Great Guy...lectures might be boring sometimes, but he is very intelligant. Do his study guides, and ask as many questions you can think of. You will always get back a detailed answer. wish I could take more classes with him.

Has good stories.Kinda boring videos on random people running through the forest. Goodtimes though. Test are kinda hard, but the curve is usually pretty low. Final project is lengthy, put time and effort Easy A on that will bring your grade up for sure.

He is a great professor. Spends time explaining things more than once if necessary. Ant. 102 is very interesting. He has good sense of humot too. I would take another class with him.

He was a nice teacher, but for some reason he put me to sleep. There was'nt much work, in fact none at all except for a presentation and the ocasional pop-quiz and the 2 test and the final. I guess it could have been the early hours or the monotone voice!

His class was very interesting, loved all his unique stories about his life. He was a great teacher. Showed very interesting movies and his lectures weren't that boring. Do the presentation and keep up with the readings. Grading system was kinda based on a curve, 2 exams and a final.

This guy has really done it-lots of study and fieldwork, he has enthusiasm for the subject and will be helpful if you ask. Wish there were more anthro classes @Pierce to take...I've done them all now.

He's such a great teacher, I don't know why some say he isn't. Very helpful, talks about parts of his life that relate to subject and is funny. People should take his class, he gives 3 pop quiz but you'll do fine if you go to class everyday. His tests are challenging, but you'll do fine if you read.

This class was awesome and the teacher was very helpful and interesting. I don't know why people say the fallen asleep before because we never once talked about anything boring. His lectures can be lively, funny and you'll learn something new. The tests are not that hard if you read the text and take notes, plus he grades on a curve.

Coming into the class, I just thought the tone of his voice was so boring. I'm glad I took the class, though. I do feel more compassionate towards other cultures. Anyway, the class is an easy A if u do 2 things: (1) go thru his study guide and (2) go to the book's website and take the practice tests (A LOT of the test questions are identical).

Dr. E. is an awesome teacher. The class is really interesting. He knows everything about the subject, it is ridiculous. Ask him about the owl in Mexico and the peruvian alcohol.

He's a good teacher. He loves what he does. There's no way you could fail his class. His tests are predominantly from the book so you do have to do the reading but he grades at a curve based on how the class did on the test. There is one research paper that must be done.

You can tell he enjoys the subject, he is all from the book,so you have to read. His questions are theory based questions, so you better be able to apply the application. Anthro is a hard subject, it's not black or white. The book is confusing when it makes a statement and then totally questions the statement in the next paragraph leaving doubt!

He can be boring if you're not interested in what he's saying, but his little "filler stories" make his lectures fun. He doesn't grade hard, but if you only read don't show up for a lecture, you might miss a lot of questions on the exam.

Book is very hard to understand; chock full of quoted studies, experts, tribes. Teacher hardly narrows the focus, so you have to be your own teacher. An A is do able, but you'll be reading 100s of hours (the book & a dictionary). Not great for the self-esteem, but other than that, he's a nice man.

Not the easiest class but I managed to get an A by studying very hard for the final. You also get to have a 8 by 11 sheet of paper to write notes on.

Really nice guy. Offers extra credit to those with d's and f's to bring them up to C's. Class was really interesting (especially if your into archaeology or monkeys). Would take him again! Only thing is you have to show up to most of his classes so as not to get lost on his tests.

Hes a really nice teacher and a fair grader, however It's not that easy. His exams are somewhat hard and tricky. Even though he does grade on a class curve, I took him summer session and he based the grades only on 3 exams that it. No extra credit, No classwork, nothing so that made it hard to get an "A" in the classand to some pple a "B".

Nice guy. He grades on a curve so as long as you study enough to be in the top 30% you'll do fine. It's really easy to pass and only a little more effort to get an A. He tries really hard to make the class interesting and has a kind of wry quiet wit if you pay attention. Will definitely take another class iwth him.

Lied about test content, shifted test dates around constantly, has mood-swings and promotes absurd theories (and got irritated when I debated his claims, since I actually know what I am talking about). I don't hate the guy, but he is simply not a good professor. At all. I know it's typical of Archaeologists, especially, but still. Not good.

Great prof! Very passionate about subject. I never bought the book, just photocopied the articles and got an A. Take notes, ask questions, do the xtra credit if he offers. Tests based on info from articles and notes. Very detail oriented, so PAY ATTN! Strict grader, but pretty fair. Nice guy, helps u if u ask. Very interesting class, learned a lot!

