Great Prof. Likes students. Knows his stuff
very halpfull and clear, guid you though everything you need
Great teacher. Very helpful, wants students to succeed. Never be afraid to ask for help. You need your book to complete all assignments. Quizzes/tests fairly easy if you study.
You need to study by yourself if you take this class. He does not teach at all and gives quiz for every chapter. Those quiz were befor he teach....even though after the quiz...he does not teach. and Give the HW every week. Not easy not hard if you study the whole book by yourself.
Good but hard
He was the worst professor ever... Not hard but he does not have clear answers to our questions and usually not prepared for lectures. Most of time he is confused. Not nice person at all...Very lazy and unorganized. Sometimes his comments are very extreme and offensive. If you are thinking of taking him, RECONSIDER that.
DON'T TAKE HIM. Y
Fun, Interesting, Knows his stuff. Brings in real world experiences
I like the class he is very helpful with everything. thanks for your help.
Take him! Great Prof, brings in real world experience. Hard, but fair.
If you are familiar with computers at all, then this class will be a breeze. He is very lenient on attendance (especially in the beginning of the semester). He's really nice and will try his best to help you. Good jokes too
Great, Highly recommended, J.Perret is really patient and helpful.if you want to learn professionally take him.Final test is exactly like final practice test.
For homework assignments, just mimic the book as much as possible and you will be fine. Prepare for a lot of group work and weekly quizzes.
Great Teacher -Take him!
I actually enjoyed this class i really leraned a lot Prof. Perret is a true businessman and business majors can learn a lot for him i have to admit he is not the typical college teacher but i will present you real world problems and will not take s*** from anyone
Professor Perret is a great teacher. i recommend you take him. You need the book and you have to do all the homework. I missed alot of class and he was very helpful in explaining what i missed. The class was easy as long as you do the homework your bound to get an A.
He gives you a very hard time if you are unwilling to listen and read the book. He will help you if he sees that you try. Do all the homework, quizzes and tests. He comes across arrogant at times but that is his personality, you have to ignore it and move on. Sometimes he is not clear w/his instructions on assignments and it can be frustrating.
Professor Perret is a great teacher, lots of homework, quizzes and tests, but he helps you with everything you need. Do the work, read the book and you will do just fine.
Fun and easy class, just follow the book and lab hours, your will get an A if you do all the assignments and exams which are not hard... he gives you all the instructions, great Professor!!!
Awesome, He really consider how hard you work and try in the class. he is very knowledgeable and helpful. highly recommended. He is Really one of the best.I have taken him for my CAOT 82, 32 he was wonderful. The are many exams which help you to improve your grade and have an idea about your final grade.
Great Prof Hard but fair. Really driven to help you succeed in the class. Uses lots of technology. Everything is available online.
Work, work, work, work, work! That's all that this class is about. You ave 2 assignments due each week worth 10 points, and a group assignment due each week worth 20 points. So if you don't like working in groups, forget it. It'll be a waste of time.
Hard but worth it
You have a lot of assignments, and a lot of group work. Everything is done on the computer. You have the answers to the exams before hand so its really easy to ace them. However, the power points he has are premade and he just stamps his name on them. It doesnt seem like he makes an effort to actually make sure you understand the material.
VERY UNORGANIZED!!! You can easily get an A if you are able to teach yourself and work with others. Hates it when people walk out during his lectures which are really pointless anyway. One of the easiest classes to get an A, but one of this****iyest teachers Ive had.
Must come to class he helps you out you have like lil quizes once a week. the reading is from the book.. Lots of homework .. he doesnt grade it til like few weeks later, but you still have to turn it online. he doesnt except paper from you. everything is all threw moddle ... i like the class .
The class has a lot of work but in all was a good experience. A quiz every week along with a group project, but learned a lot which will help in the future.
you NEED to buy the book. Theres alot of homework in this class that is due every week so make sure to stay ahead of it. There are group assignments every week so you need to do that as well as your own individual assignments.Overall, fairly easy as long as you stay on top of things
There is a lot of homework in the class, but if you complete it and study for the quizzes every week you'll have no problem getting an A in this class. The quizzes are highly related to the test, too. Prof Perret was generally very helpful and easy going. I really enjoyed the class atmosphere.
There's a lot of hmwrk and gruop work.. but if you go to class you'll do well.
