He's a great professor and his biggest strength is his clarity.
Everything he covered in lecture was on the homework and tests. If you go to lecture, pay attention and do your homework, then you should have no problem with the course.
excellent professor. clear and precise ! If you study ... You will learn !!!!
He is a great lecturer, it is worth waking up for the 730's instead of going to the 430 lecture. He gives fair tests, and he does his best to prepare you for the tests.
The lectures are very helpful, and easy to understand. All lectures are provided online and emailed to us.
I love the class even though I'm not doing too hot in it. He is very helpful. Tests are tough but will certainly prepare you for any other math you take beyond Calc 2. Highly recommend.
So awesome. Examples done in class are directly on the homework and tests. The subject material is tough but if you study, you should be good.
He's a solid professor! For calc II, he's about as good as it gets.
He is a very good professor. His lectures are clear and cover nearly everything you need to know for the homework, quizzes, and tests. He has a genuine love for Calculus and it shows. The class can get rough at times, but Chen is there to help when you need it. He also has all the lectures recorded and emails the link to us every day of class.
Chen really cares about wether or not his students understand his lectures. He goes through many practice problems and sends you the lecture notes and lecture through email after class. The material can be hard but he does his best making sure you are well prepared and know exactly what kind of problems will be on the test. Amazing professor.
If you're gonna take MA 162, you're not gonna get better than Chen. Really amazing. Very easy to understand and he has a genuine interest for what he's teaching. You must study for tests, otherwise you will definitely fail the tests. If you have trouble understanding something, he's always at his office hours.
Awesome class. Very tough tests and material.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you really need to make sure you don't miss lecture. Chen takes time to go through a plethora of examples to make sure his students completely understand the material, and if you don't quite get something during lecture, he's always in his office hours to offer more help. For MA162, you can't get better than Chen.
Great professor. Clearly goes through material while adding humor. Furthermore, posts all lectures online, so I never had to actually go as it was a 7:30 class.
Great professor. Lectures are clear and have a good structure every time. Also records lectures and emails them to the class which is a life saver considering the lectures were at 7:30.
Best of the two lecturers in Fall of 2015.
Awesome guy! Loved him. Clear notes. Nice sense of humor. You can even skip the class, b/c he would send recorded notes (video including his voice and notes) every time after the lecture. I wish i could have him for calc III. Once more - amazing guy!
Really a great professor compared to others! I think I can get a A+ if my MA 261 teacher is as good as him.
Good instructor, very clearly explain the class. Another hard class, but with his help it's gonna be fine. He sends notes and videos after every class, so even though that's 7:30 class you still will be fine.
Good instructor, very clearly explain the class. Another hard class, but with his help it's gonna be fine. He sends notes and videos after every class, so even though that's 7:30 class you still will be fine. But the exam is still not easy either, and you still must be hard working
I switched to Chen after having Catlin for four weeks and this probably saved my calc 2 career. Chen is funny, super into what he's doing, and explains everything wonderfully. Calc 2 is quite hard, but now that I have Chen's lectures, I'm totally with it.
Great professor! Very clear and answers all questions clearly. Highly recommend any of his courses.
Amazing professor. You can easily notice that he hard work that he puts into the class because he genuinely wants to see his students excel. He doesn't make things harder than they have to be. He explains everything thoroughly, clearly and makes even 7:30 classes worth going to.
This man is an amazing teacher! He comes to every 7:30 lecture excited to teach and does a perfect job explaining the material. All of his examples are similar to the homework which really helps. He is very approachable for help. He is worth waking up at 6am three days a week. I'm taking his MA 261 class next semester because I enjoyed him so much!
The best math teacher I have ever had, he does a phenomenal job explaining concepts and makes 7:30's enjoyable. Even if you're not an early-riser it's not a problem, he sends out recorded lectures and notes. He'll actually make you enjoy math unlike the other math professors at Purdue. He values learning and wants to see you succeed. DO HOMEWORK.
