Very smart professor, very dry personality. Not a hard class but not simple. Dr Libby is fair but you must work to get a good grade.

Awesome lectures, he knows his stuff, tests aren't hard, just take your time.Do all lecture and text study questions, it's the only way to do well in the course.He won't grade on a curve so don't rely on it, attendance is taken, don't be late.If your lazy, there is no doubt that you'll fail this course.He is willing to help you with any questions.

Dr. Libby made me remembwer how much I enjoyed History Classes. I've been out of school for some time, and it was refreshing to get such a wonderfully gifted speaker as an instructor.

Great teacher. This man teaches you History the way it was supposed to be taught. He gives insights on our most historic of figures in true grittiness and never forgets to tell you his "foreshadowing" is a sign of good teaching.

This class is difficult because he teaches his own perspective and then you still have to learn the text book. So its like 2 classes in 1. Hes good at making boring stuff interesting, on a positive note.

If history is your thing, then you'll love it. But for many others, this was super boring. He teaches really well, but it was hard staying awake for some reason. The only thing I didn't like was the weekly online chp tests. Don't forget to take those! they add up quick! Grades really strict on the essay portion of exams. Very knowledgeable teacher!

I loved his class! He really makes the subject more interesting. Although I was only one point away from a B when I got my final grade, I wasnt mad about it. Don't take this class if you can't show up to class on time and dont want to study for his tests; They are hard, but you will remember what you learned in his class long after you finished.

very knowledgable and passionate teacher. it's mandatory to go to class since his tests are all from his notes and take the weekly online quizes. his class isn't hard, you just have to study and keep up with the quizes. if you don't like lecture though, you probably won't like him. again, good teacher though & i enjoyed his class

Really good teacher! He most definitely knows his material well, he is obviously very educated historically, but he is also on top politically... may seem biased at times but is very good generally at keeping his thoughts to himself.

He actually made history interesting. Good teacher, tests were a little difficult if you dont study. But if you study you will do fine. I got a C because I missed 12 of the 18 online weekly quizzes, if I would have remembered to take them I would have gotten an A

Libby is mean,and cold and has a "I have a PhD and teach at a community college" attitude, in my class we had 2 As and 3 Bs in a class of 120. BUT I have to say that I learned more in his class then any other History class I've taken in college, he really makes you think about events and how they relate. In the end I hated Libby and I loved him

THIS MAN IS AMAZING. He effortlessly exudes a professional energy during his lectures, which seem more like storytelling. Beyond knowledgeable, crystal clear, and very consistent. I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to lectures, which is a bonus considering you HAVE to attend lecture. I only read the book once or twice and aced his class.

LOVED Mr. Libby! Made history very interesting. You can tell he has a passion for history and a love of teaching it to others. Gives you the lecture notes so you can focus on listening and adding your own notes. Tests are hard, but he helps you as much as possible and wants you to do well. Highly recommend him!

I absolutely loved Mr.Libby! He's makes History very intresting and i learned alot from taking his class! He is willing to help during his office hours or after class so take advantage. This class does take work but if you print out all his lecture outlines and study questions you will do great.

Libby is really informative, really good at the way he lectures, but the tests are pretty hard i'd say half of it is actually from his lecture and half from the book and he doesn't cover everything from the book so if you dont read you'll see stuff you've never seen on the tests.

Wonderful teacher! I hated history until I stepped into his class. He makes history come alive in a way I've never seen before. His tests are difficult. Once I figured out his tests were the study guide questions (directly taken from the lecture) and I had to know each detail, I then got 100% on the following test. It's possible!

He is an extraordinary professor! He is extremely thorough with his lectures and explains everything with detail for the students to better understand his lectures! I agree with the previous students that have rated him, he is passionate about his job! I wish more professors could be like him! Be prepared to do 16 online quizzes, I highly recommend

I got an F on every test, but did all the quizzes and homework and ended the class with a C. He is a nice teacher, but the lectures are kind of boring.

I had Libby for Hist 11 and I had to come back for 12. He has been my favorite prof so far. He lectures like he's storytelling, making the facts come alive and engaging. I would take a class from him every semester just for story time!! Tests are based exactly on lectures, a few from the book, which i never read and managed A's. LOVE HIM, TAKE HIM.

