152 w/ Krause was a lot easier, no book! Stats is typically harder anyway, but Krause makes it interesting and easier to understand without the confusing math lingo. "Hmmm..." He adds personal stories to keep you engaged, his exams are hard, but study it up first and you are golden, especially w/ the page of notes!!!

Raddest teacher at Cabrillo...Stats is kind of hard, but definitely the easiest type of math class that Cabrillo may offer for G.E. credits...Krause is incredibly funny, and its fun going to class.

Krause is extremely clear, has great notes, and easy reference. He doesn't believe in memorization but in resource. It's been 4 years since I took one of his classes, and I still remember him...that's a good teacher!!!

joseph is very nice and helps you if you dont like math. His writing is very clear and easy to take notes. He tests hard but if you go to class every day and do problems you can get a B

group and open note quizzes, hw was only 5 problems long each night and turned in at each test. the projects allowed extra easy points (so you arent just graded on tests). you can have a cheat sheet on the tests, but the tests are harder than you think. he knows his stuff and is very clear! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Krause is an EXCELLENT math teacher. By nature math teachers are kinda weird (and Krause is too), but he's clear, understanding, and very proactive in his teaching style. He's available for extra help if needed and will explain problems in another manner if you're not clear. I HATE math (with a passion) but actually liked his Stats class.

Ok, Krause is kind of entertaining. He definetely gets you to understandthe material if you go to class and take some mad notes. Unfortunately he grades like a bad ass, his stats class is somewhat of a **** if you dont have a math brain. Like him as a person, <b>kind of hard as a teacher.</b>

If you do the homework and show up every day theres no reason you can't get an A. You will get extra points for homework and for weekly tests and three projects. I worked hard, math is not easy for me and I got an A. I found Mr. Krauses lectures to be most helpful, he knows his stuff. Best teacher I have ever had for a difficult class.

As long as you go to class and take notes it's a great class. However, if you miss too many classes you might as well save your GPA and drop it. He's a fair grader, and very upfront about what he expects from his students.

Krause helped me finally figure it out: attend, take notes, DO THE HOMEWORK, and ask questions. If you WANT to learn he's the guy, if your flakey he's an SOB. Puts the responsibility on the student. Very clear lectures and expectations. Kinda sexy too... :)

Not a very good teacher. Most teachers teach you different ways of getting an answer, and as long as you show your work and get the correct answer it's o.k. but this teacher cares more about the process, and he wants you to solve the problem the way he teaches you otherwise he will take points off. Wouldnt really recommend him!

I found Joe to be a pretty good teacher. Very likable guy. Gives extra credit, and allows make up points on tests. Explains things so that a first grader can understand. If your a flake this is not a class to take, but if you show up and do your work its a very easy A. Allows calculators and a page of notes on tests.

Joe is really a good teacher. Lectures are really clear and organized and he expects his students to be that way as well. Assigned, but not collected homework. Tells you what types of questions will be on the test. You can use one page of notes for the test and it's open for corrections for half-credit back. Overall, good class I learned a lot!

While his lectures are to the point, I found that he oversimplified the material to the point where the tests were a bit of a surprise. He often did not cover aspects of the test material in his lectures, but he's question accessible and makes his lectures understandable. He does writes down EVERYTHING he says so class time longer than necessary

Krause was the best math teacher I've ever had. I failed math in high school but got 100% on his midterm. Krause's explanations were super clear, the homework (though tedious) was helpful, our quizzes were group quizzes, and we got a sheet of notes for the tests. Highly recommended! The material is still somewhat challenging, but still worth it!

His lectures are over-simplified, which makes the tests a bit of a slap in the face. I always thought i was ready for his tests, but then i realized that the test questions were way harder. If he gave us problems that were at the same level as the ones on the test, I think he could be a great teacher.

I regret not studying more at the MLC or with him during his office hours for tests, I'm positive now that I could have gotten an A. Just don't miss class! They say that missing class is one of college student's most common mistakes!

First off, the man made his own text book that's a total of 50 pages with answers oh and its FREE!! if you don't go to class and you don't do homework then why waist your time? IF i can get a B in his summer class then you can get a A during the regular semester.

Class performance was very clear. If you go to him for help outside of class he will send you to the math lab. His tests had curve balls in them, they all did. The homework (which he authored) did not give you that many problems and only every other answer which did not help to confirm the process. Tends to loose his temper and pout very often.

Pretty good, really laid back prof. Pretty clear that life issues come into play. Liked the page of notes and the outline for the exams, final to. Clearly passionate about students being active thinkers. Liked the class, but had to work to get a good grade.

