Good Prof. A little unclear and boring at times, but otherwise an alright class
Good professor, lots of work but easy grader and loves group prodjects
the class is boring most the time, but work is graded easily
Mediocre class but fits the bill for a core requirement.
He's alright...the class is sometimes interesting, loves debates and particip.
He may be a bit boring, but he is a fair grader and is willing to work w/ you
helps students, easy grader, uses various ways to teach instead of straight lect
Might seem easy but will stick with a grade lower then u deserve
Very interesting. Explains very well and the topics are great

Great professor, he will help you with anything. Loves participation.
Great professor! Always available to help! Very interesting class, unlike title.
He does give u a lower grade than deserved. I worked hard for nothing.
workload is decent/ easy exams/ lenient prof/ & interesting asian history topics
great prof. but a bit hard grader, very interesting
he's alright, kind of heavy work load, he finds it hard to give a's.
great professor. helpful and easy. class is fun

A very cool professor......Great class....
He is very good prof. easy work, easy final, a lot of extra credits..just gr8
TOUGH GRADER..If u think u are getting an A then think again... B+ (maybe)
Very patient, passionate, honest and clear. Grades on personal improvement.
hm....first time with him....saw sumthin about he give lower grade than deserved.....but.....overall..he's a nice guy.....for my clas....workload aint that bad.....only 4 books to read....and 3 outta 4 are quite interesting.....
Gives very little h.w. and only reading. Few tests, most take home essays. Very easy, very helpful, definatly tkae him.
Really interesting, great class dicussion, interesting text and variety. Highly reccomend this guy.
Very little work load, simple short readings. only one major paper (5-7 page for my class at least) and 2-3 short essays. Easy professor and a really nice guy.
Very understandable, interesting professor. I wasnt interested in Asian History, but he made it exciting. Two papers, essay question midterm, not too hard, but you should do readings for class. Take him.
Great class, he actually kept me awake despite the fact the he teaches the earliest classes ever!!9am, the latest?!ahhh!!(bring starbucks!!)hes straightforward, you learn a lot and it is so easy!!!-and many others i know agree
Good professor. Really interested in students and subject.
You will love Asian history after you have him. He's easy if you do your work and is extremely nice and intelligent. A midterm, final, response paper, and a research paper.
The Man Knows his stuff. Very clear lectures. You only have to a essay, midterm, research paper and final. Went on a temple tour-very informative. We need more of these field trips here. He shows us PHAT film clips in class. Definitely take this class.
i loved this man.class makes you want tot learn and discuss, even though it was at 7:20am.Cares about students and material.temple trip was awsome.Very intelligent, one of my fqavorite classes ever
He only favors asians and he def bases your grade on if he likes you or not becuase he defenitely doesn't grade you on your work.
One of the best teachers at Pace University!
Nice and brilliant
Really great teacher, actually has me thinking about majoring in history. Clear and precise, not a hard work load and is really interesting. Gets you involved and interested.
AHEM, I am not Asian, and I haven't felt discriminated against at all, so readers out there should disregaurd that bitter comment which was probably made by someone who simply never got up for class and is mad that his/her grade reflected that. Lee is a good teacher, you will really benefit from him
Another great professor. Just a bit on an accent, but defintely worth it. Interesting, fun and easy class. Extremely knowledgable and always willing to help. Great class, well worth it, DEFINTELY take his class.
There's nothing bad you can say about him. Great professor, really interesting, and not that hard.
His class is AMAZING!!! esp. the early bird...He's a wonderful professor! Take him!!!!
Great person, great professor. should def take his class or any class he's teaching! very knowledgeable. work load isn't hard, as long as you voice your opinions and be open-minded to others' perspectives, you'll get a good grade because the papers are based on your views and how you support it.
Dr.Lee is very engaging, encourages debates, shows films, and is well aware that just lecturing makes a 3hr class boring. He's not only knowledgeabe, but he understands that the workload for an introductery course shouldn't exceed 2 papers and 1 exam.Lots reading though, but books aren't expensive...
