He leads a very interesting class. His format is very laid out in his classroom discussions and he picks intereting topics to discuss each semester. His lectures are very unpredictable but they will grab your attention to listen and get involved.

joe dewey is a god. he's one of the funniest men i have ever come across. he's a tough grader, but he makes up for it by helping those who need help. and he's freakin hilarious.

Dr. Dewey is harshly sincere when he teaches. If you can't take ridicule - forget it. I think his style is unique and effective. Take this class if you think you are already a good writer - you'll get a reality check.

Dewey was a really funny teacher. He really helped me become a better writed. he was great, I would take him again and again!

Joseph Dewey is the sickest man on the earth. This guy cracks me up. I can't stop laughing when I only look at him. He's slaughtered every one of my papers with incomprehensible red ink. He likes to cite vulgar slang. wow is he sick!

Good professor. He gives you helful handouts. If you follow them when writing papers you'll easily get an A. He also provides you with information that's helpful in other English classes.

Dr. Dewey is an excellent professor.I will admit that his classes are hard but they are far more interesting than those boring lectures.He is extremely smart and you can learn a lot from him if you just pay attention.Take him if you like English.

Any prof. that makes the class hold hands on the first day and says F*ck a dozen times to make a point that we are adults, in my book is alright. He does pick stupid plastics out and call them barbie constantly. All in good fun though.

Colorful language and strong dislike for life make him hilarious. I wouldn't recommend Dewey if you're not comfortable with writing, because he will not baby you. He makes great analogies for you to understand them, but you kinda have to know how to write well to get good grades.

this is the stupidest class I've ever taken. he treats us like we're retarded. "this is how you write a thesis, let's spend two weeks on it!" HELLO. I am an English major. I know how to write a god damn thesis. Stop repeating yourself and say something worthwhile.

The man. You have to know Dewey to understand Dewey. This guy does not have an ounce of politics or ego in him. He is strictly a prof with a passion to teach. An unbelievable sense of humor in a very dry manner. Does his job without fanfare and is good at it.

The man is very good professor. What most people don't understand is, once you peel away the obcenities and dry humor (which keep you interested) he is very good teacher. Knows how to tackle an essay like no other.

Love this guy. He's intimidating at first, but loosens up as the year goes on. He wants you to get As and offers bonuses on papers, such as doubling scores if there are no grammer errors. Funny, challenging, but a smart class to take if you want comp to be fun. Put your time in, and you'll get the grade you deserve

Very good Prof. Take a look at his ratings, most are excellent or poor which means you will love him or hate him. Most people cannot change their writing style, which is often incorrect, learn from him and you will love his class.

To all that gave him a bad review are probably freshman who have no interest except guitar hero. Yes, he swears...so does your mother...Yes, he hard...but HE GIVES YOU THE ANSWERS IN CLASS! Why don't you pick up a pencil and paper and write what he says...he's insightful and extremely smart...unlike most freshman

ok, here's the absolute truth....his classes are not that hard! He tells you EXACTLY what to put into your writing! Very intelligent and treats you appropriately...If you continue to write like an idiot and not put in what he tells you...then you deserve a terrible grade...it's really just a measure of your common sense...

Dr. Dewey is a wonderful teacher. You will do well in his class if you attend class and take notes. He is very insightful and made me think more than any other professor I have had.

Straight out, take his classes. By far the best teacher I have come across, that opens your mind to writing. He tells you exactly what you need to know and how to do things, plus if you need help he's there. He replies to emails in like 5 minutes, and he's pretty insightful. Like I said, take his classes and you'll actually learn something.

Seriously, if you want to be successful as a writer, take his class. He is extremely helpful, and he immediately responds to e-mails. He is slightly difficult to get used to if you're not open to changing your writing style, but I am taking all classes possible with him. Great professor!

Great professor. I have taken 3 classes with him and I have learned so much. Yes, he does pick favorites, but he still grades fairly. He gives out huge bonuses for simple tasks. If you attend class and take notes, there is no reason why an A is unattainable. Also, there is a huge curve.

Great Professor. I took him for Comp1 and Comp2. Enjoyed his class thoroughly.

I kept coming to class just to see what was going to fall out of this mans mouth. It you have a delicate ego, don't take him. Otherwise, take his class and be prepared to have a memorable time.

I really appreciated this class. Definitely difficult; I had to work for my grade. But he's clear about how to succeed. And he really teaches you how to write well. He's funny and makes class interesting. Certainly not an easy A, but if you want to be a good writer, this guy is great. Lots of group in-class work. Clear expectations.

The students giving Professor Dewey terrible ratings are either 1) fresh out of high school andor 2) don't know what it means to work for your grade. He literally gives you a checklist of necessary things for a paper in ENC1101. He speaks in analogies and doesn't want to listen to your excuses. With that being said, he is very approachable.

I had taken him for ENC 1101, Broward Central College. Very easy class and you educational. You do work in this class, you will have four to five small essay to write. MID-TERM AND FINALS are a breeze. I loved him and he goes the extra mile for students. Make sure you take advantage and do the extra credit assignment online. no textbook needed!!

Prof. cusses & uses metaphors but, makes sense with assignments. He is very lenient with assignment due dates ONLY if you are truly showing that you want to pass. Very understanding when it comes to schedules, (work, kids, etc.) but, don't abuse it. In a nutshell, if you don't care about your grade, he won't either. Gives extra credit!

Professor Dewey is the the instructor you need to maximise your writing skills. He is very helpful if you show interest in his class. Follow his instructions, work on your assignments and you will get an easy A. He gives plenty of extra credits to improve your grade. I highly recommend this professor.

Dewey is the best professor. You wont regret taking him. If you're lazy and are the type to pay someone to do your assignment you wont pass. I recommend you stay after class for 5 minutes everytime. this will show you are willing to learn and want to clarify what the next assignment is. He's hilarious. dont take his grading personally.

I took Dr. Dewey at Broward College this year. He is absolutely one of my favorite professors. His lectures are hilarious and he is a very witty guy. If you still don't grasp that this is college and you have to work for your grade then this class isn't for you. The work is fairly easy as long as you apply yourself. Great guy and great teacher!

Awesome teacher, great lectures, you'll never get bored in his class

Honestly, the class wasn't all that bad. He's hilarious, which makes the lectures fun to attend. He makes you write page long paragraphs, but he mainly makes you write no more than 2-3 paragraphs per assignment (do the math). He's a HUGE grammar junkie. But overall he is pretty much willing to help you improve your writing if you SEEK HIS HELP.
