I have this class right now and it's a great class. professor Kirkland has taught me more about life in general in one class then I have learend from any teacher ever. Interesting class, but long Analytical essays are the base of half your grade.
Lectures easy to follow. Tests fair as long as you read the book.
Very enthusiastic of his job. Very great professor. I approve.
This was one of those classes I took just because it fit in my schedule, but I can honestly say that now I have a new found interest in philosophy. He manages to make some of the driest material fun and entertaining. The best professors I have ever had!!
Great prof, learned a lot, very helpful and entertaining. Keeps class fun, so you wont go 2 sleep of boredom. Make sure 2 read the book, as tests and quizs are based of it. Test VERY easy, and most of the exam is from the quizs, exactly, so read it and you should do fine. I didn't care much but still ended with A- and greater appreication for Philo
Very fun guy, used excellent examples that were modern to get his point across. Made attending class a experience to look forward to rather than simply mandatory.
He is young, so his energy levels are high, and he is extremely passionate about his subject. Not overly concerned with data (dates, names, facts) but more focused on associating thought patterns with different philosophers. Read the book, participate in class and you'll do well.
Honestly this guys one of the best professors Ive had at this school. Hes hilarious and understands that people have other classes, not to mention hes really cute and smart. I hated philosophy and he actually got me to like it
I think he is one of the best. He is interesting, and I really feel that I've learned a lot. The class was no blow off, but it was laid back and enjoyable.
Really made class a great learning experience. Very laid-back and personable type of guy -- I liked having his philosophy class so much that I'm taking his Ethics course this fall.
Great Prof. Makes class and materials interesting. If you do the weekly reading and understand the material, quizzes should not be hard.
Good guy. One of the best professors I've ever had. Lets you go early a lot of times. Talks like a lawyer and corrects himself often. Read the book and the class is simple. Good sense of humor.
Unreal Professor. He is just the best professor at UMD. Cool, funny, and really leanient. down to earth.I recommend him....highly....worth it. :D
BEST PROFESSOR I'V HAD IN MY COLLEGE CAREER. And DEFF the most interesting professor iv ever had in my college career. And you guys know how boring every professor in college is. I dont get entertained easily but this guy had my attention the whole time in a 3 hour class. No joke. He's actually funny. Says the funniest stuff. Awesome Professor!
Kirkland is a class act. He is interested in the subject and knows a lot about it. He had my interest throughout every lecture and usually had the class laughing throughout as well. Fair grader, easy to get an A if you pay attention. No doubt one of the best prof's on the campus.
Great teacher. Sometimes goes off on rants but they're completely entertaining. Tests aren't too bad, you get to fill out a note card as a cheat sheet. Great teacher, very passionate.
Excellent professor. Has a very interesting way of communicating with the class, and makes the subject material fun. We did a total of five response essays from the readings and a few in class assignments that were pass/fail. Final was cumulative, but very easy. No midterm, no projects, no other assignments. I would highly reccomend him.
I had to take this class as a prereq. I dreaded it. Until I met Prof. Kirkland. He is an AMAZING professor. I had him for basic level PHIL and want to take Ethics. He is really handsome and has an amazing sense of humor :) and he knows how to connect with us students. I HIGHLY recommend him. You will NOT regret it.I could go on and on....... :) :)
kirkland is awesome. simple as that. you have to read the book to understand sometimes but his lectures are very helpful. he is hilarious. and not too bad to look at haha. take him if you have the chance. no regrets on my part
EXCELLENT teacher.. he is very engaging and clearly loves what he does. He explains everything well and is helpful outside of class. Reading quizzes every week and exams not too hard. Extremely good looking too :) I had no interest in philosophy until I took his class.