Professor Lee is a very nice person, he cares about hearing opinions of others and motivates all of his students to succeed. He gives you a lot of brakes and tries to not be too tough. The class itself is interesting and you learn a lot over a short period of time. Take him if you have the chance.
loved his class. very interesting. i actually wanted to go to class. i missed a few yet still got an A+. he brings up interesting topics and debates, and his films are even interesting. very knowledgeable and def. worth the time and the money. one of the best professors at pace! iw ould love to take him again if i ever get the chance.
He's in my top 3 list of the best and most intelligent professors at Pace. You will learn a lot and actually have fun while doing so. You have to show effort to get a good grade but he's a great professor.
Great professor and person. Interesting and engaging lectures. He doesn't write too much on the board, so take notes when he talks. Papers are not difficult, and neither is the final, for which he gives a study guide. Excellent, and easy prof.
One of the best profs at Pace.
One of the best professors. Makes it interesting, is extremely helpful and will give you time to finish writing if you tell him ahead of time. Very knowledgeable, highly recommended. Show interest and it will be a good class.
I took Prof. Lee's Non-Violence in Asia course. It's similar to Bill's HIS: American Legacy class. He made it very interesting. The essays for the class seem long, but they are easy and the prof. grades them fairly.
awesome prof, very interesting even though i had no interest for this subject before. easy and fair grader, just do your work.. he allows rewrites and he negotiates due dates. He understands that this is not your only class. great guy!
One of the best senses of humor at Pace. A great guy to even know, much less take an entire course with.
interesting class so i would recommend everyone to take.it's neither easy nor hard. as long as you're good with analytical skills you'll do pretty good. fair grading too!he teaches this class with dr. kolluri, who's also another awesome professor.
Dr. Lee is very interesting and knows a great deal about Asia Pacific History. He makes you think in a totally new way and will give you brillinat insight. But I think he is a bit of a **** and grades you down automatically if you're of color. Other then that he's nice.
I loved taking his class!! I took him for a film class and I learned A LOT in 4 weeks [summer class] and gained a whole new perspective on cinema and history. He's extremely intelligent and loves when you participate and share your opinions. Very VERY willing to help with papers and assignments. Exceptional professor at Pace. Great!!
I LOVE HIM!! He is amazing! The class was fun, interesting, and informative. We all loved the class, most of the books, and the films. He made me want to go to China. I learned so much!
don't remember the section number but i took him for Asian History and i'm going to keep this simple... He makes the class interesting, tries to help us as much as he can, easy grader and not picky on grammar for the essays... As long as he can understand your paper and it flows. your good to go! take him
Prof. Lee= THE BOMB. You won't regret taking any of his classes. He is interesting and fun. I learned so much from his class. I will try and take as many courses with him as possible.
He is an extremely knowledgeable teacher and it was a very informative class. there is a film every classes and in depth discussions about them. he also assigns film critiques and one research paper. over all a very good course and I highly recommend taking him!
2 short critiques (3 pages) on the books he assigns. 1 research paper(5 pages). Papers are easy he doesn't grade hard. Pretty straightforward class. Go in listen to him talk. No midterm or final. It was pretty damn easy class. Would definitely take him again even if its a 9AM class. It was damn worth it.
He is one of the best professors at Pace. He is very smart and passionate about the topic. He is very easy to reach. Take his class!
Take him!!! 2 written speeches and in-class debate. One research paper. Easy grader. Very friendly and helpful!!
He is the nicest professor I've ever had at Pace. We watched great movies every class day. There are 3 film critiques and one 5-6 page research paper. He is an easy grader if you put in effort to get the grade. This is my second time taking a class with him and I plan on taking more with him. He is a must take for anyone that needs a history class.
Wonderful teacher and incredibly intelligent. The films in class were very interesting and reinforced with reading short articles and books.
An entertaining and lively class! Dr. Lee is willing to offer term paper feedback if you turn it in early. He returns all work promptly and is polite, courteous and helpful. A very generous grader. Show interest in the subject matter and you will not walk away with less than a B+ or A-. In fact, I believe most people in our class got As.
Such a friendly, enthusiastic professor. Very passionate about what he is teaching and so the lectures / group work are actually very engaging. No textbook, just a few small books you can get online for less than $10-$15 each. The class is super easy, but it is not a blow off because you still learn a lot and it is very interesting! Great class.
