Class was most definitely interesting. He rambled on about most things and made the class longer than it needed to be. Taught the class with YouTube videos. Online textbook. Pay attention in class and read the chapters and the class should be a breeze. Easy A.
Overall great professor. Rambles sometimes but is interesting. Fair grades and amount of work.
He is a lazy teacher but it is an easy class.
I enjoyed this class. He sometimes rambles, but he is clear and a fair grader. He gives good feedback and also answers emails fast.
I enjoyed this class. Sometimes the material was weird and a little hard to follow. He always answers emails fast though, so all my questions were covered.
Assesments are super easy. There are only 3 and one is take-home. You don't really have to go to class and the book he uses is free online. One of the easiest classes I took this semester.
Great class as long as you keep up with the material. No pop quizzes only a few easy online assignments that literally take 5 minutes to do. 4 tests including the final and all tests are cumulative. He is a really fair grader and is understanding if you miss assignments online. Also gives you an online survey for a 100 that will replace a test!
I really like this class. Sociology is a little weird, but Professor Padgett explains things well. Also, he's really helpful outside of class unlike a lot of professors who act like they don't have time for students. Highly recommend him.
Great professor. Understands that it is a 101 class so the material and assignments aren't super difficult. If you make an effort you should have a good grade in the class. Has reading quizzes online every week so you have to at least skim the textbook but he uses an online one that is free so that's one less book you have to buy. Highly recommend.
Come to class, participate, do your assignments and you will succeed in this class.
Padgett's a good teacher, but his lectures are pretty much just him reading off the slides. He is very clear in what you need to study to get good grades on his tests and provides all the info you need online. His voice is monotonous but the subject matter is interesting, so he's easy to listen to. Speak up in his class, he likes participation.
This class wasn't bad at all. All the slides are put on blackboard and he basically reads off of them, giving a little more detail in class. We watched cool videos sometimes. The info he gives isn't challenging; in the words of the professor: "this is just a 101 course". One paper, 2 easy MC exams. Get the book, read it the night before a test.
Very laid back and easy going. If you can use common sense, and remember a few simple terms, there's no reason not to pass. Not much reading, and he used a free online textbook. Never had him for a higher level class, but definitely a good choice for intro. Especially for non-sociology majorsminors. Would definitely take him again.
Kind of a boring class, but pretty easy. Attendance is not mandatory, but some videos you watch or info he says in class could be on the exams, so don't just skip every single one. He is very knowledgeable about sociology, so if you're really into that subject, then you'll get a lot out. If you don't care for it, then it will just be a bore.
if you take notes and study, youll get an A in the class. tests and homework are easy. most of the time the lectures are pretty interesting. take this class!
Super easy class. The material is a lot of common knowledge and genuinely easy. His lectures can be dull and he rambles but he knows what he's talking about. Class would have been more interesting if people spoke up. 2 easy exams and one essay. Attendance isn't taken and he puts his PP on Blackboard aka a dream come true
Class was cancelled several times throughout the semester and often let out early. Tests were not difficult and there were few concepts which were necessary to learn, so by the end of the semester you know those pretty well. Overall an easy class to do well in, though the instructor didn't seem that interested in teaching it.
Very straight forward. Midterms were pretty much straight from the class powerpoints, which he posts on BB. Told class that he tried to make the midterms somewhat simple to benefit the students. Little effort and common sense will carry you a long way in this class. You would really have to try, or not at all, to do badly in this class.
Really helped me outside of class. A lot of professors I had before did not do that. The material was tough but when I asked him questions he just explained the stuff so good that it clicked perfectly. I ended up with better grades than thought I would. He comes off as rough but don't let that fool you. It fades fast when you ask him for help.
He is a good professor. Participation really matters to him, so try to speak up. There were 3 pretty easy tests, and you were allowed to replace one of the tests with a 100 if you do the survey he posts. I recommend him
I couldn't care less about sociology. The subject and approach is weird. But this class turned out to be interesting and fun. Padgett is odd, but a great teacher. He helped me so much outside of class. Always had a quick answer to emails and went out of his way to meet me for a makeup quiz at night after I got off work. Highly recommend any him.
