Manganello is an awesome guy. He is an extremely helpful teacher. All you have to do is ask for help. If some people learned to read the book there would be less complaining about the difficulty of his tests. I would take him over any other teacher I had at GCC. Definitely prepared me for next level

He is the best teacher I have ever had, and I have had quite a few. Definately keeps your interest during his lectures, by using humor and class participation techniques that also help you grasp the concept he is trying to convey.

He was the best teacher I've had. He single handidly convinced me to change my major just from the way he made me look at Psych. His tests are hard, but he gives a good amount of bonus points to make it easier. He's definately worth taking despite having to work a little bit. The horror of that.

He is an excellent teacher. I recommend to anyone who is interested in psych. If you are just taking the course as a pre req, he is pretty difficult and you probably wouldn't enjoy it. But, if you are interested he is the professor to take! Really loves to teach and it shows!

Manganello expects college level thinkers. I recommend taking his advise by reading as much as possible. Use the study guide and take the practice tests. He is challenging - something I enjoyed about him. Great Class.

Took his class in 1992 and got a c- because i didn't study. Took it again in 2004 and got a B. Both times I took him because I think he is an excellent instructor and very enthusiastic.

He is an excellent teacher. I took a 3 week summer class, 3 hrs a day, and it was a pleasure to be in his class. He provides numerous examples along with his teaching and loves to involve the class as well.

He will keep you interested but your going to work for that A. A lot of quizzes and a big end of the semester project but overall worth the torture because you won't find yourself falling asleep.

Overall an interesting class, obviously much easier if you keep up with the work. He required a lot of reading and expected you to know everything in the book. Generally a nice guy and a good class.

You wont find a better professor. He doesnt just give you advice on how to pass his class but he helps you with other classes and work and anything you could possibly think of. Manganello was the one who made me want to go into psychology as a profession. until i had taken his psychology class i was a law major, and now i try to get every psychology class that he has to offter. Right now im in child psych but i already took his general psych and abnormal psychology over the summer.

By far the best pysc teacher that GCC has and will ever have....i reccomend him to all my friends....he loves what he does and u can tell ....i dreaded taking Pysc...until i had him for a teacher ...so so good!

He is such an awesome guy!! I had his class at 8:00 AM and loved it. He is such a funny and nice guy. He really cares about his students and gives alot of bonus quizzes that really help out. Challenging, but fair. You will learn from his classes

I really liked him! The notes he gives covers most of the material on his test, but you have to study all the vocab in the chapter, because he tends to put some extra vocab on the tests. His tests are the "blue book" kind, which means you do all the writing so be prepared! But he's a really nice teacher who made me really enjoy the class!

Professor Manganello is an excellent teacher. He truly cares about what he is teaching and his students. He will take time to meet with you or explain things and is very nice. Be prepared to study though, he is not easy, but is very fair. Take him -- you won't be sorry!

Great teacher and great class... He truly cares about his students and is willing to do anything to help them out. The test were all open book and open notes.. I've learned so much from this class thoughout the semester!

GREAT GUY! He tells funny stories and really cares about all his students. He gives writing exams but if you pay attention, you will do fine. I'm taking him a second time! His class takes a little bit of time and effort but it is well worth it.

Joseph is truly an amazing prof. You're lucky if you get to be under his instruction. He was my mother's prof. as well and she adored him. You MUST use your book in this class and you MUST take notes. You also need to come every day or at least have a decent explanation as to why you cannot attend. All in all he is worth the effort. :-)

If you really want to learn psychology and have fun doing it, then take this course! You won't regret it... (Note that you MUST attend class and show up on time. You will be kept until the last minute of class)

As long as you know the general idea of what was in the chapters, you'll do fine. He's not looking for you to memorize definitions from the book, but rather the concept of psychology as a whole. The only complaint people can have about this class is that it is challenging. He makes you work, but also makes the class interesting and fun. He seems to really care about his students and to love his class. I would be interested in taking more of his classes, he is that good.

Mr. Manganello's classes are fairly easy and an A is within reach if you crack open your notes and read them before a test. Abnormal Psych. was more difficult with more papers and writing involved. He easily kept my attention, is passionate about teaching and psychology, and genuinely cares -- you won't find better anywhere.

He is an awesome teacher, he is so nice to his students and really cares that you get your money from the class. YOU HAVE TO READ in this class, if you don't you won't do well on the tests. His notes guide you but you have to read. After taking this class, I really knew so much about psychology.