He has to be one of the best professors i've ever had. i wasnt expecting from this class but i was pleasantly surprised at how interesting and entertaining it was. Highly recommend
The best teacher I have had thus far. Only thing required is to read the chapters he assigns. tests are pretty easy too. I really thought that this would probably be the most boring subject, but he keeps the class entertained so its easy to learn.
the best teacher at UMD. He makes a confusing subject easy and fun. quiz every week on a chapter from the text, but the chapters are so short and the quizzes are simple if u attend class and listen. grades the midterm and final very fairly. Take him!
The best teacher at UMD!!! Class is easy and fun. Quiz every week but it's extremely easy. Normally 8-10 questions or less. Mid-term and final exams are also easy. Lets you use a note card on Final. Very very chillin class!! TAKE HIM!!!!
Best class ive had a uofm so far! He is very passionate about philosophy which makes the class interesting. He is also a genius in my opinion he is so knowledgeable. Went to ann arbor for law school so ya hes pretty smart. Weekly quizzes which are so easy and midterm and final which are qts from the quizzes. Definitely take!!
Highly Recommend, weekly quizes worth 30% of final grade, extremely easy. Easy midterm and final. Very nice professor
I had zero interest in philosophy prior to this class, but I loved it! Kirkland is a great lecturer, very passionate about his subject. The quizzes and exams are very easy but you must study both lecture notes and textbook. I was actually disappointed that he often let us out 10 minutes early!
Awesome class. He is interesting and pleasant. He has a huge vocabulary and uses it but explains everything clearly. There are 2 books and 2 tests. The reading is interesting and the tests are extremely fair and allow you to succeed. I would recommend him to anyone because he will spark your interest in philosophy and you will enjoy the class.
What can I say about Kirkland except that he is a FANTASTIC teacher. If there is one teacher that I will miss when I graduate from this fine university, it will most likely be this man. This class consisted of weekly readings and follow-up quizzes, a midterm, and a final. No homework!
This guy is the man! He's very clear in his expectations, and so long as you pay attention to his lectures you'll get A's on all of his quizzes. His midterm and final were reasonably more difficult than the quizzes, but still pretty easy so long as you look over the summary points of each chapters. And he lets you use a notecard on midterm/finals
Very organized class structure. Weekly quizzes that are mc and short answers. There is a midterm and final, attendance is mandatory. He's a funny teacher who is really passionate for the subject but I have to admit this class is going to be boring if your going to take it because you have to take it.
Excellent.
Kirkland is one-hell of a performer - this man defines eloquence. He has a JD but teaches Philosophy. If you can't pay attention in his class, you must have other issues. Listen and you will learn. It is difficult to find contemporary 'sophos' which is why Kirkland is a valued instructor.
Kirkland is the man! He keeps a class that most would regard as boring very interesting... for that, I thank him. Come to every class, as there is a reading comprehension quiz (just pay attention to lecture). Midterm and final are reasonable, but he allows you to use a notecard! Take this guy if you have to take philosophy!
Best professor/teacher I have had my whole life. He is so passionate about what he teaches, I wish he taught every class I have ever taken/going to take. Weekly Comprehension quiz each week after he goes over the chapter, and two exams with an optional note card. Easy to get a good grade/ and very interesting class. Highly recommend.
Kirkland is the best! He gives 3 tests, you can use a notecard on each which helps a lot. As long as you study the notes(i put all my notes on the notecard for the test and i got an A- on all the tests)and show up to class, there's no way you can't pull off at least an A-. Take him if you get the chance you won't regret it! (Wayne State Student)
He is an AMAZING PROFESSOR! I wish I could have him for all of my classes. He is interesting, funny, and VERY well spoken. You do need to attend class to do well, but if you pay attention, there's no reason you can't come out with a good grade. He seriously is AMAZING though. I wish I could have him cloned for all my professors.
Amazing. He is such an organized and fair instructor. He makes the material easy and makes sure that everybody knows what to expect and is clear on everything. Extremely nice!
BEST professor ever! I loved going to his lectures. The way he talks and explains everything is just amazing! If you get the chance, definitely take him, you won't regret it!