Libby's lectures were easy to understand and interesting. Not a hard class if you are willing to do the work--he offers you a study guide to each exam and will always hint at the essay questions so you are prepared. My only complaint is the map assignments, a couple of them were a little confusing.

I was SOOO lucky to have Mr. Libby for my History 12 teacher! His take home Chapter Exams are horrible and time-consuming, but his in-class tests are only on his lectures. His is an amazing storyteller, so his lectures are enjoyable and easily remembered for his tests. Switch teachers if you didn't get him!!

I don't know how anyone could say this teacher is boring. I had always thought history was boring, but now that I've taken him I want to learn more! He makes the stories come alive and I learned so much from this class. He is very straight-forward, and if you put in the effort, you are sure to pass this class.

Made lectures very easy to follow, printed out what you needed to know for the tests. If you went over notes a few times, piece of cake.

Mr. Libby is a really great teacher. He gets you interested in history and will tell stories to keep you interested. He stays unbiased which is a plus. The only negative is you really need to study for his tests. Other than that, good luck! Love this class!

Very straightforward teacher who knows his stuff. Has quite a good sense of dry humor and enjoys doing what he does. Again, he knows his stuff and conveys the information you need to know quickly and clearly.

I passed his class with an A without ever taking history in high school. Textbook is basically only used for the weekly online quizzes and exams are based off his lectures. Download his notes and lecture questions!! So helpful! I would take his class again.

Makes history really interesting. Tests are VERY hard.. there are only 3, so theres a LOT of material in each test. No one I talked to got an A on any of the tests. I ended up with a B in the class but it was difficult!

This professory is awesome! He is very interested in the subject and has a lot of stories and anecdotes in his lectures which make it interesting. I took both of his class back to back. Great teacher overall!

He is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Libby keeps you VERY well informed on the class structure and is very active on updating Blackboard and sending you emails if anything in your grade has changed. He has a fair amount of work, but it doesn't overload you. If you can take him, I HIGHLY recommend it. You will learn a lot.

Great teacher! Explains historical events like he was there! Has great stories and makes the subject really interesting. The textbook is mainly used only for weekly quizzes. Not hard to get an A as long as you do the work. He gives you study questions that give you EXACTLY what's on the test. It's your own fault if you don't pass.

I HATE history seriously and I would HIGHLY recommend taking Dr. Libby's class!! He lectures in story format and I actually feel like I have learned something! I never once used the book just make sure you do all assignments online and bring your clicker to class everyday, the 5 ?s on each are all e.c and each ? is on his 2 multiple choice tests!

Incredible teacher. He is not EASY, but if you're willing to do the work you will end the course satisfied. He is undoubtedly one of the best instructors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He should write his own textbook because his communication is clear and engaging. Use the study guides!

He is a great professor. Absolutely awesome at lecturing, but you MUST show up, do your online homework and bring your iClicker everyday to do his lecture quizzes! Lecture quizzes give extra credit points if you get 4 out of 5 right and they are directly your exam questions!

This professor is awesome. Best history teacher I have taken. Makes lectures easy to understand. His class has a lot of work, but doable. You take a quiz almost everyday, so you should go to class everyday because those questions will be on your midterm and final. Highly recommend taking history with this professor.

This class is pretty easy and shouldn't be hard to get an A in. He gives you the exact questions that will be on the test ahead of time and he goes over them a day before. Make sure you do all of the assignments and you shouldn't have a problem.

Amazing class!! Take this class

This is a very great class. The lectures are interesting. He gives points for attendance so make sure you show up. The midterm and final are easy because he gives you the questions beforehand. If you are willing to go to the class on time, then you should get an A in the class.

Dr. Libby is phenomenal. I don't think he knows the impact he has on his students. One of the things I truly enjoy about him is that he absolutely LOVES what he does. In the past I've had terrible professors who have made me hate the education system, professor Libby proves my thoughts wrong. Thank you, Mr. Libby!