He is helpful and teaches well as long as you are willing to come to class and learn. Not that hard of a class if you pay attention and study.
attendance along with buying the book is a MUST. Homework and group assignments every week. quiz on reading 1 chapter every week. keep up with the work ,dont fall behind and you would do fine
Great Prof
Helpful, So many opportunity to increase your grade, friendly, Quizes and teast are easy , Group work, Fair, Nice, Always readu to help you
the smallest details are being examined very precious. The assignments are easy but again if its not perfect than points will be deducted. For ex the final if its done perfect then u get 90 out of 100 the other 10 points is for looks LOL think twice before taking him if ur not familiar with material
The class was very easy going and great instructions on the basic use of Outlook
He was just okay, not the best because he gave numerous assignments that I can possibly finish by the due dates.
I wasn't crazy about him at first, but quickly changed my opinion. Great Teacher!! Would take him.
he is the best
It's an important class, but he is hard to understand because of the tons of assignments he gives. If you are taking more than 9 units, DO NOT TAKE his class, you'll get burnt out. The assignments are stressful and VERY time consuming. Every single week we have a quiz, group assignment, and individual assignments. They are based on researches.
Great Prof. Very helpful and knows his stuff
A professor who really knows his subject. The class has a heavy work load but if you do the work you will really learn the material. If your a BUS or CAOT major I highly recommend him. His manner is a little gruff at times but he is funny and very helpful. If your looking for an easy A look elsewhere. If you actually want to learn he is a must.
He is a very good professor. He knows his subject so well. If you are a lazy student I can't recommend him to you. However, if you're a student who wants to really to good in class and always on time and do your work on time, I would highly recommend him. I have him for three subjects and I was carrying 16 units I got 3 A's.
Great teacher. Knows his stuff. Uses lots of technology.Fun class
Great Teacher, one of the best. You work hard, but learn a lot.
Great prof. Knows his stuff. Fun but short lectures.
No, just no. I'm all for having a fair amount of assignments but he just gives far too much for a 3 unit class. Doesn't teach, expects for you to read everything on your own. Quizzes every week with questions based solely on opinion, so it hurts your final grade.
Before taking this class make sure you're mentally strong, and have good time management. Every week there is a quiz, an individual assignment, and a group assignment. Towards the end there is a big group project. Not sure if he will change the exams from multiple choice to written exams on the following semesters (fall2013-??). Good luck!!
are you serious? this guy SUCKS. the first 10 minutes of every class is a quiz. group projects every class. only reads slides outloud that the author of the book made. requires everything to be turned in online and he doesnt even freaking grade them on time so we never know if we did well or not. do yourself a favor and dont take this class.
This is not the professor you want to take. The lecture is a joke. The professor is rude. There are way too many homework assignments that he doesn't even read. We submitted a topic for our group project which he "graded". When we did our presentation on the topic six weeks later, he said the topic was not related to the course.
Very organized. Uses lots of technology. Knows his stuff
Organized good instructor. Cares about students. Really knows subject
Great prof make it interesting, uses technology
Knows the subject, works with you to help you get through it. Always available. Take him if you can
Fun class covers all stuff you want to know how to use like LinkedIn.
Professor was always helpful. Kept you on task and motivated. Answered emails and replied to forum questions. Explained assignments, clearly. Enjoyed our once a week kick off chat sessions.
Great teacher, good course to get you ready for online
he is the one of excellent professor in pierce college.
He is the one of the best professor in piece college.
Prof. Perret is great. He is easy-going and helpful. There were some typos in the assignments and various aspects of the Moodle site, and sometimes instructions weren't completely clear. But the prof is really great at answering questions, and he encourages students to help each other out too. Great online course!
This class should be a requirement for high school seniors along with PD 40.
This professor is a keystone as to why I feel I can return to college and succeed. Our assignments were reasonable. Our tasks were not out of reach, and he was helpful throughout. He is organized, clear, had appropriate expectations for the range of students.
Very Good Professor!
I pass this class with a decent grade, but avoid this teacher if you can! He knows the subject, maybe because he has been teaching for a while, but he is not helpful at all. Don't expect to get feedback for your assignments. He graded our first exam, a week after we finished the class! same with exam #2 and homework. Lazy professor.
Rude professor. A lot of group and individual homework. No feedback from professor.
This class was so frustrating! No Feedback from the professor at all. Some of my assignments haven't even been graded yet and I just took my final! I have no idea what my grade will be!
he provide alot of supporting material to help you. awesomme
Knowledgeable, nice, and respected in his field.A lot of Individual+group HW& weekly quizzes. Time mgmt-must. You have to invest time& effort. Excellent class because he gives real-life examples, more resources, and tips about each business field. Not recommended for freshmen and very tough for ESLs. Don't ever submit HW late cuz every point counts.