He is a really interesting teacher. He has actually done work in the field, so he relates the subject matter to personal experiences. He is a hard grader, but not if you read the articles in the book. Tests are hard, again, if you don't read! He is funny and entertaining...I would recommend him, but get ready to read!

Awesome teacher. But if you are not a deciplined student who doesnt mind reading or staying for the entire class after breaks, you will do fine. Take extremely detailed notes and PAY ATTENTION!. overall if you consider yourself a good student, not one that wants an easy teacher, dont take him. Overall, great guy and awesome class. His Anthro 101 class was fun, but not easy. Take notes. Read the book. Make flash cards if you do that sort of thing. Tests are long multiple choice. Quizzes can get you extra credit, but if you get all Q's wrong, you lose total points. Just pay attention and study. He's a decent guy who makes it interesting if you care. Coolest GE I took.

Very good teacher. You need to read the book, and show up for class to get a good grade. He has a pretty lenient scale; however, the test are very difficult and one needs to really study. Anthropology can be boring, but he makes it interesting. He inspired me to take other anthropology classes.

Nice man that knows what he is talking about. First part of class is basically biology so it didn't interest me very much. But the rest of the class was fun. 3 multiple choice exams, including final. Lets you use an 8 1/2" x 11" paper with WHATEVER you want on it (I mean whatever) for final.

There is a fair amount of reading, but it's not hard. There are only 3 tests, 3 quizzes and 1 oral presentation. The tests are basically from the readings and lecture, so although attendance is not mandatory I recommend you go. Very sweet man and interesting class :)

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! If you have to wait a semester to take this class w/another prof, do it! Tests are extremely hard! Study guide doesnt help. He spends most of the class going over things that seem important, but then the test is about LITTLE details from the book. Read and study everyday(=A/B)Don't take if you are not english fluent.

Professor Eisenlauer is one of my favorite teachers, if not my favorite teacher, at Pierce. He is so kind and passionate, and his stories are a great addition to his lectures. The tests are semi-difficult, but if you keep up with the readings, you'll do well. He's amazing, amazing, amazing. Take his classes.

Funniest man alive. His classes are so intriguing and full of debates. He's extremely relaxed and loves telling wild stories about his days in college. You will WANT to attend his class every week! Lectures kind of boring. Great Prof! Knows his stuff. Takes attendance until after 2nd mid term. Shows films in place of lectures. 2 mid terms, one term paper (counts as 2 mid terms) and a final. Pop quizzes before mid terms.

The sweetest teacher on Earth. He is helpful, funny, and has great experience in the field. This class made me an Anthro major. SO interesting and the lectures made me want to learn more. The book is a great read and teaches you about amazing folklore and cultures. The tests are hard, but if you study and try, you'll get an A like me. :) Take it!

I thought the class was interesting. He's a nice guy, its just that he is kind of monotone. Aside from that, the class is pretty interesting, I feel that I learned a lot and that if you work hard you can pass. You must read the book because about half the test is on it. If you're into that kind of stuff, you will like the class.

Boring class. 60% of the class withdrew. Tests based mostly on book material and grew increasingly easier as the semester went on. Easy material to understand. Prof is helpful in answering questions, but I needed coffee to stay away during his lectures because they were so dull.

he's an amazing teacher and very passionate about what he does. Professor Eisenlauer is dedicated to his students. if you want to pass his classes you HAVE to show up for both lectures and labs and due the book work. all his tests are a mixture of both lectures, labs, and films.

He is nice, amusing older professor, and he has silly anecdotes that don't relate to anything. He is clearly knowledgeable in his field, but will admit when he can't answer a question. The tests are so hard it's insane, but he grades on a fair curve--so unless you've had the misfortune of being thrust into a class of geniuses, you'll be fine.

Not the most exciting teacher but he does tell interesting stories once in a while. The class is actually pretty easy. Read the textbook and use the study guides before tests and youll do good. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, its just an easy research paper and it really can help your grade. I DO NOT LIKE SCIENCE CLASSES AT ALL...yet I got an A in this class.

I really liked his lectures. But.... the book is too hard to read and comprehend. The book is filled with tons of different articles by anthropologists. Go take the class if you have an easy time reading crazy written studies.

He is nice and tells funny stories. The text book is quite though to read. Test are hard would be good if you easily remember names w/ facts. I enjoyed the class though it pulled down my gpa a bit.

