for Math120 first and then Stats and he really helped me understand the material, as math is not my favorite subject. Take him!

Wonderful teacher. I thought I was going to fail stats as I typically did in math classes, but this time was different! I don't know if it was because I just happened to pick up stats naturally or Phillips is a miracle worker-- probably a little bit of both. But I have since recommended him to a dozen people and they've all praised him.

Mr. Phillips is literally the best math teacher I've ever had and I've had a lot of math teachers! He yells at you if you ask questions sometimes but he's hilarious. The study guides are exactly like his tests. He doesn't collect hw but make sure you do it!

One of the best professors ever. Math is my worst subject and I took math 120 twice prior to taking it with Phillips (dropped both of them because the professors were horrible) and was able to pass the class with a B! I am not one bit a math guy (really struggled with algebra 2) but Phillips made stats a very enjoyable experience. Incredibly clear yet moves rather quickly. Show up, pay attention, do the work, and you will pass guaranteed.

Like others have mentioned, I am TERRIBLE at math. After taking Phillips' class though I feel like I can actually understand it. He's just a really great teacher who's patient enough to explain things in detail until you get it. If you need help, just ask him! He actually wants you to do well. So put in the effort and ask for help when you need it.

I have always struggled with math and never got the hang of it... BUT once I took Philips class it was so easy, the way he explained everything made sense and it was easy to follow along. Probably the best math teacher I've taken so far. No graded hw but you should do them, quizzes are straightforward, he goes over what's on the quiz before we take the quiz. He provides study guides that's somewhat identical as the exams. Attendance is mandatory, 3 absents is a drop. He's really humble, straightforward, and caring. Ask him for help.

Best math professor I've had! He makes learning fun, and he has an amazing style of teaching. He teaches you to get comfortable in doing work in your head instead showing all of the work on your paper. He also teaches methods that will make solving math problems really easy! Took this class over summer and it was a six week course. Yes it may sound intimidating but it's not unbearable. Phillips is the go-to teacher when taking any math class, especially Stats. Yes, he may be fast paced but but he stops to make sure EVERYONE gets it. He doesn't assign homework but do the homework anyway, it's a letter grade difference.

In the summer course there were daily quizzes, a few exams, and a cumulative final. Very straightforward. HW isn't collected. Test q's look like HW and lecture q's, so there are no surprises. He's very clear and gives you everything you need to do well. He talks fast, but you'll get used to it. Great teacher. I'd definitely take him again.

If you are terrible with math, have a hard time paying attention - this is your guy. Keeps algebra from melting my brain with good humor. Work is hard if you don't understand things! So work hard! Homework and textbook are not that helpful, but his texts/quizzes are always from lectures. Use khanacademy to fill in the rest of your time.

I took Math 300 (3 times), math 310 (3 times), Stats (one time) over the spring of 2015, and then I took it again over the summer, and all I can say is Phillips is a beast! He explained it very well. Dumbed it down for those who struggled with math. Confusing at first, but he repeats the questions multiple times. I walked out with a B. BEAST!!!

The material can get tricky but he never gives anything "new" on exams. He's not there to trick you, just to help you master "his version" of calc (which is much easier tbh). Overall good prof, he doesn't let you cut corners though! Your grade depends COMPLETELY on your performance on exams but he will give the occasional curve.

Class is direct and to the point; teaches you all the concepts he tests you on. He is a tough grader, but he prepares you for exactly what are on the tests and quizzes. He is available for office hours. Homework is optional, but really helps lock in material with practice. Funny guy,but I understand how some are intimidated by directness.

I have taken stats 3 times and failed. I took his class and passed. I could've passed with an A however it wasn't his fault. He is about the success of his students and wants everybody to pass. I took Phillips for Calc I & II. He's as good as a calc prof can get. I aced both his classes and I think he secretly curves his finals because I calculated my grades and I shouldn't have gotten A's based on how I did on the finals. His grades consist of exams, quizzes (generally easy), and the final. He's tough but you'll be ok if you put in work

Knowing the fact this class started at 6:45 am professor Philips made the class go by pretty fast. He is very straight forward and is very funny! Amazing professor. Every student needs to show up to class, do the homework, and take lecture notes. There are quizzes two classes out of three. Quizzes come straight from what he lectures, tells students to memorize, or homework he assigns. Exams come straight from study guides or graded quizzes. He tests you on what he explained on the board.

Class is fast paced and thorough. Tells you exactly what to expect on quizzes and exams. Yeah, he talks fast, but he'll stay on difficult topics until he's certain that the class is on the same page. Readily explains concepts that people have questions on and is able to read the class' understanding based on our facial expressions. Great professor.