His whole class is divided into group assignments. Yes, there are individual assignments but they are not as taxing as the group assignments. He gives you a quiz to get you to read the chapter before he lectures on it, although his lectures are almost worthless. He's an easy good grade. I didn't do work for a month and got a B.
Gruff but hilarious. Will call you out for leaving class early - funny if it's not you. This class isn't hard, but it's time consuming. To succeed, go to every class, read chapter before each quiz, do all the homework. He is helpful if you ask - he wants you to succeed. Was dreading this class but ended up enjoying it, and I learned something.
Be prepared to have 15 assignments due the first week. He assigns different due dates throughout the week even though the class meets once a week and is not online or hybrid course. The amount of work is unrealistic. One individual and one group assignment, one take home quiz, and one in class quiz every week plus additional random assignments.
He reads the power point presentations provided by the publisher. The amount of work assigned each week was insane; the lack of logical instructions didn't help either. We didn't have an idea of our grades nor did we get any feedback until the weeks following our final. If you want a professor that's engaged, take it with someone else!
He assigns a ton of homework, and is never very clear about what exactly he wants, and continuously assigns random due dates even though the class meets once a week, so it is hard to keep on top of the due dates. He doesn't update grades, and makes you do a lot of group work. Quizzes every week you need to be in class for.
Overwhelming amount of work, no grades posted throughout semester, group work every week, instructor smug and obnoxious. Best part about this class is the fact that you will learn something. Read chapters, keep up online as all assignments are due before the next class, communicate with your group and do your share of the work or you won't pass.
Seriously man. Avoid this guy. You will regret it if you don't.
Week to week, consistent work(2-3 assignments a week). Due dates can skew. Open-ended with assignment details. You need to be in class for online quizzes. If you work part time/ full time or are not a business major, I would not recommend the class.
If this "teacher" was my first experience with college, I would have dropped out. He doesn't grade assignments for months. He doesn't respond to emails. There are mistakes that make assignments and quizzes difficult. He gives zeros for assignments that can't be done and won't respond to questions about it. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
I have learnwd alot in this class. He is a very tough but his class is really useful.
his class is very hard. Every Wednesday we have quizzes that are hard and every week we have projects about the weekly subjects. he is not helpful and gives to much work at once very week. If your a Mac user and need to take this class for your major this is not for you it will be harder than it is.
Good at explaining the material when he did lecture, but everthing revolved around constant group assignments. The criteria used to grade sometimes didn't feel clear though as we peer reviewed assignments(randomly assigned) and sometimes it felt like that was what decided your assignment grade. Pretty cool guy though.
All he does is watch videos. Instead of teaching students...
It is not business communications. It's english 21, but useless.
He has weekly meetings for extra credit, if not one person logs on, he denies the whole class of extra credit. Online classes are online for a reason, and for him to deny extra credit to the whole class is quite dumb. But be prepared to do a lot of group work. I felt this was more of an English class than a business class.
The amount of work would be pushing it for a 5-unit class, let alone a 3-unit course. Homework is due on different days during the week. It's difficult to manage if you're working full time. He may put secondary due dates within the descriptions of assignments. There is no break from gamut of weekly assignments when tests are also due.
Do not take this class. It's an online class and he is the worst instructor for multiple reasons here's a few -HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION: doesn't respond to emails -GRADING: tests are a joke. Right answers marked wrong. Doesn't grade on time -HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION: there is none to say the least, the modules are all over the place OVERALL BAD!
Do not recommend if youre a full time employee or taking several classes. He gives a lot of homework (individual & team assignments weekly) including weekly chapter quizzes. He offers extra credit, but if no one participates on his weekly forum he gets bothered and does not offer it. Assignments are not tough, just feels like its so much.
Yes, He is nice as a person and a professor. Only problems with him is that he Doesn't even grade student's works and assignments and group projects NOT UNTIL around the semester end and week b4 Final Exam. Plus, he assigns tons of assignments within the few days to get that done which is nearly impossible with hectic schedules.
Prof. Perret is GREAT! I had his online course, so never met him in person, but we met once weekly via chat where he went step by step over that weeks assignments. Some are tougher than others but his walk-thrus perfectly answer any questions. He cares and you can also post any issues on the class site. Great, informative, and useful class.
The fact that Perret teaches a business comm class is ironic- he's got awful communication skills. He assigns tons of weekly group work in addition to your own individual assignments. Modules on canvas are chopped and screwed versions of assignments from past semesters. Make sure to read them and look closely for "due dates". Id leave if I could.