Overall, he is an incredible teacher and has a great way of putting things, but to pass this class you better do the homework even though he doesnt make you do any, his tests a extremely tough and the only way to get outside practice is by doing the homework. a tough grader as well, also very funny in class

If you don't go to class and don't do the homework then you deserve what ever grade you get. However, he does through curveballs at you on the test BUT he allows you to have one full page of notes for every test, and quizzes are super easy.. A 1st grader can past his quizzes... NO JOKE!! but he is a hard grader so pay your respects to the math God.

I really enjoyed taking this teacher for statistics. He is funny, reasonable, nice, and in my opinion explained things very clearly! He lets you use a sheet of notes for every test and I just transfered all my notes onto my cheat sheet, and got A's. He's a cool guy and even if you dont like math, I believe you can easily learn stats from him.

Joe is an amazing teacher who makes his classes clear, easy to follow, and interesting. A math teacher who understands that most students are just taking this class as a mandatory requirement to transfer. Math 152-I would recommend Joe for anyone who struggles with math. His lectures are interesting and notes are clear. No book required, print from website. Work together on quizzes each week. 3 short exams of 6-15 problems. The rework policy makes all the difference. Do the homework, go to math lab.

Great teacher.Exams are tough but, he offers rework for missed problems on the exams for 50% of points back. Has in class quizzes a couple times a week that students work on together.I took his class in summer session and had to study 25 hours week, so, it is tough but doable. He is one of the best math teachers I've ever had! Group quizzes, you turn in your homework as a packet, and you can use a calculator and notes on the tests. He is really clear on everything that you won't even have to look at your notes during the test because he goes everything so well in class.

He claims he wants you to pass but will remove an absurd amount of points for small mistakes. Treats weekly quizzes as a learning experience to lose points in. Regardless, he is still the best stats teacher because his delivery is superb and 1 sheet of notes. STRONGLY suggest you get a copy of his tests from the MLC, they are always VERY similar.

by far my favorite teacher and class. I encourage anyone to take his stats class.complete the home work, work with others on quizes and 3 projects and put in time at MLC and you can raise one letter grade. Do need to show some deeper comrehension for high A on exams.

Krause is a very good teacher but can go on tangents. He knows all of the information well and gets it across clearly to students. He lets you use notes on tests and lets students helps each other on quizzes. In math 152, you can make up half the points you lost on tests by doing a rework and homework is optional. It is a great class!

Krause is is one of the best math teachers ive met at cabrillo. Gives you opportunities to get back points. He isnt easy just go to class take notes ask questions and take the quiz's. HW isnt collected but highly recommend you do it if you want a good grade.

Hands down best math teacher I ever had. Before this class I had failed MATH152 twice with different teachers (I was also dealing with some family issues). This time I knew I had to get serious. His approach and teaching style helped immensely. I wish he taught other subjects!

Cool guy, very helpful and he goes over everything in class. Not too much homework but the homework was helpful and relevant. Helps you prep for tests BUT he will take points off for every minimal mistake you make. Like, 5 points off for using the wrong word in a conclusion.

Joe was a very good teacher. He teachers students more along a stats route than calculus which sucks if you are going to take calculus. group quizzes, one page of note for exams, goes over hw on thursday, and quizzes on thurday. easy class do his hw that he has online and you will get an A.

Krause wrote his own math book so you will do homework from his online site,you must attend class to complete the homework. He asserts his authority immediately and can come off rude the first week, but after that he mellows and is a great teacher. If you play the game, as in do your homework and have reasonable questions you will get an A or B

Although J Krause is a tough grader he is also extremely helpful! Quizzes every week. Before every exam he will tell you what will be on the exam; he will give you the problem number and in addition the type of problem that it will be and what the problem will contain. His lectures are informative and entertaining, he's very enthusiastic!

I have always had a struggle with math teachers, but i really enjoyed his class! He is very good at what he teaches, he is super clear in his lectures and as long as you understand the material you get an easy A!

Always helpful. Before taking quizzes and exams he goes over problems that are similar to the ones being graded on. Homework isn't mandatory but should be done to pass the class. He allows cheat sheets on the exams which is very helpful. He gets madupset when you don't ask questions before quizzesexams.

He is awesome at explaining really difficult material. If you do not want to have to learn all the equations, take it with Krause! Everything is done in the calculator. Just make sure to be very specific with your written answers. Other than that he is great. Although, i still hate math, it wasn't so bad with Krause.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Joseph is the best professor I have ever had at Cabrillo, hands down. In the past I was never able to pass a math class. I struggled and failed many times. Best math instructor on Campus! Whether it's Calc, Stats or regular Algebra he is the instructor you want to have! Had him for Stats and he is funny, makes the work easier, will have time to speak with you in office hours or after class and will help you! Highly Recommended! Jay is the BEST math teacher I have ever had. He is extremely helpful when teaching lessons. He doesn't even have a textbook, he says "your notes are my textbook". He really knows what he is talking about. When you have a question or need help, he will sit down and help you clarify the problem. I definitely recommend him as a teacher!