Mr. Libby is hands down the greatest history instructor I've had so far. He makes history so much more entertaining than past instructors. His lectures are interesting and he makes it easy for the student to retain the information with stories and jokes that he makes. If you ace the quizzes then you'll ace the exams. Can't wait to take History 12

Dr. Libby is a phenomenal instructor. He is engaging and makes the subject much more interesting. Clearly he loves what he does and that shows through his great lectures. The class should be pretty easy to pass if you show up.

Mr. Libby is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very engaging and knowledgeable man. There are weekly quizzes based on the lecture. Those same quiz questions are the exact questions on the midterm and final. He gives you the exact questions and answers to study. I clicker and the learn smart online textbook are needed. Easy A overall.

I had taken Mr. Libby for history 11 and I really liked his teaching style, so I decided to take him again for history 12. He is just an awesome guy that really cares about history and teaching his students. DO THE TEXTBOOK READINGS AND THE DOCUMENTS, if you do not do them, you most likely will not pass.

In my opinion, Dr. Libby should be nominated for teacher of the year. His lectures set you up for success all you have to do is show up an be willing to learn. You need an iclicker and E-text for this class you have two document assignments, read and interpret. you have quizzes at the end of each lecture The midterm and final are the quizzes

Easy A but a very boring class if you're not interested in history whatsoever.

I took Dr. Libby's class for history 11 and 12 and it is the easiest class I have ever taken. He gives quizzes after every lecture and those same exact questions and answers will be on the midterm and final. Missing classes could hurt your grade but overall is fairly easy. I'd recommend him to everyone!

Mr Libby is a great teacher his lectures are amazing with the way he explains what is going on in the time period that he is talking about the only down side i see with the class is the document assignments they are generic with the questions and if you do not complete them good luck passing the class there are 4 and they are in 140 points total

He gives you everything you need to pass him class, its just your choice on what you do with it. He's a good teacher I would take him again!

Joseph Libby has been my best teacher thus far. Fantastic Lessons. He issues a quiz after every lecture (5 Questions), and all of those quizzes are on both the mid-term and the final! Very straight forward, doesn't ask for much. If you show up, participate, and do your work on time, you'll be fine. Grades work quickly. Doesn't mess around.

Great teacher! Gives very interesting lectures and you an tell that he is passionate and really enjoys what does. Very funny. Basically only gives two tests, Midterm and Final, and nearly all of the questions are based on "lecture quizzes" that he gives after every chapter. Study those and you'll probably get an a good grade.

There is good and bad. He will be helpful, crack you up with his lectures, and be clear about what to expect in the class. The problem is, you could know the material and still not pass the class. Good test scores and bad participation and you will fail. You have to be in class because there is quiz every class period.

Libby is hands down one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are interesting, you get a lot out of them, and he explains things very well. He is truly an amazing teacher, if I could take more of his classes I defiantly would. You have small lecture quizzes after each lecture has been completed, those questions will be on your midterm and final. You do not need to read the book.

Libby is a great teacher with well planned lessons and extra credit opportunities. He is very in-depth with lectures and helps everyone understand all the concepts. I definitely recommend attending all lectures as the tests are based off the lectures only. Great teacher!

Definitely recommend libby. he is very interesting and he makes the information very clear. however it hurts your grade when you miss class because he docs points and their is usually a short lecture quiz that you will miss.

Joseph Libby has by far been my favorite professor. His course is very organized, expect quizzes after each lecture. He assigns a free online textbook which is really convenient and thoughtful. Lecture notes are online so I'd bring them to class and just add on. If you show up most of the time and pay attention you'll definitely pass.

He is an amazing Professor, his lectures are planned and very well organized. I took two of his classes and passed one with an A, and one with a B (I started to slack off). His textbook is online and free, and his way of teaching is very entertaining. I highly recommend him.

Super sweet and laid back teacher. You dont have to take any tests except for the final which is awesome. He also gives you the exact questions and answers that will be on the final so you know exactly what to study. There isnt too much homework and the homework is also easy. Overall an easy A as long as you do the work.

Honestly this guy should have a five. Just do the work. Pay attention in class (which is not difficult, the guy's a crackup), and do the one homework assignment a week. He's super cool and understanding. Its interesting and he's a gem. What a guy.