He's an amazing teacher! He is very passionate about the subject. He is slightly monotone but if you listen to what he is saying the subject matter is interesting. He has tons of exciting stories about all the places he has traveled and excavated. He is great at explaining things and very pacient. Lab is required and you must come to the labs.

Eisenlauer is interesting! Loves the subject and always integrates his experiences with anthropology into his lecture. Slightly monotone, but if you make the effort to listen, you'll find that what he talks about is extremely interesting. IF you work for that A in his class, you'll earn it

Made me want to be an anthropology major! He's a complete asset to Pierce. He's very clear and fair and offers extra credit and grades on a curve. Overall a really nice guy and a fantastic teacher. Take him!

I took this class my first semester at Pierce. The man is fantastic! He's got some of the craziest most wonderful stories that he tells to help break up the density of the lectures. I liked his class so much that I am taking another one of his anthropology classes this term. Dont cheat yourself out of a potentially great educational experience.

I disliked this class. Exam is mostly textbook and film based (not much on lecture, even though lecture is the best part). Tests on random details as opposed to useful concepts. Do the extra credit.

This is the instructor you want to take if you want to get involved in Archaeology. Perhaps the only science-based specialisation left worth pursuing in Anthropology. Post Modernism has decimated everything else. Don't major in Cultural Anthropology. Ever! Do meet with him after class. Do put yourselves out there for this man. Volunteer. Ask. Work

It was an interesting class. Don't come in with high expectations, and don't come in thinking it'll be like Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, etc. You'll learn a bunch of facts and analytical techniques. Two things: READ. THE. BOOK. and do the online quizzes. Those definitely helped alot.He's an adorable man, but kindof an okay teacher. Boring for most.

took this class in Fall 2011, failed every test, did extra credit for first test, got a "C" for it! barely passed the final and got a C in the class...very lucky! he is a nice guy and funny stories but goes all over the place, but would recommend him :)

He's a good teacher. His tests are very hard though. Includes details that you might not think of. He does grade on a curve though and I think that's the only reason I got an A. I would miss alot on the tests, but squeaked by with an A. His lectures are interesting. Subject is interesting. I was sad when it ended, cuz I wanted to learn more.

He works with students one one one if they need help and he will explain anything you dony understand IF YOU JUST ASK HIM. The textbook is a must...once again this is a college class...overall it's an interesting class if you just listen to what he's saying

Good class, might be a little hard to stay awake so pack an energy drink. He grades on a curve, which is why I barely squeaked with an A. If he writes something on the board, pay attention to it! Extra credit includes one essay / showing up to class. This class is easy to pass, he does not expect much, but to get an A, you gotta study.

Prof. Eisenlauer is a pleasure. He is old school but not too old. He has a great sense of humor and loves his subject. Repeats himself at times and doesn't provide a study guide for exams. Very helpful if you ask questions. No homework. 3 Exams. Study hard and take good notes. I got a B

LOVE this professor. Come to class, listen to his lectures, sometimes they are boring but he does his best to liven things up with jokes and cool topics. Read the textbook and take online quizzes thats where his questions tend to come from. His tests are challenging and cover a lot of information. start the course project early!

Completely dry and boring lecture. The $90 paperweight book is used extensively, so plan to actually read it if you want something like a B or A, since it seems like the professor writes the exams off the book. Exam 1 is easy if you know bio already. You need to read for exam 2 and the final. Didn't buy the book and got my credit. It's possible.

His lectures are fairly interesting and easy to understand. You only get 1 assignment total. 2 tests; midterm and final. I passed with an A without a book but you will definitely need to read the texts for his final. I got lucky.

Personally, his lectures were interesting to me, but you'll definitely need to read the text in order to pass the exams b/cause his lectures do not cover everything, its very brief. You must read the textbook, and pretty much try to understand everything in it because his tests are mostly based on the texts. You have to put time into this class.

Loved the lectures but hated that the tests were 90% from the text. The articles in the book is what killed me so I had to eventually drop. Would have loved the class without the articles. Seems like the book and lectures are two completely different subjects,

Easy A. 1 Oral, 2 Midterms, & Final w/ option of extra credit. Good attendance earns and reading all directions on exams for opportunity to receive extra points (ie. 2 points for circling your name). Need to read textbook for exams, since lecture does not cover it all. Lectures can be dry, but I found him amusing.