Professor Chen gives very good-quality lectures with many examples on top of concepts. The examples he gives are always relevant to homework/quiz/test questions. I have him for MA 261 and it is definitely obvious that he knows his stuff. He's pretty funny too.
BEST CALCULUS PROFESSOR AT PURDUE!
Solid math professor, goes over topics very clearly and works through lots of examples. You have to pull your weight a little bit and 7:30 lectures aren't ideal but they're worth it.
Really good professor for a difficult class.
Professor Chen is an amazing teacher. I had him for Calc 3, which is a hard class, but he's by far the best professor for it. Kids who don't have him ask kids with him for their online lectures!
The best professor at Purdue by far!
Students admire Professor Chen and would like to take him for every math course they take. He explains everything so well and is worth waking up at 7 to attend his lectures. best of all, his lectures are on boilercast so that way students can review his lectures after lecture.
Love Chen! Such a great professor. He does have 7:30s but you can always skip class and watch the lectures he posts online! Has the occasional jokes that are hilarious. Overall, really genuine guy who cares about his students. His lectures are also usually very clear.
He is 100% amazing at explaining higher dimensional mathematics.
Chen is an amazing lecturer. He is always prepared for class and he presents difficult material in an incredibly clear manner. If he taught all of the math courses, I would major in math.
Awesome professor for MA 261, best lecturer out there for large group of students. Clear and concise examples.
Outstanding professor! Would say that the only problem is that the class starts at 7.30 in the f-ing morning. Then again, he has BoilerCast lecture videos posted on BlackBoard after every class. Getting textbook is not mandatory if you attend his class. Alos very helpful in answering questions, via email or through office hours.
Professor Chen is really good at what he does. Even in large lectures, he is easy to understand and explains all of the concepts really well. He may make a rare mistake but he acknowledges the mistake and corrects it instantly. The best part is that you do not even have to show up to lecture. You could watch his online videos and still do well.
Great at explaining concepts. Cares about his class. One thing that could be fixed is the arbitrary grading system that the Purdue Math Department uses..
Probably the best professor I will ever have in terms of raw ability to teach. Makes what is considered by many to be the hardest lower level undergraduate math course actually quite fun and I'd go as far as to say easy imo. He talks slowly, but that's a good thing because it gives you ample time to process everything and he doesn't fall behind.
One of the best math professors at Purdue. Many of my friends stopped going to their own lectures and watched Chen's video lectures on Boilercast instead. He speaks very clearly and goes at a pace that you can follow along. Also go to his office hours if you can, he actually wants to make you succeed.
Best math professor at Purdue. He records all his lectures and posts them online. Lectures are at 7:30, but attendance is not mandatory as lectures are online. Lectures are extremely helpful for this very difficult as he runs through lots of homework and exam type problems. Very lenient on make up exams. He let me retake the final that I missed.
Love this dude. Great handwriting and clear and concise explanations and examples.
Prof. Chen is wonderful. If you have the choice pick this guy. I've had him twice for MA 261 and now MA 303. I'm getting through this class just because of him. His notes are a good review.
Professor Chen is the best math professor I have had at Purdue. He cares about his students and is willing to put his extra minute to make sure that you understand the material.
His lectures are full of information and easy to read. Better than Khan Academy.
His notes are always on point and he always keeps communication between us and himself whenever there are changes. He always uploads notes and lecture recordings. Very clear and easy to follow.
The lectures are recorded and put online-- helpful for when those 7:30s are not your thing. 2 quizes a week; difficulty varies on TA.
Great Professor. Had him for MA 261 and MA 303. I took 303 online, but he posts his lectures online for all his classes, so even if you don't have him you can use his lectures. Super helpful during lecture and during his office hours. Always responds to e-mails. Wish I had him for every math class at Purdue.
Greatest math lectures I've ever seen at Purdue, and I am a junior, so I've been through a lot.
Holy cow Dr. Chen is great. Actually had a different professor for Calc 3 and I skipped all of his lectures so I could watch Chen's lectures online. Great handwriting, explains things at a reasonable level and pace. Gave me an unreasonable standard to hold the rest of my professors to.