This review is based solely on his online class. Most of the assignments are through cengage in which you practice creating documents in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. There is a book along with the material but it isn't needed to grasp the concepts. If you have questions on the modules he offers a weekly meeting in which you can attend.
Do not take this class with him. It's an online class, not hard, but you will be reading and doing everything by yourself. He doesn't respond to emails. -GRADING: Done by SAM program. Right answers marked wrong. Doesn't grade on time. The Final : does not give enough time to be done even if you are pro on material. Still no Final Grade.
Easy A class but professor Perret is not a good professor. He's a nice guy but takes months to grade assignments and answers emails within weeks of sending them. A lot of the class is through Cengage but the assignments he gives are very unclear and he barely grades them. He has a weekly zoom call and is super condescending and not helpful.
This professor sucks. I took his Business Communications class, granted during the COVID 19 lock down, he didn't grade anything, ANYTHING until the end of the year and hadn't responded to a single email among'st any student. During the non mandatory Zoom lectures, he swore at three people, showing a lack of care for students and the course.
This class is a business communication class that is taught by someone who has no idea how to communicate. Nothing is graded all semester, modules are reused and left over from previous semesters. Due dates are all wrong and confusing. Everything is group dependent and over all a terrible experience. Professor belittles students who ask questions.
Prof. Perret wasn't anything to write home about. The work was done through the Cengage SAM system which is $80 for the semester. Don't expect the professor to reply to emails or grade anything in a timely manner. Also, the SAM system has a lot of grading issues that the professor cant fix. Easy A class though.
The teacher would rather assign everyone group work in order to not have to grade so many papers, assigns very vague and poorly written assignments, will not respond to emails until the end of the week and is overall pretty difficult to work with.
This prof & class is the absolute worst! Prof never/rarely answers emails, gives no/horrible feedback, everything in Canvas is disorganized, due dates are unclear, and he basically graded everything the last week of the semester. His rubrics/grading is very unclear and the entire class is basically groupwork with other students. AVOID THIS CLASS!
Joseph is pretty nice, and understanding.
never caring about students or emails. didn't give grade more than B.
he leave an awful feedback and his assignments with group most of them and I can not understand what he want us to do unclear at all first time I drop a class with W because It stress me out . But the most the unlike feedback.
Terrible instructor. Horrible communication skills. Not tech savvy for someone in the tech field. Not aware of update changes to software. Only responds to email once a week. Multiple students go to his weekly zoom meeting and receive no guidance or resolutions. Should be avoided. A clear sign of someone who should no longer be teaching.
A class that emphasizes on clear messages for business reports, your resume, and emails. this professor seemed to not apply his own core curriculum. As mentioned by other students he relies on group grading by peers, which can be very inconsistence and will affect your grade without professional feedback. Assignments are unclear and work heavy.
Perret is probably the worst professor i have had at pierce. I took him for business comm (completely online). All important assignments were graded through teams, were if your teammates didnt contribute you lost a lot of points You also CANNOT get a hold of him. No matter how many emails you send, he will never respond.NEVER!
Pf. Perret does NOT respond to any attempts of being contacted. You can send him as many emails as you want, and he will NEVER reply. Issues with grades? Too bad. I strongly advise against taking his class. He is the most garbage professor I have ever had. Assignments are graded against his own ideas too, not rubrics.
This teacher is probably the worst teacher I have ever had. He is disrespectful, lazy, inconsiderate, and forget about actually being able to reach him through email. There are no guidelines on the material and it is all based upon what he feels. Basically just hope he is in a good mood when he grades your work, and maybe you will receive a B.
Awful professor, one of the worst I've had in my life. Have never rated a professor but made an account simply to be able to rate them. Did NOT know how to tell the difference between AM and PM times and is an awful communicator who would never read their messages/emails and always blamed students for his inadequacies. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Professor Perret is amazing. I took this course over the summer. He provided lots of help! Light grader. The material is complicated but he is a chill teacher definitely recommend.
The class is straightforward, with assignments done through the Cengage SAM system. While the professor can be slow to respond, utilizing resources like unstuckstudy and the weekly Zoom calls can help navigate the material. Overall, an easy A if you stay on top of the work.
I've taken him 3 times. Cengage for Book and assignments. 5-6 assignments weekly 3-4 hours of work. There have been many issues with due dates being wrong or changed. Emails not being responded too. You'll get an A if you complete the work but if you have any issues you can only communicate with when you attend the weekly zoom meetings.