Great class and great lectures. His lectures are narrative, it's almost like you're following along to a story. This makes the course material very digestible. To do well in this class all you have to do is show up, take the notes, and take an online quiz and a document analysis once a week. The textbook is free and online. Loved this class.

I loved having Dr. Libby as a professor. He makes history fun and interesting! His lectures are very thorough which makes the quizzes easier. ATTENDANCE MATTERS!! He also provides a free electronic history book that is used for homework. Makes sure not to skip any homework or quizzes! It will hurt your grade.

Doctor Libby doesn't lecture just off his slides. First, he gives you the slides at the beginning of the year and your notes are 90% complete "his words" so you can listen and be engaged. Quizzes are easy and text book is free online. I took 9 week class and it was easy so 18 would be that much easier. Extra credit available a B or better given

Dr. Libby is amazing. He was my first college professor and spoiled me into thinking they would all be as great as he is.

Libby is a passionate teacher. He really cares about what he is teaching and makes it interesting for the students. Two homework assignments per week but they are super easy. Lots of quizzes but they are easy and all from the lectures.

I took LIbby for History 11 and 12, and I love his lectures. He makes it fun to learn about history, and he is always willing to take questions. He has a pretty clear grading policy, and he is very knowledgeable. 10/10 would reccomend. Gives extra credit opportunities.

He's a caring teacher who's good at not making class boring. The homework can be tedious, but it's not hard and doesn't take too long.

Doctor Libby is extremely educated on the subject! He obviously loves his profession and takes it seriously. Not many assignments, mainly notes and lectures. The only con is that hes extremely monotone and its easy to daze off.

Libby is an awesome teacher. Homework is easy and straight forward and the same thing every week. Highly recommend him I barely have to study for the lecture quizzes and the book quizzes are open book. Over all 10/10!

Professor Libby is a great teacher. He gives great lectures that are interesting and funny. There's a lot homework, 30 assignments from quizzes to documents, but they're relatively easy if you read the text. He also has a lot of quizzes, usually based on lectures, so listen in class. Overall, a great professor and I highly recommend him.

I was never into HISTORY! He made it so interesting. If you want an A don't miss class and ready to do homework which is on weekly bases and pop up quiz..

At first I thought he was going to be a bad teacher. A couple of weeks went by and I actually loved this teacher. He will be caring if you give it back to him.

Prof. Libby is a great teacher and this was a great class. The weekly assignments are not difficult and the tests are pretty easy. This class is an easy A if you show up and do the work.

Great professor. makes history easy to learn. the class is made up of an online 7 short-answer questions paper and an online multiple-choice quiz due every Sunday. those are done with the online FREE BOOK. Also, there is a weekly 6 question lecture quiz on IClicker. no midterm/tests. only 1 final. The finals' questions are from the lecture quizzes.

Took this online class because of COVID. He seems super nice and is very understanding. He is super helpful when you are struggling and need help and he gives good advice on how to improve your grade. There are weekly lecture quizzes but they are fairly easy. Overall 10/10 I would recommend and take him again.

I've always HATED history, but Professor Libby's lectures made it easy to understand and enjoyable. The only reason I got a B was because we switched to online halfway through due to COVID and I had a hard time transitioning. I would definitely take him again!

Easy work if you read the text.

Easy online class format. Didn't have any recorded lectures, but used a free online textbook and weekly document lectures. What I liked most was the consistency of the assignments/quizzes that are laid out from day one. Be sure to follow directions clearly. Quizzes were short and easy, just read the material, don't procrastinate, and you'll pass.

Great Professor and easy class. Quizzes/Tests are 5-6 questions each and are open book. Free online text and straight forward class format. All answers are given to the class final and he is accessible should you have questions.

Took him in person for His11 and online for His12 and preferred online way more. He gives clear instructions of what he expects each week 1 textbook quiz, 1 Lecture quiz, & 1 doc assignment. Little points each week but they add up for your final grade. FREE TEXTBOOK. In person lectures were boring but take his online class! Easy & straight forward

I took both of his American history classes, hist 11 completely in person & hist 12 half in person half online. He is an amazing history professor. His lectures are interesting and he clearly really likes teaching the material. I would absolutely take one of his classes again. The textbook is free and his assignments are consistent and manageable.