Simply the best math professor I have ever had in my life. Most of his lectures are at 7:30, but it is WELL worth it if you can get him as your lecturer. He is clear, concise, and actually knows how to teach math. I would LOVE it if he could teach all of my other math classes.
Simply a wonderful and very methodical, lovely Math professor. Very very neat and clean steps in his notes and his presentation of lecture material and application is very good if you watch his lectures. Also very open and very willing to share any materials or lectures that can benefit all students. He has taught all Math classes at Purdue.
He is an extremely eloquent professor. He simplifies all the material he teaches so that we are embedded with the concepts, rather than just over-complicating things- something our professors here at Purdue love doing. He teaches as if he wants everyone to do well, and doesn't care as coming off as an easy Professor. He is a real gem!
My best math "teacher" to date. He explains concepts very well, and what used to take me 10 classes to learn in high school, he can teach it in 50 minutes. His notes are easily understood and clear. He has boilercast uploads which make it great to review. He is funny at times, very friendly, and is always willing to help during office hours!
Very good professor, teaches utilizing a lot of examples that are similar to what is on exams.
He is amazing!!
Professor Chen is always welcoming. He has a lot of office hours so it is always easy to find him outside of class and if you have any quick questions he is very good at responding to e-mail in a timely manner. Totally recommend his lectures!
Really just a quality dude- actually cares about the course and always uses great examples
Dr. Chen's online lectures for MA 261 were extremely helpful. He unfortunately didn't teach a section this year, but his lectures from 2016 covered the same material. Always works many examples and explains formulas and examples well.
I am a junior at Purdue, and in 3 years I have not had a better math professor.
His notes are really great and go along with the homework. The exams are tricky but he's very willing to help students and is very accessible! I'm not one to usually go and talk with professors, but I went to him after exams I didn't do well on for advice and he was very helpful!
amazing professor. very clear and explains things great
Loved his lectures! Gives great explanations of the material he is covering and genuinely tries to help us understand the material thoroughly.
He's the best! Honestly, the best Maths notes I have ever seen; clarity and perfect knowledge of the subject. He uploads all his notes and LECTURE VIDEOS ONLINE so you don't even need to go to class. But tbh he explains everything the best way possible.
I stopped going to my lecture pretty fast and started watching his lectures online... Highly recommend.
I never went to lecture because he posts all of his lectures online. His lectures are very good because of his great handwriting and great explanations. After watching other math professors' lectures, I feel like I've been spoiled by Chen.
Chen is an excellent and helpful lecturer. I stopped attending my scheduled lectures with Buzzard and instead watched Chen's lectures on BoilerCast. MA 162 is a challenging course and the difficult exams sucked all of the fun out of the course for me. I recommend watching Chen's lectures, practicing as much as possible, and getting help. Good luck.
Clearest math lectures ever, fairest math exams. Bonus that all his lectures are recorded. Even gives you notes
Great Prof!
Had him for 161, 162 and now 261. Best professor ever. I recommend watching chen lectures for 162 the most
I love his class so much that I'm gonna take it again next semester! Even though I'm failing 261, he is a great lecturer and his 7:30's are worth getting up early for.
He is nothing but awesome. i had a 7:30 class in morning and all the entire world would have not made me go to that class. The only reason i went was joseph chen.
Hard to know what you're getting with purdue math teachers but dr chen is easily the best math teacher i've had. His classes are normally at 730 which sucks, but I've watched his lectures online for 3 semesters and have done really well.
The best professor Ive had so far at Purdue. He is clear and concise with his explanations. His handwriting is very legible. He comes prepared and is able to teach the material very well. All of his lectures are uploaded online a couple hours after. The tests were pretty difficult.
This man is a god among mortals! If you watch his Boilercast lectures for Calculus 1-3, you'll be all set.
I watched all of Professor Chen's online lectures for Calc. 3. He explained everything very clearly and gave good examples. This man is the GOAT.