Sociology is tough in some ways, common sense in others. His lectures are a little dry, but when you ask him anything it's obvious he knows his stuff. Better yet, he tells you when he doesn't know. Told me he'd get back to me once. Emailed me later with an extensive answer - obvious he researched it. What else could you ask for in a huge class?
He comes off as grumpy, but turns out to be really funny and down to earth. If you try - read the (free)book, go to class, do your work - you really do learn the material easily. Took this because a friend wanted me to, now I'm checking to see what other classes he teaches.
My first semester and things were rough. Talked to him and he told me about his undergrad - he was a non-traditional student who had to work his way through college. I can relate. He's a little tough, but very helpful if you're willing to try. I like the guy and am really interested in sociology now!
If you don't get an A in this class then it is 100% your own fault. He makes it more than possible to get an A without any stress, which is great because it was only a 101 class and he obviously understands that. The paradigms are carried throughout the course material, so you definitely leave the class with that knowledge forever. Nice guy.
Professor Padgett puts all his powerpoint slides online and gives online quizzes using blackboard. I went to class maybe 4 times this semester and came out with an A. easy A. Highly recommend him
Amazing professor! Really knows his stuff. Follow instructions and do all the assignments by the date they are due online and you'll get an A. He's super helpful when you need him.
Super smart guy. Not so hard on the eyes either. He was very helpful and checks his email often. He answers questions and is obviously interested in the material. Free text book. Will take another class with this professor!
Super fair and fun class. Not too much homework. Test materials are easy to follow. Puts everything on Blackboard so you can easily find things. Easy to contact and knows the subject. Will take his classes again.
A very solid class. Come to class, listen and interact in the lectures, and you absolutely cannot fail. Just remember to do the online activities on time and there's no reason why you can't make an A in this class. Would take again, for sure.
His tests and online activities are not difficult at all. The textbook is online and free, and you only need to use it when doing his homework. He likes for people to interact with him during class, so try to participate when he asks questions. I would recommend him.
Please do the online test and do well on them. I messed up and screwed up on a few and it hurt my grade but I still managed to pull out a B. Test comes directly from the notes, the book is not recommended. Easy A if you study for the test and complete all the online assignements on time.
I made an A in this class just from knowing vocabulary in the text book. Lectures were extremely boring and not useful at all, but he's a nice professor for the most part. He will end class early pretty frequently. You need to know vocabulary and major concepts to do well, but there isn't any homework or super hard assignments. Easy but very boring
Padgett is a great professor! You can tell he is passionate about sociology, and definitely breaks it down for you to understand! The textbook for he assigned was free online.
Really knows his stuff and is a great professor. Follow instructions and do assignments on time and you'll get an A. He's super helpful.
Loved his class and would definitely recommend it to anyone! He's an easy grader and a good professor. I had a few special circumstances and he was very understanding. He even made time to meet me outside of normal office hours.
I learned so much from this class. Its difficult but he makes everything clear. A lot of sensitive topics, but all views were respected.
he is very helpful and his lectures are clear. he's more than happy to help you after class with something. It's nice having a professor who really wants you to succeed.
Easy class. 4 exams and a lot of online assignments. He offered us to do a survey to replace an exam grade with a 100. Basically show up, do well on the exams, and pass. Would take if you need a humanity/pre-req course.
Easy class. Gave one chance to replace a test grade with a 100. tests are multiple choice. There should be no reason to fail this class.
The class was easy. The textbook is free. You can replace your lowest exam with clicker points and he has extra credit. There is no reason for anyone to bad in this class.
His class was really interesting and he has a good sense of humor. He's down to earth and jokes a lot. Just do the short online assignments and take notes and the class will be easy.
I enjoyed this class a lot. A lot of sociology is common sense, and his tests were pretty easy. He keeps stuff in the course interesting though.
This class is easy to get an A in. The lectures are on Blackboard and there are online assignments that are super easy. He mumbles and needs to learn to speak up. He likes when you interact with him during the lectures. 4 exams, replaces lowest score with 100 if you take survey. Its kinda a teach-yourself class, but its not hard at all.