Prof. Kirkland is great!! His lectures are so detailed, but it is all based on the book. YOU MUST READ EVERY CHAPTER so if you don't like reading I wouldn't recommend this course. Super nice, he loves his subject, and tells you precisely what will be on each test/quiz. Love him!
Professor Kirkland is one of THE BEST professors at UMD! I loved going to his class. His lectures were based off of the text and the way he explained everything was easy to understand. And he is GORGEOUS. You can tell that he is very passionate about Philosophy. Quizzes were once a week, & very easy. Midterm and final is multiple choice. Very easy.
He's a very easy, funny, nice teacher. Grade is based on quizzes and a midterm and final. Quizzes are very easy and usually he goes over the chapter before distributing the quiz. His midterm had most of the same questions from the quizzes. Many times he let us take the quizzes home. Not hard to get an A at all :)
As an engineering student I had no interest in taking philosophy, but after having Kirkland as my professor I actually began to enjoy the material. He is clear in what he expects, he's very approachable, and his class is easy to do well in as long as you pay attention. Highly recommend him.
Really easy. Goes over everything. Just study and you will get an A
Class was over all enjoyable. He tends to be fast paced in class-i would recommend recording them, if not definatly take good notes. Get the book & read in advance-he uses it about half the time in class. The other half is more in depth info-which does end up on the tests; midterm & (not cumulative) Final. study & pay attention & youll do just fine
This philosopher is the man. I love this guy. He is one of the best teachers I ever had. His high rating did not come from nothing. His teaching style should be standardized in all schools. He has clear expectations. You simply read what you are suppose to and show up to discuss it. I really didn't think much of philosophy and now I love it!!
His teaching style is very impressive. He really gets you into the subject. All you have to do is read or listen to his lectures you will pass the class with an A.
I genuinely wish this man could teach me every class I have to take over my next three years of school his vocabulary and concise ability to get his point across is beyond impressive. I've never before had a teacher hold a classroom's attention and respect so fully and thoroughly. Nearly every seat is full every day. He is a truly talented educator
He is a great professor, really smart and you really want to pay attention, quizzes to go with each chapter to its pretty much mandatory to go to class but worth it, makes funny jokes and good references, really good professor!
This man really knows how to teach. He writes everything we need to know on the board. The class is set up with a reading quiz based on the book every week and 2 exams. He drops the 2 lowest quiz scores and is straight forward about what you need to know for the exams. He's funny and uses real life examples to help us understand. Taking him again!
The guy is pretty awesome for taking philosophy at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Had him for both required PHIL classes. Class is easy but you learn a lot at the same time. The text books for 233 are expensive for how much we use them. NOTE CARD ON EXAMS!!! Extremely helpful.
Very helpful, easy class, great teacher. take home quizzes. Must take him for philosophy!
Prof. Kirkland makes this class a breeze. He has a great delivery, which makes this otherwise difficult subject easy to pick up. 5 writing assignments, midterm and non-cumalitive final. Read the short book and you'll do great.
Kirkland knows his stuff! Makes a boring subject very interesting. Homework assignment every week, a couple of quizzes and a cumulative final (you get a notecard). His humor is awesome!
Honestly the BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Kirkland is the man. His classes are both interesting & fun(ny) and you learn the material really well. He is what every teacher should be. Take him whenever and wherever you can. He makes it really easy to get an A with minimal effort. I could rant on for pages on how great of a professor Kirkland is. Seriously!
He made a boring subject awesome. Explains every detail you want described from the reading, the only hard thing was the reading, fun guy though.
EXCELENT instructorprofessor, fair in all his class business, he conducts his class with a professional albeit fun atmosphere, Keeps the attention of everyone. You quickly get a feel that he is super intelligent, and he uses that for your benefit and never his own . He is also very humble and at times if not even a little to critical of himself.