Professor Chen is such a clear and concise lecturer. Calculus is just personally a tough course for me, but he has made it as easy a possible for me to succeed. Do your work, pay attention, go to class, and you'll do great.
Prof. Chen is a Calc god. I am retaking MA16100 and he is my lecturer. My lectures are at 7:30am, and he is the reason I drag myself out of bed and walk the mile from my dorm to the lecture every day. He explains the material in ways that my last professor did not, making it so much easier to understand. Do yourself a favor and take his class.
Awesome lectures that have great examples and his note style is extremely easy to refer back to when working on homework/studying
Never actually had him as a professor unfortunately, but his online lecture uploads saved my grade in both MA261 and MA303. He really knows what hes teaching, and also is very good at explaining if you don't know what is going on. Would also recommend his office hours, he sees people that aren't even in his class!
One of the most respected professor at Purdue.
Had him for calc I, II, III and linear algebra. Technically he was my real professor only for calc I, but for the other ones, I watched his lectures online instead of going to class (like most people). An amazing professor that explains difficult concepts clearly.
Had him for Calc II and it was a very positive experience.
Finished all my required math classes, and still go to his lectures often, just to hear him talk. I think that says enough. If you have him, GO TO CLASS. If you don't have him, and your professor is terrible, skip class and watch his lecture. This man is a Legend.
Dr. Chen was a great professor! I had him in the spring of 2020 (Covid) and he was my only professor that still gave lectures. He was always open to questions and in person lectures were great while we had them! I had friends that would skip class and they didn't do very well so make sure you go to lectures and Si sessions for extra help!
This professor is absolutely amazing. He explains everything really well with organized and helpful notes! You can tell he really cares about his students and does everything he can to help them succeed.
Took MA 216 MultiV online and there was no partial credit. Quizzes were like 2 points each with only 2 questions so getting F's on quizzes wasn't uncommon. Tests were also extremely difficult with no partial credit, all multiple choice. I've never gotten below an A on a math exam before. Got C's on all his exams.
Not sure what the last review was complaining about. I am in the same class right now (summer 2020). And yes, the exams are challenging, but not outrageously hard or unreasonable (all the exams have averages in the high-70's), and all the problems are very similar to homework problems. Quizzes are written by TAs and can differ by a bit.
Professor Chen is amazing! I took MA261 online this summer. Although it was an online course, he still records new lectures every week, instead of using old recordings. He makes this class very well organized and well explained, and he always encourages us to ask questions.
Didn't technically have professor chen when I took the class, but basically stopped going to lectures in favor of watching his prerecorded past lectures. He is simply the best, the absolute gold standard in teaching. This guy understands what he's teaching and how to teach it.
explains sooo clearly
Amazing lectures. Purdue legend.
i want to have his kids
The online course was essentially watching Chen-flix and doing homework/tests on mylab. I rarely used the actual textbook, the lectures are cover the material. Chen is great at explaining concepts. This was one of the best handled asynchronous class I took; it was well organized and executed.
Professor Chen is a miracle to the Purdue Math department. Purdue Math is ruthless, but Professor Chen is a guardian angel. His lectures are simply beautiful and incredibly informational. The professor himself is very forgiving.
What else can I say? Chen is a Purdue legend. In the midst of COVID, his online lectures were exceedingly clear and well-done, and not a single mistake was ever left uncorrected. The grading isn't the best, as I had an A+ before the final alone sunk my grade to a B-, but otherwise I would def take this class again to watch some more Chen lectures.
Dr. Chen is one of the best math professors I've ever had. I took the class online and was able to understand everything from his videos. You definitely need to put in the time to understand the content but if you paid attention to his lectures and did the homework the exams were very fair. 11/10 professor in my book
Chen is a great professor who makes all of his lectures open to all students. He wasn't my original professor but I soon just started watching his videos. If you don't know ChenFlix, then you don't know Purdue.
I had a different professor but used Chenflix instead. His lectures are super helpful as he explains everything very clearly.
The best professor, just watch Chenflix. He is outstanding.