This class was interesting and fun. Professor had a good sense of humor and assignments were easy.
I liked Dr. Padgett's class a lot. Sociology is kinda confusing but he made it easy to understand. I will take other classes with him.
This was my favorite class this year. Mr. Padgett was very helpful and the course material was interesting.
Professor Padgett's class wasn't very difficult and the assignments he gave didn't take up way to much of my time. He did give a few pop quizzes and you have to do quizzes online but those are only a small part of the grade.
I enjoyed this class. Make sure you remember to do the online assignments. they are short but it's easy to forget them. really he only tells you about things once and then expects you to keep track of it by checking the schedule online regularly. I liked his lectures, but sometimes he will put people on the spot and ask questions in class.
If you pay attention in class, do the readings, and keep track of the online activities you will do well in this class. Professor Padgett is also very helpful outside of class and none of the assignments are very difficult.
This class was easy. One test store can be replaced by an optional assignment and the homework is really short and simple. Lectures were sort of interesting. No in class work.
I liked the class and the professor. The "online activities" are very short, open-book quizzes that you do online about once every other week. There are four easy tests and the text book is free. Also, all of his lecture materials are available on Blackboard and he answers emails pretty fast.
Most boring class taught by the most boring guy. It was hard to stay awake in lecture and they felt so long. With that said it was the easiest class I've ever taken.
Very nice and understanding guy. If you're not the best at sociology, take him. He is easy going and funny and will help you and make sure you end with a good grade in his class.
Professor Padgett is very easy going. As long as you show up to class and pay attention it is an easy A. His homework is online activities through an online textbook, which is free! You get two attempts to complete the homework and he averages the grades. He drops your lowest test grade if you participate in a study. $ tests no final exam
Awesome teacher! Easy assignments online, free textbook, and tests are easy as long as you study he won't trick you. He tries to make lectures less boring with some funny jokes making it easier to sit through. Respect him a lot.
Padgett was awesome. Easiest class I've ever had. He's funny and very blunt in his lectures. Made sociology a lot more interesting than I thought it could be. 10/10 would recommend
Easiest class I've ever taken. Occasionally takes attendance, offers an entire test grade of extra credit. Lectures are fairly interesting. Tests are super easy and straight from lectures and hw questions, I literally didn't study for our last test at all and made an A.
Well respected teacher. Lectures can be boring from time to time but if you actually pu attention they're pretty interesting. Hilarious guy, if you show that you care about class he will help you.
Not bad professor. Tries to make the material interesting even though its really not. Just study the ppt's for the tests and you should be good. A couple extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester. Over all easy class.
At first it may seem like the material is all over the place and you won't be able to know it all but the tests are fairly easy and he gives a lot of leeway on things. There is extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester that can really help. I would definitely recommend to take his class and do not stress about the class at all.
I really enjoyed his class. Thought sociology would be boring but he mad it intersting. He is a straight shooter but is funny lots of times. I am going to take other classes with him if they are available.
I am a sophmore and he was the best professor Ive had so far. He is pretty funny and interesting even though some of the class material was real boring. The class talked about sensitive things and he was very straight up about uncomfortable topics. He definitely has a unique way of thinking and gives you stuff to consider that I never thought of.
I enjoyed the class but some of the material seemed mostly like common sense. Professor Padgett gave cler instructions for assignments and grades. Four test and easy and short online activities. I would definitely take a class with him again.
Monotoned and sometimes grumpy, gives online activities which help boost your grade. Super easy subject, mostly common sense. Some of the tests are online that you can do outside of class. Class time consists of uncomfortable conversations and awkward silences. You can skip pretty much every class and still make and A.
Very easy class. Lectures are sometimes boring but take notes and you'll pass the tests easily. Gives extra credit and also replaces the lowest test score. Online tests sometimes too. Easiest class I have taken. He makes it very hard not to get an A.