Krause is a great math professor. He presents the material in a clear way, especially if math isn't your forte. He is an extremely tough grader though. He will deduct points on any minor detail, which is sometimes frustrating.

Makes pour over coffee for himself during the middle of a lecture. Funny. Personable. Easy going. Over shares but this just makes him more relatable. Just all around a great guy who loves math. Statistics problems are fun and approachable. Not like lame problems in textbook. Put effort into this class and you are sure to do well.

Krause is a great professor. He really presents the material in a clear and simple way. He grades terribly hard and it sometimes it seems unfair, but he makes up for it at the end of the semester. Your grade is based on two projects, four exams, homework, and class quizzes. But you get to use a calculator for literally everything. Recommend!

GREAT at what he does. Don't miss a class because he has his own programs that he wants you to use to solve problems. Do your homework and you are certain to get a B. Do your homework the last two weeks before your test. So that you can practice it better.

I took Krause's class for Intermediate Algebra and Statistics. He is a very good professor who is very clear and concise. Stats is hard but he has two projects which will help boost up your grade. Jay made me believe in my math abilities for the first time in my academic career. He is hilarious and crystal clear about what he expects. The care and respect he has for his students is so rare. J is a compassionate, straightforward individual. However, even if you take good notes & do your HW, you won't pass. The key is to understand his teaching & wording style. Study quizzes, class examples, exams from previous years, & attend his office hours. I struggled throughout, but he helped me with the projects & encouraged me not to drop out.

I cannot recommend J Carl enough. He is a very well respected veteran teacher and it shows. J Carl is very funny and actually cares about the grades of his students. He makes an effort to talk to each one. He has great group activities and connects every lesson to the real world.

J genuinely cares about his student's success and he teaches the material in a language that students can understand. Attendance and maturity are pertinent. He will call you out if you are disrupting class. He has a great sense of humor, his class is never boring. A student who is prepared to work hard will succeed in this course

I had Jay over the Summer of last year and he was awesome. Very helpful and willing to go the extra mile for his students. He would take real life examples and connect them to math which is always nice as it can be miserable. He made it enjoyable. He also lets you take a full sheet of paper of notes for tests and did not make us buy a book.

He is very experienced at what he teaches. Your math fundamentals will really be solid if you take his courses. I never really liked math but the way he incorporates real life examples with math makes it more interesting. Definitely one of the best professors in campus.

Professor Krause is without a doubt the best math professor/teacher i've ever had. He actually cares about his students, and genuinely wants everyone to pass. Group quizzes, test corrections, and great lectures. Wish I could have him for calculus next semester.

Krause is the best math professor I've ever had. I've never done well in any math course in my life and I passed with a high A. As long as you put in the work and pay attention (stay off your phone!) you will pass.

J is one of the best teachers that I have had. He is the first math teacher to help me actually understand and even filled the gaps in my knowledge. You will need to be academically mature and consistently go to class if you want to pass his class. He is willing to help those who show effort but don't try to B.S. him, he is too smart for that.

I am NOT usually into math. I have never ENJOYED a math class before this guy, and I can honestly say I like this one. While attendance isn't mandatory, it is definitely important that you show up, esp because he does NOT use a textbook. J wants you to pass and gives many opportunities/tools to help you. If you put in the work, you'll pass.

J is honestly the best teacher I've had in my life. He genuinely wants to teach you, wants you to learn, and pass the class with a full understanding of what's going on. He's accessible outside of class and he's real with you, there's no sugarcoating or trick questions or anything. I've been horrible at math my whole life up until I took his class

I've never had a teacher that was so focused on his students success! This guy is amazing. He is respectful and treats students as adults. He assumes that we are here to learn and not trying to skip by. Immature students will get called out. Stay off your phone, stop chatting, pay attention. Good class if you do.

I started with remedial algebra and followed him all the way through to statistics, getting A's all the way. My inability to pass a math class before is something to take note of. This guy knows how to teach math. He is funny, approachable and repaired my math ptsd. Gotta do the homework. I recommend working in a study group to make it fun.

He's tough but if you go to class and dedicate the time you can definitely pass. He knows what he's doing and really wants his students to succeed.

Yes, Js grading is tougher than expected, but this is not without reason. Not only were we able to rework ALL exams for additional credit, but the quizzes were open note, open book and group encouraged. This is a teacher who while honestly go out of his way to help IF YOU ASK, but just like any other instructor he will expect you to do your part.

J is by far one of my favorite professors Ive had. He is definitely tough, but cares about each student passing. Everything was note based, so I would advise to not skip class. If you need any extra help he is more than willing to work with you.