I used Chen's lectures to clear up some confusion after my first lecture with my assigned professor and since then I stuck to watching Chen. He creates great review problems and makes the homework manageable by covering lots of practice problems.
Had him freshman year for calc 2, havnt had him since but I have used his boiler cast videos since for 2 other math classes, he is very good at explaining things and the way he writes down notes is very clear and easy to follow.
The best professor I have encountered in all of my academic career. I used his lecture videos for all of the math courses I took at Purdue. I have not found any person or source on all of the internet that can teach better than this man. Even if you don't have him I recommend using his lectures for any Purdue math course.
Chen is literally the most genuine person ever. He understands what it is like to be a student and he really strives to work with you. You don't have to go to the 7:30am lecture. He posts all his videos to ChenFlix about an hour after the lecture. Wonderful experience. The class is hard, don't get me wrong, but Chen has got your back.
Dr. Chen explains the material really well. He gives you what you need to pass the class.
By and large one of the best professors I've ever encountered. Lectures are simple, concise, yet manage to convey complex material with relative ease. Rarely gets off-topic. Tests are weighted for a majority of your grade but are relatively simple (given you do homework, study, etc). Overall, I am extremely happy with Chen being my professor.
This class is exam heavy but Chen is a super nice guy. Definitely recommend to take his course.
Dr. Chen has hands down been my favorite professor I have had in my college career. I watched his videos to get me through all the math in my curricula and he has taught me from Calc 2 all the way up to differential equations. He is not only a great lecturer with neat notes, but he is very kind and cares about the well-being of his students.
Best ever
Great!
I love him. best professor ever
Chen is the best math professor I've ever had; his lectures are clear and easy to understand and all his notes & recordings are posted online which makes the information super accessible. I would definitely recommend watching his lectures for 261 even if you are scheduled for a different professor.
Chen teaches like you've never heard of Calculus before. It's really helpful and straightforward, and he makes class super accessible. Not to say it will make Calc 3 easier--it's notoriously hard--but Chen gives a really good base of understanding and is accessible outside of class. Overall, fantastic lecturer. Good pace and keeps class engaged.
Dr. Chen is a life saver. If you hate your math professor, you can always rely on chenflix.
JUST AMAZING YOU DON'T EVEN NEED HIM AS A DESIGNATED PROFESSOR. JUST WATCH CHENFLIX FOR CALC3
Textbook not required at all. You can get it if you want to do textbook practice problems, but I wouldn't advise this. You can find plenty online and on the course website. All you need to purchase is the Mylab and mastering, which is the platform that the homework is done on. This can be a resource for studying practice problems as well.
While I only watched his videos on Chenflix, Dr. Chen performs extremely well in terms of explaining concepts and making analogies. He understands that most students have trouble visualizing problems, so he goes through many practice problems thoroughly. Overall a pleasure to watch.
Chenflix. Just go watch Chenflix. For class, for fun, alone, with friends. It doesn't matter. Just watch it.
Chen is the best calc professor at Purdue.
The exams were very difficult, I literally studied for them for weeks and still did horribly bad. The professor classes were not that helpful. Simply overrated
Hearing a lot of good things about the professor before getting into the course were simply very wrong! He makes the hardest exams compared to past papers and his lectures doesn't help at all.
THE GOAT
Dr. Chen is a great lecturer. His notes are easy to read and he gives clear explanations of topics. Unlike many of the other math profs here, he has legible handwriting. However, his exams are extremely difficult and stressful. At least he lowered the final grade cutoffs by 15%, or I wouldn't have passed.
Dr Chen is a good lecturer, not as GOATed as some claim he is, but still very solid. However, I found myself struggling in the class due to hard tests that weren't as simple as the lectures made it seem. It also doesn't help when the tests are worth 72% of your grade. Overall, he is a good prof and I'm very thankful for the large curve.
Dr. Chen is awesome. Doesn't matter who your "professor" is, watch chenflix. Explains the material well, but just because he explains things well and is a good lecturer does NOT mean this is an easy class. Textbook is sorta required because you need to buy it to do the homework. Overall great professor, hard class.