I love this man so much. I bought the book, but I didn't read it-- ran purely off of sparknotes and his lectures. You have a quiz a week, but he'll go over EVERYTHING you need to know before the quiz! I love him. He is so entertaining and easy to understand. I wish he taught all of my classes. PAY ATTENTION AND YOU'LL GET AN A.
kirkland is the greatest personprofessor. i love him... taking his ethics class in the fall because i love him so much.
He is the best professor I have ever had. He makes you want to pay attention, so it is so easy to do well in his class. He is always there for you with any questions you have. The quiz a week is online, so you can use your book to complete it. I loved this class!!!
Dr. Kirkland is truly a one of a kind guy. Having taken him for 2 classes I truly enjoyed them both and looked forward to his lectures. You can tell philosophy was his destiny and he takes great pride and enthusiasm into his teaching abilities. Clear cut course, no curve balls, do what you have to do and you'll get the A you want. MUST TAKE.
Dr. Kirkland is a really funny guy. He is very passionate about philosophy and will bring that excitement into his lectures. His quizzes are online and based on the reading. I would actually read the articles then read the Sparknotes summary to ensure you understand. Two non-cumulative exams and is very clear as to what you should expect. AWESOME!!
Amazing professor. Lays everything you need out for you, hilarious, adorable, and makes philosophy really interesting. Maybe one day we'll see what he looks like without his hat.
One of the most dedicated professors I've had the pleasure of learning from. Funny, kind, patient, wise. He's one of the very best at UM.
Excellent professor, very educated. Teaches with enthusiasm and great examples. kind and understanding. Online quizzes are a bit tricky so prepare. Study and you'll do well
Professor Kirkland is one of the greatest professors at U of M-D. His lectures are enthusiastic and interesting, he loves his puns and lexicon, and he is more than willing to answer any questions or explain any concept. He is fantastic and I definitely want to take him again.
One of the best Professors at the University. One the of few I would actually give a 5/5. He's very considerate, and doesn't assign any unnecessary assignments. There's a midterm and a final exam. He also gives you a study guide. His lectures are great and really fun.
Very funny guy. His lectures are insanely boring unless your life is devoted to ancient philosophers. Pretty easy, study a few days before each exam, and type up his notecard. He'll give you an opportunity to use a cheat card 3x5 notecard. Type up as much information as you can on it, and you should be okay. Weekly quizzes 30% of grade. 2 papers.
Best professor at this university. If you think his lectures are boring, you probably don't belong at a school like U of M. He was always fired up and enthusiastic. Super funny guy, too. Made philosophy something I want to study now. Highly recommended. Take this man.
Professor Kirkland is one of the best professors I've taken so far at u of m. He is so kind and a very funny guy. He is very enthusiastic about what he's teaching which really makes the class more enjoyable. Quizzes are so easy all info is in the notes and book. I missed about 4 or 5 classes and I still ended up with an A. Taking his class again!
Great course, awesome lecture delivery, and an amazing professor! If you have the opportunity to take this man for any of your philosophy classes, DON"T HESITATE! :)
Go to class, take some notes, easy weekly online quizzes, make a note card to use during the exam, pass the class with flying colors. Barely cracked open the book but it's not a bad book to read. Take this class when you have a heavy course load and just need some extra easy credits. Kirkland is GREAT GUY and likes to be funny and talk a lot.
Extremely useful and interesting topics explained in a very organized, neat, amazing manner. Exams and homework assignment were great(Not too hard neither easy), also linient in grading. Would definitely take again
Best professor I've ever had. Take this man.
Very easy class through Professor Kirkland. Attendance is a grade in this class, but only a small part. Only had to write 4 'essays' about various Philosophical arguments. Quizzes and exams are online and fairly easy if you attend class. Reading the book is mandatory as some of the quizzes ask for specific information-- going to lectures is enough.
Very energetic professor who is eager to share his substantial knowledge on the subject. Exams and essays aren't bad, but there is a lot of heavyweight reading. Come to class ready to discuss the readings, although he doesn't always have time in the lecture for either that or questions.