I dont attend class work but I get the notes book is useless try the homework it makes sense took the exam today it was confusing will drop seems like a cool person

J really cares about his student's success. He doesn't like to waste your time, and he doesn't like to feel like his time is being wasted, either. Be respectful in class, no phone usage or chit-chatting. Go to class, take notes, ask questions, pay attention, do the work and you'll pass. Statistics is hard, but put in the work and you'll be ok!

J is fantastic. He really made math enjoyable. Took Summer Math 152. It was enjoyable, clear grading, no need to purchase a book. Easy, enjoyable class and the way he teaches things is really helpful. Explains the reason behind math concepts which makes it really memorable. Any test questions you get wrong you can redo for half credit. Easy A

I took Krause for stats this semester and am glad I did. I have a really really difficult time with math, but I enjoyed the class because he is such a great lecturer and cares for all of us, it made me want to live up to his standard and make him proud. Attendance isn't mandatory but I went every class and it was worth it. I stan Krause!!!!

Very good math teacher. Super clear instructions, not too much homework at all, exams are exactly like what is taught in class. He gives lots of resources for help but I honestly did not need them. I attended every class and payed attention and ended with an A. Hes a little grumpy sometimes but hey I didnt take statistics to make a friend.

Doing summer algebra with J. its demanding. I don't like math but he has inspired me to do better. He tells lots of stories.

Stats is really not easy, there's no getting around it. However, J is very passionate about what he does and really cares about his students. He designs his class to allow his students to do well and makes it a very safe place to learn. Take J you won't regret it.

J is a great guy, is very respected, and knows what he is teaching. Stats is hard, but if you pay attention in class, LEARN the material, and do the homework you should be fine. Each exam is allowed a "cheat sheet", he doesn't like distractions, and isn't afraid to display emotion. Just remember to learn the material instead of just writing notes.

J is the most consistent teacher. He's clear on what he tests on and how he grades. That means if you pay attention in class to the concepts and how to heavily use the calculator, then you'll do great. If not, then you won't. He has quizzes each week. Those and the worksheets he hands out are your best friends bc they're similar to his tests.

i never left the class confused and J structured the class really nicely 10/10 would take again. one thing that i'd change is i wish i went to si more because alani was great i hope she does it again

J is an excellent instructor! Hes clear about his expectations and very reasonable! Hell say and write on the board exactly what you need to know, no tricks ! It can be a challenging class but if you keep up and do the work from the beginning you will be okay! If you have questions ask him or SI leader, MLC doesnt work well for his class.

J Krause is a great math instructor. Even if you have trouble with math, he really helps you on what you can improve. You can tell he really cares about teaching.

Krause is a super nice, chill guy. Math 4 is hard and you definitely have to work for your grade, but he is there to help and wants you to succeed. When taking the class online, he doesn't collect homework but highly suggests you do it. He's a great professor and overall a great guy

I don't like math,never enjoyed it. I was so nervous about this class and then boom this guy made my life so easy! The hw is due the day of the exam. I took it fall 2020 which means online. He recorded all the lectures and you could attend any of his stats lectures even if you were not registered for that one specifically. 10/10 would recommend

I definitely recommend taking this class. It is difficult but Jay helps out during his lectures and teaches what will be on the exams. There are weekly quizzes but its not too bad because you dont need to turn in the homework.

Easy class for people who understand basic math and logic. Text book was cheap and homeworks werent too long. Take home group quizzes and he was extremely helpful in and out of class and he was flexible when I had to miss a ton of class for work.

I am not a Math person but Krause made learning about Stats enjoyable! His online course was lecture heavy (you could attend live, or choose to watch later) with very reasonable reading/homework, weekly quizzes, 3 exams and the final. I rarely needed my book because his lectures were so detailed and concise. Definitely recommend his course!

His lectures were quite easy to grasp and understand. I highly recommend taking J. Carl Krause because his pace when teaching lectures is not too fast and too slow either, it's perfect. The way he explains important parts of a lecture makes it easy for students to understand materials. There's an open note quiz once a week.

Took him for math 152 when I was in 10th grade, it was a vey tough class but he was great. Put in the work and you'll get the reward. He makes math really interesting and he writes helpful notes on the board as he speaks. I would absolutely take his class again.

Seems like a "sink or swim" course. I wasn't well prepared and his exams killed me. Thankful that he has a rework policy. Good lectures (take detailed notes and go over them) and do the homework.

Attend all the lectures and take very careful notes, including Jay's extra comments about the notes. That helped tons in my comprehension of the concepts and differentiating all the formulas. Jay's very organized and clear about the contents of the exams. Loved this class because Jay made the concepts relatable to "facts" we're exposed to daily.

J is a great teacher and I am glad I was able to take his classes before his retirement. Math 4 is a challenging class, but he really wants you to master the material and become proficient. He truly cares about the success of his students.