Dr. Chen has a true gift and passion for mathematics as well as teaching. He makes a very difficult concept very easy to understand. He is a very kind and genuine person and if you have questions he will make sure you understand the concept you are stuck on. Amazing man and professor.
Prof. Chen is a fantastic lecturer. He explains complex calculus topics in an easy to understand way. He is far and away the best math lecturer at Purdue, so much so that most students in MA261 use his Chenflix even though he isn't their assigned professor. He writes tough exams, but assures students that they will be successful in the end.
I personally had Glubokov for MA 162 but stopped attending his lectures as I got confused. I then found Chen's 2019 MA 162 lectures and have since been watching those. Thanks to Chen, I have gotten a 100% on all three midterm exams as he does a fantastic job at explaining the content and providing relevant examples.
This man is the GOAT!! He will get you through any course you have him on. And that's a guarantee! Everyone watches his lectures instead of whoever's professor they're supposed to be assigned to. Every year he teaches a slightly different course in math, but whatever he chooses, he's instantly in high demand!
The notes Prof. Chen writes in lecture are very clean and easy to understand. He covers all topics clearly and thoroughly. He is patient and wants to ensure the students all understand his material.
Explained all calc clases better than any other teacher.
Chen is a very good lecturer, but he also writes some tough exams so pay attention to his lectures as he is often the course coordinator. Very good professor, I also watch his old 265 lectures for linear instead of going to my lecture.
Great teacher and makes the hard class easier to understand. Definitely take him for all your math classes if you can.
He is a good professor but not a good examiner. He explained the concepts pretty well and had his lectures and notes shared for everyone. Cares for our understanding and answers questions clearly. His exams though were on another level compared to what he gave in lecture. Thanks to the curve everyone passed. Very respected professor though.
Best mathematics professor I have had. I retook Calc 161 and had no trouble understanding since the first lecture I had with him. Also, Chenflix is excellent; use it to study, clarify, or do whatever you need. Even use it for other courses. HE is just a fantastic professor. He made me enjoy math again.
I LOVE THIS MAN! Chen is so amazing at what he does! His lectures are so straightforward, and he actually tests what he teaches. The man is a godsend and gave me back my confidence in my ability to do math (I've had several negative experiences with professors that made me question my abilities in the past). Easily the best teacher I've had so far!
I had hoped that he would be easy to work with, but always made me feel like I was wasting his time. Don't listen to the other reviews like I did, they aren't always true!
Dr. Chen met with me even though he wasn't teaching 261 at the time. Tremendously helpful and unselfish. I wouldn't have gotten my good grade without his help.
Loved Chen
this man got me through calc 2, lectures are very easy to follow and easily accessible
Professor Chen has amazing calc lectures that help you understand the material in detail. I would highly recommend him.
Professor Chen's lectures are very easy to follow and straight to the point. Everything covered in his lectures can be used to solve problems on the homework and on the exams. Definitely recommended to ATTEND his lectures but his recordings work well too.
MA 162 is likely one of the harder classes you will take at Purdue, but Chen has the best lectures available for the class. The course is super heavy on exams (3 midterms) and the final, around 2 homework assignments and quizzes per week. This course is a lot of work with HW, quizzes, exams, lectures. Exams are usually at 7pm.
Lectures were amazing - I found them very helpful and interesting! The course is very exam heavy though, and the exams are quite difficult sometimes, but his lectures really helped me pass the course.
If you take calc at Purdue just watch chenflix or go to his lecture
I love Chen. I did not do amazing in the class but that was more on the content then his teaching. Calc 2 is hard but he makes it understandable. After my semester with him I chose to take a 7:30 am calc 3 class just to have him as my lecturer. Hard tests but again that may be the content. Has great office hours and great lectures. Hard but amazing
Professor Chen is an amazing teacher. He presented ideas very clearly and even saved time for questions during lectures.