He is an amazing professor. He makes the subject interesting and fun to learn. The exams and essays are decent. I learned a lot from this class.
His is the best!!!!!!! and very nice person.
Take Professor Kirkland. Go to class. Write 1 page essays. Finish online Quizes. Gain Knowledge.
All tests and quizzes are online. Gives weekly quizzes which are either straight from his lecture or straight from the book. Very easy quizzes. Gives the occasional study questions at the end of a chapter in the book, but they are very doable. Very entertaining and knowledgeable professor. Would highly recommend taking him for any class.
Professor Kennedy is an amazing professor! His teaching style is very organized and straightforward and he answers any questions and is not at all discouraging. All his quizzes and exams are online which is comfortable for students to take their exams when they have time. There are weekly quizzes and two exams, a midterm and noncumulative final
As long as you pay attention to lecture you won't even need to read the book and can still pass with an A. He makes lecture interesting and easy to learn and always prepares you for the test.
Professor Kirkland is AMAZING! He is the best professor you may ever encounter. He is very outgoing and funny, his lectures are so much fun, that missing one would make you upset. He is very understanding and it is really easy to do well in the class, all assignments are online. DO TAKE WITHOUT HESITATION.
i absolutely enjoyed this professor. amazing very funny and interesting lectures.
by far the best professor. cares for the students. easy class just memorize the notes for th online quizzes each week which are really easy.
He's great. He's relatable, funny and very caring toward his students. He genuinely wants you to succeed. Homework wise- Weekly quiz & 4 short essays (1 paragraph typed) to finish in 1 semester. There is quite a bit of reading to do but if you do it and attend lecture, this class is easy to pass. I would absolutely take him again.
Too good of a professor! Never seen a prof. care as much about their students. Kirkland makes the class super enjoyable/easy to understand. Just pay attention to his lectures which are great youll pass. He made 3 hour lectures fly by. Very funny/super understanding. Oh, also very cute, you wont want to miss class.. still so sad that I did once!
Best teacher I've had. He is so well spoken in his lectures. Class is very easy, and he is such a genuine human being who cares about his students both learning and succeeding. I would take him every semester if I could. Stud teacher. Recommend to everybody. All quizzes are online, as well the exams.
One of the easiest classes you can take. Kirkland makes the class fun with his upbeat demeanor and stories. Made me consider becoming a PHIL major. The exams are just the weekly quizzes.
class A guy
Professor Kirkland is kind, funny and his classes are never boring. Easy A class! Weekly quizzes due Sunday Midnight (gives you couple days). Takes couple min at the beginning of every class to bring everyone up to speed and reminds them of whats due so you won't miss. Midterms (2 of them) and finals were basically long quizzes.
I had a much better experience in philosophy class than most of my friends with different professors, and it was all thanks to Kirkland. He's both hilarious and very good at teaching the material. If you want to be absolutely sure you excel in the class, be prepared to do some reading, but he covers the majority of the content in lecture.
One of the best professors at the University !! There is a quiz due every week online, a midterm and a final both online as well. 4 (1-2 page) papers in total due by the end of the semester. Very easy ; I would definitely take again.
He makes you use his own book. Kirkland is really enthusiastic and tries to use every last minute of class. The only thing is try not to sleep in his class. . it's impossible. Really nice person though. Weekly quizzes and 4 essays, plus final and midterm (make your grade) all based on book and lecture. Very boring book.
The best there is.
Awesome professor! He's great at lecturing and really presents his information in a way that makes you want to get more involved and learn more. The class is rather easier so it was like a breath of fresh air for those of us who are engineering students. I highly recommend taking Professor Kirkland.
Best professor at this university. Amazing lectures and great class set up. Warning, he is distractingly cute
There's not much to be said besides, if you see an opening for one of his classes TAKE IT. Come to class, the lectures are interesting and tests/quizzes (all online) are WORD FOR WORD FROM LECTURES. The final is also online, with almost all questions from the previous quizzes (which you get back, graded!) It doesn't get better than this!!