He was very clear when he was teaching his lessons, if something was confusing he goes back over it. He is extremely intelligent and very easy to talk to. I was amazed at how his knowledge just came to him, he teaches a large amount of classes and has done it for some time. He is friends with other well known anthropologists and it shows.

I wasn't expecting anything at all but still let down. At least the book is interesting. Eisenlauer is MONO-toned, dull, dreadfull. He will bore you to sleep. He is passionate, experienced but his dull tone leads you to believe otherwise. He made me loose interest in Archeology. Over detailed tests on miniscule info.

This guy is AWESOME!!! Best teacher I have ever had! Dr. E has been to so many places in the world that his real world stories tie well into the material. Great sense of humor and who would have thought anthro would be this fun?? NEED book, take notes! 2 tests and 1 final...first test has a study guide, second doesn't and final has a cheat sheet!

Professor Eisenlauer is great! His grading is very fair. Although this is a very very hard class because his tests are specific, I still worked really hard and got an A. He's one of the nicest and most willing to help professors at pierce. If you show him you truly do care, he will go above and beyond for you to succeed in his class.

BORING. This class put me to sleep. The professor absolutely knows his subject & he is thoroughly experienced in the archeology field but every single class, except one, is him just lecturing about the assigned chapter. The labs were somewhat interesting but not really. Research paper due with high expectations from the professor. Test are 70+ Qs

He knows his stuff and you can tell he is passionate about archaeology. But he literally kills the subject due to his mono tone voice. Lectures semi reviews the chapters but overall pointless. Labs are pointless but needed for credit. Overall the tests is textbooks. MUST READ TEXTBOOK to do well on tests. Start paper early to get it over with.

Eisenlauer is a GREAT professor in the fact that he is super interesting to listen to and holds your attention. His tests are HARD. We had 2 midterms and 1 final and i've never felt more confident going into tests and so awful leaving them. Luckily, he grades on a curve. Do the extra credit!

This class was very boring. You have to create your own lecture notes. There are 3 tests which are very long and the questions are hard unless you dissect the book. The final test you do get a cheat sheet and the extra credit will boost you one letter grade which saved me

You have to study and read the assigned all the readings in class in order to pass. He is an amazing teacher who really cares for his students and offers extra credit assignments and presentations to help boost up your grade. Take him you won't regret it but make sure you're on top of your stuff you need to do.

Dr. E is an amazing teacher. His lectures are really interesting don't be afraid to ask questions+ take A LOT of notes. We had 3 exams that were graded on a curve. All of the exam questions are based on lecture notes and the readings from the book. As long as you read and ask questions you'll be fine. He also offers extra credit opportunities.

This was probably the most fun I've ever had in a "history/science" class (2 subject I am awful at). The professor has great lectures & gives wonderful visuals & examples. He answers questions. There is almost no homework besides the reading. Tests are long but the grading scale is very lenient. He makes you very interested in the topic. Loved it!

Really great professor, his lectures can be a bit drawn out but he certainly knows his stuff. In order to succeed in this class it takes work his lectures rely heavily on the textbook. This was a tough class but it was well worth it.

This class was great :) prof gives really interstibtg lectures and I got As on all the tests because he gave us study guides. Just make sure you read up on all the material you don't know about and do the study guides. His tests were also curved.

Great prof! I took him for both Anthro 101 and 121. Very interesting lectures! Both have two midterms and one final each. 121 has three lists of readings to complete, one before each exam (are non-cumulative). One presentation in 121. 101 has cheat sheet for final. One extra credit each. Great stories, esp the crow one in 121! Highly recommended!

Awesome prof! I took 121 and it was a fun class to learn from! Good amount of reading but it's not bad. Just don't leave all the readings right before the test, trust me. Each student has to present a chapter from the book and one easy extra credit assignment. 70 question test. If you read and get good lecture notes you'll do fine!

Dr. E teaches in a way that makes you feel that you aren't in a class. His lectures are just like interesting stories. Reading is a must! His exams are based off the book and his lectures which are 2 different topics but related. One presentation, which he counts as extra credit. His exams are really hard but he curves a lot. A LOT.

The last 3rd of the class was the most interesting to me. Lecture heavy class, book is needed. The lectures were very content rich, had to type to keep up. Study guides given. I studied heavily but always left the tests feeling defeated, still always got A's from the curve. 3 exams, 1 presentation, extra credit. READ BOOK READ BOOK READ BOOK.