Dr. Chen is the best professor I have had the pleasure of taking class with. He communicates clearly and concisely in language easy to understand. All of his lectures are online through Chenflix and can be accessed through a simple Google search.
People overrate him a little bit but he is still one of the best calc professors at purdue. Really clear lectures but VERY tough exams. Grind boilerexams before each exam and you'll be ok though.
(MA 26100 DIST, Summer) I've been watching Dr. Chen's Calculus lectures through the entirety of calc 2 and 3, even when he technically was not my professor for calc 2 last spring. As a lecturer, he is very gifted at engaging students with relevant examples, and has a clear passion for seeing his students succeed.
Calc II itself can be challenging but Chen is a great lecturer who explains things well. He provides great examples in lecture and answers some questions. He has office hours which are helpful and cares a lot about his students even in a difficult course.
Dr. Chen is an amazing professor and he makes one of Purdue's hardest classes seem easy. I would gladly retake this class just to have Dr. Chen as a professor again.
I think that professor chen is an amazing teacher. His lectures are easy to follow in person and on the online Chenflix website. He makes taking Calculus 2, one of the hardest math courses at Purdue, a little easier. He's easy to follow and understand.
I had Glubekov (idk how to spell) and I only attended two of his lectures. The rest of 162 was from Chenflix and I got a 100 on the three midterms. Phenomenal.
Chen is the undisputed goat.
I used chenflix for this class(originally had professor Hood) and the lectures were extremely organized and helpful.
Chen usually has early lectures, however, if you can't make that just watch his recordings at chenflix. Go to his office hours as well, he is very patient and helpful with students
I started using ChenFlix after a few weeks of going to class in Fall 2023. Chen did a great job of explaining everything and making it clear, in addition to the homework help on MyLab. Amazing professor.
W Professor
The best of the best when it comes to math professors. Will do everything he can to simplify complex concepts so that anyone can understand. Is always very available for extra help and overall just a great dude.
Prof. Chen is the goat. Love that man.
Great professor.
Professor Chen's MA162 class is challenging but engaging. His lectures are incredibly helpful, and I found unstuck ai to be a useful supplement for study prep. Attend class, do the work, and you'll learn a lot.
lectures+boilerexams=wiin
I do not even go to my professors lectures. I use that free time to watch Chenflix since the way that he explains concepts is very clear. Also since this most math courses til differential equations are standardized if you watch chenflix most lectures are aligned with my professors. His lectures are amazing and I am glad I had him for CALC2.
Best purdue math professor. Chenflix is goated
I never went to an in person lecture of my actual professor. Chenflix is goated and he is pretty funny. He brought up a mushroom hat from Mario to describe a shape. I love him.
Best math Professor of all time.
This man got me through Calc 2 and is therefore the GOAT.
Chenflix is a great resource/crutch for almost every nightmare math course at Purdue. Professor Chen is a natural teacher, he cares about his students and their learning and works hard to make his lectures engaging and informative.
Through Chenflix, I was able to self-study the entire calculus two curriculum. His lectures were clear and easy to follow. His way of teaching the intricacies of calculus so simply made the nightmare class seem somewhat easy.
GREATEST OF ALL TIME
The goat. If you haven't heard of him, you been living under a rock. Chenflix for life.
unlike many Chenflix users here, I had the fortune of taking Dr. Chen's class in-person. he does explain and simplify complex concepts really really well, focusing only on the topics we would actually want to know for an exam. and although the exams were a bit harder than i expected, the grading was pretty lenient.
Professor Chen is a great lecturer, not only for his ability to explain mathematical concepts in a clear way, but also his commitment to making his lectures accessible to other students. He does a great job at giving his students a strong intuition about how we model/solve differential equations. This intuition is easily applied to other courses.
Since I had the ASYNC lecture format, I decided to just ChenFlix instead and it's been amazing. Lots of flexibility to watch the lectures whenever you want, and Chen's explanations are great at providing a conceptual understanding of Calc 3. Ended up acing both midterms and doing alright on the final.