Padgett's class was extremely easy, almost too easy, I did not even study and made a 98 and 105 on my exams. I paid attention just because I was interested and enjoyed his lectures. He is a great guy, I learned a lot and he was hilarious. I would definitely take him again. This class requires no effort for an A and he is a great professor.
Professor Padgett was a great instructor. A lot of the material was boring or just common sense. He was pretty funny though and put an interesting spin on thinking about the ways people come to act the way they do. I enjoyed learning about how social structures impacts even your most personal traits. Would definitely take other courses with him.
His class was interesting. Some of the material was hard for me but he met me outside class to help. Questions from the homework show up on the test.
He seems like a hard ass at first, and he is stern in some ways. But then he turns out to be a very funny and interesting guy. He made sociology interesting and gives good advice about making it in college in general too. Class was very reasonable. Homework assignments are easy and the exact questions that will be on the test. I recommend him.
Professor Padgett is very blunt and straight forward which I personally like in a professor. All the topics are interesting and he doesn't give you any work just to keep you busy. Overall the class is pretty simple, do your homework and go through the online textbook and you'll pass with nothing less than a B.
Overall a very easy professor. Do the work and you will more than likely receive an A.
Take him and do yourself a favor. But make sure to do the online blackboard work, cause it adds up to your final grade. I came to class every day and the lowest test grade I made was a 95, and he is really funny.
Hands down best professor I have had (I'm a junior). He made sociology interesting and his class was very reasonable in terms of work load. He didn't give busy work. Everything was set up to help learn the material. Beyond that, he was super helpful to me outside of class and with school related stuff that he had no obligation to help me with.
Interesting guy and class , definitely would recommend this course. Work load is relatively easy, just make sure to do the readings so you understand what's going on during lectures. Pretty lenient grader at times I thought to lenient but great class overall.
When I first started this class, I was worried. He puts off a persona in the beginning of being a hardass, but he's actually really lenient and nice. He's willing to work with you, as long as you do the work (which there's barely any of). There are a lot of readings, but you don't *HAVE* to do them. Participate in class and he'll notice.
I really enjoyed Dr. Padgett's deviance course. The topics were interesting and he had a good sense of humor. The work load wasn't too bad. Several short assignments and a paper that you work on throughout the semester. There were also two tests that were essay format, but they were manageable.
Really easy professor that does not try and make an easy subject tough. If you have a chance to have him as a professor, take him. Highly recommended.
Prof Padgett is such an awesome professor. He makes the material very interesting and is one of the funniest and light hearted people ever. If you have the chance to take him for sociology definitely do!!!!
He did not take attendance every class and showing up wouldn't really make a difference. His powerpoints are always online so if you miss a class you can see what you missed. Your grade is pretty much just determined by tests and online homework. Don't miss one though, he doesn't take late work and everything is out of 100 so a 0 really hurts
Professor Padgett is a good teacher, let me start out by saying. However, his style of teaching has to be something works for you-it didn't really for me. Attendance is only "mandatory" because he does grade you on it at the end of the semester so it really helps your grade! Easy class overall and you don't have to buy a textbook! So bonus!
Padgett is one of the better, maybe the best, professors I've had. His sense of humor is kind of dark, but really funny. The course was incredibly interesting. He will make you really think about deviance and why people behave the way they do. Highly recommend. Be careful though, he doesn't take any work late.
Dr. Padgett has a sense of humor that does not have a filter - he says what comes to his mind, which I respect and find admirable. He supplies you with an online textbook that's free, and 3/4 of our exams were online and open note, but a majority of the questions did come from the textbook readings, so make sure that you actually do those!
Beware that this man is very wishy-washy regarding when exams are, but the exams are beyond easy. 3 of our 4 exams were online, and he replaces the lowest exam with a 100 if you participate in a research project (super easy). He makes class interesting ands a very unique way of explaining otherwise boring concepts. Would definitely take him again!
Professor Padgett was hilarious and really knew a lot about sociology. Some days he takes attendance and some days he doesn't, but at the end of the semester, attendance will add up and counts toward your grade. All of our exams which there are 4, were online except for 1 and he gives you almost 4 hours to take them and you can access all notes.