He has great knowledge in the field. MUST READ TEXT TO PASS!!! If you don't, you will fail miserably. This is, by no means, an easy A. I didn't like the High School controlling element to his style (asking to go potty) but I understand his methodology. Tests are essay, which leaves a lot of subjectivity.

Mr Mangenello is really great. You can tell he actually cares and tries to make class interesting. If you are looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for you. If you are looking to earn an A and feel good about it then this class is for you.

I loved hearing Mr. Manganello lecture...must study and read the book cover to cover. An A is posible, but nowhere near easy to get if you dont take the time. Can't wait to take him again!

This was by far the best teacher/professor I have ever had in my entire school career. He teaches in a way to keep you enthused and interested in the subject, he answers any and all questions, he truly cares about each and every one of his students and is more than willing to help those struggling.

I think this class is highly beneficial if you can sustain a little attitude and don't get embarrassed easily. He's honest, doesn't have tolerance for much, and is a little overrated. Reading isn't enough...you must comprehend and be able to interpret. Challenging, but possible.

He's really funny he knows when to have fun and when to get things done. You learn a lot from his class you have to study you but off though if you wanna do good. He gives more quizzes than tests but overall he's an awesome guy!

he's a good teacher but i didn't like the fact that he would talk about how our parents and teachers haven't taught us well. the class is tough, the test is mostly on the book so i suggest if your going to take him, read the book. take a few notes but there most likely not going to help you.

I still remember him and his classes well from 20 years ago. Class was interesting and worth attending. The exams were hard, but it forced me to learn the material so that I still remember some of it today!

Professor Manganello is a great professor who wants his students to understand the material. However, his class is extremely hard and you have to read the book many times before a quiz or exam. Don't bother taking this class if you're not willing to read. Also ask him for one on one meetings, you will feel more comfortable with the course.

I took Manganello for Child Psych back in the Fall of 2009. He is an excellent teacher but he encourages you to learn on your own. For some this teaching style isn't beneficial, but he greatly prepared me for my 4 year college. If you want to learn, take him.

I had him for a 3 week class for general psych & he was an amazing teacher!I never learned so much in such a short time!I have him now again for child psych &all he talks about is politics & its really annoying. He was so much better the first time. He's really a good person & helpful. If you ever need anything he's always there to help and listen.

This professor was by far the best professor on campus. He makes sure you learn the material and he is always there to help. He is a great professor and also is great for advice. You can tell him anything and he keeps it confidential and is always willing to help. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes.

BEST TEACHER i have ever had in my life. He makes class fun and he is so passionate about his subject area, it makes it even better. There is no homework, unless its the paper and you have a month to do it. Mr. M is a great teacher! He really cares about each person doing well in his class! This class definitely requires studying and reading for his tests and quizzes. If your interested in Psychology, and want a fun, knowledgable teacher, he is the way to go!

Engaging and funny. Must READ text. Expects all foundation from Gen PSY ingrained. Tests were all short answer/essay. I felt he was a great teacher, but I wasn't prepared from Gen PSY.

Very Very hard teacher but you learn SO much! I worked really really hard and got a B, really close to getting an A. There is a difference between a bad teacher and a hard teacher. he is hard! MUST understand the material. Making practice tests help sooo much! all tests are Blue Book open answers, no multiple choice.BEST teacher EVER!

Mr. Manganello is an awesome teacher, and an even more awesome human being. Be prepared to do the work he assigns -- the projects as well as the textbook readings. He is, above all else, the epitome of fairness. If you don't know what "epitome" means, and you don't care to research the meaning, consider finding an "easier" teacher.

Mr. Manganello is one the greatest teachers I've ever had. His class is tough ONLY if you plan on not attending and doing his assignments. His class lectures are hysterical and keep you entertained. Great decision if you take him as your professor

He is awesome! He is a great teacher and overall person. He knows his stuff and you learn a lot! I also find him hilarious! The class wasn't easy but this is college. He grades fair, point blank. If you're in college to actual learn and do work take this class! I will be taking him again next spring. Sad next year is his last year here though :(

HANDS DOWN BEST PSYCHOLOGY PROFESSOR! Yes you HAVE to read your text book because your tests are based not only on minor discussion in class but the material in the book. He is willing to help you & work with you. If you want to learn psychology MANGANELLO is you man. He retires at the end of spring semester tho! Will be greatly missed!