Professor Kirkland was Awesome , I had a personal issues and I was absent for 3 classes and he was more than Welcome explain the Material for me, his Lectures are Interesting you will like to show each time because you will love to be there. I highly freaky crazy recommend this Professor guys , do not even think about it.
An online quiz every week or two, and all you have to do is read the chapter and review his lecture/notes. He also drops the lowest quiz score. 2 online exams, as easy as the quizzes. Homework every 2 weeks ish. And he's a really cool/funny professor who knows how to lecture so take him!
Professor Kirkland is great, gives real life examples and makes the class fun. Makes school slightly less miserable
Professor Kirkland is one of my favorite professors to date. He makes all of his lectures interesting and hes so funny. I wish I had reason to take more classes with him! Weekly online quizzes (10 questions) directly from the lecture and 2 exams. Attendance is required, but you wont dread going. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE, TAKE HIM!
Professor Kirkland is a brilliant guy who is obviously passionate about the subject he teaches - he teaches because he likes it, not because he wants another paycheck. Very energetic, sometimes a little too much so, but a very caring person who genuinely wants you to do well and get something out of his class.
Interesting lectures. You need the book to look things up but don't need to read chapters to pass. Take good notes during lecture and listen, you'll do just fine. Take home exams, weekly homework and quizzes but they are straight from lecture. Show up, take notes, and turn assignments in on time--you'll receive an A.
This was my first semester in college and I took two classes with Kirkland, these were hands down my favorite classes. Professor Kirkland is very passionate about what he does and has fun doing it. His expectations are clear and the assignments come directly from lectures and the book. I would take absolutely any class this man taught!
Awesome guy, I love him so much. So kind hearted and understanding as well as influential and helpful. 10/10 would recommend
Professor kirkland made this mandatory class fun and interesting. Class has quizzes and exams are online.
Very kind, always willing to help you understand the material. Made lectures interesting. Quizzes and exams are online. Only 4 1-2 page papers are due and thats it.
Professor Kirkland is the best! I could not recommend him enough. He is extremely clear on his expectations for the course, provides his own notes for the students, and doesn't try to trick students on the exams. The only exams are a midterm and a final, and they are online. There were about 8 homework assignments, but they are straight forward.
I had Professor Kirkland for my critical thinking class. Hes an amazing teacher and a great lecturer that keeps you entertained the entire lecture. Also a really caring guy, if you have any issues he always understands and is nice about it.
His class was okay. The book is required for the test and quizzes.
The best at UMD, hands down.
Prof. Kirkland was one of the best instructors ive ever had. His energy and passion for the topics he taught were palpable. Assignments were easy and I enjoyed every minute of his class.
Great professor, great lecture. Few assignments. Weekly quizzes, if you attended lecture you'll be completely fine.
His quizzes are very hard, I don't know in the world he has good reviews but there is no way he is a 4.8. This professor is 3.0, he makes quizzes super tricky and confusing on purpose. He forces you to buy the book, or you will get a 0 on the quizzes. With the book, you will still get a 0. His notes are useless, too much work for an elective.
Professor Kirkland is simultaneously hilarious and an amazing teacher. He clearly cares about his students understanding the material thoroughly. His teaching style is extremely enthusiastic, and it's clear he knows what he's talking about. Also, Kirkland, you're not a pompous jerk, so your argument is unsound. :)
4 short essays due at any time throughout the semester. All quizzes/tests are online. If you actually read the book and pay attention in lecture the exams are super easy (was finishing in 20 min and you're given 2 hours). Anyone can get an A in this course. Lectures are really interesting, Kirkland doesn't use slides he just talks the entire class
Fantastic lecturer and makes class enjoyable, not a chore.
Prof. Kirkland is the best Professor for any philosophy course. Exams and quizzes are online with plenty of time and they are easy. 3 essays that he grades very leniently on literally just do it and get full points. He is a must take!!!!!