Okay, so I HATE MATH....I do not understand it one bit and am timid to ever take math classes, but he took the time to make sure everyone in the class understood. When I asked for help he gave it. When you don't understand something, he goes over it again. He changed the way I look at math and is the BEST math prof I've ever had.

Amazing professor. The textbook is really only for doing homework. Final grade is based off your average grade from section quizzes (worth 20 points each) and tests taken. He allows notes on all exams except the first. He's straight forward and is willing to take time to help you understand if something is not making sense to you.

Prof Phillips is hilarous and made stats more bearable. Im currently taking his 6 week summer course and if you're thinking about taking it, be ready to work. If you miss two classes you're dropped, homework every night and a test every week and a half. But he explains things fully and helps you even during the tests/quizzes. He wants you to pass.

Like other students, math just really wasn't my thing but after taking his class math is no longer a problem for me. He assigns homework but he doesn't grade it. There are quizzes every Wednesday and Friday which are easy and based on what you just learned that day. Take this professor!! He's amazing and you will finally understand math :)

I failed statistics in high school but this professor is amazing. He's funny and kind. Also on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th exams, he allowed to bring a sheet of notes. And for the final, we were allowed to bring all our tests for help. Chapters finish quickly so don't skip classes.

First day of class, I was very intimidated by Prof. Phillips. After a few classes, I got used to his style, and he turned into my favorite teacher. He has study guides before every exam and quizzes at the end of every class, so as long as you show up and work you're guaranteed to pass.

This is my second time taking Professor Phillips for a math class. By far the best professor I have ever experienced in college. There is always a textbook for his class, which he really encourages you to get, however I passed his class without ever touching my textbook because his lectures are great. He assigns homework, but its not mandatory.

Anything relative to math is not easy, but he did a really good job on lecturing the Stat 300. Textbook is required, but he is so good that can teach you without looking at the book. There's hw on the textbook but he never check on your hw. He believes if you can get the daily quizzes right, you either do the hw or you are good on this class.

Professor Phillips is one of the best professor of Mathematics and Statistics. He is always on time and never miss the class. He teaches everything two times so that the students can understand well. His exams are not easy and the student have to work hard in order to pass the class. He talks faster but still his way of teaching is amazing.

From reading other people's reviews, Professor Phillips' teaching style isn't for everyone, but for me the way he taught things was easy to understand. I barely touched the textbook but if you need practice, get it, just don't go by what the text tells you because he lectures differently. Never been more confident in math than I have in his class!

AMAZING!!!! When you get past the teasing and jokes, Philips is a really great teacher! His lectures are engaging, clear and hilarious! His grading is straight forward and he walks through every test. There is NO MANDATORY HOMEWORK! You can use PREPARED STUDY GUIDES ON TESTS! EASY A if you show up to class and prepare for tests!

Took this class over the summer, and he made the 3-hour lectures fly by. He made stats very easy to understand. Test and quizzes were easy.

I always dreaded Statistics but I really enjoyed Professor Phillips class. I took him over the summer and it flew by. If I could have him for all my math classes I would. He takes the time to make sure his students understand the materials before moving on. Highly recommend him.

Professor Phillips has been the most respectful/kindest/hard working professor I have ever met. Hes the best math professor at Sac City College. Anytime anyone was confused on a subject/calculation/anything, hed come over to your desk and figure out why it was the wrong answer or what you were confused on. Thank you again Phillips!!

He is a very good professor. Explains things very clearly. He has an awesome way of explaining tough subjects which makes things very easy. The only thing I do not like about him is being very tough grader. He takes a lot of points off for small mistakes - no partial credit. I have not had a professor as tough grader as him.

This guy is a character... in a good way. He wouldn't be funny often but when he joked around he was hilarious. He goes over what he teaches so much that if you don't get an A in his class it's your fault not his. He goes over EXACTLY what will be on the quiz and test and final. Easy A if you try hard. I got a B because I didn't buy the calculator.

He's great in person but amid all this Corona Virus stuff we were forced to move online. He's very technologically illiterate. Before classes got moved online he didn't even know what Canvas what. His lecture videos are recorded through the webcam and built-in microphone on his laptop so they're horrible quality. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ONLINE CLASS

Im the worst at math I basically cheated in every math class I ever took to oath. With the exception of Prof Philips Stats 300 class. Hes amazing. If you get the opportunity to take him please dont hesitate