He's a very nice teacher and is very energetic. The films he shows are very interesting and you will learn a lot. If you want to have a good time I recommend taking his class.
Great professor, knowledgeable and passionate about his field! Take him!
Awesome person and awesome professor. One of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Him and Mr. Kolluri are an awesome match to teach this class! Both different personalities from different cultures. Super interesting.
The greatest professor I have had for any subject. Very interested in students, especially if you show interest in the class. The easiness rating can be misleading--the work may seem easy because it is very enjoyable, but there is a decent amount of it. Gives a lot of freedom in writing--if you struggle creating arguments you may find it difficult.
Professor Lee is a great professor who is enthusiastic and well knowledgeable in the subject. He makes the class fun by showing interesting films and his expectations from critiques are clear on the syllabus. Highly recommended .
Professor Lee's Modern East Asia in Film Class was one of the best classes I have taken at Pace, by far. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject matter. The focus of the class was the use of film to critique the political landscape of East Asia during major wars and present day issues. Plus, he is not an incredibly difficult grader.
Professor Lee is passionate about history and has the knowledge to back it up. You will likely never leave his class without learning something new. Your grade will likely depend on a few papers, but so long as you have extensive sources and a clear argument, you can do well.
Dr. Lee is an incredible Professor. He will make you passionate about topics that you barely knew existed before being his student. If you have the chance to take any of his classes, do it! He'll make you a better student and human being.
He is a great teacher, and is able to combine jokes and great lectures.
I love Professor Lee. He's so helpful and his class was so interesting. he's also just a gem of a human being. My one complaint is that his lectures and powerpoints are slightly all over the place and I couldn't really follow enough to take thorough notes.
Professor Lee is a great history teacher. He is truly knowledgeable in Asian history and his lectures are very engaging. I would definitely take him again because he is accessible and aspires to help students succeed.
class was a 9am on Fridays and it was worth waking up for. discussions were engaging and the movies that he made us watch were very interesting. he gave a few papers and we had to read two books but it wasn't a crazy amount of work. just put some time into writing and you will get an A
Prof. Lee is the best professor Ive had he is fair and provides the class with very interesting lectures and materials. I actually found myself excited to come class.
Dr. Lee has the ability to make you interested in anything he says because of his infectious enthusiasm. He has a clear mastery in the topics he teaches.
Professor Lee is a truly nice person, and I like his lectures. There will be 3 film critiques essay and 1 optional research paper, and you should be ready to read some texts, but they are not that hard. Also, Professor Lee is not a tough grader. I will definitely take his class again!
I love this man with my whole heart. His class was my favorite I took this semester. His jokes combined with his passion and knowledge for the subject of the class made a three hour lecture feel like it was 30 minutes. The class itself was not hard and tbh you don't really need to read the materials to understand what is going on in class
Only took his class for a graduation requirement but I'm really glad I did. Lots of interesting in-class discussions and movies relevant to the course material. Definitely recommend!
Best class I had all semester. We came in, talked about the history revolving the movie we were going to watch for the class, watched the movie and then discussed the movie. As for assignments all we had to do was read a few books and do two essays. Professor Lee is very educated in Asian history and I would highly recommend him to everyone.
Professor Lee is easily one of the best history professors I've had!! He is so kind, passionate, and knowledgable. There's a good amount of reading at times, but it's manageable and the material is actually interesting. His lectures are engaging, and he gives great feedback on written assignments!
Super caring, understanding, approachable and simply a great professor overall. He is very knowledgeable in Asian history and his classes are interesting. If you need any help just simply ask him and he will make accommodations for you. If I could I would take all his classes.
I've taken 2 of his classes and he's great. Very understanding of student's lives outside of class and kind with grading and such. Even brought snacks multiple times for all of us, passionate about what he teaches and super nice!
Amazing prof. Lectures are easy and the film he shows is some of the best Ive ever seen.
Prof. Lee is amazing! Focuses on class participation and teaching rather than assigning homework. The debates are very engaging and we watched interesting documentaries. Couldn't be any simpler. Very caring about his students' mental health and starts every class by having a brief check about how the students are doing in general. Highly recommend!