Lectures were kind of dry , but mostly everything is online. Really cool guy and funny. Make sure you participate, he doesn't like a quiet audience.
Gives you a link to a free book. He doesn't care what you think about him and it makes his teaching style very interesting. Attendance isn't necessary but will sometimes decide to take it. 4 tests, 2 of ours were online but that depends on how much your class listens and participates. Free 100 on a test if you do his research study.
At first, I didn't really get his humor - it's very dry and brash, but it started to grow on me. We had 4 exams, the last two of which were online. There are opportunities for extra credit and the textbook is free. He's very random when he checks attendance, so beware because it could lower your grade. Easy A.
Seems a bit rude and harsh at first, but is actually a pretty funny guy. Class is interesting and does not require a ton of work. He posts all his lectures online, but also checks attendance randomly so make sure you go to class. There are online quizzes but they are super easy and the tests are not very hard. I would recommend taking this class
Professor Padgett was a great professor. I really enjoyed his upfront attitude and humor. I learned a lot in this class about why people behave the way they do and how society ended up the way it is today.
If you're looking for an easy, non-stressful sociology class, you must take Padgett. While the 8:30am lecture is boring sometimes, you'll be able to easily complete the online quizzes, as he posts the powerpoints on BB. The tests are a little more challenging, but hey, college is a step above from HS.
He was a great teacher for sociology 101. Get ready to sit through long lectures though. I had an 8:30am class so it seemed very boring that early. The material is easy and the textbook was very clear (and free online). He grades with tests and quizzes but they are fairly easy if you payed attention and read the book.
Professor Padgett is comes off as harsh, but he can be pretty entertaining and understanding. The lectures are dense and can get boring, but attendance is taken randomly so don't miss a class. All of the assignments are on Blackboard and are fairly easy if you pay attention and read. The four tests were online and stuck to the material he presented
He's a great guy and very relatable. All of our exams were online and we didn't even have a final. Easy A and a fun class to take. Definitely worth the 8:30.
Definitely worth waking up early. The class is easy and the online activities are simple. You get four hours to complete the exams which are only 50ish questions. He takes attendance randomly but I dont think he really puts it into our grade
takes attendance randomly. he makes it hard to fail so as long as you go to class, you will be fine.
We had one in-class exam that I failed, but if you do his research project, it replaces it with a 100. He can be very crude at times, but is hilarious. If you do the EXTREMELY easy online homework, you will do fine. the 3 other exams are online and open note, but you have to search for the answers in the textbook and can take 2.5 hours to take them
I'm not going to lie. This class is one of the most boring things I have ever had to go through. But it's an easy A, so as long as you do the online homework and exams, you should be good to go. Also, one exam is dropped, and he takes attendance every day.
Best professor I have had. He was really funny and the class was very interesting. It was an intro course, so lots of lectures. But the assignments were easy and not too many of them. I will definitely take him again.
The class was not the most exciting class, but Padgett is a funny guy. THe work is fair. You should definitely get an A in this class.
I hope I can take more classes with Dr. Padgett. I enjoyed his teaching style, and the workload was very manageable. He graded very objectively. The course covered a lot of interesting topics.
Very funny guy, he tries to get the class involved with what hes lecturing about. He has four tests, which are mainly online, and online activities which the answers are in the powepoints he posted. very long class though and the time always went by so slow. Make sure to attend class because he takes attendance and it knocked my grade down.
He's a great guy with a very funny personality, that being said he's not going to listen to your BS. Class is super interesting, don't NEED the book but it will definitely help you out a TON. As long as you complete all work assigned with some effort you will get an A.
PAdgett was an amazing professor. I don't care much about sociology, but he is very funny. He did take attendance, but the amount of work for the course was very fair. Overall the course was very easy. I would highly recommend him.
You have to try to fail this class. Seriously. Just go to class and sit there (he takes off points if you don't), do the online work, and do his research project. Legitimately no reason to not get an A unless you don't care. The lectures are fine, its college you'll get through it. This class is fair and a gift for your GPA.
Honestly this man is kind of crazy, but it definitely kept me engaged at 8:30 in the morning.