This class was a bit unorganized because it was his first time teaching it in person I did feel like the lectures were super interesting. Attendance is graded so it's important you go, but he made the class enjoyable. the class did get cut short, but he did his best. I would recommend taking this class. In future semesters its going to be better
FAV PROFESSOR. SOOO UNDERSTANDING. GIVES E.C LEFT AND RIGHT. HE CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND WANTS THEM TO SUCCEED. LIGHT WORK. I WILL TAKE HIM MANY TIMES
One of my favorite professors at UMD! Took him for the 2nd time in my time here and I still love him. Very clear about what he expects, easy graded and super interesting topics! Recommend any philosophy course with him!
hands down the best teacher at umd. if you're looking for a DDC course to take, take this one. very very understanding and a light workload. his lectures aren't mandatory but they're very interesting. he's such a nice guy
Professor Kirkland was a very good professor. He ended up catching COVID a month before the semester ended but he still provided communication with his students and was very clear. He was very fun to take and loved cracking jokes. Would definitely take him again. The assignments were not hard and he gave everyone credit for the first essay.
Dr. Kirkland is probably the most considerate and kind professor on campus. His quizzes were very easy and open note. Also, the discussions were straight-forward. There were 2 essays but he gave the entire class 100% on the first class due to his absence. Those were easy too! His lectures were very fun and engaging, would highly recommend!
This class was odd this semester, since we skipped a lot of it due to his absense. During lectures, you don't really learn much tbh; you'll get more out of the online readings. I'd expect during normal circumstances, there'd be 2-3 essays and a discussion board each week - that's all.
Professor Kirkland was one of the greatest professors I have ever had. He is a really good guy who cares about his students and their success. If you show him you care, he will be willing to work with you. Stay on top of the work and you will succeed in his class.
Though he is a great professor and you can tell how much he cares about his students, it is incredibly hard to reach him outside of class. I've never gotten an email response back from him, and have had to bring up something in class if I ever had a question. Overall, it's an easy class; though he did not provide a rubric for the final project.
Loved this professor! Made his lectures very engaging and interesting!! Very easy class, one discussion and online quiz per week. Two midterms (online) and a final project. Just go to the lectures and you will feel prepared. He teaches the subject very well. He's very caring and considerate. I would definitely take him again for another class.
Hes just the best in every way you can imagine no need to even list it, everything is perfect. had a legit 100.00 A+ in his class.
Engaging lectures and straightforward grading system. Attendance is key, but worth it - the material clicks better in person. Unstuck study proved invaluable for quick review before quizzes.
Very fun and engaging professor. Assigns a lot of readings but they arent always needed if you show up to class
His biggest issue is that he doesn't respond to emails, so he's impossible to reach out of class. Excellent lecturer though, very engaging and clearly knows his stuff. Cancels class all the time too, which is either a bonus or a negative depending on your worldview.
Honestly the nicest professor I've ever had, he genuinely enjoys his job and it shows through the way he lectures. Attendance is mandatory but he's lenient, and understanding if something comes up. Final is 15% of your grade but he gives a study guide and it was really easy.
Love this professor, truly the sweetest guy. Taken him for 2 classes already, would take him for all of them if I could. However, I will say that he can be very frustrating to contact sometimes. Also, final was cumulative, w lots of material to study, but wasnt too bad if you did study. Overall, great, but don't wait till be4 the final to catchup
Professor Kirkland is the nicest guy probably ever. Through his lectures you can really tell he LOVES philosophy and cares for his students. The class only had online quizzes and lectures each week, and no exams until the final. The final was 50 multiple choice questions (50%) and then 2 short responses picked from about 5 prompts (50%). Would take
Kirkland is very interested in his material and also teaches with the goal of getting you to love it at most and understand it at least. All of the reading he gives in Phil 100 (idk ab other classes) is directly from who you're studying, and he's clear about assignments and grading. Easy to get a good grade if you try in the class
